The Internet marketing scene is changing. We are moving (or already have moved) from something we nowadays called the “Information Age” towards a period that is very much in demand for direct interaction with our website visitors! With the use of their advanced social skills some brilliant marketers have achieved a tremendous growth of their personal and business contact list - resulting in fabulous high profits, whilst some other marketers are beginning to suffer from their old “business” models.
What worked a few years ago - just setting up a simple static homepage that was built solely for the purpose of providing lots of high quality information, resulting in high search engine ranking, and easily collecting big cash from their visitors - won’t do it in these days. The amount of competition has grown, the average internet user is much more educated and also the buying habits have changed. On the positive side there are still thousands and thousands of people joining the Internet each and every day so our (niche) markets won’t be that easy over saturated. There is still good money to be made if we adjust our business models and marketing tactics to the evolving situation.
Today we are in need of building dynamic websites that focus on providing the visitor not only high quality information but also with the highest possible user integration and interaction. We technically can manage to build up websites that include blogs, audio and video, chats, RSS feeds, online games, the ability to comment on our articles, refer them to various social bookmarking sites, refer them to friends and so on but - we never should forget to provide all visitors the highest possible usability!
So how can a business owner, online marketer or webmaster keep pace with these changing trends?
All we need to know is already out there. We just have to regularly visit some forums or blogs that are up to the trends, read actual articles from authority sites, join the companionship of other marketers, listen to online broadcasts, look at video trainings, and so on. Does this have to cost you money? No, certainly not. You just have to invest more time if you can’t afford investing your good earned money into your personal education, but it could vastly cut your invested hours by half because of not needing to sort out what information is helpful or what sorts of (des-)“information” is just “crap”.
Being able to sort out the right information might become one of the greatest abilities you need to “survive” in the online marketing world. It will keep you away from something insider might call “information overload”. Also the ability of keeping sharp focus on your business plan, daily tasks and duties might help very well. You won’t get side tracked and not be tempted to buy another “big bang” eBook, software, and tool or join another membership you in reality absolutely do NOT need.
This way it is much easier to keep on track and solely do what has to be done to increase your business. I know, that won’t be easy at the beginning but this is something you have to learn. I do and hopefully you will do too.
Now let us come to our final question: Is it still possible to make it on the Internet today?
Yes, definitely! If we consider all we talked about in the content of this article you still can grow your business and make a living on the Internet and that is what I wish you from the bottom of my heart.
