Is a Snapshot Printer Right For You? Take the Test and Find Out

The digital camera significantly advanced the ease and convenience of capturing and sharing images when it was introduced years ago. For those shutterbugs who wanted a hard copy of those images, the ability to print and edit photos at home was a hallmark. Additions to the line up of printers available in recent years have provided even greater convenience however; allowing the immediate gratification of producing prints anywhere we go rather than waiting to return home to produce the images we capture. Snapshot printers have added portability to the process of creating prints.

Most of the major printer manufacturers now offer snapshot printer models. By answering just a few questions about their individual preferences, consumers can determine if these handy printers are the right choice for them.

Is there a frequent need to print pictures while away from home?

Snapshot printers allow users to take them anywhere they go. In general, they weigh from 2.5 to 5 pounds and are built for portability with handles for easy carrying. In addition, they connect with a camera or memory card directly or via a wireless connection such as Bluetooth or IR cutting out the need for a computer. Portability is the primary reason for selecting a snapshot printer.

Is there a need for a very simple and easy process to create prints?

Snapshot printers perform only one function, creating prints from a digital camera. Because of this and the ability to remove the computer from the equation, the printing process is very simple. Snapshot printers accept only precut paper to create 4×6 or in a few instances 5×7 or 4×12 prints, thus no trimming is needed once printing is completed. Most snapshot printers also offer a small LCD screen to allow users to make quick edits to crop pictures or make other adjustments. Ease of use and the space saving aspects of snapshot printers are another common reason for selecting them.

Will the printer need to produce text documents?

If users want a printer that will readily produce photographic prints as well as text documents a snapshot printer should be thought of only as a second device as they do not multi-task. These printers produce prints of the images on a camera exclusively. In addition, the sizes of the prints they are capable of producing is generally limited to 4×6 although some models offer other sizes as mentioned previously.

Is overall cost and quality of prints more important than portability?

The average snapshot printer is not expensive but offers no savings over their multi-tasking cousins. The average price is in the neighborhood of $80 to $200 with a per print cost of between $ 0.25 to $0.45. Snapshot printers are primarily dye sublimation or inkjet and offer very good photo quality although it is certainly not superior to the larger and more versatile full sized printers. The choice to purchase a snapshot printer is generally not based on superior print quality or pricing.

Clearly, snapshot printers rule the market for offering consumers the ability print photos immediately, any where they may take their camera. Although their functions are more limited than all-in-one or many traditional printers they meet a need for creating very good quality prints quickly and easily.

Comfort Care is for the Dying and the Living

My father-in-law had dementia for four years and caring for him was difficult. We often invited Dad for Sunday dinner so his could see his great grandchildren. The last time he came Dad rarely spoke and ate little. “I don’t think we should have Dad for dinner any more,” I told my husband. “It’s too stressful.”

Dad never came for dinner again. We received a call from Assisted Living at 1:15 a.m., telling us that Dad was coughing constantly and had a fever. An ambulance had been called for him. My physician husband dressed quickly and met his father at the Mayo Clinic emergency room. A chest x-ray revealed pneumonia and Dad was hospitalized.

Though he retired from medicine 40 years ago, Dad wanted to manage his own case, a challenge for family members and health professionals. Dad did not think his doctors were monitoring him. My husband showed him the monitor, but Dad thought it was a clock. After this incident Dad drifted in an out of consciousness, had wild hallucinations, and rejected food. His doctors told us Dad would not recover.

“End of Life” Caring for Your Dying Loved One,” an article on www.mayoclinic.com, lists signs that show death is near. These signs include cool arms/legs, bluish fingers, ear lobes and lips, not eating or drinking noisy breathing, irregular breathing, dark urine, blurred vision, inability to communicate, confusion and agitation. Dad had virtually all of these signs and “comfort care” was started.

A National Institute fact sheet, “End of Life Care: Questions and Answers,” notes that end-of-life care focuses on making the patient comfortable. “The patient receives medications and treatments to control pain and other symptoms, such as constipation, nausea, and shortness of breath.” Dad received prescription medicine to keep him pain-free and oxygen to help him breathe.

Several days later his doctors, abiding by Medicare regulations, dismissed Dad from the hospital and sent him back to his apartment in Assisted Living. His comfort care resumed there.

Meantime, family members comforted each other by staying in touch via phone and email. We took turns sitting with Dad. By now, Dad could barely speak and he asked for “my three boys.” One son flew in from Omaha, Nebraska and the other two sons, who lived in town, visited him often. Dad drifted into a coma and died peacefully in his sleep.

Where is our comfort?

We know Dad received excellent medical care until he died. Everything that could be done for Dad was done. He was pain-free, died in a familiar place (Dad loved his apartment) and had seen family members. The way Dad lived his life is the most comforting. “Look to this day for it is life,” a line from an ancient Sanskrit poem, was his motto and he lived by it. This poem — and Dad’s example — comfort us all.

German Shepherds - Some Tips When Looking For A New Dog

German Shepherds loyal, smart and suited for a wide variety of tasks as well as making great family pets. They’ve been popular ever since they were introduced after the first world war. As they make good family pets, here is a bit of information you may want to have on hand when taking a look at adding a German Shepherd to your family.

Choose a reputable breeder. German Shepherds, just like any other breed, have their share of health problems. You can avoid picking a puppy that’s prone to such problems by choosing a good breeder. A good breeder will be concerned about the health and quality of all their German Shepherds. If you aren’t sure where to look, contact your local breed council for recommendations.

German Shepherd health concerns are breed specific. But there are some general items that an owner of any dog needs to be aware of. Diet plays a huge role in the overall health of a dog. Choose a balanced dog food that is specially formulated for large breeds. There are some who believe in feeding a more natural diet, but that is up to an owner and their veterinarian. Be sure to keep the teeth clean and free of plaque. It is not necessary to brush the teeth, simply providing hard things to chew on will help keep your pet’s teeth clean.

One of the biggest health concerns you will have with your German Shepherd is the chance that it might develop and suffer from hip dysplasia. This is a common ailment among larger breed dogs and affects the joints of the dog’s shoulder and elbow. The effects are similar to the ones people with arthritis suffer from. To avoid this, regularly exercise your German Shepherd but don’t over do it especially with puppies. The first six months are a critical developmental time for a puppy.

Other German Shepherd health concerns include Hemophilia A. This blood clotting disorder affects the males and can be hereditary. Although not subject themselves, the females can be carriers. Pancreatic Insufficiency causes food to not be digested properly. Treatment is a life long process. Bloat or Gastric Torsion is also common. Feeding two smaller meals a day instead of one large one can help prevent this painful condition.

Many of these conditions can be hereditary. With this in mind, be sure to check with your breeder to be sure that the parents do not have these conditions. General German Shepherd health maintenance can be achieved by routinely taking your pet to the vet for vaccinations. These active, social dogs require regular exercise and lots of attention. If you take good care of your German Shepherd, you will have a healthy, happy friend for many years.

Change Things Up

For those that know me, they know that I tend to be a creature of habit. I to do the same thing every day, I order similar things at restaurants, I use the same route to work, and so on. Yet I work in a field where change is the norm. I have a wide variety of business interests and clients and creativity is a requirement in the business that I’m in. One of the observations I make in the gym all of the time is that there is a distinct lack of creativity. How often do you see someone hammering away at the same exercises and the same routine for a dog’s age? How often are you that someone? It’s been said that insanity is repeating the same action and expecting different results. If you were going to get in shape with your same old routine, you probably would have by now.

I am very much in support of a sound exercise routine and plan. A solid program allows you to continue to make progress and show improvements. However, the human body is a wonderfully adaptable organism. It is this strong adaptation ability that allows us to make the changes that we seek. The other edge of the sword is that eventually this adaptation process is going to catch up to you and you’ll stop making progress, often before you’d like to! In addition to stagnating in progress, other problems start to creep in. Overuse injuries tend to start popping up in the usual places. Often gymrat weightlifters and bodybuilders find that they’ve become very strong in certain ranges of motion but very weak in others. How often has “gym strength” become apparent? You see guys can bench press or leg press a ton, but look like they’re going to pass out carrying a bag of potting soil in from the car or they get knocked all over the football field by “weaker” players. I know some 300-lb bench pressers that can’t do 20 push-ups. That’s never a good sign.

To succeed in health requires a certain amount of athleticism. Too many people have gotten away from being an athlete. As a personal trainer I often start working with individuals who have lost their athletic coordination through years of inactivity or in some cases never had it in the first place. One of the big differences between my training and that of a lot of other trainers I see is that I immediately seek to reestablish that athletic nature. Rather than just plunk an overweight 40 year-old on the exercise bike I make them use their body with as many different types of exercise as they can successfully progress through. If they can’t control and coordinate their body how can you expect them to strength train successfully? You can’t. That’s why there’s so little success in a lot of personal training programs. Trainers forget that clients often aren’t as athletic as they are. That’s why they’re clients and spending their hard-earned money for the trainer’s help.

Look at it another way. What is the primary difference between the training of an eight year-old and the 40 year-old beaten-up gym warrior prepping for back surgery? What is that you say? The kid doesn’t train? I don’t know about you, but when I was eight I spent time outside running around playing baseball, football, basketball, tag, climbing trees, building tree forts, and doing whatever else came to mind. I spent most days covered with dirt and sweat. If that’s not training, I don’t know what is! In addition to growing, I spent every day improving my strength, speed, endurance, and coordination in one great afternoon session, with nary a case of tendinitis to be found.

Now, I’m not suggesting that you go out and play tag with a random person on the street. Chances are that you’ll either be arrested, shot, or mugged. What I am suggesting is learn to makes some changes and take some risks. Get off of the treadmill and step away from the Cybex machines. Get into the racquetball court. Ditch the leg press and give squats a try. Join a basketball league. Just do something to shake up your exercise routine. Your body will thank you for it in many ways.

Auto Accident Child Safety

Travel Safely with Young Passengers in Your Car

The essential safety information for every parent, relative, friend, or caregiver, who may transport an infant or small child in an automobile is to be sure to get the right car seat for your child. When it comes to child restraint systems, one size does not fit all, and each system must be appropriate for the individual youngster’s age, weight, and height.

The following are general guidelines about the kind of protection your child may need:

  • Infants up to about 1 year old should travel in a federally-approved infant safety seat that faces the rear of the car. Facing the back of the car protects a baby’s fragile head and neck if a car accident occurs. The car seat should be semi-reclined so that the baby’s head does not flop forward.
  • Children between 1 and 4 years old can sit in a convertible seat that faces forward, if the car seat is equipped with harness straps to securely hold the youngster in place.
  • A child who outgrows a convertible seat should ride in a booster seat, which will make the safety belt fit better and more comfortably.
  • After a child gets too big for a booster seat, he or she can wear a regular seat belt, but should continue to sit in the back seat until 12 years of age.

Give your child the maximum protection by using the car safety seat properly.

Although about 80% of drivers use child restraint systems, over 70% were incorrectly installed. The most common mistakes were incorrect use of the tethers and harnesses, which will keep the child safely secured in the event of an accident. This puts children at risk, and can easily be avoided, if drivers take the time to follow these simple steps:

  • Study the vehicle owner’s manual and car seat instructions carefully.
  • Check to see if you need a special locking clip. Not all standard safety belts will secure a car seat without it.
  • Look for a car seat with a label saying it meets federal motor vehicle standards.
  • Send in the car seat registration card, so that you will get notice of product safety recalls.
  • Get a tight fit - the car seat should not move more than one inch from side to side or forward. To check for proper installation, push and pull on the car seat near the safety belt buckle.
  • Replace a car seat that has been in a crash.

The Proper Dog Fence

It’s nice if our dogs can be kept quiet in one corner at our command. The thing though is that this can’t be done every time, not even if your dog has undergone full training.

The problem now comes when you and your dog lives in a neighborhood. Normally, states have dog containment laws or leash laws that could prevent certain circumstances of dogs running around the neighborhood. However, some states don’t have these laws and sadly, some owners are just indifferent of other people’s welfare when their dogs become unruly.

One of the solutions that most owners look into is the installation of dog fences. There are various types of dog fences that cater individual needs. These will be discussed in this article.

The common problem though with fences is that some dogs have the habit of jumping over them. To prevent this, it is vital that you train your dog not to give respect to the fences even as a puppy. This way, you dog will find it hard to escape.

Types of dog fences

Farm fence - This is also known as sheep fence. If you go after the price this would be a good choice for you as farm fence is the cheapest type available. Its main feature are smaller rectangles at the bottom and larger ones at the top. This is available in various sizes and should be attached to either T-posts or over brace posts. During installation, one must stretched the fence fully so as to achieved maximum strength.

The problems though with this fence are- that it does not appeal to style, it easily corrodes and dogs of various sizes can easily escape through it.

Chain link - Chain link fence is normally used for kennels. Unlike with farm fence, this has relatively smaller holes where it is almost impossible even for small puppies to penetrate into. It is also available in a number of heights. If you are considering the installation of barb wires, this is a very good choice. Chain links are expensive though, however it endures far better than any other kind of fence.

Split Rail fence - If you want to use the dog fence as part of your general landscape design, your best choice is the split rail fence and the price is just right to fit between inexpensive fabric fences and solid fences. It is vital that the fabric is placed inside the fence so as to ensure that no dog can escape through the rail.

Snow Fence - This is made of 2 by 4 inch of low gauge wire fabric. Like farm fence, this is installed using T-posts and brace posts and should also be stretched to achieve added strength. Be careful though since this fence must be checked regularly due to tendency to rusting.

Hybrid fencing - There are states in America that prohibit any form of dog fences. In this case, you may use hybrid fences which can be removed if necessary.

Hidden dog fences - Dog fences are often obstructive in vision. Hidden dog fences make use of an electric system that coordinates between the weak radio field that is sent from the underground connection and the receiver that is attached to the collar of your dog. Once the dog moves outward or near the parameter of the hidden fence, the underground system will send electric shocks to deter an escape.

These various options can help you control your dog .Maybe you would want to check about your needs and find which fence can serve you best. Helping you control your dog can provide you more safety feeling, and save you time and concern.

How To Catch A Cheating Spouse - 7 Tips You Should Know About

There can be few experiences in life worse than finding out that you have a cheating Spouse. The betrayal of Trust, the “I can’t believe that this is happening to me”. The feelings of guilt that arise when you look back and “blame yourself” when you know deep down that “you’re the injured party” and do you know what? The worst thing is when you hear about it from someone else – that you have a cheating Spouse – it’s the ‘shock’ and the ‘shame’ of it. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?

Well, if you’re reading this article – you definitely have a suspicion that you have a cheating Spouse or at least you are inquisitive to find out what the “warning signs” are for future reference. Maybe your best friend is suspicious and you want to help her. There are a whole variety of motives for just “wanting to know” – even if it’s just to put your mind at rest!

To find out if you have a cheating Spouse you may not need to hire an expensive private investigator nor invest in expensive surveillance equipment – nope, as a starter you should look for (sometimes quite obvious) signs for the cheating Spouse.

First of all let’s take a look at some of the critical signs that will alert you to whether or not you have a cheating Spouse

  • Habits change – He/She is coming home at odd times and neither offers or gives a rational explanation.
  • He/She starts telling lies without a reason.
  • He/She starts to buy a new wardrobe.
  • The spending pattern changes - more money than usual going out as well!
  • He/She starts exercising – going to the Gym, often at “odd” times.
  • He/she starts a new diet and shows much greater attention to personal appearance all of a sudden.
  • He/She starts changing their driving patterns.
  • Lastly but not least, your spouse doesn’t seem interested in “you”. There’s always something else to do rather than “talk”!

Ok, so now you have got past the signs and you’re convinced that something is amiss – now let’s see how to catch a cheating Spouse.

Tip #1 - Don’t Panic

The first thing to do is not to Panic! Yes – don’t panic – it’s the worst thing you could possibly do. Act like an observer whilst continuing to treat your Spouse as you had beforehand. Let your Spouse show his/her cheating behaviour.

Tip #2 - Action Plan

This is to catch your cheating Spouse in the Act. You can say to your Spouse that you are going to visit your Moms for the weekend or going to see the Game with your buddies and then park the car out of view and see what happens! Maybe nothing – but just maybe your suspicions may finally be confirmed.

Tip #3 - Keep a Record

Now that you have your suspicions confirmed. Write down what you find for example phone calls, emails, absences and keep your journal hidden. Don’t think of it as spying on your Spouse, think of it as information gathering. When it’s down in black and white it’s hard for your cheating Spouse to deny the patterns and lies.

It’s important not to jump to conclusions from the outset, as mistakes can be made. At this stage it is also good to exercise caution. Remember to treat your Spouse as you have always done to avoid suspicion and an initiation on your spouses behalf of “covering their tracks” making your task all the harder.

Tip #4 - Don’t ask Yet!

At this stage it’s also wise to not ask directly if your Spouse is cheating as let’s face it if he or she is cheating on you –it’s pretty likely they are going to lie about it!

Tip #5 - Remain Cool, Calm and Collected

Restrain temptation to have an “all out fight” at this stage as it will get you nowhere. Cool, Calm and Collected – amass the evidence from the behaviour then “plan” your “outing of the affair”. At this stage you will have the evidence!

Tip #6 - A word of Caution

Do not confront your cheating Spouse if for example your husband has a history of aggression towards yourself and your children. If that is the case then leave the detective work to someone who is professional in the field.

Tip #7 - Plan for the Consequences.

OK so now your cheating Spouse has admitted the Affair. What Next? Well my friend that is a question you are best placed to Answer!

Mouth Everest

Mouth Everest
The largest mouth on Earth
Perhaps you know one nearby you
Loud, obnoxious, noisy, and annoying
It seems all they instinctively know to do
Is blab their mouth excessively to you
Critique, complain, and tell you what to do
Being gregarious is not always hilarious
Neither delightful, charming, and warming
Sometimes silence is golden and endearing
Not everybody speaking, has something
Worth listening to and earnestly entreating
At the sight of Mouth Everest many go fleeing
Running, excusing themselves, and hiding
Voice mail and answer machines using
Yet Mouth Everest never quite clues in
They talk a little more, hope to never bore
Bring on the dialogue, and bark like a dog
Leave you limp, dull, and dead like a log
Mouth Everest is wild and unruly like a hog
Out of touch with themselves and others
Certainly not self-aware, they can smother
Yack on all night if they had their druthers
It seems women love to talk, chat, and gossip
Typically they also can quickly get their back up
Easily offend, be quick to defend, and suspend
All communications whenever any confrontation
Comes boldly and unexpectedly in their direction
Moving your lips a million miles a minute isn’t
Intended solely to entertain and burn calories
I guess it strengthens Mouth Everest’s identity
Undoubtedly everybody likes to be heard
Hearing ourselves talk I guess is therapeutic
People listen, we talk on, until their long gone
Until eventually one day upon us it does dawn
That not everybody cares to hear Mouth Everest
Diarrhea of the mouth, tongue on the run
Listen up everyone! Isn’t this so fun?
What are they numb and totally dumb?
Tie the phone around their neck
As they yap and drone on you feel a wreck
Exhausted and overwhelmed by their dialect
Verbiage and dialogue can be pleasant when less
Than impressive and exceedingly incessant
When will Mouth Everest ever get it?
Not everybody wants to happily hear it.

Omega 3 Salmon Oil

Fish oil is beneficial to the overall health of an individual because it provides the essential omega 3 fatty acids - EPA and DHA. There are many oily fish rich in omega 3 fats, but the most easily available among them is salmon. Omega 3 salmon oil is a rich source of not only the fatty acids, but also high levels of protein.

If you are looking for salmon oil supplements, make sure you find the ones that are molecularly distilled to clean any impurities and contaminants found in the fish. Farm-raised salmon, in addition to polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB), also contains contaminants known as dioxins, which might be harmful for the health.

If you like to eat fish, eating salmon twice a week would be sufficient to fulfill the needs of the body for omega 3 fatty acids. Alternatively, you can also buy omega 3 salmon oil or fish oil capsules easily available on the market. Fish oil supplements can be obtained in the form of capsules or tablets, which makes them easy to consume.

These capsules should be made from pharmaceutical grade fish oil to ensure a pure and standardized product. Sockeye salmon is one of the species of salmon found in the Pacific Ocean. It is known that sockeye salmon found in Alaska is among the purest of all salmon species and the best to make oil supplements from. Sockeye salmon is also known as red salmon. During our research, we have learnt that a fish known as the Hoki fish goes way beyond any fish in terms of pure fish oil and minimal pollution levels.

Omega 3 salmon oil, as already discussed, provides EPA and DHA fatty acids in just the right amounts as needed by the body. 1 serving (3-4 ounces) of salmon is enough to obtain nearly 1.5 grams of omega 3 fatty acids. If you are taking omega 3 salmon oil supplements, then consuming 800-1000 mg daily should be enough. The only problem is much of the salmon available is loaded with harmful metals.

Salmon oil is known to provide long-term health benefits; the most noteworthy among them is the prevention of cardiovascular disease. In addition to this, fish oil also helps to fight against cancer, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis and mental illnesses. In summary, find a fish source that gives the most natural and purest fish oil, even one that goes beyond that of the salmon fish.

If you are not sure about the daily dosage of omega 3 salmon oil, consult a dietitian or a health expert before buying any supplement product. Similarly, pregnant women and people with high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels should ask their doctor before taking supplements containing DHA and EPA fatty acids. Overdose of these substances has harmful side effects associated with it, which could become even more dangerous in the case of the above-mentioned patients.

We have found a pure pharmaceutical grade, molecularly distilled
fish oil product that is naturally high in DHA and EPA.

Coming from the Hoki Fish Located on the pristine southern coasts of New Zealand, where the waters are extremely low in pollution and toxins.

Panama - The Switzerland Of The Western Hemisphere

Thinking of retiring? Need or want an investment in real estate? Forget Costa Rica. Forget Mexico and Nicaragua. Panama is the gemstone of the Western Hemisphere for retirees, for real estate investing, for privacy, for asset protection, for safety. Panama is considered to be the safest country in the Western Hemisphere. Its inflation rate is the lowest in the world, its growth rate among the highest. In part this is owing to the fact that its currency is the U.S. dollar. And you thought that Panama was simply some Central American banana republic. Well, you couldn’t have been more wrong.

When a visitor first sets sight on Panama City the response is virtually always the same: WOW. Panama real estate boasts some of the most beautiful and innovative architecture in the world. It has soaring skyscrapers set on a bay overlooking the entrance to the Panama Canal. Donald Trump has found his way to Panama with the construction of the Trump Ocean Club, a $220 million real estate development on the bay overlooking the entrance to the Canal.

One can retire in Panama for a fraction of what it would cost in the U.S., Canada, Europe or Australia. Boquete, which is near the Costa Rican border, has been selected by the AARP as one of the four best places in the world for Americans to retire. And get this; the climate is so mild that the people there do not have air conditioners or heaters. One can have a full time maid for as little as $200 per month.

Panama is now considered to be one of the world’s best financial centers, with more than 140 banks, more than 130 of them major international banks, such as HSBC, Bank of Tokyo, First National Bank of Chicago, BNP, American Express Bank, Deutsche Sudamerikanische Bank, Banco do Brasil and many others.

Panama is a true asset protection and tax haven. It has no tax treaties with any other nation and does not impose a tax on foreign-earned income. Funds of a non-criminal origin placed in a Panamanian private foundation are secure from creditors. Foreign judgments are not recognized in Panama. Panama has a tax-free free trade manufacturing zone. Many Fortune 500 companies have their corporate offices in Panama. Panama’s bandwidth capability is the same as that of New York City; however, NYC uses 70% of its bandwidth capability while Panama uses only 3%.

Foreigners are protected in their persons and property the same as Panamanians. Almost all real estate is owned in the name of a Panamanian international business company (IBC), thereby providing privacy and asset protection to the owner. Panama has made a concerted effort to attract Americans (and others) to retire in Panama with a retiree visa that permits permanent residence and steep discounts on such things as medical and dental services, airline fares, restaurant bills, and so on.

Leisure time activities include golf, bird watching, hiking, deep sea fishing, sun bathing, dining and more. In the final analysis, if you want safety, security, peace of mind, affordable living, excellent real estate values, Panama will be difficult to beat, whether for retirement or for investment, or both.
