Acne and Its Psychological Consequences - The Emotional Damage

It’s common knowledge that acne, even in mild cases, can cause permanent facial scaring which is unfortunate. But did you know that acne can exact and even heavier emotional toll? Psychological scarring and social disabling among acne sufferers, both teenagers and adults, actually can have far more serious long term consequences than the physical fallout.

By some estimates, around 85% of people between the ages of 12 and 25 develop acne. The psychological and social impacts during this emotionally sensitive time of life are huge. Adolescents are in the throes of developing their personalities just when acne manifests itself. During this time, peer acceptance is critical, and peer status becomes inextricably woven with physical appearance and attractiveness, often leading to severe emotional disturbance when acne erupts.

Studies indicate that psychological consequences from acne primarily take the form of embarrassment, impaired self-image, low self-esteem, self-consciousness, frustration, and anger. There is a subset, as also shown in studies, where the sufferer believes that their personality has been adversely and permanently affected. Depression, to some degree, haunts younger people with acne to a greater extent than in the normal population. However, there is no clear indication that their depression in relation to acne is generally severe enough to require treatment. Most teens studied were far more likely to describe their mental state in terms of embarrassment, self consciousness, impaired self esteem and the like. Adults with acne, however, are more prone to suffer anxiety and depression needing treatment.

Acne flare-ups trigger these negative feelings as soon as they appear, and are aggravated in the teenage setting by taunting, stigmatizing, and apprehensions of being scrutinized and judged. Simply walking past a mirror can bring on feelings of self loathing. Some people report that their emotional reactions are at their worst when looking in the mirror.

Feeding acne’s emotional fallout are media generated ideal images of unblemished skin. People with acne become acutely aware that they have failed to live up to the ideal of perfect, flawless skin projected in television, film and advertising. Magazines targeting the younger female demographic certainly never portray anyone with pimples, nor, for that matter, will you encounter such images in publications for more mature audiences. One’s sexual attractiveness, so seemingly vital in the teenage years, is then found to be abysmal by comparison.

Of course, there’s a something of a paradox at work here. One of the acne myths is that stress in one’s life causes acne. Studies have proven that this is untrue, and, in fact, it’s the other way around. Acne can cause stress which, in turn, suggests that it was stress that caused the acne in the first place.

So, what are the remedies? First and foremost, of course, is treatment to relieve the symptoms of acne outbreaks as soon as they appear. Given the nature of the disease, there are numerous approaches to treatment (accompanied by information overload). A proactive stance toward treatment is the most effective way to ameliorate the damaging feelings. Beyond that, support and sensitivity on the part of one’s family and close friends goes a long way toward propping up both teenagers and adults while treatment is in progress.

Managing Your Turkish Property

Although some developers and estate agents in Turkey offer after-sales services, independent companies are springing-up in the main resorts to cater for a growing demand from foreign property owners for professional management. If you are not living in Turkey a reliable management agent to check your property regularly, carry out any necessary maintenance work and look after the garden is essential, particularly if you are letting out the property.

“A good management company is of the utmost importance,” comments Heidi Yildiz, an estate agnet in Fethiye. “Not only can you be safe in the knowledge that your property is being looked after, but you don’t have to deal with all the day-to-day hassles of ownership. Also, if you are renting a seamless service is paramount.”

In an increasingly competitive market place, developers themselves are becoming more aware of the importance of after-sales services to their clients and several companies have introduced sophisticated online systems through which property owners can manage their properties, book services like airport pick-ups and even pay their bills with a credit card.

For an annual or monthly fee developers or independent management companies generally provide a weekly ‘property check and air’ service, along with additional services such as airport transfers, cleaning, laundry and welcome baskets. Most companies can also help with more unusual requests like babysitting, household shopping and help with bookings for golf, horse riding or other sporting activities and obtaining a telephone line or ADSL connection. Assistance with clearing personal belongings through Turkish customs is also sometimes available.

Cool Baby Shower Themes - Rubber Duckie Baby Shower

If you’re planning to host a baby shower and want a fun idea that symbolizes the innocence of early childhood, consider using a rubber duckie theme. The rubber duckie is timeless and can be very versatile in decorating. Keep reading for our ideas on how to incorporate this cool theme into your next baby shower.

Invitations
This is the first opportunity you have to let your guests in on the theme of the party. Look for invitations with ducks on them, or if you’re feeling creative try creating your own invitations either by hand or with a computer.

Centerpieces
The options for centerpieces are endless! You could use a large glass bowl filled with water and have a large duckie or a few small duckies floating in it. This is also a great option for decorating side tables, using smaller bowls. To add more interest, add some decorative colored stones or even some plastic fish tank plants.

Another centerpiece option is to have a pair of small childrens rubber boots with a small glass in each one. Fill the glasses with water and an assortment of small flowers such as coral bells, pansies, carnations, babies breath, or freesias. The boots will tie in with your rubber duckie theme quite well since ducks are often linked with rainy weather.

Napkins
Scout the stores for napkins with rubber ducks on them. Also, pick up paper plates that match one of the colors in the napkins like yellow or orange. A bright color is best and will help to remind your guests that you are celebrating birth and childhood, when bright colors are best!

The Dreaded Hat
Yes, every guest of honor dreads the hat that is inevitably created from the ribbons and bows scavenged from shower gifts. Instead of using the traditional paper plate, consider using a yellow rain hat!

Cake
Of course it needs to either have a duck on it or be in the shape of a duck! As well, come up with a corny phrase for the occasion to be written on the cake.

Punch Bowl
Forget adding fruit to the ice ring, instead wash up some small rubber ducks and let them float in the punch bowl.

Having any kind of theme for your shower will help to alleviate some of the pressure of entertaining guests while they take in their surroundings. It also helps a shy guest of honor cope with being the center of attention, in this case some of the focus would be drawn toward the duckies.

If you’ve decided to use this theme, go wild with it! Give a special prize to the first guest to sing the Sesame Street Rubber Duckie song! This is a baby shower and the more effort you put into it the more fun your guests and your guest of honor will have. The decorations don’t need to be expensive, a lot of these items can be purchased at a dollar store if you don’t already have them. A few rubber ducks will go a long way!

Successful Internet Marketing - Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is an important strategy for successful Internet marketing. Many successful Internet marketers like to work on affiliate products because the marketing networks can be multiplied infinitely. The probability of success is high, and therefore the return is huge. Capital investment needed in affiliate products is minimal, and it saves time to put the products on the Internet compared to producing your own products. This makes it a super Internet marketing strategy.

If you are a newbie and do not have a product ready to promote, then affiliate marketing is where you should start. Affiliate products usually come complete with professionally written sale pages. All you need to do is to sign up as an affiliate and use the link provided to promote the products. It’s just that simple.

An important step in affiliate marketing is to capture the names and email addresses of your potential customers with an opt-in page before sending them to the affiliate sale page. This way, you build your own list as you promote the products. This wise move kills two birds with one stone.

There are many good affiliate products that offer high commission, between 30% and 50%, available in the Internet market. These are the products you should focus on. Commissions are paid when a sale is done through your affiliate link.

Selling an affiliate product is no different from selling your own product. You need to work on attracting traffic to your site, encourage opt-ins, and increase conversion rates. Offering complimentary e-books, reports, etc., to the visitors in exchange for their email addresses and names is a commonly used marketing strategy that works all the time. As the visitors have no idea who you are, it is vital that you built trust among your members. Therefore, the free materials you offer must be quality materials with value. Do not give people junk, or you will lose the trust you earned.

After you are successful in marketing an affiliate product, it is wise for you to produce similar products of your own and then offer affiliate agreements to others. Now you will have many affiliates working for you without your need to work. All you need to do is split the profit with your affiliate. I need to stress that trust is the basic ingredient to successful affiliate Internet marketing. Therefore, you need to build a good reputation by paying commissions on time and not cheating your affiliates out of what they are entitled to.

As the owner of the affiliate products, you must have a clear stand that you have zero spam tolerance. Make your antispam policy known when people sign up for your affiliate program, and be strict with your spam policies. Spam can hurt you. It will cost you a fortune should your web site be hit by spam. If the spam problem gets serious and out of hand, it is better that you shut down your site temporarily and clean up immediately. Delete your list and start fresh. Abandoning your list totally is a painful option, but it may be your only choice when you are hit by spam. I suggest that you be vigilant with spam.

Saving Face In The Workplace - Graceful Recovery From Mortifying Moments

If you’re anything like me, you do stupid things every day when, mercifully, there’s no one to see: tripping on flat surfaces, buttoning your shirt too quickly and putting the buttons in the wrong hole, getting lipstick on your teeth. But when you spend at least 40 hours of your week in the office, you’re guaranteed a public gaffe every now and then. I’ve perfected three failsafe moves to help you save face after a less-than-graceful workplace faux pas. Here they are in action.

Face Saver #1: Act like nothing is wrong

On my third day of work at a new company, I managed to walk through three floors of my building and about six blocks on rush-hour frenzied streets, passing several police cars and at least three packed commuter buses, with the back of my skirt tucked up behind my backpack. I don’t mean that it was just hanging a little strangely - it was all the way up. And how did I discover that I had bared my flowery underwear to hundreds of people? Turns out the attractive thirtysomething businessman walking behind me wasn’t having a funny cell-phone conversation after all; he was laughing at my derriere.

Despite the fact that I was dying inside, I lifted my bag, freed my skirt, and gave him a wink before climbing onto my crowded train. I heard a few snickers as I made my way to an empty space, mostly from people with window seats on the platform side of the train, but most folks seemed pretty impressed.

Face Saver #2: Be the first to laugh

One day, I struck a thoughtful pose while listening to my boss: I crossed my arms and leaned casually against his doorjamb - and fell out the door into the hallway. I managed to regain my balance (and most of my dignity) without completely wiping out. Before he uttered a single word, I smoothed my hair and said, “Wow, my coffee had more of a kick than I realized today!” After that, what else could he say? We had a good laugh before continuing our conversation, and I struck my thoughtful pose in a chair.

Face Saver #3: Go along with the humor

On my first day in a new cube following a promotion and a big move, I nearly knocked myself unconscious when I spun to grab something from the other side of my U-shaped workspace and cracked my forehead on the corner of a cabinet. Within seconds, it looked like I had a golf ball coming out of my forehead. At the time, it seemed like a good idea to tell the girl in the next cube what had happened and ask her to help me find an ice pack. I was wrong.

After she stopped laughing, she took my arm and led me to our boss’ office. “Dan,” she announced loudly, “Kristen just hit her head on her cabinet.” “Excuse me?” He raised an eyebrow. “I hit my head,” I explained articulately. “In your cube?” His other eyebrow went up. And then he started laughing, too. It didn’t end there. Within minutes I was known companywide as The Girl Who Got A Concussion In Her Cube.

There was a directors’ meeting the next day, in which a major topic of discussion was how I had hit my head in my cube (perhaps it was indicative of changing space needs). A guy I barely know from another department came up to me and offered to get me a helmet (laugh it up, Chuckles). Last week some well-meaning folks from my department brought me leftover bubble wrap: “Here, do you want to put this on your cabinets?” I would have preferred to crawl under my desk and die, but instead, I cheerfully said, “Thank you!” and stuck the bubble wrap on my cabinet - and I haven’t heard a word about it since.

Going down in history

In 1937, Eleanor Roosevelt said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” And in the office, no one can make you feel like a total dork without your permission. A lot of times the people around you won’t even realize that you messed up unless you make a big deal out of it (or unless you’re baring your behind to the world, of course), so if you make a quick fix and continue on your way, your slip-up may escape notice. Even if your embarrassment is pretty public, remember that the first one to laugh it off is the first one to live it down. And you can always count on one of your coworkers to have her own mortifying moment and take the heat off of you.

Integrating Engineering And Manufacturing Bill Of Material (BOM) Through ERP Software Solutions

With ever-increasing movements in manufacturing toward a seamless integration of shop systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software has proven a viable solution to the problem of communication between departments. The immediacy of graphically-displayed (GUI), real-time data available to operators at the touch of a finger functions to reduce the amount of time and paperwork necessary to make job production run smoothly. However, one of the last vestiges of needless multilayer redundancy in the manufacturing system is shown in the very essence of the production system; that is, the conceptual and actual separations that exist in the engineering and manufacturing bills of material (BOM). While there are, of course, different types of bills of material dependent upon the department that generates them and for their intended purpose, the similarities of ultimate purpose found in engineering and manufacturing BOM’s is the basis by which ERP seeks to their integration within the engineering/production process.

Generally, a BOM describes the product to be produced in terms of its various assemblies, sub-assemblies, and parts. In addition to being a listing of parts, a thorough BOM displays these elements in hierarchical fashion with a master BOM outlining the list of components by broad reference and working its way down through the sub-assemblies and increasingly detailed constituent components necessary for the production of the product. For many ERP software systems utilizing GUI displays, this hierarchical mapping of BOM entry and inquiry is produced in what is termed an exploded tree view, whereby components as kids are easily traced back to their parents. As well, to the extent that BOM’s provide a knowledge of type and quantity of parts necessary for a particular job, they are vital to accurate purchasing and efficient inventory maintenance.

The problem regarding BOM’s in manufacturing is when the classic structure of the engineering BOM needs to be enhanced by the creation of a manufacturing BOM for actual production. In the past, wasteful amounts of paperwork were needed to describe the production in terms of routers-especially when it came to the inclusion of data such as phantom parts. In addition, any engineering change order (ECO) that affects material ordering, purchasing, inventory or any number of other departments could cause great delays in production as they thus affect the manufacturing BOM. In short, the classic separation of engineering and manufacturing BOM’s (where quoting is always in the middle) necessitates the additional step of reorganization of the assembly router.

With ERP software, engineering and manufacturing BOM’s are now integrated to eliminate such reorganization and the need for an additional BOM for manufacturing itself. Tooling information is included directly into the router from engineering as the different tree levels are controlled in ERP software under a single dispatch list. In addition, ECO’s are automatically updated within the GUI and without additional paperwork. In the more robust ERP software systems, the engineering BOM is backward scheduled on the shop floor for more accurate assembly instructions. However, perhaps the greatest benefit of all in the use of ERP to integrate engineering and manufacturing BOM’s is that of a single-system organizational communication structure. Now, engineering and manufacturing are finally working together on the same page, resulting gained efficiencies in direct production costs (such as inventory management) and reduced waste in various in-direct costs (such as off-production labor time).

Home Security Stores - Where to Buy Some Peace of Mind

Home security is increasingly becoming more of an issue today than it was years ago. With heinous crimes, theft and abuses happening at homes, homeowners have become more interested in setting up a security system to protect themselves, their properties and their loved ones.

There are companies that offer special security services as well as security products for homes. They perform initial assessment, make suggestions, as well as provide and set up security devices for your home. Taking this option can be more costly but more efficient.

With the surge of technology, security devices are now simpler to use and easier to install. Hiring a security specialist is no longer the only way to install a reliable security system in your home. Personally setting up your home security system is possible and more cost-efficient.

Before installing anything, it is important to do careful assessment and planning to determine your security needs as well as your financial capacity. Securing your home effectively entails the use of different devices and knowing what products will work best for you is essential.

There are many brick and mortar stores as well as online shops that offer home security devices. These stores offer a wide variety of products that can help secure your home and family with different options to fit your budget and needs. Alarms, motion sensors, surveillance cameras, safes, thumbprint door locks and more are available for you to purchase from home security stores.

You can buy all your security devices from just one store or get them from different shops. With the aid of the Internet, it is easy to get to know more about the different security products, compare prices and read reviews of different stores offering them. You can also read about the experiences of other people regarding use and effectiveness of various security products.

A visit to your local home security store can give you a good idea on how different security devices are used. An actual demonstration can be presented, for you to better appreciate the functions of each product. You can also compare devices from different manufacturers side by side.

With many stores and gadgets to choose from, you are in a better position to get a good deal for your home security system. With regards to protecting your household, the more reliable and extensive your security system in place, the better for your peace of mind. If money is tight, just remember that it is better to install devices with less features than have no home security system at all.

When Children of Divorce Act Out - Caring Parents Step Up

Divorce, like life, is rarely neat and packaged. This is especially true for divorcing parents. The reality of divorce comes with unexpected twists, constant frustrations and times of utter helplessness when children act up or pull away.

Here are three tips for coping with times when your children are venting, lashing out or expressing their own frustrations about being caught up in a family adjusting to separation or divorce.

Diffusing blame. Some children, especially pre-teens and teens, may blame one parent or the other for the divorce. Sometimes they may be correct in this interpretation given circumstances they have been aware of for years (alcoholism, absent parent, domestic violence, etc.). Other times they side with one parent as a result of their prior relationship dynamics with that parent. Regardless of why you or your spouse is being blamed, keep your cool. In many cases blaming is a defense against feeling overwhelmed by the circumstances in your child’s life. Suddenly there are so many changes in such a short period of time. Often this behavior is not meant against you personally. It is merely a child’s way of coping. When you keep this in mind it is easier to not personalize the outbursts and accusations. Patiently remind your child that you understand their frustrations. Acknowledge they have a sincere right to feel that way. Tell them how much you love them and how much you regret their hurt and pain. Let them know this was a difficult decision for both parents yet one you feel is the best alternative for your family’s future happiness and well-being. Be patient and consistent. And don’t internalize a child’s expressions of frustration as a lack of love for you as a parent.

Countering distress. Often, negative comments from your children are expressions of distress and not criticism. Children want and need encouragement, support, and security during times of stress and change. If their needs are not being met because one or both parents are too caught up in their own hurt and drama, it is not surprising to hear negative comments and outbursts. When you realize that this is a call for attention, recognition and the emotional healing that you can provide, you can move into action. This is the time to reinforce your comments about the key messages every child needs to hear. They include: You are safe. You are loved by Mom and Dad. You will not lose Mom or Dad. You are not to blame for the divorce. Although change can be challenging, everything will work out okay.

Patient acceptance. In many ways divorce is like death. Sometimes the best thing you can do is fully be there for your children and understand what they are going through from their perspective. Talk if they want to talk. Hug and cuddle if they respond to affection. Continue as many family routine activities as possible on a day-to-day basis. Be honest and sincere when you are upset or frustrated by changes in your family life - and let them express their frustrations, as well. Most importantly, accept and acknowledge whatever they share with you as okay for them to feel. Try to put yourself into the mind-set of your six, ten or fifteen year old and experience the world from their viewpoint. It will help you be more empathic, less judgmental and more open to really “hearing” what they have to say.

This is what creating a “child-centered” divorce is all about. Let your children’s emotional and physical needs be at the forefront of your mind when making life-altering decisions related to separation or divorce. Parents who consciously create a “child-centered” divorce have their radar constantly on. They’re attuned to subtle changes in their children’s behavior before that evolves into overwhelming challenges. Their children know and feel that they count and are a vital part of the family dynamic - even if it is evolving into a different form. These children are less fearful and more likely to move on with their lives into the future with confidence and high self-esteem. Isn’t that what you want for your children?

Turbo Charge Your Adsense Income - Part 1

I am on a mission. To rid the internet of adsense income boosting lies, once and for all. You are about to read tried and tested information that will increase your adsense income almost overnight. I am just so sick of opening my inbox, and seeing torrents of emails from all the so-called gurus (I still like to check what they’re up to), giving useless and outdated adsense money making advice to people who don’t know any better.

So let’s get started making adsense money! In a previous article I mentioned that in order to rake in a huge adsense income, you need 4 things to be in order. Remember they were:

1. Content

2. Keywords

3. Your ads

4. Traffic

So let’s go into more detail about point 1. - Content is king!

In a nutshell, to make adsense income clicks, you need to put content on your website alongside your adsense code, and drive traffic to the pages. Sounds simple, and it is. But it’s not easy. The content on each page needs to be focused around one or two keyword phrases, the longer the phrase, the more targeted it is. This means Google will put more relevant adsense income ads on your pages, and visitors to your site will be more likely to click on them. All because they are more relevant, and related to what they were originally searching for. This means more adsense income for us! Starting to get it?

What you’re aiming to do with each page is to create adsense income raising content, laden with highly targeted keywords, and make your keyword density in the region of 3 - 6%. If it’s too low, then Google won’t consider your pages worthy enough to be ranked in the search engines, but more importantly, the ads it places in your adsense income making areas will be redundant. Unrelated ads look unprofessional, and stick out like a sore thumb.

The flipside of this is making pages with keyword density that’s too high. Google will think you’re keyword spamming, and penalize you! Keep it balanced and your adsense income will explode before your eyes.

Make sure your adsense income pages have the right keyword density by using this tool:

www.live-keyword-analysis.com

I recommend using as much original content as possible, as it will mean higher rankings and more adsense income in the long run. Read other’s articles, and use your noggin to create brand new keyword-dense content, as this will pull in more adsense income than simply reposting old articles. To maximize your adsense income earnings though, it’s best to use a mixture of original and other people’s content. Time is a factor and if you want more adsense income now, then this will bring quicker returns. Just remember that too much of other people’s articles on your site can make you fall out of favor with Google, and you know what that means….

Don’t even bother with synthesized content! It will bring in adsense clicks for you for a while, but Google will catch up, and you’ll be sorry.

I hope these tips will fatten out your adsense income. And I’m just getting started. If you want more adsense income than you can imagine, and don’t want any more lies, then stay tuned for more free adsense tricks. Also, I suggest that you invest in yourself, and get the best adsense income boosting videos available. Michael Cheney’s adsense income boosting videos helped me shoot my income through the roof. They are in a step by step format, and literally idiot-proof. And my adsense income used to be a measly $1.49 on average per day. Go figure.

What if I told you that I know someone who makes over $19,000 a month, every month from adsense alone??

Would it make sense to learn from this man?

ERP Systems In Automating Material Transactions On The Shop Floor

If anything in manufacturing is certain, it is that the greater the materials handling the less efficient the system will be all the way down the production line. Indeed, materials acquisition and issuance has become something of a science since the introduction of lean principles into manufacturing over thirty years ago. The idea of lean in materials management is tied to the notion of estimating the material quantities that will be needed at any moment in the manufacturing operation. Prior to the automation of the shop floor, materials management (as a function of inventory management) was both a labor-intensive and often-inaccurate process as estimates for material were usually based on out-dated data. Today, however, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software systems take the manual process out of the production loop and through the use of real-time data, achieve the automation of materials management.

In essence, the function of materials management boils down to two divergent concepts-buying for inventory versus buying straight to the job. As the less efficient concept, buying for inventory means the “storing” of material (raw and/or components) for future use in production, whether or not that production may be presently pending or unknown into the future. In terms of material clerk efforts, buying to inventory requires a great deal of material handling in terms of turnaround, cycle counting, and issuance. On the other hand, buying straight to the job means less handling of production material within the shop. In a best case scenario, material enters the shop through the loading dock, travels directly to the work center where it is used immediately in manufacturing, and then shipped out just as quickly as finished goods; in other words, material moves straight through the factory. We often see such efficiencies in lean-cell manufacturing operations.

The estimating of material quantity in such a best case scenario is based upon the router (or traveler), which is in itself a quantity dependent document. That is to say, as the quantity of material needed is known in advance, the work order is also quantified, In turn, this makes it easy to know what to buy and what to move from inventory to the job as quickly as possible. Furthermore, ERP software will manage backflushing, whereby material is issued automatically when production is posted against an operation. In short, an ERP backflushing program will make use of the known quantity of jobs completed to calculate through the bill of material the quantities of the components used, and then reduce on-hand balances by this amount. Some ERP systems will even allow the input of quantity to issue material or backflush as initial job steps are completed. Such an option can have a great effect on the reporting of production scrap.

In the end, automating materials transactions on the shop floor through robust ERP systems raises efficiencies in the general materials management functions of inventory clerks. To this end, ERP software achieves the desired goal of the minimization of both material issuance and overall transactions.
