Don’t Confuse The Message

One of the worst mistakes an advertiser can make is sending mixed messages. I’m always paying attention to advertising and marketing to see how others attempt to get their message across in 15-30 seconds. After-all, the human attention span isn’t getting any greater, and we’re overloaded with messages on a day-to-day basis so we weed out almost everything anymore. That’s interruptive marketing at its best. What happens when advertisers confuse the message and stray from the core of what the business actually does?

A prime example today of a mixed message campaign is Rally’s Hamburgers, a southeastern based burger and fry joint with dual drive through windows (one on each side of their facilities) which used to be headquartered in my backyard of Louisville, KY. They have since merged with Checker’s, and I believe they moved their HQ to Florida. Anyway, Rally’s true differentiator is their French Fries–great tasting fries with a unique flavorful coating. They attempt to compete with Burger King, McDonald’s, DQ, and Wendy’s among others.

Their current advertising campaign focuses on a toy-like figure named “Rap Cat.” In their ads they have two younger guys who supposedly work one of the drive through lanes at Rally’s. Frequently the ads discuss current specials and one of the guys will suggest your visit their drive thru window to get the special. Then the other one will offer the exact same special for their drive thru lane. The punch line usually has something to do with visiting one side of the drive thru instead of the other because that side features “Rap Cat.” Then the video snaps to some goofy looking stuffed animal that meows in a rap-like fashion with a bad voice over. Not only is the campaign poorly done, it totally mixes the core message of the chain’s business–selling tasty fast food at a very reasonable price. To me, a more effective message would be to capitalize on the popularity of their unique fries versus some stupid toy that likely doesn’t propel anyone to want to go to Rally’s over McDonald’s or Wendy’s. If I’m even remotely hungry and an ad comes on television at the proper time, I am much more likely to run out of my house to a particular chain if the food either appeals to my taste buds or something looks good. Rally’s fries appeal to most people’s taste buds if they’ve ever had them before, and they look tasty enough to want to give them a try if not. Rap-Cat does nothing to inspire most people to want to seek out Rally’s. Kids may identify with the toy, but I seriously doubt it. I will give the campaign one bit of credit–it’s so bad it’s memorable, but I wonder if that’s what Rally’s is after. Do they want an advertising campaign that is so bad it becomes memorable to the point people are talking about it only because the advertising is horrible?

Since I don’t have access to hard numbers, I can’t project the true impact of this mixed message campaign, but I can dare Rally’s to talk to my company and its partners about fixing the message and driving revenue instead of wasting money on some hair-brained attempt at being cute. If Rally’s wants to be a toy store, get out of the fast food business and partner up with Toys-R-Us. They aren’t McDonald’s where they can have five or six messages proliferating the airwaves and still survive.

In the meantime, the takeaway is don’t confuse your potential consumer by sending mixed messages and poor attempts at humor or cuteness. Stick to your core and establish recognition first then when you become McDonald’s or Burger King, you can tinker with various messages.

If Rally’s happens to read this, an admitted long shot, they can find out more about my company by visiting Marketing Consulting I’m quite confident we can help them fix their message and possibly their company in the process.

Finding The Best Collagen Products

As the demand for anti-wrinkle products continues to grow, the quality of offerings has advanced as well. It used to be that the only option for wrinkle reducing treatments came in the form of over-hyped creams and ointments that failed to produced results. But now researchers have identified collagen as the primary factor in the appearance of wrinkles, and this discovery has spawned a number of new treatments that offer proven success in the fight against anti-aging techniques.

Collagen is a natural protein that is found in your skin, bones, and tendons. The collagens in your skin act as the primary components towards maintaining skin strength and elasticity. Unfortunately, these collagens tend to break down and diminish during the aging process, and this results in the appearance of wrinkles and sag points. By utilizing collagen therapy, you can control and even reverse the effects of aging on the skin. Some of the more popular treatment options are discussed below.

Of the many collagen treatments, collagen injections have received the most amount of media coverage because of their association with actors and models. Injectable collagen was developed to treat certain types of wrinkles and minor skin depressions. This form of collagen delivery is very expensive, averaging about $350 per treatment. While the results of collagen injections are often immediate, the pain and swelling associated with the procedure is a major drawback for most consumers. Furthermore, results from this treatment are only temporary, leading to additional expenses in the future.

Another form of collagen treatment comes through the use of partial protein creams. These products are typically found at retail skin care outlets. Advertised as an alternative to collagen injections, these treatments aim to transfer collagen directly through the skin to the problem areas. Unfortunately, these products are only capable of transferring partial collagen proteins, instead of the whole molecules used in other therapies. Because of this their results are often sporadic and temporary.

An alternative to partial protein treatments is the development of Hydroderm Age-Defying Wrinkle Reducer. This advanced wrinkle cream is capable of transferring whole collagen molecules directly through the facial skin. This provides a viable substitute to collagen injections since it can produce the superior results of injections, without the pain and expense. The compounding effect of this cream ensures that the effects will last long beyond the course of treatment. These advantages, combined with a reasonable cost, make the Hydroderm Age-Defying Wrinkle Reducer the best choice for consumers seeking an effective anti-aging treatment.

The Hydroderm line of superior skin products offers a pain-free and cost effective alternative to expensive procedures. Best of all, you can receive a 2 Month Free Trial of the Age-Defying Wrinkle Reducer to try without risk. You can find more information about this special offer at Hydrodermatology.com

Don’t be mistaken by the trash advertisements in magazines and the promising claims in commercials that sound good. Be critically minded and assure to it that you are well informed before you buy the body building supplements.

Apart from what we have already mentioned, you also have to determine whether you have to build muscle or you have to burn fats. These two problems require separate solutions and therefore, separate requirements for body building supplements.

For people aiming to build muscles, the common choices you are likely to encounter are creatine, prohormones, whey protein, amino acids and testosterone boosters.

For people who want to burn their fats though, they need to look for products that are largely based on carb blockers, appetite suppressants, fat burners and stimulant-free body building supplements.

Now, if you address your body building problems, you are sure to find efficacy in the supplements of your choice.

How to Mix Business With Pleasure

Document scanning is an advantageous step to take for your business for many reasons. Documents are kept more secure, retrieval time is slashed in half, organization is much more logical, etc. Now that you have all of your information conveniently scanned, you do not need those pesky, room-using, filing cabinets. What are you going to do with all of that room? Have you noticed your office can use a bit of revamping? Why not? You have just saved your company time, money, and energy by making the sagacious move in using scanning services, so why not reward yourself?

Have you ever heard the saying, “The clothes make the man/woman?” Well, think of the decor of your office in the same manner. The ambience of your office is a reflection upon you. People come in for meetings, maybe they see it during teleconferences, or during your photo shoot for Forbes. The point is you need to have your office looking sleek and professional.

The following is a list of suggestions from your document management friends; we are not just brains, we have a sense of style as well:

– Go with wood or stainless steel for your desk and shelves (mix and match if you like)

–You most likely spend a some time in your chair so make sure it is conducive to comfort as well as good looking (this is one of the areas you can sacrifice style for comfort)

–A couch or love seat is a nice addition to the office (try and match it with your chair)

–Think about installing shelves as opposed to having an entire entity devoted to holding books it will save money and open up the office

–Adding a rug will be a nice touch and will add more personality to the room

–Hang your awards, diplomas, and some aesthetic pieces of art along the walls to give the place a personal touch

–Plants will freshen up the room and add some life and scent

–A fish tank with some color, tropical fish is a great addition

–Lamps come in all different shapes and sizes

–Along with pieces of art comes the frames to put them in

–A clock will add to the decor in a stylish way (one could even add several clocks for different time zones)

–Add some other things that are really you. If you are a golfer - try an electronic putter; if you like cars- throw in some model cars; if you are a kid at heart- look for some retro toys to throw in the mix; the possibilities are endless. Now that document scanning has given you the room, fill in your office with some incredible ideas!

Florida Mortgage Broker Discusses the Value of Patience

It’s Your Life

If you plan to purchase a home in the near future, or if you are planning to refinance your current mortgage, you should understand the importance of the decision that you are about to make. The word mortgage is derived from two French words. The first word MORT means death, and the second word GAGE means pledge. Together they mean, in effect, that you are about to enter into a death pledge. This sounds a bit grim and may overstate the gravity of the commitment that you are about to make, but no matter how you look at it a mortgage is a serious commitment that deserves your attention.

Pre-Qualification Makes Sense

I have been a Florida mortgage broker since 1989 and run a mortgage company that serves the states of Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Virginia. I speak to a significant number of people on a daily basis about their finances. Often people will call and ask to be pre-qualified months before they have begun the process of looking for a home. This is something that we strongly encourage. In some cases these prospective home owners are perfectly qualified and there is little that they need to do to prepare for making a formal mortgage application. But this is the exception to the rule. The majority of people that we speak to could benefit greatly by organizing their finances before making application.

Patience Makes Perfect

When we see that a prospective home owner could benefit from some preparation before shopping for a home we are happy to help them structure a detailed plan. In most cases sixty to ninety days of preparation is sufficient to move a borrower into the position to qualify for a better mortgage with a lower interest rate. Would you be surprised to hear that many people have trouble waiting that extra couple of months to purchase a home? This is in spite of the fact that they may have been renting for years prior to considering home ownership. It seems that the moment that the thought of buying a home occurs to most people they feel compelled to start shopping. Please consider the benefits of a little bit of patience.

One Percent Goes a Long Way

Unless you are well qualified and have perfect credit you may discover that a bit of preparation will save you more than a full percentage on your interest rate. As an example, if you were to borrow two hundred and fifty thousand dollars a single percentage point on your rate will mean a difference of sixty four dollars per month. That adds up to almost two thousand dollars per year - and sixty thousand dollars over the life of your mortgage. For many people the annual savings of two thousand dollars could be well used on other things. It may not be likely that you will have your mortgage for a full thirty years, but regardless, the potential savings will add up.

Pick Up the Phone

Pick up the phone and call your friendly mortgage broker. As a Florida mortgage broker these are the calls that I love to get. Prepared customers make our job easy. Tell your mortgage broker that you are planning to purchase a home or refinance in the near future. Ask for their advice. You should specifically ask them what things you can do over the next two or three months that could make a difference in your interest rate. A good mortgage broker will run your credit for free and be willing to take the time to review your entire situation.

The Game Plan

Everyone has a different situation so the advice that your mortgage broker will give you will, of course, be custom tailored for you. But there are several important categories that can have the largest impact on your ability to qualify for the best and lowest cost mortgage possible. The content of your credit report will be very important. There are quite a few powerful credit repair strategies that your mortgage broker might suggest which could have an important impact on your credit score within any sixty day period of time. In addition to your credit the other categories include your income, your assets - including the handling of any gifts you might be receiving, and your property. In each of these cases there are strategies for preparation and documentation that can make all the difference.

“The M.O.O.D. Lounge” By Zondra Hughes - Book Review

The M.O.O.D. Lounge
by Zondra Hughes

Lulu (2007)
ISBN 9780979166600

In “The M.O.O.D. Lounge” men finally have learned to sexually satisfy women. In doing so, they manage to set back the women’s movement by decades. In a form of sexual enslavement, the women have reassumed their roles to serve men, and they also start supporting them. This all includes doing their cleaning, cooking, and taking care of them financially. The men have started staying at home and not doing anything except engaging in their own sexual interests and pampering themselves. This is not acceptable.

Sex therapist, Dr. Pat Rizzo, who says, “Women are being sexed into stupidity,” has created the M.O.O.D. Lounge to help women overcome their sexual dependence upon men. She calls this condition “Lover’s Lobotomy Syndrome,” or LLS. Using survey results for women, Dr. Rizzo carefully selects three women who all have major cases of LLS. M.O.O.D. stands for “Multiple Orgasms on Demand.” It is described as “a self-esteem-enhancing journey into erotica that takes courage, sexual awareness and honesty.”

The cases of the three selected women are reviewed using sex diaries, observations, and confessions. Their names are Dru, Fawn, and Eva. Each one has a very interesting story to tell about their dysfunctional relationships. Dr. Rizzo has them form a support group in which they first must accept that they have LLS and that their lovers are really losers. The next step is to teach these women how to sexually satisfy themselves. This involves using B.O.B.s, which are battery operated boyfriends. Once the women learn how to please themselves, it lessens their dependence upon men. This allows women to become more selective about the men that they choose to have in their lives. The men that are worth salvaging can be taught to be worthy lovers.

I really enjoyed reading “The M.O.O.D. Lounge.” The author Zondra Hughes has written a fun fictional novel that has capitalized on an issue that seems to be coming too real in our society. There are plenty of real women that would be diagnosed with LLS. At first, the characters in this story seem to be exaggerated in their behaviors with men. That is what makes it fun to read. As I read and reflected on this issue, the more I thought about how many real women could be in this story. In the back section of the book there is a “MOOD Manual,” that offers some great advice on sexual self-satisfaction and becoming a strong empowered woman.

“The M.O.O.D. Lounge” is a must read, especially for women’s groups. The discussions that can come from this book will range from hysterically funny to thought provoking. Women really need to read this to take back their power!

Chiropractic Education In North America

Find Chiropractic Education in the United States and Canada. Prospective applicants in North America have ample opportunities to earn their chiropractic education through one of several chiropractic schools and universities. Students desiring to become doctors of chiropractic must receive adequate chiropractic education and training in a course-intensive curriculum involving studies in anatomy, clinical nutrition, chemistry/biochemistry, bacteriology, pathology, physiology, radiology, and practical chiropractic techniques.

Because it is one of the largest health care professions, chiropractic education is instrumental in teaching students the art, science and philosophy of this fascinating healing modality. As a natural health care alternative, chiropractic education may seem to be a simple course of study; however, do not let the guise of natural healing fool you into believing that it will be that easy. Chiropractic education courses are quite the challenge, and most prospective students will discover that certain prerequisites must be met prior to applying. For example, many chiropractic education programs require students to have at least earned a bachelor’s degree and/or other formal education.

Chiropractic education programs also require a great deal of dedication and effort - in addition to continuing education courses beyond graduation, students enrolled in chiropractic education courses will learn that most states require a minimum standard of hours and licensure, which means that students can expect to be participating in a long-term course of study with a minimum of 4,200 hours of class/clinical instruction. Furthermore, some chiropractic education programs are often extended to successful graduates seeking supplementary training in particular areas of pathology and/or specialty.

Overall, chiropractic education enables future doctors to use and apply learned knowledge and skills to form diagnosis and to adjust the spine, which is believed to reduce pressure on the nervous system; and, in turn, helps the nervous system to function properly. In doing so, the body is allowed to heal itself naturally. There is a great deal of interest and growth potential in this profession; and for students seeking something extraordinary in learning, a chiropractic education may just be what the doctor ordered.

If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding a quality chiropractic education, let career training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore career school programs near you.

Fitness Weight Loss - How Can You Use Fitness Weight Loss To Your Advantage?

Weight loss is a common topic of conversation. The standard Western diet has introduced high amounts of fat, oils, sugar and processed foods that have led to a weight problem that affects most countries. Fitness weight loss is an option that is more palatable than only decreasing calorie intake.

Fitness weight loss can take many forms. The objective is to keep moving for at least 10 minutes working up to 60 minutes as your schedule allows. Fitness weight loss programs can include, but are not limited to, walking, running, swimming, rowing, tennis, and golf.

Continued movement will give you the health benefits that include fitness, weight loss, increased energy, decreased cholesterol and blood pressure as well as improving your core muscle strength.

As with any fitness weight loss program you should always check with your doctor before beginning. Your physician will consider your current medical conditions, medications and your present physical condition. The potential for more harm than good comes when you approach a fitness weight loss program without consideration for your current conditions when another fitness option may be better for you.

There are specific muscles that should be strengthened in a fitness weight loss program and the core muscles should always be included. Most programs focus on the muscles that are important to the particular exercise but ignoring core muscle strength can cause long term back problems.

Hard abdominal muscles are not only sexy but they serve a specific function to your health. These muscles are located between your pelvis and your ribs and are in charge of giving you full range of movement to your upper body and to keep your internal organs in place and protected. With weak abdominal muscles you are set up for injury and make it less likely that you will achieve your goals.

A study from the American University of St Louis found that although diet and exercise help with weight loss, people who do not exercise also lose muscle. Fitness weight loss is likely choice to keep your health, muscles and lose that weight.

Fitness weight loss programs are more successful when the client has the support of the people around them. Recent studies have also shown that people who diet or exercise with a partner or a group will tend to be more successful at fitness weight loss and in keeping it off than those who try to go it alone.

Research backs up the current popular standard that fitness weight loss is the most successful way to lose weight, keep it off and improve your health. There are an amazing number of fitness weight loss programs that you can work through. The choice is really yours. You chose health!

How Important Is An Attorney To Your Real Estate Transaction

Would you sign your name to a multi-million-dollar contract for the company for which you work without an attorney first looking it over? Probably not, because it is your fiduciary responsibility to ensure there is no adverse language in the contract. Yet, we do it for ourselves all the time.

Years ago when I enlisted into the U.S. Navy, several of us were in the same room to sign our enlistment contracts with the government of the United States. Afterwards, we would together go on to the next phase of the enlistment process. Everyone had signed their contracts without reading it and they were grumbling, because I would not sign my contract until I had read every word. The contract was many pages in length and lots of small print. After one guy was a bit too aggressive in his complaints of me making them wait, I quietly looked him straight in the eyes and said, “You signed your contract without reading it. Did you know that you have agreed to jump off the end of a naval ship into the ocean amidst a ring of fire?” The guy laughed and said the contract did not say that. The senior chief, who was supervising us and in the room, said the contract did say that. While everyone else went green in color and looking ready to throw up, I finished reading the contract. You could say that jumping into a ring of fire in the ocean from a very big naval vessel might be construed as “adverse language” in a contract.

Signing purchase agreements for real estate is no different; yet, many people sign them every day without reading them, much less having an attorney review them.

The average home will cost you a long-term commitment upwards of $135,000 - much more in the San Diego area. You are going into debt for a large amount of money over a long period of time. It is important to have a real estate attorney review such a contract, as it is for creating any other contract.

A real estate attorney will tell you if the purchase is advisable, if it should be modified to protect you if the transaction goes bad, if it is legally binding as written, and whether there is any adverse language in it. You should be protected against any contingencies and possible outcomes.

The services of a real estate attorney may cost $200 or more to review the contract. Though many realtors assist in this capacity, a real estate attorney is more knowledgeable and experienced, ensuring you get the best advice. That same real estate attorney can represent you in court, where the realtor can only shrug his/her shoulders and, maybe, offer an apology. Additionally, the real estate attorney can prepare all needed real estate documentation, including warranty deeds, title opinions, and documents to clear any title defects.

There are times when having a real estate attorney review a contract could cost you the deal - you could be up against another buyer, who wants the same property and the seller will not wait for the review, which the other buyer is not requiring. In such a case, only sign the purchase agreement after adding the clause: “Subject to review and approval by attorney of buyer’s choosing.”

Remember, once the contract is signed without a contingency clause, it is too late for redress. At that point, a real estate attorney can only advise you on what you have done and little else. The time to hire the real estate attorney is before you sign on the dotted line, not afterward.

Why That Book How Do Readers Decide To Try A New Author

Fans of bestselling authors make a beeline for their favorite writers at the bookstore, hardly pausing on the way from tables stacked high with the latest and greatest to the cash register. But sometimes another John Grisham, Nora Roberts, or Danielle Steel isn’t quite what you’re in the mood for.

When browsing through the stacks of novels at the local bookstore, how does a customer choose a new author? Marketing research firms spend thousands of dollars trying to determine consumer behavior and ways to manipulate that behavior.

Have you ever watched customers meandering through the aisles, picking up one book, perusing the cover, then selecting another? Why do they select any one particular book?

We conducted an unscientific survey to see if we could find out. Most readers, even when selecting a new author, will stay within their favorite genre, whether romance, mystery or thriller.

Word of mouth,or recommended by a friend was the factor most often mentioned as the number one factor. Some books are simply so memorable that readers become anxious to tell their friends about them. Publishers spend millions of dollars on advertising, book tours, etc., but one of the most powerful forces driving a book’s success is basic grass roots, one-on-one word of mouth.

Readers told us:

“Someone tells me about a book they really like, so I try it. If I like it too, then I pass on the information as well as looking for other books by the same author.”

“I buy a lot of books based on comments made on one or two online book groups where we post our reads for the month. Again, I particularly note comments from people whose tastes I know are similar to mine.”

“How do I select to read books by a new-to-me author? Almost totally from recommendations from people I know. In this case word of mouth sells. If I hear enough people raving about a new author…I will get the book.”

The cover either entices or detracts. Cover art was most often mentioned in the number one or number two spot. The importance of the cover is reflected in the enormous amount of time and effort publishers and authors devote to designing the cover, often going through dozens of variations before deciding which one is perfect (they think).

Another interesting aspect of covers is how successful ones are imitated. Just look at how many recent chick lit novels feature bright colors, highly stylized lettering and cartoon type characters.

Don’t judge a book by its cover doesn’t ring true with most readers.

They told us:

“First, I look at the cover. If it has a half-naked woman, I put it back.”

“I take my books with me to read while I’m waiting and I’d rather have a nice scene on the cover.”

“If I’m just looking through the shelves, the cover catches my eye first.”

“It’s the cover that will attract me pick up the book.”

But not every reader feels this way.

“For me, the cover has no effect on choosing a book.”

“I do most of my book shopping online. I rarely buy in the store. Having said that, the cover does not sway me at all.”

The infamous back cover blurb overwhelmingly had the most votes, but in second or third place, not in first. The back cover blurb wasn’t the key deciding factor for many readers. Perusing a sample chapter either clinched the sale or resulted in the reader deciding not to buy.

Readers said:

“The description on the back cover is the first test. Then, I read the first couple of pages. If I’m not hooked, I keep looking.”

“I pick the book up and flip it over to read the back cover.”

“Then I read the blurb and a sample chapter if they provide one. If not, I look for the author’s website and see if they have a sample chapter up.”

While many authors valiantly struggle to get reviews and endorsements from well known celebrities and authors, it really doesn’t hold much sway over the majority of readers. Reviews increase the visibility of an author and their books, but it isn’t the deciding factor of whether to read that particular book.

Readers told us:

“I don’t go by recommendations generally…such as the pages and pages of book recommendations by newspapers, magazines, people I never heard of.”

“I only take notice of reviews from reviewers I respect, and who I’ve been reading regularly for some time.”

“I don’t even look at the endorsements on the cover/inside the book by other authors. I once bought a book based on an endorsement by an author that I liked, and I hated the book. It left me wondering if these authors actually even read the book.”

Of course being selected by Kelly Ripa in Reading with Ripa, or by Oprah Winfrey is the exception to the rule. Carly Philips’ “The Bachelor” went to number one on amazon.com in a matter of hours after being selected by Kelly.

So it would seem that the main factors in the buy decision are:

Personal recommendations
Cover art,
Back cover blurb,
The writing itself

But there were some interesting comments that really don’t fit in any of those categories.

Readers mentioned:

“I also like to attend local author presentations my library to show support for fellow writers.”

“I rarely will even look at a book with less than 375 pages long– unless it’s a beloved author or the subject matter has influence upon something I’m writing.”

“One of the authors in the anthology had such enthusiasm in her postings about her first published novel, that I wanted to show her that at least one stranger in the whole world cares enough to buy her book. I felt good doing it, and now I find it was a darn good purchase. I love that.”

“If it is by a new author I have met online or at the book fair at I felt was nice towards me I’ll buy a book from them. I know this sounds vain but I refuse to support a person who is rude to me.”
