Search Engine Optimization - Website Visibility Optimization

I get a lot of questions about SEO or search engine optimization. A lot of people and companies want their web site at the top of the search engines, and so, by association, they think SEO will do it for them, and to some extent it will. But, SEO is a blanket term, with a number of newly evolving ideas and techniques that is a bit of a misnomer. Instead of focusing solely on a ranking in a search result, which is still very powerful and one of the best ways to gain consistent quality traffic, SEO is quickly involving creative marketing and PR techniques to gain viral traffic using various social media and social book marking outlets.

I propose we reanalyze what you, our web design and internet marketing clients really want. What do you want? Search engine rankings are just a step, a means to an end. The final goal of SEO is to send droves of quality, targeted visitors to your site, by ranking well. PPC accounts can also send lots of quality visitors instantly, for (at least initially) less then the cost of an “SEO” campaign. So you want quality visitors. People to visit your site, read your information, purchase or click on your advertising. That’s what you really want.

I purpose we rename SEO to WVO… Website Visibility Optimization.

In their article “SEO as Website Positioning Strategy? - Updated” Emergence Media observes the same. But, they have a different name in mind… Website Positioning Strategy. The great article goes in depth on the types of strategies involved in orchestrating and manipulating your website’s positioning online.

In addition to Emergence’s suggestions, I believe there needs to be a greater concentration, from the ground up, to build standards based sites and designs that are easily index-able and accessible. There needs to be more concentration on the foundation of a site as a facilitator of great rankings. Like a home, everything rests on that initial foundation.

So what does WVO involve? It involves:

  • Site Construction (Proper, Appropriate Coding)
  • Continued Content Generation (probably through a site blog)
  • Community Involvement (participation in online communities related to your industry/web)
  • Offline PR Efforts with an emphasis on online link building (charitable events, Press Releases, etc.)

No matter what we call it, the changing landscape of SEO and the tactics used to drive traffic and gain search rankings is a positive and rewarding experience for both the authors of sites as well as their visitors. And, by keeping your website visibility optimization or website positioning strategy in mind from the beginning you will be better prepared for success online.

Postpartum Depression Or Is It Just The ‘Baby Blues’ - Believe Me There’s A Real Difference

Following the birth of a child, some women suffer from postpartum depression. The fact is the “baby blues” can be very serious and it’s incredibly important for loved ones and the woman herself to be able to recognize them and seek out help when it’s necessary.

Postpartum depression is not a condition to take lightly. With horrific headlines making the national news, almost everyone has heard of this condition in its worst possible forms, but many don’t realize that a woman doesn’t necessarily need to become the story of the week to suffer from this most devastating of conditions.

While postpartum depression can present in varying severities, the condition is still one that should be taken very seriously. Not all women with this condition will become headline makers, but most who have it will rob themselves and their child of the first few incredible weeks together.

The causes for this condition are many. Considering what a woman has to endure during pregnancy, delivery and following the birth of a child, the reasons for postpartum depression should be evident. With a physical and emotional toll taken that no man can truly ever understand, pregnancy is wrought with wonders and sometimes even horrors. A lack of sleep, a hormonal roller coaster ride, pain and even a feeling of inadequacy or fear can combine to make this condition present in even the most “stable” of women. Add the baby into the mix and the lack of sleep that will now become norm, and the reasons for this condition should be fairly evident.

The symptoms of postpartum depression are somewhat similar to regular, adult depression. But they do have some variances. The signs of this condition include extreme sadness or hopelessness, irritability, change of diet, difficulty concentrating, a desire to withdraw from friends, family and even the baby and so on. When these signs show up for a two-week period or longer, they can be signals of a more serious condition.

Those who suffer from postpartum depression can and should seek help. It is available and the truth is not seeking it can rob a very good mother of the first few weeks of her child’s life or worse. This condition is one that has many real causes and it also has some cures that are effective.

While the baby blues is pretty normal considering the ordeal that is childbirth and pregnancy, when the signs and symptoms last longer than a few days, help for postpartum depression is very likely in order. Seeking help doesn’t make a woman a bad mother or a bad person. Facing it alone isn’t necessary and it’s not recommended.

Do you know a new mother who has told you they felt life wasn’t worth living? Do you think they could be suffering from postpartum depression or could it just be a case of the ‘baby blues’? Visit Some Depression Info RIGHT NOW and get some interesting facts about depression, depression treatment and the various forms of depression medication available. It could literally mean the difference between life and death.

Internet Marketing Sales – What Keeps You From Making Your Fair Share?

There you sit. You’ve read your 100th ebook on making money online. You’ve got at least a gigabyte’s worth of reports and “how to” teleseminars cluttering your hard drive. You’ve learned so much your head is about to explode. Your printer is still smoking!

But here it is, months (or even years) after you first started this avocation and you’re still struggling to get people to sign up to be on your opt-in list. You haven’t made that $3000 in 30 days like the report said you could. In fact, you’re $500 in the hole.

Is it because you - the average JoAnne or Joe Internet Marketer just can’t get a break? Why is it so hard to make any money online? How do the pros and gurus really do it? What’s the secret they’re not letting you in on? You’ve got all the information, but you still come up short. Why? Here are two obvious possibilities:

Number 1: You found that you had a ton of information, none of which came with a step-by-step method of application, or…

Number 2: You discovered that your information included clear step-by-step instructions but you chose, for whatever reason, not to apply any of it.

If you’re not getting results because of reason #1, cheer up. There is help. In fact, it doesn’t even come in an ebook. It has appeared on the affiliate marketing scene as the latest breed of affiliate marketing methodologies. In my “day job” (and yes, I do still have one as of this writing), the folks I work for are always coming up with catchy acronyms for absolutely everything. So, naturally I’ve begun to refer to this new type of website model as Online Application Super Entrepreneurial Sites - O.A.S.E.S. for short.

The one thing that these sites have in common is the apparent genuine desire of the site owners to help you cut to the chase and start making a living online. How do they do it? Obviously by selling you either more information or offering free or paid levels of membership. That’s nothing new. What sets them apart from the typical affiliate sales site is their method of content delivery and the vast amount of material they offer you to use in your own promotion.

Some of these O.A.S.E.S. merely sport a helpful affiliate manager (yes, a live person!) and a responsive (albeit automated) Help Desk. Other O.A.S.E.S. come complete with forums full of active affiliates who produce auxiliary videos and articles to get you in profit in a hurry. After all, every step they take to help you helps the program itself. There are even sites that let you create affiliate squeeze pages and host them on their servers. You won’t need a website, but you will need a dependable autoresponder service.

Are you ready to join forces with an O.A.S.E.S.? Chances are you’ve already seen them advertised. You may already be a member of one right now and just don’t realize it. Here’s a hint: can you get help at a forum specifically associated with the program? Does the site offer relevant articles that help you build your business? Do you enjoy promoting that site?

Here’s the deal breaker, though: have you been contacted personally by the person who referred you to the site? You see, every time a marketer recruits someone by way of advertising, they get a notice. If you haven’t yet been welcomed by your “sponsor” then get busy. Silence on his or her part leaves the door wide open for you to assume a leadership role with the people you will soon be recruiting.

5 Dirty Tricks Banks And Brokers Don’t Want You To Know About

Don’t get me wrong. Not every bank/broker is dishonest, but there are definitely enough of them out there that I know of that shouldn’t be in the business. Some might take the position that the following “Dirty Tricks” aren’t dirty at all. My response is, if they aren’t dirty, then why is it that so many of the clients I deal with tell me they didn’t get all the facts from their previous banker/broker till they heard it from the bank attorney at the closing?

Here’s my top 5 list of dirty tricks banks and brokers don’t want you to know about:

Dirty Trick #1:

NegAm Loans or Option Arms are the hot product at the moment with every mortgage company. People are eating them up because they’re advertised with a 1-4% interest rate. Bankers and brokers get paid a ton of money to sell these things. They usually come with 3 points built into the rate and a 3 year pre-pay! They’re taught to pitch the rate and payment and to only skim over the rest of the details. Here’s what you need to know.

NegAm or Option Arm is just a fancy way of not calling the loan what it really is, a Negative Amortization loan. Here’s a loan that’s payments are so low that they don’t even cover the interest owed every month. Every month you make your minimum payment the mortgage balance goes up. You keep losing equity until the loan is “recast” usually around the 3rd year. What recast means is they can raise your payment (like 200% or more!) to “help” you catch up on the equity you’ve lost.

You can even end up owing more than your house is worth. If you have an interest only or adjustable loan and someone calls you to sell you this type of loan…run.

Dirty Trick #2:

Beware of companies that push Interest Only mortgages. These programs are harmless enough when used correctly, but what I’ve seen doesn’t qualify. I’ve seen banks and brokers use these programs for first time homebuyers who otherwise could never afford a home. They’re so excited to buy a home they let themselves be pushed into a program that will eventually hurt them financially.

Look, if your monthly debt payments, including your proposed mortgage, taxes, and insurance, are more than half your monthly income, you can’t afford that house. End of story. When a bank or broker states your income is higher than it is, then uses an interest only loan with an adjustable rate mortgage just to get you in the house, you’re destined for foreclosure. The adjustable rate will adjust, the interest only part of the loan will expire, and you’ll have to scramble to keep up with the rising payments until you’re broke.

Dirty Trick #3:

Most lenders charge a monthly fee when you borrow or owe more than 80% of your home’s value on one mortgage. They call it “Private Mortgage Insurance” or PMI. This is ton of cash you give to their private mortgage insurance company to insure them, the lender, in case you default. It doesn’t cover you at all.

The truth is that it’s almost always cheaper to break the loan up into two mortgages. The combined payment is almost always lower than the one, and there’s no PMI either.

Dirty Trick #4

Pre-payment penalties are fees some banks charge you if you try to payoff more than 20% of the loan in the first few years either by selling or refinancing your house. The problem is if you’re stuck in a bad loan, you’ll have to pay to get out.

A few states, like NY, have made these penalties illegal, but some crafty lenders use federal charters to charge them to you anyway.

What I mean is that the federal government can override state laws, so some of these bankers use the government to charge you more! As much as 6% of your loan size just to get out of your loan!

Unless you’re taking a fixed mortgage, steer clear of prepayment penalties. There are plenty of banks who don’t have them.

Dirty Trick #5:

This is the biggest dirty trick of them ALL. Bankers get something called a “Service Spread Premium” when they sell their loans. Brokers get “Yield Spread Premiums”.

Whatever they want to call it, it means the bank could have gotten you a lower rate and payment, but instead decided to lower your rate just enough to make the deal worth while for you while they pocket the rest of the cash. The banks and brokers make more money and you get higher payments.

There are certain situations in which all of these “tricks” are valid and useful. When they’re used in the client’s best interest, for one. But when they’re used to make the bank or broker more money at the client’s expense, then in my opinion, they’re as dirty as the day is long.

Natural Remedy for Yeast Infection

Many men and women prefer a natural remedy for their yeast infection over both the prescription and over-the-counter options that are available. The reasons are usually both cost and fewer side effects from the treatment.

Yeast organisms exist naturally in every man, woman and child. Yeast infections don’t usually happen unless we, as humans, do something or fail to do something to keep the natural balance in place. Poor hygiene, obesity, unhygienic sex practices, antibiotics and other factors can contribute to the imbalance that allows yeast infections to form.

Once a yeast infection develops, we often seek a natural remedy for yeast infections before we check with medical professionals.

You should consult with a medical professional but some of the more common natural remedies are listed below.

Yogurt, acidophilus and apple cider vinegar are three common home remedies that are used to treat yeast infections.

Acidophilus can be purchased at many health food stores and plain yogurt is available at many grocery stores. Do NOT purchase yogurt with flavoring or sugars if you intend to use it as a remedy. Eating the yogurt and the acidophilus will help restore your body’s natural balance.

Apple cider vinegar is one of the best home remedies for yeast infection but it is too strong to apply at full strength. You need to put it in your bath water or otherwise dilute it so you don’t cause yourself any additional discomfort.

You can drink a glass of buttermilk a day to help build up resistance to yeast infections. Drinking buttermilk will also make it easier to heal a yeast infection should you get another.

Are You Broke? It’s Time to Focus on the Way You Like To Make Money

If you suddenly find yourself a paying member of “multiple streams of income” that leave you with only multiple hits to your bank account each month and not even a trickle from any of those alleged streams, don’t despair. There is a cure for this type of financial blood letting. It’s painful and, for some, even boring. But it’s extremely necessary. It’s called “focus”.

At the risk of sounding like a motivational writer, I’ll treat focus as an acronym to the important steps of getting your bank account back into the black if you’re currently experiencing more outgo than income.

F = find a way to make money that makes you happy and gives value to others

O = offer your guidance to others when and where appropriate

C = commit to spending less than you earn

U = use your creativity to go beyond the tools and resources your upline or affiliate program provides

S = seriously evaluate your progress each week to make sure you’re prospering, not just piddling.

OK, now that THAT’s out of the way, here’s the first trick: make the decision to improve your situation. This can be as simple as working on one program that will bring you the most money over time. Alternatively, it could be focusing instead on a program that could potentially make you the most money in the shortest amount of time.

Either way, it makes the most sense to work on other “helper” programs to get the money rolling into your one main program of focus. Such “helper” programs include opt-in list building sites, traffic exchanges that let you build downlines and make contacts, and URL trackers.

The second trick is to find and follow a proven strategy that will get you out of debt and into profit. There are several available from many self-appointed online marketing or network marketing gurus. Ironically, the best program is not always the most expensive one. Sadly, unless you believe this and know someone who can point you in the direction of a guru that gives more value for money, you could burn through your cash in a heart beat.

For my money, I choose introductory products from Ewen Chia. Ewen is relatively new to the online affiliate marketing scene and has distinguished himself by becoming a “Super Affiliate Marketer”. Not only does he know the fundamentals of selling other people’s products, he also has a superior way of teaching others how to do exactly what he did to gain the title of “Super Affiliate Marketer”.

So, obviously, if you want to make money as an affiliate marketer, Ewen is one person you can look to for guidance. There are other, more “established” gurus on the playing field. My experience has been that the old-timers started at a time when people hungered for their “wisdom” and were therefore willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money for courses and seminars. The old-timers will still try and sneak in a 4-digit price tag every now and then to sell you information that you can easily and (usually) freely find by lurking in professional marketing forums.

Occasionally, the new gurus get greedy and try to peddle high-ticket regurgitations of information they’ve already sold you. Buyer beware. Conversely, old-timer gurus will occasionally toss out free or low cost bones to snag you for their ever-growing mailing list. Freebie seeker, beware - you could be the next fish on the pole that drags you into the deep waters, playing the guru’s game instead of focusing on your own attempt at doing what’s in your best interest to make money. Stay focused!

A Natural Hangover Cure

Make sure you wear green so you don’t get pinched. Go out to the bars, throw your drink in the air- Cheers! It’s St. Patty’s Day. Even if you’re not Irish, it’s an excuse to celebrate and party.

You’ve had a good time enjoying the holiday festivities, and now, the dread morning after, you might need a little help. Your head feels like a leprechaun is banging you with a sledge hammer; your mouth is as dry as when the dentist suctions your mouth; your body feels like it’s on a swing, and your mind is wondering what to do about it.

If you’re hungover -a mild form of dehydration- it’s your body’s way of trying to process the alcohol and rid your system of it, while breaking down the alcohol in your body.

Nutritionist, Jeannette Freed, says, “The day after drinking, your body not only needs to replenish its water supply, but also its potassium and magnesium. To help restore nutrients after your night out, try drinking 100% natural coconut water-refreshing and nutritious water from inside a young, green (not brown) coconut. Natural coconut water re-hydrates your body, has more electrolytes and potassium (more potassium than bananas) than conventional sports drinks, few calories, no artificial additives, and is naturally fat-free.”

Whether you’ve partied or not, natural coconut water hydrates you, and has many other health benefits as well.

Jeannette says, “Drinking natural coconut water helps with digestion, optimizes muscle performance (so drink it after exercising), boosts your immune system and circulation, raises your metabolism, and keeps your body at the proper temperature. Around the world, women put coconut water directly on their skin for hydration.”

Even if you wear green on St. Patty’s day, you might feel like you got pinched due to that morning-after-drinkin’ feeling, and will need a little shamrock luck. Cure your hangover and gain other health benefits by drinking coconut water.

Drink coconut water brands such as Zico (found in your local grocery store) and you’ll find yourself feeling like a pot of gold.

Carrots, Diet Bars, and Other Snacks That Make You Fatter Instead of Thinner

If you’re trying to lose weight, you are no doubt familiar with what’s healthy and what’s not. You may also be aware that one primary key to weight loss is cutting carbs. However, what I’m about to tell you will go against everything you’ve ever heard about dieting and nutrition. One of the biggest reasons so many diets fail is that some so-called “health foods” actually cause you to gain weight, instead of lose it.

Perhaps the most surprising culprit here is vegetables — specifically, the ones that grow underground. Did you know that underground or root vegetables are high in carbohydrates? Carrots are supposed to be good for you, but they contain high amounts of carbs, sugar, and calories. Onions, potatoes, beets, and turnips also fall into the category of high carbohydrate content vegetables to avoid, if you want to actually lose weight.

Another health food category that isn’t as healthy as you think is beans. Green beans are fine (as long as they’re fresh, and not frozen or canned, since pre-packaged vegetables contain a lot of sodium), but any other vegetable with the word “bean” in its name — lima beans, garbanzo beans, red beans, and kidney beans, for example — have to go.

What about fruit? As a general rule, anyone trying to lose weight should stick to fresh food, and that includes fruit. Many dieters believe drinking a glass of fruit juice, or eating a serving of something made primarily with fruit (such as applesauce) is interchangeable with a serving of fruit. This is definitely not the case.

As an example, let’s look at the humble apple and its associated alternatives:

1 medium apple, cut = 19 carbs

1 serving unsweetened applesauce = 28 carbs

8 oz. apple juice = 29 carbs

See the difference? It’s easy to assume all these food items are good for us, since they have been categorized as health foods since our grade school days when we learned the food pyramid. Unfortunately, these assumptions represent the strong possibility that you won’t be able to lose weight, because you’ll be taking in far more carbs than you realize.

Finally, there is the myth surrounding diet bars. What could be better for a diet than these tasty meal substitutes with “diet” right in the name? Personally, I see no need for them. I lost a significant amount of weight without resorting to diet bars. The problem is not that they’re inherently bad for you — it’s a matter of quantity over quality. Since diet bars are easy to eat, they make it easy to cheat. They are low in carbs, but high in calories and fat. If you eat more than one of them at a sitting, you’re not going to lose weight.

Now that you know the hidden facts about “health foods,” go forth and diet with more confidence!

Turbo Charge Your Adsense Income Part 3

Do you know why you have a low adsense income? Think about it for a few seconds. I’m going to try and shed some more light on that in a moment. But first, I want to welcome you to part 3 of my free guide to help you turbo-charge your adsense income, and help you have continued long-term success in creating the kind of adsense income you truly desire.

Today I want to focus on the third point in my four corner adsense income formula - Ads!

So I asked you why you had little success with building a high adsense income. Well the answer is this:

Stop thinking of your ads as being ads!

This is crazy, out-of-the-box thinking, but it is the first step you need to take to see an increase in your ad click-thru. But be careful, you don’t want to spread this around too much, and have everyone else stealing your adsense income from you.

Take a moment to ponder this. Imagine you are actually surfing the internet yourself, for fun, not seeking a higher adsense income, and you see something flashing at you, looking like an ad. What do you do?

a) Fly over to click on the ad because you just love adverts

b) Chuckle like a madman at the prospect of being taken away from

the interesting content you’re reading

c) Ignore it saying to yourself “that’s an ad”

You see where I’m going with this then. Every person on this planet is sick of adverts. In your face. Everywhere you go! This is where you need to be creative to increase your adsense income.

You need to make your ads not look like ads, and instead more like useful bites of relevant information just sprinkled between your website content. Simple, eh?

Yes actually. In order to achieve this income boosting status, I’ll give away a few tricks that I learned from Michael Cheney’s Adsense Income Videos (if you want more than these free tricks, check out my link at the bottom of this article) but here’s the free stuff now:

  • Never use the standard Google colour scheme. It screams “I’m an ad, run away”. Instead blend the background colour with the same as your site’s background colour; this will increase your adsense income.
  • Try to match your ads text, and link colour with your site’s text and link colour, this will also help your adsense income.
  • Try placing your ads in the middle of your page, where the content is. For maximum adsense income, blend ads in between paragraphs, remembering to keep text colours the same.
  • Don’t put a border around your ads. Bad for adsense income.
  • In short, make your super adsense income ads “move under the radar”. Make them the opposite of standard ads - namely bright, loud, garish, and annoying. If your ads were music, they’d be jazz. Classy, and sophisticated, as if they couldn’t care less if they get clicked or not.

But take note, I am not asking you to mislead visitors. This is not “black hat”, or something equally sinister. Many people pull in massive adsense incomes every month, using these tactics. Creating a sizeable Adsense income can be fiercely competitive in certain niches, so you need to have all the right tools. Visitors to your site will still know they are clicking on adverts, because the ads by Google text is still there. So relax a little, and stay tuned for the next part of my free Turbo Charge Your Adsense Income guide.
