Setting A Plan

With a new year upon us, many people make resolutions - otherwise known as goals. They plan to achieve something in the coming months that they’ve neglected in the past.

Goal setting is important in business as well. As business people we set goals throughout the year - where we want to go, what we want to accomplish, growth we want to experience. In other words, to attain success as we define it.

The key to reaching those goals is planning. If you want to reach your goals, you have to plan the steps you need to take to get there. Sounds simple, right? And it should be. However, this is the area most people ignore. They set their goals, and then get to the business of each day, never planning the process for reaching those goals. In the end, they may or may not reach their destination. They’ve left it to chance.

If you are going to take the time and energy to set goals, give them the attention they deserve. Set yourself up for success; for reaching your goals.

Steps to follow to reach your goals:

1. Once you have the goal, work backwards establishing the steps necessary to achieve the goal

2. Be specific regarding the steps you’ll take to reach your goal

3. Follow those steps exactly

4. Be prepared to make adjustments to your planning where necessary

5. Visit your goals and your plan on a daily basis

6. Monitor your progress on a weekly and quarterly basis

7. Enlist the help and encouragement of others where appropriate

These steps seem basic. As Jim Rohn says, ‘Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals.’

The basic fundamentals. The KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid). Don’t make it more complicated than it is. Set your plan, monitor your plan and be prepared to make changes to your plan, if need be.

As this new year begins, make a resolution to create a plan for achieving your goals. When the year comes to a close, you’ll look back on great growth, both personal and professional.

Nils “Pacific Coast Highway” Smooth Jazz Music CD Review

Pacific Coast Highway is the latest release from Smooth Jazz Artist Nils, and is another winner from this talented musician.

This one will grab your attention right from the very first note with Pacific Coast Highway and won’t let go until the very last note of the very last song Baja California, which by the way is another great track.

Pacific Coast Highway is a nicely varied, mix of 12 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly outstanding artist. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Clearly drawing from what I can only imagine are his own personal experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, and the pain of failed relationships can certainly be heard.

Nils is one of those musicians that has the ability to just bowl you over with his talent. The kind of artist it’s really a treat to be able to listen to.

Listen to this CD and I believe you’ll find there’s not much to dis-like about it. The songs are inspired and the production is simply outstanding. If you’re even mildly into Smooth Jazz music you’ll enjoy this album.

While the entire album is outstanding the truly standout tracks are Georgy Porgy [track 3], You’ve Got A Friend [track 5], and Baja California [track 12].

My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1, Pacific Coast Highway. Wow!

Imagery & Affirmations - What Is Visualization

WHAT IS VISUALIZATION?

Visualization is a creative image or movie (moving image) you shape in your mind. You make a movie of a person, place or an event you play again and again. This makes an impression on the neural pathways of your brain that become stronger with repetition, playing the same movie again and again. You literally create what you repeatedly think about in your imagination.

Your subconscious mind sees things in black and white. Whatever you say to yourself will be taken at face value by your subconscious mind. It doesn’t know when you are kidding around, or if what you’re interpreting as the truth about your reality is in fact the truth.

Many of the things you tell yourself actually have no foundation in truth and instead may sabotage your best efforts. Thinking the same thoughts about yourself creates images in your mind that continually reinforce your thoughts until they become beliefs and habits.

The LAW OF ATTRACTION operates to magnetize life situations that will further reinforce these faulty beliefs and habits of mind like a self fulfilling prophecy.

When you change the way you perceive and interpret what’s happening in your life situation you’ll start asking different questions and start getting entirely different results.

You can and must get control of what vibrational frequencies, in the form of thoughts and emotions, you’re transmitting to the world in order to start attracting what you want for yourself consistently.

How Does a Musician Deal With Tinnitus?

As a so-called expert on tinnitus and a professional concert pianist I often get asked, “How does tinnitus affect your ability to practice and perform music.” I’d like to answer this question in such a way that my response applies to everyone, not just musicians. Therefore, whenever I talk about music, you must substitute your own dominant creative talent. In other words, just replace music with the desire and creative activity which you aspire to the most.

So, let’s begin. Music is a huge part of my life, yet even though I make the major portion of my income from the music business it doesn’t seem like work at all. It seems more like “play.”

But, this was not always the case. I saw my life in music as a job and not a very enjoyable one at that. This was because the people who I was involved with in the music business were competitors instead of co-creators.

Then when tinnitus came along, it infected me to the point where I no longer enjoyed playing the piano at all. And, I can tell you that it was a very painful experience to not be doing the thing I loved the most. However, once I realized that my resistance to “what is”, in other words my resistance to tinnitus, was causing me to self-sabotage my piano music career, I stopped. Then, I started re-focusing on what I truly wanted, instead of what I didn’t want.

Once focused on music and how I could utilize my talents, experience and energy in a more positive way, my tinnitus no longer became a factor. It no longer kept me from what I wanted which, was a successful music career. Now, that I have it, it keeps growing and getting bigger and my tinnitus is continually taking a back seat to the things that really matter the most to me.

However, until I realized through learning, that I could change my reality by changing my thoughts, nothing would have happened because I didn’t know this was even possible. The key is ‘learning’. I went from being a know-it-all to a learn-it-all pretty much overnight. This drastically changed my perceptions of music and the music business altogether.

So then, I went out in search of people, places, circumstances and events that could support my new version of reality. Once I attracted those things naturally everything seemed to get easier. Opportunity seemed to be around every corner just waiting for me to acknowledge it.

My music career is already by most standards very successful. Have I achieved everything I’ve ever wanted to? No. But, that does not negate the fact that I live everyday as if I’ve already achieved greatness. I know it’s only a matter of physical time before I manifest most of my desires into reality where there’s proof, not only for me, but for everyone else as well.

I’ll let you browse around my website and see some of the things I’ve done. It’s quite an extensive site and you sometimes have to dig deep to get where you’re going but the information about my past experiences and successes are there. Most of these things wouldn’t have been possible without the jolt that tinnitus gave me. Tinnitus helped me realize that I was the only cause of everything around me be it negative or positive. All I had to do then was change my dominant consistent thoughts to include more of “what I want” and less of “what I don’t want.”

Learning the Law of Attraction helped me a great deal in this process. Like attracts like. If I’m constantly worried, afraid and obsessing about things, I get tons of unwanted results I’d rather not have. On the other hand, if I keep monitoring my thoughts and keep reaching for the highest thought in the moment, I tend to materialize with very little effort some amazing results. And, along with those amazing results comes a lot less tinnitus volume.

Music was the key for me. Why? Because, music is my true hearts desire. To succeed on any level in the music business is a bonus. The whole starving artist thing kept me safe but in a place of not having. I want my cake and eat it too. I want a life in music but I also want to be successful at it and if that includes more money, that’s a bonus.

So, to sum up, if I were to offer advice, which I do very rarely, I would say that focusing on your music will not only eliminate your tinnitus but, it will bring you more of everything you want. Reaching for the highest thought, in every moment where you are tempted to have a negative one, will have a tremendous impact on your life situation. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish just by focusing your attention and energy on what you truly want.

I’ll leave you with this thought. “Life is not about struggle, fear, worry and pain, it’s about easily manifesting in a healthy and positive way the things you desire the most. Once you figure out what it is you truly want, and then focus your dominant and consistent thoughts on getting what you want, you cannot fail to get what you want. In the process, your negative self-defeating habits will fade and be replaced with a completely new map of reality - one in which every island exposes a lost treasure that was just waiting for you to uncover it.”

The Pre Foreclosure Guide

Foreclosures are said to be the financial epidemic of our time. There are many reasons that cause people to go into pre foreclosure. To name a few: divorce, layoffs, or change in income, illness, or death in the family. But, the one reason that banks have caused themselves,is from “creative lending”. Many times the loans require little or nothing down, and have low teaser rates with an adjustable mortgage, and rates that shoot skyward after the initial period. There are already too many foreclosures, but this year promises to bring many more, because the adjustable rates that were very low are now going up. The first stage of foreclosure is pre foreclosure. Pre foreclosure is officially defined as the period from which the bank has notified the homeowner(s) that they are in default, until the moment the home is sold at auction. However, even before the bank has notified the owner of default, there has probably been some problem with making the payments on time. This period of time also is a pre foreclosure period. A smart homeowner will look into all available options at that time.

The length of time the homeowner has in this pre foreclosure period depends on the lending institution, and the laws of the state. The lending institution may decide it is time to act after two months of late payments, or maybe six months. Two to three months seems to be typical. The time length that the homeowner has in the pre foreclosure period is also dependent on the laws of the state the property is in. See the resource below to find out what type of state your property is in. There are judicial foreclosure states, and non-judicial foreclosure states. If you live in a non judicial foreclosure state, you can expect an average of about two months from the notice of default to the auction sale. Also a notice of sale is sent. This is often about the same time as the default notice. If the mail is misdirected or delayed, even if the lending institute failed to mail it at the proper time, the process still continues. In a non judicial state, the lender’s file on the homeowner’s mortgage goes to a foreclosure lawyer, hired by the lender. At that time additional fees, which are the attorney fees are added to the amount in arrears.

In a judicial state, the length of time a person can expect to be in the pre foreclosure time period averages about six months. The main difference is that in a judicial state the foreclosure goes through the court system. Getting a court date and having a representative of the lending institution present is what creates the longer time period. Additional fees also build up with judicial foreclosures, which have to be paid in order to bring the loan up to date.

During the pre foreclosure time and the period before pre foreclosure is official,is when the homeowner should be talking to the lending institution. Calling the lender and talking to someone about your situation can be a dreaded, painful experience. But,it is less painful, than having your home taken from you when something could have been worked out. If you are honest with the representative, and keep promises you make regarding payments, you will find they will be very helpful.

There are several ways a home in pre foreclosure can be purchased. The homeowner is the legal owner of the property until the moment it is sold at auction.

  • Retail sale, with or without a realtor. This is reserved for a very good condition property, with reasonable cost, and in a seller’s market.
  • A sale, usually to an investor at a lower than normal market price, but enough to cover loan costs, and charges.
  • A sale that catches up the amount in arrears, and any other charges, to keep the home from being sold by auction, then get a new loan to cover the mortgaged amount.
  • A sale that involves catching up the arrears, then taking the property “subject to financing”. This is making the monthly payments on the loan until the home is re sold.
  • A sale to an investor when the property has little or no equity can also be done. The investor works with the bank in getting a “stay” or delay put on the auction, and negotiates with the bank on an amount that is lower than what is owed to be the full pay off. This is called a short sale.
  • Another way the home can be sold, is by selling the home to an investor for an agreed upon amount, then leasing back the home to the previous homeowner for a certain amount of time. Caution should be used with this method because there needs to be complete understanding by all parties, because the homeowner no longer owns the home, but continues to live there.

Any of the above methods will save the homeowner’s credit, from the credit score plunge of a foreclosure. The credit report may just show a few late payments, then a pay off, or continued on time payments after a few late payments.

CAUTION: Before buying any property, but especially a pre foreclosure do a thorough title check first. All liens stay with the property, and must be paid. This includes second mortgages, lines of credit, tax liens, workman’s liens and so on. Also, the title check will be to make sure there are no clouds on the title concerning clear ownership.

Not Sure What To Serve For Easter Dinner?

Make These Easter Treats Your Easter Feast!

Easter Day and the Easter recipes we choose to cook play an important role in our lives.

Easter is about life; it’s about springtime and welcoming back the flowers and birds; it’s about a warmer sun on our backs and a renewed faith in all the good we want and believe in for everyone. Easter is a day to be with family. Easter is about love.

Yes, some people will think about new suits and new dresses and as a time for chocolate bunnies, marshmallow chicks, and colored eggs. Certainly a number of children will. But for me, Easter is about being with family and friends and enjoying a great meal with them.

I recently saw a statistic that says, despite the fact that the better restaurants seem packed with people on Easter, only 35 per cent of Americans go out for their Easter meal. That means 65 per cent of us either stay at home and cook or we are the guests of relatives who are doing so.

I will be cooking and preparing Easter dinner at my house this year for the first time in 24 years! I finally have a fully trained, very competent staff at my restaurant. They will handle everything at the business, allowing me to cook for my family, relatives and friends. I consider this a great honor, not a burden. This is one of the things I do best, and I enjoy it!

One of the most interesting things about Easter is that it is somewhat of a “melting pot” holiday, with traditions from many cultures and religions. But there is no doubt about it, food plays a big part of celebrations in every culture.

Not sure what to serve for Easter dinner? The recipes on this page are traditional Easter recipes, or would make good components to an Easter dinner. But don’t stop your recipe search here on this page. This is only a sampling of what you will find on my website.

Ham is a traditional main course at this time of year, so I have included a wonderful ham recipe here, along with a secret restaurant appetizer recipe, a starch and vegetable to accompany the ham and a recipe for dessert - a fabulous Triple Chocolate And Vanilla Cheesecake.

But on my website I have many other Easter recipes from which to choose. Mix and match components of these menus or other recipes on the website to create your own perfect Easter dinner.

This Crab Artichoke Dip Appetizer is the all-time best selling appetizer at my restaurant, despite the fact that crab is expensive. The combination of ingredients is what drives the price but it is so good my restaurant guests buy it frequently. They have asked me for this crab recipe many times and, until now, it has always been one of my secret restaurant recipes.

  • Place green beans in a pot of boiling water and blanch them for 3-4 minutes (Some people add a bit of salt to the boiling water, but this is optional and there should be plenty of room in the pot but don’t use more water than you have to. If you are cooking more beans than you have room for, it’s okay to cook them in batches.)
  • Drain beans in a colander
  • Place your Dill Butter in a skillet or saute pan over medium-low heat to melt the butter
  • Put beans in the pan with the Dill Butter and heat thoroughly, making sure the beans are re-heated but not over-cooked

  • Should I Add Motion Sensors To My Home Security System?

So you may have a security system already.
Yes, you may have several of your doors & windows protected…
But what if you did not have ALL of your doors and windows wired for contacts?

You may be suprised that the majority of homes that have security systems are actually under protected. Thats right, due to finances, many people choose a security system that protects only 2-3 doors or windows?

    In fact…
In some areas where the older homes were not pre-wired for security beforehand, some people choose to simply protect their front and back door only.

What does that mean for you?

While it is true that some protection is better than no protection, it concerns me that a burglar may enter any window of the house and not trip the burglar alarm.
Now you can see why a motion sensor comes in handy.

    How A Motion Detector Works

Imagine a decvice that is approximately 3″ X 4″ that is strategically placed in a corner of your home so that the stairway that leads to your bedrooms is protected.

Now imagine an invisible beam that casts a web up to 40 ft long. Anything or anyone that crosses that invisible barrier will trigger a security alarm signal immediately notifying the authorities.

Different Kinds Of Motion Detectors Available

    1) The Standard Hardwired Motion Sensor: this motion sensor will be installed if your home has been pre-wired for security or you have basement access to run wires for it. If you have an inside pet this may not be the option for you as it will set off false alarms as it detects their movement.

    2) Pet Immune Motion Sensor: this motion sensor ignores pets that weigh under 60 lbs and will eliminate the false alarms caused by small dogs and cats.

3)Wireless Motion Sensor: You will use this when the home is not pre-wired for security & you do not have access for an alarm technician to run wires later on. Wireless motion detectors are available in both the standard & pet immune variety

4)Duel Tech Motion Sensors: This specialized motion detectorr not only works like the Pet immune sensor…It goes one step further.

It not only detects motion …it also requires detecting body heat before sounding an alarm. As you can imagine this is the best motion detector available. But it also is the most expensive. Sensors are available in both hardwired & wireless variety.

Thigh Exercises - Great Legs Take Work

The thigh is a collection of several distinct muscles and muscle groups, including the sartorius, adductor longus, abductor brevis, and gracilis muscles. All together these muscles facilitate every motion of the hip, from extension to abduction. Because of this, the thigh is one of the most essential portions of the body to human mobility, particularly walking, running, and jumping. Keeping the muscles strong and durable is important for anyone, not just bodybuilders or those looking to greatly define their musculature.

Because of the many muscles and their combined bulk and power, the thigh is one of the more powerful areas of the human anatomy. This enables a number of different thigh exercises, some of which are more useful than others. Listed below are three of the most time-tested thigh exercises, along with a description of the motions included and any equipment needed.

Leg Extensions: This exercise is done on a leg extension machine or on a weight bench with a leg extension attachment. Start by sitting at the machine with the back flat against the seat and the shins hooked behind the lifting pad. Using the thighs, lift the weight up by pressing against the pad until the legs are straight but not locked. Hold the position for a moment then gently lower the legs back to the starting position. This exercise requires either a leg extension machine or a weight bench with a leg extension attachment and sufficient free weight to do the exercise.

Squats: This exercise is usually done with a barbell, though dumbbells can be used as well, as can a squat machine. Begin by standing with the barbell resting behind the head on the shoulders. Keeping the back straight, slowly bend the legs until the knee forms a 90 degree angle with the floor. Pause then smoothly power back to standing position. Remember not to lock the legs at the top of the lift and not to dip too low, where injuries are likely to happen. The squat can be adapted by changing foot position and length between feet to target different portions of the hip, making the squat one of the most adaptable thigh exercises. The only equipment required are dumbbells or a barbell and sufficient weight, though a power rack is essential for the safety anyone performing squats without a spotter. A squat sled or leg press machine also provide similar workouts.
