These days when making a cold call it is important now more than ever before to make yourself different from the pack.. I called that customer and left the message that I had WordPerfect for $1. Sure enough that customer called me back within minutes. What I did was raise the price of each copy to $110 and told the customer that if he bought 10 copies he would get the 11 copy for only $1. My salespeople sold everything we had within days using the pitch I showed them.

The user is continuously challenged to figure out what has happened to this underwater ghost town in order to move the game along.

It has a dark and cryptic look to it that brings to mind the mines of Moria scene from the Lord Of The Rings where the Fellowship battled the Balrog in the abandoned dwarve empire under the Misty Mountains.

Bioshock is set primarily in a broken-down underwater complex that seems to be a relic from the World War II era. Players move through the game with a first person perspective as they battle mutant creatures that roam the halls and streets of this decaying city.

Nothing is quite clear to the user at first, such as what the complex was originally used for, and why it is being used again, but things become more apparent as they progress through the game. What is eventually apparent is that a utopian city was built and genetic experiments were performed in the 1940s, and then the complex fell into disrepair for reasons unknown. Sixty something years later the complex is revisited and we find out that it has been overrun by mutant genetic experiment creatures that have a taste for human flesh.

Ken Levine, the general manager of Irrational Games describes Bioshock as a convergence of technology and biological life in which genetic experiments are featured. It is by no means a sequel to System Shock 2, whose setting was a corporate-sponsored starship.

Bioshock has no story connection to System Shock 2 other than the fact that they are both horror-themed. The similarity is in the way the game is played as the player gets to decide what they see and interact with by the decisions they make during each step of the game.

According to Ken Levine, the interactivity level of this new game will be “unprecedented”. The player becomes immersed in the interactive environments and confronted with a series of player-driven choices. This creates a style of play the developers of the game call emergent gameplay.

Another impressive aspect of this game is the AI ecology which dynamically searches for opportunities to fulfill their purpose. The player can even manipulate the AI ecology to work in their favor, turning enemies and NPCs against each other.

Out of all the products that will be released in 2007 for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, or PSP games, Bioshock is sure to be one of the best. It is a hybrid first person shooter game that combines elements of science fiction and role playing genres with interactive environments and player-driven choices.

This is a challenging and engaging video game that allows you to literally be in the middle of the action and decide how the game plays out. This game is a step above all the other video games and PSP downloads. If you like your video games to be as creative as they are engaging, then Bioshock is one you will thoroughly enjoy.

So, you have your own web site. Fantastic! What was that? You use Dreamweaver? Superb! No? Not superb? Let me guess. You’ve building web page after web page and your site now consist of 50+ webpages with the numbers going up. And you’re pulling your hair out trying to keep all that content under control.

You can’t seem to find half of the things you’re looking for. You have no idea what pages you added last week because you’re busy trying to figure out why the code you added to a web page has broken the whole site. Trying to link to related web pages on your site is a nightmare. And re-organizing? Well … let’s not even touch that.

What is CMS?

Which CMS should you use?

Doing a search for a CMS will bring up thousands of results. Which system should you use? Unfortunately, this is not as easy a question to answer as it is to ask. A content management system is not for everyone. If you have a site with 4-5 brochure type web site with content that you update once in awhile, a CMS may be a bit of an overkill for you. On the hand, if you’re finding that your hair is starting to fall off trying to manage and keep your content publishing under control, it may be time you switch to a content management system.

Look about and you’ll see a regular website speaks usually about itself, or the entity it represents. All you get to see in regular websites are the entity’s abilities, features, testimonials, pricing, etc. In order to bring traffic, it may be relying on heavy spending on marketing, seeking link partners, building contents that are KW optimized, and so on.

But since search engines are partial to contents and visit sites often that offer fresh contents, a regular site that does not add to its contents every now and then shortly finds itself out of search engines’ favor. But then, not any content will suffice. It has to be relevant to the website and targeted to fetch returns to the site.

In sharp contrast with regular sites, blogs are like a whiff of fresh air in the stagnant world of web contents. Programs like Wordpress, TypePad or Blogger make adding contents so simple that not adding contents looks like a crime if you’re serious about your web entity.

What’s more, blogs are more interactive than static regular websites, let your viewers leave comments and be commented upon, and more often than not have a distinct out-of-the-box approach that makes them interesting to read.

Here are some reasons why in my opinion you should be blogging:

Writing prowess

Your blog is your world. There is no rule, and certainly no restriction as to how and why you should write. Love writing poetry .., you’re welcome. What about penning that stingy feeling when you saw the last movie! Write that by all means. Write anything, and if possible ‘everything’.

Blog, in other words, signifies freedom of expression. It’s a vast canvas on which you leave your own distinct mark, one that is reachable from any corner of globe. So, if you’re a writer, a blog will be like fish taking to water. But suppose you’re not. Why not make a beginning! Who knows what lies in store for you!

Search Engine Optimization

Qualifying from simply adding contents, it is relatively easy to write KW-rich contents as blog articles. Blog software like EasyBlogs allows you to add meta tags without a fuss, and if you can format blog-entry to fine-tune your optimization attempts, you’ll no longer need to bother about it for every post that you write.

Blogs automatically generate static pages either based on page title or a term chosen by you, which can be a KW-phrase. How is a blog different from regular website so far SEO is concerned? Not much that I can think of, but a blog surely has more flavors than regular website. And so ability to optimize pages is like icing on the cake.

Categorizing

It is very easy to label or categorize your articles in blogs. Categorization helps your visitors to select topics easily. It also helps you to track which topics are read most. Many blog software automatically lists and updates most-visited stories. Together these options make blogging that much more convenient vis-a-vis regular sites.

Socializing

Social media sites are a boon for blogs. Now your story can not only be ‘digged’, it can also be ’stumbled upon’, ‘netscaped’ or added to technorati and del.icio.us among others. True these can be made available for regular website contents, but that may turn out a real pain. Besides, what about allowing your viewers to comment on your articles!

As you can see, possibility for socializing is just too many, which also means you can get known quicker in the web-world. And pray tell me who doesn’t want a bit of fame in this hardnosed world!

Blog engines

When you post an entry, the rss feed of your blog is automatically updated to include the latest addition. In a further step, most blog software immediately announces the new post to the blog engines, making it possible for your post to appear in blog searches in less than a day.

Agreed the SE robots will make their rounds only later, yet compared to regular websites, this is a great advantage in favor of blogs.

Frequent entry

Since blogs make it easy to add contents, it is a catalyst in making your website content-heavy. If you can manage frequent entries, be assured that the robots too will come frequently to include your contents in their records. Most blog veterans write several stories daily, and have been doing this for years.
