A Financial Analysis of Eaton Corp

The industrial electric equipment industry is one without a lot of recognition. While there are a few large capitalization companies such as Rockwell Automation, ABB, and Nidec, only Eaton Corporation (ETN) seems to receive any type of coverage from news outlets. Nevertheless, I believe a lot of such coverage is warranted, as this company has the proper fundamental and strategic business plans to excel and contribute to capital gains for your portfolio.

Examining over the business plan of Eaton, according to Reuters, this company takes on a diversified information system structure, overlooking, “the design, manufacture, marketing and servicing of electrical systems and components for power quality, distribution and control; fluid power systems and services for industrial, mobile and aircraft equipment,” among others. In addition, with a variety of four segments the company has influence over, (Electrical, Fluid Power, Truck, and Automotive) Eaton takes a fairly defensive role in relation to the rest of the market. What this indicates is that during times of economic slowdown or economic prosperity, Eaton will not fluctuate too much in one direction. In fact, with a fairly low beta of about 1.6, Eaton, over the course of the previous 52 weeks, has grown relative to share prices almost 14.50%. Comparing this number to the S&P 500, which over the same time had grown about 6.50%, there is clear indication that this stock is not as volatile as some of its competitors.

The most important technical factor I see from this business strategy, however, is the near linear growth pattern of Eaton since it began to trade publicly in 1985. Referring back to only the previous 12 years, Eaton has only had one major correction in the first quarter of 1998 when it fell about 25%. Nevertheless, because Eaton has a large capitalization status of almost 12.2 billion dollars, second in the industry only to ABB, regardless of the scrutiny that may be placed on some of its fundamentals, this company has the historical evidence to suggest further share price growth. In addition, with its recent acquisitions over the past year, according to Reuters, of “Senyuan International Holdings Limited; the remaining 50% interest in Schreder-Hazemeyer; the diesel fuel processing technology and associated assets of Catalytica Energy Systems Inc.; the Ronningen-Petter business unit of Dover Resources, Inc.,” among others, the synergies that will evolve will only help continuing economies of scale to form, adding to more profitable margins which will only add optimism to current and potential shareholders.

While the business plan suggested is solid, a strong fundamental background is necessary for this company to adequately control its means of production. Looking at the top line, this company has seen revenue growth over the past year at a quarterly rate of 10%. While the number is about in line with industry competitors, its revenue per share, according to Capital IQ, of 82.36 annihilates Rockwell Automation’s 32.39, ABB’s 11.47, and Nidec’s 8.93. Moving towards the bottom line, relative to net income, last year’s quarterly earning’s growth of about 15%, while not as astonishingly high as the triple digit growth illustrated by Rockwell or as astonishingly low as the negative double digit decline illustrated by Nidec, does indicate stability where future guidance and expectations will not be to dramatically surprising for shareholders. In addition, with the future earnings growth expected, Eaton is looking for a forward P/E ratio of around 11 which is not only lower that is trailing multiple, but more than marginally lower than the industry’s number of 35.80 as well. In addition, comparing this number to ABB’s 15.33, Nidec’s 22.47, or Rockwell’s 14.37, whose forward multiple is higher than its trailing, there is some clear indication that Eaton is significantly undervalued compared to its industry competitors.

Looking at even more comparable multiples, Eaton’s price to sales, enterprise value to revenue, and enterprise value to EBITDA are, respectively, 0.97, 1.12, and 8.42. Comparing these numbers to Rockwell’s respective numbers of 1.76, 1.92, and 9.83, ABB’s respective numbers of 1.46, 1.46, and 11.85, and Nidec’s respective figures of 1.79, 1.81, and 12.01, there is even further evidence to stimulate the notion that Eaton, regardless of being nears its 52 week high, is still fairly undervalued. Furthermore, its PEG, with growth accounted for over the next five years, of 1.18 is near industry level for large caps, and again illustrates that there is still a lot of potential for growth for both this industry and corporation. However, while these numbers do look promising, there may be some skepticism regarding this company and its various returns. Eaton’s ROE of about 23%, while above the industry average, is still lagging a bit relative to competitors such as Rockwell and ABB. In addition, the ROI and return on assets of 11.95, and 8.43 are actually below the industry averages.

Now, while CEO Alexander Cutler and the companies 60,000 employees are performing at a solid rate, there may be a bit of potential for the company to set aside some more cash to capital spending to further potential growth and returns, as its five year capital spending rate of 4.6 is slightly below industry average as well. However, regardless, the company, speaking in terms of bare fundamentals is still to be said as a value, rather than growth, stock, and will perform quite nicely over the long term. To add to this, its balance sheet is quite strong with a below 0.5 LT debt to equity ratio and a current ratio of about 1.29. Overall, this company is a very reputable one and will continue to perform like an industry leader over the next couple of years with its strong fundamentals.

Therefore, while the 50 and 200 day SMA are a bit below the current share price, there still should be no reason, given the fundamental and business strategies, to be reluctant in purchasing shares of this stock. With a dividend payout of 2.10%, higher than all the aforementioned companies, coupled with a low short ratio, many investors are still quite bullish on Eaton and should be, given the both recent and historical evidence. Thus, while many of my recommendations deal with low large-cap or standard mid-cap equities, I see strong potential by placing some of your capital into Eaton.

One you have decided that you are going to be an affiliate you should design an affiliate campaign. As with any email campaign there are some points that you can’t be without. Your subject with be the very fist and sometimes only contact readers will have with you. Make sure that you choose a subject that grabs and HOLDS their attention. You need them to open that email!

Make sure that in the email you provide adequate information pertaining to what you are affiliated with. You don’t necessary have to express that you are only affliated with this just provide the information that the reader needs. Some of this may have to come from the person you are affiliated with. Make sure that adequate contact information is provided to the reader. Whether that is you or the affiliated person. Just make sure to place that information in the Email.

Keep your email short and simple. Provide adequate information to intrigue the reader and get them directed to the site you purchase the products. That is the ultimate goal. Throughout the email, use keywords, draw attention to certain points and place CLICK HERE or “Show me more” throughout the email. This will definetly get their attention. This way you never have to place the URL in the email.

Make sure you close the email in a professional manner and thank them for their time. They might not even get that far but make sure that it is there. Before sending out the email, request contact information from the person you are affiliated with. They should be able to provide you with contacts as well as a template email, if they don’t have one, make sure to show the email to them before sending it out. You should always get their approval.

I Always Do A Bad DIY Job

It always happens, and I know I am at fault. I can’t seem to help it and I know I drive my wife wild.

I used to drive her wild in positive ways in days gone by of course. I was young and free and no mind to household business.

Then I got engaged and then married - that is when things changed.

I don’t know if it is the “hunter-gatherer” in me or just bloody mindedness but I cannot but help doing little jobs around the house. A shelf here and there, some electrical refurbishment over in that corner and some much-needed plumbing in the bathroom.

And, as always happens, what starts off as a good intentions gets left on the back burner for months. If it is not the mess of all the tools and debris then it is the non-functionality of the object(s) I am trying to repair, install or erect.

The end point is usually either a rush job (better if visitors are in prospect) or calling in someone to complete the job I have started - the latter always costing more because of the extra work that needs to be done after my involvement.

There are always looks of incredulity and suspicion. Luckily, my son is of an age where I can pass off a botched job on him in the same way that a bad smell can always be blamed on the dog.

But I still cannot stop. The hunter-gatherer makes me want to be in control and fend for my and my family’s survival.

Cross-selling is similar to up-selling; however, it happens over a longer period of time.

Another word for cross-selling is “backend selling”. If you’ve ever heard of the term “backend,” then you already know about cross-selling. Usually cross-selling to your customer comes after you have established a relationship with them over a period of time and they have purchased one or several products from you already. To set up your cross-selling system you should start by developing a cross-selling list.

This will be a one-to-many list, which identifies all the products you carry that complement (or that someone would be interested in) one product. Once that list is done then you move on to the next product. Cross selling, up selling, and backend selling is one in the same and because of the internet has offered to opportunities for income.

Set a few net worth benchmark goals for your financial future. You might want to set yearly goals for the next five, ten and twenty years. Check your net worth often to see if you are meeting your goals.

What is your real estate lead generation system goal? In order to be successful as an investor you must have leads. Real estate leads are the lifeblood of a good investor. You can’t get deals without leads. How many leads are you generating a month or year? How many leads do you need in order to meat your net worth goals? Decide how many leads you need to close a certain amount of deals and set this number as your goal.

How many deals do you want to do each month? If you want to be a serious investor you must keep doing deals. If you haven’t completed a deal in several months then you might not be a real estate investor. Set your goal for the number of deals you want to do each year or month. By setting this goal it will keep you looking for deals and moving towards your financial net worth.

Set your continual education goal. How many books about real estate will you read this year? How many seminars will you attend? How many real estate investor meetings will you attend? Continuous education leads to continuous knowledge which leads to more ways to do deals. As an investor you need to keep adding tools to your tool box. You don’t want to keep doing only one type of deal. You must educate yourself so that you can meet your goals.

It was while Carlin was in the Air Force that he got his first taste of performing comedy. He appeared regularly as a disc jockey on a Shreveport radio station, and he began to write and perform comedy routines on the air. These popular performances led Carlin to local comedy clubs, where he soon gathered a loyal following. His time in Louisiana was the first time that George Carlin tickets created a high level of interest.

Carlin’s performances created a lot of interest, and he soon gained national notice and began to appear on nationally televised programs, including the Ed Sullivan Show. How To Read SMD Resistor Code

SMD stand for surface mount device and if you repair LCD monitors, you would come across lots of SMD components. CRT monitors rarely use SMD thus it is quite easy to find out the components value. In this article, I’m going to talks about SMD resistor code and how you could calculate the values. This SMD resistor codes is different from the normal resistor color code (color bands) you had seen in the electronic circuit boards. Surface mount resistors is very much smaller in size than the normal carbon film resistor and because of this the numbers and letters were stamped upon or printed on the top side of the component.

Those numbers and letters have a meaning and you could use that as information to find out or calculate the desire resistance values. Sometimes the resistors are designed in a very small size until we have difficulty to read the code. By using a magnifier glass we could easily read the resistor codes.

There are two types of surface mount resistors used in an electronic circuit board-the 3-digit and 4-digit code SMD. The first two digits represent the two digits in the answer. The third digit represents the number of zero’s you must place after the two digits. The answer will be in Ohms. For example: 104 which mean 10 0000 (4 zero’s) and the final answer is 100k. Let’s calculate the 4 digit SMD, 1182 which mean 118 00 (2 zero’s) and the final answer is 11.8k.

Measuring surface mount resistors is very easy with the help of digital multimeter. Most of the times when you check directly on the SMD resistors, you would get the right reading even without lifting a resistor lead. But not all digital multimeter can perform this kind of test. Select only the one that has the output voltage (measure at the probes) of less than 0.6 volts so that it won’t trigger any semiconductor devices that can give you a false reading. Once you know how to calculate the SMD resistor code and using the right way to test SMD resistors on board , you could check lots of SMD resistors in the shortest time.

My Visit to Lake Tahoe

It was just over a year ago when my wife surprised me with a trip to Lake Tahoe. She was watching TV one evening and the music group The Eagles was holding a concert on TV. She took a few minutes to look up where they would be playing and she noticed that they were opening a new tour in Lake Tahoe so she started doing some vacation planning.

The first thing that she did was to secure the tickets. Although they weren’t selling them publicly they did have several par of tickets available through EBay and she was able to pick up some great tickets in the 7th row. After that she found out that the concert was actually being given at Harvey’s which is a hotel that is right in Lake Tahoe. Now neither my wife or I gamble but we decided that since the rooms were right there within walking distance we would go ahead and stay, boy were we ever glad that we did. The rooms were clean and fantastic and the concert was a blast.

While we were in Lake Tahoe we did a lot of things that were very enjoyable. Besides taking a day trip to Yosemite we treated ourselves to a sailing ship evening on the lake as well as a sunset martini cruise. The highlight of the trip was when we parasailed over the lake. It was so quiet and peaceful up in the parasail that I didn’t even want to come down.

So the next time you get an idea that you would like to go away at the spur of the moment I say go for it. There are a lot of places that you could go and many things to see and sometimes it all gets lost in the planning. That is why I think that our trip to Lake Tahoe was so perfect, there weren’t any plans to mess things up for us.

Why This Concept Won’t Work:

This concept in the way I described above, although it sounds nice, is not practical. You will never be able to have your subscribers sign up 10 people for you.

So, then, how is this concept going to be enacted?

Create a contest or free promotion:

Unfortunately, I can only make this article so long before you get bored, so, I’ll give you the short version.

Here are the steps: (only 1 of the million ideas)

1. Start a “lottery” site or contest site where you give away a cash prize to the monthly winner

2. Tell the contestants that they will get one entry per every 5 people they get to sign up for the lottery.

3. All entrants will have a pre-checked opt-in for the newsletter. The only way they can win the prize is if they are signed up for the newsletter.

You can see how your subscribers will continually want to get more subscribers so they can get more tickets. It’s a win/win situation.

Summing it all Up

To some, this idea might seem crazy, trite, unoriginal, or even brilliant. I didn’t write this article for you to follow it step by step, but to get the creative juices in your brain flowing. Sometimes ideas like this will get you thinking along the right creative path.

Yelling at God, Dealing with Disappointment

I was reminded recently of a scene in the movie “The Apostle” wherein a lady is talking about his prayer life. She poignantly said, “Sometimes he prays. Sometimes he just yells.”

Have you ever yelled or had an intense conversation with God? Has God ever disappointed you? Have you ever felt like what God promised you was delaying and not happening as you expected?

While in Miami, I was working out at a hotel gym one night when I saw a scene from a sitcom on the TV. A teenage girl who anticipated going out on a date was suddenly asked by her father to stay home and babysit her younger brother. She was greatly upset saying, “I was supposed to go out tonight.” Her father replied, “Well, I was supposed to be a millionaire by the time I was 21 years old, but that’s not happening.”

Life seemingly and sadly comes with some illusions. Things that we expect are supposed to happen don’t always do, or at least not always within our timetable. Dealing with disappointment can certainly be a daunting and challenging task, particularly when it has to do with our relationship with our Creator.

Here are some things to remember.

1. Delay is not denial.

Everything God has promised, He shall fulfill. “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19)

2. You are not alone in your feelings toward God.

Many other men and women of God throughout history also struggled similarly with overcoming disappointment. David, a man after God’s own heart, often voiced his complaints throughout the Psalms. Many of the Psalms came about as a result of David pouring his heart out to God, complaining about his current struggles, and seeking God for insight.

David mentioned “the ungodly who prosper” was very “painful” for him (Psalm 73:12,16). However when David went to God’s house he gained understanding and realized the end of the wicked (v. 17).

Even Jesus on the cross felt forsaken by His heavenly Father when He uttered the words: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Psalm 22:1; Matthew 27:46; Mark 15:34).

The great apostle Paul said at one time in his life, “All men forsook me” (2 Timothy 4:16). Nevertheless the Lord stood with Paul and strengthened him (v. 17).

3. Disappointment should be a time to schedule a divine appointment to gain insight and personal inner strength.

As Paul was alone and disappointed, he drew closer to God who strengthened him. Likewise should we turn disappointment into a divine appointment. Seek God for insight, understanding, and strength.

Our God is a very present help in a time of trouble (Psalm 46:1).

4. Share your feelings with other strong believers who can encourage you in your faith.

“Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend” (Proverbs 27:17). We need each other for encouragement, counsel, comfort, and courage. A difficult time is not the time to discard your convictions and run.

We all have feelings, which we should validate. However we do not have to be governed by our feelings. Sharing your feelings does not mean you have to follow and act them out.

5. Pray for each other as you endure life’s struggles.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5:16).

6. Walk by faith not by sight.

Feelings fluctuate and change. God exhorts and encourages us to “walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Faith is a mighty force by which you can change your world. Therefore don’t succumb to circumstances, but speak to them and overcome them (Mark 11:23).

“And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions” (Hebrews 11:32-33).

7. Expect to see God’s glory revealed through your personal suffering.

“The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18).

Suffering is common to everyone - believer and unbeliever. However God empowers His children to be overcomers and conquerors.

“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us” (Romans 8:37).

How can we overcome unless we go through struggles and challenges? Therefore get a warrior’s mindset to be militant and go to battle against your present circumstances.

Decide to overcome rather than be overwhelmed. As you do, God will strengthen you for the battle at hand and teach you how to fight (Psalm 18).

“Only believe and you shall see the glory of God” (John 11:40).
