How to Create a Squeeze Page III

Asking for only their first name gives them the feeling of security that you don’t want to know who they are, but that you only want to send them information. Your button should simply say ‘Send me more information’. Alternatively make it even better and have a clickable phrase such as ‘YES! Show Me how to Cure my Slice!” or “Send Me your FREE REPORT on Ad Tracking!”

Ideally you should be able to present all you have to say without them having to scroll down. The secret of retaining interest and capturing an email address is to make the visitor do as little as possible. At best, to just press one key or make one click, but that is not always possible. Many, however, will have password security software that also fills in all their forms, and one click will literally give you their first name and email address.

Try to give your visitor the option only of filling the form for more information or leaving the page. Don’t put any Adsense on it or even a link to a sales page. You will confuse them and possibly lose what you want: their email address.

What you should do is test conversion rates with different ads. Change the ads and fonts. Try putting the clickable text in the normal blue, and try it in red. Compare results. If you do this, please only make one change at a time or you won’t know which the important one was. Some changes might be negative, but even negative results are useful.

Finally, just a few words if you are using Google. They have introduced some rules on squeeze pages in Adwords. It cannot be the only page on your website, there should be links on it leading to similar pages on your own and other sites (put them at the bottom in small type so that they are not noticed), and they should contain at least 200 words. It should not be too difficult, but otherwise just don’t use Adwords to advertise!

If you follow this advice on how to create a squeeze page, you should be able to quickly build a list that will provide you with sales for years to come.
