A researcher at Plymouth University in the South of England has concluded that the child obesity crisis in England has not been caused by a lack of exercise.

He also concludes that the current crisis in children’s health is caused by the type and amount of food we are feeding our kids.

If that’s right, it’s shocking to think that the fast meal you treat your kids to may be causing them long-term harm. In the UK nearly 15% of children are clinically obese. Not slightly overweight, but obese. That’s 5 or 6 children in the average classroom. And that’s for children under 10!

The evidence shows that physical activity seems to be controlled by a child’s genes. If a child does a lot of physical exercise at school they tend not to do much more when they get home. But a child who does no physical activity at school tended to do more in the evening when they got home.

Professor Wilkin suggests that there is no correlation between how much activity you do and your body mass index.

If that’s correct and it’s true for children, it must be true for adults too. So you may not be able to shift much weight just by exercise alone. A pretty bleak thought for anyone who’s wanting to lose some weight.

Just consider this statistic from the UK: Roughly £1.5 billion ($2.8 billion) is being spent on providing school sports fields. Just 0.07% was the funding sought by the research team. No funding has been offered.

So what would be a sensible way to ensure your child doesn’t get fat? Come to that, what would be a sensible way for adults?

Well, the Professor hasn’t advocated stopping activity. But he does put emphasis on diet, both quantity and quality. So a wholesome regime of fresh foods, fewer treats and yes, some activity, would seem to be a winner.

Since so little funding is available for research into this important area it seems we’ll all have to do our own research. Fortunately with the internet in so many homes at least the tools are there. You just have to use them.

Your next task is to write your resource box. This is critical to your article marketing campaign, and is where you offer your readers the opportunity to find out more about the topic of the article by visiting your website. You should present yourself as an expert on the topic, and persuade readers that they have a lot to learn by making the click to your website. Many directories allow a text link with html, and some do not. Unless you are submitting personally to directories one at a time stick to your URL rather than a text link.

However, if you are submitting directly to a directly that allows html in the author’s resource box, use a text anchor link that is linked to your site via an html < xmp > < a href > < xmp > tag. The text can be either your website name or a name that represents your niche or theme. This gives the search engines an indication of what your site is about and improves your listing.

It is also important that the link leads your readers to a page on your site that relates to the article. If you are writing about roses, don’t lead you readers to your web page on daffodils, or even to your home page. Lead them to your roses page or you will not create quality traffic. The same goes for the article. Write on a theme that is relevant to the content of a page on your website, rather than on something general that no single page specifically covers.

If you follow all that advice you will not only learn how to create traffic online with article marketing through readers clicking on the link to your website, but from those copying your article complete with resource box to their own website, and also from high search engine listings. It is all free traffic, and that is invaluable in internet marketing.

Foot Pain - How Effective Are Ready-Made Insoles?

One of the first things people do to try to alleviate their foot pain is buy ready made insoles or heel cups. Ready-made insoles or cups will not help cure your foot pain problem nor provide balanced arch support, contribute to gait correction, nor cushion your foot effectively.

If you have foot pain problems, start with comfortable shoes that have thick soles and rubber heels to relieve pressure. Then, if you still want to use a ready made insole, cut a round hole about the size of a quarter in it just above the painful area. This will offer support to the rest of the heel while relieving pressure on the painful spot itself.

When combined with exercises that stretch the arch and heel cord, over-the-counter insoles will bring you temporary relief until you can see a podiatrist. Most heel spurs do not cause pain. They often show up on x-rays as an incidental finding. If there is pain, it is more than likely caused where the plantar fascia is attached to the heel bone causing the pain. In any case, Heel Cups will help less than 50% of the people who buy them because the pain is the result of a plantar fascia problem in the first place.

Just remember that using ready made inserts, while appearing to bring pain relief, will more than likely cause your condition to become worse and may even accelerate your foot pain condition. Ready-made insoles once again will not provide balanced arch support, contribute to gait correction, nor cushion your foot effectively. We are limited to what we can do in our everyday life activities if our feet hurt. If we can’t stand, walk, or run with relative ease, our lifestyle will change dramatically and for the worst.

Stop for a minute and imagine what your life would be like if because of the pain, you could not stand erect, walk, and run. Reflect on this possibility in your mind and you will know what to do; pick up the phone and find a podiatrist who is trained to help you.

Ten Vacation Packing Tips

Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known in /wwwroot/gphone-android.com/wp-includes/class-snoopy.php on line 1142

The vacation packing tips that follow are based on experience - both good and bad. My wife and I have done enough things right, and enough wrong to have something to teach about travel. The last time we traveled together to Ecuador, we went with carry-on luggage only - a ten-pound pack each. This was one of the things we did right, and is tip number one.

1. Go light. It is simpler, especially if you are traveling by air and you can keep it to just carry-on. A few weeks ago we spent almost two hours waiting for a relative’s suitcase to show up on the Luggage carousel at Denver International Airport. At least it finally showed up, but if you can do just carry-on, you leave all problems of late or lost luggage behind, and travel more easily.

2. Have all you essentials in your carry-on bag. If your other luggage is lost, you should have what you need to stay clean and comfortable with you.

3. Budget a little extra and buy things as you go. Don’t carry 20 extra things for the five that you’ll end up using. You’ll find that this is more practical and relaxing than over-planning a vacation and over-weighting the luggage.

4. Valuables like jewelry are almost never covered by the luggage insurance the airline provides. Be sure to pack these items in your carry-on bag. We learned this one the hard way.

5. When packing shampoo, perfume, skin cream and other liquids, be careful. The cargo areas of planes are not pressurized fully, so the tops can pop off of bottles and other containers. To really be safe, pack such items in a sealed ziplock bag.

6. Don’t pack things too tight. Your luggage may be opened and inspected, and the security officials may not know how to fit it all back in.

7. Important documents, like passports and identification, should never be packed in your luggage. Carry them on your person, preferably in a hidden pocket or security pouch under your shirt.

8. Have a good packing routine. For example, start by making a list of items you’ll need based on every circumstance you may be in during your vacation. Then consider each item, and remove any that aren’t likely to be used - especially if they can be easily obtained at your destination.

9. Check the weather forecast for your vacation destination before packing. You might need a raincoat, or a down coat, or (even better) shorts or a swimsuit. It is easy to get a forecast online now for anywhere in the world.

10. Write these tips and others down, and keep the list handy for each time you take a vacation.

There are two main ways how to create traffic online using the search engines. These are by having a good listing in the search engine indices and by advertising on the PPC programs that some search engines offer. Let’s have a look at the first since that is the by far the best way to create traffic if you can achieve it.

The likelihood of you creating traffic by obtaining good listings on the search engines depends very much on both your ability to optimize your website for search engines and on the competition you have on the internet for the keywords in question. First a few words about keywords. These are the search terms used by the search engine customers when seeking information. For example, if a Google user enters ‘create traffic online’ into their browser to find information on that topic, Google will search its index for sites containing these words in the order given. It then looks for sites with part of the phrase, and so on.

If you enter that phrase in Google, you will find 41 million web pages found by Google for that keyword phrase. These are presented in the order that Google feels most relevant to the phrase and of most use to Google’s customer carrying out the search. In order to become visible in the top ten, your site will have to be optimized to Google’s requirements. Here are a few tips.

Each web page is listed separately by Google, so each of your pages should be optimized for one keyword or phrase. Use that in the title of the page and in the description for the page. The title should be in bold text and contained within H1 tags to indicate that these are the most important words on the page. The text should not be stuffed with the keywords: about twice every 300 words is fine. Even 1% keyword density can be considered too much these days.

The rest of your text should contain language that supports the keywords, and are semantically related to the theme. You must keep in mind how spiders approach your pages. They look for H1 headings first, and scan from the first column in the first table, down the column then on to the next. It pays most attention to the first 300 or 400 words of text, so if you have a left hand navigation table, as many do, the spider will crawl that first.

In order to ensure that your main text is crawled first, therefore, you must insert a blank table above the navigation table, so that the blank table will be crawled first, then the main text table, then the navigation table. In that way the text you want the search engines to crawl will be read early.

You can also improve your chances of being on the first page if you have a lot of one way links back to your web site. Submitting articles to directories can achieve this. It is probably the best way to get these links, and beats trying to negotiate them with individual websites.

If you follow the advice above, you will have a reasonable chance of creating traffic online for search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. However, there is another way to use search engines to get traffic, and that is through pay per click advertising programs. Google Adwords is possibly the best known, though Yahoo Search Marketing (formerly Overture) is also popular.

Your advert should be designed to get you highly targeted traffic, and you send it to the exact page that contains the product on offer, or at least a review of that product. The landing page should also contain an opt-in form, so that you can get the visitor’s email address in exchange for a free gift of some sort. Usual gifts are ebooks, software, courses, and newsletters ore-zines.

In doing this you can increase your traffic potential by building an opt-in list. Such a list is very valuable in internet marketing. You also, of course, get the traffic from the advert itself, and the beauty of PPC advertising is that you only pay when somebody visits your website, so every cent you pay gets you visitors.

These are the two ways how to create traffic online using the search engines. There is something to be said for both, and while PPC advertising is the easier of the two, optimizing your site to get high listings and organic traffic is both cheaper and more rewarding. It also has the greater potential for large volumes of traffic.

Yahoo News and Google news has opened up the use of press releases to the ordinary internet marketer. Anybody who wants to know how to create traffic online using press releases has only to check out these sites to see the potential that they have. It is estimated that half of all internet users use an online news site in any given month. That’s an awesome number of people and you can tap that potential.

What you must do first is to plan your press release. It must be on something interesting and focused on a specific topic. Don’t be too general if you want to catch the eye, and make your most important point right at the start. Make them stay with you and click for more if necessary.

Don’t just state facts, but give your reader an opportunity to take action. A podcast, a free offer, a trial, the offer of a white paper often works. Even offer a consultation, but make them click through. Send them to a landing page that calls them to further action. Don’t try to make a sale, but get them to click for a video presentation or a podcast, or even a video podcast. The purpose of the landing page is to lead your visitor along a route that ends with your desired final result: a purchase or a signature; anything that helps your marketing program.

Make your news easy to read, and provide a summary of it in an interesting way that encourages people to want to read more. Once you are happy that your press release is complete, easy to understand and grabs attention like any newsflash should, then publish it.

To speed up the publishing processing you could use a news wire service such as PR Newswire: there are plenty on the internet. Use your browser to find some and get their prices. If you want free publication approach individual newspaper or newsgroups. You could submit the source to Google News and your press release will have a chance of being published there. The more individual media contacts you can submit to the better.

Also submit your press release to blogs that are relevant to the topic of the release, and to any relevant social bookmarking sites. Record a podcast of the release and distribute through RSS syndication. It could be picked up by an interested news agency who may contact you. Check out your local press and send it there. Even if your press release is not deemed suitable by the national press or wire services, your local press might be willing to publish it.

This could be a county publication or even one based in your home town. Have you considered the themed press and magazines? Magazines are frequently a good contact for press releases on niche topics, and many newspapers have health and science sections, for example, where your press release might be more appropriate. Approach the sub-editors of these specific niche sections separately. They frequently have autonomy for the publications in their own news sections.

Whatever the steps you take to publish, keep tracking your sources. Check out what traffic your landing pages receive from each, and this will be a guide for your strategy next time. If you don’t know what publications are providing you with most traffic, you will find it difficult to optimize.

If you want to take advantage of every advertising opportunity open to you, you must learn how to create traffic online using press releases. It has massive potential to those who are able to use this medium properly and could open up a whole new untapped reservoir of traffic to your website.

Internet Business Tip - Triple Your Newsletter Subscribers in Two Easy Steps

The more newsletter subscribers you have, the more your business will grow. You know that already. So, if you know this, why are you not spending the majority of your time growing your list? This article will show you an incredible way of tripling the size of your subscribers, just by doing two simple things.

Numbers, numbers, numbers.

What better form of advertising is there than a newsletter list? None. Your list contains a multitude of people who want information from you, who trust you, and who tell all their friends about you.

True? Yes! All except for that last part.

Ask and you shall receive.

Are your subscribers telling their friends and co-workers about your newsletter? Do you know if they are? Chances are, they’re not.

How can we change all that? Easy! Ask them to ask their associates.

Simple Step #1

The first way to increase the numbers on your list is to offer a free “really expensive” gift to everybody who recommends your newsletter to two of their associates. All the subscribers need to do is email you the names and emails of two people who are ready and willing to sign up for your newsletter. Once those names and emails are subscribed they receive their free gift.

Simple Step #2

At the end of each newsletter tell your subscribers to FWD the email to as many associates as possible. In the FWD, write “This is a great newsletter. If you read it and forward it to editor @ yournewsletter. com, we will get special access to a password protected area of the website”. Of course, the only way the subscribers can enter the password protected area is to become a member. To be a member, you have to be signed up for the newsletter.

Bonus Step - A one time only page

After the person signs up for your newsletter, you should have the result page be a one time only offer page. On that page, write, if you recommend 3 people right now for the newsletter (have a form for this), you’ll get this really expensive product for free.. Or some offer similar. Remind them that the offer is only a one time deal.

I hope some of these ideas help you.
