If you follow the advice above, you will have a reasonable chance of creating traffic online for search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. However, there is another way to use search engines to get traffic, and that is through pay per click advertising programs. Google Adwords is possibly the best known, though Yahoo Search Marketing (formerly Overture) is also popular.
Your advert should be designed to get you highly targeted traffic, and you send it to the exact page that contains the product on offer, or at least a review of that product. The landing page should also contain an opt-in form, so that you can get the visitor’s email address in exchange for a free gift of some sort. Usual gifts are ebooks, software, courses, and newsletters ore-zines.
In doing this you can increase your traffic potential by building an opt-in list. Such a list is very valuable in internet marketing. You also, of course, get the traffic from the advert itself, and the beauty of PPC advertising is that you only pay when somebody visits your website, so every cent you pay gets you visitors.
These are the two ways how to create traffic online using the search engines. There is something to be said for both, and while PPC advertising is the easier of the two, optimizing your site to get high listings and organic traffic is both cheaper and more rewarding. It also has the greater potential for large volumes of traffic.
