Sharing an apartment with roommates can be a fun experience. This experience can turn bad

The best way to handle these situations is to politely communicate your feelings to your roommates.
There is no point in keeping everything inside. When you keep things inside, it’s not good and can
be detrimental to your health and overall well being. You will lose focus of more important things like school and work. Take the initiative and be pro-active about it. Speak to the roommates in your apartment and communicate your feelings. Ask them how they feel about it and attempt to resolve the problem. In the end, you will feel much better about the situation. Your roommates will acknowledge your concern and should take it into consideration. If the problem should repeat itself the next time around, bring it to the attention of the individual again. Since it’s the second time around, the individual should feel a little bit of guilt (if they are considerate people) and work harder to rectify the problem.

From the beginning of the Iraqi war I have tried to inform the American Citizens of the best way to support our military troops. From the beginning I have stated that the best way American Citizens could support our troops would be by making sure their benefit was returned to them and their families. On talk radio all I was hearing from the host were “Is it possible to support our troops and not support the Iraq war?” Well for you talk show host I guess on March 5th of 2007 if you watched C-SPAN you found out that you and all your pro war American Citizens were not supporting our troops after all. Our troops’ loss of benefits may be news to you pro war American Citizens, but it is not news to us anti war American Citizens. We the anti war American Citizens, have been focused on the troops benefits from the beginning of the Iraqi war. If you pro war Americans were focused on the benefits of the troops more than focusing on the Iraqi regime change; then you would have taken a walk through our Veterans Hospitals, you would have went to the homeless shelters and spoken to the Veterans, you would have walked down the streets of America and helped the homeless Veterans receive their benefits. However, that is not what pro war Americans do. (1 Timothy 5-v-8)

Today March 6, 2007 on C-SPAN I heard a lot of elected representatives speaking on the floor of the House. I will speak about only two. Representative Dennis Kucinich (D) of Ohio 10th District. He spoke about his bill HR-1234. This bill according to him will start the process of our troops exiting Iraq. However, Representative John Boehner Republican of Ohio 8th District, who is the Minority Leader, is against bill HR-1234. I suggest everybody look into his legislation for yourself. Then decide if you are a pro war American Citizen or an anti war American Citizens. You cannot be both. It was an American lie that started the Iraqi war and it will be the American truth that gets America out of Iraq. (1 Timothy 6-v-4,7).

The following is an article by Matthew Schofield who stated: according to Moscow news many agree that Iraq is to the United States what Afghanistan was to the Soviet Union. “Eighteen years after the Soviet army pulled out of Afghanistan in a humiliating defeat that hastened the collapse of an empire many soldiers, who fought there, believe they are seeing history repeat itself.” This article supports Mrs. Fox perspective; when it comes to why our troops should not be fighting in Iraq. Michael Schofield of McClatchy Newspaper wrote the following article that I will try to share and quote. I read it in the Idaho Statesman newspaper dated February 18, 2007. His article shows the parallels of the American Iraq war compared to the Russian Afghanistan war. I will begin by quoting him quoting Retired Capt. Valadimir Vshivtsev: “They’re fighting the same war again. Sure, the political stuff is different but, the military result is going to be the same failure.

The political reasons for the two invasions were as different as the governments that launched them. The United States went to war in Iraq ostensibly to disarm a dictator of suspected weapon of mass destruction then set its goal as establishing democracy. Leonid Brezhney’s Soviet Union mounted its invasion in 1979 ostensibly to save communism in a place where it had never taken root. But Russian soldiers, officers and experts pointed to many parallels. The Soviets also arrived to flowers and smiles, fought with a similar-sized forced (by the mid 1980s) of about 120,000 men and lost about 1,300 to death each year. They arrived a superpower full of hubris, and departed humbled. The Soviet invasion also resonates today because of its unintended consequences. The United States and Saudi Arabia funded the Afghan resistance as means to curb Soviet expansionism, and volunteer fighters flocked to the scene from around the Islamic world. One volunteer, Osama Bin Laden, stayed to found Al Qaida and declared his own jihad; this time against the United States and Saudi Arabia.”

For the Soviets, Afghanistan was a total disaster. It remained a dirty secret for over a decade and still isn’t mentioned in polite conversation. Alexander Konovalov, head of the Institute of Strategic Assessments, a Moscow-based military research center said “The Soviets were trying to spread Socialism, the United States Democracy. But both arrived in losing situations, facing popular uprisings that grew with support from the Muslim world. And both confronted people used to fighting foreign occupiers.” Afghanistan had never been conquered and Iraq was an unnatural state; a remnant of colonial England. For former Soviet soldiers Konovalov said, “Most agree that Iraq is to the United States what Afghanistan was to the Soviet Union.”

Retired General Victor Yermakov headed the Soviet 40th army’s efforts around Tora Bora in Eastern Afghanistan in the mid-1980s stated; He can’t decide whether to shake his head or scream when he hears talk about how to improve the situation in Iraq and how to control Afghanistan. “All the future holds for American forces there are dead soldiers, and they will die for nothing, he said. There is nothing positive to be accomplished in Iraq.” My advice is simple: “Leave Leave Now.” He cited the U.S. offensives in Tora Bora as an example. His final words was “I was very impressed by the Americans gaining he said, gaining control of Tora Bora is a great accomplishment. I should know. I did it three times.” He shook his head ruefully, then added: “Unfortunately, the second I turned my back on the place, I needed to conquer it again. It is the same now. It will never change.” End of quote!!! (Luke 14-v-28,32) Again this article was written by Matthew Schofield of McClatchy Newspapers picked up by the Idaho Statesman newspaper; shared by Mrs. Fox.

So to you pro war American Citizens it is just a matter of time before you all will know what we, the anti war American Citizens, have known from the beginning; that our troops are dying in vain. Toronto ON- One can not help but wonder why the trade publishing company lead by Tilly Rivers is behind closed doors with a production company that has been recently put up for sale.

It seems that the authors in whom have signed the dotted line with may have hit a gold mind, as it was leaked that RPI plans to buy a production company and turn there key titles into films and tv series from animation of the children’s books to the edge of the seat fiction tales.

Ms. Rivers said she had no comment. Will the dreams of authors be more than a printed book? Will the possibly richest woman in Ontario and now self made CEO be running yet another business under the RPI umbrella of successes?

After calling several times to get a comment from Ms. Rivers she has refused calls. The sexy erotica writer turned publisher has proved that she is more than a short skirt. Just recently released Louis Jannetta’s novel “King of the Maitre’d’s” at the Fairmont Royal York and the place was wall to wall media and who’s-who in Toronto.

A captured quote at the event from Tilly states that she is happy for Louis and all the authors, she encourages and supports great prose. I have to wonder-I have to ask, does anyone REALLY know who this woman is and how much she is worth? They seem to treat her as a tiny blonde that has fallen into a pool of good luck.

When you decide to breed your Betta Fish, the first step is to make sure you are ready. It will take time, money, space for around fifty jars to separate males, a secure pond with no other fish and a good level of experience caring for Bettas already.

Presuming the answer is yes; the next step is to obtain a female. This can be difficult, as few stores sell them. Once you have both, don’t leave them in the same tank. Start with cheap Bettas, to avoid wasting lots of money. Later on, after you become an expert, you can try to breed your own masterpieces. Look for fish with some energy to increase the chances of spawning. The chosen fish should be between seven and eighteen months old, and a spare pair just in case is also a wise precaution.

Prepare the mating tank, ten gallons is about right. Don’t add much decorations or gravel, but some large leafed plants will help the female hide from the male. The temperature should be around eighty degrees and the depth about six inches until the fry, or baby fish, begin swimming. Normally, you wouldn’t worry about air filtration with Bettas, but the fry will require it. However, they cannot handle a powerful filter. The old-fashioned box type, powered by an air pump is best, and the carbon filter that came with the pump is not acceptable. Instead, use floss or sponges. This is to avoid bad reactions between the carbon and an anti-fungal treatment. It is wise to let the pump operate through a complete cycle before fish are exposed to it to allow bacteria to grow.

Begin feeding the fish high quality food. One breeder recommends the following sequence: BettaMin, Freeze Dried Blood Worms, some live or frozen brine shrimp, then a few live Black Worms. Others swear by tubifex worms and other combinations. Do not overfeed, as this will still force you to clean the tank and replace the water more often. Change twenty percent of the water in each tank each day to help prevent this and encourage the fish to get ready to breed. The male should be in the breeding tank, and should be able to see the female in her tank. He should begin to build a bubble nest.

With the high quality food, the female should begin to plump up as eggs are produced. With lighter colored breeds you can sometimes see the eggs, and the fish should produce horizontal stripes when ready. If that isn’t showing, look near the anal fin for a white gravid tube. If this is showing, she is ready.

Now comes the key moment. Plan for at least an hour when you can be present to supervise. Put the female in the water with the male. There can be some rough treatment, including some mutual fin nipping or even worse behavior. If it gets too rough, remove the female and plan to wait a few days to let her recover, but if you don’t give them a chance, there won’t ever be any fry. If all goes well, they will conduct what is called an embrace, and she will produce eggs under the bubble nest. He will fertilize them and begin to care for the eggs. The female should be removed now, lest she become fish food.

For the next two days, the male will keep the eggs cleaned and in the bubble nest, recovering any that fall. Then come the fry. For about thirty-six hours, they’ll be unable to move out of the tank. Around two days after hatching, the first fry will begin to swim without help. At this point, remove the male fish lest the fry become fish food. A day after the fry hatch, they need their first feeding, and baby brine shrimp, daphnia, microworms, or liquid fry food for egg layers are good choices. They’ll need feeding up to five times a day.

Now comes the hard part. Many experienced breeders say this can only be done in a suitable pond. The temperature must be above at least 68 and preferably 70 degrees. There must be no fish to eat the fry, and a variety of tiny aquatic creatures to eat.

After about ten days, they can take a little powdered food. This is a small amount of very finely crushed flake food. They should be about a quarter of an inch long. At about four weeks, they should be around a half inch long, and should begin to show sexual dimorphism, so you can tell the males from the females. Separate the males from each other before fighting begins.

Betta Fish, also known as Betta Splendens, Beta Fish and Siamese Fighting Fish, are inexpensive pets and can be quite lovely. Technically, the Betta name refers to about fifty species, but is commonly used as if only Betta splendens is meant. The biggest are normally only around three inches long. Even though there are many stories of the fish surviving in very small containers, experts do recommend a three-gallon tank for best results and there is some controversy about how small a tank is really still acceptable. Betta Fish are native to low oxygen waters, and don’t normally need any aeration. They are tropical fish, and are best kept warm, however. Some owners do claim that their Bettas act happier with an air filtration system even if the fish don’t need it to survive. Bettas normally live two to three years, but in well cared for conditions, some have lived as long as ten.

Betta Fish are native to Thailand and Cambodia. The common name comes from the name of Siam, which is now Thailand, and the territorial battles the males conduct. Like many members of the animal kingdom, the males are the gaudier looking, to better attract females. The females tend to appear rather dull, and almost all Betta Fish sold are males for that reason. In the wild, they are dull greens and browns, but breeders have produced far more stunning color schemes.

Some believe that Bettas cannot be kept with other fish. This is not true. Multiple male Bettas is a precondition for battle. Bettas with other fish around will still display and flare their fins, but won’t see this as a mortal insult. They should not be kept in a tank with fish that are aggressive or that nip fins, and only one male should be present. Female Bettas can usually play well with others, and there are cages to be used to separate male Bettas if they are kept in the same tank. These should prevent the fish from seeing each other.

Betta Fish can handle a surprising range of water conditions, but the water should be changed once a week or so, more often if the fish is kept in a small container. They can be fed once a day, or twice if you desire, and aren’t especially fussy about their food. There is specially formulated Betta food on the market. In the wild, Bettas eat live food, insects and their larvae, and like it in fish tanks, but they will eat flakes and frozen food as well. Do not overfeed as this will require cleaning the tank more often. When changing the water, remember to let the water sit for a day before using it in the tank with the fish to allow the chlorine to evaporate. Good choices for Betta food are brine shrimp, Daphnia, plankton, tubifex, glassworms, and beef heart, and may be used frozen or freeze dried. Flakes should be supplemented with other foods from the list.

Many note the odd bubble structures that male Betta Fish build in the water tank. This is perfectly normal. The male is building a nest in which to place eggs, once he successfully impresses a female.

Bettas prefer a pH between 6.8 and 7.4 and a hardness less than 20 dGH. The temperature should be between 75 and 86 degrees, or twenty-four to thirty for those who prefer Celsius. In the wild, they live in rice paddies, ponds and slow moving streams, and are most comfortable near the surface. One of the main arguments about the minimum size for the fish’s tank is heat. Below 75 degrees, the fish are increasingly listless and it is much easier to keep a larger tank at a stable temperature. Bettas also require access to the surface, and will drown without it. There is a special organ, the labyrinth organ, allowing and requiring them to take oxygen from the air. Because they live in still waters, power filters and power heads are not suitable.

Betta Fish are known for their lovely colors and fins, with a wide range of colors available. Blue to red with white are normal, and more spectacular colors like yellow and orange exist.

Metal poisoning easily kills betta fish, and exposed metal should not be used in decorations within the tank. Decorations are important as they allow the fish places to hide, and a layer of gravel helps to provide surface area to grow nitrifying bacteria. Decorations must be smooth and lack sharp points that can tear fins. Silk is preferred to plastic for artificial plants for this reason.

If it just bugs you, find a way to deal with it. Now, if you like them, but they just can’t do the job, you have to have the guts and ego to admit it. Guts because it’s hard to dismiss someone you like. Ego because it’s hard to admit you can’t make it work. Trying to force someone to develop abilities they don’t have or don’t want to possess hurts and stresses everyone. In the long run you can diminish the employee’s self-esteem even though you thought you were trying to improve them. Accept them as they are even if that means accepting that they have to go. When you try to change someone who can’t change you may start to resent them and find yourself developing a dislike of them and letting them feel that. If the job is getting done, it’s OK if they do it differently than you would. If it’s not, make a correction and be done with it. Then move on. The pursuit of excellence is good, but not if it leads to judging others. You can’t force anyone else to pursue excellence, nor can you define it for them. You can only do that as it applies to your behavior and performance. It would be irrational to believe otherwise. Learn to exist together and just live.
