WordPress - A Complete Content Management System

A Blog script can not only be used to post your opinions but it can be used as a content management system for your entire website. One such script is WordPress.

A detailed overview of what WordPress is capable of is as follows:

1. Customized Template
You can completely customize the look of your website by using your own custom template. You will however, need to know XHTML, CSS and some PHP in order to do this. It is recommended that you hire a professional web designer who specializes in custom blog templates. Once your template is set up, you can update your website yourself.

2.-Pages
You can add pages to WordPress. That is pages like About us, Contact, etc. The content is added via an easy to use interface. It is easy to setup headings and bulleted lists by just clicking on already set buttons which generate the code for you.

Example:

  • Select your Text
  • Click on Heading
  • Your selected text will now be displayed as a heading (how this heading will be displayed will be set up in your CSS file by your web designer).

3.-Categories
If you want to set up a category based blog, you can add unlimited sub levels. However, the recommended level is one level deep and at max two levels deep. Therefore your categories can be:

Articles (main category)
Web Design (sub category - one level deep)
—-XHTML (sub sub category - two levels deep)

4.-Archives
You can also choose not to add any categories. In this case, the default category (Uncategorized) will be used. You can then show the posts based on a time line. They can be archived according to the day, months or years.
Example (monthly)

  • December, 2005
  • January, 2006
  • February, 2006
  • And so on…

5.-Posts
This is what your blog is really about. The content! These can be articles, opinions, reviews, etc. Posts like pages are also added via an easy to use interface. They are then dynamically shown in your template design. Posts can be assigned to categories or as explained in ‘Archives’ above.

6.-Comments
Interactivity is key to a Blog. You can turn comments on, off and on moderation. The latter is recommended.

7.-Trackbacks
Trackbacks are like comments, except they are posted at the site of the person making the comment. Generally these are longer articles related to your post. A snippet/teaser will be displayed in your comments with a link to the full article.

8.-Links
You can use the inbuilt Link Manager to exchange links with other blogs and websites as well as add useful resources.

9.-Search Function
What use is a blog you cannot search thru? WordPress has a built in search function which searches thru posts.

10.-RSS Feed
Feeds are read by programs called ‘FeedReaders’. You just need to add the feed URL for a blog to your FeedReader which then checks that blog for updated content. As soon as a blog has a new article, it is downloaded and displayed by the Feedreader. This way you do not have to visit all your blog websites to check up on new content.

WordPress has its own RSS Feed option. You can add RSS feed for your entire website as well as for individual articles for their updated comments.

11.-Plugins
These are tools which enhance the functionality of WordPress. There are lots of third party plugins available, each with their own function. Some of these are follows:

  • Adsense Plugin: Easily add and save various Google Adsense codes. You can save different codes for the various sizes available. To add them to your posts/pages you just need to pick which one you want to add from a drop down.
  • Add Meta Tags: Add custom keywords and description to your posts and pages. Set defaults for each as well.
  • External Links: Automatically open external links in a new window.
  • Page Navigation: Use page numbers instead of the default WordPress navigation which uses Next/Previous Links.
  • Search: Search through the entire website instead of just posts.
  • Smart Update Pinger: WordPress automatically announces your website to Ping-o-matic every time you publish a post. This plugin makes sure that is done only when the article is first published and not every time it is edited.
  • Backup: Make a back up of your database from within WordPress admin. This is a default WordPress plugin and comes with the installation.
  • No of Posts/Page: By default you can set only one number and that holds true for your categories as well as search results. This plugin lets you set a different number of posts per page for each of these.
  • Polls: You can add polls to your blog.
  • Stats: Different plugins that show the number of post views and the current online users.

As you can see, WordPress offers lots of features that can not only help you put up a blog and interact with your visitors, but it also lets you manage your complete website yourself.

Why Use Registry Cleaners?

Over time your system will become slow and sluggish. This may be because of all your activity on the Internet. You will have through the years or months depending on your Internet activity, downloaded tons of stuff from the Internet. Most of the stuff you download you will forget about. These downloads, be it music, programs, pictures, or links will all be stored in the system registry and this registry keeps on growing. You will need to clean the registry of your system in order to make your system run more efficiently. A registry cleaner can repair and clean your registry on the computer. A free registry cleaner, such as the windows XP registry cleaner or the Eusing Registry cleaner can organize and streamline your computer registry by unclogging all the junk that has been downloaded onto the hard drives and are no longer of any use but are there and slowing down the system.

Regular registry cleaning and tuning is very necessary. Without this the system is definitely going to crash attracting a very high bill from the technician not to mention the data that could be lost in the bargain. You can take the cheaper way out by downloading one of the free registry cleaner software from the Internet. There are loads of windows XP registry cleaner software or just registry cleaner software that are compatible with whatever operating system you are using.

Analyze The Registry Cleaner Before Using It

A good registry repair software will have the following features:

Registry cleaners scan all types of problems such as invalid paths, file types, CLSID’s DLL’s Sound files, Fonts, extensions and class keys. The registry cleaner will have these features in a place where they are easy to access and well organized. The registry Cleaner will be easy to use. It should be user-friendly software and not require complicated steps to setup and use.

In addition the registry cleaner software that you download free or purchase, should have very good customer support. Many downloadable registry cleaner software can create backups of the registry. So if something goes wrong during the cleaning process it is important that you can restore the registry to its original state. Restoring the registry may not be as simple as cleaning up the registry with the help of the software and so it is important for the company that supplied you with the registry cleaner software to have a customer support to help you restore your registry to a working state.

Safety Is Paramount

Safety is also a prime concern while deciding which registry cleaner to download or purchase. Some good registry cleaner or repair software can help you get the computer back to running condition with the documentation and online tools. So, even though there are risks involved in cleaning up the registry, the rewards of having a fine tuned and cleaned registry are many.

What Is Type Library And How Is It Related To The Registry?

A type library can be thought of as a binary version of an IDL (interface Definition Language) file. Visual basic creates a type library when you create a VB server object, thus eliminating the need for an IDL file. A C-like language used to define interfaces and co-classes for COM. Ole View is a COM utility that reverse-engineers a type library into a readable form of IDL. IDL is used to provide language-independence for COM interfaces so that identical interfaces defined in VB, C++, and Java look the same in IDL even though they look different in the language used for implementation.

Other Types of Type Library

There is also the type library in the system that is used to display the type or font on the screen and printed document. This type or font library is located in the systems registry. Every time a program calls upon the type library top to display the font, the type library looks up the registry to locate the type that has to be displayed. If the type is not present in the library the page displays the default of the closest matching font for that type.

So What Is The System Registry?

The operating system must have the knowledge as to where to find certain files when the programs call on them for some function. This information was initially stored in the information folder denoted as INF in earlier versions of Windows primarily 95 and 98 first edition. Microsoft introduced the registry in windows 98 Second Edition to speed things up while loading and locating programs. But this can also slow the system down drastically. This Registry is a database used to store settings and options for the 32 bit versions of Microsoft Windows including Windows ME and NT/2000. The Registry contains information and settings for all the hardware, software, users, and preferences of the PC. This registry is constantly growing and updating itself. There will come a time when it will need to be cleaned. This can be done with one of the free XP registry cleaner. if you are using XP or any other Microsoft free registry cleaner.

The physical files that make up the registry are stored differently depending on your version of Windows; under Windows 95 & 98 it is contained in two hidden files in your Windows directory, called USER.DAT and SYSTEM.DAT, for Windows Me there is an additional CLASSES.DAT file, while under Windows NT/2000 the files are contained separately in the SystemRootSystem32Config directory. You cannot edit these files directly, you must use a tool commonly known as a registry cleaner to make any changes in the Registry. It is in fact, advisable never to fool around with the Registry unless you have a trusted registry windows cleaner such as the PC registry cleaner or the Eusing free Registry cleaner which are available on many download sites free.

What Is File Association And Its Relation With The Registry?

Windows uses a system called ‘file association’ to open a file with the correct program that the file was created in. If a file has an extension .doc then windows knows that the file is a word document and uses file association to open the file in the Microsoft Word application. Or if the file has a .bmp extension then file association will open the file in Microsoft Paint by default.

All these associations are retained in the registry of the system and there will be many times that files are downloaded from the internet and they come with their own third party program to run them. Once we are done with the files we delete the files but the programs remain in the system. The list of such programs builds up over time and we need a windows registry cleaner to clean the registry of these redundant files and programs.

A file extension is a set of alphabetical characters, sometimes these are alphanumeric, and these are placed at the end of the file name after a period. These extensions are also attached to the various software on the system such as .exe, which means the file is an executable program. These extensions are used to determine the type of data stored in them as well as to distinguish the type of program. This information is recorded in the registry and needs to be cleaned with a windows registry cleaner regularly.

The registry gets crammed with useless programs and files. These files and redundant data and information do nothing other than slow down the system. It is important to clean the registry of these files and programs or entries as they are called. There are many registry cleaners on the Internet that can do a good job of cleaning the registry. Typing in a set of keywords such as ‘A must registry cleaner’, ‘free registry cleaner software’, ‘free XP registry cleaner’ in a search engine will produce results that can lead you to the appropriate registry cleaner software you are looking for.

Windows and computer operating systems have used Filename extensions for decades, but they have become popular because the file systems included with DOS and Windows had limitations on filenames for many years, which pushed the use of filename extensions.

It will help to download one of these free registry cleaner software for your system and run it on your computer from time to time. This will keep your computer running well and get rid of the sluggishness of the system. In fact, if you find that your system is running slower than usual it is time to download a registry cleaner and utilize it on your system and get the PC back on track.

Common ingredients - Common problems - Propylene Glycol

Propylene Glycol is an extremely common ingredient with no therapeutic benefits, in fact there are some very real concerns associated with it. The only reason this product is added to cosmetic products is because it makes the skin feel smooth.

  • Propylene Glycol is known to accumulate in the heart, kidneys & liver. This can cause abnormalities and may weaken the immune system.
  • Propylene Glycol can be readily absorbed through the skin & scalp.
  • Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) warn users to avoid contact with skin.
  • Studies have shown that Propylene Glycol is capable of producing primary irritant skin reactions and allergic sensitisation such as contact dermatitis
  • Primary Irritant even in low levels of concentration.
  • Propylene Glycol may inhibit skin cell growth as shown in human tests and can damage cell membranes which can cause rashes, dry skin and surface damage.
  • Propylene Glycol is commonly used in Aircraft deicing fluid, antifreeze and break & hydraulic fluid and, although the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said propylene glycol is generally recognised as safe for use in cosmetics, food and medical supplies, Propylene Glycol (like ethylene glycol) affects the bodies chemistry by increasing acid in the body. Propylene glycol is metabolised into lactic acid, which occurs naturally as muscles are exercised, while ethylene glycol is metabolised into oxalic acid, which is toxic.

Always read the label on personal care and cosmetic products before buying and whenever possible, choose Organic based skincare and cosmetics. Particularly when used on Babies, Young Children and the Elderly.

What Is A Shortcut And How Does It Work

There are two types of shortcuts in windows operating system environment. On shortcut is a link created and placed anywhere. This is mainly placed where one can see it such as on the desktop. Right clicking on the desktop and selecting -New - Shortcut can create a shortcut link on the desktop. Then browsing through the next window to get to the file or program that you want to create a shortcut link on the desktop to.

Once you have selected the object for the shortcut you click finish and a link is created on the desktop. Clicking on this link will open the file. Another way is to navigate or browse to the file or program on the PC and right click and select ‘create shortcut’. The system will warn you that the short cut will be placed on the desktop for the particular object. Clicking ‘ok’ will accomplish the task. Now that you know what a shortcut is and how it works, you should also know the impact it may have on the registry of the system and why the registry has to be cleaned with a registry cleaner from time to time.

Some shortcuts can be created with the help of the windows keyboard. Presetting a set of control + Alt + (Key) will start up a program without you having to navigate to where the program is stored to get it up and running. However these shortcuts will all be registered in the registry and clutter it up as and when you keep on adding the shortcuts to the computer.

The registry is a central database of all the activity on the system and needs to be cleaned up regularly with a registry cleaner because as the registry grows older and is used more often it slows. When a shortcut key is pressed the shortcut keys refer to the registry for information on where to locate the program or file to launch. The registry in turn goes through its entire database in the section to locate the data being queried. So, if the registry is large with useless shortcuts, it will take a very long time to locate the shortcut that is being sought. This is the reason that the registry must be cleaned with a windows registry cleaner on a regular basis.

There are many free windows registry cleaners on the Internet. So go on and make your choice. It can only be of help to speeding up the system and making the operating system run error free and more efficiently with as few headaches as possible.

    Information on B5 (Pantothenic Acid)

Known as the “anti-stress vitamin,” B5 (Pantothenic acid) forms part of the B-complex group of vitamins. It is a water-soluble vitamin that can be easily absorbed by the body and can be manufactured by the intestinal flora.

    1. Uses of B5 (pantothenic acid)

B5 (pantothenic acid) supports the adrenal gland and is needed in the secretion of hormones which have an important role in metabolism, in the maintenance of healthy muscles, nerves, and skin, and in helping to fight allergies. B5 (pantothenic acid) is also used in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fat, and protein, as well as in the release of energy. It is also used in the creation of hemoglobin, lipids, neurotransmitters, and steroid hormones.

Pantothenic acid is also thought to help in anti-aging, particularly in fighting wrinkles and the graying of the hair.

    2. Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) deficiency

A short supply of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) may cause headaches, fatigue, nausea, depression, tingling of the hands, personality changes, and cardiac instability. Other symptoms may include frequent infection, abdominal pains, numbness, sleep disturbances, paresthesia, cramps, muscle weakness, and neurological disorders.

Shortage in vitamin B5 may also result to biochemical changes such as lowered blood cholesterol, increased insulin sensitivity, failure of adrenocorticotropin to induce eosinopenia, and decreased serum potassium.

    3. Sources of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid)

Vitamin B5 can be found in eggs, brewer’s yeast, fresh vegetables, saltwater fish, beef, liver, kidney, pork, royal jelly, mushrooms, torula yeast, nuts, whole wheat, and whole rye flour. It can be lost in cooking, especially with milling or roasting. Canning also destroys vitamin B5 to a large degree. It can also be lost when mixed with acids or alkali such as vinegar and baking soda.

    3. Recommended dosage

About 10 to 100 mg of vitamin B5 is indicated but no recommended dosage is provided by the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA). Vitamin B5 does not appear to be toxic when taken in large dosages, but diarrhea, water retention, and digestive disturbances is reported with dosages exceeding 10g a day. Taking 1,500 mg of vitamin B5 a day may cause sensitivity to the teeth over an extended period.

IMPORTANT: The manufacture, sale, and distribution of vitamin supplements, including vitamin B5, are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration Board. Manufacturers should strictly adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices, as standardized by the FDA. Compliance assures customers that the product does not contain contaminants and that it has the right amount of ingredients.

    Riboflavin Uses

Riboflavin, also known as vitamin B2, is a nutrient that forms part of the B-complex group of vitamins. It is water-soluble, easily absorbed, and manufactured by the intestinal flora in the body. Very small quantities of riboflavin are stored in the body, so daily replenishment is needed.

    1. Uses of riboflavin

Riboflavin is essential in the use of oxygen and in the metabolism of carbohydrates, amino acids, and fatty acids. It is also required in the activation and absorption of pyridoxine (vitamin B6) and iron, and helps to create niacin (vitamin B3). It assists in the adrenal gland, in red blood formation, in cell respiration and growth, in antibody production, and in the maintenance of the mucus membranes in the digestive tract.

Riboflavin also eases watery eye fatigue and is believed to be useful in the prevention and treatment of cataracts. It is essential during period of growth (for children), and is beneficial to keeping healthy hair, skin, and nails.

    2. Riboflavin deficiencies

Riboflavin deficiency causes dizziness, dermatitis, hair loss, light sensitivity, insomnia, retarded growth, poor digestion, burning feet, and slow mental responses. It can also cause eye disorders, skin lesions, inflammation of the tongue and mouth, and cracks and sores at the corners of the mouth. The recommended dosage for riboflavin, based on the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA), is 1.6 mg per day for males and 1.2 mg per day for females.

    3. Food sources of riboflavin

Food sources that are rich in riboflavin include eggs, milk, cheese, nuts, organ meats, and lean meat. It can also be found in fish, green leafy vegetables, legumes, yogurt, and whole grains. Riboflavin is also available for supplementation, usually formulated together with B-complex vitamins or in multi-vitamin supplements.

High dosage of riboflavin has no demonstrable toxicity. Also, the body’s limited capacity to absorb riboflavin precludes its potential for danger. Any excess of this vitamin is excreted in the urine — showing yellow discoloration — but is otherwise harmless.

Riboflavin is best taken with B-complex vitamins and vitamin C. Extra intake of riboflavin or supplementation may be necessary when consuming birth control pills, antibiotics, and alcohol, or when doing strenuous exercise.

IMPORTANT: Always note that the manufacture and sale of vitamin supplements is not restricted, controlled, or regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA); therefore, it is always advisable to choose supplements under a manufacturer that strictly complies with Good Manufacturing Practices, as outlined by the FDA. This will ensure you that the vitamin supplements contain the right amount of ingredients that was indicated in the label, and that it does not contain any known contaminants.

The product we personally use called Total Balance - http://www.health-product-we-use.com is the most natural and effective supplement we have come across. We have been using this product for over 3 years with excellent health results.
