What is Vitamin C?

Vitamin C is a water-soluble nutrient that plays vital roles in keeping you healthy. It is also known as ascorbic acid. Vitamin C is commonly used to treat a disease called scurvy. Say It With Me Now “You’re Here Illegally!”

The chattering welfare classes who believe that everyone owes them something are on the march. And what is worse is that there is no shortage of pandering politicians and media types willing to feed their delusional, me-centered paranoia that they “deserve” something based on the mere fact that they exist at a certain place at a certain time and consume oxygen.

Every day for decades news about illegal aliens has crossed the wire. But one thing has changed in this news recently. It used to be that the news about criminals who jump the border illegally, steal identities, and skirt numerous other laws was dominated simply by the crimes they were committing. Now those stories still exist and are getting more play than ever (and rightfully so) but they are joined by a spattering of stories about how now these criminals are living in fear of being caught and punished and how they and their enablers are upset about it.

Well Halle-freaking-luiah!

What a novel concept! Law-breakers living in fear?

The immigration debate in America lately has degenerated to a lot of whining by those who are not happy mainly because they are here illegally and committing numerous other crimes to remain here illegally. All this is of course above and beyond their first illegal act of jumping the border. This whining is mostly about how they might actually be held accountable for their actions. Joining them in their noisy complaints are others who seek to tap into this group of poor and suffering (sarcasm intended) scofflaws for social and political power.

What always seems to be lost in the argument within a minute or two however is that these people are here illegally; that they are law-breakers. And why shouldn’t it be lost? After all, if illegal aliens and their supporters had to deal with reality the argument might not turn out in their favor.

Take for example Chappaquiddick Teddy Kennedy and his pandering to illegal aliens who were caught after a raid on a New Bedford factory. He likened the results to the “tragedy and human suffering” that ensued in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

On one hand he is right. Because the “tragedy and human suffering” that resulted from the raid, much like that of Hurricane Katrina, was mostly the result of a bunch of people that did whatever they wanted and then complained after their own decisions (like staying in New Orleans despite days of warning) caused them to suffer.

But Teddy Kennedy was not referring to the fact that like Hurricane Katrina, much of the suffering these poor souls were going through was of their own doing. Nope. That would require promoting self-reliance. And we cannot have that.

Instead he is focusing on the fact that those arrested were separated from their families and in some cases their poor little children. Promoting the victimization of these people Kennedy said, “These men and women had not harmed anyone. They were victims of exploitation, forced to work under barbaric conditions by an employer who knew that they could not afford to complain. Their children, many of whom are United States citizens, had done nothing wrong at all. None of them had any reason to expect that the Department of Homeland Security would decide to make an example out of them.”

What? To listen to old Teddy you might believe that these people were snatched from their homes in their native countries by the evil American corporate machine and chained to their workstations by maniacal slave masters only to be harassed by the federal government. But the truth is that each of these people who are in the country “illegally” made a choice to violate U.S. immigration laws.

Say it with me boys and girls - they are “illegal aliens”. They broke the law.

If we adopted the Teddy Kennedy approach to punishing criminals we would have to consider letting any criminal that violated any law off the hook if they have a child that might suffer should they be taken away and punished. What an insane concept.

In another case, the ACLU is still out and about harassing cities like Hazelton, Pennsylvania that simply don’t want people that have violated United States immigration law in their city. The ACLU is trumpeting the claim that it is only the federal government that can enforce immigration laws and that anyone else that should even think about helping to enforce immigration laws (by making life difficult for those that are in the country illegally) is somehow violating the Constitution or civil rights.

Even a cursory review of the Constitution shows that Congress is granted the authority to set immigration laws. And if the law says that someone who does not follow current immigration law is in the country illegally would not a city, state, township or other such government that did not ensure such laws were followed be aiding and abetting criminals?

That’s too complicated of an argument for the ACLU apparently. Again, those that broke the laws to get here are portrayed as helpless victims instead of what they really are.

It’s important to note that cities like Hazelton are not creating immigration law and are not violating the powers of Congress on this issue. What they are doing, as Dan Stein of FAIR neatly states, “is doing nothing more than setting rules for how employers and landlords in the city do business, which is precisely the function of local governments”.

Well good gosh golly! You mean to tell me that they want to make sure that those under their jurisdiction don’t violate immigration law by hiring people that hopped the border illegally? Yet another novel concept!

To take the ACLU’s approach to its logical conclusion would be to say that citizens have no responsibly or even authority to report or help prevent a crime because “that’s someone else’s responsibility.” Will the founding fathers please call their offices? Because this thinking is so far out in left field that I am certain they would get a good chuckle. And then possibly after that chuckle they might like to give the ACLU a good talking to with the business end of a musket.

Say it with me again folks - these are “illegal aliens”.

And ultimately all this cracking down on people that are breaking the law seems to be actually having an effect as evidenced by the attitude of illegal aliens in a San Rafael neighborhood. In that area illegals are so scared of recent ICE raids that they won’t even come out of their homes. But to listen to Principle Juan Rodriguez talk about what is happening it is “a war of terror in this community” perpetrated by evil Americans.

Ok, one more time folks, especially you Mr. Rodriguez - these are “illegal aliens!”

Illegal aliens being too scared to even come out of their homes is a good thing as far as I am concerned. Eventually they will have to go back to where they came from if they can’t make it work for some employer that is looking the other way and make enough money to support their continued flaunting of the law.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in the stories of human suffering that occur when people make choices that put them in a precarious position. Like when they chose to come to the United States illegally. But what we cannot lose sight of, lest we become a nation too afraid to actually punish those that break the law, is that these people have put themselves in this ugly situation willingly. Oh, and the fact that they are here “illegally” should not be lost either. Just wanted to remind you of that.

It would be wonderful if anyone that wanted to come to the United States could just simply come here. But the reality of it is that if such a policy were implemented America would be flooded with every conceivable person both good and bad, both productive and lazy, from every country on the face of the Earth. So we set limits.

And those limits and current immigration are hardly able to be called “racist” as some have implied considering that in 2005 the countries with the highest rates of legal immigrants were Mexico, India, China, the Philippines, Cuba, Vietnam, the Dominica Republic, and Korea (source: Office of Immigration Statistics). In fact you have to go to number ten on the list to find a country that is predominantly “white” and that is the Ukraine.

Hey, I know that people want to come to America. It’s a great place. And I also know that there are many politicians that would love all sorts of people to come here too for various nefarious reasons. But the facts are that there is a line and it is a line that the Constitution clearly spells out and that we are allowed to set and that is reasonable.

So if you want to come here get in line. Show us that you can respect reasonable and just laws and we’ll be happy to consider having you join us. Otherwise you probably do not have the “right stuff” that we are looking for to help make this country greater than it already is.

The last thing we need are more people who believe that they can create their own reality where they can do whatever they want and then blame everyone else for the decisions they themselves made. Trust me; we have plenty of those types already.

traffic or visitors to your site. Without traffic your
perfect site is useless; it might as well not even exist.

Moreover, because traffic is an essential element of any
successful site, many novice webmasters make the mistake
of believing all traffic is created equal.

Huge mistake.

For if traffic is King; targeted traffic is God. All
traffic is good, but there is a great distinction between
ordinary traffic and targeted traffic. Someone clicking on
a link to your site who is looking for the exact information
or product you have displayed is said to be a targeted visitor.
These are the kinds of visitors or traffic you must try to
obtain in your marketing and link building.

Why?

Because targeted traffic is often the key to building a
successful site on the web. Targeted traffic will greatly
increase your sales conversions, bring back repeat visitors
and help your site gain a prominent online presence.

So here are 10 targeted traffic building steps you can take:

1. Google Is God!

Only half-kidding but at least where targeted traffic is
concerned, Google is still the all important being you should
be worshipping online. Don’t ignore the other two major demigods
Yahoo! and MSN, but Google will deliver most of your traffic.
Your website stats will point this out to you daily, so you must
optimize your site for Google.

As a general rule make your pages Google friendly by only using
one topic per page, include your keywords in the title, meta
description and url for that page. It would also be helpful
to have your main keywords in the first headline on the page
and most experienced webmasters try to place their keywords
in the first 90 words and in the last 25 words. Sprinkle your
keywords and variations throughout the copy but don’t keyword
spam, just let the engines know this is what your page is about.

2. Target The Right Keywords

You must target the right keywords in order to get
useful traffic to your site. You must first check the
number of searches and amount of competition for your
chosen keywords. You can use software like Keyword Elite
or sites like www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/
which will give you the Overture and WordTracker monthly
stats to help you pick the right keywords for your site.
Instead of picking highly competitive keywords, take
the middle road and milk the ‘long tail keywords’!

Most webmasters create a master keyword list for their
site then branch off into sub-categories from this
master list. For example, if you have a site on laptops
your sub-keyword categories could be laptop accessories,
laptop batteries and so on. Similar, most webmasters
only develop their sites in a simple hierarchy with the
homepage as the center with their major keywords as separate
pages and then sub-categories branching out from these.
Your webpages should not be more than three clicks away
from your homepage as this will really displease the search
engine gods!

3. Have Relevant Content

Perhaps what will appease the SE gods the most is relevant
content. Your content has to be relevant to the topic of
your site. Keep everything on topic and within the scope
of your site.

Relevant, helpful content will also be the biggest magnet
for targeted traffic. Surfers are usually looking for
information, give them what they want and your site will
reap the rewards. Original high quality relevant content
will draw in targeted traffic to your site so make sure
your have some good content to satisfy your visitors and
the search engines.

4. Let The Search Engines Find You

Instead of submitting your site to the search engines,
let them find your site. One of the best ways to do
this is by placing your links on high traffic/spidered
sites: on online forums matching your site’s content,
on social networks such as MySpace, YouTube, Squidoo…
and on articles directories like Ezinearticles, Goarticles,
and Ideamarketers. The search engines will follow these
links and index your site before you even know it.

5. Use Traffic Modules

One of the most effective ways to bring in targeted
traffic is to create traffic modules: whole areas of your
site devoted to one sub-topic. For example, if you have
a general site on cars, you could develop a whole
section on a car-buying guide. Another section could
be on car accessories, link all these pages together
into a neat traffic cluster on your site. The search
engines will love these closely grouped pages and reward
you with lots of targeted traffic.

6. Use Articles

Don’t forget article marketing, just because it has
become extremely popular doesn’t mean it has become
any less effective. Writing short helpful informative
articles on your site’s topic is still one of the best

links with your targeted keyword anchor text in the
resource box.

Article marketing is an invaluable source not only of
targeted traffic but also one-way links to your site.
These links will help increase your rankings, especially
in Google which considers each link as a democratic vote

Articles are also extremely important for pre-selling to
your potential customers. These articles warm or soften
up your prospective buyers to your sales pitch before they

7. Build Opt-in Lists

Most marketers and webmasters use opt-in lists to bring

receiving that visitor once, you can get repeat visits
by using a simple follow-up system with an autoresponder.

follow-ups before a potential customer buys.

Building a subscriber list will also be helpful in creating

Of course, there are many more ways of getting targeted
traffic to your site. But just using one or two of these

The first chart shows TLT (long-bond ETF; black line and left scale) and SPX (red dashed line and right scale) remain at high levels. Typically, after stock market corrections, both TLT and SPX fall (while cash is raised or investments are deleveraged). The 10-year bond yield has traded around 4 1/2% recently, while TLT has traded around 90. Also, below price chart, gold (GLD) has outperformed the commodities index (CRB), which reflect inflationary and slow growth concerns. Consequently, bond yields may rise and TLT may fall (I’ve added the most recent “Monthly Economic Review & Forecast” below the charts for free this week). So, TLT Sep puts may be buys. The second chart suggests the NYMO 50-day MA and NYSI haven’t bottomed and will not bottom for at least a month. So, SPX may fall much lower or trade in a lower range.

The U.S. economy had a quick and massive “Creative-Destruction” process from 2000-02 that made Information-Age firms more efficient and freed-up resources for emerging industries. The U.S. had slow growth from 2001-03, after the mild 2001 recession. However, real growth was around 4% for three years, in the mid 2000s, and has slowed recently, since the Fed is attempting to achieve a soft-landing, e.g. roughly 2 1/2% real growth. U.S. actual output generally slightly exceeded potential output in the mid and late ’90s and U.S. actual output has generally been slightly below potential output in the early and mid ’00s. Consequently, the U.S. had a slight economic boom/bust cycle. The Fed targets the general price level. Asset prices are only residuals. The U.S. has gained the most in the foreign economic boom and will lose the least in the foreign economic bust, because of monetary, fiscal, and globalization policies. The U.S. is in position to increase output through exports. So, actual output may rise to and slightly exceed potential output over the next few years.

Many people underestimate the benefits of globalization, particularly in the U.S., which has less restrictive policies than its major trading partners. Basically, U.S. consumers benefit directly from cheaper imports, Older U.S. producers benefit from greater foreign competition, which raises productivity or keeps prices low. Newer U.S. producers benefit from the freed-up resources of older U.S. producers. So, more new high value products can be created and produced. It’s a virtuous cycle that benefits U.S. consumers and producers. Globalization tends to increase the economic pie, e.g. through the Law of Comparative Advantage. However, the U.S. benefits more, in part, because of relatively less restrictive globalization policies.

Also, I may add, export-led economies have been financing much, if not all, of the U.S. war in Iraq and those economies will end up paying for much of the war.

A precipitous fall in the U.S. dollar will make U.S. exports cheaper and U.S. imports more expensive. Consequently, the U.S. will have inflationary growth, while export-led economies will have slower growth or recessions. The U.S. will tighten the money supply, while export-led economies will ease their money supplies. Nonetheless, U.S. trade deficits will become much smaller. U.S. bond prices should fall. So, export-led economies will lose in the U.S. bond market. If those economies shift into U.S. stocks or physical assets, they’ll pay premiums. The adjustment is inevitable, whether it takes place slowly or suddenly.

It’s important to realize that your job as a parent is that of a guide and not that of a boss. The lowest level of leadership is that of dictatorship - if you enforce certain actions they are usually followed with a sense of resentment and as long as your children feel like they have to satisfy someone else, they will never grow in themselves and never have high self esteem.

Self esteem comes from within. No one can give it to you. It is a feeling within yourself that makes you feel worthy, important and significant. We all have to have that - we all have to feel significant in some way and whether you meet this need in positive or negative ways, you will meet it. If you want to increase your child’s self esteem you need to seek ways of helping the feel significant in positive and empowering ways. Being the best in class can make a child feel just as significant as popping pills will. The only difference is in the way the need is met. Your job as a parent is to never push, but to guide and encourage your child to meet the need of significance in ways that will empower them and lay a strong foundation for their future.

With all the studies in self image psychology, one of the most significant findings was that all your personal performance can be directly related to your self image. Your self image is nothing but the way you ’see’ yourself and self esteem is nothing but the way you see and feel about yourself. This is everything in life. As long as you believe you don’t deserve something you won’t. As long as you believe you can’t, then you won’t. As long as you believe you are fat, you won’t loose weight.

So what can you do as a parent to increase your child’s self esteem? Realize that high self esteem comes from making yourself do difficult things. That feeling of pride in doing something that was hard and something that you thought you could not do, will give you an inner sense of accomplishment, self worth and belief in your latent abilities that raises your self esteem. Self esteem is universal and will encourage and enable your child to do and attempt other things that previously seemed impossible for them. Your role as a parent, to increase your child’s self esteem, is similar to that of a good coach. You are there to support and encourage your child, but never to push them too far. If you push them too hard you will raise your self esteem when they succeed and not theirs. Self esteem is an internal game and you have to encourage it within your child to make the decisions and to take the actions for him or herself.

You can help to increase your child’s self esteem by simply helping them to see the magnificence that is already within them. Teach your children to develop and have controls from within. Teach them that no one can make them feel bad about themselves without their consent and that other people’s opinions of them are none of their business. The key to high self esteem is to become inner directive and to learn how to listen to and trust in your own internal guide which is that unique perfection that is within each and every one of us.

As a parent you must lead by example. You can not expect your children to have high self esteem if you don’t. Value yourself and take care of yourself on all levels - emotionally, spiritually and physically. This is the simplest way that you can start to increase your child’s self esteem and when your children see how much you love and value yourself, they will soon follow. Not because they have to, but because they want to. Never try and raise your own self esteem through your children, their achievements and their accomplishments. This will break them down underneath the surface and until and unless they do and achieve their own successes, regardless of how small it might seem, they will never experience the bliss of self love and high self esteem.

Most Americans die in a hospital, nursing home, or other health care facility. 1. You cannot communicate your own wishes for your medical care:

A. Orally, B. In writing, or C. Through gestures, and

2. You are diagnosed to be close to death from a terminal condition, or to be permanently comatose, and

3. The medical personnel attending to your care are notified of your written directions.
