There are millions of nursing home patients in the United States. So many times when a nurse calls a physician regarding a patients cold symptoms or slightly elevated temperature, a doctor gives an order for an antibiotic to treat these symptoms, and usually a nurse is calling the physician to request a cough syrup, or to just inform the doctor of the patients condition. But why do the doctors order antibiotics so frequently over the phone, just because nurses have to inform them of changes in a patients condition? We need serious change here, because your child may need the antibiotic that is so frequently over prescribed by these doctors, for these common colds in the elderly population. By the time your child needs this frivolously prescribed antibiotic for an ear infection or a life threatening infection to save his or her life, the bacteria your child has may be resistant to this particular antibiotic because of overuse of this medicine. If they would order a chest x-ray or a urine culture first, or whatever testing would be indicated according to the symptoms, that would be a start in the war against over prescribing antibiotics. We already have a problem with Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium Difficile Infection and Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus, what is next? Serious guidelines for prescribing antibiotics must be enforced.

The whispers in the morning

Often in the early hours of the morning because I don’t work I am lying on my back in bed speaking to Jesus. Sometimes I speak in my mind and sometimes I speak in a soft voice like a whisper. Sometimes I speak to my groom, the lover of my soul for over an hour like this. Most of the time it’s in bed and it’s as I wind down for the night.

Are rolling like thunder now
As I look in your eyes

Often I am looking out to the sky but sometimes Jesus comes and sits on the end of my bed in a vision and suddenly we are speaking face to face. I have another article on the eyes of Jesus, but let me say Jesus speaks always from heart to heart. When he looks at you, you feel his words in your heart and you see the words coming out of His eyes.

I hold on to your body
And feel each move you make

One time when I was particularly sad Jesus came down and laid in my bed and I rolled over and hugged my pillow and it was just like I was hugging Him.

Your voice is warm and tender
A love that I could not forsake.

His voice is warm and tender and I wish every Christian that is reading this could really hear Jesus speak to their spirits like I do. I found a book at our Christian bookstore that I am going to buy on speaking to God. It’s called “Hearing God: by Dallas Willard. On Amazon a reader of the book that gives it five stars says:

“Renowned author Dallas Willard explains in nine chapters and an epilogue how it is possible for us to hear God, or, more specifically, how to develop a “conversational relationship with God.” An essential element in developing that relationship is to “live in the will of God.” In other words, we WON’T hear God if we approach his guidance just to make sure we are right or to make sure we will gain personal favor.”

Having conservations with Jesus and the Father are such a highlight in my life and with experience in is easy to bring other people prophetic messages of comfort as I simply speak what is put in my heart by God.

Of course when you have a conversational relationship with Jesus you’ll find yourself doing things that Jesus requests of you.

I was shocked. I was encouraging a friend at a church that I was going to every week. One day he told me that he thinks he heard God speak to him during the week. I asked him what did God say.

“He told me to stop drinking beer.”

I said, well that sounds like something He would say. But my beloved friend wasn’t sure. I wonder will he hear God again, will God speak a sentence to him again if he doesn’t give up the beer. I told him to give up for a few months and cultivate the relationship with God. I am not sure what He did as I don’t go to that church anymore.

I like doing what Jesus tells me to do. I do all that I can. Most often I can do what He asks me to do.

When I am in bed chatting to Jesus late at night I discuss the world outside with Him. I ask Him about the things that are making the world to hard to take and He gives me His insight and His comfort. It really is an awesome thing to speak to the Creator and the real Jesus Christ and speak candidly about your life and troubles and hopes and dreams.

Jesus makes me feel so good, I sometimes spend quite a lot of time speaking to Him and His Father. And on nights like tonight, His Holy Spirit sits on me and fills me with the words to type and the feeling of the anointing is so sweet and peaceful.

The Holy Spirit’s anointing of peace and direction is so comforting and when you have prayed enough He is with you through the day and it is just no wonderful. As a person prone to depression with Bipolar Disorder, I appreciate the counter to depression that the Holly Spirit brings.

Even though there may be times

Never wonder where I am
cause I am always by your side.

I am happy that Jesus visits me on earth. So often He has come and walked on my right hand side. He is only ever just a whisper away, all I need to do is ask Him a question and He is always there speaking to me.

To some people Jesus is in heaven and that is where he stays yet I have met Him in visions on many occasions on earth and I am sure He visits other people also. But even figuratively speaking Jesus is always by our side.

Sometimes He seems like He is far away from us. But if we focus on Him and spend time in His presence its fast for Him to return. For people that cannot get close to the Lord fast we should have church services every night. Wouldn’t that be good?

But I’m ready to learn
Of the power of love.

God has a purpose for my life and a direction he wants me to go in and it’s all uncharted territory. My dream is to preach full time. It seems no matter how busy I am I will always be writing articles and posting them on an online ezine also as I love doing that.

I love to do this writing and I love to preach and yet there will be many things to learn and sometimes the future scares me a little but I know God has it all planned. The power of Christ’s love will be perfected within me over time an I will do great things.

As inviting and innocuous-looking as your Jacuzzi or hot tub may seem, using it for therapeutic purposes will require more precaution than you probably expect. The first rule is: if there are potentially bothersome health issues, talk to your doctor. There are bodily conditions that warrant some amount of prudence.

Pregnancy

Most doctors will probably agree that it isn’t advisable for pregnant women to take too hot a bath. Who knows what injury the unborn baby may sustain if the mother’s body has gotten too warm? Pathogens in the water pose an added danger. Forgoing the delights of a hot tub until after giving birth and healing is a wise option many pregnant women take.

Heart Diseases

Be careful if you are taking anticoagulants. These blood-thinning drugs can make you vulnerable under extreme temperature. They may combine with the heat of the tub to cause fainting, dizziness or nausea. If the doctor gave you the go-signal to immerse yourself in the water, follow the prescribed duration and temperature, and if you feel anything undesirable or out of the ordinary, get out of the tub as soon as you can. Do it slowly, carefully. Take a cool shower, taking care that the water you shower with is not cold, and drink some more water.

High Blood Pressure

The relaxation brought about by a hot tub bath will be quite beneficial if you are suffering from high blood pressure. But beware of unwanted reactions if you are taking hypertensive mediations. Again, check with your physician first before taking that dip.

Substance Use

Imbibing alcohol while in the hot tub is like driving under the influence. When combined with the heat of the water, the dehydrating and blood-thinning effect of the alcohol may cause you to become weak or dizzy. You may also get sleepy and doze off until you slip under the water. Avoid taking over-the-counter drugs known to have the side effect of drowsiness. These would include cold, sinus and cough medications. Needless to say, you are in even greater danger if you are using illicit chemicals.

Exceeding Time Limits

There’s a limit to how long you, or anyone for that matter, should stay in a steaming tub. No more than twenty minutes inside is a good guideline. Conversing can make some people stay in the water more than is necessary. Getting overheated or dehydrated can be the result.

Water-Borne Diseases

Beware of the following conditions that may result from a poorly sanitized tub water, already made conducive to bacterial growth by the warm temperature in the first place:

  • “Hot tub” folliculitis, or pseudomonas folliculitis, an infection characterized by reddening and pus-filled blisters, and requiring medical attention.
  • The even more serious and potentially fatal Legionnaires’ disease, a form of pneumonia that is transmitted through water spray when breathed in.
  • Infections of the upper respiratory tract and the middle ear caused by bobbing of the head in and out of water.

Besides being a great way to relax, hot tubs offer therapeutic effects, when done the proper way, which is, with safety in mind. Proper Construction Methods For A Concrete Driveway

Sub-grade:

As with many home improvement construction projects, what you don’t see is more important to the finished project than what you do see. The preparation of the sub-grade when pouring a concrete driveway is critical, without it, the life of the driveway will be decreased dramatically.

The first phase is to clear the area to be concreted of all grass, tree roots, and topsoil. If you are putting a driveway in a new area of your property or if your property has been recently graded the underlying earth must be compacted. Once the earth is compacted, you can add the layer of sub-grade material, crushed rock. A standard sub-grade thickness for a driveway is 4 inches (consult a soil engineer in your area to obtain the optimum thickness) and it is key that the sub-grade maintains an even thickness throughout the width and length. A sub-grade that varies from 3.5 to 4.5 inches will create long-term problems. Do not use the sub-grade material as filler for any low spots.

If you have a 4-inch sub-grade of crushed stone and a 4-inch concrete slab, and you want the driveway to be level with the surrounding ground then you must dig-out 8-inches of soil and earth.

Complete the sub-grade by compacting. Make sure you allow for proper drainage as outlined further on in this article.

Forms:

Wet concrete is enormously heavy! If you are using wood forms, they should be a minimum of 2-inch thick lumber. Drive stakes into the ground at least every 2-feet on the outside perimeter of the form. It is wise to use an easy form release coating on the inside of the form, otherwise you are likely to break away pieces of the concrete when removing the forms.

Steel forms are now available, which maintain their shape. Most construction rental facilities have these forms available.

Concrete Mix:

A standard concrete mix is 2,500-psi. For a driveway, you will want a much stronger mix of 4,000-psi, with a 0.5 water to cement ratio, which provides a denser concrete and hence increases the wear ability. Because concrete is permeable it will draw moisture from the ground that it rests on. By using a 0.5 water to concrete mixture, you will reduce the amount of moisture drawn up which in turn will reduce any efflorescence action on the surface of the concrete.

If you live in a cold climate, order your concrete with air entrainment. Air entrainment provides microscopic air pockets within the concrete which is a place for moisture to freeze without applying undo pressure on the concrete.

Joint Location and Depth:

Joints should be put into the concrete driveway slab after the pouring is complete. In other words, the slab should be one complete pour. If you pour multiple slabs, they will shift and heave independent of one another.

The proper depth of a joint is 0.25 of the thickness of the concrete. If you have a 4-inch thick driveway slab the joint should be a minimum of 1 inch. Place the joints 2 to 3 times, in feet, based on the thickness of the concrete slab. Hence, a 4-inch thick slab would have joints spaced 8 to 12 feet apart. Proper depth and placement of joints will help to prevent cracking.

Drainage:

Providing adequate drainage is fundamental to the overall driveway design. The driveway, when complete, should have a minimum of a 0.25-inch per foot slope. The drainage should be considered when first preparing the sub-grade. If an adequate drainage slope cannot be provided because of surrounding buildings, you may have to consider the installation of a drain to collect water.

Use a laser level to set the slope of the forms.

Reinforcement:

Reinforcement does not prevent cracking. What reinforcement does is to reduce cracking and hold the slab together in the event of cracking.

For reinforcement, you can use wire mesh or steel bars (rebar) placed in a grid pattern. If rebar is used you must tie the joints together where individual bars meet. The reinforcing wire or bars must end up in the middle of the concrete slab and not rest on the surface of the sub-grade. To accomplish this you can rest the mesh or bars on stones or pieces of brick and then after the pour pull the wire mesh up and into the poured concrete.

Finishing:

To finish the slab you must use a bull-float. It is important that you allow the water on top of the concrete to evaporate before you start the finishing operation. Failure to do so can result in a weak surface area because of trapped surface water.

Of the seven nutrients analyzed only the nutrient niacin’s levels had increased. The results were similar for all the 25 fruits and vegetables tested. One of the worst results was from broccoli in which ALL nutrients had declined significantly including niacin with Calcium down by 63%.

Bottom line? The nutrients and vitamins (which are themselves antioxidants) are declining sharply in commercialized fruits and veggies.
