Learn More about Pheromones in Humans

The discovery of pheromones in 1959 led to several developments in the areas of relationships and behaviors. Pheromones were originally associated with the chemical substances that animals usually excrete to send a message to their own species. Further research on the topic widened the definition of the word pheromones to include other species such as human beings. In fact, pheromones in humans became one of the favorite subjects of researchers all over the world.

Technically, pheromones in humans are linked to the reproductive process and the attraction between men and women. According to studies, the effects of pheromones in humans can be largely detected in the relationship between the mother and child. Studies have shown that infants usually display instinctive attachments to their mothers through the smell, texture and sounds that can be associated with the mother especially when she is nursing.

Like in the case of animals and insects where the young often pick up messages through the pheromones left by their mothers, infants display distinctive characteristics of recognition. Such recognition led scientists to believe that pheromones in humans also function much like the pheromones in other species although in a less pronounced manner.

Aside from the studies conducted on the relationships between mother and child, there have been studies conducted regarding the effects of pheromones in humans when it comes to attracting the opposite sex. Although there has been much criticism regarding this matter and how it was not acceptable to some people that attraction between a male and female human being could be reduced to a simple interplay between the pheromones in humans, several scientists have made some discoveries in this area.

According to some studies, pheromones in humans play a big role when it comes to facilitating attraction. In most instances, the effect of pheromones in humans is termed as the X factor that makes some people more appealing to certain groups of people. Scientists believe that like the insects which send out genetic coding when they excrete pheromones to attract their mate, pheromones in humans may also contain some kind of genetic coding which may be easier to decipher by certain types of people.

Do pheromones in humans really work like the pheromones in insects and animals? A number of scientists would like to believe that they do. However, there are also many who vigorously object to such a conclusion because if we equate pheromones in human beings with that of other species, this could mean that like animals, humans could be made to falsely respond to certain synthetic forms of pheromones.

7 House Hunting Tips - Buying Your First Home Together

Congratulations on the decision to buy a home. Isn’t it exciting? Shopping for the perfect place to call your own and knowing that there aren’t any lease agreements, issues with the landlord or the recurring feeling that you are paying someone else’s mortgage when you could be paying you own is a terrific feeling. In this article, you will learn 7 very important tips to house hunting as a couple.

Choose a location. When you buy a home with your spouse, there’s a lot to consider. What, if any, length of a commute would the two of you be comfortable with? Do you prefer the bustling city life with access to all of the amenities or would you enjoy a quiet country setting? When choosing the location of your new home, these are all important factors. In addition, price is an issue for most couples and rural areas often provide the most square footage and/or acreage for your money.

Discuss your budget. In most cases, a home is the largest investment you will make. When it comes to buying, your budget will be the single greatest determining factor in what type of home you will be able to purchase. Credit history is important, but most lenders offer programs for those with a few blemishes in their financial past. The bottom line is that your budget can make or break your dream of home ownership, so it’s a good idea to sit down as a couple and write out your monthly income and expenditures. If you currently rent, you can leave this out of the equation because you will stop renting when you buy a home and the money that you are now using to rent can be applied toward a monthly mortgage.

Review your credit reports. When you are ready to approach a lender and request a mortgage loan, you will want to make sure that your credit report is accurate and, besides, it never hurts to know your credit score. If you find any inaccuracies, now is the time to correct them. You may find that derogatory comments on a credit file could result in high interest rates or, in some cases, the denial of your loan application. Make sure to check your credit report from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion at least two months prior to applying for a loan.

Talk about what you want. When you purchase a home with someone else, your desires aren’t the only ones that matter anymore. There’s another person in the equation now and their choice of home features is equally important as your own. If you are just starting out, a small home may be fine for now. But, if you plan to have children in the near future, you will need to think about whether or not a small home will be ideal for a growing family. The number of bedrooms and bathrooms will become an important choice and careful planning now could save you a lot of drama later.

Be willing to compromise. Ok, so you want a private office and your spouse wants a fireplace. But what can you do if the homes that you both like simply don’t have these two amenities? Do you walk away from what otherwise may be your dream house or do you compromise? In most cases, the latter would be the most obvious choice. If it’s a fireplace that you want, you can purchase a freestanding fireplace that looks just as beautiful as the real thing and you can create an office nook in one of the spare bedrooms.

Make an offer. If you are trying to sell a home, every realtor will tell you that you will likely receive offers that are lower than your asking price. When someone lists their property, they are usually asking more than what they will actually accept and this means you have some negotiating to do. When you find the home that you like, make an offer that is somewhat less than you can comfortably afford. This way, if the current owner comes back with a counteroffer, you can still accept and be within your budget.

Move in. This is the final step and, in most cases, the most fun of all. Now that your house hunting is over and all of the loan papers have been signed, it’s time to move into your new home. Ok, so maybe moving day isn’t the greatest but all of that hard work is going to be worth it in the end. When you can stop throwing your money away on rent and start building equity, both you and your spouse will be happy homeowners.

Are You Sure You’re In A Relationship

Other than love, there’s probably no word more misunderstood and misused than the word “relationship.” Ask several people what the word means to them and you’re not likely to get the same answer. When I was a kid knowing the definition of the word relationship was simple. Although we didn’t use a big word, as kids we had a formal understanding of what exclusivity meant. There was the old custom of asking a girl to be your girlfriend. “Will you be my girlfriend” was something you’d stammer in a nervous question after school. Or you’d go the written route and nervously scribble a note and rewrite it three or four times.

A few years later in high school things got a little more complicated. Where I grew up there were two definitions of a relationship in high school. One was, “were just friends.” “Just friends” was a deliberate signal you sent to other potential suitors. It meant, I’m interested in this person but we’re not exclusive. It was a simple definition that everyone in school understood. If another guy was interested in a girl I liked and I had publicly stated “we’re friends” then he was free to pursue her and I knew that. The other publicly understood definition in high school was the attachment of the titles boyfriend and girlfriend; or informing everyone that you were “going steady.” In that case, everyone knew you were a couple, no ifs ands or buts about it.

But when we get to adulthood things get much more complicated. For adults there’s no simple definition for what a relationship is. In fact, it’s down right confusing and frustrating. Short of marriage there’s no real definition for a relationship. Here are a couple of misunderstanding that occour in the adult world of dating and relationships.

But I Thought Since We’ve Been Dating So Much…

“This is my girlfriend, Cindy.” Mike said to a friend at a party. Cindy grabbed Mike by the arm and rushed him into the hallway of the suburban home for a quick defining of their situation. “Look, I’m not your girlfriend so please don’t tell your friends that!” Mike was taken aback and insulted. After all he’d been going out with Cindy frequently during the past two months. They didn’t talk the rest of the night. Not even on the drive home. To some the word relationship means anyone they’re dating repeatedly. Often one person is shocked to find out someone they’ve been out with several times considers them in a relationship. One person assumes that the frequent dating means they are a couple but the other is not on the same page.

But We Made Love…

Others think a relationship becomes formal with sex, especially if it they are highly discriminating about sexual partners. But everyone doesn’t see it that way. For example, Anna made that mistake. Anna and Charles had connected well on three dates. So they hadn’t been seeing each other long when they lost all will power one Saturday afternoon on her couch. What was supposed to be a casual date turned into a couple of hours on the couch and the living room floor. A few nights later they had sex again. Then the same menu that weekend. Anna assumed she and Charles had a hot new love budding. But Charles didn’t see it that way. Over the next week he became difficult to contact. He showed up again around 10:30PM one night and left disappointed when Anna didn’t want to have sex. After that he didn’t call anymore and Anna was screened out on his call notes.

More than anything, assumptions get people into trouble in this area. We assume that because certain things happened or certain things have been said that a relationship is in progress. Wrong! The reality is relationships need to be given a definition. I know it sounds like I’m reducing romance to a business transaction but this is the only way to avoid confusion and heartbreak. We have to be real about relationships. The fact is that despite how much people love romance and the tingling feeling it brings, some aspects of it must be clearly defined to avoid disaster. Defining a relationship lays out expectations. It’s a sort of contract between two people as to how they will behave. Maybe in the 21st century we need a contract for relationships. A legal document with everything spelled out, duration, no sex or frequency of sex, cohabitation rules, time together, time alone, AIDS/HIV and sexually transmitted disease testing, a break-up clause, rewards for good behavior and longevity, penalties for not honoring the agreement and a clause prohibiting psycho stuff after the break-up.

But everyday people don’t define where they are on the romantic map and leave it to chance. It seems we often expect the other person to be magically aware of when things are getting serious. But they may not. As Darryl and Anna have shown us, assumptions about exclusivity in dating are a prescription for trouble. Instead of leaving it to chance, have an honest talk about where things are headed when you feel the time is necessary between you and someone you’re seeing. It may shock them that you were even thinking things were getting serious. Or, they may be relieved that you were thinking the same thing they wanted to say. But either way you need to get a clear definition of this very important area of your life. Don’t make assumptions.

How to Buy Human Pheromones

Discussions on the possibilities of buying human pheromones have been a subject of many discussions in the past along with the issues of cloning and other forms of substitution of human body parts.

Although substitution of human parts such as in the case of buying a human heart for transplants have been accepted as ethical and can be permitted, the question as to whether or not it is ethical to buy human pheromones is still very controversial. Note that human pheromones have been closely associated with reproduction and attraction of the opposite sex so normally, people react strongly on the suggestion that it is alright to buy human pheromones.

Pheromones were first discovered in 1959 when a group of scientists studied the behaviors of insects. According to the study on pheromones, insects excrete this substance to communicate with their own species. Later on, it was found out that other types of animals including humans do have pheromones which are responsible for some forms of communications especially between mothers and their infants and in the attraction between sexes.

Note that according to studies in the areas of human pheromones, the mother and infant communicate with one other in such a way that they are able to convey certain types of messages without the use of words. Infants instinctively recognize their mothers by simply relying on the scents, textures and smells that the mother emits.

In the case of opposite sex attraction, human pheromones are said to facilitate the bonding of two people. According to some researchers, the human pheromones play an active role in giving out sexual messages. In fact, according to some, the pheromones can be so closely associated with reproduction in almost all species that it is but normal that human beings also emit this type of chemicals to attract their mate. Given this explanations on the human pheromones, a lot of people are turning to buying human pheromones to enhance their sexual desirability.

Although there are many people that are thrilled with the idea that they can buy human pheromones, there are also many who do not like even the mere thought of purchasing human pheromones to attract their mates. A lot of people believe that human relationships should come naturally and it is wrong for science to tamper with the natural flow of human relationships. It is their belief that it is wrong to buy human pheromones and that tampering with the natural flow of things could cause problems.

Ride The Hiawatha Trail

The Hiawatha Trail on the Border between Montana and Idaho is a jewel of a rails to trails ride. This is part of the old Milwaukee Road railroad. The trail starts 5 miles from the Montana Idaho border on the Montana side. You leave Interstate 90 at the Taft Exit #5 on the Montana side. Then follow the signs about 2 miles to the parking lot.

The trail starts by going into the Taft Tunnel. This is the longest tunnel on the trail and is 1.8 miles long. You need to take good lights to ride in the tunnel. When you enter the 1.8 mile tunnel you will see a speck of light at the other end. It is really dark without a light. Halfway through the tunnel you cross the border into Idaho. Even in the heat of summer this tunnel is cold.

From here the trail starts down the western slope of the rockies. There are many overlooks and several more smaller tunnels. The Hiawatha Trail has several old railroad bridges. This part of the railroad line was built between 1908 and 1911. These bridges were refitted by the US Forest Service to make them safe for biking and walking. About every mile there is a small historical stopping place. Each will have a turn out to get away from the trail.

Who can ride the Hiawatha Trail? The trail is a very gentle 2% grade all the way from the exit of the first tunnel to the bottom of the trail. During the summer months there is a shuttle service that you can buy a ticket to ride back to the top. It is not a hard ride back up. If you do not ride a bike much expect to ride down the trail at about 10 mile per hour. It is 14 miles so it will take about one and a half hours of riding. This is very easy for even the most sedentary because you can easily break it into twenty minute rides with plenty of rest stops. With all the scenic overlooks and signs most people take two and a half to three hours to ride down. The ride back up the hill will take a little longer probably two to two and a half hours of riding if you do not ride a bike a lot.

The Hiawatha Trail is Beautiful. The beauty of the trail comes partly from the fact that it goes through an area of Montana and Idaho that hasn’t changed much since Lewis and Clark traveled though the Western United States. There aren’t any telephone lines or power lines or cell phone towers within sight of the Hiawatha Trail. Even though you can see almost forever in this area there is very little sign of man except for the trail itself and the access road. It is practically wilderness area that we all can enjoy without having to walk for hours.

Hiawatha Trail Summary. A beautiful summer bike trip just off Interstate 90 on the east side of the Montana Idaho border. If you are traveling through the Northwest, this is another great reason to bring your bike. Any Comfort, Mountain or Cruiser bike will do The roadbed is a well developed stable gravel road. I would not recommend riding a narrow Road tire on this trail. The vistas, Tunnels, and bridges are stunning. Enjoy

Positive Aspects Of Background Checking

Who is your neighbor? Really who are they? You know his name is John and he’s a mechanic, but did you know that he got divorced 8 years ago because he and his ex-wife filed for bankruptcy and couldn’t seem to work things out? Did you know that your elderly retired neighbours across the street seem to have nothing else better to do but file lawsuits against people who they believe have done them wrong? These are just a few of the many things that you can discover with a background check program, from the comfort of your own home.

Every second more and more people are brought into this world and with a higher population comes a higher amount of criminals, it’s inevitable, unfortunately. Of course there are many good people in the world as well, but how good are they? Maybe they too have a dent in their history. The Internet is truly amazing there are so many things we can find out with minimal effort compared to 20 years ago. You no longer need a private investigator, you no longer need to go out of your way or risk someone finding out that you are curious about their history. You can now find closely-guarded information about your boss, employees, friends, neighbors, doctor, ex-spouse, lovers… Investigate potential dates, applicants, business partners. Even search the information others could learn about you.

Why risk potentially putting yourself in harms way because you neglected to do a background check on someone? There are so many good cons and liars out there. There are pedophiles who neglect to register in the community you are living there are people with criminal records living as close to you as next door, but you’ll never know unless you find out. You may own a business and neglect to check a persons criminal record and they turn out to have been arrested on theft charges. Sometimes being a little snoopy can save your butt!

Soccer Injuries - Head To Toe

Soccer is a very popular sport both locally and worldwide. References to the sport go as far back as 200 BC in China and around 4 BC in Greece. However, soccer as you and I know it did not have a formal set of rules set down until 1848 at Cambridge University.

Soccer is a very physically demanding sport, thus making those who participate vulnerable to injury. The National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) has done various studies on injury rates in high schools athletics, including soccer. It was found that most injuries in soccer occur to the ankles and feet, followed closely by the hip, thigh and leg area. Common injuries include ligament sprains/tears, muscle strains, contusions (bruises), cartilage tears (more common in the knee) and fractures. Higher percentages of injuries occur while kicking and when engaging in controlled pattern activity. Injury rates were higher at different positions as well. Halfbacks had the highest rate of injury where the goalkeeper had the lowest. Interestingly, soccer was the only sport studied that had more injuries during games than in practice. The statistics are very similar when comparing males and females in respect to the above information.

Head injuries are also of some concern. Studies by the NATA have shown that ball velocities can reach speeds up to 100km/hr (62 mph). However, most situations in which a player will head the ball would be at speeds slower than 100km/hr. Average speed from a punt is 70km/hr (43 mph) and a drop kick or goal kick 85 km/hr (53 mph). Most opportunities to head a ball are at velocities less than 65 km/hr (40 mph).

Where the ball strikes the head and how the player strikes the ball are also of importance. Head-ball contacts that occur on the side of the head or the forehead of an unprepared player can lead to “whiplash” like injuries. It is recommended that contact be made at or near the hairline. Although the evidence is not conclusive that repetitive head shots cause significant impairments in the long term, it is still worthy of precaution.

It is no secret that preventing injuries is preferred. With the higher demands on young athletes today, off-season training including weight training and general conditioning is an important step towards preventing in-season injuries. A 15 minute warm-up before practice and games and a brief cool-down period is also recommended. Rest and fluid breaks are important as well. Protective gear such as mouthpieces and shin-guards can be very helpful. There are even various types of headgear that can be worn to protect the head.

While we all get bumps and bruises, more serious injuries that involve high levels of pain, swelling and loss of function should be evaluated by your physician. Your physician may refer you to physical therapy for treatment. Your Excel physical therapist can guide you through a rehabilitation program to get you back on the playing field as quickly and safely as possible. Best of luck to all athletes this spring season!

The Rewards of Playing an Acoustic Electric Guitar

I’ve been playing acoustic guitar for several years now, but it was just recently that I finally purchased an acoustic electric guitar. At the beginning of my guitar-playing days, I was just playing for fun, and so I didn’t really need an acoustic electric guitar. Essentially, a normal acoustic and an electric acoustic guitar are almost exactly the same, except for one very significant difference: the electric one contains a built-in pickup. This means that you do not need to insert an additional pickup to the guitar to amplify it. You merely plug it in, and you’re ready to play.

When you are just playing by yourself, you have no need for an acoustic electric guitar. Because unless you’re playing with a band, amplifying is probably not your biggest need. Normal acoustic guitars generate enough volume on their own, and don’t require the amplification level an acoustic electric guitar amplification produces.

An acoustic electric guitar does have several advantages over a normal acoustic with an added pickup. To start with, when playing the electric guitar the pickup is always with you. There is no need to drag it around, and no concern about the pickup falling out. In addition, acoustic electric guitars are likely to include superior quality pickups, and these pickups will be well mounted. Pickups added for a non-electric acoustic guitar are difficult to position to get a great quality of sound.

One of the best features of a new acoustic electric guitar, though, is the built-in controls included with it. There is really no easy way to control the volume of a normal acoustic guitar that’s been amplified. But an acoustic electric guitar has volume controls built into the guitar itself. This is such a great feature. If your guitar volume level doesn’t sound the best to you, then rather than going over to the amp and tinkering with it, you can instead adjust the volume on the side of your guitar. If you are playing a gig, this can be a big timesaver (not to mention it looks more professional to the audience).

An acoustic electric guitar can help evoke the confidence and desire one needs to play the guitar with other people. Although it takes more than a great guitar to play well, having an acoustic electric guitar represents a big step in that direction.
