Freckles, Carbuncles and Boils

We all heard of acne before but how about freckles, boils and carbuncles. It is not far away from acne problem and some of us do not even know it. Freckles, boils and carbuncles are more like skin disorder that are yucky in certain cases.

I will start off with freckles which it is a brown spot on the skin due to the skin being exposed to the sun. Skins are sensitive to ultra violet rays thus freckles appear on it when we are in the sun for a long time without protection. Freckles are categorized as 6f in the skin disorder chart but it is not consider skin disease. However, there is natural remedy to this disorder. Firstly, Grind yellow mustard in milk and apply to the face during the night, wash your face the next morning. Secondly, Mix an equal quantity of turmeric and sesame seeds, grind in water and apply to the face. Lastly, Make a hole in the watermelon rind and put some grain of rice in it. Take the rice out after a week, grind and apply it to the face.

Boils are the results of bacterial infection of the hair follicles which occurs around areas covered with coarse hairs and also subject to mild repetition of friction. IT looks like a small red but painful nodule, increasing in size for a few days and become soft at the top of the skin discharges pulse. It usually runs its own course after a few weeks which no treatment required but it leaves a scar after healing. When boils are concentrated at the face which is large, antibiotic administration is needed to ensure it does not spread. If the boils appear on the nose or the upper lip, inside of the nose might get inflamed and might be accompanied by fever. There are some remedies that one can follow to reduce the effects of boils. Food intake must be taken care where sour and fatty foods should be avoided. Take watermelon as it cleanses the blood.

Carbuncles are a group of boils that are close together which may form a larger boil with several opening on its surface. Carbuncles are very painful especially in those areas which are close to the underlying tissue such as nose and skin. It strikes young adults which might also indicate a health problem such as diabetic. However, carbuncles are similar to boils which the remedy is also same. In this case, treatment should be administered to ensure the problem does not spread.

In conclusion, these problems might seem like normal pus growth but sometimes we might misinterpret and can be serious. Even worse if the infection goes to the brain and the damage might be unimaginable.

Performance Management

If we in business are going to “number our days to present a heart of wisdom” then we have to start taking a strategic view of the manner in which we work. In my work with clients all across America, the number one thing that deters excellence in performance-regardless of role, age, gender, sector, or experience-has to be the phenomenon I call “time debt.” Time debt is the chronic bleeding away of energy and focus due to un-calendared, strategy-less work. And, believe it or not, technology like Microsoft’s Outlook 2003 can make a significant difference.

Called in Time

Just like a soldier, you have a post…a place to stand guard over, a garden to tend. Your post includes three key areas: Time, treasure, and people priority. 1 Thess. 4:11 says, “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business.” Your post is “your business,” and it is your responsibility to take care of it. It takes diligent strategy and faith.

Simply put, “your post” is the context in which you work out your calling. Your calling is that transcendent aspect of your life in Christ…it’s the expression of your true identity “chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world.”

Although your calling-what you are made to be and the commiserate expression of it-is eternal, your post can change. But just like with a soldier, your post changes only upon orders. We must obey God. “My food,” said Jesus in John 4:34, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” Note that he didn’t say, “my work.” This is key. Truly no one can serve two masters. Your work doesn’t come from your boss or your customers. It comes from God Almighty.

But with your post also come your enemies. And the ugly part is that all these enemies produce one thing: Unending Time Debt.

Debt, whether in terms of time or money, can have the same debilitating, crippling effects. But all is not lost. Let’s look at what time debt does and how we can reverse it to the glory of Him who for freedom set us free.

Jack was a salesman for a large manufacturing company. With increasing pressure to move operations overseas, the atmosphere of work was grim and rumors were on everyone’s lips. Jack and all the others in sales were working their fingers to the bone to make their quotas.

Jack rolled into his office on Monday and he saw his unforgiving time debt for the hundredth time. He simply sat there at his desk and stared at the mountain of unfiled papers, the 325 unread emails, and a monitor covered in sticky notes. He could hear his heart speed up. He pitifully looked down at his well-worn to-do list and as soon as he could force his eyes away, he’d already seen at least 40 things he was supposed to have done last week.

So Jack, a believer, tries to do his best. But while he’s gathering his courage to face another day in such unbearable debt, his boss barges in and…well, you can guess the outcome…the list just got longer.

When Jack first came to work, he had energy, focus, and hope. Now, all that had been plucked from him and exchanged for fear and guilt-fear of life without a paycheck and the guilt of knowing that this was not what he was destined for. So, after a long moment of despair, Jack tries again to just start at the top of the list.

You can finish this story. Let’s be honest here, we’ve all be Jack at one time or another. Somehow we’ve not seen that our life in Christ really must be totally integrated. For the believer there are no false divisions called sacred and secular. And because of division, we’ve used technologies that simply don’t serve us. And one of those is the task list. They don’t ever allow us to see the big picture and, worst of all, because there is always more work to be done, they keep us in perpetual time debt.

Feeling Overwhelmed?

So what is Jack to do? What technology can he use? How can he get out of time debt, hear God, and have that life of freedom Jesus supposedly set us free for? How can Jack stay on his post and win?

He can start by taking the task list and doing something that borders on insanity: He can go through it item by item and estimate the time each task will take! Now, I’ve had many clients who I’ve walked through this process and the response is generally the same: “God help me! I have 86 hours of work to do on my task list!” To which I reply, “Has God authorized all that work? Has God authorized you to be stressed out and anxious?”

What nasty questions, I know. But obedience is really the only relevant issue.

The next painful step is to actually take a program like Outlook’s calendar and put every single task into it. If you want to be present to your life, slow down internally enough to hear what work God is authorizing, and actually get the work done, then you’ve got to get out of time debt.

The problem with the task list is that it is resides in the back of your mind as stuff you need to do, but haven’t done yet…subtly stalking you day and night. You are documenting and reinforcing a sense of constantly being behind in keeping up.

But, there is hope. Sometimes technology that is really effective is really simple. This is certainly the case here. The beauty of this performance management technology is that all you have to do is follow orders all day long. And when you’re done…you’re truly done. Task lists usually tempt us into doing the items that are easiest first. Result: More and more time debt…feeling behind, overwhelmed, running at the speed of light with our hair on fire. And, frankly, working just like the world!

The Answer

So here’s how to make the task list work to your advantage: 1) Take all your tasks and estimate the time each will take. 2) Schedule all the tasks…in other words transform the tasks into appointments. Now at the beginning of each day, pray over your calendar asking God to show you what work He is “in” for the day. Ask Him what work He is authorizing for the day. If something needs to move, or the order needs to change, do so. But, discipline is required. Once the tasks become appointments and the appointments become “authorized work”, the rush of freedom begins…you start to feel the time debt melting away. You no longer have 45 things to do…you have just one thing to do. Freedom at last!

Just open your calendar and honor the appointments. Why? Because you believe that they are authorized. You’ve abandoned the time debt and red-faced running around the world offers in return for your blood, sweat, and tears…stealing you away from the “eternal now” in which your heavenly Father has designed you to dwell.

You may think this plan is crazy. But I’ve seen the freedom first hand and it is real. It lets you be done with work when work is over.

After all you aren’t working for the boss, you are working for The Boss! And He has called you to a light yoke and an easy burden. How is that possible you ask! One way: Do only the work He authorizes. How can you do that? Get rid of your time debt and take your orders from Him.

If we in business are going to “number our days to present a heart of wisdom” and be “salt and light” in the earth, then we have to start taking a strategic view of the manner in which we work. The technology is there in any basic calendaring system. Use it to hear God, stay on your post, and bring value to every minute of your day. Now that’s real performance management!

7 Marriage Tips For Lucky 7-7-07 Marriages

1. Praise your spouse. Be willing to say “thanks” for the little things your spouse does for you. Ask for assistance in solving problems, particularly in areas in which you know your spouse is more capable than you. Be willing to ask for and accept your spouse’s opinion without feeling threatened. Make your spouse feel like he/she is the most important person in the world to you.

2. Keep your own ego in check. Never be too proud to apologize when the other has been offended. Accept that no one’s perfect and we all make mistakes. Give kind, constructive criticism only when a situation truly warrants it; otherwise, swallow your pride and keep your mouth zipped. Accept your spouse’s apologies graciously.

3. Keep communication lines open. When differences arise, be willing to talk things out. If you’re too angered, tell your spouse you need some time to cool off. However, agree upon an exact time to revisit the problem. Never sweep issues under the rug because sooner or later they will resurface - and be worse. Do more listening than talking.

4. Display affection for the other - both emotionally and physically. Recognize each other’s needs and adjust your behavior accordingly. Remember that your needs and feelings are likely to be completely different than those of your spouse. An unexpected compliment or a surprise hug or favor go a long way!

5. Live within your financial capabilities. Lack of fiscal responsibility leads to bickering and erosion of the marriage. Establish a financial plan, and spend and preserve accordingly. Realize that there may be periods of downward fluctuations, but together you can work through the tough times, hang in there, and reverse the course.

6. Laugh - a lot! Your wife threw away the casserole that you were planning to eat for lunch. Your husband told you the wrong date - the friend’s party was last night, not tonight. Blunders and gaffes are a normal part of life. In the scheme of the bigger picture, most errors are trite. Laugh about them. A sense of humor is vital to marital endurance and keeping the marriage on an even keel.

7. Be together. Be separate. Be it community, religious or political, jointly participate in activities in which you share a common interest. There’s value in separation, too. Each spouse needs to maintain his/her individuality with hobbies, friends, and the like.

BONUS: Determination + Teamwork = Success. Even when you are polar opposites in a situation or have conflicting opinions on a specific life topic, if you are “determined,” you can find a way to compromise and develop a solution acceptable to both. (Sometimes a partner may have to yield completely. But, things will go that person’s way at some other time.) The two of you should function as a “team” with a shared goal is to face life - and all of its ups and downs - together. Combined, “determination” and “teamwork” pave the way for a loving, lasting and fulfilling relationship.

How To Deal With Headaches In The Back

Pain in the back of the head is often associated with tension headaches. Tension headache is usually described as dull and moderate. People experience unpleasant and achy sensations of pressure on the forehead at the sides or back of the head that are similar to having a tight band around the head.

The exact cause of tension headaches is not fully known, however researches believe that it is closely linked to changes of brain chemicals (serotonin, endorphins), that work as neurotransmitters (substances that help nerves to communicate) and vasoconstrictors (substances that cause blood vessels to constrict).

There is also evidence that both tension headaches and migraines have similar cause and therefore are related. Even though migraine headaches are usually more intense than tension headaches and start on one side of the head, sometimes the sufferer may also feel pain in the back of the head, around eyes or in the forehead.

Headache in the back of the head may be triggered by stress that leads to muscle tension, lack of sleep, skipping meals or overeating, poor posture, lack of exercise, uncomfortable position during sleep (sleeping on high pillows or using too many of them), depression or anxiety and overuse of headache medications, especially pain-killers and sedatives. For women both tension and migraine headaches tend to worsen during or right after menstruation, menopause, pregnancy and use of oral contraceptives.

Although tension headaches and migraines in most cases are not the result of any underlying serious diseases (brain tumor), if left untreated over the time can become chronic. Your headaches are considered chronic if you get them 15 or more days a month for at least three months. Chronic headaches are a lot harder to treat and sometimes they may persist for years. Many people suffering from chronic headaches complain that their pain becomes daily and almost continuous.

Fortunately, there are many different treatments available, if you don’t want to wake up and go to bed with a headache every day. The most effective way of managing any headache is to prevent it. To do that you need to avoid things that may provoke your headache, learn to manage your stress using various relaxation techniques, incorporate healthy diet and regular exercise into your lifestyle and find the most effective combination of safe non-drug treatments like herbal remedies, acupuncture, acupressure, aromatherapy, massage, meditation or hypnosis.

If you experience pain in the back of the head, over-the-counter painkillers like ibuprofen, aspirin or acetaminophen are, of course, the fastest way to stop your headache, but they are certainly not the safest way. Try to avoid taking painkillers and sedatives, unless absolutely necessary, as they can lead to rebound headaches and make the pain worse.

Companies Too Big to React Will Fail

In 1996, my brother and sister-in-law decided to retire… leave the Chicago area. They chose to move to the Colorado desert-mountain city where I live.

As a banker, I’ve heard so many excuses about why businesses fail. However, during this move, I saw at least a dozen, sound reasons that cause either failure or lost profits.

Bob and Lea opened a bank account with a major local bank and wire transferred close to $200,000 from their prior bank. They were given about eight temporary checks. They were told it might take two-weeks to get new checks and they needed to buy new furniture, appliances, a home, draperies, etc. Plus, they had daily living expenses. A banker thought eight checks were enough?

When Bob and Lea retired, they sold everything — house, furniture, appliances — and decided to buy all new stuff, from coffee pot to mixer-blender and toaster.

Bob and Lea went to a large furniture store and purchased close to $4,000 in new merchandise (which wasn’t going to be delivered for over two-weeks). When Bob wanted to pay for the merchandise by writing a check, they were told the store did not accept temporary bank checks.

My brother tried to explain in pretty basic terms that the check would have 14-days to clear the bank before the furniture would be delivered, but the young woman had her instructions. It was only because of a sharp salesman who overheard the conversation that the store didn’t lose the entire sale. I can understand why stores don’t accept temporary checks on purchases a person carries out of the store with them. But to not take a temporary check that will clear the bank ten days before the customer has any of the store’s goods in his/her possession is insane.

This is a good example of poor application of a too rigid policy. When Bob and Lea opened their bank account, they were given a debit card. It looks and feels like a credit card, but instead takes money directly from your checking account.

When they purchased two new televisions sets (one 35″ and one 25″), a new refrigerator and a new washer/dryer, they gave the salesman their debit card. After all, they had a medium-low six-figure amount in the bank. The amount was denied by the bank. The bank had forgotten to tell my brother that there was a daily $3,000 withdrawal limit on the card and his purchases exceeded that amount.

The branch manager was wonderful… she called the store and explained it was a bank error. But it shouldn’t have happened. It was embarrassing. Not only that, it just isn’t a good way to tell a new customer that his/her banking needs are in good, reliable hands.

There has for years been an inexpensive software program for banks to use which imprints people’s names on temporary checks.

Banks like to talk about how hard they try to improve customer service. They do expensive research… they do focus groups. It might help if they used a little common sense. It might help to go out in the marketplace and try to use your own products to see if merchants accept them. It might help to think of the needs of people new to the community. They require more than eight temporary checks.

It doesn’t take a terribly bright person to figure out that one of the most basic needs people have when they establish a new checking account is access to the money being placed in that account.

It also doesn’t take much research to find out that merchants often don’t accept temporary checks with no name, address, or check number on them. And, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out if merchants don’t take the checks a bank is giving customers as “temporary,” new customers are going to be very inconvenienced for the time it takes the bank to get permanent checks to them. This, by definition, is not quality customer service.

Bankers are not the only ones that make questionable business decisions.

Last January, my very elderly parents finally had the decision about whether to move into assisted care taken from their hands. My stepfather fell down the basement stairs… he did not take proper care of his Type II diabetes and his blood glucose level was 600 when the emergency medical technicians (EMTs) got there. He had double pneumonia, a high fever, and the fall caused a mild heart attack. He was taken to the ICU for several days, then to a rehabilitation center.

My parent had been living in the place they wanted to stay until death for about 40 years. We had been trying to get them into assisted care for years. But home was home. The house had not been properly cared for. We all made trips to Denver to try and help, but I’m the baby of the family and I’m 69. Bob had to have five by-passes last June. To make a very long story short, my stepfather had ignored water in the basement and mold was now living there. He made a dumb waiter to increase kitchen closet space and left 220 wiring exposed. There were numerous problems caused because of the age of the residents… there were things they just could not do. And the entire house needed to be updated if we were going to sell it for the going market price in that area of Denver.

After an initial meeting with a contractor who could not get it through his head that we did not want to build a new home, just update this one, Bob went to Home Depot. They explained they could replace the kitchen cabinets for about $3,500 and would be glad to do a layout design that would be based on exact measurements. They gave him a time schedule and he paid the fee - about $250 - for the design work.

Bob offered to put $30,000 in a deposit account with Home Depot so my handyman of six years, Myron, could buy whatever he needed to get the house painted, the floors finished, etc. No. They could not do that. Instead, they insisted Bob get a credit card with them.

Maybe that makes sense to you, but it sure did not make sense to me. When someone offers to pay you in advance for your products and work, take the money and let them draw against it. There will be no credit problems or unpaid items. We couldn’t use a credit card because my brother was a five hour drive to the west of Denver and Myron, who was doing the work, couldn’t sign his card (and no one expected him to use his own). Again, an inflexible policy by a big company was working to the company’s detriment.

As things worked out, it was a good thing the credit was extended and the deposit rejected.

Home Depot did not get to the house when they said to measure the kitchen for new tile and cabinets. The drawings - also late — did not accurately reflect the size of the room, the cabinet space available, and somehow the cost of the cabinets went from $3,500 to almost double the amount quoted.

Myron was living in my parents’ empty house as he worked. He coordinated what other workmen did - electricians, tilers, plumbers, etc. We were totally remodeling the entire house. During that process, he heard about four guys who had just started a new business and were very much in demand. The tile guy told him “Every time I do someone’s house, it seems these guys are doing the design, planning, and implementation. Everyone seems to be very happy with them.”

Using computer software they had themselves designed, within forty minutes this small company had the total layout of the kitchen to be remodeled done. They were able to get the cabinets for $3,500. They saved my brother quite a bit of money in other areas of the house, too. Myron says it looks gorgeous!

Big companies - banks or home repair, in this example - just don’t seem to get it. They want customers to fit into their organizational structure, rather than adapting their businesses to fit customer needs. In the good old days, it was pounded into our heads: “The Customer is Always Right.”

The problem in doing business with large companies is their inability to proactively adapt business policies to customer needs. Organizational structure requiring restrictive policies is a major problem for all big companies.

The bigger they are, the greater their inability to adapt business policies to customer needs.

As Adam Smith, the father of capitalism once said: When a company becomes so large it cannot react quickly to customer needs, such a company will eventually fail.

Goodbye, Home Depot.

Spyware and Adware, and How They Interact

The internet is like a petri dish in a biology lab. On average, every system gets “sniffed” by a port sniffing attack, or by an attempted infection by a malicious program roughly once every 10 to 15 seconds.

One of the most prevalent categories of malicious software (malware) is spyware, and its close cousin, adware. Both types of software will, optimally, install themselves on a user’s hard drive without the user being aware of their function, and without their permission. For most users, the first sign they’ve been hit by spyware is that their machine becomes less responsive. Spyware is usually tacked on to graphics, animations and links on web pages.

Most spyware is used ostensibly for “market research” - it tracks what web sites you hit, and what programs you use, and transmits it back to a vendor that tabulates the results. Some spyware is much more malicious than that, acting as a ferret for passwords and credit card information, or logging all keystrokes entered and transmitting it when network traffic is slow.

Adware is software that persistently displays ads, usually when a web site URL shows up in your browser’s web history. If you’ve ever had a situation where your computer has been inundated with pop up browser windows, you’ve been hit with adware. An earlier form of adware used the Windows Message functionality to open a port that let computer broadcast network messages that had to be clicked to close them.

Many sorts of adware work in conjunction with spyware, and the two get conflated a lot in terms of what they do. Indeed, some adware is only triggered when spyware indicates a subject of interest has come up. This is, normally, targeted advertising…if by targeting, the advertiser thinks in terms of “Make someone aware of my product by swearing to never, ever buy it.” Indeed, some advertisers have claimed that adware pushing their product was promulgated by corporate rivals!

There are several software suites out there that will sweep your computer for adware and spyware. The three most commonly used (because they’re free) are AVG-AntiSpyware, Ad Aware, and Spybot Search and Destroy. It’s recommended that you run all three of them, regularly - roughly once a week or so, to keep your system running in tip top shape. Failing to do this can force you to scrub your hard drive down and reinstall your operating system, which is never fun.

Someone Saved My Life Tonight

“A legacy to last a hundred years is made up of a series of right now moments”

You absolutely never know what it is that you say or do that will make a positive difference in the life of someone else. You can literally change lives just by showing recognition Please let me explain.

Ten or so years ago, I was presenting a course on human relations to a group of business people. While we were discussing the importance of showing recognition, and how to give genuine compliments, one of the class members, in a moment of absolute clarity said “I have gone my whole life simply taking from people, and never giving back. I take their compliments, I take their time, I take their energy and I even take their love, but I have never learned to say thank you. There are many people in my life who have made a significant positive impact on me, and I have never said thank you to any of them. I am afraid that, for me, it’s too late to discuss recognition.” The class as one objected to his comments and told him that it is never too late to say “thank you for your contribution to my life”.

From what I was hearing, I thought that we should try a little experiment in the fine art of giving thanks. So, I pitched an idea to them. “What if you were to think of someone in your life who has made a positive impact on you, and write them a letter as to why or how they did? What do you think the response will be?” They loved the idea, and embraced the project with open minds, never thinking that this project would potentially change the lives of a few of those people.

A few days later, I received a phone call from Susan, one of the participants, to tell me about what had happened to her. Here is her story:

After class, on her way home, she had dropped in to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription when she chanced to meet a good friend that she had had while in high school. This friend had been such an enthusiastic and caring person who always made everyone feel good, but this night, she looked like she really needed a friend. “Her eyes were so dark and withdrawn, and she looked like she had been crying for weeks.” Susan said. Seeing her in the pharmacy, Susan decided that this was going to be the person whom she would connect with, but, she said, she felt like she had to tell her right then and there, instead of waiting to write to her. Susan told her that of all of her friends that she had in high school, she was her favorite because she believed in her (Susan) and was always there for her when she needed her. Then she said “thank you for what you did for me.” The other woman, obviously taken off guard began to cry uncontrollably, and then ran out of the store.

At two o’clock in the morning, Susan’s phone devoured the silence with its insistent cry. Huskily answering the phone, thinking that any call at two in the morning can not be a social call, she spoke hesitatingly into the silence. “Hello?” she asked.

“Susan, it’s me. I am so sorry to call you like this, but I had to talk to you.” said the woman on the other end of the phone. “When you saw me tonight at the pharmacy, I had just picked up my prescription and I was planning on going home and taking them all. I didn’t want to go on any more and I wanted to end it. I even had a short letter written to tell my mother why I did it. You see, in the past little while, my husband left me and my kids all blame me for it, I lost my job and I just wanted the pain to stop. This was my solution. But you saved my life tonight. I didn’t think that there was anyone left in the world that would ever care if I was gone, but you showed me that there is, and I want to thank you so much.”

Now wide awake, Susan talked to her friend until seven the next morning, and still today, they are again the best of friends. One friend who wanted to just say thank you, and another one who wanted a reason to live. A life was saved because of a kind word of thanks.

What have you done to say thank you to the important people in your life? Have you called them, e-mailed them, spent time with them, listened to them, laughed with them, cried with them, or simply spent time with them? You know, it doesn’t take much energy to get up out of your chair and pick up the phone to call someone to thank them for their input on your life. It really doesn’t. But that very simple act could be the single most important thing that that person will ever hear. I challenge you, right now to call someone as soon as you read this and tell them what a difference they have made on your life. Will you deny them that privilege? It may not save their life, but I guarantee you this, not only will it improve theirs, but it will improve yours as well!

Make this your best week ever.

How To Deal With Headaches Behind The Eyes

Pain behind the eyes may be a symptom of different types of headaches and even other health problems. Most commonly people complain to have an extreme one-sided headache especially involving the area around or behind one eye. This is a typical description of cluster headache. Other symptoms associated with cluster headache are eye redness or tearing, smaller pupil on the affected side of the face and stuffy, runny nose.

Cluster headaches are very severe and last from 25 minutes to a couple of hours. They may recur several times a day for up to 8 weeks and than disappear for a few months or even years.

One of the most effective and safest treatments for cluster headaches is oxygen mask that raises levels of oxygen in the blood and as a result relaxes constricted blood vessels. If that does not help injections of sumatriphan and dihydroergotamine may provide relief from the headache behind the eyes.

Over-the-counter painkillers are not a good alternative for relieving pain as headaches often goes away before the pill starts working.

Both cluster headaches and migraines are considered vascular headaches and are linked to abnormal function of brain’s blood vessels due to hormonal chemical change in the brain. Since those two types of headaches are closely linked together, during migraines, headache may start in the area surrounding one or both eyes.

Migraine headache often begins with visual disturbance called “aura” (a person is seeing zigzag lines or flashing lights or have blurred vision). Later migraine is often accompanied with such symptoms as vomiting, fatigue, nausea, sensitivity to lights and loud sounds.

People suffering from cluster or migraine headaches should avoid use of alcohol and tobacco, certain foods, especially the ones containing nitrates (food coloring, processed meats, preservatives), bright and glaring light, stress and certain medications that lead to hormonal changes (oral contraceptives, estrogens).

Sometimes infection of the frontal sinuses can lead to a dull, throbbing pain between or behind the eyes. It tends to get worse in the mornings and is accompanied with frequent tearing, congestion, runny nose, fever and sensitivity to light. Diving in dirty water, airborne allergies, cold or flu may cause sinus headache.

To eliminate pain behind the eyes, you should reduce inflammation and sinus swelling. Inhaling steam and applying heat over affected area combined with Vitamin C and zinc intake will facilitate the mucus drainage and help to boost immune mechanism to reduce sinus headache.

Other factors that can be the main reason for the headaches behind the eyes are eyestrain and glaucoma. Eyestrain occurs if the eyes are forced to focus on a close object (a newspaper, computer screen) for a long period of time, without focusing periodically at distant objects or due to uncorrected vision problems.

Glaucoma is caused by increased pressure within the eyeball that requires immediate medical attention as it may lead to optic nerve damage and loss of sight. Nowadays glaucoma may be treated by prescription drugs or surgery.

Filled To Capacity

There is an old adage that says: “I bargained with life for a penny, and life would pay me no more…”

What are you willing to settle for? A penny? A nickel? A dime? A dollar? A million dollars? Or, is there something so much more important than money you would not sell it for any price?

Most of America’s entrepreneurs believe there is something more precious. It is called creativity. It is called the ability to positively impact your world. It is knowing you matter. It is the satisfaction of leaving the world a better place than you found it.

The most pressing obligation anyone has in life is to find his or her limits. The second most pressing obligation is to test those limits by going beyond them.

When we do not achieve what we are capable of, we are never really happy. We always feel like there was something we left undone.

People who do not understand this principle are the first ones to say “I tried, but it wasn’t in the cards.” Or, “Everyone else seems to be lucky… a little brown cloud follows me around and rains on my parade.”

Opportunity does present itself. The question is have you developed the capacity to be able to take advantage of it when it does?

Most people want opportunity to come before they prepare. It does not work that way. To be ready, we must know what we want and prepare to get it. We must know our limits - do what we can and must do today - but go beyond the limits and expand our horizons.

How many times have you heard someone say “If I only knew then what I know now”? Had they developed their capacity at the pace they were capable of, they would have known then what they know now.

The future holds for us those things for which we prepare ourselves today. People who do only those things required of them each day get stuck in a rut.

Knowledge is gained in much the same way as muscles when lifting weights. The person who starts lifting fifty pounds today reaches a level where that is no longer sufficient to increase muscle. Today’s exercise with fifty pounds will sustain gains made until today, but it will not add more muscle. Weight lifters who want to develop muscle must move on. They must lift 100 pounds, then 125, then 150.

The same is true of the quest for knowledge to the person who wants to succeed.

Before you can go beyond your limits, you must know what they are. That means learning your capacity to achieve. If you can lift 300 pounds but stop at 150 (because you started at 50 pounds, after all), you are operating at only 50 percent capacity.

Opportunity does present itself. The question is: Have you developed your capacity so you can take advantage of it when it does?

If people could be seen as containers, it would be easy to draw an analogy between them and their potential. No two people are alike. Each, like a snowflake, is unique. Each person has a different capacity to work, live, love, and be creative.

If people were containers, some would look like small juice glasses, holding four ounces. Others would look like eight-ounce water glasses. Some others might look like sixteen-ounce iced-tea glasses. Some might resemble half-gallon jugs.

The person born with the potential to hold eight ounces must fill that eight ounces of knowledge and achievement to reach their potential for productivity in life. When we reach our full potential, fulfillment follows. By the way, fulfillment - synonymous with achievement — should not be confused with gratification - synonymous with enjoyment.

People born with the potential to hold sixteen ounces must fill the full sixteen ounces to reach full potential, achieve success and become fulfilled.

The size of each person’s potential is not nearly as important as whether all of the potential is developed.

A person with a four ounce potential who develops all four ounces will be much happier, much more successful (and fulfilled) than the individual with a sixteen ounce potential who develops only half of it.

The four-ounce person has lived up to his or her full potential. The sixteen-ounce person who developed only eight ounces is only halfway there. No one in the world may know which people have a sixteen-ounce capacity, but the sixteen-ounce person knows. Each of us knows if we achieve at capacity. Happiness and fulfillment eludes those who do not use their capacity to live.

There is always a feeling of “I feel like I could have done something more.” Too, we need to remember that the greater the capacity to succeed, the greater the capacity to fail.

Too often success is viewed as accomplishing an objective rather than achieving our potential. People who achieve only a portion of their capacities are usually frustrated. They know their potential even if they deny themselves the fulfillment of achieving it.

People often refuse to develop the discipline required to reach capacity. In short, they are lazy. Or their security drive kicks in and they don’t want to rock a boat by showing leadership qualities. There are many reasons to seek gratification - a happiness of the moment - rather than fulfillment - the satisfaction of achievement at full capacity.

An unhealthy need to be secure is probably the biggest reason most people make so little effort to find their limits… to happily push themselves forward. It takes commitment, discipline, and a continuous, lifelong learning curve.

Nothing stands still in nature. If we do not move forward, we move back.

That’s one of the reasons it is so important to be informed about both sides of all issues. Many people just want to hear the conservative or the liberal side of political issues, for example. If we never hear the logic behind the other side’s position, we do not grow.

I have often said that I learn little from talking with people who believe as I do. I learn from people who disagree with me. Either I expand my beliefs or become more firmly set in them… depending on the quality of logic in the discussion.

Those who study such things say Leonardo da Vinci was the most productive human being to ever live. Yet, on his deathbed, he wept and told the King of France (who attended him at his death) that his greatest sin was in not utilizing all of the talents and energies God had given him.

Leonardo obviously had a gallon capacity and filled it. Even so, when he died he could see moments when he took the night off when he could have been working.

What is your limit… or, capacity? Have you disciplined yourself to develop all of it? Or, have you settled for less than you are capable of achieving? Are you striking a good bargain with life? Or, a bad one?

We all define success differently. To me, it is not defined as accomplishing “things” or earning large amounts of money. There is little doubt money makes the fulfillment of achievement more enjoyable. There is little doubt that money gained without achievement gains only momentary gratification that may be replaced tomorrow with disillusion and disappointment.

I feel sorry for most people who inherit fortunes. They will never know their capabilities because they will never be tested. I think they must always wonder: “If I hadn’t inherited all this money, would I have been capable of achieving at the level made available to me because my family has money?” They will always doubt themselves and their own worth. If they have a grain of humility they should, anyway.

Through achievement comes purpose. Without purpose and some degree of fulfillment of it, I think success has no meaning… it does not exist.

There are dangers we face along the way. Perhaps the greatest one comes after we attain a modicum of success. The more comfortable our lifestyles, the more difficult it is to force ourselves to continue to learn.

We are told to be meek and we shall inherit the earth. I have pondered the meaning of meekness and decided it means keeping an open mind. Many successful people comment about how they were tempted to pride, thinking they knew more than they really did. They were tempted to stop learning.

“It was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done” people say of continuing to challenge themselves after “filling their glass” to capacity. “I was tempted to think I knew it all.”

What successful people learn is that to maintain their status they must keep finding their limits, keep going beyond them. To do so, they must keep an open mind. They understand those limits must be found in many areas, not just those that put bucks in a bank account. They seek balance in the physical and worldly, the spiritual, the mental and the emotional.

It is impossible within the span of one lifetime to find our limits in all of these areas. One never needs to worry about running out of limits to seek and surpass.

Cheap Discount Plane Tickets and Travel Packages Online - A Great Deal

An online travel agency is a good place to get a great cheap deal on a plane ticket and even better deals on a vacation package. You get a good deal because the online agency buys seats at discount from the airline, then the agency offers a discount to you. They will sell ticket in advance at a cheaper price, the price will rise closer to departure date, and then fall again right before the flight date if they have not sold all the tickets. The key is to get the timing right and sometimes be flexible.

Combining your plane tickets, hotel and even rental car into one package will save you even more money. The travel agency buys up hotel rooms, and even car rental at discount and then send that savings on to you. You will get the combined package for less and you can do your shopping at one site.

Auction type-sites will allow you to name a price for flights and hotels for the lowest deals. You need to be flexible because you may not know the exact carrier, flight, or connections, or the exact hotel. But you are guaranteed to get to your destination and will stay in the area you want and in the type of hotel you want. Just select the area (for example: the loop in Chicago) and the type of hotel (4 stars). And that is what you will get at a price you are willing to pay.

Online travel agencies also offer specials that you can take advantage of. There are weekend specials, cruise specials, and destination specials. Last minute deals are often very discounted if you can be flexible, great for those planned or not so planned spontaneous vacations.

Take time to do comparison-shopping online. Use the general rules and search every few days to get the best, discounted price. I think if you utilize all of this information and take the time to search you will find the best price for your vacation package and be happy with your search. Have a good trip!
