1.-Personality: How do you add “personality” to your ezine? Why not let them know what’s happening in your life or your business? The details about the last sale you made? A funny story about your office or a lesson learned. Consider including pictures of you and your staff, this makes people realize you are a real person.

2.-Personal: We like to be addressed personally. If you can add their first name to the subject line or the header of the email, subscribers will be more responsive. We all like to be called by our name. Think about the last time you were out shopping and someone yelled your name. Did you ears perk up? Did you turn around and look for the person calling your name?

3.-Curiosity: Curiosity is best used in the subject line of an email. If you know what your audience is struggling with this will be easier for you. Some of my marketing “curiosity” examples include: “The easiest way to get referrals.” “How to create raving fans,” “Stimulate word of month now,” “How to not be a ___ victim.”

4.-Excitement: Many of us marketers use the term, “WIIFM,” meaning that they are tuned into the “What’s In It For Me” radio show. Give them something that is better than “since sliced bread.” You know what it’s like when a friend that has just seen an amazing film. They can’t seem to contain themselves. Try to incorporate this feeling of excitement in your emails. Get them excited and experience your excitement with you.

5.-Urgency: Give them a reason to act now or it won’t be read. Let people know that they need to get involved now or they may miss their opportunity. You can do this by having a special event, contest or surprise bonus to the first few responders.

6.-Clarity: Have clear instructions on the actions you want your visitors to take. Whether it’s to call you, answer a question or go to your website, please make all action steps clear and concise by telling them the exact experience. For example, “Please click on the link to my website. Once you arrive, please type your first name and primary email address in the red box. You will soon receive my special report in your inbox.

7.-Consistency: People choose to read an email based on the “From” line vs “Subject” line. Be sure to have a consistent from line so you are not confusing your subscribers. If you send a special offer, please ensure that it has the same “from” line and is not discarded because they don’t recognize you.

Last year a 15 member commission was created by the US Chamber of Commerce to evaluate the effects of litigation & regulation on the US capital market. Tom Donohue, the CEO of the Chamber, is a powerful business lobbyist that has become critical of the implementation of Sarbanes Oxley (SarBox) especially section 404 which covers the assessment of internal controls.

The question remains: Is the litigious US business environment driving away foreign investment in US public companies? Has the SarBox section 404 caused these declines and how could it be changed to build confidence but retain assurance of the efficiency of internal controls?

Despite the criticisms in the report, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Christopher Cox has responded with an acknowledgement of the difficulties of SarBox but an emphasis on the new changes. The Complete Act of 2007 recommends a limitation of section 404 that only requires the internal control audit on a three year basis. Another change proposed attempts to reduce the costs of these 404 audits for smaller companies by making them voluntary. There is also a movement to rely more heavily on the internal audit function for an assessment of lower risk internal controls.

By changing the rules for implementation the SEC feels that it would appropriately mitigate the costs to firms for their audit AND reduce their exposure to unwarranted securities fraud lawsuits. This is important to keeping the confidence of foreign and domestic investors but also to the public companies that must adhere to these strict regulations. It will continue to be a concern for foreign companies wanting to enter into the US capital market. The SEC’s ultimate response will have a significant impact on the future of US public investment.

You buy their e-book for $30, 40 or $50 and there is no real method on how they actually did it. They give a couple of good suggestion but nothing real. Find the sites or forums that show you the correct way of marketing a site, look for e-books that cost $4-$7 this way you are spending a minimal amount of money.

There are mentors and coaches that specialize in building websites and the marketing training to teach you what to do to get traffic to your site. There are many different work at home online which are scams so when searching be careful when choosing the program. Make your own dream job, use your mind and think up a new business.

If you have not discovered it yet, you will soon discover that the costs of sending your son or daughter to college have skyrocketed in recent years. The charges being assessed for housing would lead you to believe that the dorm includes servants and room service, and the cost of textbooks would make you think that they are getting original autographed copies. Yes, the cost of college is probably greater than the gross national product of some third world countries, and no matter how carefully you analyze the costs so that you can budget for it, it is virtually guaranteed that your estimates are going to fall far short.

Hopefully you have not encouraged your son or daughter to not consider college. A college education is a necessity in today’s cruel hard world, and not having a college education almost guarantees a struggle through life. Life is hard enough as it is, why complicate matters? For economic reasons, you may have encouraged your son or daughter to seriously consider a local community college instead of the brand-name state university. But I would urge you to reconsider that suggestion, since you of course want to be able to give your son or daughter every possible advantage that they could have, and the education that they get at the four-year state university or brand name college is almost certainly going to better than the local community college. You are saying fine, but how can I afford it?

The overall total cost of sending your son or daughter to the college that provides the BEST education for them should not be the deciding factor. The reason I say this is because there is a truckload of college scholarships and grants available that your son or daughter CAN qualify for. Maybe some of these are only a couple hundred bucks where others will cover the costs of the whole enchilada. There is not any kind of quota or limit on the number of scholarships that your son or daughter can apply for and be awarded. It is important to note that while you can almost certainly qualify for a student loan for your child, a student loan needs to be paid back after graduation, whereas a college scholarship or college grant does NOT need to be paid back. This is a tremendous difference.

As you research the availability of college scholarships and college grants, be fully aware that like most things, there are scams out there. You should never be required to pay a fee simply to find out if you qualify for a particular scholarship. While it happens, this requirement is rare and should be avoided, or at least looked at very carefully. And despite popular beliefs and myths, college scholarships and college grants are not only awarded to the top football player, the star soccer player, the musical genius, etc. Nor is award determination based solely on financial need as it was in years past. A majority of scholarships simply require the student to apply for them!

There are tons of college scholarships and college grants available, all of them totaling well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. One of the almost ludicrous facts about this is that a large number of these scholarships and grants do not get awarded each year simply because nobody applied for them! These scholarships and grants are given by corporations who take it as a tax write-off, and if the scholarship does not get awarded, then they do not get the tax write-off. The best thing you can do to manage the costs of college is to apply for as many scholarships as you can find, and then do some more!

Last Friday, an article of mine appeared on what has been referred to as the most popular website on the Internet, WorldNetDaily. This site gets over 5 MILLION visitors each month. Unimaginable!

I was blessed and encouraged by the many emails I received from complete strangers, individuals who are NOT regular recipients of my online ministry broadcasts. In my message, one that I entitled, “It’s a Mahdi, Mahdi, Mahdi, Mahdi World!,” I wrote the phrase, “…the bloodiest wars ever fought involved Christians and Muslims.” What I was NOT prepared for were the venomous messages I received that zeroed-in on that one phrase.

It hit a nerve.

It offended.

I had no idea!

The problem? In each case, the respondent made the point that the Crusades were NOT wars between Christians and Muslims but wars between the CATHOLIC Church and Muslims. Well, although I did my best to write a concise 750-word article (in comparison to my usual 2700-Word PLUS offerings) and, therefore, could not cover everything as I would have liked, the truth is that the Crusades WERE actually the wars of Popes who empowered various groups (e.g. The Knights Templar) who engaged various Muslim leaders, notably Saladin, on a number of occasions.

Yes, these readers were correct: the Crusades WERE wars between the Roman Catholic Church and the Islamic world. Much like the Catholic Inquisition which followed in Spain and other parts of Europe, these were actions that were rejected by non-Catholic Christians and even later “protested” by the likes of Martin Luther and others, the beginnings of the Protestant reformation.

That’s it for the history lesson. That’s not my point of concern here. I have heard it said that Islam had a long memory and that the Crusades will never be forgotten. A few days after the unprovoked attack of September 11, 2001, speaking spontaneously, without the aid of advisers or speechwriters, George “Dubya” dubbed our righteous cause as “This crusade…this war on terrorism.”

He used the “C” word. Ouch! In his defense, it was an offhand reference. His embarrassed aides tried covering for their boss, suggesting that he had meant to use the word only as a synonym for ’struggle.’ But even offhandedly, Bush had said exactly what he meant.

Nearly a thousand years earlier, the Catholic pope rallied leaders and commoners alike with a rousing call to a Christian-style “jihad” - to steal a term from the Islamic terrorist playbook; a holy war. From the Christian perspective, Muslims were the infidels who had taken the Holy Land hundreds of years before. Their occupation was defined as the ultimate and intolerable blasphemy. The Holy Land had to be reclaimed for Christ. Within months of the pope’s call, 100,000 people had “taken the cross” to reclaim the Holy Land for Christ. For perspective, a comparable movement today would involve more than a million people, all dropping everything to go to war.

In the name of Jesus, convinced they were doing God’s bidding, Crusaders used “shock and awe” tactics everywhere they went. In Jerusalem, they savagely slaughtered Muslims and Jews alike and practically wiped-out the whole town. They decapitated their Muslim enemies and used their heads as fodder for their catapults. Eventually, Latin Crusaders would turn on Eastern Christians, and then on Christian heretics, as blood lust outran the “holiness” of their initial call-to-arms.

Have Muslims been carrying a grudge all these years? You bet your pretty red fez they have!

Have Protestant Christians been holding a similar grudge against the Roman Catholic Church? It appears that some of us have.

Whatever you may personally feel for Catholics, the pope, the Catholic Church in general, speaking as a former Catholic, I can honestly report that many Catholics really do love Jesus - proportionately, probably about the same ratio as the Baptists, Presbyterians or any other mainline Protestant group. Others are merely clueless church-goers at best, just like their Protestant counterparts. Many Catholics have Abrahamic faith. I’m in agreement with Max Lucado who said that he learned his reverence for God from his Catholic friends. Ditto.

THE RECONCILIATION WALK

Though the Crusades had nothing to do with anyone living today and nothing to do with any Christians except the Catholics, the Crusaders corporately represented the Body of Christ while sowing enmity among Jews, Eastern Christians and Muslims. Today, only we, as the unified Body of Christ, can act according to Scripture to reconcile that enmity. Scripture instructs us to make sure that no root of bitterness is allowed to defile others; it commands us to live at peace with all men.

Jesus teaches us to seek reconciliation with anyone who has anything against us. Thanks to the Crusades, entire nations hold something not only against US, but against Jesus Himself.

In a January 23, 2007 WorldNetDaily article by Jim Rutz, he wrote: “…did the liberal media tell you about the Reconciliation Walk? From 1996-1999, teams of Christians trekked along the same route that the Crusaders did 900 years before - from Cologne, Germany, to Jerusalem. About 2,000 marchers, cycling in and out, visited Muslim and Jewish villages and cities. And as they went, they wore T-shirts proclaiming in Arabic or Hebrew, “I apologize” and called out, “We’re sorry.” Astonished Muslims poured out of their homes and into the streets, many of them applauding and cheering wildly, some of them weeping. The marchers were hugged warmly and invited in for dinner. City mayors welcomed them with heartfelt, emotional speeches. That beats bullets six ways to Sunday…”

The heart of the Reconciliation Walk is the statement carried by the walkers throughout the Middle East. Translated into local languages, it expresses the remorse and optimism of Christians everywhere. Well…some of us anyway. It reads:

“Nine hundred years ago, our forefathers carried the name of Jesus Christ in battle across the Middle East. Fueled by fear, greed and hatred, they betrayed the name of Christ by conducting themselves in a manner contrary to His wishes and character. The Crusaders lifted the banner of the Cross above your people. By this act they corrupted its true meaning of reconciliation, forgiveness and selfless love.

“On the anniversary of the first Crusade we also carry the name of Christ. We wish to retrace the footsteps of the Crusaders in apology for their deeds and in demonstration of the true meaning of the Cross. We deeply regret the atrocities committed in the name of Christ by our predecessors. We renounce greed, hatred and fear, and condemn all violence done in the name of Jesus Christ.

“Where they were motivated by hatred and prejudice, we offer love and brotherhood. Jesus the Messiah came to give life. Forgive us for allowing His name to be associated with death. Please accept again the true meaning of the Messiah’s words: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor”.

Today, as I write this article, it just “happens” to be the 4th Anniversary of the war in Iraq. I’ll always remember the night we initiated the war. I had just crawled into bed and the Lord said to me, “Osama doesn’t know his Redeemer.” I knew instantly that I was to pray for the man. My flesh cried out, “No way! I’m an American!” Before I knew it, I was sliding out of bed to my knees and prayed as fervently for our mutual enemy as I’ve ever prayed for anyone in my life.” And I’ve prayed for him since then as well.

Jesus told us to love and pray for our enemies ( Matt 5:44; Luke 5:27 & 35). He exemplified it.

His Spirit dwells within us.

You can do it.

We must ALL do it.
