Pornography is a multi billion dollar industry. There is a constant production of lewd movies, images & sex tools because there is so much worldwide demand for it. The advancement of internet technology allows pornographic streaming videos to be downloaded quickly from the internet onto computers & hand held devices.

Pornography is considered as Adult entertainment & deemed normal by liberal minded people. However, child pornography is illegal & scorned. All actors in a pornography production must be over the legal age of 18 years old. Also, people below 18 years of age are not allowed (albeit minimally enforced) to view pornography both online & in the real world.

Could the ease of exposure to internet pornography contribute to young children becoming sexually active? Recent statistics shows that 9 out of 10 children between the age of 8 and 16 actually visit pornographic sites over the internet. There have also been stories of children engaging in co-ed sex parties & orgies. It suggests that internet pornography is playing a part in building sexual curiosity in children at such an early age. Is it what we want for our children? Small children are human beings too and can also be naturally aroused sexually. However, children are more susceptible to misunderstand the complexities associated with performing sexual activities like pregnancy & sexually transmitted diseases (S.T.D.).

It is in reality not the problem of children actually visiting pornographic websites but instead lies in the issue of them being accidentally directed to such “adult” websites. A recent survey done by the University of Hampshire achieved similar results. “66 percent said that they did not want to view the images & had not sought them out”, said the researcher.

A pornographic website may even be only a mouse click away. Banners, links, spam emails & other forms of online marketing are being misused as tools to lure even the most innocent of internet users. There are ways to prohibit pornographic content from being displayed even in the event of an accidental mouse click.

Commercial softwares termed Parental Control Softwares like Cyber Sentinel, Cyber Snoop, ishield, Net Nanny 5, & Optenet are able to filter images & advertisements of pornographic nature. It can help in such a way to prevent our children from being led into pornographic websites.

However, parental control softwares are still unable to fully prevent online pornography from being presented to our children online. More & better measures are required to restrict the use of sophisticated methods of online pornography marketing.

Therefore, parents should play an active role in educating their children about the consequences of viewing internet pornography. We should inform our children & show them about what they can & should not do on the internet. Also, inform them to question their actions before clicking on seductive advertisements which may lead them to the illicit pornographic websites.

LASIK - What Can It Actually Correct

LASIK is an acronym for Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis. It has become enormously popular, because it’s:
·-Painless
·-Quick, and
·-Effective.

What is LASIK?

It’s a type of eye surgery in which an extremely precise laser is used to modify the corneal surface so as to remove irregularities that have impaired your vision. The cornea is the front part of the eyeball, the white part around the iris.

·-Near-sightedness (myopia)
·-Far-sightedness (hyperopia)
·-Astigmatism

It does not correct presbyopia, that need for reading glasses that overtakes all of us once we reach the age of 40 or 50. That’s because presbyopia treatments must deal with the stiffening lens and weakening eye muscles, rather than just modifying the corneal surface.

20/20 vision

This term refers to “normal vision” and we’ve all heard the phrase, but what does it mean exactly?
It’s a standard of visual acuity which eye doctors have arrived at over the decades, from looking at tens of thousands of pairs of eyes. The “normal” person standing 20 ft. from the eye chart will see all the lines of letters clearly. This is the visual acuity of the majority of people. (In countries that use metric measurements, the distance is 6 meters, so it’s referred to as 6/6 vision.)

Examples

·-If you stand 20 ft. from the chart but can only see what a “normal” person can see from 60ft. away, you have 20/60 vision. If the normal person walks away to 100ft., he can’t see the chart as clearly, but if you see it that way standing at 20ft., you have 20/100 vision.

·-The higher that second number is, the more myopic you are. If you have 20/200 vision, you’re classified as legally blind in the U.S.

·-On the other hand, if the “normal” person has to get up close, say 10ft. from the chart to see what you can see at 20ft., then you have superior 20/10 vision.

Correcting Myopia

When we’re myopic, we have corneas that are too steep. That means the light rays entering our eyes are refracted too sharply, and they come to a focus in front of the retina instead of on it. So we see a blurry image.

LASIK correction

The laser vaporizes tiny amounts of corneal tissue such that the cornea is made less steep. Then the light rays will focus on your retina and you’ll see clearly.

Correcting Hyperopia

In hyperopic vision, the cornea is too flat. So the light rays are refracted too little and come to a focus behind the retina. So again we see a blurry image.

LASIK correction

The laser vaporizes tiny pieces of corneal tissue such that the cornea is made more flat and the light rays can focus on the retina to give sharp vision.

Correcting Astigmatism

Astigmatism consists of small irregularities on the corneal surface, such that vision is uneven and has blurry areas.
LASIK correction

The laser vaporizes tiny bits of corneal tissue such that irregularities are smoothed out and light rays can refract evenly towards the retina. That gives you clear eyesight.

Choose your LASIK eye surgeon carefully

Not all of us are good candidates for LASIK treatment. A thorough eye exam must be done to discover whether you’re a good candidate and not all eye surgery facilities want to take the time. Avoid those facilities that advertise low prices and try to process large numbers of patients, giving them little time and inferior service.

Choose an eye surgeon who’ll take time with you, answer all your questions, do a careful job with the best available technology, and follow up with you personally

An Office Hierarchy Guideline

Dictator, Imperial or democratic are different types of administration for many different countries in the world. All of them have one thing in common. There is always one person at the top. The difference lies in how the delegation of power is distributed & the structure of its hierarchy.

The above analogy can be applied to an office environment. There is the main boss, principal or Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.), the upper management, lower management, & the normal workers. Different companies may have different management styles as the above example.

However, the hierarchy of position still remains as we know who everybody is because of the chain of command in an office environment. Basically we can adhere to a guideline to help us maintain a feasible working relationship with our office subordinates, peers, office superiors & bosses.

–The number one rule we should know is how to avoid offending the boss. Remember that an office hierarchy is traditionally not flat. It is shaped like a pyramid with one point at the top. Offending anybody from any of the levels above your level will ensure that you stay where you are or even demoted to a lower level.

–A good trait we should develop is leadership communication skills for succession. Practice good public speaking, leadership skills, & set an example to co-workers as they may look up to you one day in the future.

–Never forget your status in the office. Act appropriately to other people according to their position in the office. You can act superior to people at lower rank than your position but you should act humble to those above your rank.

–The hierarchy must be understood & respected. Find out what type of management structure the office practices. Is the boss very social with the workers or prefer the office to be managed by another person? Who is your direct superior? Do not bypass your direct superior over office matters unless instructed by a higher ranking boss.

–The position must be respected even though you do not respect the person. Perhaps you know of a person’s lifestyle preference outside of the office. The person may not deserve your respect outside of the office but a person’s position in the office hierarchy must remain respected to maintain a good & conducive working environment.

–Understand the upwards & downwards communication in the office hierarchy. Practice good interpersonal communication skills with as many people in different rank levels of the office hierarchy. It can increase your chances of being a favorable candidate for a promotion. Also, it should help you maintain good office relationships.

Apply it well to your career and you can be on a path to a higher rank up the traditional office hierarchy pyramid instead of being stagnant, demoted or shown the early exit door.

This article could just as easily have been entitled “Everybody’s talkin’ at me, I don’t hear a word they’re sayin’,” but that was already taken. So I’ll stick with “Cutting Out the Cacophony.”

As digital signage technology enters its next phase as a hybrid, interactive medium combining the power of linear content with branching interactive functionality, volume is likely to rise, literally. Hybrid systems increasingly will find their way into places like retail stores and museums where multiple displays are spaced in close proximity to one another and the sound from competing signs becomes bothersome.

Imagine a natural history museum with multiple interactive digital signs spaced a few feet apart. One focuses on carnivorous dinosaurs, another on herbivores and a third on pre-historic fish. If all of these digital signs have accompanying audio playback that loops during their presentations or plays back specific clips when accessed interactively, the result will be a cacophony of competing sound that actually drive visitors away rather than accomplishing the goal of imparting knowledge.

Imagine a similar scenario in a retail store, where audio from a cosmetic counter digital sign is competing with audio from the fragrance counter digital sign and the handbag counter digital sign across the aisle. Shoppers would quickly give up on watching the promotional video or finding their desired information they’re seeking if they were immersed in this distasteful audio soup. Who could blame them for walking away in disgust without making their purchase? Not exactly the goal of digital signage technology.

Fortunately, technology exists in the form of proximity sensors that can be interfaced with digital signage playback servers to determine when someone is near a digital sign. Upon receiving notification from the sensor, the digital signage player can ramp up the audio level. Similarly, when visitors leave, it can inform the player to turn down the sound level so that device’s audio source does not compete with audio from adjacent digital signage displays.

Based on infrared detection, sonar or radar technology, these sensors typically use standard RS-232 or RS-422 serial communications ports to interface to the digital playback server. If the playback server recognizes input from the sensors, competing audio problems can evaporate.

One example of where these sensors came in handy is the new University of Tennessee Football Hall of Fame. The university recently replaced several DVD-based kiosks that looped video and audio content continuously. Creating a cacophony of kiosk audio, the stations became such a distraction that the school’s coaches finally turned them off to escape the audio mess.

However, the university recently replaced the hall of fame’s old kiosks with new interactive digital signage stations that recognize input from strategically placed proximity sensors. With that source of data, the digital signage playback servers can increase volume or shut off audio depending on whether or not someone is standing within range.

Not only did the new approach create a pleasing audio experience, it more importantly allowed the school’s football coaching staff to once again use the hall of fame as a useful tool in recruiting new athletes and soliciting contributions from program boosters.

Certainly, competing audio sources won’t affect all digital signs, but when they do it’s good to know there’s a technology that can come to the rescue. Without proximity sensors, it would be easy to feel like “everybody’s talkin’ at me, I don’t hear a word they’re sayin’.”

Central Florida is a fantastic place to get married. It’s no surprise why people from around the world come to Central Florida to enjoy our world-class attractions and beaches. It truly is a children’s paradise, not to mention it’s a honeymooner’s dream.

Brides adore Central Florida and find it the perfect place for their dream wedding. Here are 5 reasons why brides choose Central Florida for the location of their dream wedding:

1. Location, location, location

Oops! Did I say that three times? Well, it is only the first reason, but the primary one at that. Central Florida’s Orlando international airport is easy to get in and out of. Kids can even navigate through it due to its ease, signage, and accessibility.

Brides love Central Florida because after their wedding, they can immediately begin their honeymoon. There is something to be said about being married and honeymooning in the same place. After countless months of planning and preparing for a wedding, the last thing a bride wants to do is endure a long plane flight to her honeymoon destination.

2. Countless options for a theme wedding.

As our lifestyles become more modern and contemporary, so do our weddings. Many people are getting bored with the same old, traditional style wedding. Central Florida provides many lovely venues, theme parks, and resorts at attractions to choose from.

Whether you want a culturally sensitive wedding, elegant serene ceremony, or unconventional ceremony with a touch of adventure - Central Florida has it all.

3. Outstanding weather all year.

Central Florida has terrific weather all year that can accommodate any bride’s dream wedding. Forget and leave the snow behind. You can get married in Florida any time.

Timing is crucial for many who work and must manage their vacation time. A weekend wedding in Florida can be done at any time and not be a burden.

4. Reasonably priced and affordable.

Thankfully, Central Florida is a very well priced place compared to the rest of the country. A bride working within a budget, can do a dream wedding for a reasonable amount of money and still have a lot left over to enjoy her honeymoon.

5. Flexible wedding ministers to officiate your ceremony.

Unlike many traditional ministers who are bound to their respective denominations, Central Florida is a place where ministers break the mold and accommodate brides. A dream wedding must be one that is personalized the whole way through, that includes the ceremony and how it is officiated.

Beyond a personal touch and being official, the ideal wedding minister will work creatively with the bride and groom to incorporate their personality throughout the ceremony. This can be done through the ceremony format and structure, what text will be read, and the length of the ceremony.

Consider those 5 fabulous features for a Central Florida wedding, when you are ready to tie the knot.

In Defense Of Notre Dame

On his June 14th entry to his blog entitled “Catholic Spotted at University of Notre Dame,” Tito wrote a satirical piece about how his friend, Bill, Director of Young Adult Ministry for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, could not find one loyal Catholic at the University of Notre Dame and thus he could no longer cheer for the Fighting Irish. While I am not immune to humor (in fact, some have criticized my saint-of-the-day blogs as too silly), one cannot readily laugh at mean-spirited or factually misleading “Catholic” treatises. Does one not get offended when hearing “pedophile-priest” or “Pope Benedict Nazi” jokes? Well, despite the misadventures of Father McBrien, anti-Notre Dame raves are not much different.

Truly, the University of Notre Dame is emblematic of American Catholicism as a whole, with a handful of saints and scoundrels at either end of the spectrum and a wide range of devotion in between. But unlike many Catholic places of higher learning, Notre Dame (once dubbed “The City of the Blessed Sacrament”) has scores of church, crypt and dorm Masses going on literally around the clock, as well as a bona-fide Marian shrine, the grotto. Thus, to say all those who attend daily Mass under the Dome, or every soul who makes a regular pilgrimage to the grotto is not a devout Catholic is certainly ridiculous, if not sacrilegious. And, in the latter grotto group, count Irish head football coach Charlie Weis. After his grueling sixteen-hour work days, coach makes his slow nightly walk to the shrine, where he prays not so much for his football team as his family, especially his autistic daughter Hannah.

And so, instead of taking easy pot shots at the hot shot Notre Dame media beasts and priests, let’s try another approach. We can keep the strong core of committed Catholics, as well as root out the radical rascals, by simply praying for Our Lady’s university-and rooting for her team.

What’s that you say? Well, in the 30s and 40s, coaches such as Michigan’s Fritz Chrysler, refused to play Notre Dame, saying its national Catholic fan and recruiting base gave Notre Dame an unfair advantage. Not only do I agree with Chryler’s Old Notre Dame critique, I’ll go one step further by saying that when those thousands of rosary prayers used to pour in every Saturday to aid the Irish gridiron performance, I think Our Lady (the team’s #1 fan) was wise (and merciful) enough to save some of those Aves for the University’s other needs too.

And, speaking of wisdom, Coach Weis, besides being an offensive coaching genius, now not only has his players raise their helmets in praise of Mary at the end of each game, but also has his charges singing the “Notre Dame Our Mother” song to honor her after every contest, win or lose. So cheer up Tito (ND prayer is already having its effect), and once again Cheer, Cheer for ol’ Notre Dame!

Thomas Augustine O’Toole was born in Chicago and after attending Catholic grammar and high school, he was accepted into the University of Notre Dame. Tom majored in English, but also made the Irish varsity tennis team as a walk-on (a feat statistically rarer than Rudy’s) and was also the sports editor of Notre Dame’s Scholastic magazine, where his story “Reflections on the Game” won the award for Best Sports Feature for the Indiana Collegiate Press Association.

Tom’s innovative writings on the connection between faith and sports (”Cathletics”) has been praised by the Papal Nuncio, and his groundbreaking book Champions of Faith: Catholic Sports Heroes Tell Their Stories is one of the original volumes to be placed on the shelves of the recently formed Office of Church and Sport located in the Vatican. In 2006, Tom published a number of articles on the prestigious Catholic Exchange website, and started his blog Fighting Irish Thomas which has been praised for its Catholic candor and humor.

It’s been an exciting nine months awaiting the arrival of your very first bundle of joy. The baby shower; the gifts; the Lemaze training; the hospital tour; and even setting-up the nursery have all contributed to the overwhelming joy and anticipation. And, you even survived the second most painful part of the whole process, picking out that perfect name.

So, now that you’re finally home with this new addition you helped to create, you wonder, “What do I do now?” Well, it’s certainly not the time to panic. You’ve had lots of time to get used to the idea, helpful on-hands training and tips from the hospital staff, along with tons of unsolicited testimonials and advice from family members and friends.

But, this is different. A week ago you were on information overload. But now, you’re dealing with a million ‘what ifs’. What should I do if it cries? What should I do if it doesn’t eat enough? How much is enough? What should I do if it gets sick? How will I know if it’s sick? Is it just gas or is it colic? Should I let anyone else hold it? What if, what if, what if?

To be sure, having a baby is one the most life-changing experiences there are. And, not all those changes will be easy to cope with. It’s a scenario played over and over, countless times as the process of becoming a parent suddenly becomes very real. Fortunately, most of the anxiety quickly dissipates under an avalanche of newly acquired parental duties. Anxiety will fade with experience, as confidence steadily erases fear.

There are lots of cliches I could recite, but I’ll avoid the temptation, however I would like to recommend you visit two content websites Baby and Babies and Toddlers for an important collection of vital tips and feature articles, that will surely be helpful to any new parent.

Relaxing in a hammock can easily melt away the stresses of everyday life. Just you, swinging away in your own little private nature retreat with a book and cold beverage nearby. In the background you can hear the sounds of birds chirping or perhaps that new garden fountain you just installed. It sounds enticing; doesn’t it?

So you walk out to your new hammock with that book and beverage in hand, but stop few feet short when the thought hits you “How in the world am I going to get into that thing without breaking my neck?”

There are some simple principles, which if you follow, will make getting in to and out your hammock much less threatening. For starters, if you have a drink set that down on a nearby table. Some hammocks have accessories such as side tables and drink holders. Basically, you want to put it somewhere that you will be able to comfortably reach it, i.e. not the on the ground.

Hopefully you are sitting in a quality hammock that is forgiving to user error. In general, spreader bars make getting in and out of your hammock a little bit easier. Nonetheless, whichever style you have, the technique is still the same.

Sit on one edge and allow the hammock to hold your weight. The far edge will raise up as the edge you are sitting on will sink and swing low. When the far edge is up over your shoulders, allow your full body weight to slowly transition to the hammock as you swing your legs gently up into position. Rotate from the hips and lean back so your whole body will end up on the hammock. Take a deep breath of relief. Reach over and have a sip of your beverage, you deserve it.

Let’s review the four easy steps:

  1. Sit squarely on the edge of the hammock
  2. Allow your weight to sink into the hammock. The opposite edge will begin to rise.
  3. Rotating from the hips, swing your legs up into position as your torso leans back.
  4. Relax and Enjoy

To get out of the hammock, do exactly the same thing in reverse. Slide your legs off the edge and rotate your body from the hips. You should have both feet firmly on the ground so you can easily stand up.

After a few attempts, getting in and out of your hammock will become a breeze. After all, if Homer Simpson can do it, so can you!

We start to realize how untidy & disorganized our home becomes when there is no daily cleaning maintenance. Some of us may have not have maids to keep our home constantly clean & tidy.

Dirty laundry, dishes, unfinished food etc left on its own can contribute to stress, harbor bacteria and create displeasing smells.

Children can easily contribute to the home looking like a mess. Teach our children how to clean up after themselves from a young age. Later on when they have their own homes, they will appreciate how important it is to have a clean home & not fall into the category of the domestically challenged (D.C.).

The most important rule to having a clean home, work space, living room, bedroom etc is to become organized. Organizing a cleaning routine is essential in maintaining a good & clean home environment.

A rule of thumb while maintaining home cleanliness is to make sure you are done with cleaning one room before going on to the next room. Have your children make up their own bed upon awakening so it can be less work for you. Firstly, remove all items that do not belong in the room & put them in a laundry basket. Now is a good chance to pick up & throw away garbage that is found in the room. Vacuum, sweep, mop & clean the floor, table & other surfaces as necessary. Consequently, you may consider the first room as cleaned.

Repeat the process when cleaning all other rooms. Bring & browse through the basket of misplaced items & place them where you think they belong as you go through cleaning all the rooms. Every item has its place and should remain at its place after usage. Keep on doing it until the basket is empty. Avoid placing the basket full of items in the closet. You may forget about them. Besides, the laundry basket is meant for laundry.

The sequential room cleaning process prevents you from becoming confused as to which room has been cleaned or requires cleaning. It can create more relaxing moments for you & save your energy too. Have a bucket of cleaning supplies on all levels of the home & perhaps for every bathroom. It can make the task of cleaning more convenient & efficient. Therefore, you can always be ready for a cleaning situation that requires your immediate attention. Stains do not look good on anything.

Teach your spouse & children the important aspects of home cleanliness. Have them practice good hygiene & home manners. For example, do not have them bring food & eat in their rooms. It can mean one less item of unfinished food, dinner plates or food stain for you to handle. Cooperation from other people living in the same abode can make maintaining home cleanliness easier & simpler to manage.
