Life Coach - Divorce Mediator

When your marriage ends feeling grief is a natural part of the loss of the family structure and the significant relationship, whether the decision was mutual, or thrust upon you-both parties suffer.

Grief has various stages and the intense emotions that occur can make it difficult to make the many decisions that are required.

In my role as a Life Coach, I rely on both my professional knowledge and personal experience-proffering different options and alternatives for the resolution of issues- to help couples communicate and negotiate effectively-financial, emotional, dividing tangible possessions and co-parenting.

However, we know that emotions can impair the ability to make informed decisions. This is the reason that I also help divorcing people understand and manage the grief process. Grief is relevant in divorce because everyone is vulnerable to it during and after experiencing a major loss.

Many enter the divorce settlement negotiation in the early stages of grief and vacillate between denial and feelings of sadness, anger and wanting to retaliate. Others readily enter into the acceptance stage; they have made peace with the loss of their marriage and are ready to build a new life-therefore sadness, grief, anger and retaliation are absent. Others systematically diminish the uncomfortable feelings attendant to grief through using alcohol, drugs, work, sex and other self-medication. Some diminish the uncomfortable feelings with sleeping pills and/or antidepressants.

Children are impacted by their own grief and by their parents’ grief, especially when parents struggle to make informed decisions regarding their children due to theirs and their children’s grief-thus everyone experiences a double dose.

As a relationship coach-or in this case a relationship dissolution coach, I help couples understand and manage their sadness, anger and grief so as to lessen its effects on informed decision-making. For example: “I can see how angry you are and in my experience that is very common and normal.” This acknowledgement diminishes the intense feelings and enhances their informed decision making.

For those who are recurrently angry, sad and/or seeking retaliation, I continually empathically acknowledge and normalize their grief, anger, sadness or desire to seek retaliation. For those who are self-medicating or visibly stuck in depression, I encourage additional support-such as accountants, financial planners, lawyers and real estate professionals.

No matter their stage of grief most divorcing people are likely to progress toward acceptance when their grief, sadness, anger and retaliation feelings are recognized and acknowledged.

Most divorcing people are also likely to benefit from the increased trust they feel when I empathically recognize their grief, anger, sadness and desire for retaliation.

Children also benefit from recognition of their feelings and this helps parents advance towards acceptance. As parents move past the early and frequently volatile stages of grief, anger and sadness, and make decisions in the best interest of their children, then the children progress more readily through their grief, sadness and anger.

All About the Wild Orchids

It may be surprising to most people, but orchids happen to be the largest naturally occurring order in the plant world in terms of the number of different distinct kinds. In the wild, more than thousands of different varieties of orchids exist with hundreds of thousands of hybrids. Wild orchid flowers also come in a gamut of different characteristics in practically every color or shade. This is why wild orchids are very much prized by people all over the world.

Orchids grow in the wild, thriving mostly in dense forests and jungles, making them such exotic members of the botanical world. Wild orchids exist practically in every planet save, of course, for Antarctica where plant life can hardly survive.

There are three different general types of orchids that grow in the wild. Terrestrial orchids such as Cymbidiums and Paphiopedilums, are those that grow on the ground, particularly in marshes. Epiphytic orchids are those that usually grow on rocks or trees, from which they can anchor themselves with their roots to absorb water and nutrients. Saprophytic orchids are those that thrive in decayed plants, these do not have green leaves and are not really much grown as ornamental plants because of their lack of beauty.

Caring for Wild Orchids

Most people think of wild orchids as very delicate plants that need complicated steps for care, but actually, orchids are very easy to care for. It is not like the bonsai plant which requires a lot of attention. Since wild orchids grow in the wild, they can pretty much fend for themselves. Of course you can expect that wild orchids would have to adjust when you bring them to your home. Here are some important steps to make it easy for a wild orchid to thrive in civilization:

The important thing about growing wild orchids is to maintain an environment that it prefers. You do not necessarily have to grow a jungle at home, you just need to make sure that the place where you put the wild orchid has the right amount of humidity, temperature, light and air. You also need to provide it with ample water and food.

1. Humidity - wild orchids need around 60% humidity. If you live in a dry area, you may either buy a humidity tray or surround the orchid with trays filled with water and rocks.

2. Temperature - wild orchids are not really picky about temperature, just do not subject it to extremes. When it is very cold you may bring the orchid somewhere warm. If it gets hot, you can just spray water to cool it.

3. Light - orchids are also not so sensitive to light, they generally can withstand direct sunlight or no light for long periods.

4. Air - Orchids do need good ventilation, however, so it is important to make sure it gets ample air, but not too much wind.

5. Water - check the place where the orchid is attached to, if it is moist, then the plant probably has enough water, if it is dry, you might need to add more.

6. Food - although wild orchids need some amount of fertilizer, it should not get too much. It is often advisable to dilute the fertilizer with lots of water to prevent fertilizer build-up.

Wild orchids are very good additions to one’s garden or home. If you want to know more about wild orchids, you can consult with the many resources available in book stores, libraries and online.

Making YouTube Videos - Why You Need to Be Cautious of Work From Others

Are you interested in making your own video to be displayed on the YouTube website? If you are, you may be wondering what type of video you should make. While there are a large number of different YouTube videos that you can make and share with other internet users, there are certain types of videos that you may want to avoid. One of those videos involves video content that isn’t actually yours.

When it comes to making your own YouTube videos, you will want to make sure that the videos are actually yours. It is common to find videos on YouTube that have similar ideas or concepts; that is okay. What is not okay is actually using someone else’s work. This is actually illegal, as many videos, television shows, movies, and music videos are protected by copyright laws. Copyright laws aim to protect those who legally own a piece of work, like a television show, movie, or music video. Since someone else’s work is often protected by law, you could suffer serious consequences for using someone else’s work, especially if you try and claim it as your own.

What you need to remember about copyright laws is that they include every second or word of the piece in question. For instance, there are some YouTube video owners who think that they can show different clips of their favorite movies, music videos, or television shows. Many believe since they are not showing the item in its entirety, they are safe from breaking any copyright laws, but that is not how it works. You are required to seek permission from those holding the rights to a music video, movie, or television show before using any part of it, even a clip that only last a few seconds.

One aspect of copyrighting, that you need to take into consideration is, which many people are unfamiliar with, surrounds public venues or public events. Did you know that if you take a video of a popular sports event or a concert, you may be unable to post that video online? In most cases, you will find that no issue is raised by opposing parties, but you never really know until a problem arises. In many cases, the venue that hosted the event could claim that they have the rights to your video, as it documents an event that took place on their property. It is also not uncommon for the individual or individuals in question to claim that they own the copyright of any videos taken, as the video focuses on them. That is why you may want to proceed with caution before uploading sporting event videos or concert videos to the YouTube website.

As it was previously mentioned, there are consequences to violating copyrighting laws. In most cases, you will find that the consequences depend on the parties involve, as they often have the most say in what action is taken. If you post a video on YouTube and the video wasn’t yours or contains illegal clips, your video will likely be removed right away. As previously mentioned, the parties involves, most commonly the copyright owners, may wish to have you prosecuted or fined; the decision is often theirs to make.

As you can see, there are a number of different reasons as to why you need to be careful when making and sharing videos on the YouTube website. In all honesty, you just need to use your head. You wouldn’t want someone taking the credit for your hard work, would you?

The REAL Secret Behind “The Secret”

I just finished watching The Secret, a popular new video.

For people who have never seriously worked on this kind of personal development, The Secret would be a good way to begin learning how to attract more joy and abundance into their lives. But I would attach a warning label: The Secret is only a BEGINNING.

Positive thinking DOES work - there’s no doubt about it!

But positive thinking alone is like a cream puff with no filling. The pastry is delicious and even satisfying up to a point, but the hollow inside leaves much to be desired.

Consider this example: You might strain, push, and strive to make your every thought a positive one. But nothing changes. Life remains a never-ending flow of negative happenings. Sometimes it even gets worse.

Or, through persistence and effort you could manage to lift your thinking onto a more positive level. Things happen. Money starts coming in. Relationships improve. But it’s all temporary. Good things arrive one day and depart the next.

What’s the problem?

Well, for one thing, there’s no filling. The cream puff is empty! The life you are trying to obtain is nothing more than air without inner substance.

That’s why The Secret is not an end in itself … it is only a beginning. The value of making your thoughts more positive is limited. You see, there are hidden levels within you that your mind cannot access or control. I call these levels your opposing team.

What is this “opposing team”?

It is a part within each one of us that tries to play the role of protector. Think of it this way - on an American football team you have an offense and a defense. The offense is responsible for moving the ball forward. The defense is responsible for defending territory and keeping the opposing team out of the end zone.

We have the same two “teams” in our minds - an offense and a defense. The offensive team works hard to help us achieve our desires. However, the defensive (opposing) team works just as hard at holding us back until we have proven we are responsible enough to use our power without hurting ourselves or others.

Where does the opposing team come from?

The opposing team begins to take shape during childhood. When you were a child, every time someone told you that you did something wrong, that you were bad, that you hurt someone, two things happened. You were punished…AND you punished yourself! You began to block your power in order to protect yourself and others.

How we are treated as children has a huge impact on how we treat ourselves and the beliefs we hold about ourselves.

What is the impact of the opposing team?

The opposing team holds us back from performing at our peak potential. It hampers our ability to succeed and sustain success. It impedes our ability to feel worthy and believe that we can have anything we need or desire, especially when these things improve the people and environment around us.

What’s the solution?

Once you learn how to earn the trust and respect of your opposing team, you can literally “flip” them from defense to offense. To achieve your optimal best, you must have one solid (offensive) team that is focused on just one thing - forward momentum!

That’s the REAL secret behind “The Secret” - and your mind wants it kept hidden!

Why would your mind do such a thing? Because you have given your mind control over your life, and now its whole mission is to protect you! Any time you try to think new thoughts, accept new teachings, or do things in a different way, your mind says, “No, no, no. That’s not the way we do things. You might experience emotional hurt going down that path. It’s best to stay on the safe road.” And because your mind has such tremendous control over what you think and how you act, you quickly fall back into line.

So, given this limitation, how can you possibly change your life? The answer is quite simple: Remember you are NOT your mind. Step back from your mind. Get OUT of your mind!

Unfortunately, it is easier to say than do

It IS possible to get out of your mind on your own. But, if you can find a trainer or mentor who is qualified to guide you, the way becomes much easier and faster.

Guidance and support are helpful because the mind will not allow itself to be dethroned without resistance. It will put up roadblocks and tell you forcefully that the direction you are heading will lead to disappointment and disaster.

Your mind operates like a bureaucrat. It will do whatever is necessary to protect its kingdom … and you are that kingdom. That’s why getting out of your mind is so important. As long as you are IN your mind, change will be difficult and only temporary.

What should you look for when you search for a mentor or trainer?

Be certain anyone you consider has:

  • Already gone into their own inner being
  • Earned the trust and respect of their opposing team
  • Cleared away a lifetime of clutter and negative beliefs

Don’t be fooled by talk

Many people will tell you they have arrived when they don’t really know what “arrival” means. They may honestly believe they have made the trip. Unfortunately, their lives are still mind-directed.

Before you take guidance from anyone, become very quiet inside and ask yourself, “Is this person meant to be my inner guide?” If you experience any doubt or hesitation, move on. When the right person comes along, you’ll know it. It will be easy for you to work with that person to open the powerful inner life that already resides within you.

What will be the final outcome?

Positive thoughts will become a natural way of thinking for you. But, instead of being a forced activity of the mind, your positive attitude will come from your inner core. Your positive thoughts will be generated by a REAL feeling of self-confidence. You will know what you want and you will know how to get it.

You will move effortlessly through each day in abundance, peace, and happiness. You will wake up with a positive attitude in the morning and go to bed with it at night, all because you have discovered that the REAL power of life lies BEYOND your mind. By moving past mental manipulation, you will allow yourself to become the wonderful person you were born to be.

That’s the REAL secret behind The Secret!

An Earth Angel to Take Me Home

There are so many amazing stories of people who worked in the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11, 2001; some never making it into the buildings because they were running late, felt ill, or just had a day off. Others miraculously survived and lived to tell their story.

My former co-worker Andrew and I barely escaped before the second plane hit. We were of thousands who walked for miles and tried to figure a way to escape the chaos.

After treading on foot for what seemed like forever, we stopped on 35th Street and 3rd Avenue. All I wanted was to see my family. I felt stranded. Taxi drivers sped through the streets past hundreds of pedestrians, who relentlessly ran up to them, attempting to get a ride. Discouraged, I thought to myself, “I’m never getting home.” Andrew turned to me and said, “The ferry that I take to go home is right up the block. Did you want me to stay with you until you get a cab?” I said, “No, you need to go.”

As we hugged, Andrew pointed to an empty taxi that pulled up next to us. We said our goodbyes and I quickly climbed in. People were still scrambling for cabs, yet no one even glanced at this one.

I climbed into the car and immediately noticed something very odd - it was immaculate. The seats smelled like newly finished leather; the windows were sparkling. “This is definitely odd,” I mumbled.

The driver smiled as he looked through his rear view mirror and said, “Hello, Miss, how are you? You know, you’re my first customer today.”

Although I was bit taken back as to how he could be smiling at a time like this, and how I could be his first customer that day, immediately I became irritated and replied, “I could be better,” as I tried to wipe off the soot from my hair and clothes. “I don’t have any money. Can you help me?” I asked, my voice cracking.

” Not a problem Miss. Where do you live?”

“Astoria - in Queens,” I said, trembling and still somewhat irritated at his obviously calm demeanor.

“I live there too. I’ll take you. No charge.”

As the driver pulled away, I took my cell phone from my purse to see if there was a signal (all service was disrupted due to the collapse of the Towers). Nothing. I started to become anxious, moving from one side of the car to the other. I couldn’t wait to get home to my family. My mind became flooded with thoughts - were my friends, who also came into work that morning, alive? Did they make it out in time? Did my mother, who worked near City Hall and was just blocks away from the Towers, know I was ok? My anxiety worsened while I frantically started pressing the buttons on my phone in hopes of finding a signal. Then I heard the driver’s faint voice through the glass:

“Miss, everything will be fine. Everything will be fine,” It was as if he could read my thoughts and feelings at that very moment. He began speaking of the glory of God, and how I needed to believe that my life had a purpose - and not to give up, whatever happens. I didn’t know what to say, so I stared out the window in silence.

At what I believe was to be around 3:15pm, we approached the 59th Bridge, which connects Manhattan to Queens. Bumper to bumper traffic was not uncommon, even during off-peak hours. Strangely, we drove right through, not hitting any traffic ahead. In fact, there were no cars to be seen. When we approached the end of the bridge, my cell phone beeped. “A signal!” I thought. I grabbed it and checked through voice mail messages from friends and loved ones. I started to weep.

“Miss, please don’t worry. Everything will be fine. You’ll be home soon.” He said.

We were now off the bridge onto the street and so I leaned in to give the driver the directions to go home. Before I could mouth the words he knew exactly where to go, and before I knew it we were approaching my house.

As we pulled up, I leaned in towards the glass once again and said, “Thank you, sir. Thank you so much for taking me home. How can I repay you?” He replied, “Just take care of yourself and have faith in our Father. He’ll take care of you, too.”

When climbing out of the cab, I glanced at his taxi driver’s license, which was attached to the back of his seat. The date the license was issued September 11, 2001.

I know now that angels led me out of the Tower and brought me home safely to my family. On the darkest, most horrific day of my life, God was with me, as well as my Angels.

Teaching Hatha Yoga - Physical Limits of Yoga Students

Have you ever seen a Yoga student who was so competitive that it caused an injury? How do you reason with a person who cannot put competitive feelings aside during a Yoga class?

Concerning students who push themselves too far - A Yoga student’s number one teacher is his or her body. If the student does not listen to the body, the lowest form of awareness cannot be developed.

In this case, a Yoga student will not reach higher levels of consciousness (meditation or Samadhi) because awareness of the body is one of the fundamental steps in Yoga training. Physical awareness will eventually lead to mental and emotional awareness, at a later point, in a Yoga student’s training.

Finally, spiritual awareness will result in a “spiritual awakening.” This spiritual awakening will cause a Yoga student to connect physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, which will result in finding one’s true purpose in life.

When we find our purpose in life, we find self-worth. Now that you have seen the formula to self-worth, you must realize that none of this can happen if we are struggling back at “square one,” dealing with our ego.

Adults who cannot suppress their ego are often in touch with their inner child, but have taken a wrong turn, if they are on a path of self-improvement. It is good for adults to have some care free qualities, but we cannot afford to push our bodies like children often do.

Children commonly push their bodies too far, because they are not familiar with physical limits and their consciousness is limited, but children will usually listen to adult warnings.

When adult Yoga students physically push their bodies too far, it can cause permanent injury to a joint, and possibly, halt physical Yoga practice completely.

However, adult students do not always listen to their Yoga teacher. This is why it is important for Yoga teachers to repeatedly cue students in regard to basic contraindications for specific Yoga postures (asanas).

Sorry to say, the adult Yoga student who still continues to push the physical body too far, after repeated warnings, from his or her Yoga teacher, needs a “baby sitter.” You may have to talk to a competitive Yoga student, in private, and express realistic concerns about potential injury, which can result from using force.

Unfortunately, if you have a student who does not listen to your repeated warnings, you may have to ask him or her to leave. This person should not be allowed to hurt him or herself in your Yoga class.

Your Not-To-Do List

Picture yourself entering a supermarket, with a to-do-list. In a mechanical way you hit the rows and grab the items that are on the list. On your way out you think quickly whether you have left something out, but you can think of anything…

Organizing is often about things that need to be done. It is about planning, setting priorities and an instrument like a to-do-list is a way to achieve this. The to-do-list reminds you of your priorities, it is a silent secretary showing you the way to your next appointment.
A to-do-list has a positive focus. You drag important items to this list because they enable to achieve your goal.

So far so good. But there is more, for example when you ask the question; “why do I need such a list, could I do without? And what would I need instead? Apparently there are other items - not on the to-do-list - which distracts you and make that you do not achieve your goal.

Amongst these Not-to-Do items are those nasty habits that lead you nowhere. Perhaps you remember an issue or two that you would write on such a list if there was one.
The thing I would put on the list - and check once I arrive at the supermarket - is to take it easy. Think about the meal to prepare and what you need. And above all, what do I tend to forget again and again.

First of all it does train-my-brain and secondly I become more confident. Confident that whatever I’m planning or preparing, I will deliver for the simple reason that I’m concentrated on the job. I no longer need the to-do-list, just a simple note to remind me to focus on no to rush, or to … whatever is on the not-to-do list.

Why Use Private Money For Real Estate Investing? Reason #1

I’ll never forget it… my Realtor phoned and breathlessly told me about a deal that was too good to pass up. He described the property and the price and I had to agree- it sounded like a fantastic opportunity. Sadly, I told him I had no ready cash, and my credit was already overextended. I would have to pass. I glumly hung up the phone.

This experience, several years ago, lead me to examine how I was financing my investment properties. Because I was tied in to using my own cash and conventional mortgages, I was severely limited in the number and kind of properties I could acquire. I decided then and there to begin learning all I could about private money for real estate investing.

I gradually began to develop a stable of private investors, partners really, who had money to loan and were ready to make it available to me at a moments notice. Since I started putting the principles of private money for real estate investing to work, I haven’t had to pass on a ‘once in a lifetime’ deal for financial reasons again.

A perfect example occurred a couple of weeks ago that illustrates what I’m talking about. Again, my realtor phoned and told me about a foreclosure listing he had. The bank had sold the property, but the deal had fallen through. These have always been great opportunities for me, and this was no exception. Thanks to the fact that I have access to plenty of private money for real estate investing, I knew just what to do.

With just a couple of phone calls, I had lined up the financing I needed to proceed with the deal, and I stand to make several thousand dollars on this property when I close on it at the end of the month.

That’s several thousand dollars I would have been forced to watch fly into the pocket of some other investor if I didn’t have ready access to a flexible source of cash, namely my private money lenders. I’ve got several who are friends now, and our deals are always win-win situations for all parties.

If you need another reason to start building a network of lenders who can provide you private money for real estate investing, this is one of the best.

Answer number one to the question, “Why use private money for real estate investing?” - you’ll never need to miss a great deal again!

How To Make Wine At Home

Do you enjoy sipping on a nice glass of cabernet with your 8oz petit filet mignon? Or do you enjoy a nice day out tasting wines at your local winery? If you are like me and many other wine connoisseurs; wouldn’t you love to be able to make your own wine? Wine making is a very delicate process from the selection of the grapes to the bottling of finished wine. If you have never been to a winery than I recommend you do. Only then will you be able to gain a full appreciation of the wine making process. I have tested out a variety of wine making techniques and I offer my recommendations below.

The first way I’ve tried is the simplest way to make a drinkable alcoholic beverage that resembles wine.

What you will need to create this beverage:

5 gallon bucket of grape juice un-opened

Liter coke bottles emptied

Steps to create this beverage:

1. Leave the bucket of the grape juice in a area around 75 degrees F for two months

2. Open the bucket and be sure not to shake

3. Siphon the juice into the coke bottles leaving the gunk on the bottom of the bucket

4. Your wine is ready to be drank

Now if you use this method don’t think that you will taste a wine similar to a fine selection from Joseph Phelps. This is an easy way to make an alcoholic beverage resembling wine. If you are looking to create a more professional wine I would recommend you taking a look here. This is a book that gives you homemade recipes to make your own wine.
