Like everyone, I’ve had my fair share of emotional slumps in life.
Dad used to say to me ‘ When you’re a child, it’s the best years of your life.’

I used to look at him and think,’ It must be so exciting to be an adult and do what you like. How can he say being a kid is the best time of your life?!

Occasionally as a teenager I’d think, “It’s amazing. My parents could have parties three times a week and no one could stop them!’

But being the former top footballer he was and coach to top goal kickers in A grade Sydney football his main saying was ‘We’ll win.’

Which he did a lot of with this attitude.

In hindsight and with many adult responsibilities under my belt, I took on the world like we all do and had a few enthusiasms dimmed. The rise and fall of job changes was more than I’d been brought up to expect with my happy stable family life and the first few knocks hit hard.

I was so grateful for books like Power of Positive Thinking, Napoleon Hill, The Magic of Thinking Big and all of the classics which reassured me I could create an abundant life if I followed certain time honoured principles.

With the world changing at a sometimes alarming rate in 2007 it’s more important than ever to keep up, not just physically with a good diet and enough rest but mentally staying up to date too. And of course boosting ourselves with a strong spiritual foundation to keep us congruent and strong to weather the winds of change.

While working in a sometimes stressful job as a teachers aide in a rowdy yet wonderful high school in the 1990’s I’d sometimes come home exhausted from teaching life skills to live wire teenagers with the energy of runaway horses.

I’d lie down on the couch, sigh and think, ” Ah,I think I’ll throw on a Tony.”
Tony being Anthony Robbin’s course in personal power.

In those days having an almost personal life coach at an affordable price only came on cds. The personal power course was and is still excellent and slowly but surely I cleared out personal blocks to success, yet these days there’s a huge variety of life coaches on audiobook I can download to an mp3 or ipod.

Genuinely talented people who want to reach out and can give step by step mentoring in a life area you want or need to polish up to get you to the place you want to go and can shine in.

The pace of change may have picked up, yet there’s no shortage of valuable information from vibrant teachers skilled in entertainment and high energy performance, who can teach you the life skill you wish to master for a fraction of the price of a flesh and blood personal trainer.

Plus these days with the popularity of the ipod and mp3, you can download your lesson or audiobook and multitask while at the gym, out walking, on public transport or behind the wheel of the car.

You can learn sensitive material sitting in the peace and quiet of nature or get a quick cappuccino burst of insight into tackling your goals and ambitions from the world’s top winners and surmounters of huge obstacles.

As the Chinese saying goes the word crisis carries in it the word for opportunity.

Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park are those pre-selected vacation sites, or you just won’t go there unless it’s by mistake. Whether you’re headed west on US Interstate 70 leaving Grand Junction, CO or you’re headed east out of Utah, there just isn’t a visible clue to the unique beauty of these two vacation spots. You look out the window at the great western desert, minus the cacti, and your reaction may well be, “How soon can we get out of this… this nothing?”

Often in this wonderful world of variety, the spectacular is just around the next corner or over the next ridge. In this case it’s twenty minutes away from the Crescent Junction Exit (Exit # 179) 70 miles west of Grand Junction, CO and 20 miles east of Green River, UT. Here lies a vast area of rugged yet artistic beauty and much of it is accessible by two-wheeled drive, low-riding automobile. If you’re restricted physically to enjoy the view from your automobile, this is a wonderful country, but the beautiful and challenging trail trips and river expeditions that await the more adventurous are truly inspiring.

You make the call. Luxurious lodging beckons with full-guided tours on land and water, or camping and back packing offer less expensive choices in all directions… It’s all here in Moab, UT.

Native Moabites and National Forest facilities and employees eagerly share their knowledge and recommendations to fit your needs and expectations. Don’t let the hustle and bustle of Moab with a population of 5200 fool you. In 30 minutes you can bask in a remote corner of the great Southwest.

Do consider the following tips related to the time of year that you plan to visit this area.

–During the months of May through September the daytime temperature may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
–From November through February nighttime temperatures have reached below zero Fahrenheit.
–Be prepared for extreme temperatures. Be sure to check local forecasts and with local tour companies for availability and for how to dress and prepare for the temperature extremes.
–This is an adventure that requires several days to do it justice. Besides driving and hiking Arches National Monument and Canyon Lands National Monument, activities include 4 Wheeling, ATV Riding, Fishing, Golfing, Guides and Outfitters, Hiking, Horseback Riding, Motorcycle Touring, Photography, and River Running.

For the history buff, the area abounds with the color and intrigue of cattle ranching and rustling, Indians, and pioneer settlement for example, the legend behind Dead Horse Point State Park.

Points south of Moab include Bridges National Monument and Rainbow Bridge National Monument, lands with their own aura and eccentric rock formations.

Moab, Utah, offers a wide spectrum of activities and sites for the vacationer. It is a jewel of unique vista and history. It may sit seemingly out n the middle of no-man’s land, but it is the western entrance to Southern Utah’s canyons and monoliths. Whether bathed in summer sun, wearing a mantle of winter snow or drenched in sudden thunderstorms, this land is a must-see, must-do adventure.

Like any camera, a digital camera runs on battery power. The type of batteries you need depends on your camera. Some models use a custom battery supplied only by the camera manufacturer, and others use standard, AA-size batteries. You can even source for third-party (OEM) batteries that can last as long and are cheaper. Although digital cameras use up battery juice at a rapid pace, it is possible to extend battery life and keep your camera expenses in check.

Here are some tips on how to enable your batteries to last longer. They are not difficult to learn, and I hope you will benefit from these tips.

First we shall look at the components of digital cameras that use up battery life heavily:

Flash. I consider this the biggest user of power. Each time you fire the flash, some battery power is consumed. It is not surprising as lots of energy is needed to illuminate an entire hall or room. One of the tips I will be sharing is that you should not use flash unless necessary.

LCD Screen. Unlike cameras of the past, digital cameras incorporate a LCD screen so that you can preview your composition before you take the shot. Contrary to what people think, I do not consider this to be the most power thirsty feature in digital cameras compared to flash. Of course, the frequency of usage plays a part. A tip I can share is that you can turn the screen off to conserve power when you are not taking any shot or when walking around.

Digital Zoom. When you zoom in and out, you use battery power to drive the motor. To avoid this, go nearer to your subject so that you do not have to activate the zoom as much.

Tips to make your batteries last longer

We have just seen the biggest power users on your digital camera - the LCD screen and flash. To conserve your battery power, you should work to reduce the usage of these.

First, reduce the brightness of your LCD screen. It will still allow you to view your shot composition but it will result in some battery power savings.

Secondly, when you are not taking a shot and just walking around, switch off your LCD to viewfinder mode instead. The viewfinder mode is where you view through the viewfinder to take a picture instead of using the LCD screen to do it. It does not consume energy unless you activate the digital zoom to zoom in and out.

Thirdly, you should minimize the usage of the flash. In low light, increase your ISO speed to 400 or 800 or even 1,600 if your camera permits. The higher the ISO setting, the less light is needed to capture the shot. Hence you will be able to take the shot without using flash.

For some shots, you can also consider taking the subject with the sun at your back. This way, your subject will be well illuminated and reduce the need for you to activate your flash to brighten the picture. Also, go as near the subject as you can so as to minimize the need to use digital zoom. You can cut down on the usage of battery power by the zoom motor this way.

Lastly, when purchasing batteries, remember to go for a rechargeable Lithium ion battery if possible. These battery types have a greater capacity than the rechargeable ni-cad batteries.

Some other tips to make your batteries last longer

–Switch off your digital camera when you are not using it for a continuous period of time.

–Store your batteries in a cool, dry location away from sunlight and other heat sources. Such external sources damage batteries and result in shorter battery power life.

–View your playback of your images after you have downloaded them on the computer or on TV. The LCD screen is only for you to view your image to ascertain if the shot is satisfactory and whether another is needed. It is not meant for prolonged viewing of images taken.

–In cold weather, keep your digital camera and batteries in your pockets. This will warm them up nicely until you are ready to use them. It has been found that by doing this, your batteries can actually last longer in cold weather.

–If you haven’t used your camera for a while, your rechargeable batteries will have lost some of their charge. Ensure you charge them fully before leaving the house.

Final tip

Always bring a spare battery or two with you! Don’t leave home without it - imagine the horror of missing a beautiful shot due to inadequate battery power. Even if you do not need an extra battery, it is good to have one as you can leave one charging at home when you are using the other. All photographers should have a spare battery handy.

Sunlight is known to improve well-being. The vitamin D that sunlight offers is recognized as a mood booster and a key element in physical health. Vitamin D has also been identified as a regulator for several tissues, including breast and prostate tissue, and has been acknowledged as a key vitamin in improving certain cancers.

Noacea, a US drug company, took this information into account when they created a pill that supplies high levels of calcitriol, a naturally occurring hormone and the biologically active form of vitamin D. This concentrated dose of vitamin D is hoping to be proven as an anti-cancer agent.

The drug is called Asentar (DN-101) and is still being tested, but showed noteworthy results in clinical trials. If successful, it may be offered to those in the advanced stages of prostate cancer. Asentar would be offered as a supplement, not a replacement, to be taken along with chemotherapy treatments, such as Taxotere, a chemotherapy drug also know as docetaxel.

Statistics have shown that prostate cancer is higher among men who are exposed to less sunlight, such as those who live far from the equator. Overall, prostate cancer is the second leading source for cancer death in males. The mortality rate is expected to rise. The Prostate Cancer Foundation expects that without new cures, the number of deaths related to prostate cancer in the US may grow to roughly 68,000 annually by 2025.

During the 250-patient phase two trials, patients who took Asentar with Taxotere typically lived around nine months longer than those who did not supplement with Asentar. That is a 49% increase in overall survival, with most patients living 18 months after being diagnosed. If future tests prove to be as promising, the drug could potentially be available as early as 2009.

The 900-patient phase three trials will seek to prove the safety and survival rates.

There are no guarantees that phase three trials will be as successful as phase two. It has been noted that phase two trials did not use the best possible Taxotere program. Some are arguing that the results may have been exaggerated.

There have also been studies showing that cancer cells lose the capability to react to vitamin D (one of the fat soluble vitamins). In these studies, cancer cells continued to increase, despite large amounts of vitamin D. While the results of clinical tests are still inconclusive, studies are also being done to show if Asentar can help improve the effect of other chemotherapy drugs, such as Taxotere.

There are still many factors involved in determining if Asentar will prove to be useful and safe for those in the advanced stages of prostate cancer, as well as other cancers.

As you are possibly aware from my previous articles, I have a shortlist of my top six favorite cheap mp3 players on my BuyCheapMp3Players site.

A couple of my top six are lower end of the price range machines from brand name manufacturers (Apple iPod and Sony).

Most people will be pretty familiar with these two companies and the quality of the products that they produce. Also, most of mp3 players that they have produced have been covered in some depth elsewhere, on review sites, in press reports and the like.

I therefore see little point in recovering well trodden ground by describing these machines in any detail.

What I would like to do instead is go into a little more detail with a short comparative review of a couple of cheap mp3 players from lesser known manufacturers.

Both of these machines, in my opinion, beautifully encapsulate the reasoning behind my impartial recommendation to buy a cheap mp3 player, rather than perhaps wasting our money on an expensive brand name machine.

The simple fact is that there are many cheap mp3 players that offer great quality at exceptional prices, and why pay more than you need to?

In other words, the two players that I have highlighted below simply provide tremendous value for money, and who amongst us doesn’t want that?

iRiver iFP-700 (780T model - 128MB - @$60)

The first point to note about this player is the great sound quality, and my previous articles have all attempted to highlight how important this is. The bass response, in particular, is simply outstanding, making this a very good choice for those who will use their mp3 player mainly to listen to rock music, hip hop and the like.

The 128MB available to you translates into something like four hours of music, well within the lifespan capacity of the battery, which can easily last twenty hours plus in normal use.

It will play MP3, WMA & OGG music files, and can record from any sound source, not just through your PC. It also features an FM radio, is pretty resistant to the skips and jumps that are often a feature of Flash based players, and weighs in at just 3 grams!

So, there are a heck of a lot of good things that you can say about the 780T, making it an outstanding buy in its class and price range for me.

I do, of course, have a couple of small gripes!

First, the radio reception is often not particularly good. Obviously this is only relevant if you are interested in listening to radio, but, it is something to be aware of.

Second, I found the earphones a little difficult to use, and pretty uncomfortable into the bargain. Not that the 780T is unique in this, and, of course, earphones can be bought separately, but I didn’t really like the standard phones that come with the 780T.

That being said, it is still a very, very good example of what you get if you buy a cheap mp3 player, and for the price, it is exceptional value for money.

SanDisk Sansa e100 (e140 - 1GB - $80)

This one comes with 1GB memory, so it obviously has the ability to load up considerably more music than the 780T above.

Again, this is five star mp3 player, great quality from a lesser known name, that can play mp3 or WMA files, weighs in at 0.4ozs and has a battery life of 15 hours continuous playback.

Also like the 780T, this one offers terrific sound quality, with its “TruBass” feature again adding considerably to the response at the lower end of the tonal scale.

The controls are extremely ergonomically laid out and are simple to use, and the backlit LCD screen, allied to the detailed album and/or song information shown on it, make this a very easy player to actually operate.

It has the added advantage that there is no requirement for special software to load songs on to it - simple Windows “drag and drop” is all that is required - and for pure functionality, the Sansa e140 is pretty hard to beat.

Again like the 780T, downsides are very few.

There does seem to be a noticeable (and slightly irritating) gap between tracks playing on the e140, but this seems to be a feature (or fault) that I have found with some other Flash based players a well, so maybe it is an inherent fault of the technology, rather than the manufacturers.

I also, once again, found the earphones uncomfortable, but (given the frequency that this appears to be the case) maybe I should blame that on the shape of my own ears, rather than on the phones!

In conclusion, the iRiver 780t and the SanDisk Sansa e140 represent all that is good about the idea of buying a cheap mp3 player!

Both retail for well under $100 in the high street or local mall, but, before buying, don’t forget to check the special eBay deals from my signature at the bottom of this page for extra cheap prices!

Both offer great sound quality, excellent functionality, light weight and good looks.

So, your choice is pretty simple.

Do you want to pay the extra $30 or so necessary to move up from four hours of music with the iRiver 780T to the fifteen hours or so (before a battery change becomes necessary) with the Sansa e140? Otherwise, there is so little to choose between them….

As they say, you pays your money, you takes your choice!

There are many things which are considered to be taboo subjects to discuss openly in public. One such topic is that of genital herpes. The fact is that most people will go to extraordinary lengths to avoid these subjects but in some cases this can be detrimental to the health of the person.

Genital Herpes not only effects a person physically, but has great potential to emotionally devastate them as well. The emotional scars can lead many to seek additional outside mental help.

The person who suffers from genital herpes will sometimes find their lives turned upside down and will be unable to deal with the situation. It need not be this way, but regrettably sometimes the emotional affect genital herpes can have on a person can be greater than the actual medical examination condition itself.

This is not to say that genital herpes isn’t serious or a potentially serious condition, only that some people will find they need more help to cope with the emotional wound of having contracted a sexually transmitted disease than others will.

For these people care needs to be given not only to treat the active condition but also the mental and emotional health of the person. Although there are many areas that are affected, here are just a few areas in which people feel the most:

* Lack of self esteem

* Feelings of guilt

* Anger

* Feelings of shame

* Depression

Although this list is in no way exhaustive, it gives you an idea of the emotional affects genital herpes can have on ones life.

These feelings and emotional states can come about as the consequence of many things:

* such as being rejected by their partner for having a sexually transmitted disease

* being ineffective to cope with the realness of genital herpes

* being unable to deal with any residual scarring of the genital area

Although for the most part genital herpes blisters will go away themselves, there may sometimes be scarring as a consequence of the blisters. This can be due to the severity and the spread of the blisters themselves. If you feel you have contracted this condition get checked immediately. The sooner the better.

Meanwhile, To help with the pain which may be felt with genital herpes blisters you might want to try bathing the affected area in a salt solution comprising of half a teaspoon of salt mixed with half a pint of warm water. This will not only soothe the affected area but it also has the added benefits of drying out the sores.

You might also want to avoid such things as tanning beds and sunbathing. Avoid wearing tight fitting clothing which won’t allow your genital area to breathe. This includes panties, tight fitting briefs for men, bathing suites for long periods of time and nylons on a regular basis.

If you find that urinating is painful due to the urine leaving over the sores, you can either pour water over yourself as you urinate, or you can try to urinate inside a bath of water. Although this may not seem to practical, if you feel enough pain you may not have any other choice.

What you really need to do though when you have genital herpes is get a lot of rest. You body needs it and now is as a good a time as any to start listening to it.

Remember, if you feel the symptoms of genital herpes, overcome the fear of what others will think and get some medical help. You will be grateful that you did.

Acid reflux is a painful condition experienced by millions of people every year. In fact, many feel the incidence of acid reflux is on the rise and attribute the increase to the modern high fat, high sugar diet and relatively sedentary lifestyle. Acid reflux is basically severe, recurring heartburn, generally believed to result from increased abdominal pressure. This pressure prohibits the esophageal sphincter muscle from closing off the stomach, and stomach contents (including strong stomach acids) wash up into the esophagus, causing intense pain.

Numerous over the counter and prescription remedies for acid reflux exist , but not all sufferers find relief from medication. Additionally , the side effects of some medications , as well as their expense make them unattractive choices for some afflicted with acid reflux disease. Many people are constantly searching for a more natural , homemade remedy for this issue.

Acid Reflux and Vinegar: A Potential Homeopathic Cure but Proceed with Caution

One of the more popular remedies you may come across on the internet or on message boards , is the use of apple cider vinegar for the treatment of acid reflux. While acid reflux and vinegar may not seem to go together at all , considering the high acidic content of vinegar , there are people who report experiencing relief after drinking it and who will swear by this method.

One hypothesis about why acid reflux and vinegar might be related is a controversial one - specifically , that acid reflux can sometimes be caused by too little stomach acid. not too much stomach acid. This theory holds that undigested food ferments in the stomach in the absence of appropriate levels of stomach acid. Adding vinegar aids digestion and reduces symptoms. Note that no one has tested this particular idea about acid reflux and vinegar.

Of course there are those who aren’t concerned as to why acid reflux and vinegar are related to one another but are just thankful for the relief it brings. The hope and desire for an end to the burning sensations are usually enough for most people to try any home remedy , at least once.

The use of vinegar has never been shown to be harmful to people when consumed in reasonable quantities; however there are those , of course , who report that acid reflux and vinegar do not , in fact mix and experience an unfortunate increase in their symptoms.

Teenage Pregnancy’s - Scary but a reality Nearly 14 year ago I was a teenager who got herself pregnant. I came from a religious background, my parents had divorced, I had a boyfriend that was older than me, and found myself wanting to be loved and the only way I felt I could get that love was to have a baby.

I remember the day like it was yesterday when the test came up positive. I sat in the toliet for over a hour thinking, what the hell am I gonna do now. I hated my mum, my dad didn’t like my boyfriend so I didn’t talk to him, when I told my boyfriend I was pregnant he dumped me.

So I decided that it was just me and my unborn child from now on.

I hid it from the world, family and friends for 4 months, until one day a letter from a pregnancy info line came address to my mother instead of me came through the mail, then after this day everyone knew.

My mother came and took me home from school, threw the letter at me and asked me ” Are you pregnant”. I said yes, and that I was having the baby. Well, you can imagine what happened. She yelled, she cried, she yelled more, she told me I was NOT having the baby and that was it. But deep down I think she knew that there was really know way that she could stop me.

In the following weeks, she took me to a abortion clinic, a adoption agency, she even took me to a church where I spoke to a man who deals with teenage mothers, and talks then into adopting their babies to good going church folk. I can’t tell you how disgusted I was that there are places like this out there that do this to young girls.

Churches that have there own secret adoption agencies for their church members. he was saying that if I kept the baby I would go to hell, as I am having a child out of wedlock, and there are people in this world and his church that can not have children and I should do the right thing and give up my baby for them. I remember my mother sitting there nodding her head agreeing.

I stuck to my guns and refused, we went home. I had my daughter at the age of 16. And have never looked back nor regretted it at all.

Now that my daughter is 14 soon, yes it worries me that she will do the same thing I did, yes I think am I protecting her enough. But I think all we can do is support them, teach them to be responsible. I have told my daughter everything.

Don’t push your daughter away if she pregnant.
Don’t make her feel like she has done the worst thing ever.
Don’t force her into anything like abortion or adoption. Let her decided.
Don’t yell and fight with her to make yourself feel better.
Don’t degrade her.

Do let her know that you will support her decision.
Do let her explain what she wants.
Do let her know that she is loved.
Do get her all the info she needs.

Just be with her, and let her know that you love her, no matter what.

Because of my experience with my teenage pregnancy, my mother and I haven’t spoken for 10 years, if you treat your daughter the same she won’t want to know you. I will never be the same as my mother ever.

So you’ve been in an automobile accident and have discovered that the other party does not have insurance. What do you do now?

The first step is to turn the claim in to your automobile insurance carrier. Don’t worry, your rates will not go up if you were not at fault for the accident. Your insurance carrier will likely send a claims adjuster to inspect your vehicle. Some insurance companies advise you to take your car to an authorized repair shop for an estimate. Either way, your company will pay for your repairs, except for the “deductible” that you have selected on your insurance coverage. The most common amount of deductible is $500, though many people have a $100 or $250 deductible, and some others have a deductible of $1,000. The higher deductible that you have chosen, the cheaper your automobile insurance will be.

After your vehicle is repaired, your insurance company will begin a process called “subrogation”. Subrogation is where your insurance company attempts to collect the monies that it paid out to repair your vehicle from the at-fault party. This may or may not involve the filing of a lawsuit. If a lawsuit is filed, you may have to appear in court and testify as to what occurred in the accident. Your insurance company will also attempt to recover your deductible in the subrogation process. As you can imagine, subrogation is a difficult process, because most times you are dealing with an individual who did not maintain automobile insurance. In my experience, the individual who does not maintain automobile insurance coverage often does not maintain or have many other assets from which to make retribution on the subrogation claim. Still, the efforts prove worthwhile more times than you might expect.

The next step, if you were injured in the accident, is to present a claim for “uninsured motorist benefits”. Uninsured Motorist Benefits are benefits that are available to you as an option on your automobile insurance policy. If you have chosen to have Uninsured Motorist Benefits, you may be eligible to receive payment from your insurance company if you were injured by a driver who did not maintain automobile insurance on his vehicle. This payment would cover any type of “pain and suffering” or lost wages that you may have incurred as a result of the auto accident. This benefit is a relatively inexpensive option that provides much needed coverage to you in a time of need, and is recommended to all drivers.
