Picking Your Partner

Your link partners should be sites your target market will visit. Think about your product and its subject area and brainstorm to determine where people interested in your product might be looking online. For example, if you’re trying to shift your book about blackjack strategy, it makes sense that the people visiting online casinos would make great customers. Online casinos then could be good partners. Identify top-ranked, high quality casino sites and find the email address of their webmasters.

You can also identify your competitors and see where they trade links.

Tips for talking to webmasters

–Before you contact webmasters, place a link to their site on your resource page to assure them that you will actually provide a quality link.

–Create a subject line that will encourage them to read your message rather than deleting it-you don’t want them to think you’re spam. (Something about their site or product is sure to capture their attention; they will open it, thinking you’re a potential customer.)

–Begin your message by talking about your visit to their site and what you found interesting about it. Detail your product or service in one line and ask them to exchange links with you.

–Tell them in detail where you have placed their link and emphasize that it is only one click away from your homepage.

–Tell them that if you don’t hear back from them in a couple of days, you will consider that to a negative response and that you will remove their link from your

Reciprocal Links And Partner Sites

Keywords and AdWords aren’t the only way that search engines score relevancy; links to other similar sites are another important factor. Keywords have been so abused by some webmasters that links are winning much more relevancy points. Google is said to love them.

It might sound strange to suggest that your users should check out your competitors, but they probably know about them anyway. If your competitors have a higher ranking than you, linking to them can make the higher relevancy score-and the increase in traffic-worth your while.

Alternatively, you can link to your own site by creating a sub-directory. This is like building another Web page, but the URL will include your keyword. So if you were selling stuffed toys, the new URL would be www.yourdomain.com/stuffed_toys/stuffed_toys.html. You could then write a short paragraph on the home page, describing the new page and including a link. Big relevancy points!

Reciprocal Links

Reciprocal linking means forming partnerships with other sites who place a link from their Web pages to yours. You give them a similar link in return.

When you look for people to swap links with, make sure that you don’t reduce the quality or content of your own site. You don’t want users to click straight through without reading your content; you want them to buy first. One way to stop them from running away too quickly is to create a “Webmasters Resource Page” and link to that page from your homepage. This doesn’t take away from the content on your homepage and the links are just one click away rather than being buried deep within the site, giving value to your partners.

In any case, you want to be sure that your site is more than just a page full of links. If your site contains more links than content, it will not be attractive to webmasters, search engines or users.

Link Popularity And Link Analysis

Majority of the major search engines use link popularity as an important factor in ranking relevancy. As search engines have become more sophisticated, so too has link popularity. Link popularity simply is the number of links from other websites that point to your website. This strategy has gained immense success due to the crawling nature of most search engines. Spiders crawl from link to link and store pages into their database. Link popularity is generally gained through reciprocal linking. Other websites would usually point to your website only if you have a link to their website from yours.

A few years ago, the number of websites linking to your site gauged link popularity; little emphasis was placed on the “content relevancy” of the linking site. In an effort to gain more link popularity, “link farms” began sprouting up across the web. For a nominal fee, a website owner could join link farms and enjoy increased link popularity overnight.

Search engines caught onto this tactic and created better tools for detecting legitimate links. Websites that have links from websites with “similar” or “relevant” content score higher, thus earn better placement in search engines.

However, Avoid joining “link farms”; some search engines consider them a form of Spam. Many engines will actually penalize sites for maintaining an abundance of links from non-related websites. It is more important than ever to develop a solid “link-popularity” strategy. One excellent, although time consuming, method is to simply write complimentary website requesting a link exchange.
Link analysis is somewhat different than measuring link popularity. While link popularity is generally used to measure the number of pages that link to a particular site, link analysis will go beyond this and analyze the popularity of the pages that link to your pages. In a way link analysis is a chain analysis system that accords weighting to every page that links to the target site, with weights determined by the popularity of those pages. Search engines use link analysis in their page-ranking algorithm. Search engines also try to determine the context of those links, in other words, how closely those links relate to the search string. For example if the search string was “toys”, and if there were links from other sites that either had the word toys within the link or in close proximity of the link, the ranking algorithm determines that this a higher priority link and ranks the page, that this is linked to, higher.

How To Audition - In Pursuit of Talent

If you don’t know what the director is looking for you can’t possibly fill the shoes!

It’s true isn’t it?

Now, when I say “know what the director is looking for” I can hear you saying - “You don’t even know what show/part/audition I’m going for - how can you possibly know what my director is looking for?” Well let’s stop right there….

Directors are only looking for one thing: TALENT. Now, if that frightens you stop reading right now, grab your teddy bear and go to bed - well, maybe not bed but stop going to auditions at least because you are wasting your time.

However, “Talent” is such a vague term.

There are two definitions from dictionary.com that I think are interesting:

Talent (noun) 1. a special natural ability or aptitude: Well if you enjoy taking part in performance art then you clearly have an aptitude and if you are reading this article I assume you must have some ‘natural ability’ (I discuss the measurement of ‘ability’ in more detail in my ebook - The Ultimate Audition Guide.

2. a capacity for achievement or success; ability. Interesting! So, if talent is measured by your “capacity to achieve success” then by helping you achieve audition success I am offering to ultimately make you more talented. I should charge more for this course!

From a director’s perspective this is the key definition though. The ‘talent’ you display at an audition is what the director will use to judge whether you could make his production as successful as possible. When I am casting I want to hire the people who I think will make me look good so will cast the people who exhibit the most clear examples of certain key skills.

Some of those skills will be matched to my production such as singing, acting, dancing; or to the role being cast; but there is a long list of skills that I look for as a director that are not related to the actual production but are native to Showbusiness and essential for the production process.

These qualities, such as Confidence, Poise, Vocal Projection, Style, Individuality, Attitude etc., are the first thing that hopeful actors need to brush up on so that they even get ‘noticed’ in the audition room. They are what I like to call a performer’s “Sparkle Rating”

In TV, Theater and Movie auditions many hopeful actors forget the value of their “Sparkle Rating” because they are so absorbed in trying to deliver a ‘character’ performance to wow the casting director.

For reality TV shows, game-shows and the like a performer’s “Sparkle Rating” is probably THE most fundamental attribute being assessed.

You can find out about each of the seven “Sparkle” elements in the Ultimate Audition Guide as I break them down in detail. These are elements of your audition that you can easily improve on to give you maximum points at any audition.

In fact, these are the skills that often separate the people who get the parts from the people who don’t.

Until next time - Break a Leg!

AdWords And Premium Advertising

If you do a search at Google, you’ll notice that not only do you get a list of all the sites that return your keyword, you also get a list of other relevant ads on the right of the page and at the top of the listing. These are part of Google’s Adwords and Premium Advertising programs. Advertising like this can certainly be an important part of your marketing plan. Well developed ads with clever wording can prompt an immediate response from the reader to visit your site. Google and Overture are currently making a lot of money with this kind of advertising-and if they’re making money, you can be sure their advertisers are too.

Buying an AdWord on Google is a little complicated but it can be very cost-effective. In effect, Google have combined the Pay-per-Click system with their own relevancy calculations. You’ll need to select a keyword-or an ‘AdWord’ in Googlespeak-and write a short description. But you’ll also have to choose how much you wish to pay, and the price won’t guarantee you a position.

Advertisers enter a maximum bid per click and this is multiplied by the click-through rate (the percentage of users who click on the ad). That’s the score Google use to allocate position.

So for example, if you were prepared to pay a dollar per click, and one user in a hundred who saw your advert clicked on it, you would get a rank number of ($)1 x 1% = 0.01.

Let’s say that gives you top position. You might then get even more users and a higher click-through rate of 2%. That higher rate would reduce your price to 50 cents (0.01 divided by 2%).

All very nice, and it’s always fun to pay less than you’ve said you can afford, but how it works is less important than the fact that it does. All you have to do is figure out how much you’re prepared to pay for each click, how much you can afford to pay each month, and write a great description.

And once again, it’s the description that’s key.

Like the PPC’s, your description has to persuade users that you’re relevant; it doesn’t have to play to the search engine’s software. By all means repeat the keyword, but also make sure you have good, call-to-action copy like “Grab a great deal on DVD’s today!” or “Buy now, while stocks last!” Remember, the more clicks you get, the more sales you’ll make-and the less you’ll pay.

Always place the AdWord in the most appropriate category and track the responses you receive from it. Be proactive in redefining your strategy if you receive minimal response. You’ll probably have to play with the wording and the keyword selection to get the results you want.

Premium Advertising

This is the Platinum Card of Google advertising. For at least $5,000 you can be one of two advertisers to top a category. Very effective, very prestigious-and very expensive. $5,000 is the minimum bid. Something to think about-if you think you can make the money back.

Direct TV And Dish Network Real Deals

Direct TV and Dish Network are both excellent satellite television companies. They have great service, extremely large programming packages, and low prices. They both also offer services that cable television companies are unable to match. From high definition television access to digital television, satellite television service is much more advanced than most cable services. This results in better service for customers and higher quality television.

The biggest question that people ask when deciding to switch from cable television to satellite is which satellite company they should go with. After all, Direct TV and Dish Network both offer high quality service at low prices and have both been recognized by JD Power And Associates for their high level of customer satisfaction. This means that both companies have something to offer their customers and the only reasons that someone chooses one of these companies over another is that one has services that seem slightly more appropriate for their individual situation.

Take high definition television programming, for instance. If you are looking for extremely in depth HDTV coverage with the most possible channels, you will probably choose Dish Network. Dish Network has a selection of 31 HDTV channels including Universal, TNT, HGTV, Discovery, National Geographic, and a lot of channels that are exclusive to the high definition television format. It also has HBO HD, Starz HD, and Showtime HD. Directv’s selection is less comprehensive, so it is not as likely to satisfy someone who is looking for extremely good HDTV coverage. However, with about a dozen HDTV channels and HD locals in some areas, it is enough for anyone who wants enough HDTV to occasionally enjoy the format.

When you look at sports programming, you’ll find the opposite pattern. Direct TV is the die hard sportsman’s company of choice because they offer a few more options than Dish Network. While Dishnetwork in has a very impressive number of seasonal sports subscriptions and other sports channels, Directv in edges them out with extra options like the few dozen channel Sports Pack and the seasonal sports subscription NFL Sunday Ticket.

For programming options like premium movies, foreign language programming and pay per view, the two companies are fairly equal. Each offers the premium movie packages HBO, Starz, Showtime, and Cinemax, though Directv offers them in a smaller programming package than that of Dish Network. International television is comprehensive through both companies, and each company offers a lot more than cable companies have. Dishnetwork has a few more choices than Directtv in this area however, which will only affect you if you are looking for certain languages. When it comes to interactive television, both companies are experimenting with the possibilities. You can find channels that offer news, weather, sports, lottery results, and horoscopes through either company, and Dishnet also includes games and other entertainment.

If you are looking for basic programming, you will find everything you’d expect among Directv’s and Dishnet’s programming packages. Directtv in starts its programming lineup with a 140 channel package, and Dish Network in starts with a 100 channel package, the America’s Top 100. This makes Directv’s entry-level package more comprehensive. When you get to the middle level, Direct TV has 185 channels, while Dishnet has 200. At the top level, each company offers 250 channels.

Comparing the particulars of each company’s programming packages and specials is the only way to determine which company truly has the right programming for you. We feel that this month Dishnetwork gives you sightly more bang for your buck with the current special deals.

Barcelona Hotels - Where And How To Choose

Barcelona is finally seeing an end to the days where a shortage of hotel rooms was acutely felt at certain times of the year, including the boat show, the F1 Grand Prix or the large scale trade fairs and conferences.

The city has seen a huge increase in tourism over the last decade and the construction of news hotels combined with renovating existing buildings to such a standard that they could be converted to hotels is forecast to continue well into the future.

The choice of hotel is often down to the purpose of visiting Barcelona and perhaps can be broken down into three criteria - cost, location and facilities. While many tourists choose the old town, with its darkly narrow streets within easy walking distance of the Ramblas, many business travellers choose hotels close to the Fira.

The top areas for tourists are the Ramblas, the gothic quarter and Passeig de Gràçia, as well as El Born for the nightlife. Hotel Arts is also popular, but located in the Port Olimpic area and not so convenient, although taxis are reasonably cheap compared with many cities, although can be in short supply at weekends and throughout August.

One of the problems with some hotel booking websites is that they aren’t always accurate about where they are located, and many hotels that are described as being in Barcelona are a long way out. It is easy to check though as hotels in Barcelona city will always have a 5-digit postcode starting 080.

There are a number of hotels right on the Ramblas, although you should be aware that the lower end of the street becomes the city’s prime red-light district in the early hours, although the city council is making moves to clean up the whole area.

The top end of the Ramblas, towards Plaça Catalunya, is much better and home to such hotels as 5-star Le Meridien and Hotel 1898. Close by, in the gothic quarter is the Rialto and directly opposite the cathedral is Hotel Colon. Other hotels of note include Banys Orientals in El Born, to which the popular Senyor Parallada restaurant is attached; the 5-star Majestic Hotel on Passeig de Gràcia, with the Claris nearby; and Barceló Sants. The latter is really aimed at business travellers, but as it is directly above Barcelona-Sants station is ideal for the metro and mainline stations, although there are currently massive works going on there due to the high speed train.

Barcelona hosts dozens of major exhibitions and conferences and so there are several hotels within easy walking distance, although you’ll probably want to make your way into the city centre too. 4-star Hotel Plaza is the obvious example and there is a metro station that runs straight into the centre too, but the three big hotels near Sants station are a good bet too.

However, if you’re looking for luxurious surroundings and first class service then you won’t beat the elegance of hotels such as the Majestic, Claris or Le Meridien.

David Leigh runs several websites dedicated to Barcelona, including the recently launched Barcelona Hotels Online.

The Emotional Ingredient That Instantly Attracts Men And Women

Having emotional value is an incredibly powerful currency when it comes to dating (and relationships).

But what does emotional value mean?

Your emotional value is the degree that a man or woman perceives you as potentially contributing to their happiness. It is the most important filter by which both men and women determine how to spend their time and energy.

When a man or woman agrees to go out on a date with you, he or she is (sub-consciously) tuned to look for a type of energy or “mood of life” that tells him or her that you have the ability to bring new and uplifting emotional experiences into his or her life and that merging his or her life with you is more interesting and worthwhile than it would be if he or she were single and alone. The higher your emotional value the more likely that a man or woman will want to spend more time with you and explore the possibilities of a relationship. If you are perceived as having very low emotional value (or are an emotional risk) you end up not being worth the effort.

Unfortunately most of the time, many men and women are too preoccupied with the superficial “feelings’ of physical attraction that they fail to recognize the more elementary, more significant inner process. You think you have the whole physical, mental and financial package and hit it off great but you get rejected for reasons “you don’t understand”. And if you ask him or her if there is something about you that they are unsure of, he/she’ll probably tell you everything about you is okay but you suspect that is not true because he or she is stalling.

If you know what your emotional value to the opposite sex is, you can figure out how to “help” them “see” why and how life with you is more interesting and worthwhile than life without you. This lays a foundation for emotional connection and intimacy.

But if you don’t know what your emotional value is, dating (and relationships) is a gamble - a lot of trying this and trying that. Very often you’ll make an emotional investment without knowing where the other person is coming from or where you fit into in their plan (mistake). You either find yourself being put on eternal “hold” or getting hurt.

Directv And Dish Network Special Promotional Packages

A great thing about satellite television is that two different companies offer it. This lets the customer have plenty of choices for the right satellite television package. It has become pretty clear to many people that satellite television is a better way to go than cable television. However, choosing between the two satellite television companies is still a major decision. Depending on which company you go with, you’ll get access to different channels and different programming options in . You might also pay a different price for the type of service you are after or pay more or less for your necessary equipment. This makes time spent comparing the two companies a valuable exercise that can bring many rewards in the future.

One of the major things you have to be aware of when comparing the two companies is the type of programming packages they each offer and the prices they charge for them. Unfortunately, comparing the prices for each package is not as simple as it might seem because each company includes different things as part of the package prices. For example, Directv might have a higher price per channel for a package, but it includes locals in with the package prices. Dishnetwork charges an extra $5.99 each month to get local channels. You will also find difference in the price charged for access to equipment like digital video recorders, high definition receivers, and other advanced equipment. If you want more than one receiver you will also find a difference in cost. Dishnetwork includes all receiver within one house for free, while Directv levies an extra charge for more than one.

Direct TV Deals has three main programming packages with some variations. Total Choice is the entry-level package with 140 channels including locals and XM satellite radio. Total Choice Xtra is the middle level package with 185 channels. This package is also available in a Plus version that provides DVR service, or a Plus HD version that also provides HD access. Directv’s ultimate package is the Total Choice Premier, which has over 250 channels. This package includes a Sports pack with over 30 channels and the HBO, Starz, Cinemax, and Showtime movie packages.

Dish Network has a different package selection. Theirs starts at 100 channels in America’s Top 100. From there, it increases dramatically to 200 channels with the Top 200. At the Top 250 level, you get access to all the general entertainment channels possible and at the America’s Everything Package level, you also get access to the premium movie channels. Some packages have specials that let you choose a premium movie channel at a lower level, and Dishnetwork’s DishDVR Advantage package lets you get DVR access included along with a 200 channel package.

As you can see, each company has a different selection of package sizes and choices, but there are also other differences. High definition television is becoming more popular and you will find an assortment of HDTV channels through either company. Currently Dishnetwork has 31 HDTV channels in a package that can be added on to any other programming package. Directtv has about 11 HDTV channels that are available through Total Choice Plus HD or as an individual add-on. Both companies can get you access to your local channels in high definition where they are available.

The presence of two satellite television companies makes it more difficult to make a decision about which television service provider to use, but it does provide a lot more choices for the customer. We feel that Dishnet gives you sightly more bang for your buck with the current special deals.

This article is for consumers looking for information on New Direct TV Deals. It provides a resource for finding Direct TV and Dish Network Specials, and any great Dishnetwork and Direct TV offers that are currently available.

How to Enjoy Stress Free Relationships

Until you have released the need for judgment, you will
always have it reflected back to you in your relationships.
This is one of the main causes of stress.

All too often we assume that we know what others mean
by what they say or do without bothering to gain a clear
understanding of what’s really going on. This inevitably
leads to a breakdown in communication and conflict.

The biggest secret to stress free relationships is to master
the skill of being agreeable!

If you think about it just for a moment this makes a lot of
sense. How did you feel the last time someone disagreed with
what you though, said or did? Did you thank them, give them
a big hug and then ask for more disapproval? Probably not!
The bottom line is that people don’t like being disagreed
with. This is what leads to arguments and conflict.

You have a choice every time you relate with another person.
You can either be agreeable in nature and in communication
or you can be disagreeable.

The first choice will cause people to be more relaxed and
enjoy your company. The second creates stress and frustration.

It costs nothing to agree with someone else’s point of view
even if you think it’s ridiculous. Who are we to judge how
another person views their life and the world around them.
Conflict always arises from disagreement’s which then leads
to power struggles.

This means that either one or all parties are trying to prove
that they are right and someone else is wrong. This is a no win
scenario because if one person is made wrong, then the outcome
is tension and resentment.

So what do you do if you disagree with what someone is
saying? Ask if it’s ok to share your opinion. If the answer
is no, then to keep your relationships stress free keep your
mouth zipped tight. Changes topics if you need to or go do
something fun together but let it go and move on.

The next secret to stress free relationships is to master
the skill of understanding.

The key here is to learn to be a good listener. Can you
remember a time recently when you were talking with someone
and they either interrupted you before you finished talking
and started talking about themselves or completely ignored
what you said and talked about something totally unrelated?

I know that’s happened to me thousands of times. Well guess
what, if you didn’t like it I can guarantee you that others
won’t like it if you do it to them.

By listening attentively to what others say and not
interrupting you will prevent the possibility of causing
stress and tension in your relationships because the people
you are communicating with will feel seen and heard.

This builds trust and respect which are two of the most important
ingredients of a happy, healthy and productive relationship.

Here are 4 keys to master the skill of understanding…

1. Don’t interrupt unless you have something urgent to

attend to. Then excuse yourself politely and make a time to

meet with them that you can give your undivided attention.

2. Look them in the eye and keep your body language open

3. Only ask questions that are relevant to the topic. This

lets the person who is talking know that you are really

listening to them.

4. Never assume you know what someone means, always ask for

clarity before sharing you’re opinion. Don’t be afraid to

keep asking questions until you are 100% sure about what is

being said.

The only time to try and get others to understand you is
after you have understood them. Then they are more receptive
to what you have to say. This skill is one of the most
important in building good bonds between people that are
stress free. There is nothing more powerful than letting
others know that they matter.

Happy, healthy and stress free relationships are no
accident. They are skillfully developed over time by people
who care about people. These secrets will only work if you
apply them.

The more you apply them, the less stress you’ll have in relationships.
I know this for a fact because they have been working for me for
more than 15 years.
