You can save your bridesmaids a lot of money and despair by giving them a designer looking dress for a fraction of the price. First, start with a plain solid color dress and then try some of the following suggestions:

1. See if a print shop will embroider silk flowers down one side of the dress. Not as expensive as it may seem. Probably a one-time setup fee of $50 to $75 but then only a few dollars per dress depending on the number of stitches. If you know of someone who owns a sewing machine that also does embroidery, even better. Think of ivory and light pink flowers on a chocolate brown dress.

2. Embellish the neckline of a black dress with ostrich feathers for an elegant nighttime wedding.

3. Place a simple, large colorful flower at the opening of a V-neck dress, like actress Jennifer Connelly did for the 2002 Academy Awards.

4. Take embroidered floral silk trim, usually $5 to $10 a yard, and use it to create a stylish waistband on the dress. Perfect for an empire waist dress.

5. Buy a beautiful 1 ½” satin ribbon and tie it in a bow around the waist, with the bow either in the back or at the side, cascading down a few feet. This would work well on an A-line dress.

6. Create an “apron” of chiffon in a coordinating color to the dress. Tie the “apron” around the waist of the dress for extra embellishment. Works best with a gown that gathers at the waist. The apron should be the same length as the dress with the bow in front.

7. Take pearl or beaded trim, anywhere from $12 to $30 a yard, and line the bottom of the sleeves and neckline of the dress. Great to use pearl trim on a pastel colored satin dress.

8. An extravagant but inexpensive large costume brooch would also dress up a gown if placed at the bottom of a V-neck.

9. Take a backless dress and have three strings of costume pearl necklaces, about 18″, 24″ and 30″ long, fall down the back of the dress (wear them backwards).

10. Long silk gloves, wraps, even a faux fur shrug with a satin tie are other ways to inexpensively take the attention away from a plain dress.

If you are looking for a MLB future bet with great value look no further than the Toronto Blue Jays at +578 to win the AL East. Toronto is the real deal this season and they have done this under the radar since the vast majority are focused on the Yankees and Red Sox in the AL East. The Blue Jays have added some nice arms into the rotation this season and even strengthened their bats adding Frank Thomas as DH as well as a very good contact hitter (Royce Clayton). When you look up and down this Blue Jays line-up there simply are no weak spots.

Rios had an awesome start to the season last year until June.28 when he was in the sidelined with a staph infection which he never recovered 100% from until the off season. Rios was batting .330 with 15 homers and 53 RBI’s before he was sidelined. (Can you say MVP) Rios has looked solid this pre-season and he is back in true form putting on shows at batting practice as fans and teammates look on amazed at the raw talent he has.

The Blue Jays had no problem getting runs last season and now they even have a stronger line-up coming into this season. The Blue Jays problem last year was in the pitching department so they went out and got some guys that can get 10+ wins to take over Ted Lilly’s spot in the rotation. Ohka has looked solid this pre-season and Chacin has also looked great. The Toronto Blue Jays should be just fine this season getting the ball to Ryan unlike last season when they blew too many leads. If the Doc and Burnett stay healthy this Toronto team could do some serious damage this season.

I must say this is my favorite time of the year since there is so much money to be made betting baseball. There is so much more value betting baseball than any other sport since momentum only lasts as long as the starter for the next game.

All of my relationships have changed since I began studying the Enneagram. Most have gotten much better, some of just changed, and some I’ve decided to end because they weren’t serving the purpose they were meant to. Based on the experience I had with understanding others through the Enneagram, I’m going to show you the four steps you can use to understand friends, family, and colleagues better.

4 Steps to Better Relationships Through the Enneagram:

1. Determine your own type and the type of the person whom you wish to understand better.

It is my hope that you know your type already and at least have some understanding of the Enneagram. If not, I would suggest looking at an overview of the Enneagram and the nine types. You should get yourself acquainted with the nine types and your own type before you attempt to understand someone else better. As with most types of personal development… an ounce of self-understanding is a pound of understanding others.

If you are truly stumped with finding your own type, I would suggest trying a free Enneagram type test. These are not 100% perfect, but they can usually peg someone to one or two types and you can take it from there.

2. Look at the fears and desires & key motivations of the type you are hoping to understand more.

On Wikipedia, you can take a close look at the fears and desires of the type you are looking to understand more. For instance, if that person happened to be an Enneagram Type 7, their fears and desires would look like this:

“Basic Fear: Of being deprived and in pain

Basic Desire: To be satisfied and content-to have their needs fulfilled

Key Motivations: Want to maintain their freedom and happiness, to avoid missing out on worthwhile experiences, to keep themselves excited and occupied, to avoid and discharge pain.”

Taking a close look at this will give you some insight into a problem you might be having or a way to avoid future problems. Enneagram Type 7’s are infamous for being afraid they are going to be left out of the fun or stuck in a boring place without a way out. That may seem a little dramatic, of course, but it’s true. So, if you are an office manager, it would be unlikely that your office’s Enneagram Type 7 would be the best person to man the phones all day. The seven would be more suited to be out on sales calls or mowing the lawn. Think excitement, short attention span, not really an anchor. (Dear 7’s, don’t take this personally, I’m a 7 too…)

3. Look at your type compatibility.

The Enneagram Institute offers a great type compatibility chart. Google “Enneagram Institute Type Compatibility Chart” and head on over. You can select your own type and the type you are looking to understand better. To continue with our example from above: Let’s assume that the office manager is a type 3 and the worker is still a type 7, here is a part of the compatibility report:

“This is a highly complementary pair: both types are self-assertive, have high energy, and are outgoing and capable of being around people with relative ease. Both types bring optimism, a future orientation, the sense of possibility and renewal to their relationships and to enterprises they become involved with. Threes can work alone more easily than Sevens, although both are stimulated by interacting with people and both can be excellent communicators of their ideas and values. Both are persuasive and articulate, often lively and attractive, making them sought after company. Both have a youthful orientation such that they feed off of each other’s energy: no other couple is as vivacious or gregarious as the Three/Seven couple. This is probably the highest energy combination of types and they wholeheartedly engage in lots of activities, plans and projects, with the emphasis on attaining the good life. The focus is on sociability, going out, having adventures together and on realizing possibilities and on finding personal fulfillment. “

4. Use this for good only, not evil.

Once you get a grasp on all of this, you have a lot of inside information into people’s motivations. You also get a lot of perspective on how you work with others. It’s a lot of responsibility. Don’t go abusing your power and manipulating situations. Be good, and the study of the Enneagram can bring a lot of clarity and peace to your relationships.

Are you living the life of your dreams? If not, you may be missing out on one of the most important ingredients for your success…

You hold the key to your happiness. That’s not a platitude or hokey "new age" statement. It’s the truth. Happiness is a choice, like everything else. You are free to choose a life of joy, abundance and love, or you can choose a life of misery, poverty and loneliness. You are the only one who makes your life come true. (You and Law of Attraction, that is.)

I know a man who has had more blind dates than the gross national product…but he can’t find one to marry. Why? He complains to me (and the Universe), over and over again, that there are no women "out there" for him. I hear him…and so does the Universe, who continues to deliver exactly what he is asking for – no woman to marry! (By the way, this same fellow believes there are no jobs "out there" for him that pay enough or have enough prestige. Guess what? Yep, that’s right…he spends months in between consulting contracts, complaining to everyone he knows.)

What does Law of Attraction have to do with it? Everything! The Universe (some call it God, Source, All-That-Is, Spirit, etc.) answers each and every message we send to it, but not in the way we might have learned while we were growing up. Whatever signal we are sending out vibrationally is what gets answered. Do you think you’re a loser or a winner? Either way, you’re right! Do you see yourself as someone who is lucky or someone who is unlucky? Again, right you are!

Getting the hang of Law of Attraction is not as hard as you might think. Basically, you need to start paying attention to how you feel. How you really feel. Forget what you’ve been taught, forget what everyone else tells you to feel, forget what you think you should feel.

For many of us, it’s easier said than done to even have an inkling of what we’re feeling. So to simplify the process, we’re only going to concentrate on two feelings: good and bad. There are all kinds of names for them but they generally fall into those two categories. And all we need to do to claim our power is to pay attention to how we feel about any given subject. Does the thought make you smile inside? Or does your stomach clench at the thought?

Let’s say the thought doesn’t feel too good. Once you notice, turn your attention to something else that does feel good. Try to find a thought that feels a little better instead of giving any more attention to the negative thought.

If you can’t find a thought that feels better – take a few deep breaths or play with your dog or take a walk or do anything you can think of that lifts your spirits. Even for a moment.

Here’s an example: A dear friend of mine was having some irregular heartbeats. Of course, we were both frightened at the thought of it. While he was at the doctor’s office, I practiced shifting my fear to a better place with statements like, "He’s a very healthy person and this is probably nothing serious. He’s in very good hands with his doctor and he’ll have a thorough check up. I’m glad he takes such good care of himself." Happily, all was well. And I didn’t spend any of my time in that place of worry and powerlessness.

I have another friend who was working as a waitress. She told me that many of her customers ask her if she makes big tips where she’s working. Fearing that they wouldn’t tip her a lot if they thought she was already getting large tips, she’d respond, "Oh, not very much." And that’s just what she made.

I suggested she change her response to see what would happen. For the next week, whenever someone asked, she’d say, "Oh, yes! You’d be amazed at how much people leave for me!"

It was no surprise to me (though it was to her) that suddenly she was making much bigger tips! Needless to say, she continues to be positive in her response…and now it’s the absolute truth!

I learned a word recently that fits with working with Law of Attraction. The word is "espavo" and it means "thank you for taking your power." Claim your power and live the life of your dreams.

I’ve been sitting here today feeling mildly dissatisfied for no apparent reason. It’s been a lovely warm day, I’ve got nowhere to be and I can just chill out. Wondering why I was feeling blue led me on to considering what happiness is. Many people when asked what they want from life say they just want to be happy. I am one of them.

But what is it? What is happiness? Having money? Plenty of rich people are miserable. Love? There are people who love and are loved who are still not happy. Success? Lots of successful people are unhappy. I could go on with this for hours - happiness is an intangible quality which is different for everybody.

Now, by happiness, I don’t mean spending my days in absolute ecstasy, I define happiness as a deep contentment. The happiest I have ever been was when I was backpacking round Australia - I was skint, often lost, well out of my comfort zone, far away from everyone I knew, and sleeping in dormitories…and I loved every minute of it!

So now I know what makes me happy - having no money, being lost and sharing a room with 16 people who snore. Er, no. So what was it? Why was I so happy there? I think the main factor was the freedom of being a traveller - if I was ever in a situation I didn’t like, I could move on easily, I could go wherever I fancied, whenever I wanted. Marvellous.

Freedom is my top value, closely followed by independence, fun, love and trust. Living in such circumstances aligned me with my values, and although I have no desire to live as a backpacker for the rest of my life, I can live to honour my values. And this is the path to happiness.

Whenever I am not happy, I can trace it back to somehow, my values are not being honoured. Being in a 9-5 job did not sit well with my values of freedom and independence. Betrayal violates my value of loyalty. Boredom stifles my value of fun. So what are values anyway? Values are simply the things that are important to you. For example, justice, creativity, acceptance, leading, understanding, recognition, certainty…the list is endless.

What are your values? What is important to you? Why does it matter? It matters because once you know your values, you can ensure that the way you live honours your values and you will be happier. For example, if you value creativity, you can sign up for a sculpture class and honour that value.

By knowing your values you can also see why you are not happy. Again, if you value creativity and are doing a mundane job, this is going to grate on you. Equally if you value stability and you are paid on commission, this will upset your equilibrium. Knowing about what is truly important to you is important to help you understand yourself and your reactions.

I have a friend who values harmony, and she always reacts very badly to another acquaintance of ours. The reason being the other woman is a stirrer! I mean that in the nicest possible way - she likes to stir people up and question everything. She’s fun, but harmony is not something that happens when she is in the room.

Values are as individual as we are - there is no right or wrong answer to this. By defining yours, you are learning what makes YOU tick, and no one else. Now you know your values, you can work to make yourself happy by aligning your life with what is important to you and reducing the people, places and situations that violate your values. What are you waiting for?

Take 10 minutes to brainstorm the values that are important to you. Think about a time when you were happy - what values were being expressed at the time? If you’re struggling, think about what you don’t like. Perhaps you hate rudeness - maybe politeness is a value of yours? Maybe you hate to be alone - is community a value of yours? Don’t put what you want to value, or what you should value - only put what you really value.

Is there a value which is not being honoured in your life? What can you do to align your life with this value?
