Paul Taylor “Steppin Out” Smooth Jazz Music CD Review

Steppin Out is the latest release from Smooth Jazz Superstar Paul Taylor, and I can only think of one word to describe it… AWESOME!

The CD kicks off with an outstanding track, On The Move, that I anticipate will be heard on radio stations everywhere, and deservedly so. It really is a very nice track.

Steppin Out is a nicely varied, mix of 11 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly outstanding artist.

Paul Taylor possesses the characteristic of being able to bowl you over with his talent alone. The kind of artist I really enjoy listening to.

If you’re even mildly into Smooth Jazz music you’ll enjoy this CD. Overall Steppin Out is an outstanding release. I give it my double thumbs up. You will not be disappointed with one single track.

While this entire CD is outstanding some of my favorites are track 2, Steppin’ Out, track 6, Cantina, track 9, Enchanted Garden.

My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 5, Night Rider. What a nice track!

How Do You Get Your Children To Listen

One easy way is to find quality kid’s music they can fall in love with. It works every time. Learning something naturally is really the best way.

The Body

Did you know that the “listening” part of our brain is the first to grow and is fully functional at 20 weeks in utero? However, a human being has to wait more than 7 months after this before their eyes work. Nature obviously thinks listening is more important that seeing. This is interesting especially now that we live in a totally visually obsessed world.

Learning

There are electronic screens everywhere. Children like adults have different styles of learning - visual, auditory or kinesthetic. Not all are visual therefore if we expose them to good quality kid’s music they will be able to absorb this with whatever style is their strength.

Our Very Own Memory Stick

With each new kids song they hear, their brain will grow a memory stick to store this information. All the while they are using their auditory facility and all the while it’s being strengthened. With each new memory stick, their brain is growing bigger and more capable. Whether they use this for learning music or not, this memory stick is there fully functional for the rest of their lives.

Brain as a Computer

It’s not just the memory stick that the brain grows……using their most natural way of learning, each child gets a faster processor to go with it. Every parent knows that a computer is only as good as it’s memory and speed. More memory and more speed is what we pay for. What’s so amazing about our very own computers ie. Our brains, is that our memory capacity is unlimited.

Physical Sound

Music is one of the few things in this world, in fact the only thing we have that uses both sides of our brain. It goes through our emotions bypassing the intellect so you don’t have to be bright to benefit. Because sound is physical…..it penetrates our brains in an instant. What we get our children to listen to is crucial as this is stored and used for life.

Parents want the best

All parents want the best for their children. All parents want their children to listen. Music is the easiest, most natural way.

Skin Care Treatment for Allergic Contact Dermatitis

Eighty percent of dermatitis is due to contact with substances that are irritating to the skin, but to which one is not allergic. But 10 to 20 percent is a result of severe allergic reactions. This number may be dwarfed by the non-allergic type but, when you consider the billions of dollars spent on health care and lost workdays related to skin disease, it is significant both economically and personally. Thousands of dermatologists now recommend shielding lotion as the most effective skin care treatment for a variety of skin conditions and those with allergic contact dermatitis can also benefit.

The list of most common allergens is relatively small, although a wide range of workers is affected.

* Poison oak and poison ivy affects firemen, maintenance workers, forestry and parks workers and just about anyone who works outdoors.

* Epoxy resins are common in high tech industries, cable workers and electricians, workers who lay tile, linoleum and carpet and plumbers, both indoors and outdoors.

* Nickel affects dental technicians, mechanics, jewelry and ceramic workers, cashiers, battery makers, electroplaters, miners, refiners and those who work with computers, electronics and textiles.

* Chromates also affect anyone working with batteries, arc welders, professions involving paints and dyes, leather tanners and lithographers.

* Acrylics are a problem for printers, dentists, denture maker and orthopedic surgeons.

* Topical medications can be a problem for anyone, but medical personnel and pharmacists undergo constant exposure.

People working in the above fields are constantly on the lookout for skin care treatment that works. To complicate matters, sensitivity to one of these substances can induce sensitivity to others resulting in a never-ending search for skin care treatment products that themselves do not cause a reaction.

The development of shielding lotion was inspired by a desire to create a skin care treatment product to help those who work with harsh, caustic and irritating chemicals. A good shielding lotion bonds with the outer layer of the skin to retain natural oils and moisture while keeping out chemicals. Those with allergies to these substances would be wise to give it a try. It may be just the skin care treatment they’re looking for.

The Power of Questions

As a business coach and a multi-disciplinary consulting professional, I totally believe that questions have awesome power. Since 1982 when I started my professional consulting practices, I have used the power of questions. Questions have the potential to be one of the most effective communication tools available.

One of my most effective and powerful techniques I use in my consulting and coaching practices is asking many questions. I have been impacted very strongly by Socrates and his Socratic method of teaching, which is the oldest and, in my opinion, still the most powerful teaching tactic for fostering critical and strategic thinking.

Using the Socratic method (in a more modern version) in business coaching, I do not give information directly but instead ask a series of questions, which results in desired knowledge by answering the questions or a deeper awareness of the limits of knowledge. As a business coach I can probe the nature of the client’s question, problem, or issue and inquire whether or not we have relevant data and information needed. We can consider alternate interpretations, question assumptions, look at consequences of decisions, etc. As a coach using the Socratic method, I lead my client(s) to think in a disciplined, intellectually responsible manner and aid them by posing facilitating questions.

Why is the ability to ask skillful questions so powerful in business? Questions are the tools we use to dig up information, learn what others are thinking, doing, believing and as a way to compare reality and perceptions. If we do not ask questions, we are exposing ourselves to miscommunications, poor communications, misinterpretations, and we fall victim to assuming we know something (or worse, everything) there is to know about someone of some subject.
What can you do to capture the power of questions? Here are just a few thoughts.

+-Set a goal to ask several questions in all your interactions to improve your performance, build stronger relationships and reduce misunderstanding.

+-Engage in some silent personal reflection to find insightful questions and responses.

+-Clarify and confirm what you understand to be true and use questions to ensure there is a common understanding of what is discussed or what action will be taken.

+-Ask thoughtful questions of each person to demonstrate your respect for them and their ideas.

+-Ask for the information you need.

The Importance and Awesome Power of Project Management in Today’s Business Environment

Why is project management important and what awesome power exists with project management in today’s business environment? The first reasons that come to my mind about why project management is important (based upon more than 35 years of my personal project management experience), are tighter budgets, diminishing resources, more and more time constraints, and competition to improve the ways we do business. The awesome power of project management makes it possible to focus on priorities, track and measure performance, overcome challenges and problems, become flexible enough to adapt to change and achieve higher performance and a higher probability of success in each project.

What do we mean by a project? A project can be defined as an endeavor with a clear start and finish, a set of defined goals and objectives and a sequence of activities. Some examples of projects include constructing a new facility, developing a new product or service, restructuring your business organization, planning a special event, developing a strategic plan, planning a move, rearranging the office floor plan, etc.

Project management is applicable to many industries and organizations. Some key industries that use project management include: telecommunication, construction, information technology, software development, banking, manufacturing, professional engineering and architecture, computers, etc.

What do we mean by project management? Project management is a discipline and a process. It is a set of tools and techniques that define a project’s goals, plan all work to reach the goal, lead the project and support teams, monitor progress and optimize the use of resources (time, people, money, etc.) in order to reach and exceed the customer’s expectations from that project.

What is special about project managers? Project managers need to be very skilled in the management of communications, human resources, procurement, quality, time, cost,
documentation, systems integration, etc.

Project management is very important in today’s business environment when one considers the consequences of the absence of good project management or when project management is poorly applied to projects. Here are some of the consequences that can be experienced with the lack of or poor project management: missed deadlines, cost overruns, poor workmanship, conflicts among team members, redoing work to correct errors, unclear directions for the project, continuous changes in project scope, forgotten key tasks, poor morale of team, duplication of effort, etc. Because of these potential consequences, project management is critical to a project’s success. Effective project management will help: meet or exceed customer expectations, maximize the use of your resources (time, people, money, space, etc.), bring the project to a successful conclusion on time and within budget, document what was done for any need of future reference, and build confidence in your team for future projects.

Optimizing K-9 Health And Performance

Every Working Dog handler knows that “Failure to Thrive” and “Hip Dysplasia” are big issues for Shepherds. But do you know why? Genetics and environment. The primary suspects are- pollution (air, water, soil) and a fast food diet.

“Fully 90% of all disease is caused by an unhealthy digestive system!”

The Royal Society of Medicine of Great Britain

Rescue areas can be loaded with airborne pollutants. Often times, their effect shows up long after any immediate connection can be made. Water contaminants can include everything from, chemical spills (transmission and engine coolant are particularly toxic in small amounts) to bacteria from unseen decaying garbage.

Commercial Dog Food Is Fast Food. Canned or dry dog foods are little more than empty calories, which are very difficult to process. Although they satisfy hunger, empty calories do nothing to support health and vitality. Empty calories are hard to digest. Food digestion is a time sensitive process.

Dry dog foods are extruded under extreme heat, destroying any nutritional value they might have had.
Although you won’t find it among the ingredients, recycled restaurant grease is sprayed on dry dog foods as a flavor enhancer. Yet frying temperatures chemically alters oils, making them carcinogenic!

Canned meats contain meat and meat byproducts unfit for human consumption. Canned meats become rancid quickly. Open bags of dry food attract bugs and rodents who deposit eggs and leave toxic droppings.

Low nutrition food remains in the intestinal tract too long where they putrefy; at the same time it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria and pathogens.

Chlorine not only kills pathogens and bacteria in municipal water, it also kills the good bacteria in your dogs’ gut. Untreated water soon becomes stagnant, requiring frequent replacement. Water puddles are likely to contain numerous toxic contaminants like engine coolant residues (carcinogenic), bug larvae, and pathogens.

It’s bad enough when the family dog gets sick, but when a K-9 is taken out of action, lives may be at stake.

When a dogs’ GI tract is upset, they instinctively know that eating grass and dirt will settle it. Alas, allowing them to do this could actually make matters worse! Why? Today, soil and grass is contaminated with pesticides, insecticides, inorganic fertilizers, chlorine and chemical runoff.
Most K9 Disease is Reversible!

The steps to restore (or maintain) health are relatively simple, and far less costly than vet visits, medications, or health insurance!

GI disorders develop when your dogs’ GI tract is out of balance. You restore that balance with digestive aid supplements, not medication.

The intestinal wall is the gatekeeper. This is where blood dumps the waste products and picks up the nutrients to feed your dogs’ body.

Once the intestinal wall is inflamed, the nutrition/waste exchange is compromised. Until the inflammation is addressed, the benefits of improved diet, supplements, or medications will be negligible! Chronic inflammation leads to immune system breakdown. Herbal anti-inflammatories are natural alternatives to steroids like prednisone.

Working dogs are often placed into highly stressed environments. Routine administration of nutrient rich food combined with bio-available supplements, and digestive aids is essential.

No matter what age they are when you start, you will soon see improvements in mental and physical performance!

Christian Divorce - What to Do When It Happens to You Part 2

Part one of “Christian Divorce” that I wrote got a tremendous number of reads so I thought perhaps I should expound a little further. As I said before I want to encourage all believers out there that are going through the pain and darkness of divorce. Having gone through divorce myself there are a few things I can share here from my experience that I hope are helpful.

1) You May Need To Change Your Circle Of Friends Or Even Churches

One of the big things you are going to find out is the church is mostly confused on how to handle the divorce hot potato. When I say the church I am talking about the circle of believers that are supposed to be there for you when hardship comes in your life. You are about to find out most of your friends won’t be there for you.

If you can find anyone that you can lean on in this time you are truly blessed. Sadly we like to shoot the wounded and avoid anything that may be awkward. If you are the innocent party in your divorce, and even if everybody in your church knows that, don’t expect anyone to treat you with grace and not judge you unjustly. Chances are they will remove you from ministry of any kind until this thing ” blows over” which may be years before it is resolved.

It will be hard finding a church that understands that your righteousness is only because of what Jesus did and not some holiness badge you earned that the church gives out. Somehow you have to qualify by your good works to be in ministry or hold any position in the church where people see you. Now if you do have a good church that is totally mature I stand corrected and by all means stay there and reach out. It is just that It has been my experience that they are hard to find.

Meanwhile they have painted you with the divorce brush even though you may be the innocent party. In any case if this is your scenario it is probably best to consider changing churches or even take a break for awhile. That way nobody can put any flaky judgments on you. There is a big difference between church doctrine and how Jesus handles this situation.

2) Learn to Pray and Hear God Daily

The best thing you can do right now is set aside time daily to cast all your care on Jesus. The more you pray the more you can speed the healing process. I guarantee you God is totally close to you with comfort and counsel to give you hope without any condemnation. Listen closely in your spirit and he will talk to you in your prayer time.

All those court issues need not have power over you to keep you awake at night if you are standing on the side of righteousness. God upholds his word and he will fight for you in court. It will turn your way if your spouse has lied and been less than Christian about certain things.

This is a good time to listen for God’s voice as he will guide you and speak to the things you are feeling deeply wounded about. The many hours I spent in prayer brought me revelation of the things I felt cheated by and gave me new perspective. Work out forgiveness towards your spouse. Time doesn’t heal all wounds, you and Jesus do. As a friend told me at the time ” life does get better” so hang in there.

Most importantly of all find and confess scriptures that bring you hope. You need to confess God’s word to your circumstance and not your feelings. Do this out loud in your prayer time. ” The young lions do hunger and suffer lack but they that seek the Lord lack no good thing ” was one of my favorites but there are lots more that are just as good.

Make Jesus your closest friend because he does have the answers. Remember God is walking through this divorce with you and he is wanting to unfold plan B seeing how plan A didn’t pan out. Your comments are welcome. God bless you.
