That’s right oil, not gold, oil that developing nations need to power up their economies and grow with the rest of the 21st century world. India is a prime example. Unlike the days of the British Raj, when Indian princes and their British counterparts found fame and fortune as hunters of exotic game and precious gems, today these princes are hunters of oil.

While India’s economy races ahead at growth rates in excess of 8%, year after year, its ability to keep up that pace is becoming more dependent on oil and energy resources every day. It has struggled with power shortages, blackouts and rolling brownouts which are hurting overall production and growth, according to a report on Economy.com® by Matthew Cairns.

India’s economy is not dissimilar to ours 100 years ago. Our population came out of the fields and joined the middle class as jobs were being created by new manufacturing industries. With this new found middle-class status comes the demands for perks of life … air conditioners, cars, electric appliances … all of which put even more demands on an overtaxed energy system.

According to Department of Energy figures, India’s current domestic crude oil production accounts for only 30% of its total demand. To take up the slack, India is looking to increase its nuclear power output by a factor of 10 in the next 15 years. India is also striving to increase hydroelectricity generation, which currently supplies around 20% of current power needs.

India does not have enough domestic oil resources to meet the demands for energy. As a result they are forced to import about two thirds of their daily need of 2 million barrels a day.

Part of the reason we have seen oil prices skyrocket in the past two years can be attributed not only to India’s thirst, but also to that of neighboring China, its competitor for imported oil. Between the two nations they import about 7% of world demand at 5.46 million barrels a day, according to PetrolWorld statistics.

By 2025, Indian officials project their nation could be consuming 7.4 million barrels a day … over three times what they consume today. This level of consumption bodes ill for the rest of the world competing for scarce oil resources as well as an environment which could pay the price for increased energy related pollution.

India ’s success at dealing with its growing needs for energy in large part will come from its diplomatic success in dealing with old adversaries. By not directly bordering oil producing Asian countries, India needs a transit system through bordering Pakistan, or access to Myanmar, a geographically strategic Asian source of oil … both of which historically have not been “best friends” with India.

In the hunt for oil, India’s biggest competitor remains China . India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corp. (ONGC) has invested approximately $3.5 billion in overseas exploration since the beginning of 2000 … but that pales in comparison to China’s largest international oil company investments of around $40 billion.

While the two giants are competing for the same prize, they have begun to cooperate and work together on a number of other energy related projects. Earlier this year, as reported by Glenn Levine writing for Economy.com, the two countries reached an agreement that aims to promote cooperation and collusion between Indian and Chinese companies when competing for energy resources.

Investors should keep an eye on this part of the world and its struggle to deal with energy needs. The outcome will greatly impact our oil prices and the development of these giants as traders for our economy. On the plus side, these nations are learning to compete economically rather than on the battlefields of war.

But why don’t we make more use of them? What often happens is we discover lots of different techniques at once, start to put them all into action, then get confused as to which techniques are actually helping us and which aren’t.

So the natural reaction is to back out, and give up on all of them.

Sometimes we don’t even get this far, and find we’re so overwhelmed by choice, that in trying to select the one “perfect” technique to increase creativity, we just freeze up and choose none of them.

Here is just one powerful technique you can put to use right away to help you be more creative.

Used consistently this technique can increase your creativity dramatically. The key is to try it out, experiment and adjust and see how you can make it work best for you. Once you find effective combinations and routines, keep using them and watch your creativity flourish.

Rewarding your creative achievements can help you be more creative.

We nearly always find it easier to acknowledge and give praise to the creative achievements of other people, and stand in awe at what people accomplish in their creative lives.

How many times have you found yourself thinking “Wow, I wish I could be as creative as they are…”?

When it comes to our own creative achievements though, most of us suddenly developed an acute blindness to the bare reality.

How creative would you say you are, compared to other people?

It’s highly likely you’ll think straight away - “less creative”.

First of all, it’s dangerous to compare ourselves to others. We are all talented and creative in our own unique ways and trying to emulate others can often end in setting totally unrealistic aims and inevitable disappointment and frustration.

Beyond that, there are two simple steps to rewarding our creative achievements:

1. Acknowledge what you’ve achieved and continue to achieve. Again this is about you and your creative life. Make a list of everything creative you’ve done in the last week, then month, year and so on.

Once you get going, you’ll realise you’ve created a lot more than you realised. And don’t dismiss any smaller creative work and acts as insignificant or unimportant.

Even the daily routine tasks we can inject a little more creativity into, and by noticing our creativity more, it’s easier to build upon it and create more easily, more often.

2. Reward your creative achievements. This can serve both as a natural extension of acknowledging what you’ve created and saying “well done” to yourself, and as a motivation for increasing your creativity even more.

For example you might at the end of each week or month, review what you’ve done during that time, and reward yourself with something that you genuinely enjoy and appreciate.

Or you could set yourself future treats and rewards, like when you reach a certain number of chapters written in your book you’ll treat yourself to lunch at a favourite cafe or restaurant to celebrate.

Acknowledging and rewarding your creative achievements is a powerful way of helping you increase your creativity.

By getting into regular habits of noticing how creative you actually are instead of comparing yourself unfavourably against other people, you’ll soon find your creativity increases, feels “closer to the surface” of your awareness and flows more easily.

Communication and understanding are crucial to every relationship, and especially in a relationship with a teenager. If you are a parent, youth worker, counsellor or teacher, this article contains practical tips to keeping the lines of communication open with the teenagers in your world.

1. Keep Communicating. Even if they do not seem to be listening, keep communicating. Ask them about what they are interested in. If you work as an accountant and they are passionate about music, do not hold a conversation based on numbers. Ask them about their music and why they like it. Listen to it with them.

2. Be Genuine. Teenagers can spot a fake a mile away. If you have an alternative agenda for communicating with them you may as well forget it!

3. Invest Time. There is a quote that says ‘People do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care.’ You could know all about the artists they listen to and the movies they watch, but if you do not genuinely care, neither do they. Show them that you care by doing an activity that they enjoy. Go shopping, horse riding, walking, dancing or to the movies. Take them to do something that they would enjoy.

4. Give Them Privacy. Let them know you are there for them if they want to talk about anything but if they do not want to, give them their privacy. Sometimes everyone wants to be alone. Do not torment your teenagers!

5. Believe In Them. Continually tell them you believe in who they are and not in what they accomplish in life. Sometimes all a young person needs is someone to believe in them and then they start to believe in themselves.

6. Do Not Embarrass Them. Parents can sometimes be offended when their teenager tells them that they are embarrassed by their presence, but think back to when you were a teenager. If your Dad ran down the street in his dressing gown and slippers with your lunch that you forgot, you would be embarrassed. If you were having a slumber party and your Mum came in to kiss you goodnight and you are 17 years old, you would be embarrassed too.

7. Set Boundaries. If you are a parent and your teenagers live at home, you are perfectly entitles to set boundaries on their behaviours based on what you believe. My Mum’s motto was ‘My house, My rules.’ They will grudgingly respect you for it. You do not have to tolerate what they tell you their friends are allowed to do in their house if you are not happy with it.

8. Be Open About Teenage Sex. You may not want to believe it, but teenage pregnancies are on the rise and that means that teenagers are having sex! If your teenager is currently in a relationship, or you suspect they are but they have not yet told you, you especially need to discuss this with them. If you are not comfortable talking with your teenagers about this, pick up a few leaflets on contraceptives, drugs and relationships from your local Doctor’s Office and give them to them to read.

9. When To Seek Professional Help. If your teenager is displaying signs of depression, self harm or suicide, do not deny this or try to cover it up, but seek professional help. It may be that a relationship break up effected them more than you realised, or failing an exam made them feel a failure and lead them to self harm.

10. Respect Their Opinions. Just because a person has not reached 20 and may not have as much life experience as you, it does not mean that they do not have some valid opinions. Respect their opinions, do not brush them off.

1. Pay for use

This is one of the most effective ways to identify whether a site is legal or not. Look for download sites that charge you per song, or per month or per year.

If you see a site offering free music downloads for a certain trial period, then this doesnt necessarily mean that the site is legal. Many legal sites use this as an enticement, so do not be put off by that.

2. Size Limits

A legal music download site generally distributes music from reputable labels and artists. This means that you will not find a wide range of mixes and custom files that will almost certainly slow down your connection, and therefore take forever to download. Moreover, if these files are small it assures the music retail industry that the music site is actually selling real legal music, and not the massive files associated with computer games and movies etc

3. Volume limits

Legal music download sites usually distribute their material on a per song basis. One of the major advantages of buying your music online is that you dont have to spend $17 for an entire album if you only want 3 or 4 songs. Legal music sites will actually setup download limits as well as transfer rate limits. As a result, this prevents dishonest customers from setting up their computers to copy hundreds of files in a few hours.

4. Larger databases, Larger costs

The larger the databases that the legal download sites have, the more it will actually cost you. The other reason for the limited choice is that it is highly unlikely that they will get an agreement from every single record label to distribute their music online.

Established, and therefore popular artists usually switch labels at least once during their singing career. So you might have access to their newer materials, but not the older songs, or vice versa.

6. No Adware or Spyware

Legal music download sites like their offline retail counterparts are getting an actual fee for their service. They dont want to scam or upset their customers by placing dangerous and annoying spyware and adware programs on their computers.

7. Music Only

The fact is that a legal music download site will only have music on it to download. This means that you wont be able to download computer games, movies or anything else like this.

8. Copyright Notice

A clearly written copyright notice should be provided on the site stating:

You can’t judge a book by it’s cover, and you can’t judge a person by their credit score. Therefore, no inquiry shows up the next time someone DOES pull your credit report. Inquiries can lower your score, and multiple inquiries can have a negative impact on your score and your overall credit picture.

How much of an impact? That depends on who’s reading the credit report, and which of the three reports they’re reading.

One this is certain… all other factors being equal, it’s far better to not have inquiries show up on your report. When you use private money for real estate investing, you avoid the automatic “inquiry deduction” in your score, as well as the negative assumptions loan officers often make when they see multiple inquiries.

Try taking your dog for a longer walk, allow him off the lead for a while but when you call him bend down and open your arms when he comes back praise him by cuddling him and give him a treat if you want to, this way the dog will know that he is being called back to you for praise not scolding.
