If you’re hosting Easter this year, I’d like to share a few tips with you that have helped me keep my sanity when I have hosted this holiday.

1. Cook and bake as many dishes as you can in advance. I have an Easter baking recipe that I share with you below that is easy and can be done up to a week in advance. I highly recommend baking your Easter desserts the day before. It really helps me cut down on the stress on Easter day.

2. Organize your kitchen into baking/cooking stations the night before. I know this might sound crazy but I have found it helps me whenever I am making a holiday meal. I put out all of the ingredients for each Easter recipe that do not need to be refrigerated. I put the recipe out and put all of the ingredients that go into that recipe right next to it, along with any pans or measuring cups or spoons I may need for it. I also try to organize them from longest to shortest cooking time so that I know what to start with first.

3. Select the Easter recipes that you want to use a week in advance. This helps me make a grocery list of all the ingredients that I need. That way I can get to the grocery store and get everything that I need well in advance of the day itself.

4. Use or borrow appliances to help make the job easier. I still remember the first Easter I hosted at my house. I must have spent at least half an hour slicing potatoes. If I had just asked to borrow a food processor with a slicer from a friend, it would have made that day so much easier. If you do not have the right appliance for the job or cannot borrow it, find a different recipe.

5. Enlist helpers! The friends and family who have come to your Easter feast are usually more than happy to help out with any small last minute things. My husband has become the official potato masher for all of the holiday gatherings we hold at our house! Those last 30 minutes before your meal is ready can sometimes get a bit crazy. It is okay to ask for help.

Bonus Easter Recipe: Chocolate Easter Nests

These have been a favorite Easter baking recipe of mine for as long as I can remember. I loved helping mom put jelly beans in these for the “eggs.”

1 box shredded wheat cereal (10-12 biscuits)

1 - 12 ounce package chocolate chips

3/4 cup peanut butter

Crush the biscuits so they are fairly fine. Melt the chocolate chips in bowl in the microwave until they are soft. Add the peanut butter to the melted chocolate. Mix together, put into a large bowl, and add the shredded wheat. Put mixture by tablespoon on a piece of waxed paper. Shape each into a nest. Chill until firmly set. Store in the refrigerator. When you are ready to set them out, put a few jelly beans in each nest. It is a cute, tasty Easter treat.

To some people, nothing could be more exciting than winning a hand of Texas hold-em on the river. The adrenaline rush, the thrill of victory…all adds up to a great time. Thanks to national television coverage of poker tournaments on nearly every channel, gambling has made its way into the mainstream. Using an airsoft gun as home protection does not usually come to the mind when thinking about home protection. More traditional is a home security system or a real gun. But let’s look at the negative sides of those two options (there are other things, but I’ll just focus on these two). I first would like to say that the home security system is definitely the best way to go, and the only real downside is the price. You have to pay a large monthly or yearly charge in order to keep the service, and that can make a big dent in your budget. And let’s be real, you do not need the actual system as long as you have the sign on the front of your lawn. If you have the money, the security service is the best route to take, but of course a real or airsoft gun could be used as a backup. The problem with real guns is that, according to statistics, they kill more people than they protect, in the case of home protection. Also, you are supposed to keep the ammo and the gun in separate places, which is worthless in an emergency. Imagine a guy waking up to a burglar, reaching for his gun, and remembering the ammo is in the basement. What a horrible feeling that would be!

An airsoft gun is the perfect alternative to a real gun. While, of course, it does not have the power a real gun has, it still is an effective defense weapon. You don’t need to seriously injure someone or kill them to stop them. However, a spring gun would not do well enough, because you would need to fire multiple times. You may be worried, if the assailant has a real gun, that he would be able to defeat you. This is not true. While it cannot be argued that he would have an advantage, you can still easily “win”. If you shoot someone in the face once with an airsoft gun, they will immediately reach up to their face, even if they have a real gun. It really only take shot, because getting shot in the face with anything hurts A LOT, and the burglar will be stunned for a good while (only a few seconds, but in the moment, enough). This gives you time to run up and give a hit large enough to knock him out or disable him. The airsoft method should be used in conjunction with a bat, to be sure that you completely disable the assailant. The reason you should not use a spring gun is because one, they are not that powerful and would not hurt as bad, and two, if you miss, you cannot afford to re-cock the spring.

I bet all of this seems like a lot of trouble when you could simply kill the guy. Keep in mind that real guns are incredibly dangerous, and as mentioned, hurt more people then they protect. Also, you get into a lot more legal trouble if you kill someone, even if it self-defense. Not to mention, shooting someone makes a lot of blood, and then you have to worry about cleaning all that off your wall and carpet/floor (that’s a joke).

Even if you have a safe neighborhood, something bad can happen at anytime. There are times when you might not feel safe for some reason. Having an airsoft gun can make your home feel safer; it does not have the serious damage capacity of a real gun, but it will work in an emergency. On dark and stormy nights, a simple airsoft gun can make the difference between feeling scared or calm.

The ’silent epidemic’ called gum disease rages on around the world just as it has for centuries. It is has been on a never-ending rampage for thousands of years. “So What”, You might think? Considering that gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss, someone with it is probably going to care sooner or later.

Gum disease affects nearly 80% of adult Americans, according to the Mayo Clinic website. Some estimate the number to be even higher. If eighty percent of the population is affected, then most of your friends have it and the odds say you do too. Yet, you or others that are afflicted with gum disease may not even know it. Age is no protection either, gum disease can exist in children as young as six years old.

Can gum disease be prevented or stopped? Most professionals believe it can be with excellent oral hygiene. But what does it mean to have excellent hygiene? If you don’t spend excessive amounts of time cleaning your teeth and gums multiple times a day, what is the solution?

I’m of the opinion that brushing and flossing alone are not enough to stop or prevent gum disease. Actually, a lot of people brush and floss, I’d venture to guess that more than 20% of the adult American population brush and floss daily. Therefore, I would conclude that brushing and flossing must not be enough to prevent gum disease or stop its development.

Given the modern technology that we have, shouldn’t there be more powerful tools to fight gum disease with? Dealing with addiction is rather difficult to master, but recognizing and knowing the signs will help immensely in eradicating the dependency. Drug addicts may use illegal substances to forget their daily problems and relieve stress. Sex addicts may place themselves in dangerous situations to bring someone home with them. Gambling addicts may steal money from family and friends so they can visit casinos or play the lottery. Those addicted to food may display the signs of eating disorders, such as bulimia. Alcoholics may exhibit anxiety, anger, depression, and/or mood swings.

One of the earliest masters of time-price analysis in trading was the legendary trader WD Gann.

I started off my trading career in stocks and shares and it was when I discovered the world of trading commodities and futures that I heard of WD Gann.

The most important teaching of WD Gann that I personally learnt came from his famous statement:

“When time and price is squared ( or meet ), change is inevitable”
