Bad Breath Remedies - Do You Get What You Pay For?

Everyone has bad breath occasionally. Depending on
the where you look, you will find that at least 65% of us have bad breath
occasionally. A smaller percentage have chronic bad breath. If you
hang around garlic eaters or sleep with your mouth open and wake up with a
coated tongue and morning mouth, you may believe that everyone has bad breath
all of the time. So what’s a person to do? Do you listen to the ads
and spend a lot to get rid of your bad breath, or can you do something at home
that costs nothing and is still an effective bad breath remedy.

What Causes Bad Breath 101

First off, if you really want to understand what will
really get rid of bad breath, you should get clear on what causes bad
breath. Without getting fancy, here are the basics. Bad breath is
caused mostly by the rotten egg smelling sulfur compounds that are created by
bacteria living in your mouth. Not to get too excited here. There
are bunches of bacteria living in your mouth and everybody has them. It’s
normal and it’s natural. The bits of food you have left in your mouth,
along with things like sugars, post nasal drip mucus, and proteins are the food
that these bacteria digest and turn into volatile sulfur compounds. The
bacteria that we are concerned with here live in oxygen free places in your
mouth like the plaque on your teeth and at the gum line and at the base of the
papillae on your tongue. In order to keep bad breath under control, you
need to remove as many of those sulfur compounds as possible and to keep the
bacteria population low. So long as you keep eating and breathing, this
will be an ongoing process.

Bad Breath Remedies 101

What are the real basics of taking care of bad
breath? The number one method for keeping fresh breath is to have
good daily oral hygiene habits. Brush your teeth at least twice a day for
a couple of minute each time. Take time to floss carefully. Both of
these habits will reduce the plaque on your teeth and at the gum line.
Next is to clean your tongue. That white coating on your tongue is a
biofilm made up of a lot of things, including those sulfur compounds.
Remove it faithfully and you will get rid of a lot of bad breath problems.
By cleaning your tongue, you will also make it easier for oxygen to reach the
bacteria on your tongue. Remember that oxygen will reduce the numbers of
bacteria that need an oxygen free environment. Fewer bacteria, less bad
breath. You will never get rid of all of them, but you can keep their
numbers down.

What Is the Best Bad Breath Remedy

This is one place where buying the right products can
make a big difference in how well you get rid of bad breath. If you wash
your dirty clothes just with water, you will get them pretty clean, but if you
use laundry products, you will do a lot better job. It’s the same with
halitosis. It is important to get the newly formulated products that are
out there and not the old standbys. Almost all of the standard commercial
products use ingredients that are either not great for your mouth, like sodium
lauryl sulfate, or that encourage the growth of bacteria, like alcohol and
sugar. The new products that have come out contain chlorine dioxide and
other ingredients that are helpful and promote oral health. They leave out
the harmful ingredients. These new products create more oxygen in your mouth and
will actually reduce the number of bacteria for up to 20 hours. Combine
carefully selected oral hygiene products with a regular routine of brushing,
flossing and tongue cleaning, and then you have a winning bad breath remedy that
will keep your breath fresh all day.

The Citroen 2CV - A Fountain Of Inspiration

When Citroen launched the 2CV (known as Citroën “Baby-brousse” in most of West Africa) at the Paris auto show in 1948, it was laughed at by journalists for being too Spartan. Nevertheless the rest of the French population fell in love with the styling, afford ability, and ruggedness. It was the car that put France on wheels. It would go on to become one of the greatest small cars ever built with passionate fans all over the world. The car used innovative features like an H-frame chassis like airplanes of the time, front wheel drive, fully independent suspension, lightweight air-cooled flat twin engine.

The car used a simplistic approach, adopting many mechanical and few electrical parts. Even the side windows would flip-up rather than wind down; a very cheap, yet effective feature. The roll-up fabric roof allowed for quicker roof assembly and provided open air motoring. The air-cooled engine had no distributor and required no radiator and the accompanied complex piping. This made for a very reliable engine not even the VW beetle could match.

Today this car gets praise, but it is good to know that it med some hurdles during its development most notably word war 2. Prototypes were ordered to be destroyed for fear of German acquisition of the technology, but some well deserving engineers, buried some of the prototypes, preserving what would become the iconic 2CV. Development started in the mid 1930’s, but it was not until after the war in 1948 that the world first gazed eyes upon the car.

Of all the cars in my inspiration series, the 2cv is the one I admire the most; mainly because it was not just cheap, but technically innovative. No other car in history has inspired countless engineers working on affordable mobility more than the 2CV. Its final success as well as the struggles in early development harbors some vital lessons for any car envisioned for a developing country.

What Is RSS - The Difference Between RSS And A Blog

These are questions I am frequently asked: what is RSS and what is the difference between RSS and a blog. The answer is not as easy as you might think, but there is a fundamental difference.

RSS stands for a number of different things, depending on what you read, but the popular version is “Really Simple Syndication”. It is actually short for ‘Rich Site Summary’ and is an XML format used to share content such as items of news between different web sites. It allows you to provide fresh ever-changing content on your website that refreshes itself even while you sleep.

The word ’syndication’ with reference to websites refers to the publication of an item to many other sites at the same time, which is probably where the popular version of the term arose. Using RSS, a website can let other web sites publish permitted content by posting a link to an RSS feed that the content they distribute can be read by other users using an RSS reader. So what’s the difference between RSS and a blog?

In fact originally, RSS feeds came from blogs, and still accompany them in many instances. However, they are merely extensions of blogs, but are a different medium altogether. If you consider a blog, it is a single web page that is a log of a website, in the same way that captain of a ship maintains a log of the goings on in the ship and its course on a daily basis.

What Is RSS - The Difference Between RSS And A Blog II

It can be updated regularly simply to post new pages that have been added to the site, or to provide updates to a news page on the site. Whatever it is used for, a blog simply provides a page that provides additions to a web site, whether it is a news page or a content page.

There is actually no difference between a blog page on a website and any other page. You simply change the blog page and post it on the website.

On the other hand, an RSS feed is an XML format file. The file contains content that can be anything whatsoever, but in website terms is often the contents of a blog page, or any other page on your web site. It is always provided in XML format because it is read by RSS readers called ‘aggregators’ that are formatted by the users to display the content of the XML file in the format that they want to read it.

The difference between an RSS file and viewing your web page directly is that the RSS feed shows only the content without all the peripheral stuff that makes up a web page. Sure, you could use your blog rather than RSS, but with RSS your readers can read a lot more pages in a lot less time. This provides you with potentially a lot more visitors in the time available. However, you are not restricted to a choice between RSS and blogs. You can have the best of both worlds and use both to promote your web site.

Are You Living The Good Life

Now there’s a term that’s been tossed around for years. Back in the Leave-it-to-Beaver era of the fifties, it revolved around white picket fenced houses with crew cut-headed kids, smiling parents and almost no worries. That was before sex, drugs, terrorism, and obesity. Now we have to deal with those issues and the complexity of our technology-filled world. The Internet has spawned a generation of online spam, home-based businesses, global shopping, and a myriad of opportunities, both good and bad. So, in 2007, what constitutes the good life?

Is it being free from want? In other words, is it the absent of something bad or the presence of something good? Do we desire the security of a guaranteed income and relatively good health? Or do we want protection from disease, crime, and an assault on our basic liberties? We all strive for a better life, but we have different definitions of what that really means. Depending on your background and upbringing, it could be a simple as a decent meal three times a day and a roof over your head. Many in Baghdad would relish a safe house and the ability to eat in peace.

But Americans are spoiled and demand more. More widescreen HD plasma TV’s, more cell phones, bigger SUV’s and larger houses. We look at celebrities with their wealth and good looks and wonder how they got so lucky. So we buy their designer handbags and perfume, hoping to look and smell like them. And does that make us happy? No? Then when will it? We should be thankful for the simple pleasures but rarely are. Yet we Americans enjoy one of the highest standards of living on the planet. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in Bangladesh or Ethiopia? You’ve seen footage of starving children on TV as your munch on another slice of a Pizza Hut loaded supreme. Does it ever give you pause to consider how lucky you really are? If not, what would?

Even those on welfare are far better off than most third-world people. That’s why Mexicans risk life and limb on a treacherous journey across the Sonoran desert in 110 degree heat each summer just to set foot on American soil. We offer a lifestyle that they could never imagine in their native homeland. So I ask you once again, what is the good life? Can you honestly be happy with what you already have or do you always think that there must be more out there? It’s human nature to dream and hope to improve their lot.

There is nothing wrong with striving to be a better person, husband, wife, provider, or friend. But you also must recognize when you’ve already achieved a certain modicum of success. And, while you many not be like the Beaver’s dad or have a lifestyle such as the Donald’s, enjoying the richness that life has given you may not be the worse thing that you could do. Actually, the worst thing would be to take it for granted and not realize how fortunate you are. Then the way you are living is for naught and I should know because I’m a father. And, like another fifties adage, Father Knows Best.

Stick To Fundamentals For Outstanding Search Engine Optimization

How do search engines find your website, and how does your website find its way into search engines? Think of it this way, every page in your website is an opportunity to tell the search engines what your web site is about. Even the savviest web developers sometimes overlook this simple rule when constructing a new website.

Here are the five most basic rules to consider:

1) Title meta tag

2) Description meta tag

3) Keywords meta tag

4) Visible HTML page content

5) Descriptive Links

Keep in mind that these are the A, B, C’s of Search Engine Optimization. There are many other factors which figure in the ranking algorithms of Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL and Ask.com, such as traffic, amount of competing websites, and OBL and IBL (Outbound links and Inbound links). However, any good Search Engine Optimization plan begins with the basics.

Here’s what you need to know to build a solid Search Engine Optimization foundation.

Title Meta Tag

Take a look at the first one, the ‘Title Meta Tag.’

Once the page comes up in your browser window go to the top of your browser window and select; View / Source and the raw HTML code will pop up in the notepad of your computer.

Look at the title tag;

A highly descriptive title tag helps to increase the likelihood that a search for any combination of these words — Video Conferencing, Business Phones, VOIP Systems, Virginia — will return a result for this website.

The title tag should be different for every page of your website. It should be short, descriptive and relevant to your web page content. Try not to exceed 68 to 70 characters for your title tag length.

But it does not stop there. The major search engines will look at the next line in your Meta tags, the ‘Description meta tag.

Description Meta Tag

Take another look at the HTML code and look at its description tag -

The description tag is giving more descriptive information to the search engines as to what this page is about.

The description tag should also be different for every page of your website. It should be short, descriptive and relevant to your web page content. One or two short, highly descriptive sentences work well.

So does this all work? Is it worth the effort?

Try the following real time test and see for yourself.
Go to Google and search ‘video conferencing virginia’ or ‘video conferencing virginia beach’. Vicom should appear in the top 5 search results provided by Google.

Keyword Meta Tag

This tag has a different function regarding Search Engine Optimization. There was a time in what I refer to as the ‘Days of the Wild West’ when webmasters stuffed website pages with thousands of keywords. In today’s search engines, keywords work more as a search map for large article directories. This tag helps your website get found within a directory website such as Verizon Super Pages, so it’s a good idea to keep this tag in your website.
Keep your keyword Meta tag short and try to limit it to 15 words or phrases separated by commas.

Visible HTML page content

HTML is the text on your page. Your text should be informative and to the point. Try to bold or bold-underline important words in your copy. Good grammar and well formed sentences count too. If you have a tough time writing great text you should hire a professional copywriter. Your website is your 24/7 advertisement to the world and needs to be clear, creative and persuasive.

Descriptive Links

You should have descriptive links within the copy of your website and as part of your website navigation. For example, if you were selling oversized shoes and your target audience was males the United States, a good link to have in your copy or navigation would be:

Oversized Shoes for Men

Men’s Oversized Shoes

Men’s Shoes Large Sizes 12 - 20

Men’s Shoes in size 12 to 20

Now, let’s say your target audience was more regional — for the Hampton Roads area of Virginia:

Oversized Shoes for Men - Hampton Roads Virginia
Men’s Oversized Shoes - Portsmouth, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach

Further optimize your links by having a descriptive navigation link or link contained within the copy of your web page which links to a relevant page or topic. For example; Oversized Shoes for Men links to a page having a title tag, description tag, keywords and content about oversized shoes for men. Some webmasters refer to this an interior website Search Engine Optimization.

Sticking to solid fundamentals for Search Engine Optimization will make your website climb in the search engines and expose your product, service, issue or cause to far greater audiences.

What Is RSS - The Difference Between RSS And A Blog III

Blogs are useful if you frequently update your website, and also for pinging the social bookmarking sites such as Furl and Blink, and blog search engines site such as Technorati. On the other hand there are some RSS directories such as Speedster and RSS Network. Technorati, incidentally, also accepts RSS feeds in the same way as they accept your blogs.

Using your RSS reader, you can also add RSS feeds to your site that are specifically selected for your niche. This is a great way to keep your content continually updated, which keeps the search engines happy. Doing this also keeps your visitors happy by providing them with continually updated information that is of use to them.

Some information sites offer RSS to users through simple copy and paste process, Medicinenet being a prime example. Using that you can select the type of medical or health care feeds that you want to display on your web site then copy the code provided and paste it to your web page. Hey presto! You have an RSS feed on your site without requiring a reader.

Carp is a good example of free software that allows you to display RSS on your website although there are many others. Rojo and Newsgator are good RSS readers but again there are others. The difference between RSS and a blog, then, is that RSS not only provides ever changing information of the content of your web site, without all the links and graphics, but also provides ever changing content to your website that is targeted to the theme of your web page. A blog, on the other hand, provides a record of your site that can be saved but is not as instant as RSS.

So, what is RSS? It’s a way of keeping your customers supplied with ever changing content, and to help your search engine listings. Use both RSS and blogs and you have really solved not only your content problem, but also introduced advanced marketing and advertising to your site.

How To Strategically Develop Your Ideal Client Profile - From Your Strategic Thinking Busines Coach

Do you practice strategic thinking in your marketing efforts? Do you strategically develop a profile of the clients and customers you want to do business with before you start contacting prospects and clients? If you answered NO to these questions, you may want to rethink the way you are doing your marketing. My experience indicates that the strategic development of the ideal client profile and the development of a most desired client list is woefully underutilized and therefore a great deal of energy, time, talent and money is being wasted in marketing efforts.

It seems to me that if one takes the time to strategically think and plan a list of characteristics to define an ideal client and then uses that as a “filter” to evaluate prospects, the probability of success in their marketing efforts would be enhanced over the non-strategic efforts of thinking everyone is a prospect and chasing too many non-productive leads. You are basically spending some time “pre-qualifying” suspects and prospects before you begin your efforts to approach them. The characteristics of the ideal client will also provide information so you can strategically design your marketing message, contact method, call to action and follow-up.

This is a very popular and passionate topic with my business coaching clients and I have developed a list of the types of characteristics (which is certainly not meant to be all-inclusive) you may consider in defining the profile of your ideal client. Here is a list from your strategic thinking business coach to assist you in your efforts.

1. personal traits (quiet, friendly, spiritual, etc.)

2. geographic location

3. gender

4. age

5. level of education

6. income level

7. type of business

8. size of business

9. business owner

10. business executive

11. business manager

12. type of industry or business sector served

13. personal core values

14. business core values

15 level of openness to new ideas and change

16. personal interests outside of work

17. business ethics

18. volunteer activities

19. religious affiliation or spiritual persuasion

20. general outlook on life & business

Your strategic thinking business coach encourages you to use strategic thinking in developing the definition of the profile of your ideal client. Golf Tournament Planning - A Mini Guide To A Successful Golf Event

The secret to plan a successful golf tournament is organization .Here’s a mini step-by-step planner/guide for a successful Golf Event. The key to success is sticking to schedule, following your timeline and assigning responsibilities to the right people. Planning a golf tournament is much like organizing any other public event.

9 months prior to event
It’s time to sit down and start thinking about the project’s objectives. You also have to recruit a team of people to help you with certain tasks. Who will they be? Who will be your director/chairperson? Choose wisely, then talk to that person about the project. Let him/her help you. This period is critical because you will start building the project’s main base/foundation.

6 months prior to event
After setting the main goals and deciding on the people who will take part in the project is time to create a timeline and set the main date event. Your timeline will be the most important part of your project plan.
It is also the time to decide on several issues like the tournament’s budget, any potential sponsors, your guest stars/celebrities, whether you will create a website for your golf tournament etc.

Now it’s the right time to assign some responsibilities. Who will calculate the exact budget? Who will mail the potential sponsors? who will get in touch with the guest stars? who will create and manage the website?

You also have to decide on the place where the event will take place. This is also important. Talk to your team of professionals. Decide on the place. Then it’s your responsibility to perform frequent site inspections to make sure everything is going according to schedule.

3 months prior to event
Things are warming up now. It’s time to boost your engines. Here is when you have to work on the player’s contracts. You also have to inform the players about the methods of payment. What you need a good lawyer to take care of the contracts and all that stuff. Sign the contracts and have your team prepare the invitation list and mail the invitations. Double check everyone’s got their invitation. Take some time to look at your website and update it with the breaking news.

Time to advertise too. Start with press releases. Check with your sponsors for any deals. Inform all media about the golf tournament. Maybe you should create some video about the event and post it on web or create a TV or radio spot for more exposure. Also newspapers and magazines related to golf. Look for some deals with them. Remember to consult your team before closing any deal.

Select the type of your awards. This is one of the good parts of golf tournament planning. After ordering the awards, meet with your accountant to finalize your budget.

45 days prior to event
By now you should know who will take part in the golf tournament and the members of the guest list. You have already published your invitations so it’s time to make a plan on how to welcome your players and your guests. Talk with your team about the golf tournament rules. Decide on the final agenda. Maybe it’s time to hire a photographer and order a significant amount of T-shirts, shoes, gloves and the rest of the equipment needed.

Don’t forget to take the safety of the people seriously, especially that of the players. That’s why it’s a good idea to plan a couple of aid stations across the area to ensure safety of the people. Also discuss about the tournament security staff.

Do you have any serious sponsors by your side? If you haven’t discussed yet, it’s time to think of a deal that will benefit you both.

7 days prior to event until the day of the event
As I said this is only a mini-guide offering just a plain overview of planning a golf tournament. The main purpose of this article is motivational. I would need 100 articles like this one to go into details so I don’t have to say a lot about the week prior to the event or the day of the event. By now, you should have finalize all critical matters. If you reach this level and everything is working fine then you have nothing to worry about. Don’t overdo it during the last week, save your powers/energy for the day of the event.

If you need more information on golf tournament planning then you can trust this golf tournament toolkit for either beginners or experts. That is, if you want to make profit out of this gold mine business and be able to organize and support great golf events like a professional. Subscribe to the free newsletter and you will receive a free 14-day golf tournament e-course and an original Golf Tournament Time Line Organizer as a bonus.
