So you can not resist the graceful charms of the feline species around and want to befriend one of them? Well the most important thing you need to know before proceeding with your pet commitment is: how to provide for all its necessities in a proper manner and the most important consideration relates to supplying the right foods, so that proper nutrition takes place through various stages of its growth.

You want a healthy, good humored pet to give you company, right? For that you have to take care of what you give it to eat. Remember, your cat’s well being is the ultimate function of what it eats. Just like a human being’s life span is influenced by what he consumes, the same way, your cat will live a longer and healthy life when fed wholesome, natural foods without the contamination of chemicals.

What makes the best diet for your pet cat?

The natural foods make for the best diet for both the dogs and the cats. But what does natural food imply? Natural foods refer to those varieties that your pet would like to have if it was staying in the wild.

So far as cats are concerned, they display an essentially carnivorous food habit. Their system calls for high protein intake. Survival of cats on purely vegetarian diet is nearly impossible. By counting the number of your cat’s grinding teeth, and the number of tearing and shearing teeth, you will be able to get a possible ratio of the protein, carbohydrate and fat content that the ideal diet for your cat should consist of.

Here is an overview of a healthy diet for your cat.

Protein content

An ideal cat diet should consist of 60 % protein. It is better to avoid highly processed, artificial foods. The protein should come from either organic ground beef or organic chicken— raw or cooked. You can give eggs once a week if your cat likes it. Let your pussy make a feast on cooked fishes more than once a week. To add variety, give her piece of turkey or rabbit from time to time.

It will be prudent to steam or boil the meat before you offer it to your cat. Don’t discard the water after boiling the meat, boil some vegetable in it and your cat will just love this meat flavored vegetable broth.

Fruit and vegetable intake

Vegetables should cover approximately 20% of your cat’s diet. Cats generally like the taste of variety of vegetables like broccoli, carrots, zucchini, cauliflower or corn. It becomes easier for you to add variety to your cat’s diet if your cat happens to love the taste of such fruits as melon, mango or apple.

The grain content

About 20% of your cat’s diet should comprise whole grains like brown rice—steamed or boiled. Other grains like millet, barley, oatmeal, and amaranth are also good for your cat’s health. You can also offer your cat the boiled grains in a pureed form.

Last of all; make sure to give your cat adequate vitamin and mineral supplements. It is also important to supply enough amino acid taurine; deficiency of this substance results in blindness. Also add 250 mg vitamin C to your cat’s daily diet

I have found that one of the most difficult business decisions small business owners face is the decision to focus on a target market. The problem lies in the “entrepreneurial gene,” which ultimately has to do with human nature. As humans we are never satisfied. Never satisfied to do just one thing, to sell just one product, to focus on just one problem, to solve the needs of one particular market. I’m not saying it’s good or bad - it seems to be the human condition: we always want more.

When it comes time for the small business owner to determine a target market, my question is: what do you do, for whom, and how? The astounding thing is that most people absolutely know the answer to this question. They know whom they would love to have as customers - but most of them just won’t say it. Why? They don’t have the guts to do so. They’re afraid that if they commit to a market, that they won’t be able to take on customers outside of their target market. They are afraid that if they say they do “A” that they will be leaving some money on the table because they won’t be able to say they do “B” or “C.”

Why do we find it to commit to a target market, or a core service or product offering? I think that deep down it has to do with wanting to be liked by everyone. The moment you take a stance, and I mean a real stance - that’s the moment you will inevitably turn someone off. It works both ways: it could also be the moment that someone falls in love with you. But isn’t that the essence of a good brand? You either love Coke, or you love Pepsi - most people have made their choice and stick to it. The beauty of a strong brand is its polarizing force: I would much rather have people either love what I have to offer, or absolutely feel like it wasn’t a fit, rather than feeling “so-so” about me.

Now don’t get me wrong: I am not above this fear. As a marketer, I suffer from the same malaise: it’s just that I face my fear every day, and I consciously fight the urge to be all things to all people. I know deep down that the truth is that if I do one thing and I do it well, it will ultimately lead to more business like it, and the more I get from that particular type of business then the more successful I will be.

So the next time you experience a business identity crisis - as I am sure you inevitably will, remember this. Visualize your ideal client: what is their core problem and how can you serve them? Now visualize your business offering the exact solution to this client’s problem, leaving a happy, satisfied client who is willing and able to refer you to other ideal clients. Visualize your business growing in the direction you control. The next time you get the urge to take on a client “just because” - restrain yourself and say “no.” Refer them to someone who can better serve their needs. The prospect will feel great about your honesty and the referral to a better qualified vendor and you will feel great exercising your new focused approach.

Massage can be a great tool to help a mother stay comfortable during childbirth. It can also be the tool partners feel the least qualified to use. Here are some tips to help your labor partner be successful at massaging you during labor.

Pay Attention

Massage is a great tool to help mom relax and to minimize pain in her back and hips during labor, but that does not mean you start it with the first contraction. The general rule with labor is to ignore it until it demands your attention. Pay attention to mom and how she is handling labor. When she needs help, then consider massage. Depending on how mom is feeling you may want to try other comfort measures like walking or dancing first.

Also, don’t get stuck feeling that once you start massage you have to continue it until the baby is born. Stick with your massage for fifteen minutes to half an hour and then reevaluate. She may be ready to try something else or to change where or how the massage is done.

Position

Mothers in labor will not sit nicely for a backrub like they do in childbirth class. Instead, their position is determined by what is comfortable at the moment, and that may change as fast as every half hour. To give a good massage you need to be willing to work around the position the mother has chosen. If this means you only have access to her legs, then give her legs the best massage you can.

To prevent yourself from getting exhausted or suffering from sore muscles after the baby is born, be sure to position yourself so your weight is on your legs, not your back. This generally means you will need to stand with you legs a little wider than hip width apart and with one slightly in front of the other. This allows you to lower your arms by slightly bending your knees instead of your back. If necessary, get a stool to sit on or just kneel on the floor. Garden kneeling pads work great for preventing sore knees.

Pressure

Some mothers in labor really like a soft touch. Others really like a firm strong pressure. Some like both, but on different parts of the body. A good massage responds to the mother, giving her more pressure when she needs it and less when she does not. If she pulls away or says it hurts, you are probably touching her too hard. If she says you are tickling her, you may need to add more pressure.

Using your arms to increase pressure will only give you sore arms. Instead, lean slightly forward at the hips using your bodyweight to give more pressure. It will feel better to the mother and protect your body so you can massage her longer.

Pattern

There are many patterns you could use when you massage. Some mothers want no movement, just steady pressure on the lower back. Other times it feels good to have circular movements on the back. Arms and legs tend to feel best when rubbed in one direction, picking up the hand to move it to the starting point. You will need to vary your pattern at different points in labor and with different parts of the body.

Continue your massage pattern over several contractions. Starting to massage after you realize a contraction has started is distracting to the mother. Depending on where you are massaging, she may need you to build a pattern that uses one pressure during a contraction, and then lightens and increases the movement when the contraction has passed. For example, during a contraction she may want those small circles with lots of pressure on her lower back, but when the contraction ends keep the massage going by lessening the pressure and making the circle bigger so you can release tension in her hips as well.

“As the crust of the outer nature cracks, as the walls of inner separation break down, the inner light gets through, the inner fire burns in the heart, the substance of the nature and the stuff of consciousness refine to a greater subtlety and purity, and deeper physic experiences become possible… The soul begins to unveil itself and mainfest itself as the central being which upholds mind and life and body.” Sri Aurobindo was born in 1872 in India.

He was many things before he died in Decenber of 1950. His Yoga teachings are practiced around the globe today and it’s interesting to note that he developed his spiritual path while being incarcerated for a year in a jail, in Bengal.

Through meditation, Aurobindo connected to the web of consciousness that is part of each and every one of us. His awakening came through his thoughts of Hindu teachings and the works of the Indian philosopher, Swami Vivekananda. He wanted to crack his outer shell and reconnect to his inner fire. The fire that is the substance for nature, the universe, and all life. It may not be the path I choose to find my fire, but I can find it just as Aurobindo did, by looking within myself.
As I study different cultures and beliefs the one point that is prominent in all of them is the feeling of association with a higher consciousness. Each group looks for this source in different ways and uses different thoughts to make their connection with this Source or God. I can say that in the beliefs they pursue, they will find what they are looking for. It is in all things, in fact, it is all things.

There is no wrong way to believe, if you are seeking your truth. It can be found in church, synagogue, meditation, trance, nature, or by simply feeling it. It is everywhere and in everything, waiting to be rediscovered by whatever means I want to use. My thoughts, which become my beliefs, will lead me to the union of my spirit and my God.
There is no wrong path, each of us believes differently and that belief is an individual right and freedom. I need no laws to find my truth. I need freedom, awareness, connection and contrast to be who I am.

I live in unity with all life. I respect the beliefs of all life. I create my world through my thoughts and beliefs. I am what you are. Love.

If you love the warm, spicy taste of cinnamon in your coffee or in your holiday desserts, you may be happy to know that this potent spice is not just delicious.

Cinnamon is also a natural fat burner!

The spice has been used for centuries for a wide variety of medicinal purposes, many of them related to metabolic function.

Cinnamon has gained much recent attention for its ability to lower cholesterol levels and regulate blood sugar. The finding, which occurred somewhat by accident at the USDA research center in Maryland, came from a study of the effect of various foods on blood glucose levels. One of the foods in the study, which had cinnamon, had the surprising effect of lowering blood sugar rather than raising it as expected.

They went on to test the specific effects of cinnamon on insulin levels by conducting a study that measured the effects of small daily doses (from ¼ to 2 teaspoons) of cinnamon on insulin levels in diabetics who were not yet taking insulin by prescription. The study found that both insulin and cholesterol levels were lowered in those subjects who were given daily doses of cinnamon over a forty-day period.

The ability of cinnamon to lower blood glucose levels and regulate insulin levels is good news for people who have low thyroid function and need to lose weight as a result of a sluggish metabolism.
Because insulin is related to fat metabolism, people with conditions like hypothyroidism, which can interfere with metabolic function, can benefit from adding cinnamon to their diet to help regulate blood sugar levels.

When blood sugar levels are kept in check, weight loss is easier as well, particularly with respect to fat around the belly. The abdominal area is very sensitive to high insulin levels and, because there are more fat cells around the abdomen, unregulated blood sugar is highly correlated with expanding waistlines.

Since fat cells in the abdominal area are so close to the organs of the digestive system, it is especially easy for them to store glucose, so anything that helps to lower glucose levels, such as increasing the consumption of cinnamon, is a plus for those with a sluggish metabolism.

We Are Still A Long Way Away With Race Relations In Hollywood

Having seen a few of the reviews against this movie, I am a little saddened, but
not entirely surprised.

I think we should be honest here, the majority of reviewers who didn’t like this movie I
suspect were heavily biased in that a lovely pretty young thing like Christina
Ricci,
would lower herself to sleeping with anyone including negroes, and the fact that a negro
ties her up to a radiator, well that just would make a klan grand dragon roll in
his grave
.

Joking aside, I think this movie shows us all a little of our demons, let’s roll
back a few years to 2005,
“Monster’s ball” remember that movie? We have a black woman, whose husband is
executed by the prison guard who happens to be a white man, whose son dies as
a result, and she is ridden left right, and centre by this
prison guard, I believe one actress turned down Halle Berry’s role as she didn’t
want to be in her words “treated like a whore”, guess what the reviews for that movie were?
You know Halle Berry even won an oscar for her role? Of being used and abused, by the
prison guard’s father, and the prison guard for
his carnal pleasures.

Let’s come back to the subject at hand, we have a disturbed young girl, where a
warm hearted black man is trying to
save her from harm by chaining her to a radiator, he didn’t jump on her, he
didn’t make “her feel good”, he treated her like his daughter the entire time, yet I hear this was shocking, people stood up and left the cinema, I certainly didn’t hear about people getting up and leaving during Monster’s ball, afterall the leading man and woman slept together.
I applaud Christina for taking the role, she made a convincing and believable
performance, and Samuel Jackson for his excellent portrayal of a godly blues
musician in the deep south, and all the supporting cast gave a stellar
performance, this movie had a message
which is something “Monster’s ball” to this day I can’t phantom what it’s
message was; there are several Ray’s right here right now right across the world
who need help, if you are truly offended by this movie, then you need to take a
good long hard look in the mirror, this reminds me of the treatment of Shilpa in the media during celebrity big brother.

Before you start shopping for a home, you need to know what kind of home to shop for, which will be determined by how much money you have at your disposal, and how much houses in the area you’re interested in cost. The most expensive house you can buy given your income and savings is called how much home you can afford. When you’re considering buying a house, you won’t necessarily buy the most expensive home you can afford, but you should know what your upper limit is. This way, you don’t waste your time looking at homes you can’t afford, and you also don’t pass up homes you thought you couldn’t afford but which might actually be within your reach.

So, how much home can you afford? The answer to this has a lot to do with your income and the amount of your debt load. Always have in mind that to buy a house, you need both up-front money as well as the ability to make monthly mortgage payments. As a rough rule of thumb, most home buyers purchase houses that cost between 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 times their annual income. For example, a home buyer earning $35,000 per year would buy houses costing between $52,500 and $87,500. There is, however, a degree of variation due to the individual market prices of the area in which you are interested. There are also factors that could allow you to buy a home worth more or less.

The first area you need to address is that of debt; normally, the more debt you already have the less home you can buy. As a general rule, lenders would prefer that your total monthly debt does not exceed about 38% of your income. For instance, if your income is $3500/month then the lender figures your total debt can be $1330/month. But if you already have $1000/month in monthly debt before applying for a mortgage, then you have only $330/month. left for mortgage payments. Generally, you should ensure that your monthly mortgage payment does not exceed approximately 28%-29% of your gross monthly income. Your total debt payments (car payments, credit card payments, etc. plus the monthly mortgage amount) cannot exceed approximately 36%-40% of your gross monthly income. Decreasing your debt increases your borrowing power and allows you to afford a more expensive home, everything else being equal.

The second aspect that improves your borrowing power is having good credit. Good credit helps you qualify for a loan, and it helps you get a better deal (lower interest rates) when you do get a loan. The better your credit rating, the more money the bank will be willing to loan you. Lenders will check your credit record to see whether they’re willing to loan you money, and to see what interest rate to charge you (based on how much of a ‘risk’ they consider you to be). Bad credit does not necessarily mean that you can’t get a loan, but it does mean that you’ll pay a higher interest rate, and you may have to have to make a larger down payment than otherwise.

The third thing that will determine how much house you can afford is how much of a down payment you can put down. The higher the down payment you can make, the more likely you are to qualify for a loan, and the more money the lender is likely to be willing to loan you. Additionally, having a down payment of 20% or more means that you will not have to pay for private mortgage insurance (PMI), which in turn helps you afford even more home. Start preparing for buying a home by making sure that you save as much as possible towards your down payment.

Another issue to consider is the duration of the mortgage that you choose. A 30-year loan generally means that you get to make lower monthly payments, which would allow you to qualify for a much larger loan and thus buy a much larger (or nicer) house. On the flip side, you have to make payments for a much longer period than you would with a 15-year loan, which could translate to eventually paying more.

Finally, closing costs can also reduce the amount of money you have available upfront. You’ll need to either pay the closing costs from your savings (lowering the amount you have available for a down payment), or qualify for a loan that’s a little larger than the cost of the house you want to buy, and have the closing costs added to the loan (which is called “rolling the closing costs into the mortgage”). If you want to pay a high down payment and also pay for the closing costs yourself, it means that you need to save for more than the down payment before applying for the mortgage.

In summary, how much house you can afford will be determined by the money you have at your disposal. The more money you have at your disposal (both from savings, income, and loan), the bigger (and better) home you can afford.

The alluring amber has always attracted jewelry lovers as well as jewelry makers for its potential for creating artistic jewelry. In vintage collections as well as in modern designs you will come across creative use of this bright luminescent stone. Starting from necklace and earrings or finger rings to pendants and bracelets, amber can add a touch of class to all types of jewelry.

Before you invest in an exquisite piece of amber jewelry, equip yourself with some basic information about amber.

Origin

The most interesting part of amber is that it fascinates people from all walks of society both for its origin and its beauty. It interests the geologists and jewelry lovers alike. This is because amber, unlike gemstones, comes from the resins of ancient trees grown in amber forests millions of years ago.

Amber Regions

The largest deposits of amber can be found in the Baltic region. Though amber is also found in the other parts of the world, Baltic amber is the most sought after variety so far jewelry making is concerned.

Color and Clarity

When you are going to make jewelry with any substance, the first two things you have to check are the color and clarity.

So far as the color of amber is concerned, this beautiful gemstone closely resembles the golden yellow color of honey. However, the color may range to rich orange or burnt red to reddish brown. However, though rare, it is not unusual to find amber in blue, green or shades of black.

Translucency is a much desired quality in amber. Depending on the degree of transparency, amber may be clear or cloudy. Transparent amber are found with golden yellow or reddish yellow hues. When the amber is semi-transparent or opaque, it appears cloudy. Depending on their color and clarity, the amber stones are categorized as fatty, bone (or osseous) or foamy (or frothy).

So how will you choose a piece of amber to get your dream piece of jewelry? Remember, while translucency is a desired quality in any gemstone, the inclusions make the stones even more interesting and hence more expensive. Amber with high clarity is expensive; but even more prized is the amber with slight inclusions having unique charm of its own. Depending on the types of inclusions the amber is known by such names as fatty, bone, bastard amber and so on.

A fragile stone

The last but most important information about amber jewelry: due to its organic origin, it is not long lasting. However, with proper care and maintenance you can significantly add to its life span by following these tips:

  • Store your amber jewelry in a cotton lined jewel box separately.
  • Do not expose it to direct sunlight and heat.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals; clean it in lukewarm water with soft clothes.
  • You can apply olive oil from time to time to retain the shine and polish.
  • Amber no doubt renders value to your jewelry wardrobe. Their unique color makes them fit for both formal as well as casual look. Its typical physical and chemical properties make it a darling with modern designers who can experiment with the cut and design of this stone to their heart’s content. With amber jewelry you can also experiment a lot.

Consider making your own fashion statement with an exquisite piece of amber jewelry; online shops are the great place to catch the latest trends in amber jewelry.

What seemed like a typical day at school for Jane Elliot’s second grade class would soon turn into an important sociological experiment. The year was 1968 and the country was mourning the death of two leaders, Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King. The world was a troubled place, the United States was at war with Vietnam and the Russians invaded Czechoslovakia. The civil rights movement was still in its infancy.

The unsuspecting second graders sat dutifully in their desks. The unsegregated all-Caucasian class expected a lesson in perhaps reading or science. Instead Ms. Elliot gave them something that would change their reality. She told the class of innocent wide-eyed children that science had recently discovered that blue-eyed children were superior to brown-eyed children. She went further and said that the brown-eyed children were found to be lazy, untrustworthy and stupid.

What Ms. Elliot did not realize were the ramifications of this little piece of information. She expected some reaction but was amazed at how quickly it took place. The “inferior” brown-eyed children changed their behavior becoming timid and placid while their “superior” blue-eyed compatriots turned bossy and arrogant. More importantly she was surprised at how their academic performance changed. Blue-eyed children improved while brown-eyed children struggled. Even those brown-eyed children who were high achievers struggled.

The next day Ms. Elliot began the class by telling the children that she had discovered that she was wrong about what she told them the day before. She said it was the brown-eyed children who were superior. The behaviors now miraculously reversed with the brown-eyed children exhibiting a superior performance.

Ms. Elliot’s motive for doing this experiment was to explore the effects of discrimination. How we treat others depends on what we think about them. Arriving at an erroneous conclusion about someone based on how they appear or what social class they belong to may actually contribute to the way they behave. What we expect from others is what we get.

If we look deeper into Ms. Elliot’s impromptu experiment we can see that perhaps there is a more fundamental process at work. What Ms. Elliot imparted to those innocent children on that day can be thought of as a piece of information. She did not use a mere random construction of words but words that were connected in a way to convey a meaning. It is the way things like words are connected that is important with regard to information.

The information immediately changed the children’s perception of reality. Reality, in their eyes was now seen within the context of blue versus brown eyes. With their realities changed the children now behaved according to their assigned superior or inferior groups. Even those who were excellent students performed poorly in the “inferior” group just as those who were struggling performed better in the “superior” group. All this because of a little packet of information.

Since Ms. Elliot’s experiment there has been much written about how a teacher’s expectancy affects performance. It is generally agreed that expectancy is an important phenomenon. Expectancy, just like Ms. Elliot’s statements about blue and brown eyes can also be thought of as information. Some studies purport that information is thought to be transferred via subtle cues such as body language and voice inflection.

But can we go even further with this concept of information transfer. Perhaps an argument can be made that mere intention is a form of information transfer. Could it be that intention affects performance? What if Ms. Elliot just held the intention that the blue-eyed children were superior? What if she still treated all of the children alike with the only difference being her intention?

I would conjecture to say that intention indeed does affect the behavior of others. In my own personal experience as an alternative health practitioner I have witnessed others heal when I hold the intention to heal. Researchers have also studied the phenomenon on non-locality whereby one person or group of people can send information such as a picture to another across great distances. Sick people who are prayed for heal faster and whole cities experience lower crime rates when a large group of people meditated transmitting a peaceful message.

Reality consists of a range of possibilities. It is information that narrows this range to just one possibility. In physics this is called the collapse of the probability wave. A substance is in two states such as a wave or a particle until observed by someone. Once an observer is brought into the picture the substance becomes either a wave or a particle. In the case of light, it is the intention of the observer that determines whether light manifests as a wave or a particle. This tiny bit of information coming from an observer is enough to affect physical reality. Physical reality responds to what one is looking for.

The same sort of phenomenon occurs with people. It may be that your intention narrows the range of possible behaviors in others. It does so by transferring information to the system of you and another. The implications of this are deep. You can choose your intentions. You can be a beacon of light, of hope and healing or a source of darkness and frustration. The important thing is that it is your choice. Be careful for what you intend or expect because you may just affect reality enough to get it.

With the rising popularity of electric mobility scooters, more and more people are interested in having access to this convenient form of transportation. With more new models becoming available, there is also more of a market for used or second-hand mobility scooters. If you are considering a scooter, you may want to take a look at a used electric model.

Electric mobility scooters run on rechargeable batteries that can be plugged in, and with technological innovations, the battery life has been extended and these scooters are often more portable and comfortable than gas-powered scooters. Most scooters have an average speed of 4-8 mph, depending on the make and model. Electric scooters tend to be more expensive than the gas-powered models, with many scooters averaging $2000-$3000 new, depending on the features. If you are considering purchasing a scooter, you may want to consider the used and second-hand market.

Even though the scooter is used, hopefully it will last for several years to come, and you want to make sure its in good working order. Plan to have the scooter inspected before you purchase. It is a good idea to make sure the scooter has new batteries, as even the rechargeable ones have a limited shelf-life, and this is often the part that will need to be replaced first. In addition, you should make sure all the moving parts, such as the tiller (steering), and the motor are functioning correctly.

There are many places to find used scooters. Many of the well-known mobility scooter companies now offer a full line of used and refurbished models. This may be a good place to start, as you will be able to look at a variety of photos online to see which ones appeal to you. Most companies will offer a 6 or 12 month warranty, and some will even throw in new batteries.

You may even be able to get a better deal by buying privately, but may also incur more risk. Ebay often has some good deals on used electric scooters, and you may also want to try out your local classifieds close to home, such as Craigslist. You will probably want to insist on an inspection before you buy, as there may not be a warranty included. If you are willing to be patient, and spend some time looking, you could snatch up a great deal.

There are know more choices available than ever before when shopping for a used electric mobility scooter. If you do not want, or are unable to pay full price for a new scooter, its certainly possible to find a reliable used one. Just make sure to do your due diligence and insure the scooter is in good working condition before you purchase it.
