How Data Recovery Programs Work

Power outages, natural disasters, computer freezes, viruses or simple human errors can all be the cause of one of today’s most common technical “plagues”: data loss. It’s estimated that millions of users suffer from data loss issues worldwide each year and millions of dollars are lost due to the fact that important documents get deleted. Fortunately for us, data recovery programs become more and more proficient with each passing year and it’s safe to say that unless the data loss occurred due to some extraordinarily severe events such as hard disk burnout, extreme magnetization and so forth, your data can be recovered. It’s just a matter of having the right tools and the right data recovery program(s). But in order to understand how a data recovery program can help us get our stuff back, we first need to take a look at what happens inside our hard disk when a file gets deleted or “lost”.

Delete a useless file in Windows explorer by using the “Delete” button on your keyboard or right clicking on it and choosing “Delete”. If your operating system is set to send deleted files to the recycle bin, your deleted file will be stored there. However, if you have set Windows to skip sending files to the Recycle bin and instead delete them from memory, the file is completely gone right? Wrong! What is gone is your visible link to that file. Consider your hard drive a website with a link on its homepage to the page “content.html”. When you delete the link on your homepage, you won’t be able to see “content.html” anymore, but that doesn’t mean it’s gone from the server. It’s still there; you just can’t see it from the interface provided by the website.

Another analogy can be made to a book. Each file is a unique page and when you delete a file, it won’t mean that the page it represents gets torn from the book and thrown away. Instead, that page will simply stop showing up in the Table of Contents.

What a data recovery program does is trace back and try to restore the original “Table of Contents” of your hard disk’s file structure in order to find those lost pages. The longer the file structure changes, the harder it will be to recover the lost data and after a while, it will be impossible even for the most complex data recovery programs to get back 100% of your lost files. This is due to the fact that your operating system keeps deleted files in a reserved space which has limited memory capacity. When this space fills up, your system will start overwriting those older lost files with newer lost files. Therefore, a file you accidentally deleted yesterday is far easier to recover than a file deleted 5 months ago. Additionally, it will be harder to recover 100% of the older file, because the operating system may have overwritten only specific parts from it, leaving the rest intact.

Of course, each data recovery program works in its own way and has its own methods of accessing those lost files and rebuilding the initial file structure. However, all of them are based on these fundamental principles and understanding these is the most important step in achieving full and efficient data recovery.

Real Estate Leads - Real Estate Leaders are Followers

You don’t have to be the best salesperson out there to succeed as a real estate professional. You’ve heard it a thousand times before, but it’s the truth: It’s all about forging relationships, and that comes from one simple-but-under-utilized practice…following up with real estate leads.

The follow up system that you create for your real estate leads is crucial to your success. It is important to develop a system that is both effective and efficient. Time is the most prized possession we have and should be spent even more carefully than you spend money.

Your follow up system should utilize many different means. Some people respond to means of communication that other people do not, so your follow up plan must feature a contact plan that includes phone calls, emails, in person visits, letters, etc. Be creative, consistent and persistent. There is no fool proof system. The key to success with real estate leads is persistence.

There are many extremely successful real estate professionals who are not the greatest salespeople out there. What makes them great is they have the drive, dedication, and perseverance to work the lead until they “buy” or “die”.

They do not give up after two emails with no response. They do not give up after leaving 3 voice mail message and not getting a return call. They do not give up without knocking on that person’s door. They are not afraid to call a potential client everyday, stop by their house, and do some of the unconventional tactics to close the deal. They do not ask their sales manager for real estate leads, but rather make things happen themselves, treating every lead like it is gold. They believe that every lead is a great lead. They do not take “no” for an answer. They have the perspective that the sale “begins at no”.

Following up with your existing clients that have their home under agreement with you is important as well. It is important to communicate with your sellers and buyers on a regular basis. Approximately once or twice a week is sufficient unless you are working through a tough situation, then communicating everyday or several times a day would be necessary. It is not good to obsess about your deals in progress because it hinders your ability to get new clients. Once the deal is under agreement let the other parties involved do their job to help get the transaction to closing. A strong working relationship with a mortgage broker will ease a lot of potential stress during the process.

There are as many maps for success as there are agents, so it is important to educate yourself on different ways to follow up on real estate leads and develop a system that works for you. There are literally hundreds of books written by top players in the real estate industry with good insights on follow up. Many of these people relate their experiences dealing with leads and turning them into closed sales.

It’s simple, really. You just have to take time to plan. A plan for the next twelve months is appropriate and would serve you best. Develop a schedule as part of your plan. Know exactly what type of follow up you will be doing each day and stick to your plan when it comes to working your real estate leads.

It is very easy to get distracted, but it’s also easy to set yourself up for success. Put your follow up plan in your schedule and do not schedule another appointment in its place because you will get out of the habit of following up on a regular basis. Treat your follow-ups as you would an appointment, because with real estate leads, your follow-ups today become your appointments tomorrow.

Hiking, Camping And Fishing In Idaho’s White Cloud Peaks

Hiking, camping and sightseeing in Idaho’s White Cloud Peaks is a pleasant way to spend a day or more in the state’s central recreation area. When this unique part of Idaho is on your family vacation itinerary, include this location for a treat.

Traveling northwest between the towns of Ketchum and Stanley, Idaho State Route 75 borders the Sawtooth National Forest to the west and the Salmon-Challis National Forest to the east. To get your bearings, stop by the Sawtooth National Recreation Area office at 5 North Canyon Road in Ketchum and pick up a map or two. A downloadable map and information can be found on the website for the Boulder-White Clouds Council at wildwhiteclouds.org/theplace1.html

Along this route, scores of creeks born in the surrounding mountain ranges add to the flow of the mighty Salmon River, the River of No Return. The mountain pass at over 8,700-foot Galena Summit has an overlook with parking and restrooms. You will want to stop to stretch your legs and to admire the incredible view across the vast valley to the rugged, snow-crowned peaks of the Sawtooth Mountains.

Moving on, you will travel down the mountain highway into the beauty of the Sawtooth Valley between the small towns of Smiley Creek and Obsidian. Just before Obsidian, keep an eye out for Fourth of July Road heading east of the highway toward the ghostly White Cloud Peaks. Appropriately, the road follows Fourth of July Creek for 10 miles to the trailhead near Blackman Peak. This area suffered a severe fire in September 2005, but has recovered fairly well.

The road is a washboard, but careful travel in a high-centered, 2-wheel drive vehicle equipped with backcountry tires will suffice. Four-wheel drive is best. From the trailhead, a series of day hikes and longer excursions can be undertaken. A popular day hike for families and beginners is the mile and one-half trek into Fourth of July Lake.

Campsites are available on each side of the picturesque lake or in more secluded areas nearby. The trout in Fourth of July Lake tend to cruise near the shore, if fishing is on your mind. Head up the inlet of the lake to get a look at deer that usually congregate in the large meadow, and keep an eye out for mountain goats on close-by Patterson Peak.
This area is covered with mountain heather and other wildflowers in the summer months.

You can hike from this point into other areas dotted with alpine lakes and spectacular mountain vistas. Washington Lake is just over a mile from Fourth of July Lake. The trail climbs 200 feet or so and then drops a like amount down to the lake. Fishing is easier and often good at Washington Lake. Try to find camping in a location other than the most popular sites close to the lake outlet.

There are well over 100 alpine lakes scattered throughout the White Cloud Peaks location. Many still lack names. Other named lakes and points of interest include:

  • Ants Basin and Ants Basin Divide
  • Blackman Peak
  • Boulder Chain Lakes
  • Born Lakes
  • Castle Divide and Castle Peak
  • Champion Lakes
  • David O’Lee Peak
  • Heart Lake
  • Phyllis Lake
  • Six Lakes Basin

The White Cloud area is a popular hiking spot with easy to moderately difficult hiking trails. It is picturesque, with the alabaster-hued White Cloud Peaks as an ever-present background. Bring your camera, your own water, good camp food and plan to spend a night or more camped along your chosen route.

Knee Pai - Arthritis - Nerve Related Muscle Pain

On having knee pain, people will commonly say “My knee hurts. It must be old age, I guess”.
Arthritis does set in from the wear and tear from aging but you don’t even have to be old to have knee pain. With normal aging or accelerated aging due to trauma, the cartilage that is inside the knee joint wears out. When there is associated nerve related tightness and shortening of the muscles that surround the knee joint, the thigh bone and the leg bones that make up the knee joint have more chances to grate against each other, exacerbating the knee pain.

The strong muscles that pass across the knee and affect knee function mainly come from above the hip. Therefore in treating knee pain, local treatments focused to the knee may not be enough especially if the pain and discomfort does not improve with local treatments. Thus, conservative treatments should be performed first before using invasive procedures such as surgery since the knee pain may be stemming from nerve related muscle conditions.

The main muscles responsible for knee pain are as follow: Gluteus maximus (S1) and tensor fascia lata muscles (L5) through the iliotibial band. When these muscles are in pain, there will be pain on straightening the knee.

When the hamstrings (L5 and S1) muscles are very tight and short due to pain and spasm, there will be knee pain with straightening of the knee from contraction of the quadriceps muscles.
Pain and spasm of the quadriceps (L3, L4) muscles will produce knee pain on straightening the knee. In patients with knee pain, it is thus important to examine and treat as appropriate muscles supplied the L3 through S1 spinal nerve roots in the limbs as well as in the lower back.
When treating the back muscles, it is essential to treat on the spinal muscles from the neck down to the base of the spine as well as the latissimus dorsi (C6, C7).

Positive Attitude – Keep In The Sunlight

“Do not anticipate trouble or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.”

- Benjamin Franklin

“Don’t borrow trouble!” My sister, Crystal, used to tell me this all the time. I’d call her, crying and what if-ing over something that hadn’t even happened yet.

“Don’t borrow trouble, Hope,” she’d say.

‘Yeah, right,’ I’d think to myself.

Ask anyone, and they’ll tell you that I’m the worlds worst at worrying over things that almost always never happen. And where does that get me? The same place it always gets you, if you’re just like me. Nowhere.

See, the real problem with worrying about things that may, or may not happen, is that you waste a lot of time. All the time spent fretting over the future could be well-spent applied elsewhere.

Keep in the sunlight. That’s how Benjamin Franklin aptly put it. And I agree with him.

When you stand in the sunlight, troubles seem much smaller. It’s hard to worry and be troubled over what might never happen when you have a positive attitude.

Every single day we will likely be met with some kind of trial. These tests are sent our way to prove our strength, agility and character. Without them, we can never evolve or grow into better persons. Instead, we’d stay stuck in the same, boring mind set and live monotonous lives (full of endless worry!).

What does “keep in the sunlight” mean? Simply put, stay positive. No matter what happens, no matter how bad things seem, don’t worry about things that are out of your control or haven’t even happened yet. Stay positive.

Lower Back Pain - The Role Of Hamstrings

Lower back pain is most commonly from spinal nerve root L5 irritation followed by the S1 nerve root. Both nerve roots are strongly represented in the buttock muscle (gluteus maximus: predominant S1) and the inner thigh muscle (adductor magnus: the lower part L5, S1), hamstring muscles (L5 and S1), gluteus medius (predominant L5) and tensor fascia lata (predominant L5).
There are two parts tto the long hamstring muscles, the outer part (has one lateral muscle) and the inner part has (two medial) muscles. There is also another muscle known as the short hamstring muscle. The long hamstring muscles arise from the pelvic bone area known as the ischial tuberosity (this bone is under the buttock muscle and we place pressure on this bone when we sit). Thus the long hamstring muscles come from above the hip. They end (insert) on the leg bones. The short hamstring muscle arises from below the hip from the thigh bone. The long hamstring muscles receive their nerve supply through the sciatic nerve whereas the short hamstring muscle is supplied by the common peroneal nerve.

Whenever a muscle is tight, you must always consider the balance in strength between the muscles on opposite sides of the joint. In the case with the hamstrings, they act from behind to straighten the hip joint (extend) and bend the knee joint (flex). So the strength of the muscles in the front of the hip that bend the hip and thigh up (flex) and the muscles in the front of the knee that will straighten the knee (extend) are important to balance the action of the hamstrings.
Therefore, if the muscles that straighten the hip joint (extensors) are weak, the muscles that bend the hip and thigh upward (flexors) will be automatically stronger. This itself will make the hip extensors (gluteus maximus, adductor magnus) weaker since they will now be stretched beyond their optimal length.

Hamstring muscles do have an effect on straightening the hip, provided the knee is straight. However, when we are sitting down, the hamstring muscles do not have much effect on straightening the hip (extension). The action of the hamstrings will therefore be most prominent for bending the knee. The sitting position with knees bent thus puts the hamstring muscles to become short and tight behind the knee.

The sitting position also puts the rectus femoris and tensor fascia lata muscle at the front of the knee to be stretched across the knee. Since these muscles straighten the knee, they will be stretched beyond optimal length when the knee is in a bent position such as in sitting. This stretch effect is made worse since both these muscles are already shortened when the person sits since these two muscles are responsible for bending the hip also.

The setting for the tightness of the hamstrings at the knee thus stems from weakness of the lower back muscles and the muscles that surround the hip from behind (gluteus maximus, adductor magnus) and from the outer aspect (gluteus medius and tensor fascia lata).

Therefore tightness of the hamstring muscles cannot be accomplished just by stretching the hamstring muscles. Shortening contractions have to be performed to muscles constantly exposed to lengthening contractions. These include perform shortening contractions to the spinal muscles from neck to the base of the spine. At the hip, shortening contractions have to be performed to the gluteus maximus and adductor magnus muscles which have nerve related muscle weakness in the presence of constant exposure to lengthening contractions.

Shortening contractions have to be performed also for the tensor fascia lata and the rectus femoris muscles. Since these muscles have to be selectively activated, the treatment of choice is motor point stimulation using eToims Twitch Relief method.

How To Get Relief From Your Arthritis Pain Fast - Naturally

Arthritis sufferers today are still continually seeking relief from their arthritis pain. There is a little-known natural solution to curing oneself of arthritis pain that I discovered several years ago.

Arthritis concentrates in one or several joints where deterioration occurs. To get the arthritis pain relief you’re seeking it’s helpful to understand how arthritis works. Unlike some other types of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis is not systemic - it does not spread through the entire body.

Cartilage contains chondrocytes, water, proteoglycans and collagen; chondrocytes are the basic cartilage cells and are necessary for balance and function. It’s important to learn plenty of facts about joints and arthritis to help you understand how to treat arthritis better. The cartilage is slippery tissue that coats the ends of the bones.

Aging cells may be a factor in the development of arthritis. The cause of arthritis (osteoarthritis) and the factors leading to the deterioration of cartilage in osteoarthritis is still not understood. One possible cause of arthritis is the inflammatory response due to the over-reaction of the immune system to an injury or other assault in the body, like an infection.

For natural treatment for arthritis make an appointment with a naturopathic doctor, called a naturopath; ask around for referrals. Studies done on antioxidant vitamins question the value of these supplements; it’s clearly better to consume these antioxidants in living foods because they may also need to work with other nutrients present in the foods to work properly. Try avoiding the eight most allergic foods, wheat being the most allergenic; they are wheat, corn, eggs, milk, peanuts, fish, shellfish and some nuts, not all.

Natural treatment for arthritis is usually a better choice because it’s non-invasive to the body. Dried Montmorency tart cherries seem to be helpful for arthritis pain also. For snacks, choose raw nuts without salt instead of lifeless roasted nuts.

Some people swear by morning drinks of raw apple cider vinegar and honey for arthritis pain relief. Keep in mind, if you take a joint supplement it should help do three things — build cartilage, relieve everyday joint pain, and enhance your flexibility and movement.

If your osteoarthritis is affecting your load-bearing joints, keeping your weight within a normal range is important. A study in Great Britain touted the beneficial effects of cod liver oil on osteoarthritis; relieving pain and stiffness, and reversing the destruction of joint cartilage within 24 hours.

Sign up for water aerobics classes at your local community center. If you have pain and swelling in your fingers, try squeezing Thera-putty made for this purpose or exercising with two Chinese chime balls. If weight is an issue, try to use exercises that will help you in losing weight such as walking. Important exercises for arthritis are range-of-motion exercises, isometrics, and some weight bearing exercises.

Don’t just sit there, keep moving. At bedtime try putting on a pair of stretch gloves to help reduce the pain and swelling in your fingers for those of you who have arthritic hands. Even the lightest exercise can go a long way to maintaining your joint mobility and overall health.

If you’re going to go the conventional treatment route and take medications, ask your pharmacist for drug inserts so you can read up on the drugs and understand any side effects or adverse reactions, before taking them. If you’re planning to take any of the non-prescription NSAIDS for arthritis, make sure you understand what bad effects they can have on the stomach, liver and/or kidneys and discuss this with your doctor. Conventional doctors may suggest the standard protocol for your joint pain; they tell you to take over-the-counter NSAIDS or prescribe COX-2 inhibitors, of which all have side effects.

Arthritis pain relief is the ultimate goal - understanding arthritis is a good way to get there. Changing your diet to predominately fruits and raw veggies, like I did, can turn your arthritis pain around almost overnight. Once you understand the facts about arthritis, possible causes and treatment approaches you can take, you’ll be on your way to recovery and pain will disappear.

Do Not Allow F-E-A-R To Hold You Back

Fear has been defined as False Evidence Appearing Real - F.E.A.R.

Have you ever had such fear to do something that you had to cancel an event or turn someone down? How did you feel afterward? I’m sure it was not good. Well, I’m here to tell you a little bit about “Fear”. I’ve heard many times that Fear is considered “false evidence appearing real” and I am going to explain how this is a true statement. Think about this for a moment. If you close your eyes and imagine that you’re standing on the edge of a tall building, in deep concentration, you will actually begin to sway; most people can feel the fear of falling while doing this demonstration. You are not actually on the building but your mind and body make a connection to that fear. Another example is, if you have ever gone to a 3-D movie and was startled when something projects toward you and you jump. I, myself, have experienced this feeling - fear. We know it’s not real, but we have the reaction and feeling of fear. This is considered False Evidence Appearing Real. Our fears can hold us back from doing many things that we can and want to do most in life. Ponder this, think about spiders or bees. How do you react when you see one of them? We know that bees can sting and that some spiders are poisonous but should we be paranoid about these insects? I have a fear of spiders. I remember a time that I made myself paralyzed with fear over a shadow in the corner of my living room. In my mind it became a huge spider and I could not move to get rid of it. The fear I felt was so strong until I realized it was just a shadow. I could not believe how I made myself become unable to move over something that I could overcome and handle myself.

Do not allow any bad past experiences to hold you in fear either. A personal example of this happened when I was in grade school. I had a teacher become angry with me. I was giving an oral presentation in front of the entire class. When it was my turn for the presentation I sat on the desk, I thought nothing of this because most kids had done it before. However, when I became nervous I started swinging my legs back and fourth. I did this during the entire presentation. I was a young child. I did not realize that I was even doing it. After I completed my presentation my teacher proceeded to reprimand me in front of everyone. I remember her saying something similar to “Do not you ever give a presentation while sitting on a desk in my class and swing your legs like a two year old!” “Did not you realize that you looked like a complete idiot? What is wrong with you”? Needless to say, I never did or even wanted to give another oral presentation for the rest of my years in school. This, in turn, caused me to get grades that were less than what I was capable of getting, because I refused to do speeches or oral presentations. As I got older, I realized that I wanted to improve my personality and build confidence over menial fears. I began listening to motivational/self-help books on tape. I would go to seminars and found that I was feeling better about myself. This made me want to reach out and help others in need, like I was. I decided that I wanted to be a Motivational Speaker or a Coach. But I had to overcome my speech fear. I began listening to more books on tape (now they would be called books on CD). The more I listened, the more confident I felt. After listening to one particular author/speaker many times, I decided to write to him for advice. He had advised in his writings that if there was something you wanted to achieve to be persistent. So I became very persistent. I wrote to his office many times before they finally called me back. They asked me “What do you want”? I told them I just needed some advice on how to get started with speaking. I explained that I had a fear of speaking in public, so how would I proceed to speak in front of audiences? Could they possibly help me? They offered me help by informing me to contact a local Toastmasters and see what they were all about. For information purposes, a Toastmasters’ is a great organization for people who are interested in improving their speaking skills, in preparation for speeches in front of audiences. I certainly needed to do this. I located the nearest Toastmasters and attend a meeting. At first, I sat in the background and was too overcome with “fear” that I did not even want to introduce myself. But by realizing that this was just the false evidence appearing real, I faced my fear and within a short period of time I was President of that Toastmasters. This is not to say that I do not still get nervous every once in a while especially in front of large audiences. When I do feel the fear I face the crowd and be persistent realizing that there is nothing to worry about and complete my presentation which gets better with each event. If I kept myself stuck in that f-e-a-r, I would not be able to help people and do what I am doing today. Nor would I be who I am and always wanted to be. Fear “False-Evidence-Appearing-Real”. Its a realization that fear is nothing more than what you make it. And it is something you can easily overcome. This is my belief. The first time that I heard about F.E.A.R., on my motivational tapes, I felt enlightened and now when I feel a bit nervous or scared I think of how false this fear is. This makes me feel better.

I would like for you to try a simple exercise this week, of course, if you feel ready. Think about a fear that has been holding you back from doing something you truly wanted to do in your life or just had a general fear of. And I want you to do it or face it. Make sure it’s sensible and responsible. I am by no means telling you that if you are afraid of sharks to go swim with them. Definitely do not do something that would be deemed irresponsible or harmful to yourself or others. Just take the first steps towards getting over a fear. Pick something small to start. For example, if you are afraid of birds, take your first step by visiting a friend with a friendly pet bird. Slowly going over to the cage and talk to it. Visit a few times until you feel comfortable enough to feed it or pet it. Each time will get better.

Or if you are like me and want to start speaking at meetings but are too overwhelmed with fear, I suggest the following: Locate and contact your local Toastmasters or speaking group and attend a few meetings. Yet another example, if you like someone and want to ask him or her out but you are afraid of rejection, my advice is to ask him or her. Why hold yourself back. You will never know the true answer unless you ask. I would rather ask and be rejected than to wonder, for the rest of my life, what could have been. Just remember that you get one step closer to your goals of being a more confident less fearful person each time you face your fear.

I’d love to hear how you did with this exercise. Feel free to email me or leave a comment.

Prostate Cancer - Your Quick Guide

The prostate gland is located just beneath the bladder and in front of the rectum. Although one man in six will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime, only one man in 34 will die of the disease. About 80 percent of men who reach the age of 80 will have prostate cancer.

Most men younger than 40 are rarely ever diagnosed with prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is normally a very slow growth cancer that can take many years before it becomes deadly. The most common cancer in American men, that is excluding skin cancer, is prostate cancer.

Additional symptoms that may be associated with this disease are bone pain or tenderness, and abdominal pain. One of the most common symptoms is the inability to urinate. There are several other symptoms that may not be mentioned here.

Because prostate cancer symptoms can mimic other diseases or disorders, men who experience any of these symptoms should undergo a thorough work-up to determine the underlying cause of the symptoms. Blood in the urine or semen and frequent pain or stiffness in the lower back, hips, or upper thighs are often symptoms of cancer. One prostate cancer symptom is difficulty starting urination or holding back urine.

Your doctor may use either one or two of the most common tests for prostate cancer detection. One downside to PSA testing is that health care providers are detecting and treating some very early-stage prostate cancers that may never have caused the patient any harm. There are several potential downsides to PSA testing; for example a high PSA does not always mean a patient has prostate cancer.

A chest x-ray may be done to see if there is a spread of cancer. Urine or prostatic fluid cytology may reveal unusual cells. There is a newer test called AMACR that is more sensitive than the PSA test for determining the presence of prostate cancer.

Medications can have many side effects, including hot flashes and loss of sexual desire. Some drugs with numerous side effects are being used to treat advanced prostate cancer, blocking the production of testosterone, called chemical castration; it has the same result as surgical removal of the testes. An oncology specialist will usually recommend treating with a single drug or a combination of drugs.

Other medications used for hormonal therapy, with side effects, include androgen-blocking agents, which prevent testosterone from attaching to prostate cells. In the early stages, surgery and radiation may be used to remove or attempt to kill the cancer cells or shrink the tumor. Thoroughly discuss your treatment options and concerns with your doctor and other health professionals; it never hurts to get a second or even third opinion or more if necessary.

Prostate cancer that has metastasized may be treated conventionally with drugs to reduce testosterone levels, surgery to remove the testes, chemotherapy or nothing at all. The approaches to treatment include: ever watchful waiting to see whether the cancer is growing slowly and not causing any symptoms. Many men simply want the best treatment they can get but what’s important is picking the best treatment for you.

Surgery, radiation therapy, and hormonal therapy can interfere with libido on a temporary or permanent basis. Hormone manipulation is mainly used as a treatment to relieve symptoms in men whose cancer has spread. Surgery is usually only recommended after thorough evaluation and discussion of all available treatment options.

What you can do now is begin to understand what exactly your treatment options are and where you’re going to begin. In patients whose health makes the risk of surgery unacceptably high, radiation therapy is often the chosen conventional alternative.

As new research comes out adjust your treatment your options accordingly. Just about all men with prostate cancer survive at least five years after their initial diagnosis, 93% survive at least 10 years, and 67% survive more than 15 years. In the end, only you with the help of your doctors, knowing your individual situation, can determine the best treatment program for you.
