Personalizing Your Phone With Cellular Phone Wallpaper

As the popularity of the cell phone continues to rise, so does the effort to personalize the features and services offered on its behalf. No longer does the phone just offer communication capabilities; today’s phones provide everything from cameras and personal organizers to video and music capabilities.

Often, the type of phone that we pick is reflective of our personalities and subsequently, we take the decision-making on a variety of topics very seriously including size, shape, color, and features.

Those of us who travel often prefer a phone with Bluetooth capabilities, others of us who need help multitasking prefer those services provided by phones with organizing capabilities.

In addition, cell phone owners go to even greater lengths to personalize their phone - choosing everything from ring tones to cellular phone wallpaper to customize their experience.

Cellular phone wallpaper is that image that is displayed on the screen of our phone. Generally, when we purchase a new phone it comes with a variety of wallpaper from which we can choose. The number of choices and the types differ depending on the brand and model of the cell phone that you purchase.

But the choices of wallpaper do not have to begin and end with those images stored on your phone at the time of purchase. There are a great many images available online for download. Generally, a Macromedia Flash program is required to download the picture from the computer onto your cell phone but it is a process that takes very little time. Even better is the sheer volume of images available over the Internet; literally any image that you can think of is available to use.

In the case of these websites, while there are some sites that charge a nominal fee for image usage, there are a great many that offer these images for free. Some sites even offer the ability to design and download your own wallpaper for the highest level of customization. Design can be achieved in a number of ways including the upload of artwork that you have drawn which the website will condense to make into suitable wallpaper.

For those phones that include cameras, you need only take a photo that interests you to create new, changeable wallpaper. You may wish to take a photo of each of your children and rotate the wallpaper daily or a picture of a place that you particularly love so as to always carry it with you. One clear advantage to wallpaper is the fact that you can change it whenever and wherever you want in order to fit your mood - just as easily as you change your ring tone.

The cell phones of today offer us the maximum opportunity to express ourselves on a daily basis; allowing us to display our personalities through the use of cellular phone wallpaper - a changing tribute to our moods and particular place in life.

Need Lightweight Convenience When Cleaning? Try The Backpack Vacuum

When it comes to cleaning our homes, not much requires more physical work than vacuuming. In an effort to remove dust and dirt from our carpets, floors, and fabrics, we are often required to carry heavy, awkward equipment up and down stairs and throughout many different rooms.

That is the reason behind the movement to streamline vacuum cleaners - as more and more lightweight models are developed on a yearly basis and manufacturers look for new and better ways to improve mobility. One such way has been the advent of the backpack vacuum - a light and portable vacuum unit that literally sits on your back as you move from room to room.

A backpack vacuum consists of a lightweight canister with shoulder straps, allowing the user to secure the unit to their backs and still move freely.

Attached to the canister is a vacuuming hose with various attachments; the user can then move from room to room vacuuming different areas of the home as dirt and debris is suctioned through the hose and deposited into the canister. Maintenance, like any other vacuum, includes the periodic emptying of the canister or bag.

This type of vacuum rocketed to popularity with use by those who engage in industrial cleaning - including offices, hotels, and large public buildings.

The convenience and lightweight portability of the model allowed those who were using it to cover large areas without having to struggle with the weight of a traditional vacuum.

But as consumers caught wind of the convenience provided by the backpack vacuum, they also clamored to purchase it. Today, nearly every vacuum manufacturer produces a least one model of a backpack vacuum and sometimes more.

Consumers have responded en masse to the vacuum’s level of convenience and versatility. With the canister on their back, users can cover great space without the handling of heavy equipment. And the versatile hose allows you to vacuum carpet, corners, tight spaces, and under furniture. But you can also reach great heights with the backpack vacuum as the hose will extend to reach walls and ceilings.

For those who struggle with back problems, it is possible the vacuum may actually be quite a benefit. Rather than lifting and pulling a heavy traditional vacuum, users can settle the vacuum canister on their back; the design is lightweight enough that it is easy to carry and the shoulder straps are supportive and comfortable.

The vacuum can be purchased in any retail outlet where you would purchase a traditional vacuum - as well as through online resources. The price is also very much in line with the prices being secured by modern, state-of-the-art vacuums of every variety.

As the vacuum cleaner continues to evolve, giving us new and better ways to clean our homes, models continue to be developed that will transform the way we tackle household projects. The backpack vacuum is just one example of how the ability to maintain our living space effectively does not have to be sacrificed for portability and convenience.

Asian Decor is Calm and Soothing

In Asian Decor both Japanese and Chinese philosophies believe that our most basic need is for space. Our spirits need room to breathe, move, and think with ease.

Keep the center of your room open. This principle comes from the Eastern belief that the center of the room represents the heart of your self and therefore should be kept open to allow the flow of energy to have full freedom of action.

One of the first steps necessary to transform a home into Asian decor is banishment of clutter. It is necessary to strip away all that is unnecessary in terms of furniture, accessories, and material possessions. For Westerners, this is a very difficult thing to do. If you want a true Asian style home, this is the first step.

Asian decor is attuned to nature and the environment. It would therefore follow that materials used in this style would be natural and bring good feelings to our senses. Oriental flower arranging in the Japanese Ikebana style and bonsai trees are often used. Bamboo is considered to bring good luck when used in a home. Water fountains are in use to bring calm and order to the mind

Natural fabrics and materials tend to hold more interest for us. Unlike manufactured products, every piece of natural material is unique. It is impossible to get two stones, two pieces of wood, or two pieces of natural fabric to look exactly alike. Natural materials add a new dimension to a design every time they are used.

Here is a list of items you could use in your Asian decorating scheme:

  • shoji screens
  • tatami mats
  • lacquer furniture
  • rosewood furniture
  • ginger jars
  • items made of porcelain and jade
  • Japanese fans
  • Japanese lanterns
  • paper umbrellas
  • calligraphy wall hangings

If you are truly looking to create a peaceful haven from the outside world, if you are fed up with materialism and willing to part from your “stuff”, if you are attracted to the spirit and philosophy of Asian culture, then perhaps the Asian Style of decorating is exactly what you are looking for.

Landscaping Software Offers A Glimpse Into The Future

So you have decided to finally tackle that pesky yard, and you want to do more than plant some grass and trim the hedges. It is no secret that a well landscaped yard not only looks great, but can add value and enjoyment to your home. It is also not a secret that landscaping is hard work, time consuming, and expensive.

Before you get started it is important that you assess the kind of landscaping that your yard can support, and examine your budget in order to determine the scale of the project. With your findings in mind you can formulate a landscaping plan and get to work. A good plan is important in landscaping because it is difficult to envision the finished product before you start, and it is even more difficult to undo finished work if the finished job does not look like you had envisioned.

That is where landscaping software steps in; it allows you to combine all the elements of your plan and show you how it will look, all before you shovel your first grain of dirt. Modern landscaping software has power that was unimaginable only a few short years ago. Nearly every element of landscape design can be planned, executed, and tested using landscaping software.

Using the software often starts by importing digital photographs of your home onto your computer. Those photographs become the canvas on which you can test your creative landscaping ideas. The landscaping software can often convert the photograph of your home into a three dimensional image where you can “walk or fly” through or around your home in order to see the finished product before you even start. The ability to see the finished product adds an obvious appeal to landscaping software, but the way the software assists you in getting to that end is what makes it truly amazing.

The features contained in modern landscaping software can help the professional or amateur landscape architect plan and execute a top quality landscape design. The software can help choose the proper plants and vegetation for your climate and sunlight conditions, and it can even display the “zones” of your yard that will be the most and least hospitable for the different kinds of plants. As if that was not enough, many software applications have the ability to display your plants in various stages of growth. You can see how your plants and trees will look the day you plant them, and how they’ll look in ten years as well. Not even your imagination has this kind of power and accuracy.

The lighting options found in landscaping software are also an important tool in your quest for a top notch landscape design. The software can not only show you what your home will look like during the day or night, it can cast shadows on your property in order to simulate your home’s look during every conceivable lighting condition. Using this technology, you can determine the best locations for artificial lighting, and even decide on what level of brightness will best accentuate your landscape’s features, all with the click of a mouse.

Landscaping software can help you plan more than plants and lighting. You can “construct” decks and patios, install irrigation systems, fill a pond, create a cascading waterfall, select patio furniture, and print the whole thing out to show your friends. You can even plan a shopping list to help you purchase your supplies and plan your costs. Landscaping software provides the power to plan and envision in a way that was never before possible, so the smart landscaper will be sure to take advantage of all that landscaping software has to offer.

A New Genre Niche for the Novel

In writing my new novel “The Daemon in Our Dreams” I had the intention of writing a new sub-genre of the novel. I didn’t wish to write a novel with a setting; I wished to write a novel in which the setting was the novel.

Most of us like to travel, to talk to others about our recent trips, often to the point of boring our listeners, and we like to read travel articles and books. Look at the size of the travel section in any major bookstore, count the number of travel bureaus in a city, and notice the number of newspapers that have travel sections. There are innumerable travel websites, travel programs on television and radio, even travel networks.

For my entire adult life I’ve been a traveler not a tourist. I love to take notes on what I see and what I hear. We learn through travel. On an Alaskan tour a female guide said, “There are nine men for every woman here in Alaska. The odds are good, but the goods are odd.” But the male guides fight back in this battle of the sexes. One male guide up there said that he had a tee shirt made with inscription, “Girls, remember when you get back to the lower forty-eight, you’re going to be ugly again.” Another male guide said, “Here in Alaska, the men are men, and the women are too.”

In 1997 I took a ship, the Marco Polo, on a cruise from Singapore to Mumbai, India. Then it became a land tour to Delhi with a stopover in Agra to see the Taj Mahal. On my way back to the states I made a stopover in London—everything as it happened in the novel. Before I left for my Asian tour, I thought up the novel’s beginning and end, the plot, and the characters to fit my plot and setting.

I invented a hook to get readers into my story. In this case it was multiple assassinations, something bloody and violent to get the readers’ attention, to get them hooked. I was going to tell a good story, but mainly I was going to recount my trip to Southeast Asia. That’s why I say that the setting became the novel. The sense of place dominates the book. It is the place that makes the book, and it could not have happened anywhere else.

When I returned from my Asian trip, I had enough memories and notes to write a travel book, but that was not my intention. I wanted to lead my readers into my travel experiences in the guise of a novel. Originally the book was entitled “Last Passage to India” because it contained several references to E.M. Forster’s “Passage to India. The words “last passage” also seemed appropriate to the tragic plot of the book.

In my previous novel Nine Lives Too Many, a terrorist thriller, I used my novel to immerse my readers into the world of my beloved Manhattan. The city became, in a sense, the leading character in the book. The city became the force that drove the plot. The book’s characters could not have existed without the rich New York background.

It’s not so much what you see on a trip, but it’s what you smell and taste and particularly what you hear as you travel. You must be a good listener. You learn so much from your travel guides. You learn their pet peeves, their prejudices, their politics, and who their scapegoats are. Wherever you travel throughout the Pacific, you will hear guides bashing the Chinese. Almost everywhere the Chinese came to the countries as workers, coolies, and became rich and envied entrepreneurs because of their great work ethic. One Tahitian guide said, “The French bake our bread, The Chinese deliver it and sell it, and the Tahitians pay for it.”

From your fellow travelers you learn whether they can empathize with the people they see. You learn if they are well-meaning, feeling, generous, self-centered, pampered, or selfish. Maybe you learn that some of them are the ugly Americans we used to talk so much about.

In 1998 I made a South American trip which included a week in Buenos Aires and a two week trip around South America ending up in Valparaiso, Chile. In Argentina’s capital were the haunting melodies of the tango, the greatest steaks in the world, and a cosmopolitan city much like Paris. On the sea trip were the enormous penguin colonies, the wind-swept Falklands, the treacherous currents of Cape Horn, Chilean glaciers, and so many delights for the travel writer to recount.

I am now working on a novel called “Last Passage to Santiago” which again makes the sense of place the hero of the book. It has a gripping kidnapping hook, three-dimensional characters, vivid dialogue, but it is the setting that propels the narrative and the sense of place that is crucial to the book.

The stories that you hear as you travel are dying to be recorded, and the travel novel gives you an opportunity to share the humor you may come across on a journey. In Skagway, Alaska, a guide brought me to an old graveyard where Soapy Smith and Frank Reid were buried. Soapy Smith was the leader of a gang that terrorized the town in Gold Rush days. Reid shot Soapy and, in turn, was shot. On Reid’s grave is the inscription, “He gave his life for the honor of Skagway.” Nearby is the grave of a woman of pleasure. Her grave stone reads, “She gave her honor for the life of Skagway.”

With my sub-genre, the travel novel, I intend to tell good stories with narrative drive, have credible and believable characters, but entice my readers into the rich and rewarding world of the journey, the trek, the trip into a new world of smells, tastes, sounds, and sights.

Guys! Alcohol Facilitates Erectile Dysfunction - Are You Ready To Give Up Drinking?

Among the environmental factors which are identified as the chief causes of erectile dysfunction, the most prominent one is the consumption of alcoholic beverages and as this truth is revealed here, I expect a terrific impact on this statement from the hip guys belonging to the fashionable circuit of the society! The guys who take alcohol daily for one or other reasons are increasingly at risk of erectile dysfunction for the fact that similar to other erectile dysfunction factors like spinal cord injury, smoking and peyronie`s disease, alcohol intake is no less harmful to male sexual health!

A regular alcohol user, on scrolling down this article would obviously be swept off his feet because as far as male sexual health is concerned all the people who drink are not totally unaware of the link between alcohol and erectile dysfunction and most of the guys indulge in drinking by thinking that the intake of alcohol boosts up their potency and further drives away the inhibition to indulge in sexual intercourse.

It indeed is true that the intake of alcoholic beverages increases sexual desire in both men and women but along side, to a far more significant degree the consumption of alcohol negatively affects male sexual function. The destruction of male sexual function through alcohol intake is inevitable sooner or later with alcohol being proved the chief cause of hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes and heart diseases in men which apparently lead to erectile dysfunction.

Your blood pressure is proportional to alcohol intake and when you fall in the grip of high blood pressure, the blood vessels carrying blood to the penis may be damaged and when it happens, erectile dysfunction or the inability to set off erections required for sexual intercourse is the inevitable result. With heart diseases, high blood pressure and diabetes paving the way for impotency to enter your life, I don’t think that you and your sexual health are safe if you continuously carry on with your drinking excursion without considering to give it up. And then, there is one another hazardous effect of your alcohol intake and this one, known as hypogonadism is the decreased production of testosterone, the male sex hormone and it is likely to occur on account of your alcohol intake.

Giving up alcohol consumption immediately is a necessity to immunize yourself against the onslaught of erectile dysfunction but if you are an erectile dysfunction patient already, you should visit the doctor and think about a course of action to treat the disorder. The FDA approved anti-impotency medication Cialis is a safe and secure treatment for impotency and if the doctor recommends it for you, get hold of cialis and drive away erectile dysfunction from your life.

The writer has written informative articles and pieces on the erectile dysfunction drug Cialis and other issues related to male impotency. For further tidbits on these subjects, visit the website http://www.buy-cialis-online-now.com

Is Bipolar The Root Of Genius?

Almost since the beginning of time, human beings have recognized the connection between intelligence or creativity and mental illness. Consider the way these individuals are portrayed in movies and books, for instance - the mad scientist working day and night in his laboratory, the hallucinating artist who doesn’t even take time out from his creative work to eat. Those with Bipolar disorder are not immune to this stereotype. In fact, scientists and researchers have noted that an unusually high number of creative geniuses also suffered from Bipolar disorder.

Although many of the following individuals did not live in a time period when Bipolar disorder was a recognized disease, specialists who have studied their journals and experiences cited by others have proposed these geniuses probably suffered from the disorder. The reason Bipolar may bring about this increase in creative abilities is linked to the nature of the disease. One symptom of mania is an increase in creative, mental and physical energy. This might explain why these people were able create such works of genius, and why they were able to devote such concentrated periods of time to their work.

These creative geniuses included novelist Virginia Woolf, who brought us numerous first rate novels including Mrs.Dalloway, Orlando and A Room of One’s Own. Poet Sylvia Plath also suffered from the mood swings associated with Bipolar disorder. Musician and composer Ludwig van Beethoven is also believed to have suffered from Bipolar Disorder. He is known as perhaps the most influential composer of all times bringing us masterpieces such as Choral Symphony and the Waldstein Sonata.

Perhaps best known for her role as the Southern belle Scarlet O’Hara in Gone with the Wind, actress Vivien Leigh was also plagued with Bipolar Disorder. Despite the disease and the shock therapy she was given as the treatment for Bipolar in those days, Mrs. Leigh won two Oscars for her performances.

Painter Vincent Van Gogh is also said to have suffered from Bipolar disorder. His most loved painting Starry Night was painted while Van Gogh was in a mental asylum for treatment of his erratic moods. In his own words Van Gogh said of himself, “It is only too true that a lot of artists are mentally ill - it’s a life which, to put it mildly, makes one an outsider, I’m all right when I completely immerse myself in my work, but I’ll always remain half crazy.”

More recently, Axl Rose, lead singer of the heavy metal band Guns N’ Roses has also been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Grammy nominated country and western singer Charley Pride also suffered with Bipolar Disorder. Musician and actor Sting has also made references to being Bipolar. A final famous actor diagnosed with Bipolar disorder is Jean-Claude Van Damme, known for his roles in movies such as Universal Solider and Timecop.

Although it may not always be the case, it seems that as we look through history, some of the most creative people who have shared our planet have suffered from Bipolar Disorder. So does the emotional instability of Bipolar disorder bring about genius? You be the judge.

Sensual Awareness and Sensual Meditation

What is Sensual Awareness?

Sensual awareness is attention to the senses and stimuli obtained from the senses. The terms sensual awareness and sensuality do not distinguish between negative stimuli (pain) or positive stimuli (pleasure). Sensual awareness and sensuality certainly have nothing to do with self-gratification, immorality, or overindulgence. Our senses provide the information by which we base all of our intuitive thoughts, creativity, and desires, as well as our clear problem solving ability. They help us to determine what is right and what is wrong for us far better than any holy book, psychologist, or pop culture. By becoming fully present in our sensual perceptions we become more sensitive to our passions, our inner compass, our personal truth, or what we call our core values. Core values are true and authentic and are not influenced by the values and judgments of others.

Being Disconnected

Imagine a scenario where you are in a job that is unfulfilling and has been for several years. However, on paper that job is prestigious and friends and family envy your position. You know that something has to change but you don’t know whether you should go back to school, start your own business, or change careers altogether. The years keep on passing but you fell stuck in the situation and just continue to have no idea what to do. Or imagine that you are running ragged, between your work, your commute, carting children to and fro, PTA meetings, scarfing down fast food in the car 3 or more times per week, and never being able to start that new hobby or get some needed exercise, then lying awake squandering precious sleep time at night fretting about the next hectic day. You know something has to change because this is unhealthy, you are exhausted, and it is beginning to show, but you continue to make no changes because you are torn between where to cut your activities for some relief and being a superhero. Your mind is racing a mile a minute and you just cannot make a decision on how to make life better. These are two simplified examples of how life can be when we are disconnected from our core values.

How Sensual Awareness Reconnects us to our Core Values

In our hectic culture, many of us are not immediately capable of sitting and meditating with a clear mind for long periods of time. In this instance, sensuality just serves as a different form of meditation that may be more a more accessible means to reconnect with what is authentic inside of us, allowing us to observe our condition from a neutral, relaxed perspective. Often we are either too busy in our daily lives to fully recognize our core values or are too accustomed to letting outside influences, i.e. religion, commercial, societal values, opinions of family and friends, etc. guide our desires to easily make decisions that correctly align or actions with them.

Although sensuality does not actually refer to stimuli that are positive or negative, the more engaging and pleasurable the experience, the more easily we can stay in that place of presence and allow our core values and passions to surface clearly. The key to sensual meditation is actively observing through our senses enough to keep us present but yet not so much as to overwhelm or distract us, and that is relaxing enough to quiet mental chatter. We must become aware of our sensations but without thinking about them. We are giving all sensations, both the pleasurable and the unpleasant or stressful ones, a place to simply BE. Without fighting or ignoring or manipulation, we can just observe them and release them, where they will cease to cloud our thoughts and judgments. Essentially here we are giving attention to our body-mind connection. Sensuality is the bridge between the body and the mind, because all thoughts originate with the senses. Get them working together in harmony and see what miracles can happen!

Getting Started with Sensual Meditation

Although sensual awareness as a meditation may be a more easily accessible form of meditation than other forms, it still takes practice. Here is a very simplified practice to get started:

  • Find a quiet spot and sit comfortably. If necessary, make the environment more inviting with candles, incense, dimmed lighting, or fresh flowers.
  • No need to close your eyes but it helps to relax the eyelids halfway. Begin with slow deep breathing, expanding the ribcage and filling the entire abdomen with nourishing oxygen and releasing the used air and clutter with each exhalation.
  • Try not to think about anything, and as the thoughts arise, just release them and relax. Don’t try too hard. Just go with the flow.
  • Notice what you hear.
  • Notice what you see.
  • Notice how you feel.
  • Notice what you smell.
  • Notice what you taste.
  • Be aware of your sensations and notice a sense of calm connectedness.
  • Continue to experiment with your sensual meditations in various locations and activities over a month’s time.

There is much more to sensual awareness, so you would be cheated if you stop here. Regular practice is needed to experience the full intensity of benefits such as increased ability to think clearly and creatively in all aspects of your life; the discovery of solutions to problems you may have been struggling with; generating more laughter and fun in your life; experiencing increased self-confidence; and becoming more relaxed with yourself and less stressed. Learning about the concepts of balancing male and female energies within; understanding the chakras, and using and playing with universal energy are also necessary to benefit from a rich sensual engagement with the world.

Increasing Awareness With A Breast Cancer Bracelet

Breast cancer continues to affect millions of people worldwide - plunging newly diagnosed sufferers and their families into the bewildering world of treatment plans and statistics on a daily basis.

This year alone, over one-million people worldwide will be unwillingly inducted into this club of warriors. And strong in numbers, these sufferers and their families will continue to affect change in the landscape of awareness and treatment; part of the way in which they raise awareness is through the wearing of merchandise, including the breast cancer bracelet.

The breast cancer bracelet can attribute its beginnings to the awareness campaign, where the pink ribbon first became the symbol in the united fight. The Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation - which began in the early 1980s as a way to funnel comprehensive information to victims and raise money for research - began using the pink ribbon in the early years of its Race for the Cure, the annual run/walk fundraising event that is the signature event of this foundation.

The early beginnings of the pink ribbon were brought to the forefront as Self magazine planned their second annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month issue in the early 1990s. In this effort, the magazine partnered with Estee Lauder to create the looped pink ribbon we have now come to recognize; over a million of which were distributed at makeup counters around the country to coincide with the distribution of the magazine. The ribbon included instructions on self examination and information on how to petition Washington to increase funds for research. The color pink was chosen because of its strong association with femininity.

With the growing popularity of the pink ribbon, came the further development of other pink items to signify awareness. The items have since come fast and furious - from t-shirts and pins, to umbrellas and mugs. The breast cancer bracelet, especially, has achieved enormous popularity as the message of awareness is encapsulated in a beautifully designed - and very wearable - bracelet.

The bracelet is just like any other bracelet that you would think nothing of buying and wearing; but you have the added benefit of knowing that in wearing the bracelet you are promoting awareness and, in so doing, are part of a community that is saving lives.

The bracelet comes in a variety of styles and prices - everything from pearls and crystal to silver and gold. No matter what your style or taste in jewelry, there will surely be a bracelet that draws your attention and furthers the message of awareness. In today’s online world especially, there is a growing number of websites dedicated to the sale of pink awareness merchandise.

This awareness encompasses many different things when it comes to the battle against breast cancer. Raising awareness means increasing people’s understanding of research, prevention, detection, and treatment. But more importantly, raising awareness - through the wearing of insignia such as the bracelet - means alerting those who are affected to a larger community; a community of enormous support and infinite understanding.

Opt In Email Marketing For Small Business

In spite of all the talk that opt in email marketing for small business is dead, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. While spam filters and the overall skeptical nature of people these days because of past scams does make it more difficult to get your message delivered and then across to the prospect, opt in email marketing is still a viable course of action for the small business person. In this article we’re going to give you some tips to get the most bang out of your email promotions.

The first thing you don’t want to do is control your own opt in list, meaning, don’t host it yourself on your own server. Even if you use double opt in, people forget that they sign up for news letters and things of that nature and the spam button that many email accounts, like AOL, include, makes it just way too easy to put in a spam complaint. If you get enough of these, your ISP can shut down your business faster than you can say Bob’s your uncle. It’s just not worth the risk.

So if you’re not going to host your own opt in service, what do you do? Well, the answer is very simple. There are companies on the Internet, like Aweber and Get Response, that handle these things for you. They’ll help you build your list by providing you with a service where when people opt in to your news letter, they’ll do all the mailings from their servers. That way, if any spam complaints come in, they will handle them.

Having said that, you still want to take care in doing your mailings. For starters, you are probably better off with double opt in instead of single opt in. The reason for this is because with single opt in, email addresses don’t have to be verified. Any person can put in an email address of another person just to get your news letter or whatever it is you are offering. Then, if this other person gets any emails from you, they can legitimately complain that they received spam. So please go with double opt in just to be safe.

Another thing you want to do is to take care in emailing your list. You don’t want to badger them too often and give them too many sales pitches. This is a great way to get them to unsubscribe from your list. By emailing them every few days or even just every week, and providing them with good content, you have a much better chance of keeping them around.

Getting back to these services, the reason they are good for small businesses is because they are very inexpensive. Most of these services only cost about $20 a month, some even less. This makes it cost effective to do your marketing with them. Some of these services will even supply you with daily leads to market to. How responsive these leads are will depend on what you have to offer them.

If you are running a small business on the Internet, you might want to look into one of these services. They will definitely save you a lot of grief and money in the long run.
