It’s not often that I find a book where I want to buy ten copies and give them out and it’s not often I find a book for under ten dollars that fits that mold. With 183 pages of gold, Paul Davis an expert author here on Ezine articles brings a balanced Penticostal view of the life of a person who is crucified with Christ should look like. Free of hype and all the sensational language of the penticostal speakers normally have, I found Paul’s book highly entertaining and a book that I stayed up all night to read.

It’s a light read, not bogged down with theology and yet its a book that I can see myself reading again and again in times to come. In fact I have it slated in to read again next week. He takes each of his points and has enough ministry experience to develop the point and has many quoutes from other books from saints that have experienced the fire of God.

Paul identifies a carnal Christian and shows what a backslidden Christian is and encourages each reader to catch hold of the fire and live a life that is pleasing to God. Many people are talking the talk, many Christians have all the lingo, but Paul who has taken Christ’s light into fifty countries is walking the walk.

He is far removed from the modern prosperity teachers, but a gifted teacher he is, who is able to re-inforce a point by repetition similar to how Jesus did. It is obvious that Paul has a real knowledge of the Bible as the Bible is quoted all through the book but I have a feeling that the words Paul wanted to say came flowing out of his hands on a keyboard and he simply reached for his Bible to find the verse he had just quoted. Some books I read are dry with doctrine and with theology written by people with a lot of knowledge and not much fire in their life.

But Paul’s book sparkles with his fire and is a testimony to what sort of dynamic person that he is. He is a prophetic voice that is rare to find these days. Published by his own ministry Puals didn’t need a big publisher to back the book, he simply went ahead and published it anyway as the Lord led him.

In my time I have never written a book review, but I have a heartfelt love for Paul who has really encouraged me in this book. The warriors in the movie 300 were sculpted with ripped abs and a granite chest. It looked as though the muscular bodies were carved from rock or simply cartoon muscle men. But they were real actors, that went through real brutal 300 movie and 300 repetition workouts.

In fact, the personal trainers for the actors developed a rite of passage for the actors. It was called the “300″ and you’ve probably heard about it on ESPN or MTV. Maybe you read about it in Men’s Health magazine. And here it is, the 300 workout…

a) Pullups - 25 reps

b) Deadlifts with 135lbs - 50 reps

c) Pushups - 50 reps

d) 24-inch Box jumps - 50 reps

e) Floor wipers - 50 reps (This exercise has to be seen to be believed)

f) 1-arm Clean n Press with 36lbs Kettlebell - 50 reps

g) Pullups - 25 reps

A man in superfit shape can do this in less than 20 minutes. (I did it 19:07. It was killer. Don’t try this at home).

And many people are asking, how hard was it? Didn’t you want to quit? Well you bet I did. The actors that went through this 300 workout are true warriors. So here’s how it went for me.

The accuracy of my recall for the exercises late in the workout might be a little off - your brain gets a lttle cloudy during this type of workout.

Pullups - zipped through these pretty quickly, doing 16, then 4, 3, 2

Deadlifts - surprised the grip want much of an issue. Went 30, 10, 10

Pushups - the week prior, I was able to do a set of 50 straight…but I was fresh. In my first set, I was only able to get 25. And to be honest, I don’t recall the specifics for getting the next 25.

Box jumps - I broke this down into 5 sets of 10 - for mental purposes - but it was really hard to get into a rhythm by this point. This is where the workout really slooooowed down.

Floor Wipers - the hardest part was holding that darn bar over my chest. I was doing this in sets of 5. It went slowly.

Kb clean and press - again, sets of 5. The reps were a little ugly - would the creators of this workout have approved my reps - I can only hope so!

Pullups - the final round was done for 6 sets of 2, then a whole bunch of single reps, another couple sets of 2, and then 2 more singles to finish off.

Don’t try the 300 workout at home unless you can do at least 12 pullups and deadlift over 315 pounds with correct form. If you want to do this workout someday, you’ll need months of heavy strength training, interval training, and bodyweight exercises.

There was quite a buzz when a new hi-tech gadget, the Celestron SkyScout came on the market about a year ago. According to the manufacturer any amateur stargazer can easily find and identify one of thousands of celestial objects using this device.

What exactly is the SkyScout and what does it do? How does it work? What are some of its features and what are the pros and cons of purchasing the SkyScout personal planetarium?

The Celestron SkyScout locates objects two different ways. It can tell you what star or planet you are pointing at, or it will guide you to it, by selecting the name of the star from a list. The database contains over 6,000 planets, constellations and stars. Not only that, it also gives you some pretty impressive information about each one as well.

The science behind these functions works via a GPS receiver (locates your current position on earth). It also uses a special type of software that can calculate where the stars and planets are at that particular moment and utilizes 3 “axix sensors” which act to measure gravitational and magnetic fields.

Some of it’s features include:

Tonight’s Must See List, Constellation Lessons, Updatable Software and Data and Sky Tour, Content Cards (SD Card slots for extra content), and a built in field guide.

The field guide includes such topics as Introduction to Astronomy, Glossary of terms, text bios of great astronomers, text of man-made space objects (Hubble Telescope, Space Shuttle, Space Station) and a historic guide to popular comets.

According to other sources, the SkyScout even “talks” to you. Using audio headphones, the handheld device will tell you stories about the some of the most popular stars and planets that you are looking at.

One thing I thought might be particularly handy was the fact that there is a built in USB interface (connect to your computer) so it’s easy to keep up with new objects as they are discovered.

The GPS may take awhile to start working and its capabilities will be compromised if the user is near metal. Those sitting in metal lawn chairs beware.

Compatible with Windows only, not Macintosh.

No lens cap is included.

He trained Moses and Paul in the enemy’s camp, so they could use that knowledge against them. We can see the Lord at work in the lives of other Bible characters. Joseph was sold into slavery and put in prison to be trained to be second in command to Pharaoh, and to save his people from starvation.

He sent Daniel and Ezekiel to Babylonian captivity. Ezekiel taught the exiles and Daniel worked with the Babylonian government officials. We are not to be dejected because our circumstances seem to turn sour; God may be training us for a task he has assigned us. We must remember that the Lord has everything under control. It may seem like chaos to us, but it is taking place according to his plan.

Our maker directs our steps by directing our minds. He directs our steps according to his word, so that no sin will rule over us (PS 119:133). He also uses the people around us to open doors to accomplish his purpose.

Artaxerxes sent Ezra to Palestine to minister to the returned exiles. He sent Nehemiah to rebuild the walls. Nebuchadnezzar punished God’s people and Cyrus liberated them from captivity not realizing they were being used by God. Those who accomplish great things for God are leaders who can enlist other people to assist them. Even if you don’t consider yourself a leader, God has a job for you in his kingdom.

Sometimes our circumstances make no sense to us. The Lord changed his rule of giving the first born son a double portion of his father’s inheritance in the story of Jacob and Esau. He announced to Rebekah that the older of her unborn twins would serve the younger.

He could have caused Jacob to be born first, but chose to permit him and his mother to deceive Esau and his father to serve his purpose. It seems out of character for a perfect being to permit, to even cause such deception, but his thoughts and ways are far above ours (ISA 55:9).

If you are overwhelmed by your circumstances, trust God, for he will lead you through. Circumstances are not as important as your reaction to them. People overcome situations that seem hopeless. The tremendous effort necessary to climb out of a deep hole often propels one far above accomplishments by ordinary people.

Our job is to figure out what God is up to, in our life. He created circumstances that put you where you are. There is something you can do for him in your location. There are things that you enjoy doing and are good at. You are in contact with people there. That should give you a clue what you can do for the Lord’s cause. God is working in you to bring about accomplishment of his purpose and a great blessing for you.

If Jesus rose from the dead today, how would you announce his resurrection?

Meg, I would like to think everyone would join in your joyous scream, but only two disciples ran to the tomb upon hearing the news of Jesus’ resurrection.

“I would get my mama, and I would tell her, ‘Jesus is alive!’ Then, I would take her for a ride on my bike, and we would go into the city and shout, ‘Jesus is alive!’” says Jake, 5.

That’s it, Jake. Tell your mama about the Lord, and then, take her for an evangelistic bike tour. When Jesus told a woman he had living water to quench her thirst, she went into town to tell everyone she had found the Messiah.

Have you ever considered the people Jesus empowered to tell others about him? There’s not a single professional clergyman among them. The 12 disciples were known as unlearned men from Galilee.

I once met a Christian brother who said he was selling his boat and truck to proclaim the good news of Jesus’ resurrection in Panama. The boat was his only means of livelihood, and the truck was the only other substantial possession he owned.

Think about this: It’s all or nothing. If Jesus remains in the grave, Christians should be pitied because they hoped, believed, preached and lived in vain. But if Jesus conquered death on Easter morning, all the other promises of heaven by some other means are nothing but pompous puffery.

Memorize this truth: “And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!” (I Corinthians 15:17)

Ask this question: If you know Jesus as your risen savior, do you have plans to tell anyone about his resurrection this Easter?

So you’ve finally built a list. You’ve always heard that the money is in the list. Now you have a list. So where is the money? Well, take advantage of these two tips and you will start to see the money.

The One Time Offer
This is a powerful tool. Many people use the page after the opt-in page to thank the user and to ask them to check their email for a confirmation message. That’s all well and good (actually, it’s quite important). But do more on the page than just that. Use this landing page as an opportunity to pre-sell a product. Whether it’s your own product or something you’re an affiliate of, pre-sell it. Refer everyone who signs up to this product. They’re already in a frame of mind to be thinking about it, so you might as well take the opportunity to sell.

Follow Up Messages
I apologize if this is obvious, but you must follow up with your list. Deliver on what you promised. If you promised a 6-day e-course, deliver a 6-day e-course. If you promised a weekly newsletter, be sure to send that.

If you like, you can use pre-loaded autoresponder messages that go out in the sequence you desire. You set it up once and the rest takes care of itself. The other option is to send broadcast messages. This is a little more time consuming, but the upside is that your messages will always be relevant and timely.

Make sure you sell in every message. It doesn’t have to be a hard sell. But you should always push a product. Don’t bother wasting time about personal details or other sentiment. Your readers don’t care. They have family and friends. They are on your list to learn about whatever you promised them when they opted-in. Deliver that for them.
