Summer’s round the corner. You know what that means. Bikini season. Even now, in Spring, shorts are back. More skin is exposed as temperatures soar. Does that make you nervous?

If you’re fine with that, good for you. For the rest of us, it is time to take stock of the past season’s excesses. That roll of flab. Pasty skin. How would that look in a swim suit? Forget the swimsuit, how would that look in shorts and a tank top?

Let’s start with the easy part. Getting your skin soft, silky and touchable. All you need is a scrub and a moisturizer. A simple daily rubdown in the shower with dead sea salts would slough off the dead skin cells beautifully. If your skin is dry, then you could mix dead sea salt with olive oil into the paste after your shower. Rub all over your body and rinse off. It is rather messy but effective.

After every shower slather on some moisturizer all over your body. It would leave your skin soft and touchable. Get into the habit of caring for your skin all over before summer so when the time comes, your skin would be lovely.

Getting your skin radiant is the easy part. The tough part is getting your body sleek enough for that bikini.

You have three possible options.

  1. Leave it. Who cares? It’s your body anyway.
  2. Fake it. You might even get through the entire Spring and Summer without anyone knowing.
  3. Get in shape so you’d be able to flaunt what you’ve got. There’s still time if you start now.

If you prefer the first option, then go ahead.

If the second option appeals to you, you could invest in shapewear. You know, control tops stockings, girdles, the works and wear them all under your summer clothes to hide it all under a long skirt. If you arms bother you, then you could wear long billowy sleeves as camouflage. If you have to get into the water, look for a full swimsuit that would hold in your tummy. Or you could hold your breath until you get into the water and hold your breath until you get to the changing room and back into your fat binding arsenal.

You can hide only so much. It would be better if you whip your body in shape. If you start exercising now and eating moderately, you’d make enough progress by summer to be proud of the way you look in your swim suit. Personally, I prefer tae bo as it gives visible results quickly. Plus it is a lot more fun than jogging on the treadmill or doing repitive exercises in the gym. In any case, pick a workout system you find enjoyable and can stick with through summer.

Exercise alone isn’t going to help if you eat like a pig. I have a problem with my weight and it stems from my emotional eating. The doctor said I had to lose weight for health reasons and the only way I’d succeed was if I had my mouth sewn shut. I didn’t of course, but do try to moderate my food intake. Having a food journal where you record down everything you eat and drink (yes, drinks can contain a lot of calories) then tallying up the number of calories you’ve consumed can be quite an eye opener. Do that. Then decide what you’re going to cut down in order to lose weight.

Now on to the pasty skin issue. Forget about baking yourself in the sun. Exposure to those UV rays would only increase your chances of getting skin cancer. Do what the celebrities do. Spray on your tan, or at least smooth it on with a sunless tanning lotion. Do it after exfoliating your skin as these self tanners work by coloring the dead skin cells on the surface of your skin. If your skin is flaky, the tan would be patchy.

Start now and you’ll more than happy to face summer in your bikini.

Have you ever wanted to take that dream trip to a tropical island in the Caribbean to soak up the sun and atmosphere, but had that dream taken away from you because of your fear of flying? It doesn’t have to be this way! You need to identify exactly why it is you harbour these, and other, fears, and discover ways to overcome fear of flying and other limitations.

What is fear of flying?

An unwillingness to even think about getting onboard a plane is a sure fire sign of fear of flying, but these are some other common symptoms:

- Worrying, and becoming overstressed about a flight for days, weeks, even months in advance
- Having feelings of anxiety before boarding the plane
- Feeling you need a strong drink or sedatives to calm down before a flight
- Feeling uncomfortable when the door closes, when the plane takes off, and when you hear certain noises
- Feeling elated and overcome with relief when you finally get off the plane

Why do you fear flying?

In order to overcome fear of flying we need to understand why the fear exists. There are two types of things in our lives; things we can control, and things we cannot control. Things we can control include our thoughts, our actions, and our reactions to certain situations. However, we cannot control things such as the behaviour of others (legally anyway), the thoughts of others, and the weather, among other things.

Fears emanate from our irrational assumptions that the things we cannot control will turn out to be bad experiences. For example, with flying we have absolutely no control; everything is in the hands of the captain. And even if we wanted to, we can’t just stop the plane and get off. Where do these assumptions come from though? We certainly aren’t born with these fears; they are learned through our experiences and through the experiences of others. Try to think of a time that triggered your fear of flying, it could be a personal experience of a turbulent flight you had, the fearful stories of others, or the frightening images seen on television. It’s likely that your imagination takes these experiences and heightens them into a worse case scenario that accentuates your fear. You need to use your imagination to overcome fear of flying, rather than allow it to feed the fear.

Seldom do people realise that flying is significantly safer than travelling in a car or a train. Think about that for a second; it is more dangerous to hop into a car and drive down a freeway than it is to fly, yet people do it every single day without even thinking twice. When you hop into a car or a train what are you thinking? Really, the next time you get into a car or train, take note of what goes through your mind. Most likely you’re not even thinking about whether or not it’s safe to do so, you just do it. Yet when a plane is involved we allow our imagination to overwhelm us due to the uncertainty, because after all how can an object that big possibly fly?

Overcome fear of flying

There are a number of ways to feel more comfortable about flying, and to use your imagination in your favour.

- Prior to the flight have a full, nutritious meal as it will help you relax during the flight.
- Ensure you pack books to read, or music to listen to, or anything else that will distract you, while you are waiting for the flight, and during the actual flight
- Arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare so you can check-in and get your luggage through without too much hassle
- Avoid sugary foods, or caffeine prior to the flight as this may increase stress levels

Other than these practical tips, a very effective way to overcome fear of flying is to visualise the flight. Before your flight try to visualise every aspect of the journey; from the time you arrive at the airport imagine everything going smoothly during the check-in, see yourself walking calmly, even laughing, as you go through the gates and onto the plane. Imagine yourself sitting in your seat, being absorbed in your book, then seeing the magnificent view out the window. Visualise the smooth landing, and how thankful you are to the crew for such an enjoyable flight. Now that wasn’t so bad was it?

Visualisation is a powerful technique not just to help overcome fear of flying, but also to overcome any other fear you have.

Hidden Dangers of Divorce for the Naive and What to Do to Make a Better Divorce

The system of family law is inherently flawed. It is adversarial where it need not be, and when it needs to be strong it often fails the client. Civil Codes and family laws are ignored. Lawyers perjure themselves for their clients, make character assassinations and other heinous acts as routine as filing a motion. Lawyers are abusive, expensive and when they become the problem instead of the solution, it’s time to say so.

I first learned this in my own divorce - where better to learn than firsthand?

I was caught in a huge attempt at concealing fraud, with my husband and his attorney in collusion to conceal it, then Kafkaesquelike, planning to blame it on me. They announced this at a settlement conference when asked by the pro tem judge, “Why are you going to trial, there is evidence of the fraud?”

With breathtaking nonchalance, opposing counsel prepared to assist my husband in implicating me in fraud.

At the time I thought I was the only one anything like this happened to. Over the years I have come to learn how common it is.

It took a lot of discovery to unearth the fraud including subpoeanas of clients. I won, but the cost was high. If opposing counsel not been so malignant in encouraging the fraud upon the court, it is possible we might have settled. But how would he earn his $350.00 an hour if we settle? Greed and ego play a big part in the cash cow known as family law. After losing at trial, he wanted an appeal, which they lost. Still on the warpath, opposing counsel wanted to go to the Supreme Court. However by now, my ex had spent enough on his losing battle and stopped the war.

Recently in Dallas there was a judge so incompetent she thought she had the right to eliminate evidence proving sexual abuse. She was exposed and did not get re-elected, but the trauma to the people in her court is severe and they suffer still.

In California, I recently read a transcript where the judge knowingly begins a trial at the wrong time and without both sides present. He ignores this and proceeds without the mother. This was a custody trial. Can you imagine the lack of judicial ethics to begin a trial at the wrong time? Due process? Gone. Constitutional rights? Ignored. This is family court.

In another case, a Silicon Valley attorney announces she is a ‘prima donna’ as if that excuses her abusive treatment of clients, and worse, the outrageous billing for doing nothing. She told one client: “Don’t do discovery. Go ahead and lose and we’ll get the money later.” Really? I hope one of her clients files a bar complaint or sues for malpractice. She should be flipping burgers not bon mots.

In My Divorce

Shocked, stunned and filled with rage at the lack of human compassion, at the malignancy that was this process, I felt trapped. But slowly, a change was washing over me. The more I learned about narcissism and evil, the more I gladly wore the badge they pinned on me labeled “target” . They were working very hard to “get me”, so hard that they had to recreate a world in which I am expendable and they are to get their way. Oh, dear husband, you never focused on me during the marriage as you did then. With humor and grace, as Richard Cohen puts it, I look with amusement at how much time, energy and money he directed at me now.

I was distraught, depressed and angry. Alexander Hamilton said, “The first duty of society is justice.” Where the hell was it?

Divorce lawyers taught me not only are women supposed to be inferior, they run their cases as if we actually are. Divorce is a paternalistic system, even with many female attorneys. It is built on control, concealment of information, and a swirl of paperwork that makes the process understood only by the anointed few.

Sometimes I think “law” is an acronym for lawyers against women. While all the men exit stage left, let me say I also believe the law can be an equal opportunity bastard and be unjust, unfair and biased against anyone or anything.

Why is Divorce Often Harder for Women?

Women are not trained to fight and divorce can be war. Women do not believe it will get dirty and nasty. They do not see their spouse as one who can and will do things which harm everyone including the children. But when money and ego are involved spouses can act without a conscience. You may be amazed at the transformation of your spouse, morphing from someone you knew as kind and compassionate to a stranger who fights with a passion.

With an aggressive, greed driven attorney behind him, he can become brainwashed and encouraged to whip himself into a frenzy.

Money translates into power in the legal system. It allows those who want to punish their spouses the ability to do so legally. As long as there is money, there is someone to represent them.

Inquiring minds want to know: is it possible to have a positive legal experience when dealing with a group of people who believe the truth is a manipulative?

Maybe. Find out more at http://www.divorceandlawyers.com or http://www.narcissisticabuse.com where Ann Bradley, M.A. shares her experience and information.

The Internet has become a hub for new business opportunities for many individuals. This is because of the numerous home business opportunities it offers that are easy to start, easy to manage, and potentially profitable. One of the most popular is to sell your things on the auction website eBay. This article outlines how to get started from scratch.

So you want to start selling your wares on eBay, but don’t know where to start. Is it even a good idea? There are more than 100 million individuals buying and selling on eBay, which means there’s a huge customer base but also a huge amount of competition! You will need to establish credibility in the form of buyer feedback, among others things, in order for your potential client. Here are some tips on how to build positive feedback in a short period of time.

Begin small. If you’re an eBay novice, you won’t have much in the way of feedback so it could take longer to find purchasers for your items. Search your house for items you need to dispose of, and develop an online yard sale on eBay. This way, it won’t hurt your bank book much at the same time as perking up your account with positive eBay feedback.

Look for good deals. Selling goods online doesn’t require a lot of investment money. In case you do not know, your own town is probably a haven of a lot of good deals, from garage sales for example, or check shop windows for adverts. You can acquire them cheaply and then make a profit on eBay.

Market. Now that you have some basic skills on eBay and a reasonable feedback rating, it is time to promote your home business. A nice way to generate new business is to put advertisements online or in newspapers offering to sell items for people. It works this way: individuals give you their stuff to sell on eBay, and you obtain a commission off the sale. You may need an auctioneer’s license to do this in some states, so check your local laws.

Make yourself a powerseller. Get the notion that you are one credible and trustworthy eBay seller by widening your business opportunities. First, you can conduct a survey of the probable items you can sell and that you can purchase at the lowest possible price. To assist you, you can inquire from local lawyers about any estates that they are managing where relatives of the recently deceased, are looking to sell off their property.

Partner with a wholesaler. Sooner or later, eBay sellers will certainly have to search for a wholesaler as a partner. Doing this will swell profit as well as convenience since the wholesaler will store the goods, so you don’t have to, and they will ship your sold goods directly to the customer. Start the bidding off with a price somewhere between wholesale and retail, if possible that way, customers will still see it as a deal and you are still likely to obtain a decent profit.

Despite eBay being one of the most effective home business opportunities around, you still have to work hard and dedicate ample time and effort. Soon, even if money doesn’t come easily, you will rise to the top and enjoy the kind of financial freedom you always wanted.

Is Alternative Sexuality A Religious Must?

“Abstinence” in society is a rather rare sexual lifestyle. “Abstinence” among Roman Catholic clergy is the norm and in other forms of Christianity far from uncommon among the clergy. Yet, while all “non-mainstream” forms of sexuality are object of fierce debate (and sometimes even crusade), “abstinence” is not. In fact, it is often praised as a virtue.

This is a strange situation.

While procreation is considered important by Christianity, the actual act (and as such the sex) is reserved for the people. The Christian leadership (or lower, middle and upper management if you prefer more modern terms) is excluded from the act itself, the gift of life and such things as parenthood. All these are considered virtues, yet withheld from the management. Among these, a very rare form of alternative sexuality (not having any) is advocated.

Meaning: if you want to be part of “the management” you have to adhere to an alternative lifestyle. Apparently alternative lifestyles are important. Even better, adhering to a specific alternative lifestyle is an important part of what separates the cattle from the sheep.

Now suppose we turn the table (for arguments’ sake) and the alternative lifestyle community would start to condemn and fight “abstinence” with the same vigor as others condemn and fight them. All in all the “alternative lifestyle community” is a huge segment of the worlds’ population. If alternative sex would be a binding factor or an important political issue for voters it is not unlikely one third of any government would probably be gay, into BDSM, fetishism and polyamory. Suppose the debate was not about gay marriage, but about these horrible deliberately and wilfully unmarried people? Would that not be strange?

It does not matter if you advocate a religious or evolution-based theory. Both will put procreation in front of everything else. Life is valuable to both. Wether “life” is God-given or the result of a long evolutionary trail - as far as the importance of life is concerned - is actually only a secondary argument. Those into “abstinence” for religious reasons refuse to take part in this - apparently and without question important - process. They wave their option to procreate, so to speak. They have to, otherwise they quite often cannot be part of “the management”. This leads to an interesting philosophical question: “Can it be a requirement for your management to not use the God-given ability?”

Fact of the matter is that the alternative lifestyle community will not turn the table. For a very simple reason: they respect other peoples’ views and lifestyle choices. So, as far as they are concerned, “abstinence” will never be subject of debate. In fact, they are likely to even join forces with clergy and others, should “abstinence” ever become subject of debate. Simply because the alternative lifestyle community considers it an important personal (human) right to choose your “sexual format” (no I am not going into the “it is not a choice, I was born like this” debate).

The point I want to make is this: if a form of alternative sexuality is a pivotal factor to clergy (and at least among Roman Catholics it is), clergy by definition should adhere to the right to make your own sexual lifestyle choices. Or should they not?

Hans Meijer, a Dutch former journalist and government spokesmen, is the chairman for the Powerotics Foundation. This organisation is dedicated to provide quality information about alternative lifestyles.

Explanation of EFT in “The EFT Course” - A Review

EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques, is taking the world by storm. It is justifiably becoming the most popular self-help method.

One very popular way of learning EFT for yourself or those around you is through Gary Craig’s Original EFT DVDs. The first in this series is the DVD entitled “The EFT Course”.

Gary Craig is the founder of EFT. He developed EFT from TFT (Thought Field Therapy). EFT involves relieving negative emotions by the use of the acupressure meridians and some clever psychology. EFT can be used to help any emotional or physical condition.

In “The EFT Course”, a full explanation of EFT is given. EFT is a simple formula that anyone can learn. The original format of this is Basic Recipe, which is explained in simple detail in this DVD set.
The explanations are clear, and the viewer can simply copy the presenters in a monkey-see monkey-do fashion. There is an equally good detailed demonstration of the Collarbone Breathing procedure, a way of further helping EFT in some circumstances.

The history of how EFT developed is given, which is entertaining and easy to grasp. Many case studies are shown, both in video and audio. This serves as a further demonstration of the technique and how to use it.

It is easy to learn EFT from this DVD set. This is easier than from a book, as it is simpler to mirror the actions of the presenters than to do the same from static pictures in a book.

This DVD set has overwhelmingly more on the plus side than the minus side.

Considering that EFT involves connecting lightly to negative emotions, it is important that this connection is a very loose one. This is explained in the DVD set. However, it is that it is not made crystal clear how important it is not to concentrate vividly on the subject-matter being treated until the treatment is nearly complete.

Another criticism of this DVD set is that the viewer could get the mistaken impression that to do EFT one has to isolate the emotional components of a distressing memory, such and anger or fear. This is unnecessary and could be distressful. In fact, one of the biggest advantages of EFT is that there is no need to dwell upon negative feelings, unlike so many painful talk therapies. EFT is designed to whisk those negative feelings swiftly away, with minimum discomfort.

On the plus side, anyone with any emotional or physical problem can obtain relief very rapidly by using this DVD set. Complementary and allopathic health practitioners can use this DVD set to seriously help their clients.

Doctors, massage therapists, psychotherapists, teachers, sports coaches, and many other professionals can learn a great deal from “The EFT Course”.

Even if you have attended EFT workshops, this DVD classic is too valuable to ignore. It really is essential viewing material for anyone serious about EFT.

One of the best things you can do for yourself and your baby is to eat healthy during pregnancy. The food you eat is your baby’s only source of nutrition.

Your body’s main source of energy comes from the essential carbohydrates in grains. You should choose at least nine servings of grains per day. Review the following list of grain servings:

–1 cup cold cereal
–½ cup cooked cereal, pasta or rice
–1 slice bread
–½ English muffin
–½ small bagel
–6 crackers

Foods enriched with whole grains provide you with fiber, iron, B vitamins, various minerals and protein.
Ways of including whole grains in your diet include:

–Trading sugary cereal and white bread for whole-grain cereals
–Brown rice instead of white rice
–Whole-wheat pasta

Read food labels to be sure whole grains are listed first in the ingredients (whole-wheat flour, not simply wheat flour).
Fruits and vegetables provide you with Vitamin C and fiber as well as many other vitamins and minerals. Vitamin C also promotes healthy gums and other tissues for both you and your baby. Other important nutrients during pregnancy are Vitamin A, iron and folic acid.

You should choose three or more servings of fruit and four or more servings of vegetables per day.

Servings include:

–1 medium-sized piece of fruit
–½ cup fresh, frozen or canned fruit
–¼ cup dried fruit
–1 cup raw, leafy vegetables
–½ cup cooked or other raw vegetables
–¾ cup fruit or vegetable juice
–1 small baked potato

If you are tired of canned and fresh fruit, try dried fruits. There are several different fruits available such as apricots, cherries, strawberries, blueberries. Blueberries and strawberries are packed with antioxidants. I just love the dry pineapples!
Protein is extra important for your baby’s growth especially during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Choose at least three servings of protein-rich foods a day. These foods include choices in the meat, poultry, fish, eggs and beans category.

A serving includes:

–3 ounces of cooked lean meat, poultry or fish
–½ cup cooked dried beans
–1 egg
–1/3 cup nuts
–2 tablespoons peanut butter

And don’t forget the dairy products that helps build your baby’s bones and teeth as well as keeps your bones and teeth healthy. Calcium-fortified soy milk is a good choice during pregnancy. Choose three or more servings a day. Servings include:

–1 cup skim milk
–1 cup yogurt
–1 ½ ounces natural cheese (about the size of six dice)
–2 ounces processed cheese
–Calcium-fortified orange juice
–Some bottled waters contain a little calcium per bottle

Indulge in fats, oils and sweets only once in a while during pregnancy. Keep an eye on portion size.

Your doctor will probably also prescribe a daily vitamin. Even women who eat a healthy diet daily may miss out on some nutrients. A daily vitamin can help fill in the gaps. There are also special supplements your doctor may recommend if you have any kind of a chronic health problem.
