Five ways to increase the efficiency of the business operation and its margins is probably one of the most overlooked areas to building and sustaining a profitable business. Yet, it has so much potential for making a positive impact on your bottom line.

Step 1: Control or Reduce Expenses

Getting a handle on where your money is going is critical. Most businesses have an incredible amount of waste, not only in actual money loss, but in human capital - loss or wasted time by their employees and staff. You need to keep a very tight reign over any expenditure, and money should only be spent after careful consideration and analysis as to how it will contribute to your bottom line profits.

One of the biggest money wasters is in the area of advertising and marketing. Careful testing of ads and promotions should be carried out in small runs before “rolling out” to your entire list or to the marketplace. Direct response ads with enticing and compelling offers should always be used in place of more traditional image or institutional ads.

When you consider how much it “costs” to bring in a dollar of actual profit and then see how easy it is to spend that money and not get a positive return, it’s not hard to see why so many businesses have a difficult time showing a positive balance at the end of the year.

Step 2: Increase Profit Margins

Step 4: Manage Time More Effectively

It’s true that we all have different jobs, tasks, priorities, and responsibilities, and those all require different amounts of time, but you can significantly increase your available time if you take stock of where you are, what you’re spending your time on, and then effectively employ the principle of delegation.

By concentrating on things that matter most, or that only you can do, and then delegating the lesser important tasks to the lowest competency level person that can handle them, you’ll have more time to focus on the important priorities - the things that can make you real money.

Step 5. Increase Your Staff’s Knowledge And Competence

How many times have you called a business and asked a question, only to have the person on the other end of the phone act like they had no idea of what you were talking about or where to get the answer? It happens all the time. Unfortunately, with today’s labor laws it’s much more difficult to get rid of incompetent, rude or uncaring employees without the threat of lawsuits or some other problems.

Knowing how to hire the right employees is becoming more critical, as well as how they’re trained to handle different situations that come up in your business. It’s surprising how few businesses have regular what seems like old-fashioned staff or employee meetings. What is Acne? What causes it to appear? Why does acne affect some people to extreme levels where others have little to none? QUIK! Run to the sink and scrub your face, and stop eating that chocolate and fried food. The most common form of acne is known as Acne Vulgaris which usually appears on the face, neck, shoulders and back. It’s an inflammatory disease of the skin, caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units. There are several factors that contribute to the development of acne. The primary problem is that the abdominal flaking of cells inside the hair follicle leads to the formation of a plug. The plug can grow larger and rupture the hair follicle. Oil and debris spill into the skin when a rupture occurs causing swelling and redness.

There is no one factor that causes acne. Acne happens when oil “sebaceous” glands come to life at puberty. They are stimulated by male hormones from the adrenal gland of both boys and girls. Oil is a natural substance that lubricates and protects the skin. Cells that are close to the surface block the openings of sebaceous glands and cause a buildup of oil underneath. The oil stimulates bacteria to multiply and cause the surrounding tissue to inflame. If the inflammation is near the surface of the skin, you get a pustule; if it’s deeper, a pimple will appear; even deeper a cyst will form. If the oil manages to break the surface, the result will be a whitehead. If the oil becomes oxidized the oil and changes from white to black and results in a blackhead. Step 1. Wash your body once or twice a day with soap and water to remove excess oil from your skin. Avoid scrubbing too abrasively because this can actually irritate the skin and cause acne to worsen. Acne cleanser purchased at the drug store can also help.

Recently I received an email from a coach asking this question: Can you tell me what my guards should do before and during penetration and how they should finish at the rim? As I prepared to answer the question it made sense to me what this coach really wanted to know. Like any other skill in basketball there are a series of skills that proceed the end result. Let’s take a look at the secrets to scoring at the rim. In this article we will analyze what happens before and during penetration to the rim.

There are a lot of elements to consider as you break down this skill. There is an art to scoring off the dribble, as opposed to the coach who tells his players to simply “get to the rim”.

Before

1. The number one thing is to clear your defender. Of course, there are a multitude of ways to do this. 2. Knowing that you are on a clear or open side plays into the players thinking also. He SEES that the drive to the basket is possible.

During

1. Once by the defender, the ball handler needs to quickly survey the floor. Good teams will not let you just go by and get to the trim. They will have levels of help in place. By survey, I mean visually check out the floor for a path the basket OR passing opportunities.

2. I have always taught the Stride Stop as a way for the dribbler to be in control but strong with the ball at the same time. This is where a lot of kids miss out. They are convinced they are driving it all the way to the hoop, eliminating any assist possibilities. Many players, at this time, jump in the air to make a play. The stride stop is a controlled jump stop & pivot at the deepest point of penetration. It allows for control, balance, good decision making, a shot possibility and a pass opportunity.

3. If there is a clear path to the rim, the ball should be taken to the rim in the strongest method possible. Some players can take it up strong off one foot. Others need to jump stop then go up and finish.

Finishing at the Rim

1. Strength is the key. Protecting the ball as they go up with the ball. Use the term, “Take the defender up with you.” In other words, they key is to not let the defenders contact to STOP your momentum to the rim.

2. Concentration is crucial. Most players concentrate on the impending contact rather than the rim. When this happens, the contact becomes the focus, not making the shot.

3. Use of a blocking dummy and mock defenders is good because it simulates contact at the rim.

4. Terms I have used over the years:

a. Finish at the rim–meaning they should release the ball as close to the rim as possible. Makes sense that the less the ball has to travel, the better chance you have to make it.

b. Play THROUGH the contact.

c. Take the defender up with you.

d. Expect contact–how many times have you seen a player get fouled or hit hard and act like they had NO IDEA there was going to be any contact around the basket. This is a mindset you can help your players develop. I use the term, “Take on the contact”.

A key in all of this is the ability for players to make DECISIONS—why? Because getting by the defender is not a licence to get all the way to the basket. It just means they beat the first line of defense. A lay up or power shot is possible, but so is a pass or pull up jumper (the mid-range game). This gives players three options after beating a defender, not just one.

Instead mere formalities are required, so as to make sure that you actually have income regardless of its amount. You’ll need a note from your Certified public accountant or your TAX preparer stating that you are self employed or a letter from your employer stating that you are employed. No reference to actual income is needed. The documentation is needed only to back up the income source, not the amount.

The Cash Reserve Requirement

In order to get approved for stated income construction loan, you’ll need to build a cash reserve to guarantee repayment of the loan if anything unexpected happens. The amount ranges from one lender to another usually equals to three months to a year of the monthly installments of the construction loan. The repayment program will also determine the amount of the cash reserve. Longer repayment programs will require higher amounts and shorter repayment programs will require lower amounts. Also, the borrower’s credit score and financial situation will be taken into account to define the cash reserve requirement. An excellent credit score and financial situation may entitle the borrower to bypass this requirement.

Yet even if you do a wide variety of lighting sources in order to ensure that your workshop is well light it is also a good idea to include some lighting to each workstation.

2. Placement of the Machines

When beginning to design your workshop layout for woodworking it is important that you decide exactly where all your basic machinery is to be placed. What you need to remember is that you will need a clearance area around the machines in case you have to work with large pieces of wood. Also look at a way of setting up the placement of the machines so that you do not have to spend your time running from one machine to another because they are spread wide apart around the workshop. Plus you need to look at their location so that they are close to all the power supplies that they need, as you do not want to end up having loads of electrical wires running across the workshop floor, which can be a major hazard.

We’ve all been in a situation where we’ve had to alter our normal shot. Maybe we were too close to a group of overhanging branches that prevented us from reaching the fairway in one hot. Or maybe we were behind a clump of trees that blocked our way to the green. Whatever the case, we were left with no choice but to change our shot. That’s when the ability to control ballflight trajectory comes in handy.

Controlling trajectory saves strokes. It gets you out of trouble when you need it. That’s why I cover it in my golf instruction sessions. Sometimes, the trouble forces you to alter ball flight trajectory. Other times, it gives us a choice. We can play it safe, which can cost us a stroke, or we can go for it, which saves us an extra stroke. How successful you are at making this shot, as I often tell players taking my golf lessons, depends on how well you control trajectory.

Setup is the Key

Two keys dominate this shot-setup and club selection. How you set up, as I’ve often said in my golf tips, often dictates the success of the shot. What changes you make here, which we discuss below, depend on the type of shot you need to make. If you want to go low with the shot, you need to make one set of changes. If you want to go high, you need to make another set.

Choosing the right club is also a key to controlling trajectory. Using the right club also helps dictate the success of the shot, just like making the right changes to your setup. For low shots, select one more club than is needed, choke down on the handle a few inches, and execute a smooth abbreviated swing. For high shots, choose one less club than needed, keep your normal grip, and get more aggressive.

Since your setup is so critical to controlling trajectory, let’s review the basics of your set-up when trying to do so.

Go Low

Our main goal in hitting this type of shot is getting out of trouble. Don’t be concerned with hitting at miracle shot, here. Just focus on getting the ball back on the fairway or in a good position to take your next shot.

Here are six keys to going low:

-Ball back

-Weight forward

-Shoulders level

-Hands forward

-Swing low

-Finish low

Position the ball anywhere from dead center in your stance to your rear foot. Now, lean forward. Leaning de-lofts the clubface and ensures a steep, descending blow. Next, level your shoulders. Keep them level as you start your swing. Focus your eyes on the ground to get your shoulders to match the horizon.

Lean the hands and the shaft forward, which de-lofts the club. Now take a softer swing than normal. A softer swing reduces the balls spin and prevents an up-shooting flight. Swing with an even, pendulum like rhythm to accomplish this goal. Don’t take a full finish. Hold the clubhead below your waistline after impact.

Go High

Like going low, going high can get you out of trouble in the least amount of strokes. But it can cost you if you miss the shot. So don’t try to pull off a miracle shot. Assess the situation carefully before deciding to go over something. Sometimes it’s better playing it safe-even though it costs you a stroke-than going for broke.

Here are six tips on going high:

-Ball forward

-Weight back

-Back shoulder low

-Hands Neutral

-Be aggressive

-Finish high

Position the ball forward in your stance. This facilitates catching the ball on a slightly ascending arc. Now lean backward. Be sure that your back shoulder is lower than your front shoulder at address.

Maintain a neutral hand and shaft position as a means of retaining the loft built into the clubface at impact. Keeping your hands low in the center of your stance works well. Also, don’t hold back. Be aggressive. Speed creates lift. A high ballflight needs a high finish, so try completing your swing in balance, with your hands and arms back over your front shoulder.

Controlling ballflight trajectory depends on making setup adjustments and good club selection. Learning to do so, as I’ve mentioned in my golf tips, increases your arsenal of shots, making you better equipped to tackle whatever a course may bring that day. In addition, it saves strokes. And cutting down on strokes can’t help but reduce your golf handicap to where you want it.
