Branding is a marketing technique that has the potential to take your business to the next level. It involves helping your clientele to form a recognizable association with your group. You may believe that only big corporations can successfully build a brand, but this not true. Small businesses and local organizations can enhance their marketing strategies and foster growth through the use of branding.

Associate your business with a design, logo, slogan, and/ or color and watch the positive implications of developing a brand. Experts say that the following ideas are necessary to understanding the process.

–Brands create a feeling of familiarity for the public. If customers have seen your logo, insignia, or company name, they are more likely to continue to choose your product or service. Additionally, they are more inclined to recommend them to others. Referrals through word of mouth communication can be an extremely powerful form of advertising.

–A brand helps potential clients to remember your business. People may know little about your philosophies or reputation as a company. However, if they can recognize your brand, the chances are greater that they will do business with you. Branding creates memory in the mind of the public.

–Thereafter, feelings of loyalty are developed. When the public remembers your brand and familiarizes themselves and others with it, they will return. Customers are more likely to remain loyal to your business and are likely to purchase additional products or services from you based on the brand of the initial product with which they had success.

–Trusted brands involve higher prices. People are willing to pay more for products or services that they highly regard. This means that customers are apt to forgo cheaper prices with other competitors if your brand has made a positive impression with them. We, as consumers, still believe that “you get what you pay for.” If clients believe in your product, they will pay for it. All of this leads to a better profit for your company.

–Less is more. When you have distinguished your business through branding, the marketing has the capability of becoming so profound, that little else is required. Developing your brand takes some time and effort, but after it has been solidified, and after customers have had the opportunity to identify with it, your sales can increase almost effortlessly. You won’t have to spend as much time planning marketing strategies to attract the public.

Brands are an incredibly potent marketing tool. You have the power to manifest some of these principles in the minds of your clients through your company’s brand. When working with your concept, consider the following to ensure the development of these aforementioned ideas.

–Make your brand as original as possible. Catch the eye of the public by creating something different- something that people have not yet seen. Instead of playing off of what has already been done, go the opposite direction and be creative. Don’t forget the legal dangers of copyright infringement related to borrowing or stealing from another firm’s design.

–Display stability. Take time in the invention process to establish your brand and achieve the look you really want. It’s better to spend ample time in the beginning tweaking your design to the desired outcome, rather than to tinker with it after it’s been revealed to the public. Changing your brand, and all that’s involved with it, including colors, slogans, logos, and tag lines, doesn’t support an image of dependability and long-lastingness.

–Consistency should be maintained with branding. If you have integrated a brand into your company’s marketing, then use it everywhere. It should appear on all of your marketing materials, business cards, web site, and printed items. The same is true for your packaging. Your brand should appear on all of your products.

–Remember to trademark. Protect your brand. You have worked hard to create a brand that is unique to your company, and you don’t want to give it away carelessly. You can prevent competitors from using your ideas through trademarking. This process also ensures that your brand is used only in the manner that you desire.

–Give your brand away to the public through different promotional products. You can help your brand to permeate the consumer population by handing out valuable, yet inexpensive, items. Promotional products invite potential customers to remember your brand and your gift each time they are used. Consider handy devices such as letter openers, flashlights, first aid kits, and CD cases.

Remember the importance of branding. If you haven’t already initiated a brand for your company, now might be just the time. Savor these simple techniques in the promotion of your special brand.

You have put a lot of work into participating in this next trade show. You have organized your set-up materials. You have printed new graphics to hang up illustrating the work that you do. You have redesigned your brochures and updated your catalogs with a fresh new look. You have enough personnel to help run the event efficiently. You feel like you are on top of your game and ready to make this trade show a real success. Are you sure you’re not leaving anything out?

Giving promotional products is the key ingredient to ensuring traffic at your trade show booth. Be sure you are not dismissing this important piece of information. Your time and energy are precious, and you want to be sure you are getting everything out of this next event that you possibly can. Many vendors overlook the possibilities of promotional products, yet they remain puzzled as to why they never reach that next level of success. Major universities as well as a number of marketing research teams have conducted studies. Their results indicate that using promotional items grants you a major advantage over the competition. Buyers are more likely to visit vendors giving away promotional products than those who do not.

There are proven ways that you can promote traffic at your exhibit during the next trade show event you are attending. Follow these few points of advice and increase customer awareness and goodwill at the same time.

–Send out invitations in advance. Encourage your guests to attend the event and to visit your booth. People appreciate reminders, especially those that are personalized.

–Include a promotional gift with the invitation that invitees receive beforehand.

Consider a small relatively inexpensive offering, for example, highlighters, pens, writing pads, or key chains. Customers are more likely to make an appearance at your space when promotional gifts are involved.

–Give a second promotional product to visitors who do make the effort to browse your booth. Reward them with an even more quality item as a “thank you” for attending, like a tote bag, sport water bottle, calculator, or CD case. Experts agree that potential customers remember the act of these simple gestures. The reality is that you as a vendor attract more sales with promotional items than without. Additionally, giving out these items fosters customer goodwill.

One example of an actual success story involves a bridal dress company. During the busy spring season, the owners frequented a plethora of wedding trade show events to promote their gowns. This company sent a handful of invitations to each of the local boutiques in the city where each expo was held. The invitations were of a Cinderella theme with a “Welcome to the Ball” message. Attached to each invitation was a tiny key chain in the shape of a glass shoe with a number on the bottom.

The dressmakers told each boutique to distribute the invitations to various area brides who were planning upcoming weddings. The company explained that the key chains were a gift to the brides, but that they should bring them with them to the bridal show event for the grand prize drawing. One lucky number would be randomly drawn which matched one of the numbers on the bottom of a certain shoe. During the event, the designers would complete the drawing and announce the winner of a free honeymoon package.

The trade show traffic for this particular booth was unimaginable. Brides, mothers, wedding coordinators, and others couldn’t help but check in with the dress company, not once, but often several times during the show. And, more importantly, each time they appeared to check the status of the drawing, they were attracted to the selection of dresses and shopped for bridal gowns. These manufacturers utilized their knowledge of promotional products by also handing out customized tote bags imprinted with their name and 1-800 number. Passers-by were relieved to receive another bag to carry their materials and stay organized during the wedding planning process. Once again, visitors noticed the styles and unique formal wear.

In the end, the dress company accomplished never-before record sales and received increased interest in their selection of gowns. The customer goodwill that had been created was obvious. Nobody at the event could stop excitedly talking about which lucky girl possessed the Cinderella slipper that would win the free trip.

Get creative with your next trade show. Search our wide variety of promotional items. One of our promotional consultants would be happy to assist you in ordering an item that integrates into your chosen trade show theme. Allow us to customize a promotional item with your company’s insignia. Increase your trade show traffic while at the same time building customer goodwill and awareness. With all you have invested in your business and attending trade show events, it just doesn’t make sense not to.

Set the Stage for Home Buyers

The Foyer

Your foyer is one of the most important parts of your home; it is the first view of your home’s interior. Follow these simple rules to create a lasting impression for buyers.

  • Keep the area open to enhance space.

  • Keep furniture at a minimum, one key piece of furniture is good. Keep the hall table free of all clutter.

  • One mirror or striking but impersonal print in the area is sufficient.

  • Remove all shoes and clothing from the area.

  • Remove all scatter rugs from the area.

  • Add some greenery to brighten, if space permits.

  • Clean all light fixtures or fans within the space.

  • Ensure that the area is well lit.

  • Try the GE Reveal Floodlight and or GE Reveal Indoor Spotlight to provide drama and highlight your foyer and hallway.

  • Adding a dimmer switch helps to accommodate the light adjustment for buyers coming in from outside to the foyer.

  • Odors- “If you can smell it, you can’t sell it”

Odors can be detected in the foyer by buyers. The smell can be coming from the kitchen to the front hall and foyer area.

Tip: Lemon scents has proven to be the most effective in neutralizing unpleasant odors. Try to stay away from the plug-in home scents in the immediate area.

  • Try running the empty Dishwasher with “Tang” (remember Tang?) or place some lemon rinds in the sink disposal.

Natural clean - not masking scents, help to eliminate odors!

Try these tips and create a great first impression!

As the nationwide recall of contaminated dog food widens, the Nestle Purina Pet Care Company has now recalled some of its dog food upon discovery that it is tainted with ingredients that have contributed to the kidney failure and death of dogs.

The contaminated ingredient is wheat gluten from China. This wheat gluten is from the same supplier that delivered wheat gluten to Menu Foods who earlier recalled more than 95 brands of dog food sold as private label dog food and as major brands through large dog food retailers.

Some reports have indicated that it is tainted with a rat poison and additional laboratory tests have revealed the existence of melamine. Melamine is used in the in the manufacture of plastic products such as plastic spoons. Melamine is also used in the manufacture of fertilizer.

With this now widening dog food recall, Purina has recalled Alpo Prime Cuts and Gravy wet food. Earlier, Purina recalled some Mighty Dog pouch products .

An added concern is a dog food recommended by many dog veterinarians, the Hill’s Science Diet brand, manufactured by Colgate Palmolive. Hills Prescription diet feline has been added to the recall

While this recall affects feline food at this time, we would suggest that all precautions be taken and to stop feeding any Hills Science Diet dog food as well until assured that the dog food recall will not be extended to this portion of the line as well. Err on the side of caution.

For many years, dog enthusiasts have questioned the nutrition value and safety of Hill’s Science Diet because of certain preservative and additives that dog nutrition experts have deemed to be unsafe.

To date more than 8,000 complaints have been received with regard to dog kidney failure and death since the inception of the dog food recall.

If you feed your dog Purina Alpo Prime Cuts and Gravy or Hill’s Prescription Diet dry food you should immediately stop and contact your veterinarian.

We used to feed our dogs Hill’s Science Diet Dog Food. Once we learned what was in this dog food that could be dangerous we immediately stopped, and are ever glad we did. 1. Introduction

Many home centers sell closet kits that a home owner can install in a weekend that provide quite a bit of flexibility to meet your needs and space requirements. If you are just looking for a basic closet for storage then you are all set. However, if you want something that is unique, custom to your space requirements, and perhaps utilize the space even more efficiently then you need to be more creative. One extreme is to have a complete custom closet designed and built, which can cost many thousands of dollars. This guide will give you some great ideas to get the best of both worlds, by have something that will be unique just for you, yet not break the bank.
Closet design and installation is not difficult for a homeowner to do, as long as he or she takes the time to plan out all of the steps, has the right tools and the patience.
The approach that we will discuss here is a combination of furniture refinishing, rough carpentry, finished carpentry and finally painting. This said, each of these steps can be quickly acquired with some basic knowledge and the use of the right tools.

2. Where Do You Start

If you open your closet door and what you see is a mess, you could become overwhelmed with the amount of work it will take to get organized and complete the closet project. This does not have to be the case, and with some careful planning we took one closet that was a disaster and in 3 days transformed it into a show room closet. In the end this closet was well organized built-ins that would rival a main living area.

As you start to design your closet, there are a variety of areas and points to consider as follows:

· Areas for shoes (both standard, and higher boot styles) making them easily visible
· Hanging rods for short items such as shirts and pants
· Hanging rods for long garments, such as dresses
· Personal care items that can be placed complementary baskets

Also consider items that can be placed on any open wall area for both functional use, as well as aesthetic appeal such as a mirror and pictures. A mirror can serve multiple purposes.

· Functional use as a mirror when dressing
· Reflects the overhead lighting to further illuminate the shelving and lower areas
· To give the perception of the space being even bigger

Before you start to design the layout, it is important to understand how much storage areas you currently have to make sure you end up with more space in the end.

1. Measure how many linear feet of hanging rods you have for:
Short clothing such as shirts
Long clothing such as dresses.
2. How many feet of shoe space do you have
3. Amount of shelving for shirts and other items.

Create a floor plan by measuring the room size including:

· Length and width
· The ceiling height
· Identify any other obstructions that may be in the area such as a ceiling beam.

Next draw a scaled sketch of the floor plan on drafting paper and identify each wall area and assign a function:

· Shoes
· General storage
· Hanging rods for hanging shirts, pants
· Hanging Rods for long garments such as dresses
· Location of furniture pieces like the dressers.

3. Designing A One Of A Kind Closet

Now that you know what you have to work with lets get down to designing your custom closet. You could purchase a complete closet kit that everything easily fits together, or create a completely custom closet with hand crafted cabinets and woodwork. The approach we will take is a way to get that fully custom look by taking advantage of furniture that is readably available.

Depending upon what your budget is, you may be able to find a dresser for as little as $30 at a yard sale, or more upscale with a vintage piece of furniture that can become the focal point of your closet. Remember a closet is not just for storage, but can also be an extension of your living space.

A unique approach to creating a custom closet is to use antique furniture or other furniture that you purchased at a flea market. The furniture does not have to be in great condition but you do want to be sure that it functions properly, drawers and doors work well, as well as will fit into the space you have defined. For small closet areas, the biggest challenge will be to find a furniture piece that fits, as well as is proportionate to the area.

By starting with some existing furniture pieces you can see what works for you, and then design the rest of the closet around it.

4. Finish Carpentry and Final Notes

You could stop now that you have all of the storage areas in place, but without the finishing
touches it will only look to be 50% complete even though it is fully functional. Applying a variety of moldings will add the finishing touches making your closet look like a piece of furniture rivaling that of a professional woodworker The other benefit of this trim is that it will hide many of the irregularities between the pieces and the walls.

One of the simplest molding installations for the Do It Yourself person uses corner (plinth) blocks and base blocks. The use of these accessories eliminates the need for bevel and miter cuts, and requires only straight cuts, and putting the pieces together by butting them next to one another.

Designing and installing a custom closet provides both added functionality and improved home appearance. A well designed closet is efficient and provides an easy way to keep things organized.

With the instructions specified in this E-book you should be able to do the initial design of a closet as well as the installation, or have a few ideas that you can discuss with your closet designer. By taking these ideas and an open mind, you will be able to find many other ways to use furniture in your home building projects, such as custom sink vanities, and other special build-ins.

Have you ever wondered how leather was made? Where did leather come from? There are several stories and facts to answer these questions. Our purpose in writing this article is to try to explain as we have researched where leather originated and how it was made, up to the present time.

IN THE BEGINNING

We’ve all heard the saying “old as dirt” or “old as water” Well leather is about as old. If you look at Genesis 3:21 “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God made coats of skins, and clothed them.” In the beginning and is true to this day leather is a product of nature. God gave us the knowledge and skills through time to develop what nature provided into many useful things.

STONE AGE

Cavemen hunted for survival and in doing so used all parts of the animals they killed. The skin of the animals was used for protection in the way of tents, clothing and a sort of footwear. There have been sites found in Spain that have produced bone tools that was thought to have been used for scraping hides and skins. This process was done to remove hair and meat from the skin. The skins were then stretched and dried to be used for clothing as well as tents. For not knowing at this time how to tan the skins and hides they did not last long. A process referred to as putrefaction would cause the skins to get hard which would make them unwearable.

PRESERVATION

Preservation also known as tanning is an art in itself. There are many different ways to tan a hide depending on its use. One of the earliest methods of tanning was to stretch the hide on the ground and rub it with brains and fats from the animal while it was drying. This was a way to soften the hide, but was not a process that would last. The oak bark process of tanning as history tells it was created by the ancient Hebrews. This process is still used today. During the early days of the Roman Empire was when some of the tanner’s guilds appeared. Leather products at this time consisted of some types of footwear, clothes and military equipment. Some other materials used in tanning were natural by using decaying leaves and vegetation. Earth salts that contained alum was discovered later. As time went on a process of tanning using chromium salts developed by an American Chemist reduced the time it takes to tan leather. This process takes hours to do rather than weeks or months.

LEATHER PRODUCTS

Since the beginning of leather manufacturing from the caveman and before to the present man has used hides or skins for the protection from the elements, warmth, and to make weapons and many other leather products. Technology in the tanning of leather has made it possible to manufacture quality leather in boots, shoes, jackets, purses and so many more items.

SUMMARY

It is known throughout history that different cultures across the world had one common factor. That factor being, respecting life and honoring that which has given them life and provided for them after death. The human race has sacrificed animals since the beginning of time so that we could feed our families, provide clothing, houses and many other necessities to sustain our lives. Leather and the products made from leather is one of lifes most valuable commodities. Through present technology leather products are affordable to any person that has a need.

For some of you, this question might seem a little silly. Of course if you already knew what the term pay per click meant, you wouldn’t be reading this article. Maybe you’re just curious about what my definition of pay per click is. For those of you reading this who are brand new to Internet marketing and don’t know what pay per click is, this article should give you a pretty good education on the subject.

Pay per click is really just as it sounds. You pay each time a person clicks on an advertised ad to your website. How much you pay is dependent on a number of factors, and that is really where pay per click advertising can run you through the mill if you’re not careful.

The main pay per click services are probably Google, Yahoo and MSN. Google is by far the most popular as they arguably have the top ranked search engine in the world. Actually, if you want to be technical, according to the latest Alexa rankings, Yahoo is number 1, Google is number 3 and MSN is number 2. But don’t let anybody kid you, as far as pay per click goes, Google practically has a monopoly on the service.

On a purely technical level, pay per click is very simple. You sign up with the pay per click service that you want to use, set up your ads, tell the service the maximum amount your want to spend each time somebody clicks on one of your ads and that’s pretty much it. Unfortunately, running a successful pay per click campaign is not so easy. Just as unfortunately, the how to of running a successful pay per click campaign is beyond the scope of this article. In my signature is a resource that will give you additional information on the subject.

Before you even decide to get involved with running a pay per click campaign, get as much information that you can about each pay per click service, because each one has a different terms of service. For example, some services require you to pay for a certain number of clicks in advance, even before you get them. Other services, like Google, only charge you after you have gotten clicks to your site. They do, however, have a setup fee for getting an account with them.

The point is, don’t go into pay per click advertising blindly. The costs can really kill you if you don’t know what you’re doing. Ads that shouldn’t cost you more than 10 cents for each click can end up costing you much more. Not targeting your advertising to certain geographic locations can also cost you money in wasted clicks. The list of things that can go wrong and cost you a fortune are endless. So get educated. Pay per click advertising is not something that you casually do. It is something that requires hours of research before you can really take on a pay per click campaign and run it successfully.

The following story is true. The names have been changed to protect the innocent.

But there isn’t anything that’s going to protect YOU from the very same thing happening in YOUR life unless you deserve what you want and put to an end any mindset whatsoever that would cause you to “settle”.

Here’s the deal.

About two years ago Billy Bob went to a bar, hopefully to meet some women. After throwing the proverbial “spaghetti against the wall” to see what “stuck”, lo and behold he got a woman named Mary Meenow to talk to him. She gave him her number. He called her and asked her out the “customary” three days later.

A few weeks went by, and Mary started bugging Billy Bob about becoming “exclusive”. “Make me your girlfriend or I’m outta here!”, she announced. After an audible wussy-boy sigh, Billy Bob feverishly rifled through the file cards in his head but gave in. After all, it was hella easier than going out there “sarging” some more, huh?

So Billy Bob and Mary soldiered on a few more months. Finally, Mary uttered the inevitable: “Hey my friend told me today that her boyfriend asked her to marry him, and we’ve been dating longer than they have!” Billy Bob was flustered and avoided the issue. But Mary was persistent. Only a couple of days passed by before she dropped the Weapon Of Mass Destruction: “I’ve had it with your non-committal attitude. Either I get a ring from you or I’m walking. You have five days to think about it.”

And so the ultimatum had been issued. Using the exact same logic he drew from months before, Billy Bob showed up with a ring four days later.

Within two weeks they got married in Vega$.

Only a mere thirty days went by before Billy Bob-a military man-got orders out to a base 1500 miles away. Mary, who had a son in school, decided to wait behind for the duration of the six month deployment rather than pick up and move only to move back half a year from now.

Shortly thereafter, she got a call. Billy Bob was being sent out to sea for 90 days, during which time any communication would be all but impossible.

But it was only a month and a half or so before Mary got another surprise call from Billy Bob. He had gone through her email account somehow, and read where she told a friend about having gone Salsa dancing the other night. (Note: If you are thinking this whole jigsaw puzzle is missing a couple of pieces, I’m right there with you.) Billy Bob was angry, branded her a “cheater” and declared that he wanted a divorce.

Click.

So what happened here?

Well, Mary isn’t a cheater. And furthermore, here it is: Billy Bob doesn’t actually think so either.

It’s just that he…well, uh…he sorta hasn’t really…um…missed her a whole lot since he has been gone. It isn’t like he even looks at her picture much. And he darn skippy didn’t use whatever precious Internet access time he had to email her, let alone mix in a Skype account.

He doesn’t love her anymore. In fact he probably never did. Worse, he doesn’t have the masculine strength to admit it to her, therefore he scapegoats her with a ridiculous excuse.

How do I know all this? Simple: men who LOVE their cheating wives typically respond to discovery of infidelity with hurt and denial rather than a quick and dirty exit.

He SETTLED. And SO DID SHE.

This is what happens when there is no effort made to deserve what one wants, and two people allow themselves to be okay with accepting whomever “happens to come along”. Both Mary and Billy Bob DID NOT choose each other. They accepted each other vis-à-vis circumstance, and once they did both were too insecure with their own ability to deserve that they dreaded the concept of breaking up and “starting all over” with someone else more than they did staying together.

At least until now, when the house of cards has collapsed.

Absolutely go out and meet some people-at a bar, club or even in the elevator. But don’t be a Billy Bob. Deserve what you want and never, ever “settle”.

In 1999 I gave birth to my first child, a sweet little girl. When my daughter was 4 months old I had to return to work. I worked in an office and my employer was kind enough to allow me to bring her to work with me. It was in that office that she learned to crawl and eventually take her first wobbly steps.

When she began to walk, at 9 months of age, my employer gave me two options:
A) Put her in daycare
B) Quit
I had 2 weeks to make a decision. …….. I quit. Not only could we NOT afford the cost of daycare, but I didn’t want to put her in daycare. I heard too many daycare horror stories to risk having some stranger raise my kid. I began looking for something else.

I did find another job and then another and another. After a few years I had 3 children who had never seen the inside of a daycare and I was finally telecommuting for yet another new employer. Now I was still a full-time working mother of three but I worked from home. Do you think that I was finally content? I was for awhile….and then I discovered something….as a telecommuter I could only go so far with the company. After 3 years with the company I realized that since I wouldn’t come to work in the office full-time I had pretty much reached my cap. My career with the company had flat-lined. No, I didn’t lose my job. But I couldn’t expect to grow with them either.

It was around this time that my oldest daughter, now in first grade, started asking me to help out in her classroom. My answer was always “I can’t honey. I have to work”. When her class went to the zoo for a field trip, I was unable to go. Routinely, I would save my 30 minute lunch break for when she got out of school so I could load up the other 2 kids and race to pick her up. Inevitably she would want to stop for an after school treat and, inevitably, I would tell her “Not today honey. Mommy has to get back to work”.

One day she was very quiet after school and so I asked her what was wrong. She began to cry. She told me she wanted me to quit my job. She said that she was the only one in her class whose parent hadn’t come to either help in the classroom or go on a field trip. Seeing her cry like that broke my heart. I mean it really did break. I felt actual pain in my heart listening to her. But I couldn’t quit my job. We needed my income. I wasn’t working for the LOVE of work. I was working for the LOVE of my family. We needed my income. And even though I was able to telecommute from home (which is more than a lot of parents can say) it wasn’t enough for her. Skipping out on work, playing hookey to go to her classroom was not an option either. My employers knew when I was not working fulfilling my responsibilities. There is no faking it.

Shortly after I had my heart handed to me by my 6 1/2 year old I found out I was pregnant with child number 4. I was happy about the baby but I was also scared. I wanted to be the kind of mom who went on field trips, played silly games during the day, took them out for ice cream after school or let them ditch school to go to the Arabian Horse Show (which my mom used to take me to every year as a child). I want their childhood memories to be something they look back on with a smile on their face. I don’t want their memory to be of me sitting at the computer working all day telling while telling them ‘no’.

I remember crying to my husband telling him that I felt I was failing miserably and that something had to give. Something had to change. I had to do SOMETHING! We talked about starting an online business. Since I work on the internet anyway, why not take what I have learned over the past few years and start my own website. The problem was that I didn’t think I could do it. I didn’t know html and I didn’t graduate college with a degree in business or computer technology. I also didn’t know what type of business to start. Starting a Home Based Internet Business sounds like a great idea. It is drilling that idea down into workable details that I was having the problem with.

My dad kept telling me about these commercials he had seen on television about people making money working from home on the internet. “Others are doing it. You are smart. Why not you?” So I started looking into it. I was skeptical at best. Listen, I had been a full-time employee and full-time mother for the past several years. I had done my share of searching for a home based JOB. I even tried some “easy” home based businesses where I was supposed to make “big money” in a week. In other words, I had been scammed before. Only now I had to be extra careful. We couldn’t afford to lose money. Having 3.5 kids, a mortgage and plenty of other bills, I couldn’t afford to be wrong.

I began searching for my online opportunity. This time my searching landed me on the PIPS sale page. I read through it a few times and thought about it a lot. Stone Evans sounded like the real deal to me. I searched for anything on the internet that tied Stone Evans or PIPS (Plug-in Profit Site) to internet scams. Since my current employment dealt with detecting internet fraud I was going to make sure I didn’t fall victim to fraud myself. But everything I found only further cemented in my mind that Stone and PIPS were real. I began to get excited about the possibilities that owning my own internet business could bring. Specifically, I began to get excited about what opportunities PIPS could bring. The benefits you get from owning a PIPS site are what sealed the deal for me.

* Complete website already set up with products/offers that make me money.
* A website that I have complete control over so I can change, add or remove products.
* A 400 day pre-written newsletter that automatically follows-up with visitors for me.
* A training guide with step-by-step instructions on how to build my business.
* 24/7 support
* Access to the Warrior Forum - a forum where internet marketers from all facets of life, all different niches and different experiences converge to share thoughts, ideas, help each other succeed and make beneficial networking contacts. The Warrior Forum even had a PIPS specific part of the forum where all PIPS members could assist each other in finding success.

There were more bonuses included in the PIPS opportunity, but these listed above were what sold me. I took the plunge.

I remember getting my first PIPS sale. I about had a heart attack I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to call my husband and my parents to tell them the good news. I then jumped on the Warrior Forum (which has become my home away from home) and shared the news with everyone there. I knew that this was the beginning of a great adventure!

At the time of this writing, I am still employed full-time. My fourth child has been born. Juggling a full-time job with being a full-time parent, building my own internet home based business, keeping up with the house cleaning and laundry and everything that is involved in raising 4 children is hard. I do get overwhelmed at times. Sometimes I feel like I may be drowning. But I look at my children….all FOUR of them and I am reminded of why I am doing this. I am working my business for them. The J.O.B. is temporary. Building my own business will allow me to be the kind of mother I always wanted to be…the kind of mother my children deserve. I am working my business so that I can eventually fire my boss and still bring in the kind of income that will open new doors for my family and finally take some of the pressure off of my husband for a change.

Is there hope for the working parent? Absolutely. But to experience change you have to take an active role in implementing change. Starting a home based business is not a “quick fix”. There is no “Get Rich Scheme”. You can try other “business” opportunities that promise huge income in a very short time. You will be disappointed. Having a successful home based business requires work. It is up to you how much time and effort you are willing to invest. You will get out what you put in. Remember that you are building something for your future. My future is looking very bright and I have PIPS to thank.

Two Ways Our Newspapers Are Committing Suicide

Most major American newspapers are scoring a painful trifecta: losing readers, waving goodbye to advertisers, and firing journalists. Why is this happening?

Sure, the internet is a big problem. But I can mention two other reasons which the embattled newspapers don’t like to mention. The first is real simple. Rush Limbaugh is worth hundreds of millions of dollars because many big newspapers refuse to do their job. They refuses, that is, to report news factually and impartially. (”Without fear or favor”–as one major paper used to boast.)

It’s clear that the editors of many papers are more in love with a personal political agenda than with a bottom line. Admirable? Not if you, like me, wish to have a news source that you can totally trust. Here’s what is clearly not admirable: that editors are willing to engage in spin and propaganda. Journalistic integrity demands the opposite.

Here’s the truly odd part about all this. Anybody smart enough to read a newspaper can find many other sources: network programs, cable, internet, talk radio, magazines, and blogs. Newspapers should be trying harder than ever to earn our trust; instead they squander that trust.

Some of these big papers have a transparent agenda: abortion, gay marriage, global warming, taxes, socialism, and the death penalty. I don’t have to tell you the paper’s position on any of this, do I? You know the positions all too well, because these liberal papers preach, from first page to last, smugly and condescendingly. No wonder that readers flee.

My local paper (in Norfolk, Va.) recently covered tornados in Florida with big headlines and lots of text. Last summer, a heat wave got similarly breathless coverage, with constant repetitions of which temperature readings were record highs. (All of this without mentioning either the “heat island effect” or the receding ice caps on other planets–both of which tend to nullify the claim of a record). On the other hand, an horrific Arctic front (in early 2007) was covered in small stories. Most striking, there was no mention of record lows. The temperature hit 30 and 40 below zero in Wisconsin, numbers I found almost incredible. I had to go on the internet to find out that some towns did set records.

But the suicide-prone media won’t give this information because it might cause readers to doubt the endless sermons about global warming.

Why not just report the facts?

———

A second reason for the newspapers’ decline is that the liberal media unthinkingly support the education establishment, on the mistaken assumption that this group represents some sort of progressive or liberal high ground. In fact, the educational establishment is often better described as regressive, for keeping students uninformed, giving future workers few tools for success, and favoring oddball reading theories that cause dyslexia and functional illiteracy.

There is in fact no necessary link between the politics of our education establishment and anyone’s progressive values. This is a deception that unthinking liberals fall for. Antonio Gramsci, a real Communist, advocated giving poor children lots of basic academic skills, so they can escape poverty. What, pray tell, is “progressive” about schools that allow children to graduate without being able to read or write properly? No, the only sure link is the one between the media’s support of intellectually flabby educators and the continuing decline of the media themselves. Why don’t they see it: the schools are killing off their customer base!

Last year my local paper ran three stories attacking charter schools, essentially the same story, in every case besmirching the charter concept on some slender statistical point. The larger point is that we need competition; we need experimentation; we need every approach we can find. A smart media would be telling us all the good things about charter schools, parochial schools, homeschooling, etc., and the bad things about the near-monopoly now abused by the public schools.

Experts say this country has more than 40,000,000 functional illiterates. People are ignorant about even the most basic stuff. Where’s New York? Which way is the Pacific Ocean? What is France?…Seriously, how can people who don’t have any background information enjoy reading a newspaper?

How to save the newspapers? First, they have to start believing in Truth and reporting the truth. Banish political correctness when it conflicts with factual correctness. Second, realize that education, as it’s often practiced in public schools, is not the friend but the enemy of newspapers. If our newspapers had better judgment, they would demand more achievement in the public schools, and more objectivity in their own pages.
