Job Burnout and Corporate World

Who would deny the fact that we are under constant stress at work? We had not heard much about job burnout until about a decade and a half back. The alarming pace at which job burnout is taking place has not only made the corporate world to sit up and take notice of the malady, but also take remedial measures to deal with it.

Coping with job burnout begins with work conditions at office. Work environments need to be worker-friendly so that workers do not feel a strain on their energies. When it comes to deadlines, there is a heavy demand on individual or team energy. Such consistent demands normally lead to stress, and then gradually to work related burnout. A work environment where collective and individual energies are under constant pressure to deliver, individual careers and health are seriously affected.

Symptoms of Job Burnout

·-Constant feeling of listlessness and being tired
·-Frequent bouts of forgetfulness
·-Not wanting to get up in the morning
·-Unexplained anger and irritability
·-Losing temper on trivial matters
·-Losing control over things at work and home
·-Remaining under constant stress
·-Lack of initiative coupled with lethargy
·-Questioning your career and being indecisive about it
·-Going through the motions without much focus on personal and team goals
·-Suffering from constant or frequent bouts of headaches, chest pain, and/or hypertension
·-Feeling of plain helplessness

If an individual shows any three or above of these symptoms persistently, chances are that he or she is heading towards serious job burnout.

The Way Out
Stress is an energy guzzler. People suffering from high stress or burnout invariably have a weak energy body. With low vitality levels, how can they be expected to work towards achieving organizational goals? No organization that has invested in training and nurturing its workforce can afford to lose people to stress and burnout.

The remedy lies in building up strong energy and vitality levels in individuals, which can be achieved through energy build-up processes propagated thousands of years ago by exponents of that era. People suffering from burnout have shown a complete turn around in a short span following the energy and vitality building techniques, since these are easy to learn and practice.

Finding Your Flow

Have you ever had one of those moments when everything in your life feels as if everything is working wonderfully, effortlessly well? That’s known as being “in flow” — aligned with the essence of your being and in harmony with the environment around you. It’s an amazing feeling, isn’t it? So how does that happen, and how can you enjoy those sorts of moments more often in your life?

Probably the easiest way to understand this process is to think about a time when you’re definitely NOT in flow. Let me give you an example… At the moment, I’m working several days a week in the city. I travel in by tram, which is pretty restful as I get to sit and read a book or listen to my iPod. At most, it normally takes me 45 minutes door to door, including getting my morning coffee on the way.

Recently, like many other commuters in my city, I had a somewhat different experience. There was a brake problem discovered in some of the suburban train fleet, resulting in mass cancellations (a pretty good reason to pull trains out of service, I realise) — forcing commuters to crowd onto trams and buses. That day it took me an hour and a half to get into work, twice as long as usual, and I had to stand crammed in like sardines the whole way — thus getting me into work in a decidedly grumpy state.

After that bad start, I felt really off my game for the entire day — everything felt much harder going than it should have been. I was very relieved when I made it to the end of the day. As I was leaving, one of my colleagues wished me a good journey home. I replied: “Well, it can’t be any worse than this morning, can it?” Huh, famous last words!

I get to the tram stop and stand there waiting for about 20 minutes, but no trams arrive. At peak hour like this, normally one or other tram comes along on that line about every five minutes. By this time a huge crowd of commuters is milling around at the stop. Then a driver of a tram going in the opposite direction leans out his window and tells us that a tram has broken down further along the line, so all outward-bound trams have been diverted to another line. Sigh.

So I walk four blocks to get onto another tram. Wait, and wait some more. An impossibly full tram goes past, and then another… Finally I manage to squeeze onto a tram and make it home at last. And it only took me an hour and twenty-five minutes to get home — yay, a five-minute improvement on the morning’s effort! Hmm, not one of my best days.

Next day, knowing that there would still be trains out of commission and determined to avoid a repeat of my stressful commuting experience, I decide to try catching a bus instead. However I don’t approach this in exactly a positive frame of mind. I think to myself: “I hope the bus isn’t too crowded, so that I can get a seat… I hope it’s not running too late… I hope it doesn’t take forever to get there, with all the extra traffic on the roads…”

Spotting kind of a negative thought pattern here, are you? And sure enough, my bus ride lived up to all my worst expectations — it was running horrendously late; it was so crowded I could barely even find standing room, much less a seat; and it took forever to battle it’s way into town against the traffic. Oh and did I mention that, while I was waiting at the bus stop, I watched a number of trams sail by in the distance? Naturally, with seats to spare…

But this time I finally GOT it! I realised that I had been having all these bad travelling experiences, because that’s what I had been expecting. I was creating a negative state, because of my negative state of mind. So right then and there I determined that my journey home would be different.

And here’s how I did it… Instead of stressing about the detail of how to be at the tram stop at exactly the right time in order to be lucky enough to catch exactly the right tram — and in the process thinking about all the things that could go wrong — I allowed myself to be completely relaxed about it.

First, I let go of all the stress… What does it matter what time I get there? What does it matter if I wait… if I sit or stand? However and whenever I get home — it’s all good. Then, I thought about how it would feel to arrive home quickly and easily, and comfortably. I pictured this in my mind and allowed myself to feel relaxed and good about it. And I simply held that positive outcome as my expectation, without thinking about how it might happen.

That day, I left work and stepped straight onto a tram. And into a seat. On the way home, I realised I needed to pick up a few things from the supermarket, so I got off a few stops early in order to do that. My supermarket shopping experience was an absolute breeze. I went in there with no conscious thought in my mind, but subconsciously I must have still been in a very relaxed state. I only had to buy half a dozen things, but I swear that every item was on sale! I only had to think of something, go to the shelf… and bingo… it was on sale!

After the first couple of times I was merely smiling away to myself, but I must have been grinning like a complete idiot by the time I got to the checkout (oh, and in case you’re wondering, I got the good queue at the checkout) because the woman at the cash register says, smiling back at me: “You look like you’re having a good day!” I burst out laughing and reply: “I am NOW!” Then, still smiling, I walk to the tram stop to catch the tram the last leg home and, lo and behold, my tram arrives instantly! Just a slight difference to my previous experiences, eh?

For me, this was such a graphic illustration of what it feels like — and what happens — when you allow yourself to be in flow. Admittedly, everything being on sale at the supermarket may have been overkill in getting the message across to me, but I did get it (and appreciate it, tee hee!). The amazing thing is how easy it is to create this state for yourself.

You see, the secret of experiencing flow is to focus on the outcome you want, NOT on what you have to do to get there. Because when you start worrying about the detail of whether you’re doing everything right along the way, you attract all the things you don’t want to have happen — your doubts and fears will take over, exactly as happened to me with my earlier tram and bus journeys.

When you’re in flow, you’re allowing yourself to enjoy the moment and accept it as it is, while holding a positive expectation that you’ll get to where you need to go, comfortably and easily. Try this for yourself… it really works!

If You Apply These Five Advanced Article Marketing Tips You Can Create Your Own Web Traffic Storm

Posting articles on article distribution sites is one of the latest methods that web site owners and SEO experts employ to get more and better quality traffic. Articles allow you to get multiple quality one-way links with a lost less effort and better results than link exchanges. By consistently applying the following tips you will increase you web site traffic.

Invest time in a great headline. A catchy headline that offers the reader a real benefit will draw readers and visitors. Use concrete and credible words that make the reader excited about reading the article. Words like “free’, “amazing” and “new” are often overused and are less likely to draw cynical readers.

Try to be specific, beneficial and believable. “How to travel in luxury and see the best sites in Sydney for less than $30 per day” is a good example of a specific, beneficial and believable headline.

Work on your signature/bio. Second only to the title, the anchor text in your bio is the most important part of your article. The anchor text should include that key word phrase that you want to rank highly on in the search engine results page. If you want to rank highly on the term “Sydney limousine hire” then make damned sure Sydney limousine hire is a part of the bio and that that phrase describes the link to your web site. Look at the resource box for this article and try to work out what keyword phrase I am trying to rank highly on.

Register a Google alert. To track your progress in Google, register a Google alert for the headline of the article you are about to submit. When you register the alert, make sure you put the title of your article in quotes. Each day Google will send you an e-mail showing where your article’s headline appears. You should start to see results in 3-4 days.

You will be stunned where you article shows up, often in sites where you didn’t submit it. This is because many article directories syndicate their content to other web sites. By registering a Google alert you will also be able to track down article thieves who copy you work and submit it as their own.

Register with multiple article submission sites. The most time consuming part of article submission is the initial registration process with the article directories. Once it is done, you can keep on using the same directories to post your articles (it’s probably easier to use the same username and password for every site).

To find the good article directories, go to your favourite search engine and search on “list of article directories”. Aim to register with at least 50 different directories. For an excellent list of directories with good PageRank, send an e-mail to directories@searchtempo.com

Experience shows that an article submitted to 50 different article directories with reasonable page rank should generate over 200 back links within 3-6 months. This is good news for your Page Rank and for generating organic traffic.

Automate the process with macros. You can save heaps of time by using macro software to paste your article text into the submission forms on article directories. A very useful application is called Hot Keyboard Pro. You can trial it for 21 days.

With this software you can program different keys to perform different tasks. For example, you could program F1 to paste in the title, F2 to paste in the article summary, F3 to paste in the article body, F4 to paste in the author’s bio/resource text and F5 to paste in the article keywords.

With practice your macros should enable you to submit to 50 sites per hour.

Look Where We Are Today

Everybody and every place is now doing it. Hell, you can even get online access at McDonald’s and Burger King. There is a small charge at these 2 places but Panera Bread offers it for free to customers. I have always told people in the past that if they want to get online and don’t have internet access at home then they should visit their local library. Pretty soon, while going to the bathroom, you will be able to access the internet.

I’m suprised that Steve Jobs has not done something with this yet. I mean he has Ipods that are toilet paper dispensers so you can listen to music while in the bathroom. He has tennis shoes, Nike i believe, that have a built in Ipod. What about shoes with the ability to check your emails? What about hats that allow you to either watch TV or surf the net? We are getting so very close to being able to do things like this.

50 years ago if you had told people that pretty soon we would be buying water in the bottle they would have thought you were nuts. What about paying $3 for a cup of coffeee? I remember being able to get a burger and a cup of coffee for a buck. I can ever remember comic books for only a quarter. I was looking at comic books at wal-Mart the other day and I almost had a heart attack, some of them were almost $10, most were at least $5.

When I was about 5 years old I still have this memory of my dad complaining about the 32 cents per gallon for gasoline. Imagine if he could have taken a look into the future to see the $4 we were paying last year? I used to work in an ice cream parlor when I was just out of high school and senior citizens were always asking about ice cream cones with a scoop of ice cream for like a quarter.

Think back to when people only had maybe a radio for entertainment, life must have been boring back then. Look at everything a kid has at their disposal today. Remember the video game pong and breakout. Thats all that was available when I was a kid. I had a handheld football game but that was only a light you had to push across a small screen.

A Short History Of Bracelets

The earliest known bracelets hark back to 2500 BC, worn by the ancient Sumerians of Southern Mesopotamia. Bracelets, along with other jewelry like anklets, earrings, necklaces, and rings, were worn by the women to show off the wealth of their husbands. As such, they were a symbol of status - much like some jewelry is to this day. They often had religious connotations in addition to the perception of wealth and adornment. Bracelets were enjoyed for many centuries after this time but emerged as highly coveted pieces of jewelry in Ancient Egypt in 2000 BC.

However, bracelets became increasingly popular with men during Grecian times - soldiers wore defensive bands of leather often decorated with gold, silver, and other gemstones on their forearms. They were called Bracels, from the Latin term for arm, “Brachium”. The Grecian women realized that these accessories would look good on them, so they began wearing smaller versions - called Bracel-ets. The idea took favor and the fashion spread far and wide.

The history of bracelets spans ages, reaching up to the present time. They have been crafted from different materials, and have always been popular - bracelets have varied according to dress styles and, of course, dictated by fashion. Bracelets are worn by men and women alike today, and bracelets today are not only of traditional materials, but also of acrylics and modern plastics. They make for trendy, unique items of jewelry. Some bracelets are also crafted from metals like titanium and zirconium, which have become popular because of their lightness and hypoallergenic properties.

About UGG Australia - The Growth of the UGG Australia Boot

UGG Australia is a brand name for fashionable sheepskin boots. Sheepskin
footwear has long been popular in the rural areas of Australia, and its
popularity increased as the product was discovered by surfers and others.
Even though one would think lined sheepskin is very hot, the way they allow
air to circulate prevents feet from overheating.

The boots achieved some notoriety during the world wars when pilots searched
for footwear that was warm and comfortable on their cold flights in high
altitude. Swimmers and surfers also discovered the product in the 1960s and
took to wearing them in public even though the boots had previously only been
worn around the home. They became even more popular and gained worldwide
exposure when Brian Smith, a surfer from Australia, took a pair of UGG
Australia Boots to the U.S. and impressed California surfers.

Soon UGG Australia Boots were seen all over the U.S., and UGG® Australia was
purchased by Deckers Outdoor Corporation (1995). They developed new designs
over the years, and the line now includes slippers, casual shoes, and many
boot designs. Now the brand is recognized as a popular, high-end fashion
footwear and is even seen on runway models in popular fashion shows worldwide.

Even Oprah Winfrey has enjoyed the fashion statement-Oprah featured the UGG
Australia boot three times on her shows and the resulting exposure (and her
high opinion of them) is one of the many reasons for the boot’s increased
popularity. In fact, Oprah was so excited by the comfort and warmth of UGG Boots that she ordered them for her entire staff of 350 people.

Despite trademark conflicts, the Deckers Outdoor Corporation has made the UGG
Australia Boot a household name. Even those who don’t own a pair recognize
the designs and make.

Occasionally an actor will be seen in UGG Australia
Boots. Pamela Anderson wore them during shooting for Baywatch, and several
others have worn them for advertisements for the UGG Brand. UGG Australia has
popularized sheepskin boots, slippers, and shoes and now distributes the product worldwide.

Teaching Children - Should You Let Nature Take Its Course Or Intervene?

One tough dilemma for any parent is to know when to let children learn for themselves from the consequences of their own actions and when to intervene to teach them a lesson. This is sometimes referred to as natural consequences or logical consequences and the principle is simple but its execution is not always easy.

A common example of a natural consequence might be seen in the kitchen where if a child touches the hotplate while you’re cooking he’ll burn his hand. Here the child learns a lesson from nature without any need for you to intervene. However, this is perhaps something of an extreme example.

Let’s say a child wants to buy a model airplane and that you agree to help by paying him to wash the car each week, rather than taking it as you normally would to the carwash, so that he can save enough money to buy the model. However, with money in his pocket he can’t resist the temptation to spend it and by the time he should have saved enough for the model airplane he’s already spent most or all of his money on junk. At this point of course he probably still expects to receive the model airplane and is surprised when he doesn’t.

In both of these cases the child has learn a valuable lesson from the natural consequences of his own actions and you have played no active part in teaching him these lessons. This is perhaps the best way to teach any lesson and the child benefits whether the result is good or bad. If the child had not for example spent the money earned by washing the car and had been able to buy the model he would equally have learned the value of working and saving for something and would also have learned the value of the model itself, since he had to work and save to get it.

But let’s return to the example of the child putting his hand on the hotplate. This is certainly one way for the child to learn a lesson but no parent is going to stand by and watch their child learn a lesson in this manner. In many cases the consequences of a child’s action are serious or long-lasting and you need to intervene and find some other way to teach the child the lesson he needs to learn.

The secret here is to ensure that your intervention is seen as part of the logical consequence had the child been allowed to learn the lesson without your intervention.

Let’s say for example that your teenage daughter rents a movie from the local corner shop but forgets to return it on time so that she incurs a late fee. Now, assuming that she doesn’t have the money to pay the late fee, you give her the money so that she can return the movie.

At this point you could punish her by forbidding her to rent any further movies for the next month but this is not a logical consequence of her action of not returning the movie on time, which was to incur a late fee. It would be far better therefore to punish her by deducting the late fee from her allowance. Because this punishment is directly related to the late return of the movie she is much more likely to remember to return the next movie she rents on time.

Some lessons of course are easier to teach than others. If your seventeen year old son has unprotected sex with his sixteen year old girlfriend the natural consequences of an unwanted pregnancy could have life-long consequences. But how do you intervene to stop this happening?

Unfortunately there’s no simple answer to this one and how you tackle the problem will depend very much upon your own personal and family circumstances and the relationship which you have built up with your son. What is certain is that you cannot simply sit back and let nature take its course if you feel that there is a danger of your son getting himself into trouble.

For each and every situation that faces us as parents we have to decide whether our children can learn for themselves through their own experience, or whether we need to intervene to help in the learning process. In addition, having decided that intervention is necessary we need to intervene wherever possible in a manner that follows the natural consequences of the child’s action. Here there is no stock answer to the problem and you need to be guided by your own experience.

Attract Your Ideal Partner

It’s amazing how specific people can be about a new car or even a washing machine, yet still be hopelessly vague about what they’re looking for in a new partner! Uh… tall, dark and handsome? Rich and successful? Well, good looks or wealth might be nice, but what is really important to you? And how do you go about attracting a partner with those qualities? The following steps will help you to get clear about what you want in a new relationship and take action to attract it into your life.

Step 1: Identify the Qualities that Matter…
What are the qualities you’re looking for in your ideal partner? Perhaps some of the following:

loving, demonstrative, intelligent, witty, sensitive, independent, reliable, committed, financially responsible, fun, spontaneous, romantic, compassionate, whimsical, spiritually aware, honest, open, faithful, sensual, tender, adventurous, athletic, passionate, creative, tactile, nurturing, generous, optimistic, considerate…

Take a moment now to brainstorm a list of the qualities that really matter to you in a partner. Some qualities may be what you have and appreciate within yourself, others may be completely different.

Then go through your list and choose the FIVE qualities that you consider most important. Select words that have meaning to you and evoke some sort of image or feeling along with them. Take your time with this and contemplate exactly what is it that your spirit yearns for in a mate.

Step 2: Describe Your Ideal Relationship…
Informed by your past experiences, answer the following questions as honestly as you can:
- How would you like your partner to behave towards you?
- How would you like to be with your partner?
- What would your ideal relationship look and feel like?
- What are your goals in desiring a new relationship?

Read back over what you’ve just written, and distil it down into a few sentences that sum up what you are looking for in your ideal relationship. Include the key qualities you identified in the previous step. Play with the words until you have something that feels powerful and really captures what’s in your heart. Pin the words up somewhere where you’ll see them often, to remind you of this feeling, or read through them to yourself morning and evening.

Step 3: Test Drive It…
Once you’ve found the words to describe your ideal relationship, the final step is to do a visualisation exercise to “test drive” it, as vividly as you can, to really see and feel how it would be to bring this into your life. To do this exercise, find a place and time when you will be able to relax completely and not be disturbed.

In doing a visualisation, you are simply asking your imagination to conjure up for you a sense of what it would be like to experience that which you desire. You may see pictures as you imagine this, hear sounds or discern scents, experience feelings in your body or perhaps just have a sense of knowingness. All of this is fine.

Once you are relaxed, imagine that you are now in your ideal relationship… In your mind, go through each of those five key qualities you identified as being the most important to you… How does a partner with those qualities behave towards you? What is your partner doing and saying? How does this make you feel? Take some time to imagine this in as much detail as you can.

Repeat this exercise as often as you wish, to affirm your desire to bring this experience into being now. The clearer you can be about articulating what really matters to you, and the stronger and more consistent your intent, the better the universe will be able to provide for you!

Traffic - 7 Ways To Generate Free Website Traffic

Generating free traffic is not always the impossible feat that it is made out to be. In fact, there are many different ways in which you can generate free traffic. Some are better than others; and some are especially effective in some niches, but not in others. Below, I’ve listed seven such methods:

1. Write articles and submit them to directories. Include a link in your resource box that points to your site. This will generate traffic and click throughs long after you publish it.

2. Add “keyword” pages to your site. You can do this by writing articles that are focused around a certain keyword and then simply uploading them to your site. When your site is indexed by the search engines, traffic will pick up for those keywords.

3. Begin finding link partners and exchanging links. This will not only get you direct click through traffic from other sites, but it will also get you search engine traffic once those sites are indexed and your site is given credit for the inbound links.

4. Create a high-quality flash video or real life video; add it to a page on your site. Post that video on You Tube, Break.com, and on all social bookmarking sites, such as http://del.icio.us, and http://www.technorati.com. If your video is exceptionally funny or interesting, people will begin to circulate your video around the Internet. Remember to include the URL of your site in the video, so
viewers can figure out how to find your products.

5. Create a free report on a specific subject related to your business. In that report, include a link to your site (preferably a newsletter opt-in form) every few pages. Take that report and give it away for free to every site owner in your niche. If you have a link to one of your products in that report, allow the site owner to rebrand it. That will make him much more likely to redistribute it.

6. Post regularly on forums related to your site. This is perhaps the easiest and quickest way to generate traffic. All it entails is creating an account on several good forums, making useful and interesting posts, and then including a signature file that allows readers to click through to your site.

7. Post free ads in places that actually get traffic. Using “free ad forums” may be a waste of time in many instances; however, bulletin boards that get traffic, but allow free advertisement, may be a good place to look.

If your current advertising budget is higher than you’d like, you should consider using free advertising. The seven tips I outlined above are just a few of the avenues you can take.
