The very word can bring feelings of anticipation or fear. These storms can leave an area devastated and people isolated from basic needs and services. For those of us who have lived near a beach in the United States they have become at best an expected annual nuisance. The weather channel builds each storm up to be a catastrophic killer that will topple even the strongest home, each broadcast beginning with dramatic footage of previous hurricane damage. I am surprised not to hear the voice of the movie preview guy saying things like “It was a storm like any other, until it was angered, and then there was no stopping it! - Arnold Schwarzenegger is the hurricane”. Why do they feel that an event such as a named storm heading toward people and their homes need any more drama than the actual event creates? And then only to find that minimal damage was suffered from the tropical storm or the category 1 hurricane.

You would think that we would never have an instance where a severe storm struck a community where the residents were unaware that the destruction and devastation was going to be more than they thought, or that they should have evacuated the area but did not, yet it happens time and again. The real damage is done where these storms hit communities of the elderly, where the special needs of individuals is not optional to their longevity.

In 2005 Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf region killing thousands and damaging entire cites in its path. Thousands of people were evacuated to other areas of the United States, not to return to their damaged homes for months if at all. How did this happen in the cry wolf society that we live in? We over dramatize everything, making mountains out of mole hills, building everything up to the worst possible scenario. So how could anyone be caught unaware?

I believe that the population of this country has become so numb to the possibility that something could happen to them that they turn a blind eye to the realities around them. These things happen to other people right? No need to worry about it anyway - You can’t change the outcome - What happens happens right? Well wake up people and open tour eyes, we as a nation need to find a way to put ourselves in the best possible position to protect ourselves. We live in a world where both the thinkable and the un-thinkable happen every day.

If your dog growls or snarls whenever you or another dog approach him in the presence of food , your dog may be exhibiting signs of dog food aggression.

This is a potentially serious form of dog aggression but is one that can be controlled with proper dog behavior modification techniques. Once accomplished your dog will be happier and safe from the unwanted consequences of aggressive behavior toward humans or other dogs.

If you believe that dog food aggression is evident in your dog’s behavior you should initially take him for a visit to the veterinarian. There are some medical conditions that can provoke this type of behavior in dogs.

Once cleared of any medical predisposition to aggressive behavior in the presence of food, you can move on to identifying the root cause of food aggression in your dog.
Dogs will exhibit food aggression, which is a form of dominant dog behavior, for a variety of reasons.

Here are a few common causes.

–Your dog may be insecure and believe that this bowl of food is the last bowl of food he will see for awhile.

–Your dog may need socializing to learn how to relate to humans and other dogs.

–Your dog may be lacking in exercise which is provoking excitability and a form of nervous dog aggression.

–Your dog may have suffered from abuse. This is a common problem with adopted and rescue dogs.

To determine the exact cause of food aggression in your dog you may want to consult with a qualified dog behavior specialist.

Some dog behavior specialists believe that you can address almost any dog behavior issue including dog food aggression by following a few simple techniques.

Initially, you should give the dog sufficient exercise to relieve pent up energy.

The next step is discipline which involves rewarding positive behavior in your dog but not by hurting your dog as punishment, in any way .

Dog owners that use physical punishment are not only inhumane but are also promoting and escalating the dog food aggression to an even higher and potentially more serious and dangerous level.

Lastly you would re-establish yourself as the dominant leader of the pack in your household. One way to do this is to have the dog wait for his food until you have completely finished eating.

In summary, dog aggression to food may be caused any medical ot behavioral issues. Once identified, you can work to resolve this type of dog aggression using proper and humane dog training techniques.

If in doubt, consult your veterinarian or a professional dog trainer or dog behavioral specialist. Don’t wait for the condition to escalate . And make sure that you never punish dog aggression by hitting or striking your dog. This will only make the condition worse, more difficult to modify and is unacceptable. Your dog deserves your love, affection and leadership. Take the proper steps today to correct dog aggression and you and your dog will both be happier.

Dog food aggression is only one of many types of dog aggression and dog behavior issues that can be modified to help you live a happier life with your dog. For more information visit at http://www.dogs-4life.com/disobedient-dog-help.html

Every so often, I will read a book that captures my attention so completely that I hate to put it down. Then I go back to it repeatedly, long after I have finished the review. Jackie Bushell’s 116-page ebook, Why Can’t I Lose Weight? (2006 DietPlateau.com) is such a book.

There are truckloads of diet books available that claim to have the “secrets” of weight loss, or the diet supplement or plan that is the long awaited magic bullet. Many are gimmicks, some are completely misleading, and others only touch on the problems but offer no real solutions. Not the case with Why Can’t I Lose Weight.

I found this ebook to be filled with practical, medically-based answers to many of my questions about weight loss, plateaus, healthy fat loss, metabolism and that all important question of why the weight so often comes back no matter how “good” I am on my diet du jour.

Based on the long-term research and study from an impressive list of health and medical reference sources, Bushell writes about the changing theories of diet and exercise, addresses diet hype, fads, trends and introduces solid information based in biochemistry and documented scientific facts. Her goal is to start with facts and toss out misleading and misinterpreted data, along with outdated beliefs. In her book, she introduces her readers to current, relevant and proven facts about low calorie, low fat, low carb, and low glycemic diets. This book, written in an easy to read manner, helps clear the fog of myths and unsupported claims and shine a logical, detailed light on diet and healthy weight loss facts.

This straightforward and honest statement from her conclusion sums up the philosophy, tone and mission of her book: “Getting your body fit for weight loss is about making your body healthy in general, and that takes time and patience. Getting healthy is not about quick fixes, and nor is successful weight loss…. Making sure you lose the right kind of weight and in the right way is key to ensuring that when the weight comes off, it stays off.”

There are 15 chapters and three appendices that include topics and detailed “secrets” about:

  • Famine syndrome and the set point
  • The blood sugar/insulin connection
  • Metabolic rate
  • Stress
  • Food allergies/sensitivities
  • Candida/yeast overgrowth
  • Fluid retention
  • Malnutrition
  • Toxic overload
  • Genetic inheritance
  • Exercise
  • Hormonal imbalance
  • Prescription medicines
  • Compulsive eating and cravings
  • Diet “politics” and how overweight perceptions can cause overlooked medical issues
  • Thermogenic & fat burning supplements
  • A Personal Action Plan for Weight Loss Success

Author Jackie Bushell is dedicated to the message in her book. As she stated at the close, “So what I hope to have achieved with this book is to bring together all of the most important knowledge and new ideas related specifically to weight loss problems, screening out the many ideas that are unsupported by science.” Personally, I think she has accomplished this.

As I read her ebook, I was struck at the dedication and depth of research she put into the project. There is no doubt that she is very knowledgeable and passionate about this subject, and her list of resources backs up her work. Why Can’t I Lose Weight? contains a lot of common sense and medically supported nutritional information that is applicable to a great many frustrated dieters, just like myself. I experienced many “ah-ha!” moments while reading through the pages.

I recommend this book for anyone who has questions about healthy weight loss, curiosity about diet hype and trends, interest in nutritional weight loss, or anyone wanting to know the truth about the “low carb” diet phenomenon. But I especially recommend this book to anyone who suspects there could be an underlying health issue causing them to be resistant to weight loss. Why Can’t I Lose Weight? could answer many of your questions. It sure did for me.

Why Can’t I Lose Weight? is a downloadable PDF ebook, available at GoodDietGoodHealth.com.

If you always wanted to work in medicine but couldn’t stand dealing with the blood and guts or didn’t quite have the grades to get into medical school, there’s another way you can still have a career in the same field. Medical sales representatives from drug companies play prominent roles in the world of medicine. These are highly trained individuals who educate medical professionals such as physicians, nurses and pharmacists on the use of the drug products from the companies they represent.

If you spend time in hospitals and medical clinics, you will see well dressed individuals carrying brief cases filled with literature and drug samples. These are the medical sales representatives. They help keep medical professionals up to date since there are always changes occurring such as new drug treatments, new clinical studies and even new information on older or existing drugs. Medical professionals, especially doctors and pharmacists, must keep up to date on these changes in order to keep providing optimal care for patients.

Medical sales reps can have very lucrative careers as overall income levels can be in the six figure range for top professionals. This is proof that one doesn’t need medical school to earn top money. There are many other nice benefits including company car as well as a working environment with lots of freedom and independence. There are good opportunities for travel too since attending sales and medical meetings are all part of the job.

In addition to drug products, there are also medical sales representatives who deal with medical devices such as diagnostic tests and medical equipment. But the reps dealing with drug products are the biggest and most visible group among medical sales. Most large multinational drug companies will have medical sales forces worldwide.

Therefore, a career as a medical sales representative is a viable option to work in the field of medicine without having to wear a lab coat or have patients cough all over you.

If you are looking at California chiropractic schools because of your interest in learning the practical and philosophical attributes of chiropractics, you have come to the right place. This article will show you how to take the first step toward finding the chiropractic education that is just right for you.

Chiropractic is based on the philosophy that the body is able to achieve and maintain health through its natural restorative energies, as long as proper food, water, exercise, and rest are adequate. There are many chiropractic schools in California that provide training to promote natural, medication-free, and non-invasive approaches to physical health. The specialized care methods taught in all chiropractic schools should hold tightly to this philosophy, as well as teach supplemental spinal and joint adjustments, applications of therapeutic exercise, and counseling in nutrition - all of which aim at physical rejuvenation, strength, and health.

Before you choose a chiropractic school, you should know the specific approach that you want to take in getting your chiropractic degree. Chiropractic is a holistic medicine, so your interest in holistic health and healing should be foremost, and you should consider only those schools that espouse a strong philosophy of natural chiropractic methods. If necessary, you may wish to expand your search to other states. For example, you may wish to look at:

Chiropractic Schools in New York

Chiropractic Schools in South Carolina

Chiropractic Schools in Minnesota

Chiropractic Schools in Iowa

Chiropractic Schools in Missouri

Top chiropractic schools instruct in effective, safe, and cost-efficient chiropractics that reflect an evolving approach to holistic health and wellness of body and mind. Programs of study in all chiropractic schools follow defined routines as they teach methods of gaining patient information, learning to diagnose patient conditions, and learning how to provide care appropriate to each patient’s needs.

Students are taught how to determine the health needs of individual patients, while considering the entire patient and taking into account levels of stress a patient experiences, as well as the types of exercise and the quantity and quality of rest and nutrition a patient requires. Students will learn to make skeletal adjustments for correcting alignment and promoting overall patient health. Practical hands-on training in making adjustments may begin on the first day of chiropractic training, providing some early preparation for operating a chiropractic practice.

Intensive curriculums in Chiropractics will include the study of health sciences, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, neurology, psychology, X-ray, orthopedics, clinical skills. They should also offer chiropractic philosophy and business courses, which prepare graduates for operating chiropractic practices.

California chiropractic schools provide varying curriculums for earning certificates and Bachelor Science (BS), Master of Science (MS), and Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) Degrees. Students in can choose chiropractic medicine specializations in the areas of neurology, orthopedics, sports injuries, internal disorders, nutrition, or diagnostic imaging, among others.

Graduates can expect excellent opportunities in their chosen profession. While beginning salaries can be rather limited, experience will quickly increase incomes to over $70,000, depending on geographic location. Graduates who intend to enter into private practice should consider courses in business beyond what is provided in chiropractic schools, as failure of private chiropractic practices is often due to lack of preparation in this area.

How To Plan Home Theater Installation The Right Way

Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known in /wwwroot/gphone-android.com/wp-includes/class-snoopy.php on line 1142

Everything in life usually starts with a plan and home theater installation is no different. A poorly designed home theater area will not give you the hours of enjoyment you expect from it in fact, you’ll be more likely tearing your hair out and pulling it down and starting again!

Okay, that’s a little drastic but take it from me, a properly planned home theater room will give you years of trouble free entertainment and this article looks at some of the main things you should consider during the planning stage.

Planning The Home Theater Installation Stage

There are some things to consider before you go ahead and purchase your equipment. Have you planned where your home theater set up is going to be or exactly how you want everything laid out. Believe me, do this now and you won’t regret it. Here’s a few tips in the planning stage:

- Can you draw a map? You’ll need a rough draft of your home theater down on paper. Look at your room and picture in your mind where everything is going to sit.

- Your map should not just include the equipment placement but also doors and windows. Important to determine if their are going to be obstruction issues.

- Will you be putting in a projection unit? How much sunlight comes into the room? If it’s a lot then window coverings become an issue.

- How many power outlets do you have in the room?

- Is wiring going to be an issue? Give this serious thought. You want your wiring out of the way. It should be neatly planned to run along the wall boundaries and not across the room.

More Planning

A Home theater with all the “bells and whistles” is going to use up more power than your average room in the house. Will your power supply be able to handle the load? Ask a professional for advice but most homes will be able to handle the extra power. Power outlets…do you have enough? Again, very important to make sure you have more than you need. Believe me, you’ll need them at some stage.

Circuit boards and safety breakers are also necessary. Power boards with safety breakers in case of power surge and overload are desirable, particularly during thunderstorms.

Using A Professional Designer

You may very well be a movie nut or a sporting fan and love nothing better than to sit back in the comfort of your own home, watching it in your own special cinema style set up. However, you are not technically savvy. Not to worry. Home theater installation can be done by professionals. They’ll design the layout from equipment placement to acoustics and even suggest what equipment will suit your home theater. Remember, it’s going to stand the test of time so plan it properly.

Is your sofa looking worn and tired? Or maybe it just doesn’t fit in with your new color scheme? Is that garage sale chair you picked up for $15 just sitting there…unused, untouched, unloved? Perhaps you just don’t know where to begin.

As with any decorating project, you begin with a vision and a plan. You need a clear idea of how you want your furniture to look. Start by taking a good look at your furniture and your decor, and make some decisions. The answers to the following questions will help you choose well.

–Are you decorating or redecorating? Are you creating a whole new ambiance or just changing one or two pieces? Will you be integrating your reupholstery with a new or existing decor? Is the piece key to the scheme or does it take its cue from other elements in the room?

–What about style and ambiance? What style is the furniture you plan to redo? What kind and how much of a statement should your new cover make: Quiet? Tailored? Casual? Have you considered the trims as well as the fabric? Is the piece in everyday use, reserved for entertaining, or more decorative than functional?

–What shape is your furniture in? Does it simply need a new cover or will the reupholstery require structural repairs? This is an important question because substantial repairs make the job much more difficult and possibly more expensive.

–Is the furniture worth the investment in time and money? Reupholstery can be expensive and new upholstery won’t transform a piece of moderate quality into one of great value.

Choosing Fabric

Fabric allows you to introduce pattern, color, and texture to your decor. Pattern may relate to or establish a style. When you think of styles such as country, lodge, French or English, Victorian or another period, distinct images come to mind for each. Color establishes mood and can change your perception of space or proportion - and some palettes are associated with specific decorating styles. Texture contributes to the way fabric reflects or absorbs light, and therefore affects its color. Fabrics can be smooth, soft, crisp, or coarse textures - or a combination of these.

A wide selection of upholstery weight fabric is available today. Most upholstery fabrics are often blends of cotton and other fibers. The fabric you pick should have a tight weave and should feel stable, but not stiff, when you handle them. Also consider the piece of furniture and the amount of use it will get. Always consider the scale of the furniture when choosing a fabric. A pattern that isn’t in scale with the furniture may or may not be pleasing or look well in the overall decor.

Trim, welting, decorative cording, tassels, fringe, braid, gimp, or even decorative tacks - add polish and panache to upholstery. Trims should usually be in scale with and have the same visual weight as the upholstered piece; however, there are times when larger or heavier trims are very effective. Trims come in a myriad of colors. A trim that makes a subtle or strong contrast can be more interesting than one that blends into its background. You can use trim to add interest and accentuate the lines of your piece.

April is here and it is time to begin the annual process of spring-cleaning. It is the time of year when we open our windows to the warm fragrant breeze, point our tired faces towards the sun, and clean our homes. As I write this article, I faithfully remind myself of the need to pack away my winter clothes and move my summer clothes to the front of my closet. I approach this task with about as much enthusiasm as filing my taxes. However once the job is complete, I feel somehow lighter, liberated, and more energized.

Spring represents the beginning of a new year. As I write this on my back porch, I am looking out over the marsh. The egrets have returned from their winter hiatus, the trees are green and lush, and the flowers are blooming. I do love this time of the year.

As we begin to open our windows and clean house, it is also an opportune time to begin some personal housekeeping. Many people find themselves feeling lethargic during the winter months and leaning towards procrastination. For me, this is evident by the winter weight I put on every year. Also, during those cold and gray months, we often put our personal growth on hold. Every year at about this time, I find myself gearing up to shed the winter weight and resume my exercise routine with reckless abandon. The first few days are always tough, but as the momentum builds and the extra pounds begin to melt away, my energy level increases and I feel much better physically and spiritually.

Today is the first day of April and I find myself contemplating the following questions:
–What can I do or stop doing that could improve my relationship?
–What can I do to refresh my mind so I think in a more positive perspective?
–Are there any fears I have that are blocking me and/or my relationship?

The first question resonates most powerfully with me. Although I listen very intently to my clients, in my own personal relationship, I believe I can do a much better job of being less reactive and listening to my partner at a deeper level. This means allowing her the time, space, and respect, to deliver her message in the manner she needs to deliver it even if it is not the best way for me. I know this is true because she told me so earlier this morning.

The best barometer through which to measure our relationship housekeeping needs is by listening to what our partner says. They are the holder of our mirror because they relate to us on a more intimate level than anyone else, and we must respect them for the very difficult job they have. Try not to perceive your partner’s thoughts and feelings from a negative perspective. Rather, try to listen more deeply, and hear your partner’s message as an invitation to look inside yourself and begin to own your own process of growth and change. The best indicator of the areas where you need to grow is your level of defensiveness and reactivity. The stronger the negative reaction, the greater the need is for change.

Consider which of the above questions resonate most powerfully with you. Has your partner recently sent a message or made a request that you failed to hear, honor, and fulfill, due to your own defensiveness and reactivity? What can you do to help yourself and your relationship? What fears, issues, thoughts, and behaviors can you identify as areas for personal growth and change, in order to be the best partner you can possibly be? .

Spring is in the air. Spring is about change and change is about growth. I challenge you to begin your own spring-cleaning. Now is the perfect time of year to be honest and open with yourself, and inject some fresh, positive energy into your relationships. I am fully committed to following through. Are you?

Dry eye syndrome seems to be self explanatory. It means that your eye does not have enough moisture in it to lubricate it. There are many factors in the world that contribute and bring on this syndrome. There are also many reliable ways to cure this syndrome before it becomes too serious.
The environment is more than likely the biggest contributor to this eye condition. If you already have a dry eye condition you will notice that the environment can make this increasingly worse. Factors of the environment such as:

- Smoke

- Wind

- Dry Air

- Air Conditioning

- Sunlight

When your eyes are exposed to a large amount of any of these factors you will notice an increased pain or irritation, if this is the case you should visit your eye doctor immediately to avoid this condition getting any worse. Your eyes are a very sensitive part of your body; take care of them in the proper way.

If you wear contact lenses you are also at risk of encountering this condition. Everything depends on the contact lens products that you use, the frequency that you use them as well as how well you take care of your contacts. The contacts that you wear make your eyes more sensitive to the world and the products that you use could dry out your eyes if you do not use them correctly. With these two combined contact wearers are at a high risk of this dry eyed condition.

Dry eye conditions become that much more common when you are of an older age. It has been found that almost 75% of seniors have some form of dry eye conditions. Women are also more prone to dry eye conditions as well. There are many physical traits that contribute to these dry eye conditions as well.

If you discover that you are prone to these dry eye conditions please visit your doctor as soon as possible to avoid any complications.
