An auto responder course of emails is a recognized way to build a list of subscribers interested in your niche. You drive targeted traffic to your squeeze page and then offer a free e-course in exchange for your visitors name and email address.

You can then recommend products and services in your email course and generate sales for your own products or as an affiliate. The major benefit in marketing this way is that you can market to your list more than once, having built up your trust and credibility.

The more people that read and like your e-course and recommended products the more sales you will make and this translates to more money for you. There are two ways to get more people reading your e-course. Either get more traffic or increase the percentages of people who open and act upon your course once they have subscribed.

There are a number of things that you can do to increase your percentages:

- It sounds obvious but the theme and content of your course should obviously be what you originally promised.

- You shouldn’t skimp on your content. Write informative and useful content that your readers will be interested in. This is what will build your trust and credibility.

- Use your readers name in the subject line and write it in lowercase. This has been shown to increase email open rates.

- Use the words ‘you’, ‘your’ and ‘you’ll’ in your emails, especially at the beginning of paragraphs.

- Only recommend products and services that you have used and would recommend to friend. Nothing will destroy the trust and credibility you build quicker than a rubbish product.

- Format your emails into easily digestible chunks.

- Use a quality automatic responder service that will get your email course delivered in the first place.

Inspecting your home’s insulation is one of the quickest and most cost-effective methods you can undertake to reduce your spend on energy.

With a correct mixture of products and construction procedures your home can be protected against air leaks and moisture as well as reducing the impact of the temperature outside. In fact, studies have shown that proper insulation can improve your home’s temperature comfort by up to 10%.

If your house is built before 1980; if you find it overly cold in the winter or hot in the summer; if your energy bills are extreme; if you find noise from outside disturbs you; if you are extending or building; then you need to examine your insulation.

The first place to start checking is in your attic, ceiling, exterior and cellar walls, floors and crawl areas to determine what insulation you have and if it comes up to the recommended levels for your area.

Insulation material is measured in R-values. The higher the R-value the product carries, the better the level of protection against heat transfer.

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has published a recommended range of R-values for all areas across the country determined by local climatic conditions and cost of energy.

Although insulation is available in a wide variety of materials, it typically comes in four types; each with it’s own characteristics.

1) Rolls and batts (or blankets)
These are flexible and made from fibers, like fiberglass, rock wool, plastic or natural fibers. They are fitted between studs, joists, and beams and suitable for using in unfinished walls, floors and ceilings.

2) Loose-fill
This is generally made of fiberglass, rock wool, or cellulose and comes in small particles. It is installed by being blown into the space using a special pneumatic blower. It is great for adding insulation to existing areas, oddly shaped areas and around obstacles.

3) Rigid foam
Whilst generally more expensive than fiber products, it is very effective in buildings with space limitations and where higher R-values are needed. It is often used in unfinished walls; ceilings and floors; and un-vented low-slope roofs.

4) Foam-in-place
Is blown into walls and reduces air leakage. Good for adding insulation to existing completed spaces, irregularly shaped spots, and around obstructions.

There are many different variations of the four types listed above and literally hundreds of different products to choose form. Many homeowners are opting for a more ‘green’ approach and opting for natural products like wool. And many are even building homes using old techniques such as straw bale construction.

What ever the insulation option you choose, you will be impressed with the better temperature control and hopefully will be even more impressed with a reduction in your energy bills.

Due to this reason, bad credit unsecured personal loans are provided by majority of lenders in the financial market. In addition to the lenders in the physical market, there are many online lenders that provide bad credit unsecured personal loans at better and low rates.

Interest rate is one of the crucial elements of any loan deal, which is considered by the borrower while procuring funds from the financial market. It has been founded that borrower thinks that bad credit unsecured personal loans carry high interest rate as it involves no collateral. However, it must be noted that they are high only when it is compared to other secured loans; otherwise they are also competitive in the financial market.

The lender usually offers two type of interest rate that is fixed rate of interest and flexible rate of interest. Fixed rate of interest doesn’t get affected with the change in market condition and other factors. On the other hand, flexible rate of interest changes with the fluctuation in the market forces. It is quite possible that flexible rate of interest is lower in the beginning but after that it totally depends upon the fluctuations in the market condition. And, the borrower can choose either of the type of interest rate as per his convenience and financial position.

The upcoming New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) is always known for attracting a huge number of attendees and exhibitors. Recently, Japanese car manufacturer Nissan announced that they will be showcasing their vehicles at the event. These vehicles will showcase the capabilities of Nissan in producing cars in response to the demand of their growing buyer base.

The third biggest Japanese car manufacturer recently announced that among their exhibit at the country’s largest motor show will be the Altima, the Armada, and the Maxima. These three are among the lineup of Nissan which the company hopes will help them continue to increase their popularity among American car buyers.

The Nissan Altima, slotted between the Sentra and the Maxima in price range, is a direct descendant of the Nissan Bluebird which was famous during the 1950’s. This year’s Altima though is far more advanced than its predecessors. Its exterior styling gives it a muscular look. The car looks larger than it actually is thanks to the design concepts used by Nissan in the design of the vehicle. The muscular appeal of the Altima though is not limited to its exterior design.

With an option of either a four-cylinder or a V6 engine, consumers will surely experience the power of the Nissan Altima. Its interior is designed for functionality and gives adequate space for occupants. As far as ride comfort is concerned, its suspension is sport-oriented giving the vehicle good ride comfort and handling. The2.5-liter four-cylinder engine of the Altima can produce as much as 175 horsepower while the 3.5-liter V6 engine can produce as much as 250 horsepower.

Another Nissan model which will be showcased at the motor show is the Armada. Just like the Altima, the Armada packs a lot of power and just by looking at it; one can already see that the full-size sport utility vehicle is muscular. The newest version of the Armada, formerly known as the Pathfinder Armada, is equipped with a new massive engine. Its powerplant, a 5.6-liter double overhead cam, 32-valve V8 engine can provide the Armada with 305 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque. The amount of horsepower and torque of the Nissan Armada’s engine is one of the highest in its class.

The SUV is also a workhorse with a towing capacity of 9,100 pounds. That towing capacity makes gives the Armada the bragging right to having the highest towing capacity in its class.

The Nissan Maxima will also be showcased at the upcoming motor show. The upscale mid-size sedan will be attracting luxury car buyers. True to Nissan’s tradition of manufacturing high quality vehicles, the Maxima combine a good dose of sport car performance and luxurious features. Its interior is characterized by plush and comfortable seats that will come in play especially on extended roar trips. The lush interior complements the performance of the Maxima’s engine.

The luxury sedan is powered by a 3.5-liter double overhead cam 24-valve V6 engine supported by a wide array of high performance Nissan Maxima parts produces as much as 265 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque. The engine and the interior features of the Maxima is protected by advanced safety features like the Traction Control System and the Vehicle Dynamic Control technology.

All of these cars will be showcased at the New York International Auto Show which will be held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The Importance Of A Brand

What do you think of when I say Coca-Cola, Microsoft, IBM, GE, Intel and Nokia? Well, if you said they are all big companies, you’d be right. But they are also the six top rated global brands as judged in a survey conducted by Business Week earlier this year (2006).

Why is a brand important? Obviously, a brand provides recognition. A brand sends a message to the market. The “brand” clearly identifies what can be expected from the company. Wikipedia defines “brand” as “a collection of images and ideas representing an economic producer,” or ” a symbolic embodiment of all the information connected to a company, product or service. A brand serves to create associations and expectations.”

What’s In A Name?

How can a company name such as IBM or GE achieve all this? Obviously a set of letters such as these, on their own, are meaningless. It is the cumulative history and sum of the relationships the company has developed over the years that gives the brand any meaning. A brand creates associations and expectations, not because it is a brand, but because the brand encapsulates the expectations which the company has built in the past and which can reasonably be expected to be continued into the future.

There is a lot of confusion when it comes to marketing, advertising and branding for small and medium size businesses. Many businesses approach marketing and advertising with the intention of developing their brand. They expect to use advertising to brand their business. Some talk about this approach as “getting their name out there.” Many small and medium size businesses spend their entire marketing budget on this type of branding, or image building.

Branding is Not Advertising

Let me say this right now. If this is how you approach marketing, you may as well take the money you are spending doing this and burn it. You will make more of an impact if you do this in public. If you run a small or medium size business, using advertising to develop your brand is a total waste of money. This statement may seem totally opposite to what you believe and to what you have been told by advisors in the past, and may be hard to accept, but I know it is correct and deep down, you probably do to. Haven’t you had suspicions about the value of your advertising?

There are many people who want to sell you image type advertising. That is what the big advertising companies do. However, while their advertising may sometimes win awards, what you really want it to do is win you sales. How effective can you honestly say that your image building advertising has been in doing that?

Now I’m not saying image building advertising does not work. After all, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, IBM, GE, etc. spend millions of dollars doing this. However, that is what it takes to make it work - millions. If you have that sort of money to throw around on an unknown quantity such as image advertising go right ahead. But if you don’t have that much to spend on building your brand, your advertising expenditure will only be like a drop in the ocean in terms of the effect that it has on your brand recognition.

So what if people see your business name “out there?” What does it communicate to the market? So much advertising is just one meaningless name after another. Compared to the likes of Coca-Cola it comes across like the weak kid in the sports selection line up jumping up and down saying, “Pick me, pick me!” There is no way, unless you have millions, to effectively communicate what you and your business have to offer, if you advertise in this way. Coca-Cola and the like can only get away with it because they have already established a brand image and their advertising is so frequent that they can perpetuate that name recognition. However, if the company fails to deliver on the promise that has been established in the past, no amount of advertising can overcome the backlash of the consumers’ voice. Remember “New Coke?”

Let’s make this clearer. Do you recognise these names: Starbucks and The Body Shop? These are two quite well known companies. Although not quite in the same league as Coca-Cola and Microsoft, their brands are acknowledged world-wide nonetheless. How much do you think they would attribute the impact of their image building advertising towards building their brand.

If you guessed “nothing,” congratulations. These two companies spend virtually nothing on branding type advertising. However, the strength of their brand cannot be disputed. How can this be? The answer is that their relationships with customers and the market in general has been built over the years by the consistency of their quality and message achieved by the way they operate in their stores and interact with the world, without the need to spend money on advertising. The customers have delivered the brand message.

This is the answer to the questions raised above. The brands of Coca-Cola, Microsoft, etc have not been build by advertising. The brand is based on relationships and consistency of quality and message to the market. These companies’ successes have led to massive growth which has enabled them to have the financial resources to use to increase advertising to reinforce the existing brand.

Some companies try to use advertising to change the market perception and create a new brand. But this approach is flawed. Advertising can only reinforce that which already exists. If the advertising contradicts the actions and public perception of a company, only the very gullible will believe it. Actions always speak louder than words.

Branding is About Quality and Consistency
What then, does this mean for the small and medium size business? Is branding not important? On the contrary. Building a strong brand is one of the most important and beneficial tasks any business should have as an objective. The problem is the way most businesses go about it. The brand has to be built first, before you spend money to promote it. A good brand is built over time by the quality of the products or service your business offers and by the quality of the experience you consistently provide to your customers. An inconsistent experience delivers a message of inconsistency, which will communicate an inconsistent brand which will erode quickly. No amount of advertising will help. It will only get the word out faster that your products and service are poor.

To build a strong brand, you and your team need to exemplify the brand message in all of your work and especially in your interactions with customers. To do that, you obviously need to know what you stand for and what you want your customers to be able to expect from you and your products. This is much more onerous than simply spending money on one vehicle or another to “get your name out there.” To achieve consistency, you need to have defined your mission and business objectives. You need to understand how your people’s need to relate to your customers to achieve that mission and ensure they deliver the consistent quality your customers will come to expect.

You also need to understand the importance of marketing and advertising your business in effective ways to make sales and build the brand, rather than wastefully spending money to try to build your image. Far too many business owners waste money on advertising because they have been led to believe that “getting your name out there” is an acceptable strategy. However, there is only one acceptable strategy when it comes to marketing and advertising and that is to promote your business in the way that achieves the lowest cost of acquisition per customer and the highest average customer lifetime value. These are two measures you should be intimately acquainted with in your business and should be the basis for every marketing decision you make.

Conslusion
Thoughts about branding should be related to operational performance and customer relationships, not advertising, until you can afford to spend millions like the best known brands can. In a small or medium size business, you should not consider using advertising to build your brand. You should advertise in ways that directly increase customer interactions and sales and use those customer interactions to help build your brand. You should not consider using advertising to build your brand until you have so much cash you can afford to throw it all away. Even then, you should think hard about whether spending money on image advertising is the best use of your cash. There are many better ways to do it.

Converting your visitors into your customers is hard. Website conversion strategies can be hard to implement. I know of people who ask me,

“Is there something wrong with the sales letter or advertisement?”

“Is the design of the website affecting my sales?”

However, from what i have learnt from certain Marketing Sherpa case studies, it is just the little additions and tweaking here and there into your website that can actually increase website conversions as much as 30%.

Some of the tactics that websites use to increase their website conversion rate are:

1.Product Image

It has been proven that images play a part in making the customer judge if the product is in good condition or not. The larger the image, the better. Provide a thumbnail of our product next to your product description or advertisement. What you can do is to make sure that when your customers click on your thumbnail, they will have access to look at a larger image of the product.

If your product is a digital product, like a e-book, you can create visual graphics or an e-cover for it. Such a website to get e-covers from would be www.xwebgraphics.com. A visual graphic for an e-book or any other digital product for that matter has been known to increase website conversion rates as much as 300%!

2.Bestseller Lists

Bestsellers were known to get a lot of clicks, buy-ins and website conversion from customers. What you can do in your website is to create a column, especially on the right-hand side of the website to show customers the product or products that are selling like hotcakes.

Customers are reassured when bestsellers are shown because it tells them that a lot of people have bought the product and it gives them the impression that the product is good and value for money.

3.A-Z Listing

When you give a category of products listed under alphabetical order, they can find the product that they are looking for much more easily. Also it gives customers more variety to choose from. Let’s say there are ten products listed under the letter ‘L’. By clicking on the letter ‘L’, they can see a variety of other products besides the ones they are looking for.

4.Product Reviews And Testimonials

For each product, you can have a list of product reviews and testimonials from other consumers who have bought the product so that your customer can decide on their purchase decision better. Have both positive and negative reviews of the product to have that feeling of practicality in your site.

People normally think too much about how to increase their website conversion rates. But judging from these four simple tactics, it is really not that hard to implement them and see your website accumulate more sales.

Corporate Mission Statements

Mission statements have become a very common business tool with more than 50% of the companies in USA and UK having some form of mission statement. It has been realised that there is a need to clarify to the employees the purpose and philosophy of the company. The recognition of the importance of organisation culture has created the interest in the purpose of setting up a kind of a message, highlighting the company purpose and management philosophy. It has been realised, that the middle management is always becoming more and more demanding of their organisation, and constantly asking for clarifications of direction of purpose and values, and the “inner identity” of the corporate.

As a result, the corporate, in searching for the right tool to help them manage, has come with mission statements, where it has tried to put forth the company’s identity, its purpose, and a philosophy, for a better management of the organisation. But, regardless of the attention being given to mission statements, there is little understanding as to what such a statement should include, and what role does it have to play in the management of the company’s identity or culture. These facts have been gathered after extensive research, involving interviews with managers, and studying in-numerable mission statements from all over the world.

There is a need to understand how an organisation can enthuse commitment amongst its managers and employees, and what should a mission statement play in this process. The word ‘Mission’ of a corporate would generally mean the identification of the organisation’s character, and the reason for its very existence. A mission statement should be characterised by projecting four parts of an organisation: purpose, strategy, values, and behaviour standards. The “Strategy” would address the nature of business, meaning, the organisation’s positioning vis-à-vis their competitors. It includes the source of the organisation’s competitive edge. The “Behaviour Standards” would define the norms and rules that the organisation follows, “Values” would be the principles of the moral value that forms the base of the behaviour standards, and “Beliefs” would be the very faith on which the organisation has been built upon, a faith which has been drilled into the organisation by its founding dynasty.

There are frustrations in business processes. These frustrations evolve with the business having no definite purpose or direction. It has become so necessary for organisations to put forth a mission, which provides a clear business conception, its purpose, and its mission.

“A strong sense of corporate identity is as important as slavish adherence to business unit financial results”. Michael Porter1.

The question comes up, how to practice what is written in a mission statement, such as the one which says, ‘to reach beyond minimal’. Beliefs are said to be the signposts, guides, and goals of the organisation, which are open to discussions. It becomes a document forming base on which the company exists.

“Beliefs are another professional tool of management to be utilised to reach our common goals”. James Bere2.

“I recently visited the local office of a company that for many years has prided itself on its elegantly worded mission statement. Indeed. A framed copy of the document was permanently displayed on the lobby wall. When I had finished my business, a company veteran asked me if there was anything else I wanted. So I asked for a copy of the statement. ‘The what?’ he asked. ‘You know.’ I told him ‘that document on the wall as you walk in.’ He was completely mystified. Finally I took him over to the door and showed him what I was talking about. I left him staring at the mission statement, open mouthed and reading it, no doubt, for the first time”. Laura Nash3

In preparing a mission statement, the suggestion for the need of one may come from an external consultant. This, he may suggest, as a requirement to help and unite the company. In writing such a statement, the questions that are asked, in an attempt to write a mission statement, often brings out the gaps that the senior management has in its thinking process. The pressure in describing an organisations strategy, and management approach, also comes from the financial institutions or communities. This acts as external stimuli in forming a document, comprising that of a mission statement. The present need for a mission statement is also felt, when analysts and financial commentators become critical about the function of the managers, who lack strong commitment for the company’s vision, activities, and management style.

The requirement for a mission statement also comes from within the company, becoming internal stimuli. There are three sources for such stimuli. The first one develops from the internal audience, such as, the section of middle management, wanting clarifications on where the company is heading to, and what the company stands for. The second source may come from the company executives themselves, having deep differences in opinion immerging out of discussions relating to the future of the company, and in the matter of company governance. The Chief Executive himself could be the third source, who may find that there is a need for a change in strategy and culture, and may re-write the mission of the organisation, and communicate the change down the line. This change could be on the basis of a new regime.

Millions of website owners select low cost or free hosting options that may not be appropriate for commercial or small business websites. Based on one recent experience with a custom website client, I feel site owners need to understand that free ad supported website hosting is not for everyone.

The ads exchanged for free hosting offered from one major hosting company are described as done by inserting “advertising on a small portion of the site”. In fact this “small ad” is a top banner that covers the width of the screen with a height of 1.2 inches (30.4mm), and displays 3 separate ads. The choice of ads placed in the banner advertising is fed based on page content, so your site might feature an advertisement from your competition. This is fine for non-commercial personal sites, or a website monetized for advertising revenue only. It is senseless to advertise for your competition.

Website hosting is inexpensive. The decision to use free ad supported hosting should be considered carefully.

The cost for paid hosting ranges from modest to outrageous, so many business owners fall victim to overpriced hosting services because of inexperience. Some pay $1000’s USD per year for their domain, hosting, and maintenance when in fact their site is static and nothing is ever added. A monthly fee based on the contingency that something might need to be changed in the future is a waste of money if your website is launched and just gathers dust. If it is dynamic adding content frequently and you receive value for money, monthly fees are practical.

Tip: You do NOT have to include the copyright date on your web pages. Using the copyright symbol and the year means you have an obsolete website a year later. The cost to change the date each January hardly justifies paying thousands annually in monthly fees. Published material is covered locally and internationally by copyright law without specifying the year or including a copyright statement. The fact that content is published on your website means you own it. My advice is avoiding dated material and simply state “Copyright Material - All Rights Reserved”.

Another client told of a service where they paid $179 a month for a similar package which included a logo design and website graphics. Although their agreement also included high quality artwork of their logo for printed marketing materials, the service provider refused to make it available when requested. The website version was 3-color low resolution and looked fine online. Creating a 4-color CMYK high resolution version appropriate for professional printing should have been easy. Instead, the website owner was compelled to shop around and pay extra to have printed marketing materials designed.

When you remove “maintenance” as a service in the example above, your small business website can be online for less than $150 USD annual cost instead of $2148.00. The amount this customer saved was enough to pay for a custom site design, and then future savings of $2000 a year after the first year. You need a www domain and hosting, plus a site design. Dependable service companies are out there at less than $10 a year for your domain, and less than $5 a month for hosting. Why pay more? Choose carefully when you select someone to design your small business website, and their advice may save you more than the design.

Next, the technical implications of free ad supported website hosting may escape the notice of most site owners. In the recent incident, the XHTML code to create this site was deprecated by the free service when they automatically inserted code to generate the advertising banner. Instead of a website with zero code errors, 10 XHTML errors were added to each page because of the extra inserted code. Currently proper HTML or XHTML code is not mandatory for favorable search engine ranking, yet if you have a perfect design, there is the risk that deprecated code could affect ranking in the future if search algorithms change.

Small business owners are usually too busy running their day to day operations to learn about the best options for getting and keeping a website online. Free ad supported website hosting is available, but the downside needs to be understood before you opt for free hosting. If you select a web developer to design your website and they do not offer monthly fee based services, they will most likely offer advice for your best hosting options.

In conclusion, designers who offer value added services are viable choices for small business owners who choose to have fresh content added to their site frequently. Just make sure to communicate your needs for online and in print to maximize your results and avoid disappointment. I am opposed to free ad supported website hosting for small business websites because anything displayed on your site needs to promote your product or service. Advertising, especially competitive ads, detract from the positive first impression that is critical for the success of your small business website.

Economy

Australia has a strong and innovative economy bolstered by solid productivity, low inflation and low interest rates. Australia has a deregulated economy which is affected somewhat by fluctuations in the US economy, but has its own resilience. With low barriers to trade and investment, there are many opportunities to invest in Australia as a private business or property investor.

Our Free Trade Agreement with the US, means that it is easier for professional Australian citizens to work in the US than ever before.

Exports are a mix of traditional commodities, services and advanced manufacturing. Some of the major exports include gold, meat & livestock, agricultural product, cars, machinery and minerals.

Transport

Australia is a relatively easy country to get around in and the closer to the city and surrounding suburbs you get, the easier it becomes.

Due to its large size, the need for sufficient and reliable transport is essential and all of the cities and most of the rural towns have an extensive and relatively cheap public transport system. The three main means of transport in Australia are:

By Car: privately owned car or by taxi (there are many extensive taxi services in place all around the country).

By Public transport: Rail, train, bus (and tram in some states).

By Air: There are a variety of Australian and International airlines around the country that operate flights between major cities (and regional or remote areas).

Public transport is becoming more popular again, as significant improvements in services over the last decade, and the high cost of fuel, has made trains (as well as trams in Melbourne) a popular alternative.

What’s New For 2006 Tax Deductions?

Every year, the IRS changes some of the specifics for tax deduction and they usually don’t inform the national public about the detailed changes so people are usually left to just buy new software like Tax Cut or Turbo Tax. There are many changes like adjustments for inflation that increase the standard deduction and widen the tax brackets that are easy to spot, but there are other subtle changes that are less obvious. It might make you angry to find out that some of the changes aren’t even on the 2006 tax forms because they were made so late.

In order to insure that you get the maximum deduction that you deserve, you need to follow some specific tax filing procedures to obtain them. For state sales tax, college tuition and educators’ expenses, Congress changed the deductions for these specific issues last December, but they aren’t on the forms. You are now able to get deductions on these expenses based on the new changes. Also, if you are the kind of person that likes to get their taxes done early, you will have to wait until after February 3rd because the IRS will not be able to process returns until after this date. Electronic submissions of returns will be disregarded by the IRS and paper returns will be set aside until the 3rd. You will want to save your free efile until after that date.

Other changes that might save you money include phone tax refunds, hybrid car tax credits, residential energy credits, bigger adoption credits, and a few other things that are geared more towards companies and upper class income earners. The government has stopped collecting the excise tax on long distance phone calls because phone plans do not charge their plans based on distance. Also, if you buy a hybrid car during 2006, the government will give you a 3,400 dollar tax credit for your contribution to society. If you decided to use alternative fuels like solar energy to heat your home, you can deduct 30% of that along with 10% for the cost of skylights, outside doors, and windows. If you decide to adopt a child this year, you and your family can deduct up to 10,960 dollars.

Make sure to catch these new changes on your tax returns because these are not small deductions that don’t matter much. When you are working on your tax preparation this year, don’t forget to research how to get back as much as possible on your tax returns.
