A Fun Gadget For Kids - The Backyard Safari Bug Vacuum

As a father of two young youths, we are always seeking fun gadgets to play with. Our most favorite fun gadget ever is the Backyard Safari Bug Vacuum. This toy captures bugs through the use of a battery operated gun-style vacuum. The insects are sucked into a clear plastic capsule that is complete with a magnifying glass for viewing.

The Summer Of The Insect Adventure

In total honesty, we played with this fun gadget the entire summer. We caught every tiny insect that we could capture. The vacuum is powerful enough to suck most insects directly into the attached holding capsule, yet it isn’t strong enough to injure the insects. The holding capsule is complete with a magnifying glass and a flip bottom so that the insects can be easily viewed and released once the observation is complete.

A Complete World Of Fun Gadgets For Insect Observations

Backyard Safari has created supplemental fun gadget that work with the bug vacuum. The bug habitat is large enough to accommodate a number of insects. However you want to insure that you do not combine insects that consume one another or you will have an entirely different observation within moments.

If your child enjoys long walks while bug collecting, there are pocket size bug habitats that your child can attach to a backpack or belt loop. These tiny pocket watch shaped habitats provide the perfect environment for a short-term guest. There are two different designs, one design is intended for any type of bug and the other is designed specifically as an ant habitat.

The Backyard Safari Bug Vacuum is a fun gadget for any boy or girl. I must admit, as fun gadgets go, this also makes a great spider catcher inside the house as well and would be a hit with many moms.

Car Hire Murcia

When visiting the Mediterranean bathed region of Murcia, look forward to something more than breathtaking beautiful beaches, such as some natural beauties still to be discovered. It is the intriguing blend of natural charms and modernism which differentiate Murcia from the other regions of Costa Blanca. From the most desolated open natural spaces to modern residential neighborhoods to quaint little medieval towns. Nestled amidst the mountains of the Sierra de Orihuela and the Cresta de Gallo, Murcia boasts of the most sophisticated watering system in the region and is very famous for vegetables and thus happens to be the capital of the province.

Tips for your Murcia trip:

If Murcia happens to be the next pit stop in your holiday itinerary, make sure you rent a car. Local transport by bus or train is available, but if you want to witness something more than the beautiful beaches around the Costa Blanca and Spain, car hire in this region is a must. The city of Murcia can be reached via the national road E15 from Alicante or using the C415 from the Madrid direction. With Murcia being about 45 km away from the Airport car hire is a good option.Visiting Murcia during the summer period, without a car reservation in hand is not a very advisable thing to do! Also make sure to book your car before arrival at the Airport especially during summer months. Use your travel agency to get the best deal on Murcia car hire. But don’t forget to compare pricing and availability over the internet. The Murcia airport lies 45 km outside of Murcia along the Mar Menor and is used by some English and German airlines offering cheap flights to Murcia.

What you need to remember while hiring a car at Murcia:

Car Prices: The rates for the same car vary a great deal from company to company. Compare basic rates and the extras. While some companies offer all inclusive rental packages, some charge for extras like insurance, mileage, the cost of additional drivers, airport taxes and other such fees. Many domestic and international car hire companies offer Murcia car hire at the airport. Check them out well in advance; so that once you are out of the Arrival terminal you have your car waiting for you.It is very important that you know what is included in the price you are quoted. If the company charges a basic rental rate with add on fees for extras, compare it with the all inclusive price of the other company. This will give you a more reliable comparison as you don’t want to take the pains of comparing prices only to end up paying a higher price later.Compare daily and weekly rates of each company. The weekly rates are often cheaper i.e. if you need the car for four days, it may still be less expensive to reserve the car at the weekly rate.

Booking reference number: Get your car hire agreement in writing and be sure to get a confirmation/reference number. This number will help you avoid headaches later.

Car Type: Hire a car considering the number of people traveling and their age group. A standard family car seats 4 people comfortably where as minibuses, MPV’s are ideal for those traveling in large groups. An economy car is anytime cheaper w.r.t rental prices as well as fuel costs.

Insurance: Taking insurance with a car hire is a very advisable thing to do. But before you do so, find out with your car insurance or Credit Card Company, if you are covered.

Advance Booking: Booking in advance with any car hire company is the best way to kick start your holiday planning because if you don’t you will end up paying more than you thought. Also hiring a car after reaching Murcia will leave you with limited choices during the peak season. So why take a risk.

Documents: While hiring a car, you will need to provide car Hire Company with all the important documents like driver’s license, proof of age, a credit card and insurance.

Car Condition: Inspect the car before you take possession of it. Make sure to check all damage is noted on the rental agreement. The aim is not to take responsibility for damage that was already there when you picked up the car.

Car Pick up and Drop Point: Another important comparison that you need to make is the cost of picking up your car from the airport or renting in the city. The difference could be from nothing to some considerable amount of money depending on the car rental company you choose. Commonly, it is cheaper to pick up and drop off the car in the same location.

Discounts: Look for discounts for your car hire. If you book with travel agent, you may get a discount on a car hire plus accommodation. Make use of any discount you can to save money.

The hot weather conditions; a limited (only 3 times a day) direct bus connection to Murcia City; and a train station 10 km away, most tourists opt for Murcia airport car hire with next most feasible option being a taxi hire from the airport.

Providing simple traveling solutions to the travelers of Spain since 1979.

What Causes Upper Back Pain?

Upper back pain is something a number of people around the world suffer from. Almost every one of us is susceptible to it. It is, therefore, important for all of us to know what causes it.

Besides accidental injury, a displacement of upper disc has been found to be among the leading causes of upper back pain. The parts of the body that are more frequently in motion are more susceptible to injuries, and since the upper back is quite stable in this regard, so the upper back is not easily hurt during lifting heavy objects. However, such condition as spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease and herniated disc can indeed cause upper back pain. But it is not very common.

What has emerged as one of the most common causes is rather simple- wrong posture. That may sound quite an unlikely cause at first, but sitting for long hours in wrong posture can have disastrous affect on your back. And upper back is what a poor posture affects the worst.

Another cause can be a lack of strength in the upper back region. If the muscles of one’s upper back are not strong enough the chances of injury increases. Simple everyday tasks might injure one’s back, without one even coming to know of it. So, if you think you have a weak upper back, start strength building exercises for upper back.

Repetitive motion has also been found to be injurious for the upper back. For instance, if you work on a particular machine in a particular posture and the repetitive movements on the machine involve your upper back, the chances of your suffering from upper back pain are heightened.

The best cure for upper back pain in such situations is building the strength of your upper back. Weight training exercises, coupled with stretching exercises and yoga are found to be very effective in this regard.

Go about exercising systematically and under informed guidance so that you do not injure yourself in an attempt to make yourself stronger. It is important for you to understand that painkillers are not the way to go. You need to remove the very roots of your back pain. Medication, therefore, should be your last option and not the first one. Correct posture and regular physical exercise is the most effective answer to upper back pain.

Turn Sibling Rivalry Into Healthy Competition

Do your kids remind you of Bart and Lisa Simpson for all the wrong reasons? Do you have your very own Venus and Serena competing for every last cookie, word of praise and to be first in the bathroom?

Sibling rivalry is your children’s way of asserting their position in the family and it also helps them to develop life skills such as survival, competition, striving for success and dealing with other people. Unfortunately for hapless parents, it can be a frustrating family issue fraught with varying degrees of severity.

There’s really nothing wrong with sibling rivalry, as long as it isn’t allowed to escalate into all-out war in the home. A bit of opposition between brothers and sisters can be healthy but as their parents, and indeed the governing party of the home, it’s your job to keep it under control. You need to see your family much like a country.
There needs to be a leader - or a coalition - and there are loyal subjects who have to observe and follow the rules.

Letting your kids ‘battle it out’ seems like a good idea sometimes but children need to be shown how to negotiate in order to achieve what they want. Without these skills, they may resort to underhanded tactics.

Help your children to understand that they are all individuals but they are also a part of the one family. Each has his or her own personality, likes, dislikes, needs and wants and to a great extent, these have to be accommodated by every other member of the family.

Tolerance and understanding should be displayed by everyone to everyone and it’s only when each and every person in the household does so, that harmony will reign.
Sibling rivalry, if not encouraged in its positive light, can fester into adulthood where brothers and sisters will have no guidance from their wiser, worldlier parents. Why do you think so much literature and so many movies have used it as compelling material? Think “The Godfather”, “In Her Shoes”, and even Shakespeare’s “King Lear”. Think of Cain and Abel and God’s favoring of Abel, resulting in his murder at the hands of his brother.

As experienced adults who are able to see the world with more mature eyes, help your children to embrace their siblings and gain from them instead of constantly battling with them and ultimately, getting nowhere in particular.

What is SEO?

Many people ask me, what exactly is SEO? SEO is the abbreviation for search engine optimization. SEO consists of many techniques, that you apply to your website to help influence the search engines to not only rank your site with a higher ranking, but more importantly to rank the keywords you have carefully chosen that are relevant to your site, to list higher in the search engine listings. The bottom line here is to drive more visitors or traffic to your website, in order to increase your potential long-term customer base and profits. It will not be enough to build a website, and submit it to the search engines, then sit back and wait in hope that visitors will come. Trust me from experience, nobody will come. Building a website is just one of the many jobs you will encounter in working towards a successful and profitable internet business.

If an internet visitor is searching for Nike golf shoes and your website sells Nike golf shoes, you would want your website’s listing to appear somewhere around the first two pages of listings on the major search engines. Currently on Google there are 1,960,000 listings for Nike golf shoes. Studies show, that most web searchers rarely look beyond the first or second page of listings. Therefore, it is critical your site listing is somewhere on the first few pages of the search engines, Otherwise, your site’s listing will become a lost speck of dust in the vast internet highway.

You must find ways to drive customers to your site, if you are going to have any chance in making profits from your internet business. SEO (search engine optimization) is the sum of techniques you apply to your website in order to make this happen. Many factors are involved in SEO. You must do well in all SEO factors, in order to get the highest possible rankings for your website listings.

Currently the three major search engines are Google, Yahoo and MSN.

Google is currently considered the “Big Daddy” of the search engines, with millions of searches conducted daily. Google also provides primary and secondary search results for many of the other internet search engines. It would be very beneficial if your website were to rank high on the Google search engine.

In SEO, we are concerned with the natural or organic search results provided by the search engines at no cost to the website owner. This is different from a pay per click campaign that involves bidding and paying for website traffic. Website owners may want to utilize pay per click campaigns along with organic results, or until the organic SEO techniques are providing you with the desired level of traffic. Of course all this will depend on the budget you have allocated towards website promotion.

Here is an incomplete list, a non-comprehensive list of some of the basic factors involved in SEO: onpage optimization which includes, keyword targeting, writing search engine friendly code, title tag and description meta tag, keyword placement, keyword density, relevant content, H1 and H2 header tags. Offpage optimization which includes, link popularity, reciprocal or back links, inbound or one-way links, anchor text with keywords. Other factors to consider are articles, blogs, podcasts, understanding and using robots.txt, submitting your site to the key search engines, converting your visitors into buyers, and many more factors are involved in SEO.

Hopefully this quick overview will provide you with a better understanding of “What is SEO.”

Stop the Guessing and Find Out Your Risk of Stroke and Heart Attack

Dr. Maulfair recently completed a noninvasive cardiovascular screening program for his patients and the public in his office in Topton (www.drmaulfair.com). The test is called Intima Media Thickness, IMT Scanning and takes ten minutes. Results show your arterial age, you may be 53 years old, as an example, but have arteries equivalent to a 67-year-old person of your same sex. If you have plaque, your results will indicate the number of lesions, their size and stability. The results predict the likelihood of suffering a heart attack or stroke; the test gives you an arterial age in comparison to your chronological age. “The statistics show 50% of men and 64% of women who have died suddenly of coronary heart disease had no previous symptoms of this disease therefore it is helpful to have a picture of the condition of your arterial health as a preventive screening,” according to Dr. Maulfair.

Dr. Maulfair goes on to explain that there are two kinds of plaque, not just one. “When you have the evidence that you are developing the king of plaque that can rupture and cause a sudden heart attack or stroke sometime in the future, people become interested and motivated to take preventive action in lifestyle choices and active noninvasive treatment choices like chelation therapy. Our seminars explain the causes and the course of the disease process and why chelation is so effective in restoring health or preventing problems in the first place.” The people who just completed this study found it to be very telling and were surprised to learn the degree of risk they may have from a clear picture of the carotid arteries in their neck.

A CardioRisk-trained sonographer places a probe on the main arteries of your neck and acquires images. The images are then transferred to a computer, processed by patented and FDA-cleared software, and analyzed at their IMT Technical Center. A summary report is printed showing how you compare to persons of your age and same sex. Keep in mind that your arteries are complex structures, more than a “pipe” carrying blood. Over your lifetime, genetic and environmental factors may cause inflammation on the inner walls of your artery. A sticky substance called plaque also builds up inside your blood vessels. The blood vessels may weaken or become so clogged that the blood supply to affected parts of the body is reduced or blocked. The flow of blood may also be affected when plaque ruptures and causes a blood clot (thrombus) blocking or clogging the blood vessel. This diagnostic test even detects a thickening of the inner tissues of an artery, which precedes plaque formation. Most insurance companies reimburse you for this test if you have known risk factors for heart disease. The risk factors include being 45 years of age or older, family history, overweight, smoker, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and little or no exercise.

In a medical journal from the year 2000 the American Heart Association Expert Panel said, “Carotid Artery B-mode Ultrasound imaging is a safe, non-invasive and relatively inexpensive means of assessing sub-clinical atherosclerosis. The technique is valid and reliable. IMT is an independent predictor of TIA (stroke-like symptoms), stroke and CAD (heart disease).”

The next group of people will be screened in the offices of Dr. Maulfair on April 6th; you can join this group and call (610-682-2104) to make your appointment and get additional information. This will be an ongoing screening program offered by the Maulfair Medical Center periodically.

Volvo S80’s ‘Spoilage Factor’

Volvo Cars introduces its ’spoilage factor’ in its flagship sedan to create an even greater customer baseline. Some enthusiasts are complaining about costly luxury cars. So Volvo is unraveling the S80’s spoilage factor without sacrificing affordability.

The most obvious change in the S80 sedan is in its aura. With a sheet metal that is quite similar to its siblings - S40 and S60 - the new sedan is expected to be a stunner in its segment. Enthusiasts are expressing their fondness of the sedan’s new shape and sculpted look. They are also amazed by the fact that the new sedan has no indication of boxiness which has served as a semaphore for the Swedish brand of the Ford Motor Co.

The interior of the car is also refined by combining the most functional and comfortable designs with that refreshing eye appeal. The S80 is equipped with a redesigned dash and simplified gauge display, two-tone, almost monochromatic materials with the finest wood accents, and reworked centre control stack layout to wow potential customers.

The flagship sedan of the Swedish automaker is equipped with Volvo power steering pump, a new 3.2 L straight-6 or 4.4 L V8 engine mated to the available four-wheel drive. The second-generation S80 is the automaker’s first sedan to become available with Volvo’s compact, transversely fitted V8. The engine is capable of generating maximum output of 315 horsepower and 440 nm of torque. With four catalytic converters and advanced electronics, the V8 engine introduced in the Volvo XC90, is one of the cleanest of its kind.

The Volvo S80 was unveiled on 28 February at the Geneva Motor Show. It went on sale in June last year. The new S80 shares the EUCD platform with its siblings - Ford’s S-MAX and Galaxy large MPVs. The car also features Volvo’s Personal Car Communicator (PCC) remote control, a fairly new feature in the auto industry, as an optional feature. Before a driver gets to their car, he is able to review the security level to ascertain whether he has set the alarm and if the car is locked. In addition, the sedan is also equipped with a heartbeat sensor that warns if someone is hiding inside the car.

To stand by the safety philosophy of the automaker, the sedan is given the blind spot detector on side mirrors, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Active Bi-Xenon Lights (ABL) to illuminate around curves in the dark and Adaptive cruise control (ACC) with Collision Warning and Brake Support (CWBS).

Enthusiasts say that the new S80 creates a noticeable difference between ’sport’ and ‘comfort’ options. However, the greatest spoilage factor, they say, is the price. The new Volvo S80 sedan carries a price sticker of $72,595 - far behind the stickers of the Lexus GS lines and the Audi A6.
