Snowboarding is one of the most exciting winter sports that you can currently participate in. When most people think of snowboarding they think of young kids shredding down the snow slope. While that may be true, there are many opportunities for older riders of all ages to enjoy snowboarding.

Most ski resorts now completely cater to the snowboard enthusiast. Not long ago ski resorts were not very welcoming to snowboarders, but as skiing popularity began decreasing during the 90’s they discovered that snowboarders spent as much or more money as their skiing counterparts and began welcoming them in droves.

Snowboarding clothing is very similar to what you would normally wear skiing. You always want to dress in layers. Marketing and design departments everywhere has created snowboarding specific clothing. The reality is it is the same warm clothing you would wear skiing that just looks more hip for the kids. Adults can certainly wear their ski pants and jackets if they want and have the same amount of fun. Snowboarding companies say that the snowboarding clothing has more room and is more comfortable which is just a fancy way of saying the clothing is baggy. Bottom line: whatever keeps you warm and dry is what you need to snowboard.

Safety is important to consider if you are traveling down the snow slope at a high rate of speed. Many people are using helmets to protect from cranial impact when you inevitably take a spill. Numerous snowboarders have found themselves hurt or even killed when losing control and smashing into a tree or other obstacle. Head trauma is generally the reason for the fatality.

Goggles or sunglasses are important to have when snowboarding. The sun can be blinding and make the glare off the snow very difficult to tolerate, making sunglasses almost necessary. However, if a snowstorm materializes on top of the mountain you will wish that you had a pair of goggles. Sunglasses will not be much help and if you have nothing to protect your eyes, making your way down the mountain will be very difficult, if next to impossible.

Most experts would recommend beginners invest some time and money in some lessons. Snowboarding looks extremely easy but the truth is it is very difficult to master. Snowboard lessons will help you become a safer rider, teach you how to mount and dismount the chairlift properly and show you the proper way to control your snowboard.

Snowboarding is an exciting sport to participate in. With the proper gear, a lesson or two and a ton of practice you will understand why it is the fastest growing winter sport these days and why it is so much fun.

Chris considers snowboarding one of his favorite activities. He considers standing on top of the slope getting ready to ride down a fresh powdered mountain as one of the world’s great experiences. If you also enjoy the thrill of snowboarding, click here to visit our website.

Six-year-old Carlos Melendez stood in line waiting as his first-grade teacher bid farewell to her students at the end of the school day during the second week of school. She was completing her ritual of placing a sticker on the hand of every child who had been good that day. As she reached out to give Carlos a sticker, he informed her, “I don’t need a sticker to know when I’ve been good. I can tell on the inside.” When Carlos’s teacher complained about his attitude at parent/teacher conferences, Carlos’s parents told her his statement was correct. They politely informed the teacher that Carlos’s motivation to do well in school came from the inside and they preferred that she no longer use stickers with him.

Karyn Murphy’s parents recently received a letter from their child’s third-grade teacher. It explained how many books their daughter would need to read in order to attend the class pizza party at the end of the month. The pizza party was the reward children would be receiving for their reading efforts. The letter instructed the parents to sign a form verifying her books and number of pages read. Karyn’s parents returned the form to the teacher, accompanied by a letter of their own. It said, “Our daughter reads because she loves reading. Your program of rewarding children with pizza for reading teaches children that the reason to read is to earn an external reward. We feel this undermines her internal motivation of wanting to read for adventure, fun, and personal interest. Are you aware that this practice actually results in less student reading once the program has ended? We, As Karyn’s parents, are not interested in a quick-fix style of motivation that results in many books read quickly to obtain a reward. We are interested in creating a lifelong reader. Pizza parties will not attain that result. Please know that we will continue to encourage Kayrn’s interest in reading our way and that we will not be recording the number of books she reads. We expect that she will be allowed to attend the party with her classmates.”

Mary and John Edgerton had been anticipating the arrival of their eighth-grade son’s report card for several days. When it finally arrived in the mail they kept it sealed until they could meet together as a family with their son Richard and his two younger sisters. That night they held their usual report card ritual, the one they had begun when Richard was in sixth grade and received his first report card with letter grades. Mary Edgerton gathered the baking dish, the matches, and the air freshener. She made no attempt to peek through the envelope as she held it and its contents over the baking dish. Her husband John lit the match and ignited the envelope. All family members watched Richard’s report card go up in flames. A cheer, a pan full of ashes, and the smell of air freshener signaled the end of the symbolic gesture and the beginning of Mr. Edgerton’s familiar lecture. He reminded everyone, “Your grades do not matter to us. They are not who you are or what you can become. Grades are no measure of your learning. What we care about is wisdom, how you apply the knowledge you have. We will call tomorrow to make appointments with all of your teachers, Richard, so that you, your mother, and I can get an understanding of the learnings you have come away with this semester and how you are using them in your life.”

The parents in the scenarios above represent a growing number who are speaking and acting out concerning their dissatisfaction with the escalating educational practice of distributing stars, stickers, smiley faces, grades and other external goodies in order to control how children act.

Most parents know that rewards produce short-term compliance. Any parent who has ever offered a child a trip to the movies if they clean their room knows that. And external rewards are incredibly easy to use. The problem is that many parents and some teachers do not know that external rewards do not produce lasting change. In fact, these extrinsic reward systems often have the reverse effect. They teach children that the reason to act responsibly, read, study, or behave altruistically is to get rewarded. This fails to help children develop an internal reason to do the desired behavior. So when the reward is ended so does the behavior. Children then do less of the behavior than those students who were never rewarded in the first place.

An increasing number of parents are beginning to realize that the more rewards are used, the more they are needed in the future, and as children grow in age and size, it is necessary to increase the size of the reward.

These parents are concerned because the quick-fix control systems of rewards often used in schools teach that learning is something one does to get an M&M, a gold star, or your name on the board rather than as something that is important for its own sake.

If intrinsic motivation has been carefully nurtured by the parent and does exist within a child, it is overridden as children learn to rely on the external control offered by teachers looking for quick and easy answers to their frustrations.

Offering children rewards for acting responsibly, learning a number of spelling words, or sitting silently at the school assembly assumes that these students have no interest in acting that way without the rewards. It shows a lack of trust of children and an unwillingness on the part of the adult to invest the time necessary to give reasons, teach the desired behaviors, or display patience while children learn from their mistakes. Rewards are being used by teachers who are looking for an easy way out, a way that does not require teaching children the compelling whys to do the desired behavior.

Rewards only create a temporary change in behavior. They do not alter what children believe or how they feel about an activity. They do not create self-motivated, self-directed, critical-thinking, reasoning children with a strong internal set of values.

Rewards teach children to do what is necessary to get the reward and no more. Creativity, thoroughness, and risk taking suffer. Children learn to play it safe, take shortcuts, and get done.

Parents like the Edgertons, Melendezes, and Murphys are beginning to ask questions about the practice of dispensing rewards. Are the teachers who use them developing self-responsible children or youngsters who obey without thinking? Have the teachers thought about the long-term effects of the practice, or are rewards just a convenient way to gain compliance? How interesting and relevant is the assigned task if the teacher has to give my child a reward to do it? Are rewards actually punishing our children?

The Edgertons, Melendezes, and Murphys are like many parents taking a stand on the practice of giving children rewards to get them to comply. They have moved past just asking the question, why is the teacher giving my kid M&M’s? They are doing something about it.

Learn To Speak Chinese Mandarin - How To Save Time & Start Speaking In 58 Minutes (Part 1 Of 3)

In any language, regardless of which one, be it English, German, Spanish, Hindi, Zulu – even Chinese – they share 3 common, powerful traits. Understanding what these powerful traits are, is your passport to surge forward in your language ability regardless of whether you’re just beginning to learn Chinese or you’re already well on your China Speaking journey.

A word of advice before you read on: These points are simple. I believe that it’s the simple things in life, like in nature, that are often the most impactful. It’s very easy to gloss over these 3 golden keys and have that little voice in your head say “Yeah rriiiight! – only three?” and after learning these 3 golden keys, say “…Is that it?!”

If you believe that little voice in your head, you might as well save your time now and not continue reading on.

Still here? Wise choice.

So what Exactly are these 3 simple yet powerful golden keys?

I want you to imagine your house. I assume it’s standing and can withstand the wind, the elements so WHY is it standing?

Because it has a strong foundation, right? Strong walls.

Let’s say that you live in a cottage-styled, brick house. Your strong walls are made of bricks and mortar.

One of the 3 simple yet powerful golden keys to powering forward in learning any language is just like your house – made up of strong Bricks.

#1 Powerful Language Trait – Bricks

Bricks are the solid things that make up our wall. The type of ‘brick’ depends on the situation that we’re in. Are we in the desert? Deep in the humid, tropical jungle? In the arctic?

In each of those settings, different building materials, different ‘bricks’ needed to be used, wouldn’t you agree?

For example, in the desert, it’ll be sand, tundra, farm animal manure. In the tropical jungle, it’ll be logs and wooden planks. In the arctic, you guessed it, ice blocks.

It is the same thing in language where vocabulary are our ‘bricks’. The type of vocabulary that we use very much depends on our situation. Are we negotiating in a business setting? Having a chat with friends over dinner? Bargaining and haggling with the street vendor in one of the open-air markets?

In each of those situations, particular bricks, particular words are used and not usually used elsewhere.

I can’t really imagine you referring to your mother when you’re negotiating in business…or asking for a fried rice when shopping for clothing.

So HOW do you make the most of Golden Key #1 – Bricks?

Look at your particular situation - ask yourself and write down: WHAT kind of words would I use in this situation?

If it makes things easier – imagine, in your native language, what kind of words would you use in that situation?

Be free with yourself and let it all flow out, whatever comes out until nothing else appears. Take a 7 minute break – get up and out, into the sun, outside, take some deep breaths, walk around.

Then ask yourself Again right then and there… What would I Say or Hear in such a situation?

You’ll find that the thoughts will start flowing again.

Compile all these words that you’ve gathered for your particular situation, get their Chinese equivalent and you can start learning those you feel most relevant.

Happy Chinese Speaking!

At some point in their lives men will need to find ways to ensure that they can last longer in bed during sexual intercourse. Hopefully these tips to last longer in bed may just be of use to you at some point in the future.

1. As you begin to feel the first telltale sensations in your penis such as heightened sensitivity and energy that if you carry on what you are doing then you are going to explode. But no longer do you need to panic! So many men are pushed over the edge right to the point of ejaculation because they mentally begin to panic and think that they are about to orgasm. However instead of thinking that you are about to blow instead calmly say in your head “so I’m close to ejaculation now it is time to use an arousal step down technique”. So you can now move on to the next step which will help you to last longer in bed.

2. You will find that the most sensitive part of your penis is the top of the shaft and more especially the head. In order to decrease the stimulation it is feeling without actually stopping the action you should slowly and deeply thrust into your partner. It should be as far as you can but only as far as that is also pleasurable to your partner. Next you need to gently grind your hips and wiggle your pubic bone against her vagina. But doing this you are momentarily decreasing the stimulation to yourself which will enable you to last longer.

By using this technique you are more able to control your urge to pop without having to stop sex and also providing your partner with some extra sexual stimulation as well.

Another tip for helping you to last longer in bed is to do with breathing. Many men are unaware that by breathing properly they can help develop ejaculatory control. By taking a few deep breaths you are not only helping yourself to relax but it also helps to calm the arousal and tension that you will feeling which often is the signs leading up to premature ejaculation. So take some time and practice deep, easy, relaxed breathing techniques which will help to relax your entire body.

Above we have provided you with just a couple of tips to last longer in bed but there are plenty of other methods such as desensitizing creams.

Ricky recommends using Enlast desensitizing cream to stop premature ejaculation. Click here for more information.

When you enter the trading environment, you’ll find that you are in a whole new world. If you haven’t figured it out already, it is volatile, fast-paced, unforgiving, demanding, maybe even nonsensical. It is also exhilarating, addictive, challenging, stimulating, and definitely - at times - rewarding. What other work environment offers such a chaotic dynamic every 5 minutes? For the average trader, this environment is very conducive to doing things you never thought you would do; to questioning every single decision you made before, during and even after the decision was made; and to being more reactive than proactive with your decisions and actions.

That’s why it takes a certain type of person, personality, character to be able to “tame the beast”, if you will. If you don’t, the beast will get the best of you which is exactly what we don’t want to happen. How many of us have sat in the middle of a trade, done the unthinkable (e.g., continue to buy and add to a losing position); then turn around and ask yourself “Why did I do that?!” I think we all have.

For some reason, there are times when all logic goes out the window when it comes to trading, but only if you allow it to. Keeping your emotions in check is one of several crucial components to successful trading. Other crucial components include creating a trading plan and developing a trading strategy. The most crucial component, though, might be having the discipline and focus to follow the plan as well as the control and calm to not only apply the strategy but to stick to it.

I was reading in a business publication several months ago about one of the most successful individuals trading today, I’ll call him John. What I remember most about the article was John’s control and calm in executing his strategy. Without getting into the minor details, he had been mentioning to colleagues that based on the information and data he had, a “certain something” was going to happen to Company A’s stock.

Sure enough, it happened. If John had managed the trade “properly”, his colleagues knew that he was in for a windfall, so they asked him how much money he made. “None”, he responded. None? Nothing? Nada? How can that be? He explained that handling the trade that would have made him a large sum of money was simply not part of his strategy. He chose logic over emotion, was sufficiently disciplined to follow his plan, and very much in control to stick to his strategy. This is a person who probably does not ask himself very often, “Why did I do that?!”

In order to get to this level of control and calm, you have to be confident in yourself and secure in the knowledge that you control and own your trading - not the other way around. You have to believe in and commit to your trading plan and trading strategy because if you don’t, you will be asking yourself that dreaded question more often than you would like. I know it is easier said than done, but I believe that with the investment of ample time, effort, and energy, we can all aspire to be as successful a trader as is John.

2) Do not shop when hungry, stressed or in a rush. If you shop when hungry you unless you are strong willed you might be tempted to buy something that is not on your list to keep you going. Have a healthy bar or handful of nuts handy if you think you will be sidetracked.

3) Buy the basic store cupboard items once a week and fresh fruit and vegetables at least twice a week. Fruit and vegetables loose nutrients the longer they are stored. Five portions of fruit a vegetables a day is the minimum to aim for.

4) Buy a good variety of vegetables and fruit and look for the freshest. Try to buy things that are in season and are locally sourced. Try things you do not normally eat, you might be pleasantly surprised.

5) Look for organic where possible. Buying staples like organic brown rice or other grains, carrots and potatoes as a minimum. Grains and carrots are notorious for sapping up toxins from the ground. Buy free range meat and fish from relatively unpolluted waters if you cannot get organic.

6) Avoid the cake and cookie displays so you are not tempted.

7) Try some different grains (really seeds) such as millet, amaranth, quinoa and buckwheat. They are gluten free and not so taxing on the digestion. They release carbohydrates slowly helping to keep your blood sugar balanced. They supply fibre, B vitamins, magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron and selenium. Fibre rich diets can halve the risk of breast cancer.

8) Try some vegetarian meals based on beans and lentils in place of animal proteins.
Soak well in pure water overnight before cooking. Introduce them gradually if you are not used to them as they can cause digestive problems for some people.

9) Look out for healthy alternatives to cereal bars which are often high in sugar and hydrogenated fats. Look for wheat free bars with natural fruit juice sweeteners.

10) Avoid all ready meals and processed foods. Besides being stripped of many nutrients they often contain unhealthy fats, artificial sweeteners, petroleum derived preservatives, MSG and other additives which may be harmful to your health.

A Blast From The Past

Where are all the good old days, when music was still being played live, using real instruments, instead of just synthesizing sounds in a professional sound studio? Should we listen to the songs created these days, we might certainly find similarities with a few older, but nevertheless famous songs, which have just been remixed into a new piece.

Though I do not wish to criticize anyone for their efforts, these remixes are causing confusion in the music world, most teens forgetting the original songs, in favor of their newer counterparts. I will admit to liking some of these mixes myself, but I am totally against the original author losing his claim to his own work. One solution to this problem would be to credit the original author for his contribution to the new piece, yet most dj’s are reluctant to give anyone else credit for what they believe is “improving” a piece.

Also, with so much underground music being released nowadays, it’s getting increasingly hard to determine who stole what from whom. The only real thing we can claim for sure is the music industry is losing originality rapidly, not only because of the ignorance of the artists themselves, but also because of the fans that support them. When a band was questioned last month about why their song sounded so similar to an older one (names will not be mentioned, so as not to attack one single incident, but the whole phenomenon), their answer was briefly “What do you expect when there are only 7 notes?”.

If this is the kind of band we encourage, then we should first look at ourselves before we can jump to any conclusions about what they’re doing. After all, it is us, the fans, who give them their power, isn’t it? If we truly care about our music heritage, we will speak up for the ones who have given us those golden memories, or forever lay them to rest, along with the feeling that someone else should’ve done something about it.

Born 1988, I have devoted my time to studying languages even as a toddler. The result of my work is a literature career that never started and a desire to perfect oneself that never ends. Although poetry is my first choice, having a collection of unpublished poems to account for that, I now write free articles for websites.
