Complementary And Alternative Medicine

It is confirmed that the health of diabetic patient’s feet is very important and any injury or bruise, the size of a spot may cause problems right down to the bone and cause gangrene, so diabetics should take care of their feet from shoes to socks and nails to heels. Experts stated at a press conference that for diabetics the most vulnerable organ is their feet. The feet are the organs which are most exposed so when the flow of blood slows at the feet they start to lose sensitivity. An expert claims that even a little bruise might leave the feet more vulnerable to future injuries so diabetics should protect their feet:

“Your feet should be washed every night with warm water, be dried thoroughly and moisturised. After sports and walking, the underside of the feet should be checked with a mirror to ensure there are no bruises. Socks musn’t be too big or too small, musn’t be scrunched up or torn. Shoes should be made from soft leather, with smooth inside and not pointed or tapered at the front. Toe nails should be cut short. Nails should be cut straight across, not rounded.” ( Alternative Medicine )

Experts warn that if diabetic people don’t take these warnings seriously and don’t follow these guidelines they may lose their feet or legs, “treatment is too difficult and lengthy. If injuries don’t heal properly, even a little bruise the size of a spot can reach the bone and become gangrene and can cause loss of toes or whole feet.”

188 Stage Hero’s Journey (Monomyth) - Constant Gardener (2005) Basic Deconstruction

FORWARD

The 188 stage Hero’s Journey (Monomyth) is the template upon which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based upon. In fact, ALL of the hundreds of Hollywood movies we have deconstructed (see URL below) are based on this 188+ stage template.

Understanding this template is a priority for story or screenwriters. This is the template you must master if you are to succeed in the craft.

[The terminology is most often metaphoric and applies to all successful stories and screenplays, from The Godfather (1972) to Brokeback Mountain (2006) to Annie Hall (1977) to Lord of the Rings (2003) to Drugstore Cowboy (1989) to Thelma and Louise (1991) to Apocaplyse Now (1979)].

THERE IS ONLY ONE STORY

THE 188 STAGE HERO’S JOURNEY:

a) Attempts to tap into unconscious expectations the audience has regarding what a story is and how it should be told.

b) Gives the writer more structural elements than simply three or four acts, plot points, mid point and so on.

c) Gives you a tangible process for building and releasing dissonance (establishing and achieving catharses, of which there are usually four).

d) Tells you what to write. For example, at a certain stage of the story, the focus should be on the Call to Adventure and the micro elements within.

Lies, Damned Lies and Franchise Statistics

Those prospective entrepreneurs considering buying a franchise are bombarded by statistics which show that Franchisees seem to do much better than stand alone small businesses. However they should approach the statistics with extreme caution.

The oft-touted statistic that after 5 years the percentage of Franchises still in business is much higher than non-franchise start-ups is not borne out by anecdotal evidence. So what is the truth? Well much of the apparent discrepancy can be explained by a simple analysis of the way in which the numbers are sampled.

Staggeringly, the basis for franchise associations’ surveys is polling of CURRENT franchisees only. This means that the very group that the survey is trying to identify, the franchises that have failed, are excluded from the survey.

The reason for the discrepancy between statistics reported by the franchise industry and independent studies, is difference in methodology. Surveys done by Franchise Associations are done by sending questionnaires only to existing franchisees. Which means that all those franchisees who couldn’t make it work and sold their franchises are excluded from the figures. Only the franchisees who went bust and couldn’t sell their franchises are taken into account.

How very convenient if the objective of the survey is to promote the sale of franchises!

Always be aware of these harsh realities when considering any franchise:

1. Many franchisees never make much money. Average profitability is poor, especially after taking into account the purchase price of the franchise. So take the hype used to sell franchises with a big pinch of salt!

2. “Studies” used to sell franchises are paid for by the franchisors. Don’t mistake the information provided for balanced consumer guide information. It’s a carefully engineered sales pitch. Getting hold of the information you need to make a rational buying decision is difficult, to say the least. So use your common sense and a healthy dose of cynical discretion.

3. Franchise agreements always favour the franchisor. It is very easy to be swept away in the heat of the moment and get into a binding contract that is not in your best long term interests. And it is very hard to get out of a franchise agreement without taking a big financial loss.

4. Remember, the main purpose of franchising is to make the franchisor wealthy. So be careful.

Have a look at http://www.realworldfranchising.com for more information.

Gareth Williams is an advisor on franchising from the franchise buyers perspective. A past franchise owner he has real experience of franchising ‘from the trenches’. He has written what many consider to be the definitive guide to buying a franchise. This is available from http://www.realworldfranchising.com

How To Start, Build, Maintain, Or Fix Financial Freedom And Security

Ok, now that you’ve taken the first step to becoming financially independent and secure, I’m going to share 10 ways to start, build, maintain, or fix your financial situation/circumtance.

1. Establish and maintain motivation to being financial secure.

2. Don’t get discouraged if it’s taking a while. Patience and consistency are key elements.

3. Financial freedom, security, and wealth come from multiple avenues of income. Unless of course you’re fortunate to inherit wealth.

4. Start small and work your way up. Taking too big of a step could be overwhelming.

5. Open a savings account. Starting with a savings account allows you to put away money that is earning interest. Therefore, your money will be generating a small income. REMEMBER:start small. Be dedicated to putting money into the account on a frequent basis. (A specific amount is good, and you should set a specific reoccurring time to put the money in the account, like every paycheck or once or twice a month.) TIPS: It’s more helpful if you don’t touch the money at all unless it’s an emergency.

6. Establish an emergency fund. This allows you to have money on hand in the event your regular income can’t cover your expenses. (You could open another savings account for this.)The amount can be determined by the most costly expense you might encounter such as car transmission, roof leak, etc. $2000 is a good starting point.

7. Once your savings account reaches the necessary minimum to open a CD(certificate of deposit), transfer the money into a CD. This will earn more interest than a regular savings account. (Note: the more you put in and the longer you set the term, the more interest you will earn. CDs usually start at $500, and terms generally run from 6mos-5yrs. Some banks offer large minimums with short terms that have promotional rates that are higher than regular CDs, wachovia bank is one of those banks.)

8. Once you’ve started a small money generating agent and set aside your emergency fund, then you can start working on your debt. You want to pay more on your balance than the minimum requirement. **You can work on your debt before opening a CD, but you shouldn’t work on debt before establishing a money generating agent and an emergency fund. If you don’t have a back-up (emergency fund and savings) for your primary income, you’ll most likely need to use some form of debt product (loans, credit cards, borrowing from friend/family) in an emergency situation or when your primary income doesn’t cover your expenses.**

9. Research other means to occur avenues of income. Some starters are paid surveys, bonds, stocks, mutual funds, investments (real estate, businesses, etc.), IRAs, money market accounts, more CDs, etc. **The more avenues you have, the more income you will earn, therefore, building and maintaining financial freedom/seurity/wealth.

10. DON’T GIVE UP! and stay with it. There are many ways to build something, however, there’s one principle that must always be present, STARTING WITH A STRONG AND SOLID FOUNDATION!

In closing, remember that financial freedom, security, and wealth is established by multiple avenues of income. You should always have an emergency fund or back-up fund for your primary income before working on debt to ensure that you don’t have to rely on debt products for help. Start small with money generating sources, too big of a step could be overwhelming financially. Don’t look at putting money aside as a bill, look at it as self financial promoting or as a self made retirement tool. Always keep in mind, patience and consistency, and stay motivated and encouraged. Beginning with the first five steps will help you establish a strong and stable foundation to build off of. Good luck and stay positive!

Income Taxes, The Greedy Government

Dreadful federal income taxes
The greedy government
Is after our money again
Uncle Sam is not my friend
Misuse and misappropriate
The needy taxpayers funds
Soak, sponge, and spend
Tax assessments without end
Local, state, and federal funds
Anyone way to put you under
Their domineering grip and gun
Another Boston Tea Party
Would serve we the people well
Fire all the scoundrels on the Hill
Remove the criminals pensions
Pentagon excessive spending
Arms deals and lucrative contracts
Wining and dining for big dollars
Pull your hair out and holler
Work hard and give it all away
How they spend it, you have no say
Politicians drive me far beyond crazy
Legislators and leaders most lazy
Fat cats having fun in Washington DC
Evading and avoiding taxes annually
Sheltering their savings off shore
In interest free and no fee accounts
Congressmen in DC beat the system
I wish we could happily join them
At least gain some equality and breaks
As they milk the government and fake
To serve the good people of America
Of course there are a few sincere souls
But what about all of those who stole?
Perhaps I should stop diligently working too
Lay around the house and get the dole
That we the working class reluctantly pay
While others get food stamps and freebies
Such injustice gives me the heebiejeebies
It is time we hold Big Brother to account
Homeland security and peace is paramount
Fiascos and international meddling abroad
This is neither moral, necessary, nor of God
We’ve got blood stained hands in this land
For ill-conceived and immoral operations
Financing the CIA to buy Colombian crack
Illegally profiting from peddling drugs is wack
Hundreds of billions to pay for war in Iraq
It’s time the IRS repented and gave it back
To we who sweat, toil, and break our backs
Help the people here first who live in lack.

Many people that you know who were born during a particular decade have a similar name as the popular ones listed above. This is due to a study that most people follow trends and will give their baby a name based on current popularity.

Many people do not like to sway away from the norm and name their child an unusual name for fear of ridicule or embarrassment in the future.

Choose your child’s name on various factors

1) Your family namesake - maybe a father or grandfather

2) A religious icon

3) A mentor

4) Maybe the name has a specific meaning such as achiever of success

How to Contact Comic Book Artists and Writers

The first annual New York Comic-con brought out Milla Jovovich and was so successful, organizers almost had to shut it down. The second annual New York Comic-con was organized much better, even bringing out Steven King and Stan Lee to meet fans.

Below are some more insider tips for contacting your favorite comic book artists and writers at various comic book conventions around the country…

Meeting in Person:

Although most comic book creators, artists, and writers will tell you where to send fan mail inside their publications, the comic book industry also takes great pains to make itself available to their fan base through conventions, expos, and fan events.

The general rule of thumb is if you wait a while, a comic convention (or “comic-con”) is likely to be announced in your area, and the organizers will make all sorts of promises as to who will be there (most of whom won’t show up). Buy your ticket anyway, and take a few hundred bucks and a good Sharpie pen — because even if the people who show up aren’t the people promised, they’ll most likely be worth meeting.

Most comic conventions today go far beyond only comic books. They often feature actors, directors, television stars, set designers, comic artists, writers, and an assortment of retro names that will have you scratching your head trying to remember who they were. The show will usually charge around $25 for a ticket, but the attractions will last all day long, from rare film screenings to autograph sessions to bootleg comics for sale. Most conventions travel around the country so fans don’t have to spend any money to travel.

What should you bring to get signed? Nothing really, unless you know someone is going to be there and you have some great piece of memorabilia sitting around relevant to that person. Usually there are plenty of items for sale at comic conventions you can purchase to have signed.

Prices at convention’s vendor booths are usually not cheap, however you can pick up some really neat pieces of pop culture memorabilia if you look hard enough, and the chance to get that item signed by its creator can be something really special.

Comic book conventions and the comics themselves are a huge industry that gets bigger every year. Therefore, comic-cons are a great place to spot up and coming stars before their signatures becomes worth thousands of dollars when they really hit it big.

How do you find a comic convention I your area? It’s pretty easy — just visit the Comic Book Conventions Web site. This resource list all upcoming comic-cons, usually four or five per weekend, and it also announces changes to programming, cancellation, and contact information.

The better conventions come back the same time every year, such as the Mid-Ohio-Con, which takes places in Columbus, Ohio on Thanksgiving weekend. The 2004 Mid-Ohio-Con lineup included the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld and Noel Neill, the original TV Lois Lane, as well as numerous other comic industry names.

The Vancouver Comic-Con happens once every few months, while Dragon-Con takes place each September. Every corner of the country has some sort of gathering, but even if you have to get in the car and drive a few hours to a really good-size convention near you, the money spent in doing so can be gained back when you take that authentic John Byrne sketch and put it up for auction on eBay.

The big names of the comic convention business include the following:

San Diego Comic-Con International, P.O. Box 128458, San Diego, CA 92112-8458, 619-491-2475

The biggest and the best, Comic-Con has become a brand name in the business. Tens of thousands of enthusiasts gather every year, some flying in from across the country to listen to panels of experts, get autographs, buy memorabilia, watch special screenings of movies, and just hang out.

Dragon*Con, P.O. Box 16459, Atlanta, GA 30321-0459, 770-909-0115

A solid number two, Dragon*Con takes on more of a fantasy tilt-but it’s not just for Dungeons and Dragons fanatics. D*C gets bigger every year, and as the collectors grow from obsessed teenagers to well-funded adult fans, the money going through the registers keeps increasing as well.

Big Apple Comic Convention, 75-34 Metropolitan Avenue, New York, NY 11379, 201-865-3288

This one is in New York City, so of course it’s big. If you live in the northeast, the Big Apple Con is the one for you.

Mid-Obio-Con, P.O. Box 3831, Mansfield, OH 44907, 419-526-1427

The Midwest really knows how to put on a show, and M-O-C always has an interesting lineup of names. It’s not the biggest comic-con around, but it’s got a reputation as one of the best.

Mega-Con, P.O. Box 1097, Safety Harbor, FL 34695, 727-796-5725

New York Comic-con, Jacob Javiz Center, 655 West 34th Street, New York, NY 10001, 1-888-605-6059

Edge Performance Transforms your Diesel Truck into a Modern Hot Rod

To get your diesel juices flowing, check out Edge Performance. Their collection of modules, programmers and monitors are guaranteed to sharpen your rig’s performance edge. Whether your competition is a quarter-mile drag or a 10% grade, Edge products deliver the power and torque we crave.

Any power project starts with a performance module. Hands down, a module is the easiest way to extract hidden torque and horsepower from your diesel mill. In fact, your oiler is hiding more power than the average econo-car even has! By optimizing fuel and timing, a monitor like the Edge Juice can squeeze an extra 125 ponies and 300 ft/lbs of torque from your truck. It’s that simple; just plug the module into your OBD-II port and hang on tight.

Keeping tabs on this much power is a must. Adding a performance monitor like the Edge Attitude lets you control your module from the comfort of your truck’s cab. And, a performance monitor also gives you a cockpit full of gauges. All your truck’s vital statistics are right at your fingertips: MPH, RPM, EGT and boost pressure. Plus, you can track 0-60, quarter-mile and best-pass times so you know how your rig stacks up against the contenders.

Drawing from both these products is the ultimate in diesel tuning-the power programmer. A power programmer is essentially a module and a monitor in one package that’s overflowing with features. The Edge Evolution Programmer monitors up to 24 different vitals and packs a triple-digit punch of horsepower and torque. Customs programs tune your truck for any driving situation-performance, towing-even fuel economy. And, these adjustments can be made on the fly in seconds.

Don’t worry about voiding your warranty or raising the dealer’s eyebrow with any of these Edge products. Once unplugged, modules and programmers leave no footprint and are completely undetectable. When you take your rig in for dealer maintenance, simply unplug your gear and remove it. Once the work is done, plug ‘er back in and get back to buckling the blacktop.

If you want to smoke the track, tow serious tonnage over serious grades or reduce your visits to the pump, any of these products from Edge Performance are designed to do the trick. Check out what other diesel enthusiasts are saying about Edge Performance:

“Quick and easy installation! I wouldn’t have thought something so small could pack this Big of a PUNCH!!! Definatly worth the money. Before I was afraid to pass anyone, due to no responce. Now I find myself passing everyone. An EGT & BOOST gage a MUST!! Enjoy! I AM!!”

“Wow! was the first thing I could say after controlling the huge smile on my face. All I can say now is I wished I would have ordered this years ago. I tow a 24 ft. rv and use to hate climbing steep grades at 45-50 mph with the throttle pegged now I take the same hills set on #2 at about 65 mph with throttle left to spare. Not real sure about gas savings but I know it’s not any worse than it use to be. I love my truck again!!! Rick”

“Awesome POWER!!! Simple to install and easy to use.”

“Wow! All that power with no sweat to install. Perfect for someone that wants the power without all the hassle. I installed it myself and I can barely change my own oil!”

So, when it’s time to transform your rig from a basic hay hauler into a spooled-up torque monster, Edge Products, like Edge Performance Chips provide all the muscle you need. Hailing from Ogden, Utah-where they take truckin’ seriously-these folks have been honing the cutting edge of diesel performance since 1999.- David S. Brooks

Still Using Traditional Storage Media?

Did you just download that amazing live concert of your favorite band on to your desktop computer? Now you scurry about trying to burn the concert on to a CDR, but the same error pops up every time? Not enough disk space. Carrying compact disks around is just extra baggage that you don’t need in this increasingly high tech world. You then realize that your computer is connected to the internet where there is an unlimited amount of storage readily available and your problems are solved!

Dealing with traditional media can be frustrating to say the least, which is why there is a faster and more efficient way to deliver files to different destinations. The more efficient and cheaper way to move data is sharing files online. Instead of cutting up files and reassembling them using multiple cd’s and multiple programs, you can simply go to an upload website and upload your files in to the website database. From there you can access your files or have other access those files from anywhere in the world.

You may think, “Why can’t I send big files over email?” Well, file sharing through email is not a secure way to send file, and to be honest, e-mail isn’t exactly made for large file transfers like movies. Email is designed for text and small attachments such as images or small documents.

Using a file sharing and uploading website is simple. The best type of file sharing website is one where there is no sign up necessary. With in moments, your movies, pictures, and audio file will be on the internet to share with all sorts of people that you can invite to come see your stuff.

Online file sharing also reduces that possibility of data loss that could come about if your CDR backup disk is scratched or lost. Most online file storage websites offer regular data backups provided by their data center which nearly eliminates the possibility of information being lost even if a hard drive is to fail.

As internet bandwidth limits increase, it will slowly eliminate the use of traditional media storage. Everyday, more information is being stored online at high speed data centers rather than on personal computers and storage devices. Music, movies, and games are streamed and played directly online rather than being purchased in the form of media or even downloaded to your PC. Convenience and innovation is making online file sharing the new wave of the future!

This article was written for our friends at Share2Net - http://www.share2net.com to let you know about the advantages of using online file sharing. Article written and distributed bySteve Cancel at Secure Link.
