Don’t Let Your Computer Bite The Dust

Dust! Have you ever opened up your computer and noticed a healthy sheet of dust dwelling inside? Well, if you live on Maui you probably know the dust I’m talking about. The reddish cloud that disperses into the air when you blow on it is genuine Maui dust! So why should this dust concern you, and what can you do about it?

Normal dust finds its way to every surface. Not even the fans, floppy disks, hard disks, and circuitry of our computers are safe from it. Dust on a computer fan isn’t necessarily catastrophic but if you notice the fan has trouble spinning it’s time to replace it. Floppy drives are very vulnerable to dust because of their exposed nature. You may notice strange errors or an outright failure of your floppy drive if it is damaged. Hard drives are not nearly as forgiving as floppy drives. They are built and sealed in a static and dust free environment but after years of use it is possible for a grain of dust to find its way inside the protective shell. Once inside the dust can easily send the read/write mechanism to its demise by crashing it into the data section of the disk spinning at up to 10,000 RPM. Unfortunately this destroys both your hard disk and its data, and sometimes beyond repair! Now that we have covered normal dust lets discuss Maui’s dust.

Everyone knows that Maui’s weather is unique, but did you know our dust is equally unique? Maui’s dust is heavily concentrated with iron. Iron is a conductive, corrosive substance. Once it collects on electronic components it eventually corrodes through the circuitry’s protective coating and then through the wires themselves. Unfortunately due to today’s advanced micro soldering techniques this type of damage is not repairable. The entire board must be replaced! I’ve seen a vast amount of computers bite the dust while working here on Maui. It’s an unfortunate but avoidable event. So how can you protect your computer from dust here on Maui?

First, do not use a vacuum cleaner to clean you computer! The tiny dust particles that pass over the plastic nozzle of your vacuum build a static charge. If the static discharges on your computer (known as an ESD or Electro Static Discharge) you are sure to destroy something. The best way to clean your computer is to use compressed air that you can purchase from Costco or any hardware store. The air will blow the dust away without creating any harmful static. Another way to prevent dust from getting to your computer is to cover it while it is turned off. Those are the simplest ways to protect your computer from Maui dust and it will help extend the life of your computer.

Spam affects literally everyone who uses the Internet these days. Wether it’s a free Yahoo email account or paid account from an ISP, a spammer more than likely will find you if they haven’t already. What to do about spam has been highly debated and a huge market exists to block spammers.

Anti-spam software has been utilized by millions to combat the irrelevant and sometimes crude advertising that fills their business and personal inboxes. The big problem with anti-spam software and email accounts is that many emails, some which you may be expecting can get put into the blocked folders unintentionally. This can create a huge hassle for many people and browsing through a spam folder can be even more difficult when you have 500 messages. You more than likely end up deleting more than a few non-spam messages, some that are important.

The best and most wise step to combating spam is to do your best to not end up on a list where spammers may find you. Follow some of these tips and you may find spam no longer is a word that relates to your everyday life.

1.) Carefully read all online forms you fill out. Many forms have opt-in buttons prechecked for approval of emailed offers from their partners. You want to make sure you uncheck those boxes. Unless you know all their partners, you probably don’t want loads of offers and rebates from companies you don’t know.

2.) When filling out forms make sure you look for a disclaimer stating that your email will be kept confidential and not sold. Many companies sell their email information to people who in turn sometimes resell email names down the line to shadier companies until lists are available to anyone. Anyone includes spammers.

3.) Money making offers online, beware! If the offer to make money from home is vague there’s a good chance your email will be handed to a database of 100 or more people looking to recruit for their MLM. This can end you up with tons of money making opportunities and yes, the quality of offers will deteriorate and eventually expect viagra and porn offers a year from now. Make sure you know the money making opportunity before giving your email, otherwise expect the worst.

All in all, common sense is more than likely going to be your best weapon against spam. Don’t put your email in the hands of just anyone. Treat your email as you would your own child.

Self Adjusting Technique

How to do simple and gentle adjustments on yourself.

Have you ever really needed a chiropractor? You wake up in the morning and you can barely move. You slept in a poor position and your neck hurts. It’s out of alignment and you need help. Your day is wasted as you call to see if you can even get an appointment. All you can do is wait until you can finally go in for an adjustment. In pain you make your way to the chiropractors office. After your five minutes with the doctor you’re finally functional. But within hours, the forcing involved in most chiropractic adjustments can leave you in more pain than you were in before! But, what else could you have done?

It doesn’t have to be like that any more. You can now literally take maters into your own hands with Self Adjusting Technique. SAT is a series of gentle and easy to do manipulations that allow you to gently correct most joint misalignments in your own body. Even better, you accomplish these adjustments without forcing, cracking, pain or the large amounts of money inherent in chiropractic adjustments. Imagine waking up with that sore neck and taking just a minute or two to adjust yourself, relieve your discomfort and move on into your day pain free.

I started developing these techniques because I couldn’t afford the 30+ visits the chiropractor said I required to get back to full functionality. But I did learn something valuable from his techniques. He used a tool called an activator, which some chiropractors use to knock the joint back into position. It is a relatively gentle technique, not as gentle as Self Adjusting Technique, but better than the usual forcing with most chiropractic work. So, I scraped together enough for a second visit and paid close attention to what he was doing. As a yoga instructor I had great familiarity with the body, and I was able to figure out how to work with my back and get myself out of pain. Every morning I would spend forty-five minutes or more fixing my back. As time progressed, I continued to develop different and better methods. In many cases I now have different techniques available for each area of the body.

Here’s to your health!

Hi, my name is Kalidasa, the developer of Self Adjusting Technique, or SAT. I am a naturopathic healer and yoga instructor. In my work my aim is to assist people in being able to take care of their own health at minimal cost. I developed SAT for myself, and found it to be of great help to my clients and friends.

I wanted to make this system available to everyone. My new DVD covers some of the best techniques for the most common adjustments needed. Check out my website at http://www.selfadjustingtechnique.com You’ll find more information all the time. And you can download my free article on how to adjust your neck as a great way to get started!

Who are your customers? It is a question I often ask new clients. Can you categorize each of your customers into one of the following categories?

Most Valuable Customers (MVC)

MVCs are customers who generally give you most of their business now. “You want to retain their business, reward them for their loyalty, and make certain they receive the highest level of service. Train your people to recognize them, understand their value to the company, and anticipate their needs.”

Most Growable Customers (MGC)

These are the people that do business with you from time to time and are the most likely to become MVCs. They are more difficult to recognize but have huge potential for growth. With some targeted effort you can convert them into MVCs.

Below Zero Customers (BZ)

This group of customers you know well. They demand the most attention and product the least amount of profits. Some only come in when you have a large sale and then go to the sale table. Develop strategies to recognize them and automate your interactions with them. Free up your time for your MVCs.

Internal Customers

Your internal customers are those who work for you and/or with you. It is important to have an open positive working relationship with each of these customers. They determine the effectiveness of the work you do. And they largely determine you overall success by their effectiveness and dedication to your business. Cater to your customers needs whenever you can.

External Customers

Your external customers are your potential customer, those that serve your business (deliver person, service person) as well as your current customers. Know that each contact they have with your business is an opportunity for marketing your products and services. Make sure each contact these customers have with your business is positive. You never know who’s watching and talking about you.

Do you have a separate plan to market to each of these customer groups? If not, you are leaving a fortune on the table for your competition to come a take! It’s no different than leaving something expensive and desirable in your car and not locking the door or rolling up the windows. And it is easy for your competition to come in and gather up those customers that you are neglecting.

Consider this: the need for customer oriented pricing is growing.

How are you treating different customers differently?

“On average, you have a 60 percent to 70 percent chance of doing business again with a current customer, a 20 percent to 40 percent chance with a former customer, but only a 5 percent to 10 percent chance of ever doing business with a non-customer.”
-Steven Yanovsky

Where do you spend most of your marketing dollars? Is it on getting new customers? Or former customers? Or non-customers? Yes, you need to spend some in each of these categories but you need to spend the bulk of your marketing dollars on your current customers or most valuable customers!

The most important marketing question to ask yourself, it turns out, is: “How am I treating my different customers differently?” If you want to grow your business consider how you treat your customers.

Are you looking to inspire your mind on a daily basis? Are you looking to try to improve your mind without cutting into your daily schedule?

Do not worry, you can now get self-help audio books. What is an audio book you may ask? It is a book that someone has read and recorded their reading. Therefore you can listen to them reading the book!

If you own a modern day house you probably have a computer and a MP3 player, both are common items today. There are a couple of benefits from audio books rather than regular books. Some of these are:

-You are able to hear the book. Now you don’t have to drop what you are doing so you are able to read the book. You can now clean the house, play with your kids, take a walk or a drive, and still be able to be listening to the book. This will take away all reasons why you are unable to read the book. There is no ends to the self-development you can now have!

Another positive to audio books is that most of the top downloadable audio books are actually cheaper than there hard copy books.

Let’s talk a little more about the experiences I have had with internet marketing online. In the interest of saving you some of the anguish I have had trying some of these methods. I am assuming you have an affiliate program that has given you a link and you are wondering how to market it. The first thing you may want to do is buy a domain name and forward your affiliate program link to it. Even better if you have a blog. Marketing your blog url is liked much more by the search engine spiders.

Safe lists

One of the first things I was involved in was safe lists. These are little groups of people that agree to receive emails from each other about affiliate programs they are in. There are literally thousands of them out there one can join for free. It then becomes a game of ” Hey you join my program ” and then they reply with ” No thanks, I have a program but hey you join mine “. Well you get the picture here. Unfortunately I can’t say I achieved much results in the years I used them or that this is a very effective way to find sign ups for your program. The other annoying thing is you have to agree to receive email ads from others and everyday you wind up clearing off hundreds of emails from your email account. If you are smart you can collect email addresses from the ads you receive and strike up business friendships by inquiring about other people’s programs. This takes longer but is much more effective than shooting out email ads about your program everyday.

Traffic Exchanges. Manual And Autosurf

These are websites that show your site to others as you view other sites. This is real traffic to your site but I would say manual exchanges where a person actually has to be there and view your site are prefered. This ensures they at least view your site for a time. Trafficswarm is the most effective one I have found simply because of it’s text ads, the size of it’s overall network, and it’s search engine aspect which I feel produces targeted hits. I have gotten signups from them in my programs.

I would say stay away from these autosurf sites where you can leave the room or take a nap and it surfs itself racking up credits for you. These autosurfs where you can earn money tend to be scams and the site simply disappears when they have suckered enough people into buying. Then they open up under another name. DO NOT PUT ANY MONEY IN THESE! You may win for awhile but eventually you will lose it.

Pay Per Click Search Engines

Of course the biggest and most well known is Google adwords. What you do is bid on keywords that are frequently searched in Google. Others are also wanting these keywords so the more you are willing to pay the closer to the first few pages you will wind up when a search is done. You only pay for actual clicks from actual visitors so these are targeted hits. It can be very expensive with Google or any of the big search engines so set yourself a budget.

A better route for you to go may be with some of the smaller search engines. Why,you ask? Because they have sign up incentives. They will offer you free pay per click money to get you going with them. Bonuses range anywhere from $5 to $550 in click credit. Even though these search engines are not as familiar they still will produce targeted hits to your site although at a slower pace than the big guys. To find these simply do a search in Google and punch in ” free pay per click money” or anything along those lines. Meteor surf, Search post and Mammoth search are a few that offer money that I have tried with favourable results. Using a keyword search tool first to figure out what people are searching is wise.

Internet marketing is a big topic so I intend to write another article on this in the future so stay tuned for part 2.
