In this series of articles I am going to talk about list building and why should you build a list for marketing. In particularly, why you need to think strategically.

Why Use a List

The most important thing to remember about List building is you are capturing leads and have therefore gained multiple repeat opportunities to sell to those leads. If you don’t capture your leads you are missing a massive opportunity.

List building is a strategic form of Internet Marketing. Don’t let that put you off. I do not mean it is difficult (once you know what you are doing it is very easy.)

But it is a longer term strategy in comparison to say, a pay-per-click Adwords campaign. With PPC the results can be dramatic and instant. With List Building we are looking over the longer term.

The key element is to build a relationship with your customers. To build trust, so that when you recommend a particular product or service your customers value your judgement and are therefore happy to make a purchase based on your recommendations.

I often use the analogy of Checkers and Chess.

Checkers is a fun, fast game that anyone can play, right? And once you have been shown the ropes you can get pretty good at it. Well, that’s the equivalent of an Adwords campaign in say, Google. Don’t get me wrong you need to be shown the ropes with Adwords or you can lose your shirt! But if you do it right it can be fast, fun and very profitable.

So, if Adwords is like a game of checkers, List Building is like a game of chess. You don’t just need to know how all the pieces move around the board and stuff…you need a strategy to win the game. So, in this article series we are going to look at how we do that.

Originally called Hark Fu Moon or Black Tiger System, Tiger Claw Kung Fu or Fu Jaw Pai was renamed by First Generation Grand Master, Wong Bil Hong in honor of his master, believed to be a Shaolin monk. At the time, there was Manchurian persecution of the Shaolin order so the name of his master was never revealed. Wong Bil Hong was not eager to share the knowledge he had learned and during his lifetime only ever took on two students. One of which was his nephew Wong Moon Toy who began his training in 1927. After the death of Wong Bil Hong in 1934, Wong Moon Toy moved to the US and taught Tiger Claw King Fu and then in 1957 he opened his school called the Chinese Youth Athletic Club. He passed away in 1960 after having named his successor, Grand Master Wai Hong. Wai Hong has expanded to teaching of Tiger Claw Kung Fu (Fu-Jow Pai Kung Fu) to become one of the most popular forms of Kung Fu in the world today.

There are five animals of the Southern Chinese martial arts and the tiger is the one on which this system is based. Developing the very yang qualities of aggression and fearlessness is an important aspect of the training and learning to attack like the tiger that attacks in a straight line and hardly ever retreats is a principal of Tiger Claw Kung Fu. Combined with fitness and agility which are always important, the speed and power of the blows make this an explosive system but, the main emphasis is on the hands and the rotating of the wrist. The Tiger Claw is when the wrist is drawn back, fingers spread with the tips locked and pointing forward to strike a blow while grabbing and twisting with the strength of a tiger. Apart from the rigorous physical training and the obvious health benefits, the spiritual discipline is vital and helps develop self confidence and a better more adjusted personality.

In 1974, a movie was made called Tiger’s Claw and starred martial arts stars Cliff Lok and Sek Kin. The fight scenes in the movie show the use of Tiger Claw Kung Fu and interestingly Sek Kin can be best remembered for his role as Mr Han in Enter the Dragon starring Bruce Lee. Tiger Claw was also featured in a TV series called “Vanishing Son” starring Russell Wong who was a student of Master Tak Wah Eng who often appeared on the show and has written several books on Tiger Claw Kung Fu.

Over the last few years martial arts has gained popularity in the west as never before and people of all ages are learning Tiger Claw Kung Fu as self defense and or fitness.

The true origins of kickboxing date back over 2,000 years but although classed as a martial art, Kickboxing Tournaments are relatively new and the sport of kickboxing was started in the US in the early 1970’s. Many American Karate practitioners were sick of the strict controls placed on all traditional forms of martial arts tournaments and formed a break away group and thus kick boxing came into being with full contact kicks and punches that were formally banned in martial arts competitions At that time many people were worried by the chance of high injury rates so protective clothing was added and safety rules were put into place. The kickboxing tournaments we see today vary in style and are closely related to their traditional martial art style.

People take kickboxing classes for a number of reasons and learning kickboxing techniques is a great way of protecting yourself. Kickboxing classes are becoming extremely popular for fitness and many personal trainers are adopting forms of kickboxing for their clients. Most importantly are those individuals to whom kickboxing is their sport and indeed to some that are totally committed, kickboxing becomes a way of life and entering kickboxing tournaments a personal challenge.

Preparing for these tournaments is heard work as fitness levels must be high. Not only does the artist have to deliver powerful kicks and punches but has to be fit enough to avoid their opponent and or recover from the impact themselves. It is necessary to build up muscle strength and tone the entire body with weight training, increase endurance with cardiovascular work such as running, skipping and jumping etc. Flexibility is all important not only when competing in kick boxing tournaments but to limber up and relax before hand to eliminate stress and strain and help avoid serious injury and also to cool down afterwards to avoid muscle stiffness.

Diet needs to be strictly adhered to. Low in fats, high in protein and the necessary amount of carbohydrates as fuel. Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables round off the diet. It is necessary for all of us to drink enough water and it is recommended that the average person needs about 8 glasses a day and those in high exercise groups such as the kick boxer training for and entering kickboxing tournaments will require much more. The martial artist must stay hydrated at all times for peak performance. If not the artist will suffer from muscle soreness, fatigue and will not recover as quickly. Junk food, alcohol and caffeine are a no go. As with all martial arts the power of the mind is all important. Controlling our emotions and concentrating on our movements can make the difference to winning or loosing. Keeping tempers under control and relaxing into our moves makes for stronger and more accurate kicks and punches.

Preparation for kickboxing tournaments depends a lot on the level of fitness and the determination of the martial artist and can take a considerable amount of training and indeed time.

We don’t think much about ordinary drinking water, but some studies indicate that many individuals are marginally to severely dehydrated. The human body is approximately 70% water so even a small deviation in this amount may have health repercussions.

Water is needed in every body function and its levels affect the smooth operating of all organs. The liver, kidneys, bladder and bowel all depend on abundant supply of pure water to function properly.

Water is also responsible for the levels of blood supply that courses through our veins and arteries. This blood supply, made up of red and white blood cells suspended in a solution called plasma is mainly comprised of water.

Another vital organ that requires a constant supply of nutrients, oxygen and blood is the brain. Lack of water in the body may result in headaches, the slow degeneration of system functions and decrease in mental alertness.

Bodily functions such as digestion, respiration and elimination also need significant amount of water to operate at optimum capacity. And lets not forget the largest organ of the human body, the skin. Without constant hydration the skin would become dry and age prematurely.

Health professionals indicate that a lack of water in the system can contribute to conditions such as poor functioning of the digestion tract, muscle and joint pain, stiffness and constipation, to name a few common problems.

Adequate hydration can promote better health, and in turn longevity. The amount of liquid consumed varies with individual body weight, but a rule of thumb is 3-4 cups of liquid for every 50 pounds of body weight per day. Liquids can include herbal tea, juice, soups and of course water.

Consume the best quality water you can obtain and store it in good quality plastic or glass containers, your health and wellness will be improved.

Previously, I looked at how the better manufacturers were creating what they call ‘discretionary weight’. That is weight that can be saved from one area of the golf club and then placed in another area that will help the golfer hit the ball straighter, further, more often.

The top brands invest lots of R&D dollars into experimenting with materials, design and the manufacturing process to try and find ways to deliver great shot making solutions for you in golf clubs with a great feel and quality finish.

Of course different manufacturing operations and different materials will have a real impact on the cost to produce. Irons that are ‘cast’ - where molten metal is poured into ‘dies’ - are much easier to manufacture and involve less steps and therefore cost less to make.
