Choose The Right Wick For Your Candle

Today’s article will address how to maximize the burn performance ratio per hour of burn of your hand poured candles. Huh? what did he just say! A geek can make anything sound boring and complicated.

Candle making isn’t complicated at all, but there are some tricks to making your home-made candles burn better. One important thing that you can do is select the correct kind of wick. There are wicks for tea lights, votive candles, and various size containers. You really need to select the right size of wick. Now, of course the wick has to be tall enough! I am talking about width.

The size of the wick is not determined by the height of your candle, but by the width of the container. The rule of thumb is the wider the container, the thicker the wick.

Thin wicks absorb less liquid wax, therefore produce less vapor fuel and a smaller flame. A thicker wick absorbs more wax and produces a larger flame. This becomes important when your container is wide. A larger flame produces a more even burn circle out towards the edge of the wide container.

When you purchase your wicks, they should be marked with the recommended container size. If they are not, compare the options that you can find. Containers in excess of 3.5 inches should have the thickest wicks. Containers between 2.5 inches and 3.5 inches should have a medium sized wick. And, jars less than 2″ need only the thinner wicks. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have thicker wicks in smaller jars, but they will burn off the wax more quickly.

No matter what container or wick size you choose, it is also very important to center the wick as perfectly as possible. My supplier provides a measured “target”. I place the candle (this works best with glass jars) on the target so that the perimeter of the candle matches one of the rings. The center dot in the target then matches the exact center of the jar. This is more accurate that eyeballing it. Then, use a popcicle stick with a small hole in the center to hold the wick while you pour and while the wax cures.

OK, time to apply what we have learned about burn performance theory! Just apply the rules of thumb and have fun!

Bride Ukraine – How To Integrate In The New Society

Many international marriages fail because the two parts refuse to understand the specific cultural characteristics of their partners and become active members of the new society. Try to consider the advice below.

In Ukraine the tradition says that the bride moves to live in her husband’s house. Today many families share apartments even before the marriage and it is hard to say that traditional patriarchal relationships still play any role. Today the style of living and the decisions made by the young couples are dictated by other factors which unfortunately are hard to be skipped.

No matter whether your wedding ceremony has taken place in your country or in Ukraine, it is logical after the end of the honeymoon for you to go back home and continue with your job-related activities. The other version of this story is to try to find job in Ukraine but in most cases this is waste of time and efforts. The standard of living there as you have already noticed is lower compared to that in the western countries. You will seem overqualified and demanding too much money for a job that could be done by a local person who may not have your professional qualifications, but will receive one tenth monthly payment of what you have requested.

You will have two options, either to stay in Ukraine accepting the lower standards or take the plane back home and return to the life you know. Do not be afraid that your bride will refuse to leave her family. The lady who has taken the decision to marry a foreigner knows perfectly that she should leave her families, friends and everything she knows and follow him. She would do it and will stay with her husband even if he says that he is leaving for the Moon!

The alternative to you working in Ukraine is your wife staying in your native country. Ukrainian brides are very energetic people. They will love to settle and look after the household but on the other hand they would also love to have something on their own and contribute, even with small amount of money to the house.

While you go to work and meet people or deal with specific problems your wife will stay home and perhaps this will make her feel a little crazy. Loneliness is not happiness. Try to find something for your bride, help her integrate to the new environment.

If your bride speaks your native language, you can encourage her to enroll in courses – yoga, dances or crafts. There she will learn new things and in addition she will meet people with a similar interest among which she might find good friends. If she does not speak anything else but Ukrainian and Russian, the best thing is to start courses in the local language. She might have learnt a few phrases from you, but the professional courses are adding grammar to the vocabulary and usually you will see an improvement in less than a week.

Finally, introduce your bride to your friends. Probably they have girlfriends, sisters or wives and these ladies could lend hand to your bride. They can show her around when you are at work and even help her start a job somewhere is she feels like ready and willing to work.

God Is Always With You - Discover How You Can Become More Aware Of God’s Presence

You can’t surprise God. He knows you inside out. There is nothing that He doesn’t already know about you. There are no secrets with God; everything is already out in the open.

Psalm 139 tells you that His eyes are always on you, that His thoughts are always directed towards you and that He is always with you.

The Bible also says that God’s angels watch over you, all the time. That means that you are never alone. You may not always believe it, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not true.

When Jesus said that He would always be with you, He meant it. He said that He would never leave you or forsake you.

If God is truth and speaks only truth that means that Jesus is with you all the time and that the angels really do watch over you.

Stop and think about that for a while.

What difference would it make to your life if you really believed it?

God is waiting for you to wake up to the fact that He is with you.

He’s waiting for you to recognise His presence. God wants you to stop long enough to have a conversation with Him. Did you know that you can talk with God anywhere?

There’s never been a better time to get to know God and spend some time with Him. He’s waiting for you to recognise His presence and initiate a conversation.

If you want to be more aware of His presence

  • practise being more heavenly minded
  • focus your attention on Him at different times throughout the day
  • Feed and nourish your soul with thoughts of God

Living in God’s presence is His gift to you.

Talk with the Father throughout the day and make Him your main focus. If you’ve been blind to His presence, ask Him to open your spiritual eyes and help you to be more aware of His presence in and around you.

"When I walk by the wayside, He is along with me. When I enter into company amid all of my forgetfulness of Him, He never forgets me. In the silent watches of the night, when my eyelids are closed and my spirit has sunk into unconsciousness, the observant eye of Him who never slumbers is upon me." Thomas Chalmers

Remember that the Father is always with you.

The more time you spend with Him, the more you’ll become aware of His presence.

Ask God to give you an increasing awareness of His presence - He doesn’t have any favourites and He wants to be known.

Massage Therapy and a Healthy Heart

An effective way to keep your heart healthy is to reduce your stress level by relaxing. I know what you’re saying, ‘How can I relax when I have to deal with traffic, deadlines, work 12 hours a day, and live in -20 degree weather?’ My stress level just rose when I wrote that sentence!! Take a deep breath and read on. You’re about to become…..RELAXED.

One of the best methods to help you become relaxed is to receive regular massage therapy sessions. Anyone who has had a massage will tell you that it feels great. After a treatment, the stress, tension, aches and pains (sometimes unknown before the massage) melt away leaving a more relaxed and healthy individual. There are, however, many more reasons to receive a massage treatment.

Benefits of Massage Therapy include but are not limited to the following:

•Helps to prevent injuries, and the build-up of stress and tension

•Helps to improve and maintain your posture

•Strengthens your immune system

•Relieves tension, stress and clears your mind

•Relieves stiff joints, and tired, aching feet

•Relieves sore and stiff muscles and speeds up recovery from injuries

•Strengthens muscles and connective tissue

•Helps to keep muscles flexible and pliable

•Relieves restlessness and insomnia

•Promotes a sense of well-being

•Relieves pain

•Helps with digestion and relaxes abdominal muscles

Keys to making sure you are completely relaxed before, during and after your massage:

1. Leave for your appointment with plenty of time to spare. This means take into account traffic, transit delays, and other last minute details that need to be finished before you head out the door. There is a huge difference in how our body responds when we rush to an appointment, compared to when we take our time and arrive relaxed.

2. Arrive early. When you arrive a few minutes early, you have time to sit down, fill out any necessary forms and breathe before the massage. It makes the session much more enjoyable when you are calm from the start.

3. If there is any area of the body you wish to not have treated, notify your therapist right from the start. This way you won’t have to worry about it and you can just enjoy your massage.

4. Inform your therapist if you are too cool or too warm. Your therapist can adjust the temperature to meet your needs by either removing a blanket, or applying a heating pad or table warmer. It is your session and to make the most of it, you should be comfortable.

5. Inform your therapist if the pressure is too hard, or not deep enough. Don’t be shy. Your therapist will appreciate your request and can easily modify the pressure.

6. Drink plenty of water after the session. Massage therapy increases circulation and flushes out lactic acid and toxins. Water aids in the removal of these toxins from the body.

7. Try to schedule enough time after your appointment to leisurely make your way to your next activity. It is not very relaxing if you have to get dressed and run out the door.

8. Take an Epsom salts bath. Adding 1-2 cups to warm bath water helps you to de-stress and sleep soundly!!

Ahhhhhh. Just thinking about it has allowed you to relax. Your heart thanks you.

Types of Scales in Market Research

The measurement of marketing phenomenon is fundamental to provide meaningful information for marketing decision making.

Measurement transforms the characteristics of an object into a form that can be analyzed by a research. Normally, scales are used to measure response and classified into following four categories:

1. Nominal

2. Ordinal

3. Interval

4. Ratio

1. Nominal:
A nominal scale is one in which numbers are only used as labels and have no quantitative or numerical significance. Variables such as sex, geographic location, occupation, religion, brand awareness are studied under nominal scales.

2. Ordinal scales:
Ordinal scales are used to measure attitudes, preferences, occupation, social classes etc. Ordinal scales help to place different entities like objects, individuals or responses in relative position with respect to a particular aspect.

3. Interval scales:
This scale is used to measure common statistical measures such as range, standard deviation and correlation. A researcher gauges preference, liking or importance of a particular aspect of brand on a continuous basis and distance between one point of scale to another is the same.

4. Ratio scales:
These are the most powerful of the above scales. Unlike interval scales they have a zero point. They can be used for all kind of statistical calculation. They are used for variables such as age, number of customers, sales, costs, height, length etc.

Selecting the appropriate scale to use:
Before finalizing on the scale usage, it is advisable to consider the following aspects,

1. Type/details of information required.

2. Time and cost constraints.

3. Literary level of target respondents (for easy communication)

4. Stimulus characteristics

5. Analysis methodology to be used

6. Past experience to be used

7. Rural vs. urban context

8. Expected and desired response

Wedding Gift Ideas

Weddings are becoming more and more expensive with more and more accessories and introductions to the traditional style. Planning a wedding can be as thrilling as the day itself, planning the dress, the food, the cake, the venue and all the wedding gift ideas can be fun and fulfilling.

Traditionally gifts are given to the bridesmaids and pageboys however more and more couples are also putting together wonderful wedding gift ideas for the parents to show their appreciation for all the help they have given and to welcome them to the family.

If you are looking for wedding gift ideas for the parents of both the bride and groom it is probably best to try and find something unique and special, something they will treasure. These wedding gift ideas do not have to be expensive they just need to be meaningful.

A hand written poem or special note is something that is personal and individual, if poetry is not your thing then you can always find someone to write this for you. There are many places on the internet where you can provide personal information about who you want the poem written for and they will create a personal poem customised for the person you choose in mind.

Usually the bridesmaids will receive a piece of jewelry however there are many wedding gift ideas you could choose from. Try to match the gift with the theme of the wedding, for example, if you have a beach wedding you could present your bridesmaids with a beach towel or a book to read after the event.

If you are a guest and are looking for wedding gift ideas for the bride and groom, first check if they have a wedding list, this is a list of all the gifts they would like so that they do not end up with 10 toasters or kettles. If you are looking for more personal wedding gift ideas for the couple, depending on your relationship to the couple about to be married the choices could be endless.

A bride once told me the best gift she ever received on her wedding day was on from her head bridesmaid (this is usually the brides best friend) she had made a scrapbook of all the times they have spent together from school up to the hen night, filling the book with photos and quotes really made it personal and special.

Who ever your wedding gift is for it is worth taking the time to look around to find something suitable, there are many resources available including magazines, the internet can also provide you with a huge selection of wedding gift ideas, both traditional and personal

Remember to set yourself a budget, once you start to look it is easy to get carried away and spend a lot more money than you had intended, although what ever the cost the feeling of giving someone a special gift is priceless.

5 Steps to Design Your Own Website

If you’re new to the world of web design, then designing a website for business or personal reasons might seem like a daunting task. Fortunately, there are many resources and tools online today to help you get a website up and running quickly.

Outlined below are five steps to creating your own website.

1. Decide on a Website Theme

Choose a website theme that will flow with your business or personal goals. If you’re selling photographs, choose a theme that fits well with photographs. Perhaps you’d like a website that offers training in a particular field or that provides useful information or services in fields such as health, insurance, marketing, finance, family, home and garden, web design, etc.

Use search engine optimization tools such as Wordtracker.com to determine popular keywords in your field. This will help you narrow your theme and find a niche market. The more specific you are, the more likely you’ll reach your targeted audience.

2. Choose a Domain Name

You can visit almost any web host to find out what domain names are available. Your domain name is the web address people will type in to find your website and it is completely unique to you. It could end in .com, .net, .org, or a variety of other suffixes.

Example: www.domainsitings.com

Choose a domain name that meets the following criteria:

*Not too long.
*Easy to spell - even for kids.
*Simple and easy to say.
*Fits your website theme.
*Easy to remember.

Remember, your domain name will be used in all advertising campaigns whether in print or online, so keep it simple.

3. Choose Web Hosting

Web hosting is a must for a website. This is the “web space” you’ll buy so your website can appear on the World Wide Web. You can choose from thousands of web hosts today, but be aware of the pitfalls if you choose the wrong host. Choose a web host that is dependable, affordable, offers excellent customer service, and offers the features you need for your website. Free web hosting services are available if you’re starting a personal website, but are not recommended for business websites.

Be aware that not all hosting services offer special add-on features such as PHP or MySQL capabilities. Not all hosting services offer a reliable control panel for site management and following your website’s visitor statistics. So, be sure to choose a web hosting provider that offers what you need for now and future growth.

4. Design Your Website

Once you choose a domain name and secure web hosting, it’s time to design your website. You have two options: a) Learn web skills such as HTML and PHP so you can design your own website. b) Hire a web designer.

If you choose to learn web design, there are many tutorials and courses online to help you learn. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars taking a college course. Or, you can find a website that has the same features you want and ask who designed it. This will help you find a dependable designer who already has the skills needed for your project.

Either way, determine what type of programming language you will use beforehand. This will be based on the features your website will have.

5. Get Your Website Noticed

It’s time to promote your website. You can promote in many different ways: search engine optimization, paid search engines, free search engine submission, e-zine advertising, and even off-line advertising. Include your website address on everything you print such as business cards, newspaper ads, letterhead, envelopes, etc.

Probably one of the most effective ways to promote is by adding content articles to your website. Articles get noticed by the search engines because they are informational and useful. The more information you offer, the better your search engine rankings will be. If you sell insurance, write many articles about insurance for your website or hire a writer to write them for you. Whatever your theme, provide plenty of content for your users.

Use these five steps to get your website going. You’re on your way to Web success!

Self-Help Audio Books Offer 7 Jumpstart Titles To Perk Up Your Mind

Self-help audio books have been silently tuning up the minds of people around the world for many years. These days, superfast technologies allow you to comfortably download audio books within minutes and start your self-help audio books “mind massage” on the double.

That is if you’ve paid attention to the food-for-thought your mind’s been grabbing and chewing on from what’s out there.

Do you think many people take notice about what gets into their minds? And do you think many of them take control of how their mind processes it towards a better outcome?

That’s where self-help audio books play a significant role. Because they can provide you, the listener, with better-quality input and how-to ideas to overcoming challenges. You just simply never know what new doors open when you download MP3 audio books with better food for your thoughts.

After all, the mind is the single most significant cause in shaping who you are and what you do as an individual.

If your mind is overall upbeat and resourceful, you have the core building blocks to becoming an “improved you” as opposed to having a widespread down-the-slumps thinking.

In contrast, a negative-mind environment unnecessarily increases the likelihood of you spending mega efforts on doing anything in life. Analyzing the lives of some of the most notorious people in the world reveals that they always fed their minds with negative thoughts.

You’ve heard this probably million times, haven’t you?

When you look around at examples of successful people today you’ll notice they’ve taken a good chunk of time to work on improving their minds. Scores of them have used any help they could put their paws on. Self-help audio books recordings are among them.

The question that pops up is this: “Are we born with positive or negative minds?”

What’s your answer to that question?

Research suggests that we develop our minds by what we feed them with. Stuffing “the negative” into our minds repeatedly results in cultivating negative views and eventually negative actions.
So, if you want to build creative ideas and views, it simply makes sense to always seek and get the right information into your mind.

The most common way to do this is to select the right books to read.

Sadly, though, who’s got the time today to read lots of books regularly?

We barely have the time to read the newspapers and magazines while gulping down our breakfast, lunch or supper. And guess what? Most newspapers only end up giving us bad-‘n-sad news that further swells up a negative state of mind.

So, are you up to getting positive and helpful information without having to scrape extra time to do that?

Look into the self-help audio books. They are popular because they are helpful and they fit people’s schedules without radical adjustments.

Why Homemade Dog Food May Save Your Dog’s Life

The recent dog food and pet food recall that has claimed the lives of dogs across the United States as a result of eating contaminated commercial dog food tainted with aminopterin, a rat poison, and melamine, a chemical used in making plastics and fertilizer. As a result many dog owners considering homemade dog food as a safe and nutritious alternative for their dog.

In a recent news article, a law professor states that little change is anticipated ( in the dog food industry) after the current onslaught of dog food recall news and attention subsides.

The probable reason for this conclusion is that there are insufficient financial resources and manpower to effectively monitor and regulate the dog food industry. You can’t trust the dog food industry to watch out for your dog and the government is not your answer either.

This is unfortunate. The dog food industry was born in postwar America to meet a need….the need of business interests to recycle slaughterhouse and industrial waste. This refuse had potential uses as fertilizer, landfill and such, but a more profitable horizon existed in the packaging and selling this “junk” as food to unsuspecting dog owners. It is now a common misconception that your dog can not maintain a healthy life unless he is fed commercial dog food. Nothing could be further from the truth.

To save your dog’s life, you may want to consider making your own homemade dog food. This is one of the best ways to guarantee your dog a healthy and safe diet.

Just glance at some of the regular ingredients delivered by rendering plants to commercial dog food manufacturers in the Unites States, Europe and worldwide.

• Euthanized dogs -Toxic chemicals such as Sodium Phenobarbital, the euthanizing agent injected to kill dogs daily at dog shelters. (This comes with the euthanized dog who is ground up at a rendering plant to be added to dog food. The dog may still be wearing a flea collar and be in a plastic bag when rendered )

• Blood

• Feathers

• Undeveloped eggs

• Downed, dying, diseased and dead animals (Known as the 4Ds)

• Hooves, beaks, feet and hide

And a host of other unsavory, unhealthy and toxic products that will slowly kill or euthanize your dog with every feeding.

So what’s the alternative? Well, if you are willing to spend a little time, and maybe even some money, there is a better way to feed your dog. You can halt the daily toxification, provide needed nutrition and increase your dog’s lifespan

What You Should Feed Your Dog

A variety of homemade dog food options are available for you to make your own dog food at home.
Some of these include completely natural dog food diets that are currently the rage with certain dog nutrition experts such as The Bones and Raw Food,( BARF) diet also known as the Biologically Appropriate Raw Food diet.

BARF Diets typically include a variety of uncooked foods such as :

• Bones with meat flesh attached

• Organs

• Muscle

• Eggs

• Fruit

• Yogurt

• Enzymes

• Herbs

• Vegetables

• Supplements and herbs

• Cereals

As to the preferred meat, there is none. BARF proponents use beef, chicken, goat, buffalo, whatever is fresh and available.

The same philosophy seems to exist for vegetables. Again the emphasis is on freshness, availability and variety.

While anecdotal tales of remarkable results are reported daily by BARFers, some veterinarians have found that BARF diets can be deficient in certain required nutrients. The inability to qualitatively analyze each prepared meal may account for these research results.

Vegetarian Homemade Dog Food Diets

Dogs, while primarily carnivores are also actually omnivores. In the wild, 10,000 years ago, dogs would take down their prey, and eat not just the meat of the carcass but the contents of the stomach which included undigested grains, berries and grass.

This natural desire for a balanced diet suggests to many dog nutritionists that a vegetarian diet containing sufficient protein sources is desirable. The advantage of a vegetarian diet is that disease and other health related issues can be avoided as well. Additionally, the philosophical objection of vegans to killing any animal as a food source is accomplished.

Homemade Dog Food Vegetarian Diets include

• Bread

• Brown rice

• Sprouting grains

• Carrots

• Apples

• Dog biscuits

• Cottage cheese

• Eggs

• Lentils

• Baked beans

Make a Combo Homemade Dog Food Diet

• A Combo diet is in essence a blend of all philosophies and might include

• Meat

• Vegetables

• Eggs

• Brown Pasta

• Brown Rice

No matter which approach you choose for a homemade dog food diet there are a few pitfalls. One is the difficulty of preparing a properly balanced dog food diet with each batch.

The Whole Dog Journal states that a properly balanced dog food diet should include whole meat, vegetables, fruit, grain and high quality dietary fats.

Others suggest that the best alternative is to use a very high quality dog food that is natural, without preservatives, additives and the toxins that are found in many of the private and major kibble brands sold in retail outlets. These dog foods will typically cost quite a bit more than dog foods of lower quality, but guarantee a balanced diet for your dog .

If you do choose to prepare homemade dog food for your dog be certain to avoid certain foods which can be toxic and potentially fatal to your dog. These include but are not limited to avocado, raisins, grapes, and chocolate.

If the pros and cons, yin and yang, of the various approaches to making homemade dog food for your dog has your head spinning, don’t despair. I have been researching this field for years and learn something new daily that confuses me even more.

There is a good way to get some perspective on this.

If you decide on making your own homemade dog food there is a wonderful free primer online at http://www.pet-grub.com

Don’t be afraid to get started making homemade dog food if you don’t have access to every recommended ingredient. The improvement in your dog’s health by simply removing the toxins of his current commercial dog food and his new and improved healthy, nutritious homemade dog food will be worth getting started today!

How To Backup Your Computer Properly

Your computer likely cost you hundreds – maybe even thousands of dollars. That’s one thing that you’re sure to worry about if anything happens to the computer itself. However, there’s another cost that is far higher than a few hundred dollars – the data that is on the computer.

Depending on the type of work that you do on your computer, whether you have a home office, or just a personal computer, the data can be priceless. From digital pictures of cherished family events to years of financial records, you could lose everything with just one hard drive failure. Sure, it’ll be relatively inexpensive to replace the hard drive, but how will you replace the data that you’ve lost?

In fact, backing up the data on your computer is something that you should start immediately. After all, a power surge or failure could happen at any time, and this is a good way to be prepared. When you consider that 22 billion dollars will be lost due to data failure each year, having a good, solid backup seems like a good idea. Businesses that suffer severe data loss usually go out of business within the next year – up to 70% of them!

Besides immediately, when should you back up your data? The answer is “as often as is necessary.” If you add or update a lot of data every day, then you should probably be making a small backup of that information at the end of the day, and then doing a major backup at the end of the week.

If you have a small personal computer and you do not do very much each day, then your backup schedule does not have to be as strenuous. In that case, you may only need to back up the entire computer once a month, though you should always make sure that you have an extra copy of any new files when you add them to your computer.

What types of backup materials are best for you? This depends on how large your system is, and what you intend on backing up. CD-Rs can be good for short-term, or for backing up smaller files. These are very inexpensive discs, and you can fit 700MB of data on each one. However, if you are going to be backing up larger files, then you should look into another method. DVD+R and DVD-R discs are good for backing up files up to 4.7 GB. You can also use DVDs for backups that are up to about 8GB if they are dual-layer and you have a dual-layer DVD writer.
