How to Develop Great Presentation Skills - The Persuasive Presentation

Part of developing Great Presentation Skills is to understand the type of presentations which you intend to give. Is your presentation meant to educate, train, inform or persuade and make money?

In this article, I would touch on Persuasive presentations. I think this is the most important kind of presentation because it allows us to close that deal, get that budget we want, sell products etc. In short Persuasive presentations most of the time allows us to MAKE MONEY! Let’s look at the 5 principles of Persuasive Presentations

1) “For Every Action, There is an Equal and Opposite Reaction”
A persuasive presentation always comes with a competitive option. Don’t think that if you are selling an idea or getting a budget approved, there is no “competition”. As long as you are looking to change how the audience thinks or feels, you have entered the competitive world. With every persuasive presentation there are products, ideas, which if accepted, will prevent your audience from accepting yours.

2) A Persuasive Presentation should engage your audience, not dominate and overpower them.
You should not at your first slide come across as “hear every word, see every word and believe every word I say”. If that is the case the audience will automatically shut down. Remember, each and every person in that audience has a unique make up. To change their collective heart and mind you need to constantly read them, adjust your presentation pacing, tone and content for maximum impact.

3) Put Your Audience First
This tie in with the second point above. Before even developing your persuasive presentation you must totally understand your audience. Ask yourself questions like “What can I do to change their hearts and minds”, “What can I do to help them understand, motivate them, get them excited, get their trust etc”. Put your audience first. Start thinking how you can connect with them, not what to put on your first slide.

4) Target the Audience’s Decision Making Process
A persuasive presentation seeks to change how the audience feels and think. Hence it must be strategically planned and delivered so that you are able to touch the “nerve” of the decision making brains of the audience. You must be able to appeal to them so that they can be moved into action. Without understand of your audience decision making process, your goals and objectives of your persuasive presentation will not be realized

5) Persuasive Presentations ask for an Order.
All presentation must have a goal. A persuasive presentation is no exception. If your goal is to sell something to your audience, then you must ASK for an order at the end of the presentation. After appealing to their decision making nerve, asking for an order would allow you to make that sale! Many a times, presenters tell me that they are shy or afraid to ask. No wonder they do not meet their goals.

The Two Big Factors Of Selling On Ebay

We have all read the stories in the papers - there are thousands of people making a living or making a part-time income on eBay.

Today I’m going to talk about the two main influences of selling on eBay - and I will call this The Big Advantage and The Big Disadvantage.

Let’s talk about The Big Disadvantage first.

The Big Disadvantage

eBay is a place where bargain hunters go. Hence you may not be able to command a premium price for your products. It is easy to compare the prices of similar products in the eBay marketplace and get the best deal. This can create pricing wars which reduce your profits.

The Big Advantage

How would like to tap into some (almost) free advertising? eBay really allows you to do this. All you need to do is set up your auction and you can expect a flood of targeted visitors. All this is done hands-off. Millions of people scour eBay everyday for products, and instead of building a website up from scratch, you can leverage on eBay’s reputation and traffic.

One way to cut out The Big Disadvantage is to simply create a unique product. This has to be an information product, because it is the only kind of product that can be truly unique.

If I was searching for information on how to sell real estate, it’s unlikely I would only buy one book on the topic. I will buy several books to get more information. However, for physical products, I do not need to buy so many trampolines, refrigerators or tables.

One big advantage with information products which are digital is that they can be delivered immediately. The buyer does not have to wait for weeks to get his product or pay for shipping. And you can automate the whole process - the buyer pays and receives his download automatically. This can be done on eBay.

The Simple And Easy Guide To Ghostwriting And Freelancing Profits

There are many people who have gone through many online business guides and doubts about starting a business are starting to creep into their heads. Don’t fret! There is way to earn money online without starting a business, and that is through ghostwriting and freelancing.

Well there is a way to earn money online without starting a business, and that is through freelancing. I have been trying my hand in this and the profits are just great!

If you are good in writing, I suggest you take a look at this route of making money online. It is honest, and you are providing a service to many publishers who need services like this.

What you need to do is go to sites like guru.com and elance.com and bid for services that people require. Some may require you to write an ebook, an article or a report. You get paid between USD$100 to USD$250! The bidding system kind of works like eBay, only the system is reversed - the lower you bid, it is likely that you will get the project. As you build your positive feedback, your chance for a higher income increases as publishers trust your work more.

I recently wrote a short report for someone and got paid an easy USD$150. All this for only 3 hours of work. This means I got paid a staggering USD$50 an hour for just writing at the keyboard.

Imagine if you just find 10 projects a month, it’s not that difficult. You will easily pocket USD$1000 - USD$1500 a month. Finally, those English classes in college came useful after all!

Online FOREX Trading – This Simple Fact Could Make You Huge Profits

We are going to give you a simple fact here which many traders don’t understand why it’s so significant and never use it to their advantage.

If you do, then it could make you huge profits in online forex trading and ensure you never miss a major move again.

So here it is:

Most major trends start from new market highs NOT market lows.

Why is this so significant?

A major failure of many traders especially novice traders, is they always want to “buy low and sell high” or buy dips.

Of course, if they do this they will never catch major moves.

If most major trends start at new market highs then the way to make money is to “buy high and sell higher”

Most traders cannot do this:

They see a breakout from new market highs and think prices are now to high so they think “let’s wait for the pullback to get in”.

The problem is most of the time prices don’t pullback, the trader never gets on board and sees a trade make $10,000 or more and their not in!

Breakouts are simply one of the best ways to trade and on breaks of significant support or resistance the odds of the trend continuing are good.

You can therefore get in with the odds on your side, with clearly defined stops below the breakout.

Breakouts allow you to trade on confirmation and that’s why it’s such a great way to trade.

Yes, it can be uncomfortable as you won’t be in at the bottom or sell at the top, but you can’t do that anyway and you know the odds are on your side.

How to trade breakouts.

1. Look only for significant support and resistance that has been tested several times and preferably with months in between tests.

2. Trade only if prices close above resistance. Many times prices can spike through resistance in a day session and fall back, so wait for the close of US Trading.

3. Place your stop behind the breakout point, once the break is under way.

4. Do not trail up your stop to quickly.

5. If you are worried about short term volatility, buy at the money or in the money options to give you staying power.

6. Never predict a breakout. Only act on confirmation at the end of the day and before you take a position make sure momentum indicators point to further strength - An indicator such as the stochastic is useful here.

Breakouts are simple to understand, easy to trade, offer great risk to reward and will allow you to hit the major big moves that help yield the big profits.

If you think “buy low sell high can make you money” - Chances are it won’t.

However if you “buy high and sell higher” you could make some huge profits.

Build Traffic With a Blog Chain Letter

Most of us can remember at one point or another getting or hearing of a chain-letter. One of those letters where if you write this out 5 times, or make 5 copies of this and pass it on to 5 of your friends you’ll have something great happen to you.

They were all the rage when I was in middle school, then fell out of popularity in high school, and then back into popularity with the email blockbuster about how Microsoft would send you some crazy amount of money for every person in your in box you told about some letter going around that really didn’t even mention a product. That one always intrigued me, but come on, did anybody believe it? Some lawyer from Texas was quoted in it so we should all believe it. Do people believe lawyers in the first place?

Anyway, an new form of chain-letter has surfaced with the popularity of the blogosphere. It’s basically a letter telling you to do something and then link to 5 other people that you’d like to do the same thing. One of the most recent ones I’ve taken part in is writing 5 things you didn’t know about me and then asking 5 others to do the same. Hopefully my traffic will intrigue them to see what this post is that sent visitors their way and get them to write about it.

Now that one asked for me to do something. I was to write 5 things that I thought might be interesting for people to know and then ask 5 more people to do the same. One that was started back in March was similar only it didn’t need you to do anything. It just asked you to spread the indie virus and see the links fly.

See they can be simple or complex, but the key is that it gets more bloggers involved and knowing who you are, and will hopefully return some link love back to you by giving you credit either in the person that you directly link to, or maybe 2 or 3 people down the way that actually track the links back to see who might have started the whole thing.

It’s a great way to increase awareness of you blog, become an active member of the blogosphere, and maybe get a backlink or two and improve you SEO.

Collecting and History of Blue Willow China List of Companies That Produce

THE HISTORY OF BLUE WILLOW

I have seen credit given for the willow china pattern given to at least two different people. One would be Thomas Turner who is said to have introduced the famous design in about 1780. The original copper plate for his design was engraved by Thomas Minton and is still preserved at Coalport China. The most reported story says that the willow design was the creation of Josiah Spode, a derivation of an original Chinese pattern called Mandarin. Spode developed his willow pattern sometime around 1790.

The traditional willow design always features a large beautiful Chinese home with a willow tree, small bridge with 3 figures, a humble servants house at the foot of the bridge, a small Chinese boat & of course the famous love birds above the willow tree. The romantic lore of the design could have added to it’s popularity over the years.

The story goes something like this…….

Long ago, in the days when China was ruled by emperors, a Chinese mandarin, Tso Ling, lived in the magnificent pagoda under the branches of the apple tree on the right of the bridge, over which droops the famous willow tree, and in front of which is seen the graceful lines of the fence. Tso Ling was the father of a beautiful girl, Kwang-se, who was the promised bride of an old but wealthy merchant. The girl, however, fell in love with Chang, her father’s clerk. The lovers eloped across the sea to the cottage on the island. The mandarin pursued and caught the lovers and was about to have them killed when the gods transformed them into a pair of turtle doves. These are seen gazing into each other’s eyes at the top of the design. A lengthy and old Staffordshire poem of the pattern concludes with the verse: “In the oft quoted plate two birds are perceived, High in the heaven above: These are the spirits of Chang and Kwang-se, A twin pair of ever in love”.

Companies That Produce Willow China Due to Spode’s obvious success with the Blue Willow design, many, many pottery & china companies went on to produce some version of it. Here is a list of manufacturers that I am familiar with that produced or still do produce Blue Willow.

Adams Adderly Alfred Meakin Allerton Barratt Booths Buffalo (restaurantware & hotelware) Burslem Churchill Coalport Cuthbertson Homer Laughlin John Maddox & Sons Johnson Brothers McCoy Pottery Myott Made in China Made in Holland Made in Japan Maruta Moriyama Pottery (Japan) Norcrest Ridgeway Royal China Royal Doulton Royal Wessex Scio Pottery (Ohio) Spode Staffordshire Syracuse China(Restaurantware & Hotelware) Wedgewood Wood & Sons

VARIETY OF WILLOW ITEMS As the popularity of Blue Willow grew & grew over the years many companies begin to make a variety of merchandise to coordinate with the customer’s china pieces. You can find just about anything in Blue Willow including but not limited to: glassware, wallpaper, linens , tablecloths & towels, flatware & cutlery, picture frames, piggy banks, cookware, enamelware, fabric, tins, needlepoint pillows & kits, planters, candles, switchplates, items for bed & bath, soap dishes, even paper products including paper plated & napkins!

Besides numerous price guides written to aid collectors, there is a child’s story book entitled BLUE WILLOW by Doris Gates. You might enjoy recipes from The Blue Willow Inn Bible of Southern Cooking.

In 2005 there was even an animated short movie made in New Zealand that tells Blue Willow’s story of love & family betrayal.

The willow design is also made in red (sometimes called red transferware, or pink willow), green, brown & multicolored.

There are many Blue Willow pieces now being made in China. These are nice pieces to fill in your collection with & much more reasonable than antique or vintage pieces. There are sellers however that try to pass these newly produced items off as vintage or antique. Be sure you are buying from a reputable sellers. Also be sure what you are buying is actually blue willow. I have seen Flow Blue, Blue Onion, Blue Calico & other Blue Transferware advertised as Blue Willow.

The most valuable Blue Willow items are the early English, Staffordshire & Spode pieces. The Mid Century Made in Japan pieces are growing in popularity as well & can command a good price on unusual styles. There are quite a few restaurantware collectors out there too, so the heavy restaurant weight china usually does well.

I hope this has given you a little insight into collecting Blue Willow China ~ Have Fun!

Direct Marketing Vs. Branding, Which Is The One For You?

Today I’m going to talk about the two types of marketing and why one is better than the other, especially for the small business owner. This is really important to discuss it will affect your whole marketing campaign’s strategy and ultimately how well your business is going to do.

Theory remain castles in the air until they are put to the test and the results are shown in terms of dollars. The only real way marketing can be learnt is by going into the trenches and actually doing it in the real world. That’s why I don’t learning marketing in classes will help much, unless you apply them intensively in the business environment.

However, there is one kind of marketing that I firmly believe is more effective than all other kinds of marketing. And that is called direct marketing.

Direct marketing’s purpose is simple: to get the sale from a very targeted customer segment. It is as simple as that. Direct marketing is only concerned with getting the sale, rather than creating a subliminal message in people’s mind, which is what big companies try to do.

Using the definition earlier, we can cut out all TV advertising, most classified ads, radio ads, most magazine ads, newspaper ads and so on.

These ads do work sometimes, but more often than not, the results you get will not be worth the time and money. Big companies do it because they are more concerned about building their brand.

Direct marketing is only concerned about getting the sale, and ridiculous ROI, if you are so inclined. For most web businesses, this is the way to go.

Why Budget?

There has been a significant amount of talk recently about household debt, house prices, the ability to make mortgage repayments, the ever increasing ability of Australian consumers to keep spending.

On the 30th of March, http://www.theage.com.au ran an article stating that Australians borrowed at such a fast rate and that another interest rate rise was therefore inevitable. Data from the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) showed that total credit provided to the private sector by financial institutions rose by 1.4 per cent in February.

Increasing interest rates, higher petrol prices and a fall in housing prices has lead to a doubling of households struggling to meet mortgage payments. This further indicates the importance of completing a budget. If you are struggling to make mortgage repayments in a time of increasing costs, you ready need to manage how you spend your disposal income to ensure you stay in control of your finances and make your mortgage repayments on time in full.

People do not know how much they are spending until they really know how much they are spending.

What do I mean by this? Well people think they know where their money goes each pay period but when pay day comes around and they’re regularly struggling, then it’s obvious that they don’t know where they are spending their money. The only way to truly stay in control of your finances is to ensure you regularly budget.

Understanding how much you are spending and where you are spending your money is the first step to being able to save money. By regularly completing a budget you regularly understand where and how you plan to spend your money over the coming period. That way you can determine which areas of your spending can be better managed i.e. where you can save money.

If you can save money by budgeting, it means you can reduce your debt quicker and stay on top of mortgage repayments. Here’s an example of what I mean:

Loan amount-$300,000
Interest rate-7.99%
Loan term-25 years
Weekly minimum repayment-$533
Total interest payable over 25 years-$394,038

The table below indicates the time and interest saved by increasing the weekly mortgage repayments by $20, $50 and $100.

Increase weekly repayments by $20, Time saved-2 years, 6 months, Interest saved-$48,565
Increase weekly repayments by $50, Time saved-5 years, 5 months, Interest saved-$100,307
Increase weekly repayments by $100, Time saved-8 years, 8 months, Interest saved-$156,782

The table above proves that small savings per week applied against your mortgage can make a big difference to your ability to do what all Australians want to do, pay off their mortgage as quickly as possible.

This is all well and good, speaking about understanding your spending, increasing your savings, paying off your mortgage sooner etc but what if you have never prepared a budget before and don’t know where to start? http://www.easy-budgeting.com can help.

www.easy-budgeting.com has made the process of budgeting easy and possible for everyone. The web site offers a simple and easy to use 12 month budget model created in Microsoft Excel. You don’t need to be a computer wizard or an Excel expert, you just need to have the desire to control your finances.

The main feature of the 12 month budget model provided by http://www.easy-budgeting.com is the ability of the user to budget an income or expense item by completing just 3 easy steps. The user simply selects the start month, the frequency and the amount of the income and/or expense and the data for the 12 months is automatically generated based on the parameters selected.

Once you complete the 12 month budget, you may be surprised to see how much you spend each month and where you are spending you money and possibly how little you are saving.

Budgeting is a process which helps you control your finances so remember it is very important to make sure you are honest with yourself when you complete the budget process. Really think about how you spend your money and make sure you include all regular expenditure, no matter how small you think it is.

Here’s another example:

Daily lunch spend- $10
Days per week- 5
Work weeks per year- 48
Annual spend on lunch at work-$2,400

You buy a sandwich and a drink for lunch every day you go to work and next thing you know, you’ve spent $2,400 per year on eating lunch. You wouldn’t know about this spending unless you completed the budget process honestly and accurately.

Visit http://www.easy-budgeting.com for more information on the 12 month budget model.
