Reading for Success

The computing term GIGO (garbage-in-garbage-out) is truly a universal principle. In the computing world it means that if you put bad input into your computer you will get bad output. Now since this article is about success and positive thinking so let’s redefine GIGO to mean good-in-good-out!

Yes, just like the computer, if you put good input into to your mind you will produce good output. Do you go around reading all the bad news in the daily papers or the gossip in tabloids or do you deliberately feed your mind with positive inspirational material?

Highly successful people always maintain the habit of reading inspirational materials and listening to motivational tapes. These are the people who need less motivation than the majority of people who are failures but yet they are always determined to maintain a high level of motivation by deliberately keeping their mind positive.

As Zig Ziglar once wrote, the drive that takes men to the top is a drive that feeds on constant nourishment and reinforcement.

A good way to go about maintaining a positive mind and a spirit of enthusiasm is to avoid watching TV or reading the newspaper first thing in the morning. Start your day by reading a good motivational book or a spiritual book like the Bible or Quran. This will set up your day on a positive note.

Next try to focus on the positive side of life rather than the negative. This does not mean that you are not “realistic” as the negative people would like to couch their negativity in; but the fact remains that there is good and there is the not so good too. The wisdom behind focusing on the good side is that what you focus upon is what expands.

Which is better, focusing on the good and being grateful to God or remembering only the bad things and blaming the world for not making you happy?

Get your self good inspirational and motivational books and tapes and be determined to live a positive and successful life. You can program your mind for success through the reading of inspirational motivational books.

If you control your mind, you will breeze your way to success with less effort. Read good books and articles that will help you to stay motivated on your path to success. And remember: the reading and re-reading of a single volume has been the making of many a great man!

Learning Spanish? Here’s How to Make It Easier and More Fun!

Technological advances, growing internationalism and continuing immigration of Hispanic peoples to the U.S. and Canada have made learning Spanish as a second language ever more popular recently. If you are learning or have tried to learn Spanish, you know that at some point in time you hit flat spaces where your learning program slows down and your enthusiasm starts to wane.

Don’t let yourself get bogged down! Language learning can be and should be fun and exciting. This article explores some of the methods to liven up your language learning process, make it fun, exciting and easier.

Here are some techniques that you should consider:

1. Watch multilingual DVD’s. Find DVD movies, short educational films, whatever interests you, that have both subtitles and voice-over sound tracks in both English and Spanish. That will give you the option to watch it using the Spanish sound track with English subtitles, Spanish with no subtitles, English with Spanish subtitles, etc. This will give you a clear, repeatable personal experience with how information is imparted in the two separate languages.

See for yourself the truth in the old adage, “You cannot translate directly (word for word) from one language to another, but you can express the same ideas and information.” Get the “feel” and rhythm of spoken Spanish.

2. Get a personal trainer. Find an educated native Spanish speaker to tutor you. An excellent source is foreign students from Latin America who are studying in the U.S. You already know that they are educated, and as students they probably won’t be as expensive as professional tutors. Put up a “Spanish Tutor wanted” notice on the bulletin board at your nearest University. Note: Education level is important. Spanish speakers who haven’t graduated from “Colegio” (high school) may teach you bad habits and pronunciation.

3. Read bilingual books, magazines. There are many good books and magazines published in bilingual format; one page in Spanish, facing page in English. This is another excellent way to get into how things are said properly, in Spanish, as contrasted to English. And you can do this while reading interesting stories and articles.

4. Spend some time in a Spanish-speaking country. Even if it’s only a long weekend in Mexico, go somewhere where speaking Spanish is a necessity, not an option. This is one of the very best ways to not only learn but get motivated. If you cannot travel to a Spanish-speaking country, try making friends with Spanish-speaking people who live near you. Putting yourself in face-to-face situations that require you to use your Spanish, for real, make studying and learning Spanish come to life for you.

In summary, there are many ways to spice up your Spanish learning and make it more interesting, easier and fun! Whether you watch movies on multilingual DVD’s, get a tutor, read bilingual books or spend time in Spanish-speaking countries or with Spanish-speaking people, is not really important. Pick one or more methods that appeal to you and just stick with them. Make Spanish part of your life, enjoy yourself and keep on learning and improving.

Spinning and Handspun - What is it?

Spinning is the art of drawing out and twisting fibers of wool, cotton, flax or hair into thread, by hand. Spinning is also called hand spinning or hand spun. As the word suggests, hand spinning is done by hand without the use of a machine. Although there are many manufactured yarns that are considered hand spun, the majority of hand spun is done by an individual instead of by a company.

The idea of twisting fibers together to make a yarn that could be made into material has been around for almost 27,000 years. Archaeologists are still uncovering ancient fibers that were created by some form of spinning.

Most spinners today use spinning wheels or drop spindles to create their yarn. Many spinners began learning their craft or art by using a drop spindle. Some prefer to continue using their drop spindle, while others preferring to move into using a spinning wheel. After much practice, both are very productive means of spinning fiber into yarn.

Unlike days of old where people spun as a means clothing them and paying their taxes, today many people spin for relaxation. Spinning takes a great deal of practice before the spinner becomes proficient in the art or craft. After one has learned to spin, the act of spinning becomes relaxing. The drawing and releasing of the fiber into the spinning wheel or on to a drop spindle creates a rhythm which seems to promote a calming effect on the person spinning.

Spinning today is also a social event since the revival of spinning and weaving guilds that have sprung up through the country. Many social events for spinners are the workshops that spinners enroll in not only to fine tune their art or craft but also to be around other people who enjoy spinning. There are fiber fairs throughout the country that are open to the public. Another social event is the fiber bee, much like the quilting bees of days gone by, which allow spinners to get together. Both men and women spin today.

Hand spinning is also done for profit. There is much demand for hand spun yarn today as people who knit, crochet and weave enjoy this type of yarn for their projects. The price of hand spun is dependent upon whether the hand spun is done by a manufacturing company or by an individual. The type of fiber, the hours spent spinning and the region of the country will also affect the price of the finished product.

There are many spinning classes offered today. Some classes are offered through knitting stores or yarn shops. There are also classes that are offered through the local knitting guilds as well as through local weaving guilds. Some community colleges offer spinning classes through their continuing education classes.

Leslie Arnold has been spinning for more than 25 years. She writes on arts and craft related issues.

Book Review - Lady of the Lakes

Premise: Corryn has waited over a year to meet again the mysterious knight he saw near one of the cursed lakes. His own sad past has forced him to try such unusual means, and there are no guarantees of success. But when he once more meets the knight, the latter is engaged in combat, and despite Corryn’s attempts to help, the warrior is wounded and the infant in his charge stolen. Worse, the knight cares not for his help or is even willing to consider having him as a liege man. Yet Corryn forces his help on the warrior as the wounds knock the latter unconscious. As Corryn bandages the wounds and tries to make the warrior comfortable, he gets an unexpected surprise - and with that his life begins to take many unexpected turns.

Review: (This review is from an ARC copy - release of the book should be imminent.) A thoroughly enjoyable book. JC Hall has created a vibrant world full of magic, adventure, and intrigue. The high speech of the nobles will take a little getting used to and the introduction and instruction of magic/mental powers seems to come out of nowhere where Corryn was concerned, but aside from these two minor issues, the story was griping, the characters interesting, and made for a great ride. Delves deeply into honor, loyalty, familial duty, and burgeoning love. A great start to what promises to be a fun trilogy. I am expecting great things from Ms. Hall in the future.

Who Is A Ghostwriter, And Why Do You Need One?

A Ghostwriter is a writer who writes on behalf of someone else. The writings of a Ghostwriter get published in the name of the person who employs the Ghostwriter and pays him/her. Often celebrities and rich people employ Ghostwriters to fulfill their desire to emerge as a writer or get their autobiographies written in their own names. Names of Hilary Clinton, Magician Harry Houdini, allegedly John F Kennedy and most recently Madonna has come up as having used Ghostwriters to write their books. The reason for celebrities to take the help if Ghostwriters is, their lack of time to write, abundance of money to afford a Ghostwriter, and sometimes lack of skill to write in a professional manner. Most politicians also have their own Ghostwriters who answer their correspondences on their behalf mainly owing to their lack of time. They also write speeches for these politicians. Owing to lack of recognition and no entitlement to royalty on the sale of books Ghostwriters generally take steep one-time fees for their service. Some of the best Ghostwriters of the world are employed by www.ghostwriters.tk.

It is not always though that Ghostwriters do not get recognition. There are examples that the names of the Ghostwriters have been mentioned in some books on thanksgiving pages or even as co-writers. In these cases, where their contribution has been recognized, they cannot technically be called Ghostwriters, but rather collaborators.

It is also not always the case that one who employs a Ghostwriter does not have the talent of writing. Sometimes Ghostwriters are employed by established professional writers to get their work error-corrected and refined. Sometimes it is not merely refinement but entire books are written by Ghostwriters for established writers. One who corrects errors is an editor and all writers employ editors, but if someone refines the writing (by rewriting some portions) besides correcting errors, then that person is definitely acting as a Ghostwriter. Lack of time is again the reason for professional and established writers to employ a Ghostwriter or a team of Ghostwriters. For example Star Wars novel was the work of a Ghostwriter, so were many of the books of Hardy Boys Series (main author—Franklin W Dixon).

The 2 Dollar Bill, is It a Myth?

Everyone is very familiar with the different money bills we see regularly. When you enter a store you usually pay for your goods with cash if you don’t use your credit card. But what about the 2 dollar bill? This type of money bill is hardly ever used or seen vary rarely and because of that many stories have developed around this bill.

In spite of its relatively low value, the 2 dollar bill is one of the most rarely-seen denominations of U.S. currency. They represent only 1% of all notes currently produced.

This low production has inspired many urban legends. Some say the 2 dollar bill is not considered as being real money. For this reason people either consider it as being fake, or they will decide that it is so rare that they need to possess this bill.

In many cases the 2 dollar bill has become a collector’s item for the people who come across it. As a result the 2 dollar bill starts to disappear from the public sight.
It is only when a serious shortage of 2 dollar bills that the Federal Money Reserve will start printing a new batch. And because there are not many people using these dollar bills there is no real need to print out a large amount of 2 dollar bills.

the fact is Most $2 Bills are not valuable

The current 2 dollar bills are hardly encountered in circulation but they are too common to be valuable. The only $2 Federal Reserve notes that are collectibles
are special 2 dollar bills with the note “not put into circulation” and are sold through the B.E.P (Bureau of Engraving and Printing). Also Series of 1976 2 dollar bills
with a cancelled stamp are collectibles.

Other factor such as an interesting pattern in the serial number or there is a start in the serial pattern or the bill will have some sort of error (ink spill) can be considered as collectible. Other than that if you come across a 2 dollar bill you might want to hang on to it until you can exchange it at the bank, probably the only place where they will not look at you funnily!

Do You Know Your FICO

In todays world of credit the difference between having a good life and just living is a number. What number am I referring to you ask? A FICO score. In other words a credit rating. Or as they put it, your credit risk level. Do you know your FICO score? Most people don’t. It is a number based on your credit history. These numbers range from 300-850, higher is better and most lenders base approval on them. Anything over 700 means you have excellent credit and you can get whatever loan you want with lower interest rates and good terms. While a number lower than 500 means your in some serious need of help. Anything in between means you can most likely get credit but on the financial institutions terms.

You may have an excellent job, gone to a good school but if your credit shows that you don’t pay your bills and that you have alot of dept you’ll have a horrible time trying to get any kind of credit, be it a mortgage, a car loan, a credit card, any kind of insurance, or any line of credit for that matter. Even employers are checking credit ratings to see if you’re responsible or not. Looking to lease an appartment? Chances are the landlord will be pulling your credit report. Pretty intimidating when everything you work for is in a number.

Here’s a look at how lenders rate you:

Credit score:

720 - 800 Superb! You get what you want

700 - 719 Wonderful! You get top rates & terms

680 - 699 Good! You get good rates & terms

660 - 679 All right. You pay higher costs & rates

640 - 659 Okay score if good income

620 - 639 Weak. You need good income & some money

600 - 619 Poor. Pay higher interest and higher loan costs

580 - 599 Almost impossible without a large down payment or a co-signer

Under 580 Work on fixing credit without delay

Now you’re probably wondering who comes up with these numbers. The credit scoring method was created by Fair Isaac Corporation in the 1950’s and is available from the three major credit bureau agencies- Equifax, Experian and Transunion. The three scores are usually a few points different from one another so creditors usually take the middle score as your base line. FICO scores are calculated based on your rating in five general categories:

1. Payment history

2. Amounts owed

3. Length of credit history

4. New credit

5. Types of credit used

If having good credit is important to you and it should be, then knowing your FICO score is essential. Check your credit score once every one to two years or five to six moths before you plan on applying for a loan. If it shows that you have excellent credit, good for you keep up the good work. If your report shows that you have a poor score start taking measures immediately.

The best ways to improve your FICO score is to always pay your bills on time. Have credit cards but manage them responsibly. Having credit cards and making timely payments will raise your FICO score. Lenders see People with no credit cards generally as being higher risk than people who manage credit cards responsibly.

If you haven’t established any credit, here are a few things you can do.

1. Open a bank account. Don’t overdraw your bank account

2. Apply for a credit card. Avoid missing or being late on payments. That is a sure way to damage your credit rating.

3. Consider a secured credit card.

4. Set a budget so you know what you can afford.

5. If declined ask why so that you may fix any errors on your report or work on the reason why they declined you.

Keep in mind that if you have had past credit problems FICO scores don’t let that effect your score forever. Your scores will improve when recent good payment shows up on your credit report. It will show that you’re trying to manage your credit.

My Husband-Wife Has Just Died - Now What?

I am writing this from personal experience. I was married for 29 years to the same woman. It was a Friday morning when I kissed her goodbye and went to work at my job in advertising sales. I was at an appointment when I received a call from my daughter, aged 18, on my cell phone. She was crying and said that my wife had just collapsed in front of her in the living room right as they were talking. She had called 911 and the paramedics were currently working to save her. They were going to take her to the hospital, so I dashed out to my car and rushed over to meet her about half an hour away. By the time I arrived, my wife had passed away and I was a widower at age 55. She had been 54 and died from a sudden heart attack.

Now it was just myself and my daughter, for the first time since I could remember. Family and friends flooded over and spent the next week helping me make funeral arrangements and offering condolences. Weeks later, when the dust had settled and I returned to work, I took stock of my situation. Money was not an issue, I had a good job. She daughter was a sophomore in college and she was okay. But this article is not about me, it’s about you. Whether you have lost a loved one or not, consider the possibilities. I was relatively young and knew I could move on. But I’ve seen both sides of the equation. Some mourn and mope around for a decade. Others get back to a normal life in relatively short order. It all depends on your attitude.

How do you think your spouse would feel knowing you were lost without them? My wife always told me, if anything like this happens, remarry and be happy. Is that the way it should be? If you had a loving relationship, are you disrespecting them by doing what they asked? Shocking to some, I remarried within one year of my wife’s passing. My therapist told me to do what I felt, and not what was politically correct. There is no right or wrong mourning period. I was the type of man that needed a woman in his life and my former wife knew that to be true. No one past or present knew me as well as she did. So she gave me the freedom from guilt by telling me in advance to do what was right for me.

I had to ignore some taunts from some family and friends that thought I moved too quickly. But they could not know how I felt. Neither can your friends or family. Ultimately, it becomes your decision how to live your life after a death. You get to chose how to handle their affairs and how and when to grieve. Can you still miss them even after you’ve remarried? Of course, and your new spouse will understand. My wife lost her husband to a heart attack as well. She knows how much my wife meant to me and never chides me for bring up her name in conversation. She was, and still is, the mother of my only child. For that reason she shall remain in my world.

For you, the reader, I offer hope. The tragedy will lessen it’s grip as the days and weeks go by. The memories will always persist, but the pain ebbs and flows. Honor the departed by recreating a good life for you and the ones they left behind. That’s the perfect way to give them a lasting legacy rather than allow the event to tear apart all they built throughout their lifetime. You owe it to them and yourself.

How to Lessen the Pain of Doing Your Grief Work

Is the pain of grief wearing you down? Are you surprised at the depth of pain you are feeling? How have others been able to persist in such circumstances and do their grief work?

Grief work is a term coined by psychiatrist Eric Lindemann back in 1944 which highlights the fact that adapting to the death of a loved one takes much energy, commitment, and intense labor. The work of grief frequently entails both physical and emotional pain. And although the pain of major loss is inevitable, it can be controlled and in many instances reduced.

Here are six pivotal factors that will play key roles in how your grief work unfolds, whether it is prolonged, or becomes excessive. You cannot sidestep or ignore the pain, but you can clearly lessen its intensity.

1. Look for safe places and safe people. In times of loss we all need to find a safe familiar place to be and people who will let us be who we are at that time and not be over directing. Look especially for those who will accept your pain—as you express it—and not try to fix it. Stay away from toxic people who say the wrong things and add to your discomfort. If your home is constantly filled with caregivers, feel free to go to your bedroom or another part of the house to be alone and away from the constant buzz. These rest times are critical for the energy levels needed in mourning.

2. Take primary responsibility for confronting the pain. Even though you are deeply hurting, you are still in charge of how you grieve. Here are three essential steps: First, know that what you are feeling is normal even though you feel so out of control and helpless. You are not “losing it.” Second, and here is where your responsibility weighs heavily, reach out to someone you trust for support. Yes, we need each other and it’s ok to ask for help. Tell the person or persons you need them and specifically what you need. Thirdly, acknowledge when you have focused too much on your pain, and be willing to look for a quick distraction. It is okay and healthy to take a break from your grieving.

3. Refuse to let the reactions of others influence your normal response. After a period of a few weeks, you may have friends who are getting tired of your grieving. They may not want to talk about it or have excuses as to why they can’t visit with you. Accept this common response, even if it is from a good friend. Simply continue to grieve as you see fit. Never let anyone set a time limit on your grief. You will know when it begins to ebb. And, remember, there is a wide range of normalcy.

4. Rely on your spiritual roots. Turn to your faith tradition and seek the spiritual sustenance it provides. Cry out for the strength to bear this burden. Beg for the wisdom to choose the path to adaptation and reinvestment in life that is best for you. If you nurture your spiritual self, you can bear any burden and get through this demanding ordeal.

5. Accept reduced output and activity. Do not expect to be able to keep up with the usual pace you are accustomed to, especially if you have to go back to your 9 to 5 job. Mourning is hard work and saps energy at a fast pace. This is why self-care is so important. Force yourself to take a daily stress break where you lie down, put your feet up, and rest. Take short walks. Treat yourself very well every day as it is not uncommon for mourners to become so worn down over time to become ill.

6. Commit to using your grief to grow. Be open to reviewing your beliefs about life, death, and the meaning associated with your loss. Learn all you can about grief and coping with it. Beliefs have a powerful affect on everything we do, especially when mourning the death of a loved one. Look at alternative beliefs and weather they are more meaningful for you than those you learned from well-meaning authority figures early in life. These beliefs often need to be challenged, especially when it comes to grief.

You have the power within you to cope with your great loss. Always look for upside people and rely on them to help you cope with your loss. Remember: your thoughts create where you are going in your grief. Find a way to spark your courage. Courage crushes fear whenever you take action. Taking decisive action is what grief work is all about. You will prevail.

Jesus-only Cult Invades Mainstream Christianity

*Quote from a LIFE TODAY interview with James & Betty Robison, April 17, 2007 - Tammy Maltby, author of Confessions of a Good Christian Girl: “There is only one perfect one and that is our father, Jesus.” SIGNS OF A TREND: Is ‘Jesus-only religion’ spreading to mainline denominations? This article will provide supportive material (research, quotes from reputable sources, and physical examples) that quantify and define this shift in theology pretty clearly.

I see a progression in thought which has lead many Christians to a popular belief that Jesus, alone, is their God (a contemporary version of the old heresy of Modalism, where One person fulfills all 3 offices or ‘modes’ of the Trinity). Followers of this belief perceive that when they pray to the Father, they are in reality praying to Jesus in His capacity as ‘Father’, and they also see the ‘Holy Spirit’ as the spirit of Jesus - Therefore Jesus IS the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We have Christian churches [cults] which openly claim this as their belief system, such as the UPC (United Pentecostal Church), but my concern is that mainstream Christianity has also absorbed this theology to a large extent - without even being cognizant of the change, because it happens in such a subtle way. These churches would never SAY that they believe in anything but the traditional doctrine of the Trinity, but their actions speak otherwise.

Before I share the tangible evidence I’ve gathered, I’d like to encourage you to ask your colleagues and friends to watch for these things with you - especially if they attend different types of churches. The non-denominational/charismatic/ “community” churches seem to be the most obvious in their prayers to Jesus in Jesus’ name, worship songs that acknowledge Jesus as their God, etc., but, as you’ll see in the quotes given below, traditional denominations are ‘morphing’ into Jesus-Only churches as well.

1) *** There is evidence that people are switching from mainline denominations to non-denominational churches (many of which are Charismatic or Pentecostal). Also, significant numbers of new converts are being added to these non-denominational churches, which often display Jesus-Only traits. This hits mainline denominations in the pew and the pocketbook, creating a need to play ‘catch-up’. This could explain why mainline churches now offer a contemporary as well as a traditional Sunday morning service, where they can incorporate some of the contemporary worship music that has helped to make non-denominational services so popular.

Quote: Lambert Edwards Analytics: The U.S. Church Finance Market: 2005-2010, compiled on 4/1/2006: “Non-denominational membership doubled between 1990 and 2001, according to our analysis.” “We believe the notable success of non-denominational mega-churches throughout the country is supporting evidence of this trend. While church attendance at the average American church increased by ~12% between 2000 and 2005, average church attendance at mega-churches across the country increased by an astounding 57.3%.

2) *** Add to this, the resulting evidence that contemporary worship music now used in mainline churches has Jesus-only connotations:

Quote: Updated July 12, 2006 (first published May 30, 1997) (David Cloud, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, P.O. Box 610368, Port Huron, MI 48061, 866-295-4143, fbns@wayoflife.org;

“It is a strange but true fact that many Bible-believing churches that are strongly opposed to charismatic DOCTRINE AND PRACTICE are being influenced by charismatic MUSIC. In attending charismatic churches and conferences through the 33 years since I have been saved, in an effort to analyze this influential movement, I have observed that one of its key elements is rocky music… With the onset of the charismatic movement since the 1960s, which is basically the ecumenical branch of Pentecostalism, THE “JAZZED-UP HYMNS” HAVE GONE MAINSTREAM and have swept throughout much of the Christian world.

(Quote continued): THE “JESUS ONLY” MUSIC CONNECTION:

Many of the most popular “praise songs” today were composed by men and women involved with the Oneness Pentecostal movement, which denies the Trinity and which baptizes only in the name of Jesus. A recent article in Charisma magazine (June 1997) noted that “most popular praise anthems sung in charismatic and evangelical churches today were composed by Oneness believers.”

3) *** Examples of Jesus-only worship songs, used widely among denominational and non-denominational churches:

“Here I Am to Worship”:

Light of the World You stepped down into darkness (refers specifically to Jesus) Open my eyes, Let me see beauty that made this heart adore You, hope of a life spent with You

Chorus:

Here I am to worship Here I am to bow down Here I am to say that You’re my God (refers again just to Jesus) You’re altogether lovely Altogether worthy Altogether wonderful to me

King of all days Oh, so highly exalted Glorious in Heaven above. Humbly You came To the earth You created (Jesus is our Creator) All for love’s sake became poor.

Song: “And I surrender to your ways”

“ It’s all about you, Jesus. And all this is for you. For your glory and your fame. It’s not about me, as if you should do things my way. You alone are God, and I surrender to your ways. ”

– PASSION I Could Sing of Your Love Forever (disc 1)

FURTHER EVIDENCE: 4) ***Some of the highway billboards, especially in the Bible Belt, provide another compelling visual sign of the Jesus-Only trend. The slanted theology, hidden in their towering slogans, can have a subtle effect on one’s thinking, similar to absorbing subliminal messages or slowly being brainwashed. I’ve asked my son, who is an over-the-road truck driver, to take pictures of them as he travels around the U.S.! The effect is multiplied by bumper stickers, T shirts and other message-bearers that mobilize the movement toward Jesus-only religion.

5) ***Ironically, much of the programming on TBN (Trinity Broadcast Network) has a Jesus-only slant, which again provides a subtle influence, and would be a rich resource for examples of this theology. Please note the TBN “prayer of salvation” quoted in the excerpt from my book that follows - definitely Jesus-only, praying to Jesus in Jesus’ name!

6) ***A movie produced by a BAPTIST (mainline) church focuses on “Jesus only” Christianity, as noted by the MPAA: Facing the Giants - Rated PG for some thematic elements. reviewed by Christopher Lyon

“It’s almost unbelievable. A Baptist church in Georgia makes a feature-length Christian movie for the tiny amount of $100,000 and that film ends up getting released in nearly 500 theaters around the country… You might have heard about some of the controversy over the film’s PG rating. Apparently, the MPAA originally suggested that the rating had to do with the film’s focus on “Jesus only” Christianity.” 7) ***EVIDENCE that LINES ARE BEING BLURRED and the CHRISTIAN CULTURE AT LARGE may be unable to discern that a new theology is taking root: America’s Most Influential Black Spiritual Leaders: Published February 15th, 2007 by Editor in General News, Christian Research Net : *Oneness Pentecostal*and Word Faith teacher T.D. Jakes tops the list according to this report from the “Christian Post”. The report also notes that “Jakes was also named last year’s most influential Christian by The Church Report.”

2006-JAN-21: List of most influential Evangelical Christians during 2005: The Church Report Magazine announced their list of the 50 most influential Christians in America during last year. They compiled the list based on the opinions of visitors to their web site and of subscribers to their magazine. The top ten were: #1: Bishop T.D. Jakes of the Potter’s House in Dallas, TX…

Of the TOP 50 in 2006, 17 are regulars on TBN (Trinity Broadcast Network): Coffee Talk #77 November 21, 2002 By Rick Walston, Ph.D. CES.ColumbiaSeminary.edu

“Next, what are those TV Pentecostals? We’ve all seen them. In my humble estimation, so-called Christian television is one of the biggest culprits of “Pentecostal homogenization” in the minds of people. On TBN, all of the camps mentioned above are often represented. They even have Oneness Pentecostals on their programing! More than a few people have mentioned the irony of a TV program called “Trinity Broadcasting Network” having modalistic, Oneness Pentecostals on their programs.”

8) *** RELEVENT EXCERPT from PIVOT POINT, a creative nonfiction by Fern Holm “Possibly paving the way for a movement toward Jesus-only, Jesus-is-our-God religion, the evangelistic church at large has preached a gospel that has at least the potential to lead people to Christ alone. Some samples of the gospel message and the recommended prayer of salvation, publicly displayed on the website of each of these organizations, are quoted below.

AFLC: Association of Free Lutheran Congregations: To receive Christ as Lord and Savior right now, you might pray a prayer like this: “Lord Jesus, I come to You a lost and lonely sinner. I confess that only You can take away the burden of my sins. I believe You died on the cross for all my sins. Come into my life right now. Forgive all my sins. I surrender my life to You and want to receive You as Lord of my life. Please give me the assurance of the Holy Spirit that I belong to You. Amen.”

SBC: Southern Baptist Convention: “Salvation” - Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, sanctification, and glorification.

Salvation Army: “Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.”

BGEA: Billy Graham Evangelistic Association: “Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

TBN: Trinity Broadcast Network: Prayer of Salvation: “Dear Jesus, I believe in You. I believe You are the Son of God, that You died for my sins, and that You were buried and rose again as written in the Bible. I’m sorry for the things I’ve done that hurt You. Forgive me for all my sins. Come into my heart, take charge of my life and make me the way You want me to be. With Your ever present help, I renounce all my sinful practices of the past. Cleanse my heart with Your precious blood. Write my name in Your Book of Life. I confess You now as my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Thank You, Jesus! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

* Can you see the total focus on Jesus in each one, even praying to Jesus in Jesus’ name? Something is definitely missing in this circular prayer that seems to fold in upon itself. Jesus is “the Way”—not the Destination. An arrow, not a circle. There’s a mystery here, one that’s begging to be solved. Something is missing, but what is it?” — Excerpt from PIVOT POINT

*** In conclusion, when people make a conscious choice about their beliefs it’s one thing, but the evidence presented here exposes a subtle external influence that appears to be ever-so-slowly turning Christianity … in a direction it never planned to take.

*PIVOT POINT, a mix of creative nonfiction & poetry, challenges both traditional thinking and the cult it may have unwittingly produced: Jesus-only, “Jesus is our God” religion, now evident even in mainline denominations. A prophetic element is also present in the pages of PIVOT POINT, one that author Fern Holm believes could trigger ’the final revival’.

Fern Holm, Author of PIVOT POINT, a creative nonfiction [category: religion/cults] … To fill the time on my way to becoming a writer, I got married (I’m being flip), had two adventurous sons who now tower over me, worked as a kindergarten & elementary teacher, directed child care centers, and currently sell real estate - a skill which also comes in handy when marketing my book … So, can I interest you in a prime piece of literature?? :-)

*A note from Fern:… When people make a conscious choice about their beliefs, it’s one thing - but PIVOT POINT: “Is Jesus your God or the SON of your God?” exposes a subtle external influence that appears to be ever-so-slowly turning Christians away from the Father …
