Pity Party, Unacceptable Invitation

An unacceptable invitation
Is this pathetic pity party
To which I have been beckoned
Seduced and subtly summoned
With the sly play of emotions
An undercurrent causing commotion
An abuse of my love and devotion
An effort to evade and deny truth
To behave unseemly and uncouth
To justify one’s immoral actions
Unbridled tongue and loose lips
Not take appropriate accountability
For one’s brash quotes and quips
Impertinent, impudent, inconsiderate
Though most zealously irreverent
Quick however to deny and cloud
Issues needing most to be addressed
Instead the pity party celebrant
Prefers to cloud and hide in duress
Their means and method to woo you
Into a dark dungeon of imprisonment.
Clever, cunning, and callous are they
Though they are skilled in the play
Purporting, acting, showing otherwise
This all a large part of their guise
Would to God they’d awake and realize
That their reckless words and actions
Do not give them license for accusation
Inconclusive speculation full of assumption
Meanwhile they go deeper into isolation
Hoping that by pity their vile alienation
Will arrest and arouse some affection
A depth of concern and compassion
Perhaps enough to cover their objection
To truth, honesty, and confrontation
With the pity party ploy use wisdom
Employ gentleness and great caution
However never yield to the tendency
To immediately cave in to peaceably
End the irritating, escalating pity party
For in doing so you will welcome another
An endless occurrence of pity parties
Giving leverage to the pathetic person
Who prefers to use pity as their weapon
To get their way, move truth far away
Manipulate and intimidate you day by day
Get a backbone and say no to pity today!
Lest they become forever unavoidable
Make your life to be most reprehensible
Don’t feel for pity ploys, nor let them follow
Neither let them plague you now or tomorrow
Confront lies and pity to be rid of sorrow
Buy the truth and don’t compromise
Happiness is always an inside job
That the pitiful in heart never despise
Hence the pity party in your presence
Because your joy they recognize.

Race and Ethnic Heritage

It is one of the most common of all convictions that one is born to, and belongs to, the best of nations. The environment of ones birth becomes ones country, ones people and ones home! We are inclined to frown upon those from other nations as “strangers” or “foreigners”, who are assumed less privileged than ourselves without our own sense of “belonging”.

In truth, however, the foreigner or stranger feels much the same way about his country of origin and his relationship to us. He has the same sense of belonging and national pride about his country of birth that we have about ours.

In fact, then it does not really matter, contrary to personal belief where one is born. Because of ones growing up in an ethnic environment peculiar to its race and nation, and knowing no other, it is ones only and therefore the very best. That does not stop us, however, from sometimes being attracted to other ways and customs, in particular to “clothing”, finding same fascinatingly exotic – like kimonos, saris, turbans and more “familiar” national costumes ( to mention a few).

Closer contacts with those foreigners or strangers brings one easily to the conclusion that maybe – under the skin – we are not such strangers after all. Because in understanding and outlook, convictions and opinions, there is often a closer affinity present than with many people of ones own racial or national background.

This being the case, does it really matter then, to which nation one is born, apart from the fact that we would prefer personal privileges in the form of material wealth to a country without it. Even though, would one really care if one did not know any different?

We are conditioned through our circumstances of birth to look upon “foreign strangers” with reserved distrust and often harsh criticism for being ethnically different from ourselves, and we consequently “keep our distance” if they are among us. The next generation however, will ethnically make them “one of us”, because of their new environment of upbringing, with all its customs and traditions, they know no other. Will we then overcome the awareness of the perhaps still prevailing colour of their skin, or accept them as one of us and reserve any further reservations.

With the influx of such newcomers and their becoming one of our nation, do we realise that we, through mixed, and consequent offspring, become a new and “other” race, influenced by entirely new blood and genes?

If skin colour and features are really only difference as the possibility of the mental and spiritual “closeness” has already verified, its such a slight deviation from what our development would have been otherwise, really so important?

It is not such a frightening experience if one considers the ultimate future outcome, when we are all much the same and unconditionally accept and, hopefully, love one another as one heart and soul of a nation.

How to Follow the 10 Commandments of the Law of Attraction

Getting a positive result from the law of attraction means making changes in your life. The law of attraction can also generate negative effects depending on the actions that you take. Making one change can be the difference to a desired future.

I would like to discuss 10 things that are a requirement of the Law of Attraction to bring positive things toward you. A law is recognized as a rule and is mandatory in certain situations in order to work. The rule of thumb here is that your actions have to be calculating in order to follow the specific commandments of the Law of Attraction. To make it clearer, you must target certain areas of your life to get you to where you want to go.

1. Purpose What is your purpose in this life? Do you know what your gifts and talents are? Are you doing what you were created to do to fulfill your purpose of providing help and assistance to others and making contributions to society? Or are you living your life just tagging along? Search and examine yourself because without purpose, you will not attract success. Success does not just come along to someone who is not prepared or who don’t have any idea where they are going. Therefore, to make the law of attraction work, you need to evaluate your life and see where you are, where you want to be, and what are the talents you have to get there.

2. Visualize Now that you have a clue of what your purpose is, you need to visualize and see yourself already there. Do whatever it takes to keep these pictures in your mind at all times. Make a scrapbook or keep a journal to remind yourself that you are on a mission to get to a place of purpose.

3. Passion Create a passion for your purpose because it is your passion that will attract the tenacity to keep you going and possibly bring people to you that can help you to fulfill your dream.

4. Perseverance Don’t ever give up. There will be times when you feel like nothing is happening, but you have to be patient and in the meantime, do things that will contribute to your dream while you wait for the manifestation.

5. Courage Have no fear of the unknown. Fear stifles your dream. Doubt will kill your purpose. Fear attracts failure, so encourage yourself if you have to and don’t let anyone discourage you.

6. Desire and passion are not the same thing, but they work well together. However, desire is what you have determined that you want to happen. Passion is the excitement of what is about to happen, so don’t confuse the two. Continue to maintain your desire by speaking it out aloud to yourself. Even if it looks crazy, do it. I find that a spoken word is more effective than just a thought.

7. Goals Set realistic goals for yourself and write them down. Start with your short-term goals first. You will be able to identify with a shorter plan and see the results quicker. When you document your goals, people will be attracted to your organization skills and be willing to help you to fulfill your goals. Keep focused on your purpose. Never lose sight of the path that you want to take and let that be your motivation to continue to move toward your purpose and fulfill the law of attraction.

8. Change Don’t be afraid of change. Change is good. It shows that you are on your way to self-improvement. It gives you a sense of hope and attracts new friends who will identify with the change in you and want to be your friend.

9. Relationships Your new friends will help you to stimulate good relationships and it is through your new relationships that you will get to your destined purpose. After you leave your old friends behind, you attract a new future with new people who may make a better impact on your life. Sometimes we get stuck where we are because of the friends we keep; friends who don’t want to change or who don’t have a sense of purpose, so forming new and worthwhile friendships is another key element in following the rules of the law of attraction.

10. Gratitude Lastly, but more importantly, is gratitude. Be thankful for where you are and where you are going. There is a spiritual entity at work in fulfilling the law of attraction, so connect with your spirituality and make it known that you understand the importance of remaining humble and being grateful for the gifts, talents and opportunities that have been afforded you because without these, you would never be able to fulfill the rules of engagement. The law of attraction cannot function without these ten principles. You must be aware of your human side as well as your spiritual side because that is what will enable you to proceed and have good success.

Save Time Using These Ten Tips

Trying to saving time seems to be a national pastime. For whatever reasons, we let time slip through our fingers, and it seems that we can all use a little more time, “Can’t there be more then 24 hours in a day” we groan. With so many things scheduled each day, how do I create more time? Ok, we can’t create more time, 24 hours is 24 hours. The best way to “create time” is to save time doing mundane things. This way you could have more time for the important things in life.

I surveyed some of the busiest people I know; I knew that they would come up with a host of ways to save time. They didn’t disappoint me; I received many different and inventive ways to save time! The following list is a compilation of what they came up with as 10 ways to save time! Starting at number ten and working down to the top time saver.

10. Whenever possible run your car through the car wash when you fill it, & keep a small accessible trash bag in your car for any trash you may collect during a drive.

9. Whenever possible find a doctor, dentist, hairdresser, chiropractor, etc, within walking distance of your work, that way you can make appointments during your lunch break or directly before or after work and not spend the extra time driving.

8. Lay out your clothing and/or the kids clothes ahead of time for the day/week.

7. Hire someone to do the ugly elbow grease house cleaning as often as you need/can afford.

6. Prepare food (like roasting a chicken, preparing a casserole, etc) on Sunday, when it’s not so hectic for the upcoming week. Now when you get home you can just heat it up and dinner is ready! In addition, when putting food away after dinner, make up a container for your lunch. Then in the morning, all you have to do is grab it and go.

5. Go to: https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx to opt out of telemarketing calls.

4. When you receive an email and you know that there is something that you need to do with that e-mail, do it right then and there, don’t open, read, close, and plan to go back to it when you have time. If you know you will not have time for that email do not open it until you do have time.

3.Put your finances online, set up auto bill pay, either with your bank online or direct debit with the company. This may take you a little bit of time at first to set it up, but you will save time in the long run and have the peace of mind knowing that your bills are being paid on time.

2.When you are doing errands make sure to list all items that you know need to get done during the day, try to combine things when you can. In addition, make sure that you make a driving circle when writing up your list, beginning of the circle is the start of your house, the end of the circle is returning to your house.

And the number one timesaver is:

    USE A CALENDAR!

By having a “daytimer”, a calendar of some sort, when you are asked to be somewhere, volunteer, an appointment or even a social gathering, you can check your calendar to ensure you are not over booked. In addition, you can always use the calendar to decline a request, as you may something “previously” scheduled.

Dog Training for Everyday Obedience

Those who show dogs on a regular basis understand the importance of dog training, but often those people who have dogs as pets overlook this important aspect of owning a canine. Though dogs that are simply for companionship have much less to learn than those who are doing the dog show circuit – especially the obedience circuit – they still do need to learn some basic things so that they can be a positive member of the family.

Training can be as simple as teaching your dog not to jump up on people, sleep on the couch, or run away, or it can be a little more detailed, such as learning to sit, stay, and heel. This all depends on your situation with your dog. When you own a dog in the city you should be taking him on regular walks, and learning how to behave properly while on the leash should be an important part of his dog training. He should learn to walk next to you but slightly behind, so that he sees you as the leader, he should learn to not go after other dogs or especially after other people, and he should learn to stop and wait patiently when you are not walking. A good dog training course can help you with all of these things, and it can be well worth it to spend the money.

There should be some training in the house as well. It can be a good idea to teach your dog to stay out of the dining area when you and/or your family is eating, and to not be too rough when playing with you or especially younger children. This type of dog training should be done firmly and consistently. One of the most important parts of dog training is paying attention to your dog and letting him know that he is a valued member of the family.

Enjoy Your Training

Stress, agony, pain…these are words that shouldn’t describe your training sessions. If they do, then you are not doing the right exercises. Life is stressful enough (for most people), so why would you want to add on to the stress by participating in an extremely agonizing training session each day?

It’s a proven fact that you get more out of your training sessions if you enjoy your exercises. People tend to give up easily if their training is hard or difficult. But don’t get me wrong, sometimes (especially when starting out) it will be hard and you will feel pain in whatever muscles you are trying to strengthen. But if you continue to train those same muscles, eventually you’ll get stronger and the pain will go away.

In order to enjoy your training, you must do a little research. Search the web to find out which exercises work the best and take less energy and time to do. Believe it or not, there are plenty of easier and less time-consuming exercises out there that will get you the same results as if you were doing the harder, more extreme exercises.

The lesson here is to train smart, not hard. I’m pretty sure you’d be pissed if you spent hours each day strengthening your body, and then you come across someone who looks just as good as you do and did half the hard work to get there. Don’t let that happen. Get ahead of the rest of the pack in the shortest amount of time. Then you’ll be the one pointing and laughing at them.

Saving the Environment - Every Little Steps Count

Saving energy and the overall environment is a topic that has gained public attention more recently. People are realizing that at the rate we are using earth’s valuable resources, we will face serious shortage in a near future.

Water is the first resource we have been wasting in the past. We have to be aware that everyday, people worldwide are dying from lack of drinkable water. Yet, in our “civilized” countries, we let purified water go to waste in many ways daily.

Small steps a person can take to limit her consumption of water is: only wash the dishes or do the laundry when there is a full load to be done, do not let tap water run for long periods while brushing one’s teeth. Other obvious drinkable water savings would be not to use sprinklers on rainy days or using a broom to sweep one’s carport instead of the garden hose.

Another valuable earth’s resource we have been wasting is electricity. Again, in many developing countries, electricity could save hundreds of lives. Yet, we are openly wasting this valuable resource in western countries. Small steps that can be taken to limit the quantity of electricity consumed daily are: close all lights that are not being used, do not put the air conditioning on (or a heating system) if windows are opened, wash clothes that do not require special care with cold water instead of hot water.

Forests and trees have also been overused by man and wasted in more ways than can be counted. Recycling paper is the very first step in limiting paper (and trees) waste. I have personally contacted all the magazines with which I am not subscribed and asked them to send me these hundreds of paper I did not read and wasted. It took time and patience but eventually, I evaluate I must have saved an entire small forest by that little step alone.

Writing on both sides of paper is also a very good way to diminish one’s consumption of paper and thus limiting deforestation.

Quality air is also a resource we have wasted to the worst degree. By overusing cars and toxic emissions which affected the ozone layers, we have wasted our most valuable resource: the air we breathe. Small steps that can be taken are exactly this: taking small steps instead of using the car for any small trip to the corner store. In taking such action as walking to get to near places, a person will also gain physical benefits and enjoy a better health condition.

Saving oxygen and the quality of the air that we breathe also means taking a strong stand and pressuring governments in place to adopt and apply strict rules and regulations to limit pollution and toxic gas emissions.

Another valuable resource that we have been shamefully wasting is the wildlife. Many animals are now on the endangered species list or, worst, have disappeared because of man’s careless actions. Reading and keeping up to date on the most recent developments and again taking action to limit the damages caused to animals are small steps a person can take to start making a difference.

Need and Want

Since the beginning of time on earth man has been “acquiring”. It began with basic “need,” progressively advancing to further and greater “needs”, and as it all evolved into something resembling what we now call our civilisation, the need has become – now more than ever - “wanting”, as the basics of our “needs” have long since been met.

Beginning with the things needed and evolved into the things wanted we heavily draw on the supplies that make the manufacture of our “wants” possible, and with it begin to deplete our earth of its natural resources (some of which are already running out) – like oil for our machines and engines, wood for our furniture and the production of paper, petrol for our cars and soon, maybe, gas for our cooking etc, leaving ourselves eventually destitute of that which we really need for the purpose of our very existence and survival.

Do we really need all the things we squander of the earths’ supplies? Do we need to chop down trees (which incidentally cleanse from carbon dioxide and supply us with oxygen for the air we breathe) for so many wasteful “creations” like endless fencing and wood chips for our garden beds? Do we need so many metal containers, and gadgets for so many different purposes? Do we need so much oil for the machinery that produces these “unnecessaries,” and its by-products: petrol for the cars that take us to the destinations, where other transport of greater economy, – namely buses, trains, trams would suffice? The list of waste is endless! Such is the result of our “need” to “want”!

The more money available the greater the thirst for want! The old is readily discarded for the new, and the more each new one is satisfied, the more the need for another, new “want”.

In the end, the gratification for each “want” no longer satisfies; the senses of appreciation of the wanted thing become dulled and the further acquisition of new things become the need to obey an urge that has become a habit.

What about making it a habitual urge to “save” our future by saving our resources through less buying, using and wasting?

How about “wanting” to save our planet.

Role of Alternative Medicine in Modern Society

Typically, alternative medicine differs from traditional medicine in that alternative medicine is older and what we might call unconventional or non-Western medicine. Alternative medicine does not follow the traditional science and research that current medicines undergo. Alternative medicine could also be termed complementary or traditional medicine or the therapies that can be integrated into current medicine. The staff of the National Library of Medicine of the United States classified alternative medicine under the category of complementary therapies in their Medical Subjects Heading Section. This was done in the year 2002. The definition provided was that alternative medicine therapeutic practices were not considered as an integral part of the traditional allopathic medicine. Therapies like acupuncture, dieting, physical therapy like exercises or yoga, etc. are termed as alternative medicine. These therapies are called complementary when they are used along with conventional treatments. If they are done in place of conventional treatments, they are known as alternative treatments.

In April 1995, the panel of National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, worked on Definition & Description, CAM Research Methodology Conference, Office of Alternative Medicine. The panel defined alternative medicine and complementary medicine as those healing resources that encompass all health systems and practices that are different from the dominant health system of a particular society or culture. Usually, therapies like ayurveda, herbal medicine, folk medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, naturopathy, diet practices, chiropractic, music therapy, massage, pranic healing, etc. are classified as alternative or complementary medicine. People who do not find a cure, remedy or success in allopathic medicine generally try alternative medicine. Such people generally suffer from cancer, arthritis, acquired immuno deficiency syndrome (AIDS), chronic back pain, etc. Therapies included under alternative medicine would cease to be included in that category once their efficacy is proven and they are considered safe and effective. They are then considered as part of traditional medicine. An example would be chiropractors. Twenty years ago insurance would not pay for them as they were considered “alternative and ineffective.” Today thousands of people have been helped by chiropractors and they are now recognized in the medical community. A similar movement is underway in the nutritional supplement and nutraceutical industry.

Over the years, more and more people have been using alternative medicine because traditional medicine is not working for them. The 2004 survey by the National Center for Complementary & Alternative Medicine of the United States revealed that approximately 36% of Americans used alternative medicine in 2002. If alternative medicine is used in conjunction with traditional allopathic medicine, an integrative doctor is a person’s best option. Some traditional doctors are adamantly against or simply do not believe in complementary medicine, even though research continues to show the benefits of many compounds. Your doctor should be informed about other approaches you may be using and if they are not comfortable with that then always feel free to choose another doctor. This would enable the doctor to foresee any possible complications or a better time in which to use a complementary therapy. The concern in using alternative medicine stems from the fact that some practitioners of alternative medicine do not have an accredited medical degree and therefore do not have a valid medical license. However, in recent times, many educational institutions and universities have started offering courses in homeopathy, ayurveda, siddha, unani, acupuncture, and naturopathy. The recent growth in this industry is evident by the many people demanding different, and in some cases better, care than what they are receiving in “modern medicine.” They are no longer accepting the fact that they need to suffer with pain or illness because modern pharmacy does not have a magic bullet for them.

Write Down Your Training Schedule

Aside from the fact that most people are procrastinators, there is another reason why a lot of people fail to get in shape or reach their fitness goals. That reason is the failure to write down your training schedule.

Writing down your fitness goals, training schedule, and exercise plan is essential for people who are dead serious about getting into better shape and improving their lifestyles. When we write our plan/goals down on paper, it makes it easier for us to accomplish them. It’s in writing so we don’t have to constantly recall what we are supposed to do every time we want to train.

Many people just exercise whenever they’re in the mood for it. That mentality is doomed to fail when trying to achieve and maintain physical fitness. If a person decided to work out one day, it might be another five days or more before that person decides to work out again. And what does this do for that person: absolutely nothing. If a person who trains like this starts to build up his/her stamina on the first day and doesn’t train for a couple of days after that, guess what…their fitness resets and returns to where they started on the first day. Proper training includes consistency: the ability to keep going and going and going. Just like the energizer bunny - he must have tons of stamina by now!

The truth is: everybody has those energy reserves that allows us to keep going. You just have to unlocked it and use it to it’s full potential. So starting today for the next 30 days, dedicate at least 30 minutes to training your body and your stamina. You’d be surprised at the results you’ll begin to see and feel in such a short time period.
