How to Start a Reiki Therapy Business - Basic Marketing Tips

So you’ve been doing Reiki for a while now, and your friends and family say you should open a business. This idea is definitely appealing. But you’re not sure how to develop a Reiki practice. How can you attract clients - other than the ones you already have, of course? Here are some things to think about when marketing your new Reiki business.

First steps
Depending on where you’re planning to practice, Reiki can be difficult or easy to market. It all depends on how much the people in that area already know about it. If they don’t know much, you’ll probably have to do some explaining and maybe give away a few treatments to show what Reiki can do.

The pros and cons of free treatments
“Freebies” can be a good way to introduce people to the benefits of Reiki. But try not to give away too many. There’s a weird psychology when it comes to pricing; generally the higher the price the more valuable people *think* something is (whether it really is or not). If you do a lot of free treatments people may not think they’re worth paying for. So try to keep your freebies short

- long enough for the person to experience the energy but short enough to make them want more
- and be willing to pay for it.

Marketing materials
You can get a lot of different kinds of marketing materials, from brochures and stationery to promotional items like pens with your name and telephone number. If you have the money to spend then feel free to do that. But when you’re first starting out you really don’t need that much. Business cards and a brochure should suffice.

Your business cards should include your name, your business name (if you have one), and your telephone number. It’s also a very good idea to include a couple of phrases about the services you offer and the benefits of Reiki energy therapy. And unless you’re working out of an office, it’s *not* a good idea to include your address. In fact, some local business ordinances specifically prohibit putting an address on a card for a home-based business.

It’s really important to take business cards with you everywhere you go; you never know when you’ll need them (and you may be surprised at the situations where you *will* need them). Brochures are necessary to explain Reiki to people who don’t know about it but don’t have time to listen to your explanation.

If you don’t want to write your own brochures check with your professional organization (you did join one, didn’t you?). They may be able to supply them. If not, there are also commercially prepared materials that you can order. Just make sure your brochures include your name (and business name, if you have one) and number. If they don’t, attach your business card. Brochures won’t help your business if people can’t get in touch with you.

Final thoughts
Marketing can be as simple or as complicated as you like. But when you’re first developing your Reiki practice there are lot of things to think about, so try to keep your initial efforts simple. Just don’t neglect them. They’re important to the health of your business - just as Reiki energy itself is important to your physical, mental, and emotional health.

The Fastest Way To Become An Expert

You Are An Infopreneur - But Are You An EXPERT?

The single most important thing that will help you acquire more customers, delight them, and keep them coming back to buy more from you is the quality of your information.

And that means being - or becoming - an expert at what you teach.

Far too many infopreneurs are happy settling for being average, or even mediocre. That’s sad. Because, even if great marketing and perfect niche targeting allows you to make a few sales and earn some quick money, you are literally stabbing your fledgling business in the back by not delivering top notch value to your buyers.

So when it’s time to come back for more information or education, your initial group of customers will ask themselves an important question:

“Did The First Purchase Give Me Enough Value?”

If the answer to that is “No” - or even, “Maybe” - you have lost the battle for their mind and loyalty. Your business just failed!

Does that sound dramatic? It’s not.

At best, many infopreneur businesses only break even or make a small profit from their first sale. The cost of acquiring a new customer is high.

It is only when enough of these customers are delighted by what you gave them, come back for more, and spend more money with your business, that you grow bigger and profitable. In short, to sustain your infopreneuring business, you need to focus on ALWAYS delivering top quality value to your buyers.

When a customer asks the question: “Was my first purchase valuable?”, you want the answer to be an emphatic: “Yes, it delivered MORE than what I hoped for!”

Which brings me to the point… to delight your customers and over-deliver in value as an infopreneur, your information must be the best. The only way that can happen is when the information comes from an expert - preferably yourself.

So while there are many things in your life and experience that could be packaged into an information product and sold to a hungry audience, not all of them are areas you are an expert at.

Too many newbie infopreneurs begin their efforts ignoring this simple tenet. They figure out it is far more profitable to go after ‘hot’ niche markets, and make a killing - with scant regard for the quality of their information and the value it extends to buyers.

While this may be a way to make ‘quick cash’, it is not a good foundation to build a solid, sustainable infopreneur career.

But how can you become an ‘expert’ at everything?

The good news is, you don’t have to. You can pick and choose something you already know enough about to qualify you as an ‘expert’. Or you can spend time learning and studying a subject thoroughly enough to become an ‘expert’.

Depending on the niche you are targeting, you might gain that status in a few weeks, or at most a few years. After all, it only takes 5 years for a fresh high school student to become a doctor, an engineer, a lawyer or other professional. Gaining expert status for your infopreneur business will be much quicker - and easier.

Better still, because hardly one in fifty infopreneurs will take the extra time and effort to do this, you will be building yourself a strong barrier to competition - which will help secure your business in the long term.

So start becoming an ‘expert’ - and then be an infopreneur.

The Environmental Movement Gaining Momentum

It’s a great time for those who have consistently fought to bring environmental concerns to the forefront in the news as well as in people’s minds across the world.

Finally, the green movement, the movement to help stop dangerous greenhouse gases from destroying the ozone layer and causing disastrous global warming, is gaining a ton of momentum thanks to the persistence of activism.

The publicity this movement has received lately is astounding. First, we have Al Gore, our former Vice President, winning an Oscar (who’d a guessed it?) for a controversial yet thought provoking documentary on the iminent threat of global warming.

We all know that anything that originates in Hollywood garners boatloads of media publicity, so this alone generated awareness and support where there was a relative lack thereof before, and motivated thousands if not millions out of complacency.

Sure, there are critics of the documentary that say the iminence as stated by the former Vice President is overstated, but isn’t it nonetheless a victory in the fight to reduce greenhouse gases through awareness?

In addition to the Hollywood attention, there are organizations such as TerraPass gaining recognition and wide sponsorship for their efforts in reducing emissions from vehicles by a unique marketing strategy.

TerraPass is an organization that funds research for alternative energy sources and promotes awareness about what is called your “carbon footprint”, or how much you contribute to the buildup of carbon monoxide gases which destroy the earth’s ozone layer and contribute to global warming.

What you can do is go to their website, Terrapass.com, type in the year make and model of your vehicle, and it will calculate your contirbution based on that information.

Your moneys are then donated to alternative, earth friendly, renewable energy projects such as windmill farms, which generate energy resources without damaging the environment.

A simple concept, and yet it has taken off and become incredibly popular - especially in states like California, which is the leader in environmental awareness and proactive politics on environmental issues.

The governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is even getting into not only the promotion of green living, but he also lives by example.

Two of his Hummers are now powered by alternative, earth friendly fuels, and he has signed landmark legislature which calls for the reduction of greenhouse gases by 25% - a huge endeavor - by the year 2020.

The governor has indicated a strong stance in preventive measure against global warming, and has created a political culture of awareness on the subject by drawing public attention to his policies. This is great news for the green movement.

You almost can’t go a day without reading some sort of news about global warming nowadays, so this alone shows that it is now a public concern and of public interest, otherwise the newspapers wouldn’t bother writing about it.

The fact is, we all have a part in keeping our environment safe and people-friendly for thousands of years to come, and the publicity as of late has only reinforced the idea that if you aren’t part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.

Wood Can Make Fine Jewelry

Who would have thought that natural materials like rocks, native string and woods would be used for jewelry today? Way back hundreds years ago, our natives used to have body accessories made of these native materials. Aside from shells found in rivers and seas, wood was also abundant during this period.

Wearing jewelry can improve one’s personality, self esteem and general positivity. The evolution of gold, silver and metals used as a material for jewelry completely engulfed the needs of the people and native jewelry somewhat vanished due to lack of expert hands to craft natural products. Now, experts have discovered a way to surpass the struggle and can now produce wooden jewelry and make them into fine pieces.

Wooden jewelry can be mixed with glass, plastics, beads and other affordable materials, shaped and painted to produce tremendous fashion styles. We owe these fashions to the expertise of jewelry companies and homemakers.

Among these wooden jewelry types are wooden bracelets having a floret design, made of beads and glass; flowered wooden dress clips; wooden beaded pins; multi-colored wooden coin purses; wooden beads and leaves necklace and wooden brooches. Native jewelers designed and handcrafted this wooden jewelry and other accessories using sometimes laminated materials in various color integrations and mixed-up. Synthetic gemstones and light weight jewelry combined with woods are made for many people.

You might worry about the durability of this craftsmanship but jewelers provide excellent value guarantees and offer superior quality – provided you choose carefully.

Bracelets are composed of laminated pieces of wood, handcrafted and mixed with beads and gemstones, wired with 14 karat wire and clasped with sterling silver or gold plated material. Other wooden jewelry is made of colorful veneers, laminated dangles made of woods and wooden beads. Small and large hair barrettes are sometimes made of French back designs.

Wood can also be useful in making hair sticks. Laminated colorful veneered hair sticks provide durability and strength. They can be purchased individually. You can create many versions of hairstyles out of a single hair stick.

As with other jewelry, these superior handmade wooden jewelry types are ideal for anniversaries and birthdays.

Fairies Illustrations - Grim Reaper Artwork - Sorting Out Feelings of Passion

Passion is noticing every single thing around you, feeling it and then acting on that gift because you cannot help yourself.

We all must decide on our own passions and relentlessly march toward them. March forward towards the grim reaper and those drawings that seem too much at times.

IT IS A GIFT

Passion is emotion felt deeply.

Sometimes it almost feels like too much like grim reaper artwork and I would love to run from it. I would at times be Humpty Dumpty fallen from the wall. I can’t. It is the overwhelming presence of something you simply cannot control. As an artist painting emotions, fairies illustrations or beautiful women it often feels like drowning.

When I find that space that gives me the satisfaction of meeting my goal, finding that glint in the eye or just a simple highlight somewhere in the painting and it all feels worth it… to feel too much.

One of my daughters was pledging for a sorority once. You know how that goes? If not, you have known rejection I am sure at least once?

Girls go to different houses and some get invites back. Some… get no invites back at all. Ah yes a real grim reaper artwork, an illustration.

I told a friend about this once and I just began crying because I could not get those girls without a single invitation out of my mind and heart. She asked why I had to feel things so deeply. I just kept crying. I would be Humpty Dumpty fallen no matter that it only be a drawing.

I know why though. I feel things deeply because I want to.

It is a decision to feel life and know that there is more than you in it.

It is picking up a single leaf and seeing the intricacy of it. It is knowing that if that leaf is that special as to have curves and veins and sometimes a tinge of color from the flower that might emerge to bring fruit, then wow… look at our own selves.

I am overwhelmed if I choose to be, I do it seems.

I do try to notice the young girl without an invitation in this fairies illustration and much more than that. I notice because my heart is open to feeling things with passion and I think that is the artists way.

Yes, it is difficult because it you notice the young woman without an invite you must also recognize the bigger picture like Darfur and suffering. It can become overwhelming.

As an artist or poet or anything that draws strong feelings passion is always a gift.

Is Your Dog Allergic to Something in its Home?

Dogs have always been regarded as man’s best friend. Sadly, these creatures are also susceptible to allergies some say are very similar to what humans may experience.

Vets have placed dog allergies into 5 categories. These are namely atopy, bacteria, contact, flea, and food.

Atopy is another word for inhalant allergy. A dog may excessively chew stuff and scratch or lick different parts of the body to relieve the itch. This usually comes from dust, feathers, pollen, molds and human dander. This means the house should be kept clean not only for the humans but also for the dogs as well. You can be sure that this is the problem by looking for visible signs that are usually in a reddish brown color over the affected area. A vet can perform a more thorough exam using what is known as Intradermal Skin Testing. Treatment for this allergy is simply. You can give the dog a bath using some medicated shampoo, a diet that is high in Omega 3 or 6 fatty acids or give it an allergy shot to make it go away.

Next is bacteria allergies. Again this is nothing serious and owners will know something is wrong when the dog’s hair begins to shed. The only way to treat this problem is by letting the doctor give the dog some antibiotics.

Dogs that are sensitive to certain things may have what is known as a contact allergy. This could be from the collar attached to the neck to food and water bowls. There are other examples and the only you will know what is causing is by observing the pet. Once this is found, this should be removed and things will go back to normal.

Fleas are considered to be the number one enemy of dogs. This is because not being able to pluck it could make the pet lose blood and die. This is why dogs should be bathed at least once a week and treated with a flea preventative medication. But dogs that experience flea allergies do not get it from it biting on the skin. This comes from the saliva, which causes the pet to itch and lose hair. Just the same, using some accessories and proper hygiene can take care of it.

The last is called a food allergy. Believe it or not, some dogs are sensitive to certain foods just like humans. Some examples of this could be fish, chicken, milk and pork. This isn’t that hard to notice because the pet may sneeze often, have discharges in the eyes or nose, experience hair loss, diarrhea, coughing and even breathing problems. The best thing to do of course is to find out what causes it and make sure these are no longer fed to the dog. The pet will have to follow a strict diet so such incidents will never happen again.

Dogs are sensitive animals and the only way to make sure it is doing fine is by checking on it regularly. Should there be a hint of trouble, the best thing to do is bring this to the vet for his advice.
You should not leave the situation to chance thinking it is just the weather and things will be okay. No one will be able to tell if this is an allergy or a virus, which means this can only be confirmed with the help of a veterinarian.

8 Tips for a Stress-Free Vacation

Preparing for a vacation should be exciting and fun. Unfortunately, it seems as though whenever we go on vacation, there are always last-minute household concerns to attend to, such as: Who will take care of our pets? Who will water our plants? How will we keep our home secure?

Without a plan, we may be left wondering whether we left the oven on, locked the doors, or packed everything we needed for our trip. These concerns can make our journey less enjoyable and our vacation worrisome. The following helpful vacation preparation tips will ensure that you always leave for vacation feeling fully prepared, relaxed, and secure so you can get the most out of your trip.

Vacation Tip #1: Use a packing checklist when you pack.

Whether you’re packing for a long weekend or a 3-week excursion, a packing checklist simplifies the process. When you use a packing checklist, you can be certain that you have everything that you need to fully enjoy your vacation. You can get a comprehensive travel packing checklist free from GoSightsee.com. Sign up for the free travel newsletter and you’ll also get insider travel tips, helpful articles, and travel discounts.

Vacation Tip #2: Arrange for your mail and newspapers to be held until you return.

Mail piled up in your mailbox and unclaimed newspapers stacked on your doorstep can indicate that you’re not home. This can signal to would-be thieves that your home is unguarded and a good target. Prevent this by calling the Post Office a few days before your trip and asking them to hold your mail. Once you return, you simply go to the Post Office to retrieve your mail and they’ll start delivering it to your mailbox again.

You can do the same thing with your newspaper by calling their subscription line and asking them to pause delivery for the days you’ll be out of town. They’ll either extend your subscription or give you a reduced bill for the non-delivered papers.

Vacation Tip #3: Ask a friend to check your home while you’re away.

It’s a good idea to ask someone you know and trust to stop by your home a few times while you’re on vacation. Give them a key, directions, your contact information, and the dates that you’ll be away. Your friend can park their car in your driveway, check your home for any signs of entry and/or theft, can water your lawn and/or plants, and can take care of anything else you need.

This achieves several goals:

  • Your friend’s car will be parked in your driveway sporadically, giving would-be thieves the message that your home isn’t a good target.

  • If they encounter a problem or suspect entry or theft, they can contact you right away instead of you having to wait to discover and deal with the issue once you return.
  • Your friend will be taking care of your plants and lawn so they’ll be alive and well when you get back into town.

Vacation Tip #4: Hire a petsitter to care for your pets.

A petsitter will feed, groom, play with, and watch your pets while you’re on vacation. If you have pets and you’re going for longer than two days, it’s definitely a good idea to hire a professional petsitter.

You’ll want to familiarize them with your home and the location of your pets’ supplies. Provide them with a key, written instructions on how to care for your pet, your contact information, and the name, address, and phone number of your veterinarian.

Vacation Tip #5: Set automatic light timers throughout your home.

An easy way to make your home look inhabited while you’re out of town is to program a few light timers to automatically turn lights on and off throughout your home. These devices are inexpensive and can be found in any discount retail store (such as Target). They are simple to program and work best if you use them on lamps in different areas of your home and stagger their on and off times. For instance, if a lamp in your living room is programmed to stay on from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., then a lamp in your upstairs bedroom could be programmed to stay on from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.

These are also helpful if you have pets so they aren’t spending an unusual amount of time in darkness. Using automatic light timers can help your pets relax more while you’re on vacation by keeping up their regular light exposure.

It’s also a good idea to have some of your outdoor lights automatically turn on at dusk and turn off at dawn. This will not only make your home look inhabited, but may also thwart would-be thieves who will be deterred from breaking into a well-lit home.

Vacation Tip #6: Turn off and unplug electrical equipment and appliances.

The day you leave for your trip, you’ll want to check all of your major appliances and electrical equipment to make sure everything is turned off. This includes:

  • Oven and stove

  • Lights that don’t have an automatic timer
  • Computer, printer, and other home office equipment
  • Televisions
  • Fans and plug-in heaters

You also want to unplug electrical devices and some major appliances to help prevent potential fires. This includes:

  • Plug-in heaters (baseboard, dish, etc.)

  • Hair dryers
  • Curling irons
  • Shredder
  • Blender, food processor, toaster oven, and other kitchen electrics

While you’re checking and unplugging these devices, also check your faucets to make sure that no one has inadvertently left water running. Taking these steps will help put your mind at ease and ensure that your electric and water bills don’t balloon out of control while you’re away.

Vacation Tip #7: Adjust your thermostat.

To keep your gas and electric bill in check while you’re on vacation, set your thermostat to a lower temperature (in the winter) or a higher temperature (in the summer) than you would normally use in your home. Since you won’t be there, you can save money on your heating and cooling bills by keeping the thermostat slightly higher or lower.

If your pets will still be at home while you’re away, make sure to keep the temperature comfortable for them and show your petsitter how to operate your thermostat in case any extremes in temperature are experienced.

Vacation Tip #8: Lock all doors and windows.

One of the last things to do before gathering your packed luggage and loading up the car is to check that all of your doors and windows are securely locked. Be sure to check your garage doors and windows as well.

Using this checklist to prepare for your vacations will give you less to worry about while you’re away. Less stress translates into a better vacation. Knowing that you have everything you need and that your home and pets are secure and being cared for will give you peace of mind. You’ll be able to truly relax and enjoy your vacation. Happy travels!

Mental Influence

What is the difference between telepathy and mental influence? Telepathy is the communication between two minds. In telepathy, the sender knows that he is sending a message to somebody, and the receiver also knows that he is receiving a message from someone. However, in mental influence only the sender knows that he is sending a message to somebody. When the receiver receives the message, he thinks that it is his own thought. That’s is the basic difference between telepathy and mental influence. Mental influence is one-way telepathic communication.

Who can do mental influence?
Anybody can do mental influence. You don’t need extraordinary concentration, chanting, or any special spiritual powers. You do need some confidence, belief, imagination, and patience.

What can mental influence be used for?
Just about anything. You can change others’ bad opinion of you. You can call someone to contact you. You can rejoin a broken family. You can use it in your business. You can become your boss’s favorite. You can turn your enemy into your friend. You can increase your sales if you’re a salesman. You can break off a bad relationship without pain or hostility. You can use mental influence to attract a new lover.

How do you do mental influence?
You have five basic steps to do mental influence successfully.

Step 1:
Decide what you want the receiver to think or do.
Phrase the suggestions from their point of view.
“Mary is a valuable employees. I would hate to lose her. I should give her the promotion she applied for.”

Step 2
Sit in a comfortable place. Close your eyes and look up slightly.
Relax..Relax…Relax…
Now do rhythmic breathing.
Inhale and count 1,2,3,4,5.
Hold breath for 1,2,3,4,5.
Exhale breath and count 1,2,3,4,5.
Do this for 10 to 30 times.
Now you should be in the alpha state .

Step 3
Imagine the receiver’s face. See it clearly in your mind. If it is not coming clearly, don’t worry. Just do as well as you can.

Step 4
Now mentally speak to the image. Give the suggestions. Continue for 10 minutes. Once you’ve successfully influenced a person, you will not need as much time to influence them again.

Step 5
Open your eyes. Repeat 1-3 times daily until you get the result you want. Allow a month for your mental influence to work, especially for major behavior changes, though you will often see results in hours to days.

All methods for mental influence basically follow these steps. I like this method better than any other I’ve tried because the rhythmic breathing is a reliable way to reach the alpha state, which is one of the keys to success. The others are phrasing your suggestions from the receiver’s point of view and persistence. Don’t try mental influence once and tell me it doesn’t work. If you don’t succeed at first, try, try again.
