Baby Acne and Colloidal Silver Soap

A baby’s skin is so soft and tender that it deserves the most gentle of soaps. In fact, doctors do not advice use of soap on baby’s skin. This is to safeguard baby’s delicate skin from the harsh chemicals found in the commercially available soaps in the market, which may damage the skin permanently. If at all, it is necessary to use soap for baby, utmost care should be taken while selecting it. It should be ensured that the selected soap is free from chemicals and does not result in skin irritation. It should be soft towards sensitive skin of the baby.

Bath time can be worrisome for new parents with a new baby. They are not sure about how cold or hot water should be. They may not be confidant about how to hold the baby while giving bath, especially when baby is wet and slippery. And, last but not the least, they are doubtful about the way they are doing things and whether it is right. Thus, with a new born baby, parents are already pre-occupied with so many worries. With all these things in their mind, they need to be completely sure that the baby soap they use is completely safe and gentle for their baby’s skin.

The parents must ensure some things while choosing baby soap. It should be ensured that baby soap is gentle because otherwise it could be irritating baby’s skin during or after bath time, and this would actually be opposite to what bath time is supposed to do. The baby soap being used should be hypoallergenic since it is not known that to what the baby may be allergic. They are more susceptible at this very young age. Baby soap also needs be non-toxic since young babies like to put their hands in their mouth, and even if the baby swallows some of the baby soap accidentally, they will be safe. Finally, baby soap should be Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS) free. SLS is a harsh chemical that is used as the chief foaming agent in soaps, including some baby soaps. The Journal of the American College of Toxicology said, “SLS can damage the immune system, causing separation of skin layers and inflammation of skin.” No parent would like to expose their baby’s skin to these chemicals by using harsh baby soap.

A natural baby soap with natural ingredients is most suited for baby’s soft skin. Usually such soaps are totally free from any chemicals ensuring that it is safe and gentle on baby’s skin. Many times natural baby soap even helps protect and soothe baby’s skin.

Aloe vera is one of the main ingredients of natural baby soap. Aloe Vera is a cactus like plant. It is well known for producing a thin, clear gel-like substance that provides relief for common skin irritations. It acts as a soothing agent on the baby’s skin. Aloe Vera soap makes the skin smooth and soft and quietly dirt free the skin pores. It also plays a role of moisturizer for the skin. Research has proven that Aloe Vera prevents suppression of the skin’s immune system. One of the main reasons Aloe Vera has become so popular among soap manufacturers is that it possesses incredible moisturizing properties. Studies show that Aloe Vera improves the skin’s ability to hydrate itself, aids in the removal of dead skin cells and has an effective penetrating ability that helps transport healthy substances through the skin.

The composition of Aloe vera elements makes it most suitable for making baby soap. One of its constituent is acid, which is antimicrobial, anti-helminitic (anti-parasitic worms) which helps in fast repair of skin tissue. Aloe vera contains twenty of the twenty two essential amino acids. It is well known that amino acid is very essential for repair and growth of human skin. It also contains lipids which is the principal structural components of any living cell. It also contains eight of the thirteen vitamins making it one of the main nourishing materials and most suitable for baby’s need for skin growth. The constituents Lactates and Salicylates have analgesic properties. It also contains significant quantities of minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium.

Other ingredients of the natural baby soap are water, saponified coconut-cemp-olive oils (with retained glycerin), olive fatty acids and rosemary extract. The rosemary extract is effective as an anti-oxidant in such soap at 0.005%, so contributes absolutely no scent. Another ingredient of baby soap is wheat germ oil which is a natural source of vitamin E and most needed for baby’s natural growth. Such soap also contains almond oil and avocado oil which are added to create an extremely gentle soap which is excellent for the sensitive skin of babies and young children–or anyone else with sensitive skin! No fragrance is added to eliminate any possibility of irritation.

These natural baby soaps are free from animal fats, preservatives or dyes. It is further fortified by some of the contents like herbal infusions, spices, goat’s milk and butter milk. All this makes a luxurious, thick, rich, lather that is dense and penetrating, with character and richness in every piece.

During the first few weeks and months of babies life, baby’s skin may develop spots, rashes, and some dots. This is normal. They will come and go naturally. However, doctor or pediatrician should be contacted if it is a cause of concern. Even though baby’s skin will go through a few rough times, if right baby soap is being used, one is sure that baby’s skin is being taken care as best as it can be.

Beware of Dream Stealers & False Prophets

Here are 2 common things to be aware of before embarking on an online business besides the risk of being scammed…

1. Beware of Dream Stealers…

It’s very easy to encounter Dream Stealers when we try to start a business online… People who do not believe that we can actually make a living online are perfect dream stealers. They are usually the same people who are unable to see the limitless possibilities that the internet offers to anyone and they only find financial security when they are employed by someone who might jolly well be torturing them =) Even our own family members out of the goodness of their heart can be the best of dream stealers. The irony of it all… Most dream stealers have not tried making a living online or are not even close to doing that even if they did due to lack of discipline and the character required to run a business online!

2. Beware of False Prophets…

Be warned of false online prophets! They are basically those who will predict certain trends and claim that certain industries will come to an end… They sow seeds of discouragement and fear. They will have lots of “evidence” to support their claims and you’ll need to get their product to survive through the chaotic times that they have predicted… When you get their products, you will realise that all their predictions are only scare tactics to get you to buy their products. Some will even tell you that online businesses are all evil.

Any business model can be deemed evil by them, working to take advantage of people who are ignorant and naive and causing most people to fail… Well, the discerning people will know that this “evil” did not come from the implementation of any business model and that most people who fail can actually succeed if they were teachable and disciplined.

The main problem with most people who fail nowadays is that they are stuck in their 9 to 5 job mindset… Let me give you an example: Imagine a person trying to do an online business… He puts in many manhours thinking that the amount of manhours he put in will equate to the amount of money he’ll make… That my friend is going into business with the wrong mindset =)

Owning your own business means that you must focus on what grows your business. You need not know everything because nobody can know everything. When you do not know something, just get someone who knows to help and pay the person! The real secret is to simply switch to a mindset that is ready to run and mind your own business.

The truth is, video didn’t kill the radio star. The truth is email did not replace snail mail. The truth is what people usually want is not what they really need.

Think about it… Yes, technology does make things a lot easier and more convenient… However, it can never replace the human spirit unless we allow that to happen to ourselves. Do we want that to happen? Hence, don’t let anyone steal your dreams or crush your spirit with “prophetic words”! Practise wisdom and take courage! You will succeed!

Crazy Guy on The Corner

Driving around the block the other day
I saw a funny crazy man on the corner
Talking to himself and everyone nearby
Rapping, talking trash, and shadow boxing
An African American aggressive like Tyson
Ear biting Mike, with a touch of Ludicrous
As he did his little jive at the intersection
With sunglasses on, he was getting it on
Shaking his body and moving his head
Then throwing some furious punches
Walking along the corner busy with traffic
Harassing those stopped at the street light
Badgering those behind glass windows
As if he wanted to pick a pleasure fight
Looking like he had a deep angst with them
Than suddenly he’d flip and be singing again
Roll to the other side of the gas station
To speak to traffic going the other way
This dude had lots of energy to say
Whatever was on his heart and mind
Idle and without work he seemed fine
Certainly however he was not sublime
Maybe a bit mentally ill and hungry
Though he was dressed ghetto nicely
As would a boxer or performer be
Practicing steps and dance moves
Whether for the ring or big stage
I know not. Yet this guy had got
The most appropriate and ideal spot
To entertain me and make me laugh
After a long ordeal with immigration
The fools who deal with alienation
Of new citizens like my Canadian
Wife trying to work and avoid strife
Yet they always lose our documents
Not however before cashing our checks
After which us they avoid and neglect
Or hurriedly push through and reject
Improperly spelling her name and details
Than lie and assure us all will be well
Months later we get docs saying not so
Than we begin again with all the gov’t show
The filing and processing of many papers
The incessant aggravation of ignorants
Employees working for the U.S. gov’t
Hence the crazy guy on the corner
Was timely and rightly positioned
To give me joy through my condition
Of dissatisfaction and utter irritation
Thank God for the fun crazy guy
Providing me humor and inspiration
Lest I have a meltdown by infuriation.

Check Your Free Credit Report

Your credit score affects you in more ways than you realize. Your credit score will tell lenders how likely you are going to pay your bills. As such, the credit score becomes their basis whether they should approve your credit application or not. The exact formulas for calculating credit scores are closely guarded secrets.

The three major credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) that are responsible for assigning credit scores to consumers based on information found in their credit reports charge a small fee whenever you request a copy of your credit score. Lenders use credit scores to determine who qualifies for a loan, at what interest rate, and what credit limits.

When you apply for a loan or a credit line, usually it’s because you are in need of the line of credit. Banks and other institutions that use scores as a factor in their lending decisions may deny credit, charge higher interest rates, or require more extensive income and asset verification if the applicant’s credit score is low.

When you want to purchase a car or acquire a land through mortgage, it is wise to know your credit score. You are advised to regularly check your free credit report and score to keep track of any adverse changes that could lower down your score. To guard against inaccurate information or fraud more often than yearly, one can request a report from a different credit reporting agency each four months. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months.

According to Jan Davis, Executive Vice-President of TransUnion, opening a new line will just decrease your score because you do not have a track record. Some lenders do not rely solely on the credit score scales released by these three credit bureaus. In the United States, credit rating attempts to measure the comparison of a potential borrower who fails to pay or other required obligations in a specific period of time.

Now, you can find out what your credit score is by contacting any credit reporting agency authorized to release free credit scores or accessing their respective sites. There are several ways for you to repair credit score and the following steps guarantee that it will happen, though not overnight: Get Your Credit Reports and Remember, it’s credit reports get them all. Any outstanding bills at or on the limit credit line will factor deeply with your credit score. It is important to bring down the total amount of outstanding debt you have.

Jim Banks of http://www.creditcardmonitor.org says “knowing how to get your credit report and improving your credit score will help you succeed in today’s world. Learning how to get and keep good credit is an important skill that can be learned.”

Oil Painting Lesson - Introduction To Oil Painting Mediums

Oil painting is a wonderful medium all on its own, but there are modifiers that you can add to the oil paint that can change its behavior. This article will give you an overview of some of the more popular oil painting mediums available to today’s oil painters. The use of oil painting mediums is really a matter of taste and not a requirement. Many artists do not use any mediums at all other then a bit of oil to make the paint more workable, as some paints are quite thick straight from the tube. Other artists swear by certain mediums. It should also be noted that artists differ on opinion when it comes to the effectiveness and quality of oil painting mediums, so you should experiment on your own and form your own opinion. Make sure before using any oil painting medium that you read all warning labels and always work in a well ventilated area. It is also recommended that you work with gloves to protect your skin.

LINSEED OIL

Linseed oil is made from the seed of the flax plant. During its early history, linseed oil had a different role then it has today. Originally it was used as a final varnish for paintings that were created using the egg tempera medium. Linseed oil is used as binder in today’s oil paints. Linseed oil dries thoroughly and forms a strong paint film. Because linseed oil dries slowly, the paint remains in a workable state, enabling the artist to continue working on the painting for some time. When linseed oil ages, it does tend to yellow unfortunately. Many painters avoid using linseed oil with lighter colors like whites and yellows. Below are a few varieties of linseed oils that are available to today’s oil painters.

COLD PRESSED LINSEED OIL

Cold pressed linseed oil is made by extracting the oils from the raw flaxseed. The oil is extracted by using pressure and not heat, thereby creating a linseed oil in its purist form. Cold pressed linseed oil can be used as a binder in oil paints, but can also be used as a medium to thin oil paints, heighten gloss and transparency, and reduce the visibility of brush strokes. Many painters and manufacturers alike feel cold pressed linseed oil is superior in quality to other linseed oils because there is no refinement made to the oil. Cold pressed linseed oil results in a low yield, so this oil does carry a heftier price tag.

STEAM PRESSED OR REFINED LINSEED OIL

When the flaxseed is steam heated and then pressed it yields more oil, thereby making refined linseed oil a more affordable medium for artists and for use as a binder in oil paints. The process of steam heating the flax seeds produces more waste, so this waste has to be removed through a refinement process. The oil is treated with an acid which removes the waste materials. The acid is then neutralized with an alkali solution. Refined linseed oil can be used to thin oil paint and increase brilliance and transparency.

SUN THICKENED LINSEED OIL

Sun thickened linseed oil is a thick bodied medium that is produced using the heat of the sun. An equal amount of both linseed oil and water are mixed together in a container and left in sunlight for several weeks or longer. The water and linseed oil eventually separate resulting in a thicker oil with a honey like consistency. Sun thickened linseed oil is not used as a binder in oil paints but as an independent medium that improves flow and increases gloss. Sun thickened linseed oil has less of a tendency to yellow and speeds drying.

STAND OIL

Stand oil is also a thick bodied medium like sun thickened linseed oil. Linseed oil is heated at a high steady temperature, in an air tight container, which results in a very thick honey like consistency. Stand oil is useful as a glazing medium when mixed with turpentine and damar varnish. Stand oil helps improve the flow and has good resistance to yellowing. Stand oil is a slow drying medium that produces a strong enamel like paint film.

POPPY SEED OIL

Because linseed oil has a tendency to yellow as it ages, other oils have come onto the market. Amongst these oils are poppy seed and safflower oil. Poppy seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the opium poppy. Poppy seed oil is a pale slower drying oil and is less likely to yellow when compared with linseed oil. It is often used with whites, blues and pale colors.

SAFFLOWER OIL

Safflower oil is similar to poppy seed oil in that they both are suitable for whites and light colors. It has less of a tendency to yellow when compared to linseed oil.

WALNUT OIL

Walnut oil is a pale oil that helps make paint more fluid and has good drying power. It has less of a tendency to yellow when compared with linseed oil. Walnut oil has to be stored properly or it can spoil.

LIQUIN

Liquin is a popular oil painting medium. Many artists swear by it and it is definitely worth a try if you have never worked with it before. Liquin improves the flow of oil and alkyd colors and helps in subtle blending and fine detail. It speeds drying and serves as a good medium for glazing.

I hope this article has served as a good overview on oil painting mediums. Remember that working with oil painting mediums is not a requirement. If you are feeling adventurous then choose one medium at a time, experiment and have fun. Happy Painting!

A 30 Day Crusade Against Smoking - Day 9 - The Nuclear Threat Is Upon Us

Bans on public smoking are spreading throughout the world. That suits Eric who is a lifelong non-smoker, nay, ANTI-smoker. For 30 days he will change the world and the habits of current smokers.

Day 9:

A message came over the wire that we were in the grips of a nuclear holocaust – or, at least, would be soon. In my town, we had a meeting and had to decide who would be able to occupy the nuclear fall out shelter. There were only 10 spaces available and 9 were taken, including one for me. I was given the task of choosing the last person to join me.

It was an easy choice. There were only 2 people to choose from. Both were in their thirties and both were in good professional employment. They were both pillars of the community, were mature and measured in their approach. They were both fertile and had kids that would hopefully grow up to be of equal standing to themselves in later life (God and nuclear warfare willing).

The only difference was that one of them smoked. That made my decision easy but I went through the motions anyway. If I am going to spend 6 months cooped up in a shelter do I want to be with someone that is going to smoke 20 cigarettes each day? Do I want to have the bunker stinking of stale cigarette smoke? Did I want to inhale his smoke either directly from his cigarette or indirectly from his lungs? Do I want to risk a fire hazard and have to clear up extra litter? Would I wish our budgeting for provisions to be affected by the cost of cigarettes? Do I really want to be governed by someone who gets stressed if he doesn’t have a cigarette?

I chose the other bloke. Luckily, the threat subsided.

Bacterial Vaginosis and Pregnancy

Vaginal bacterial infections are not only unpleasant but they can be frustrating. Plus, if you are pregnant, they can actually cause some serious health concerns for you and your unborn baby. In fact, there is a close association between Bacterial Vaginosis and premature labor as the early breaking of the waters can inevitably lead to premature labor and complications for the mother and baby. Additionally, this could also lead to an infection of the amniotic fluids, placenta, and even your baby. Scary isn’t it? Yes, it is but according to a1999 article by Hammill H, “Over 15% of pregnant women have Bacterial Vaginosis.” Wow. Let’s discuss this condition a bit more.

Bacterial Vaginosis, commonly known as BV, is a general vaginal infection caused by an overgrowth of bacteria. With this type of untreated vaginal infection, a mother can experience early labor and complications such as the premature breaking of her water/amniotic fluid. In fact, it is estimated that around 4% of newborn babies who are born prematurely will experience serious health complications.

Therefore, if you are currently pregnant, your doctor will likely test you in the first and third trimester for BV. To do so, they will give you a routine pap smear and then evaluate your vaginal secretions via a special probe. They will carefully examine your vaginal fluid sample for signs of infections and evaluate your PH levels to determine if the are elevated. If they are, then a Bacterial Vaginosis infection is likely. Typically this examination is done at your first prenatal and after the 16th week of pregnancy. If you’re found to have a BV infection, you will likely be given a medication that has been proven effective and safe for pregnant women.

In conclusion, although Bacterial Vaginosis is a common vaginal infection that affects many women, it can cause specific concern for unborn babies and their moms. Therefore, if you suspect that you have Bacterial Vaginosis, tell your physician right away and get tested. After all, your baby is counting on you.

What To Do About Interview Nerves

You have probably been through it yourself. You toss, turn, and cannot get to sleep the night before. Your stomach feels as if it is doing somersaults. You feel anxious, worried, and apprehensive. You just know that tomorrow you will face a mean-spirited, hostile interrogation.

Congratulations - you have a classic case of “interview nerves”.

While most people experience interview nerves at some point in their career, they are not a requirement for interviewing. In fact, you can calm those anxious nerves using a few simple techniques.

Practice and prepare

Practice your interviewing skills ahead of time and prepare some good answers to likely questions you will face. Many community centers, community colleges, and employment agencies offer interviewing classes so sign up for one.

You can also role-play interviews with another person. Choose someone who can help you create a realistic interview situation. Another good option is to contact an outplacement service provider in your area and pay for an hour or two of interview coaching. This does cost a bit of money, but it is well worth it for the intensive, personalized coaching you receive.

Positive Self-Talk

What is self-talk? We all talk to ourselves, all the time - just usually not aloud. Words, phrases, statements and stories rattle around in our heads, with either positive or negative tones. Negative self-talk may show up as thoughts like:

* I’m not good enough
* I flunked the last interview - why should this one be any different?
* John is better than me - he’s bound to get the job
* I don’t have the right experience

When your mind is filled with these kinds of negative thoughts, there is little room left for positive and helpful thoughts. If you want to be a success, you need to think success, so start ‘programming’ your thoughts with positive self-talk, such as:

* I have lots of experience and knowledge to bring to this job
* In this interview I’m going to listen to the questions and think about my answers
* I can do this job
* I have the right experience and skills

Visioning Success

This is a nerve-calming technique that builds a ‘picture’ or ‘vision’ of success in your mind. When you create that vision of success, you help yourself move toward and achieve that vision.

Start by finding a quiet place to sit, relax, and close your eyes. In your mind, create an image of yourself being successful during the interview situation. Observe yourself in this vision and ask yourself questions such as:

* What am I doing?
* How am I sitting?
* How am I responding to questions?
* How is the interviewer responding to me?

The answers to these questions help you identify and define the thoughts in your mind that make it possible for you to be so confident, calm, and in control. If you feel yourself becoming anxious before an interview, take a few moments to visualize yourself being successful. Remember, when you focus on what you want to happen - it often does!

Get Rid Of Acne Now The Natural Way

Living with acne can be very difficult, and even more difficult to find just the right acne treatment for you. There is hope — keep researching, learning and testing and you’ll find the right treatment for you. Keeping your skin clear doesn’t have to be a trying experience with so many cheaper natural treatments available today.

Acne is one of most common skin conditions in the world, affecting more than 40 million people. Acne is the most common skin disease. There are several different types of acne. The most common types of pimples are whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts.

Check your shampoo to make sure it isn’t causing pimples or other breakouts on your forehead. New studies show that during times of high emotional stress, such as during exam time in high school, there are more acne breakouts; are stress hormones the culprits? Scientists are trying to find the cause of acne and working on ways to prevent plugs.

Make sure to stay out of the sun if you’re taking any acne medications. There are many natural acne home remedies; you may have to try several to find one that works best for your skin type. One helpful remedy seems to be to use ice to reduce the swelling caused by inflamed pimples: rub it over the blemishes for 2-3 minutes.

Any makeup you use should list on the label non-acnegenic or non-comedogenic. Use exercise such as Yoga and Tai Chi to improve blood flow to the skin and support the healing process; it also boosts the condition of your internal organs which allows them to eliminate toxins more effectively. Treatment with raw apple cider vinegar will work better on your skin if it isn’t already noticeably irritated from acne medicines, acne products or other failed treatment.

Make sure not to use hot water on your face, always use lukewarm water. Use baking soda on a test area carefully for exfoliation, if you feel you need it. Try a diligent application of coconut oil several times a day and at bedtime to see the healing benefits.

Some natural home remedies include dabbing on non-gel toothpaste or lemon juice to dry out zits. Drinking lots of pure, filtered water may be one of the most important things you can do for your acne, working from the inside out. This is a little messy but you can try making a paste by mixing three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon together and applying the paste on your pimples at bedtime for two weeks, and wash it off each morning; honey has anti-bacterial action - a cheap, natural home remedy.

It bears repeating, you want to be good to your skin and never pop or squeeze a pimple no matter how tempting. It’s easy to treat acne cheaply, simply, naturally, yet effectively, at home.

Whether you eat a natural diet of living fruits and vegetables or eat dead junk food, what you eat may have a direct or indirect affect on the male hormones which may or may not play some part in acne. Besides external acne treatment it’s even more important to work from the inside out too. Adding a lot of fresh, raw fruit to the diet has helped many people clear their skin up; there are tons of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients in fruits.

Essential fatty acids are particularly important to people with inflammatory conditions such as eczema and acne. Drink lots and lots of pure, filtered water every day.

For an easy fiber boost, mix in two tablespoons of ground up flaxseeds into raw applesauce, from two to three apples, made in your food processor. Eat foods that contain essential fatty acids. Eat at least two organic apples a day while working to clear up your skin; apples are good for skin health - organic so you can eat pesticide-free skin (most of the apple pectin is in the skin), which helps with constipation.

The two most common digestive concerns that affect your skin are not enough water and not enough fiber. Get plenty of sunshine on your arms and legs; sunshine triggers the production of Vitamin D3 which is essential to having healthy skin.

Don’t give up - try everything you can until you get relief from your acne. Analyze all the acne treatments available and make the best decision for you, based on your circumstances. Fortunately, many people have discovered through trial and error how to cure their acne.
