Know Your Partner - Avoid the Virtual Stranger Marriage Trap by Asking the Right Questions

Knowing the right questions to ask can make all the difference between a relationship that crashes and one that becomes more blissful every day. Recently, a client asked if she and her fiance were moving too fast. They were both in their 40’s and had been dating for 4 months when they became engaged. They had both been in relationship coaching and had determined their own personal life visions, but this client was concerned about being sure of their compatibility.

I, too, am concerned. One really common relationship trap is the mini-marriage. In the mini-marriage, a couple rushes into a relationship, and in this case, into an engagement. The problem with this, aside from the pressure that the engagement ring puts on a couple to stay together even if one or both see red flags, is that 4 months is just not long enough to know if the potential partner really meets their bottom-line, must-have requirements. Generally, it’s best to see your intended through all the seasons-a full year-before marriage.

But time is not the only issue for couples considering marriage. It’s entirely possible for a couple to date-or even live together-for an extended period of time and then get married to a virtual stranger. Usually the couple thinks they know each other well, but the first few months of marriage bring huge, often unpleasant, surprises.

The truth is that, often, unless a topic happens to come up, most couples never discuss it. And sometimes, even when it does arise, they ignore it. Many people date and mate so unconsciously that they ignore the huge red flags that wave and flap in their faces. If the couples think about issues at all, they just assume that their partner agrees with them. They endow their partners with certain attitudes and attributes that the partner may not possess at all. Then one day, they wake in the morning and wonder who this stranger sharing the pillow is.

So what’s the solution to the Virtual Stranger Marriage Trap? Being conscious. Dating consciously. Mating consciously. Asking questions. Giving and getting answers. Discussion. Know your own life vision and the bottom-line requirements in a partner that will make that vision possible. Talk about everything that is on your list of must-have requirements.

For example, if part of your life vision is to live a life of great adventure, and you will never feel fulfilled unless you have scaled Mt. Kilimanjaro with your partner, but your partner’s life vision is living next door to family in a cozy little cottage and never doing anything more strenuous on vacation than calling for room service, you have a mismatch. Perhaps it is possible to negotiate around that, but what if you must have children-preferably 4 or 5-but your partner can’t stand children? He or she wants to live a life of freedom? How do you negotiate that? It’s not possible to have children this week, but not have them next week. And children certainly do cut into your freedom!

Now it’s easy enough to think about discussing children with a potential partner (although you’d be surprised how many people manage to get married without settling this first!), but there are so many other potential issues worth discussing that are not so easy to think of. The eBook Law

A growing moneymaking trend in the United States in many
countries in Western Europe is the acquiring and reselling of
eBooks through the Internet. This growing business is legitimate
and profitable, but only if you know the laws, rules, and what
you are doing and offering to clients and customers. If you are
in the market for a home business, then opening an online book
store or eBook store might be right up your alley.

Knowing the difference between selling rights however, is vital
to avoid trouble with copywrites and authors. For many online
sellers, knowing what normal resell rights as opposed to master
resell rights can make the difference between success and failure.
Internet software, and eBooks, are generally sold with resell rights
included in the transaction.

Such rights prohibit readers or sellers from altering any of the content
in their books, and if any changes were desired, the owner of the copy
must contact the author for permission to make such changes. Usually
for a fee you can get private label rights to the product. These rights can
include changing the cover art, content, title, affiliate links and other issues.

Basically, a normal resell right allows anyone who purchases an eBook
to turn around and sell it to someone else. A master resell transaction
allows sellers to not only sell that eBook, but they also pass on the resell
rights to that buyer as well. While most private label rights give you
permission to change the product as you see fit. Some online eBook
sellers offer such resell rights, while others do not.

There are many ways to use eBooks. You can use them for information
purposes. Better yet use them to promote your online business. Make sure
when it comes to PLR you know what you are getting into. Many people try
to control what you can do with their eBook. They state the terms and
conditions in the form of a usage license. This license is where the
rules are established for the protection of your purchase and their product.
Preferably its in .pdf format. Adobe documents cannot easily be changed,
and it would give purchasers the security they need. While giving the
product owner the rights they want to relay.

Hopefully you understand the differences between them now. Do yourself a
favor and find a good resell rights downloadable eBook package. You’ll
save yourself a good sum of money doing it this way.

What You Need To Know About The Chinese Market

Every business should learn about the Chinese market. With a massive population of about 1.3 billion, it is the world’s most populated nation and, as such, holds great potential for effecting the world’s economies. The Chinese economy itself is said to be larger than the US and European markets combined. From manufacturing goods in China at a fraction of the price it might cost in Western countries to entering the Chinese market with your business, there are a wide range of possibilities where the Chinese market can extend or enhance your business dealings.

Entering The Chinese Market

While large companies find it somewhat easier to enter the Chinese market, smaller companies tend to have a much harder time. They tend to experience problems with getting a business license, which can take many months of having to talk to the right people and cutting through the red tape. However, some new companies have popped up whose entire business is based upon helping foreign companies enter the Chinese market. These companies help do the research and lay the groundwork before the client takes the big step of moving into China. A mistake that people tend to make alot is that China is a single entity, when in fact it is a vastly varied country with over 33 provinces, each with it’s own unique attributes. In addition, there are over 100 cities in China that have over 1 million inhabitants, which cities do you enter and how do you market to them? The research needed is quite vast in order for you to make good business decisions.

Expanding Opportunities

One of the biggest markets in China is Internet users. It is estimated that Chinese Internet users spend almost 2 billion hours online each week. Compare that with their US counterparts, which use the Internet almost 129 million hours each week. It is also estimated that nearly 800,000 new users jump online in China every single week. The Chinese Internet market is growing by leaps and bounds and shows no signs of slowing down. This is one of the best markets for foreign companies to enter. Many US Internet companies have already jumped into the Chinese market to take advantage of it’s exploding growth, including eBay, Amazon and Yahoo, among others. In addition, many Internet search engines offer a Chinese language version of their search engine.

Business Savvy

Companies and CEO’s who have already entered the Chinese market successfully say you must be especially savvy when making deals and communicating with Chinese business people. Like any other country, there are good people but there are also crooks. You need to be more patient and also vigilant in your business dealings. Check out any potential partners thoroughly. Just because a Chinese business person speaks perfect English, doesn’t mean they are a good business person. Due to this, it’s a good idea for you to learn Chinese or have a trusted translator on hand at all times during your Chinese dealings.

Corruption

Corruption is a fact of life in China. There is much dishonesty and distrust in the business and political system. Many political officials are corrupt and will take money in exchange for making it easier for you to do business. While it may be easier to give in to corruption when building your business in China, it’s not the best way to go for the future of your business. While there are Chinese anti-corruption laws, they have little effect due to the widespread dishonesty.

In closing, there are many, many advantages to doing business in China, not the least of which is the massive burgeoning markets for your products and services. However, you must be patient and do the research and be extremely business savvy or you’ll be chewed up and spit out like many companies before you.

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, and Arkansas Lemon Laws

Alabama has very liberal lemon laws. They cover any vehicles used on public highways, excludes vehicles weighing more than 10,000 pounds. Lemon laws cover the vehicle if it took 3 attempts to fix the problem or more than 30 calendar days to fix the problem. Statute of limitations listed in Section 8-20A-6 runs out after one year or 12,000 miles.

Alaskan lemon laws are very similar to Alabama. They cover four-wheel vehicles that are used for personal, family or household purposes all of which must require registration. The Alaska lemon laws do not cover tractors, farm vehicles, motorcycles, or off-road vehicles. Vehicle is covered after 3 repair attempts or 30 business days in a shop. Section 45.45.305 discusses the express warranty. Alaska lemon laws cover cars during the express warranty or one year from purchase.

Arizona has some of the most conservative lemon laws. It only covers vehicles under 10,000 pounds, used only for personal transport. Arizona lemon laws allow for 4 repair attempts or 30 calendar days out of service as mentioned in section 44-1264. Arizona cars are allowed 2 years or 24,000 miles as a period in which it can be classified as a lemon.

Arkansas is more like Arizona in with its lemon laws. They do not cover the living areas of mobile homes and RVs, and vehicle over 10,000 pounds, nor does it cover motorcycles or mopeds. All other personal transport vehicles are covered. A vehicle in Arkansas can be considered a lemon after 1 repair attempt if the defect may have caused death or serious injury. After 3 repair attempts (Or 30 calendar days out of service, or 5 repair attempts on separate occasions to repair any non conformities that together impair the use and value of the vehicle) the car can be considered a lemon as well. After 2 years or 24,000 miles (whichever comes last) you may no longer seek a refund for a lemon as listed in section 4-90-403, 12-B.

The Chinese Web - What’s Out There

China already leads the world in the number of Internet users as well as Internet usage, with over 800,000 new Internet users coming online every week. You’d think that a country with so much Internet usage would have a big effect on the web. Well, they do, but for US users, we don’t often notice their presence unless we go searching for it. Here’s what’s out there on the Chinese information superhighway:

Portals

Just like other countries, Chinese users tend to use portals to find what they’re looking for. Yahoo’s Chinese portal is rated as the 6th most popular Chinese site. The #1 site for Chinese users is a portal called Baidu.com, a Chinese language search engine that also offers multimedia content to its users. Next on the list is QQ.com, a portal similar to Yahoo with a popular free email service attached. Sina.com.cn is next on the list, then we have Sohu.com and 163.com. Each portal has a similar setup to traditional portals like Yahoo and MSN, where updated news is offered, plus stock information and tickers, email services, entertainment information, shopping, music, communities and message boards as well as the usual serving of ads, including ads for the Chinese version of eBay. Chinese versions of Yahoo, Google and MSN are also very popular.

Alternative search portals are the meta search engines within China such as Juxit.com which an english/chinese meta search, which ranks results from Google, Yahoo, Baidu and Sogou. Bbmau.com another meta search and baigoogledu.com which shows results from both Google and Yahoo.

Chinese Newspapers Online

As expected with such a huge country, there are many Chinese newspapers with online versions. These include Beijing Daily, Beijing News, China Daily, China News Digest, Fa Zhi Ri Bao, Guangming Daily, Guangzhou Morning Post, Hua Sheng Bao, Hua Xia Wen Zhai, Jie Fang Jun Bao, Jinan Times, Nong Min Ri Bao, Qingdao News, Ren Min Ri Bao, Shanghai Daily, Shanghai Star, Xinhua, Xin Min Evening, Yangtse Evening Post, Yun Nan Daily as well as the communist newspaper, the People’s Daily, which publishes selected or censored news.

English Language Chinese Newspapers

There are some English language Chinese newspaper sites out there as well. These include China Daily, China Online, Inside China Today, Shanghai Daily and the South China Morning Post.

Social Networking & Communities

Like every other country, China has their own versions of popular US based community websites. For instance, a site called 51.com is considered the Chinese version of Myspace, where users can sign up and fill out their profile, keep a diary, upload photos and connect to people they already know or meet new people. Another is called Bala, which is a more music based community where users can buy, download and listen to an extensive collection of music, video and podcasts. The service also matches users by their musical tastes.

Other Popular Chinese Websites

9you is a popular multimedia and gaming website for Chinese users. Another interesting and popular site is Readnovel.com, a site where you can read books and literature. 56.com and 5show.com are very much like a Chinese version of Youtube. Mobile phone related sites are also popular including those that offer ringtones and mobile phone related downloads and services. Chinese webmasters even have their own community at Chinaz.com.

Just like many other countries in the world, China offers a huge amount of online content and these sites are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the Chinese web.

Finding Your Voice As a Public Speaker

Passion, that is right, passion. When you have passion for a topic such as public speaking you will rise to the top of your speaking game.

It was not so long ago when I was trying to learn the secrets to become the best platform speaker in the professional speaking industry. Guess what I discovered?

Okay, no more suspense. I learned that to become the best speaker you can become you must love it. That is it, no more!

Like anything you love to do, you tend to do it without watching a clock, pouring yourself into it, and or never ever getting tired of learning about your craft.

Public speaking is the top skill one must possess if you are to make a significant mark in the business world. Let me state it another way, if you are not in front of an audience leading them to achieve excellence, you are not living your passion.

After a recent speech, during the question and answer period someone ask me the following question, “Do you get nervous when you speak in front of an audience?” I responded by saying, “I get nervous if I do not have an audience to speak to.”

When you love something nothing else really matters. I love coming up with new ideas and concepts for speech delivery. For example, prior to delivering a speech I like to meet members of the audience, shake hands and see how they are doing.

I recommend you do this as well because it is very personal and people enjoy relating to someone who is going to deliver a thought-provoking message to lead them to a position of better understanding. During my speech I call upon a few people I met prior to the speech and it creates a win/win for all involved.

The bottom line is I genuinely enjoy meeting people and people connect with people they like, even if it is for a short period of time. Being a seasoned speaker I know how to work the audience and the audience reciprocates in kind.

Prior to your next speech, if you want to command the platform, take a minute or two to meet and greet a few audience members, it helps settle your nerves and helps audience members see your personality.

The key point I want you to take away from this article is for you to be yourself. Nothing is better than being yourself. The minute the audience perceives you talking above them, is the minute you lose your audience.

You were born to win as a speaker and the audience wants you to win and you will. I never want to disappoint my audience, that is what drives me to put in the research, practice, and delivery.

Find you voice by knowing who you are. You were born for greatness and your next speech will change lives. Finding your voice is synonymous with finding your audience, remember if you care enough about your audience your voice will find you.

Japanese Landscaping

Japanese landscaping is one of the oldest forms of landscape design on earth, and it has deep roots - not only in your garden under your flowering plants and blossoming vegetables - but in traditions of the Asian style of arranging things in our lives.

Japanese landscaping, just like some of the other art forms from Japan, is rather simple, but not that simple to design unless you have a good eye for the oriental design style.

One type of Japanese landscaping, for instance, involves little more than the placement of smooth stones next to each other, to form square or circular patterns. These stone landscapes can be done outside, or they can even be done in spaces small enough to fit on a bedside table or on the windowsill of your office. To get the proper stones, one usually needs to go to a Japanese garden dealer, or to find them elsewhere, after identifying the proper kind of stone. Many of them are smooth, small, flat, and shiny black, and they are fun to arrange in various patterns. You can find many traditional patterns by looking in books or on the Internet under the subject of Japanese or Oriental gardening design.

You can, of course, add plants to your Japanese landscaping. It is a good idea to contact someone with experience in this area, to help you choose plants that fit the style but will also work well and thrive in your particular yard. Some plants for instance need more shade, while others will die without lots of direct sunlight.

A great way to venture into Japanese landscaping is via the path of Banzai trees and plants, or bamboo. The art of Banzai is a skill that sometimes takes years to develop, but there are plant dealers and florists who sell the trees and you can take them home and create your own collection of these exotic and miniature little trees. Some even produce fruit or flowers.

And bamboo is always perfect for any Japanese landscaping, but some will suggest that you keep it in flower pots or other kinds of containers, because if you give it a chance, it will spread all over your yard and is almost impossible to get rid of. One it begins to grow and spread, it will spring up everywhere, even in your other flower beds. It grows so fast that in some historical cases, it was used to create fences that were needed in a hurry. It comes up fast, strong, and tightly knit together, so that if you end up with a forest of the beautiful skinny plants, you will have an impenetrable fence.

Movie Trailers - The Great Hollywood Lie

How sad is it that week after week people from all over the globe get tricked out of money by Hollywood? Let’s face it, the highest paid people in the business shouldn’t be the Actors, and it shouldn’t be the Directors, it should simply be the men and women who most of us have never heard of. They are the ones who edit the movie trailers together. They are the ones that give us a glimpse into what their new film has to offer, and they are the ones that trick us the most. This holds true for any genre but especially when it comes to horror/suspense and comedy. They trick you by often showing you the funniest or scariest scenes in the movie and make you believe that the whole film will be filled with the same thing.

How many times have you seen a movie trailer and thought to yourself “wow that movie looks fantastic, I can’t wait to see it”. Then you go see the movie, and it is nothing like what the trailer made it appear to be? Months before the movie is released you get bombarded with PR for the film, from posters, trailers and even pop up ads on the internet, and you get so filled with hope for these high budget, and often times low talent films that you can’t help but expect them to be great. So now you’ve wasted nearly $10 dollars for the movie ticket, and while I try and avoid the over priced, under-satisfying snack line, most people will go and spend at least another $10 there. Now you have spent nearly $20 for a very boring, sometimes upsetting 2 hours of your life that you will never get back again. That would be bad enough, but the worst part about it is that you will probably go and do it again next weekend as well.

So how can one avoid being tricked by the studios and how can you avoid wasting money after seeing these mini movies called trailers? Well the truth is there is no way to 100% to be sure that the movie you see is going to be good. But here are a few things that you can do to raise the chances of wasting less money by seeing the better movies out there.

1. Watch the trailers - Even though Trailers often trick us, they are still necessary to get some idea of what the movie might be about.

2. Read many reviews - The key to reading reviews is to not just read one and then go on what the author had to say. Read many and most important, try and find reviews from people who seem to have similar tastes as yourself. Most of us go see movies with certain friends because they usually have similar tastes as us and will enjoy the same things. Same goes for movie reviews. Find reviewers who seem to have similar tastes as you, and that will help you in picking your next movie.

3. Actors/Directors - If the main actor is someone that you do not normally like, then it’s a good chance that you will not like this film either. The same goes for the director. A lot of times the average person doesn’t even know who is directing the film before they go see it. If they would only check this beforehand they might find out that this person has been involved in many films that they did or did not like. Film in this sense is much like reading a book. Would you go buy a book that was written by an author that you hate? Try using the same thought process with film directors.

4. How many times have you seen the movie trailer? I’ve recently come to the conclusion that if I see the movie trailer on TV more than 5 times the week before the movie is being released, then I have no desire to see that movie anymore or at least on opening weekend. This is more a general rule for myself as I do not always hold true to it. For example, I could see the trailer for Spider-Man 3 100 times the week before it comes out, and I will still see it opening day. They have done enough for me over the first two films to convince me that the third will be just as good. This has caused me some disappointment in the past (The Matrix films) but generally when seeing sequels and trilogies it is ok to see the 2nd or 3rd if you liked the first.

5. Wait until opening weekend is over. There are so many movie websites out there now to find out what the general public has thought about a film. If you don’t trust the professional movie reviews, then wait a week or two after the movie has been released and find out what others think about it. This again will help you to filter out some of the bad movies out there.

Again, I understand that there is no full proof plan to avoid seeing a bad movie, but my advice to you is to put a little more thought and research into the films you see before you go, and then hopefully your overall movie experience will improve.

Online Advertising For The Chinese Market

When you need to get your products or services in front of a Chinese audience, where do you start? This article will give you some tips.

Whether you have a full line of products and services available that you want to market to China, or whether you only have one or two things available to China residents, you’ll want to get your website in front of Chinese eyes through online advertising methods with a Chinese twist.

Traditional Search Engine Submissions

Many of the largest Chinese search engines offer free submission for your URL to their search engine. Here are the largest sites and their URL submit pages:

Baidu is the #1 Chinese site on the web:
Baidu Submit Page - baidu.com/search/url_submit.html

The Chinese version of the #1 worldwide Internet search engine, Google:
Google China Submit Page - www.google.com/intl/zh-CN/add_url.html

Yahoo China is another popular search engine used by the Chinese:
Yahoo Submit Page - siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit

Sina.com is another huge Chinese portal and search engine:
Sina.com Submit Page - iask.com/guest/add_url.php

Sogou.com is another large Chinese search engine:
Sogou.com Submit Page - db.sohu.com/regurl/regform.asp?Step=REGFORM&class=

Sunwukong is an up and coming English/Chinese search engine:
Sunwukong Submit Page - sunwukong.cn/add.php

KeepSo Submit Page - home.tianwang.com/denglu.htm

Juxit is an English/Chinese meta search that offers both free and PPC URL submissions to their index:
Juxit submit page - juxit.com/accounts.php

Directories

DMOZ - DMOZ is one of the largest and oldest human reviewed directories on the Internet. Their results are also used by many other large and small search engines, directories and portals. Google’s own directory section uses results from DMOZ, so it’s an important submission to make. For Chinese language or Chinese related sites, you can submit to DMOZ for free by clicking the Suggest URL link in the appropriate regional category. Submit carefully and pay close attention to the category guidelines, as DMOZ is notoriously hard to get into and extremely slow to review sites in their submission queue. Some sites are still waiting to be reviewed from several years ago!

Paid Directories

The following directories offer listings in their directories or search databases for a fee:

Yahoo - Yahoo has a traditional search engine, but they also have a directory section, where the results are very much like DMOZ, where everything is strictly categorized with top categories and then hundreds or thousands of subcategories under those. If your site is not commercial, is information or non profit, you can still submit to the Yahoo Directory for free, otherwise you’ll need to pay a yearly fee to be listed. Navigate to the appropriate category and then click on Suggest A Site.

Sohu.com - On Sohu’s Add URL page, you can find some paid submission options to list your site in their directory:
It’s at add.sohu.com

163.com - This massive portal offers paid submission and listing options here:
emarketing.biz.163.com

Pay Per Click

Don’t forget about pay per click, for many sites, it will be the easiest, fastest and sometimes the most cost effective method to reach Chinese users. Both the major PPC services from Google and Yahoo offer targeting to Chinese users.

There are endless other ways to promote your site to Chinese users, but these are some of the most popular and effective options.
