Search Engine Submission Techniques - Search Engine Submission 101

Popular internet wisdom has it that, eventually, the search engines will find your site. It is true… but it doesn’t mean they’ll find you as fast as you’d like and it doesn’t mean that ALL of them will find your site. If an important part of your internet marketing strategy depends on being found by search engines, or if the content on your site changes frequently, better not leave it to chance.

For most purposes, simply submitting your site directly to Google, MSN and Yahoo! is a good start. These sites provide search content to many other sites including sites such as Ask Jeeves, Altavista and Lycos. It’s also a good idea to include the Open Directory Project (wwwdotdmozdotorg) in your submissions. They, likewise, provide content to several other search engines. For these search engines, submission is easy enough to do yourself.

If you expect to do business worldwide, it may be desirable to employ the services of a search engine submission service. Many of these firms claim to submit your site to thousands of search engines (and some actually do!) The point is that such a service can be valuable when you must submit to engines within dozens of different countries and potentially in other languages.

Also, don’t forget to include industry specific directories or listings in your submissions. Many times, these sites are free and may be focused on specific markets that are important to you.
Lastly, a key concept to take away from this discussion is that search engine submission is not a one-time activity. It must become a regular part of your site maintenance.

SEO Secrets - The Not-so-secretive Secrets of SEO

The thousands of firms claiming to be experts in search engine optimization would have you believe that SEO techniques require a Ph.D. in Physics. Not so. In fact, the key activities behind search engine optimization are quite simple.

One of the biggest “secrets” is to get your keywords correct. Keywords are key. Don’t just pick keywords willy-nilly. Pick words that are carefully focused on your market and on your content. The more specific you are the higher the quality of the leads you get. Picking irrelevant keywords will put your site listing in front of irrelevant viewers.

When you’re selecting your keywords, consider carefully the balance between keyword population and keyword specificity. Popular just means that you’ll be part of a very large crowd; too specific means you’ll miss people that are searching too generally. Find the balance.

When you have the keywords you want, make sure that the content in your site “echoes” your keywords. Most search engines will actually validate whether your keywords reflect your sites content – in some cases, they’ll actually go through the content and create additional keywords on your behalf that are based on the content!

Use your keywords in all the descriptions of your site. This includes the page titles, title meta tags, description meta tags and, of course, keyword meta tags. In the page titles and description tags particularly – use your keywords threaded into a complete description.

There’s more to SEO than just keywords. But keywords are one of the SEO factors that’s easiest to address. Take care of that first before you attempt to deal with other SEO strategies.

Why Targeting Is So Important - and Easier Than You Think

It’s one thing to open your web site to just any visitor on the internet or to send out an email promotion to any email address you happen to have. But it’s another thing altogether to be able to have just the right visitors see your site or just the right recipients open your email. The difference? The difference is in the results. When you target, your marketing results improve. Always. Yes, always. Costs go down and responses go up. What else could you want?

But how do you target an anonymous website visitor? It’s easier than you might think. The first way to get targeted web site traffic is to advertise on in carefully targeted media. For example, if you’re looking for sales executives, your advertisement should be in SALES MANAGEMENT magazine (or their site) instead of PSYCHOLOGY TODAY. But the little things count too. Make sure your keywords are targeted. If you’re a plumber in Chicago, make sure your keywords are “PLUMBER CHICAGO” or “CHICAGO PLUMBER” instead of just “PLUMBER.” It even helps to put on your home page some copy that talks about who your site is for!

With email list, your targeting efforts should be focused on the list. You must assess the nature of the list from its source or through its behavior. For example, if a list is a subscription list for an IT newsletter, trying to sell cosmetics to it probably won’t generate a lot of sales. On the other hand, if you have a list, whatever the source, that has responded well to other cosmetic or beauty aid offers, it will probably respond well for you.

Targeting is not hard. It just requires some careful consideration to the audiences that you advertise to. Any attention you give to targeting is almost guaranteed to pay off in a big way.

Breastfeeding - 12 Keys to a Happy Experience

Breastfeeding is still the best way to feed a newborn. The breast milk’s composition is ideal for the growing needs of the baby and contains favorable amounts of nutrient to ensure a proper development of his brain. Breast milk also contains antibodies which can protect against benign and more serious infections.

Breastfeeding a newborn baby is not without its challenges and most nursing women will need the support of her environment. There are some proven tricks and tips that can help a new mother find her breastfeeding experience a more pleasant one.

1) Keeping the newborn baby close day and night will insure that the nursing mother will get accustomed to its schedule and will rapidly recognize its needs.

2) Being convinced that breastfeeding is a natural and very normal and easy process greatly helps. If a nursing mother feels she lacks the support she needs in her experience, she should discuss it further with her spouse and family. Joining a breastfeeding support group is also an invaluable resource.

3) Breastfeeding rapidly during the first hour after the birth reassures the baby that milk is readily available and that a loving mother is there for him.

4) Frequent feedings given whenever the baby shows signs of hunger is a very good way to ensure that baby is happy and that the milk production is stimulated.

5) Learning to decode the many moods of a newborn baby will help to recognize and differentiate between when he is tired than when he is hungry.

6) Avoiding to give formula milk for the first few weeks ensures that the milk production is well started and that baby really gets used to feeding at the breast.

7) Avoiding to give solid foods too early also ensures that baby will get most of his nutrients fro the breast milk, the best food for the first few months.

8) A calm mother has more ease breastfeeding. Staying away from unnecessary torments and endless discussions are best.

9) Slowing down and living at the new baby’s rhythm ensures that the milk production will always be sufficient. It is highly recommended to set aside the unnecessary tasks and tolerate a little more disorder in the house. Hiring temporary house help might be a solution.

10) Ensuring that the baby has a proper position when hatched-on to the breast will make his experience a comfortable one. A breastfeeding baby should have the entire nipple in the mouth and proper clearance of his breathing airways.

11) A breastfeeding mother should trust her capacities to feed her little baby. Getting out at least once per day will also help her to keep a good and happy mood.

12) Proper rest and sleep for the nursing mother is essential. She should also keep herself well-hydrated as breastfeeding requires a lot of fluid.

Accepting all the help that is offered is the main key to a successful breastfeeding experience. Often, the spouse or family is more than happy to take over the other chores the breastfeeding mother can delegate such as preparing meals or changing the baby’s diaper.

How $2.00 Can Solve Your Marketing Woes

So…

How do you market to those potential clients that inquire about your services or products?

Is it the typical way?…

1) Receive inquiry for more information or freebie giveaway.

2) Send freebie giveaway or information.

3) Make a follow up call to try and sell your main product or service.

4) Put this inquiry into the “I’ll get to it later” pile that you never get to again.

Does your marketing process seem similar to this? Maybe with only slight differences?

Your losing business left and right. And if your excuse is “I can’t afford to do it the right way”… Then the money will run out and you will be out of business, period. If you actually will see marketing as an investment with a return on that investment after being properly tested…then read on. In today’s business climate, you need “front of mind awareness” to remain competitive. In other words, you have to be the first person or business that a client thinks about when they finally reach the decision to purchase your product or service.

When your marketing process is at an advanced level, you will be the only person on that client’s mind when they reach a decision.

So let’s take this one step at a time and at least be the first person on the mind…shall we?

Here is the way the process could work for less than $2.00 per client after the initial inquiry:

1) Receive inquiry for more information or freebie giveaway.

2) Send information or giveaway to potential client.

3) Follow up with a phone call to ensure they received the information or giveaway. Perhaps this could lead to a sale. But for those that don’t sell…

4) Send letter number 1 asking for their business. In letter number one, offer a compelling bonus or reason for acting on the first letter. For those that don’t sell…

5) Send letter number 2 asking for their business about a week from the first letter being received. In letter number two, offer a compelling bonus or reason for acting on this letter. For those that don’t sell…

6) Send letter number 3 asking for their business about two weeks from the second letter being received. In letter number three, offer a compelling bonus or reason for acting on this letter. For those that don’t sell…

7) Send letter number 4 asking for their business about two weeks from the third letter being received. In letter number four, offer a compelling bonus or reason for acting on this letter. For those that don’t sell…

8) Send letter number 5 asking for their business about a week after the fourth is delivered. In letter number five, offer a compelling bonus or reason for acting on the final letter. Use a big close to this letter…with all the benefits and such of the product or service clearly stated and why they need to act now.

9) One final phone call for one last effort with this product or service to offer.

For those that don’t sell…don’t throw them away. Big mistake. Do you have an alternative, or lesser priced product to sell? Now is the time. But perhaps allow 30 - 60 days and start a mini marketing process for that list.

This is a general, simple, and low-cost process for re - marketing to your inquiries. It takes 5 - 7 contacts before the typical client will consider your offer. Five letters cost about $2.00 to mail, and I guess if you factor in an envelope and the paper, your at $2.25 per inquiry plus phone time. You cannot get much better than that.

Keep the envelope very simple, trying to avoid the “commercial mail” look. The letter is simple, at least use “Dear Friend” as a greeting…but personalizing the letter is even better and will increase response.

The first few sentences of the letter are all you have to capture the attention of your reader. Once they start reading your letter though…you will need to keep “feeding” compelling reasons to continue reading it.

Then, ask for the order with a focused call to action. The more focused and simple you make it for someone to order, the higher your response rate will be.

But you must mail a minimum of 4 letters to make this work for you. Obviously, there are other variables involved…but just using the multiple contact method alone will increase sales.

China Site - ChinaSite.com is an English language directory of all things Chinese on the web. Boasting over 8500 links to Chinese and Chinese related websites, updated daily, this is a great site for English only users who are interested in learning more about the country.

Sogou - Sogou.com is another Google type search engine that offers traditional website search results as well as picture search, map search, document search and more. A weather section and mobile features are also offered.

Sina - Sina.com is more of a portal, but it offers an English language as well as Chinese language version. It also has extensive search capability with specialized search engines for video, multimedia and even blogs. In addition, it also offers a large shopping mall, dating service, SMS services and a games section.

Juxit - An innovative newcomer to the Chinese search engine world that has been going through refreshes every few months. It is the world’s very first Chinese meta search engine and been online 2004, taking results from a number of Chinese and English search engines. It also offers a news search engine, audio and video search engine, image search, travel search, people search and more. The site can be found at Juxit.com

Muzi - Muzi.com bills itself as “The Digital Great Wall” and is a true bilingual English and Chinese portal with sections including search, gallery, library, movies, forums, polls and a dating service. It also offers a service similar to My Yahoo’s personalized homepages, where you can choose the content on your browser’s start page, called My Muzi. You can find this site at Muzi.com

There are many other smaller Chinese search engines and directories, but these are the largest sites currently available.

The History of Interior Design

No one knows how the history of interior design actually began. There is ample evidence however, that all through history, the wealthy people did decorate their homes and have elaborate furniture. In the homes of the ancient Egyptians, for example, there were brightly colored cushions and textiles. The ceilings and the wooden columns used for supporting the roofs were also brightly colored. The ancient Romans had rooms in their homes that were carefully planned according to their use and the view. They often had separate living rooms for winter and summer. Wall decorations, furniture and accessories were decorated and made with great artistic skill.

The history of interior design, as we now know it, began with the Italian Renaissance. The palaces of this period were luxuriously decorated with ornate furniture, velvet draperies, Oriental carpets, intricately designed mirrors and works of art. The seventeenth and eighteenth centuries were outstanding periods of interior design in France. The names of the rulers of the time were so taken up with the decorations and furniture of their palaces that their names have even been given to pieces of furniture.

After the Industrial Revolution, the history of interior design shows that as the members of the middle class began to earn more money, they, too, began to decorate their homes. Magazines began to focus on new styles of interior design increasing the need for advice on home furnishings and decorating ideas. This led to the development of the interior design industry. There are thousands of people who have become professionals at designing the décor for private homes and office buildings. There are also many people who do interior design as a hobby and give free advice or spend their time decorating their own homes.

The history of interior design documents the success of many leading home decorators. Generally, they make their profit by purchasing the materials at wholesale prices and charging a fee for the services they provide. Many painting supply stores now have an interior design specialist on their payroll to help customers select paint colors and draperies that are eye catching and compliment the furniture in a particular room.

The history of interior design is constantly changing as new ideas take hold and new types of materials are developed to accentuate the home.

Direct Marketing Direct Marketing - Key Components of Direct Marketing

Only a few years ago, direct marketing meant sending out thousands of letters that included an advertising offer to customer or prospect address lists and sending them through the postal system. Bulk email marketing is e-version of yesterday’s direct marketing. Today, the only thing that has changed is the means of delivery. But all the other components remain the same.

As in traditional direct marketing, the “list” is still a vital component of any successful bulk email marketing campaign. You need a list and the better the list, the better the results. If you don’t have a list, you better start building one now. In all events, your list should be an opt-in list – i.e. the recipients have indicated a willingness to receive promotional email.

The “offer” is another vital component of today’s direct marketing. As in traditional mail marketing, the strong the offer, the better the results. Offers such as “FREE xxx” or “SAVE XX%” are more compelling than offers like “Click here for a brochure.”

There are a variety of ways to send your promotional email. For smaller mailings, firms like MyEmma and Constant Contact are good suppliers. For larger mailings, firms such as Datran Media and Topica might be good choices.

Finally, some would say the most important part of any direct marketing – traditional or bulk email marketing – is measurement. Make sure you can appropriate measure the results of any email promotion you send. Most emailing services will provide you simple metrics for “opens” and “click-throughs”. Some provide much more detailed statistics.
